"Long COVID has destroyed my life

I would love nothing more than to “finally ignore COVID,” as the headline to Dr. Ashish Jha’s July 31 op-ed reads (“With a few basic steps, most of us can finally ignore COVID”). As a healthy, vaccinated, and recently boosted 35-year-old, I did what he said: I ignored COVID-19 on a weekend trip with friends in September 2022. But the infection I got as a result has all but destroyed my life.

A week after my infection, I began to experience intense fatigue, overwhelming headaches, and cognitive challenges that continue to this day. These symptoms are debilitating: I can no longer work, socialize, or travel. My finances are dire. And if I am unable to avoid another infection, my condition may deteriorate even further.

Jha wrote of long COVID “treatments” being promising. Perhaps he could clarify what treatments he is referring to, because my doctors say that there are no approved treatments for long COVID.

A recent study funded by the NIH’s RECOVER initiative showed that 10 percent of adults infected with COVID still have symptoms six months later, even with vaccination. By downplaying the prevalence and debilitating outcomes of even moderate long COVID, Jha is signing thousands of people up to the misery and despair with which I live every day.

As infectious disease doctors, we disagree with Dr. Jha’s contention that it is time to ignore COVID-19.

Yes, being vaccinated and taking Paxlovid thankfully decrease the risk of severe disease. But only 43 percent of people age 65 and over and only 17 percent of all Americans had received an updated COVID vaccination by May 2023, and access to Paxlovid treatment is inequitable by race and insurance status.

Long-term complications of COVID can be devastating, including after second infections.

More than half a million Americans have died since the summer of 2021, when sufficient vaccine doses were available: COVID death rates in the United States continue to be double those of Canada. Termination of free tests and “commercialization” of medications as implemented by the federal government will only widen our country’s grisly COVID-related health disparities.

Inevitably, ignoring COVID leads to ignoring the slow-motion epidemic of long COVID. Standing up against such neglect, leaders like Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Governor Maura Healey can promote meaningful measures to protect our communities: air purification in all schools and public spaces; free COVID-preventive masks (KN95 or N95, not surgical masks); tests, vaccines, and Paxlovid for all who cannot afford to buy them; and concern for and support of long COVID victims.

We remain vulnerable to long COVID

Ashish Jha’s position as former White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator is a conflict of interest masquerading as a qualification for his op-ed. Researchers who study long COVID stated in a recent paper in Nature Reviews Immunology that “the oncoming burden of long COVID faced by patients, health-care providers, governments and economies is so large as to be unfathomable.” Rapid tests, which are less accurate with recent strains while PCR tests are less available, and low death rates give a false sense of security.

I agree that despite progress, more buildings need the air filtration and ventilation that would make public life safer. But Jha omits our vulnerability to long COVID after even mild infections, its devastating effects, and higher death rates for hospital-acquired COVID-19, combined with a lack of collective protection in health care settings with unmasked, untested people who prefer to ignore COVID-19.

Aside from advocating vaccines, he describes an everyone-for-themselves approach, not mentioning responsibility to protect others or access to essentials.

Jha dines in a restaurant with his friends while patients even in leading cancer hospitals are forced into Russian roulette, thanks to this approach.

Vigilance is necessary to prevent long COVID

While I understand the desire to promote optimism amid the ongoing pandemic, I am deeply concerned about the potential consequences of downplaying the importance of COVID precautions and the significant risk of long COVID. As a person living with long COVID for the last 16 months despite being vaccinated and boosted, I have experienced post-exertional malaise, fatigue, headaches, joint and muscle pain, cognitive dysfunction, and more symptoms that have continued to today. I have tried numerous medicines, supplements, and even participated in a clinical trial, only to find limited relief from the persistent effects of this virus.

Such a stance overlooks the reality that millions more people could end up with long COVID if we fail to remain vigilant in our efforts to combat the virus. Long COVID is a devastating consequence of this virus, and we cannot rely solely on vaccinations to end the pandemic. Even with widespread vaccination, the risk of contracting long COVID remains high. A recent study funded by the NIH’s RECOVER initiative showed that 10 percent of adults infected with COVID still have symptoms six months later. Minimizing the significance of long COVID not only neglects the suffering of long-haulers but also risks undermining public health efforts to control the spread of the virus.

By raising awareness about the risk of long COVID, media outlets can play a pivotal role in educating the public and promoting continued vigilance. Responsible reporting on the enduring impact of long COVID can serve as a reminder that the pandemic is far from over and that we must remain committed to taking necessary precautions to protect ourselves and others. Highlighting the struggles of long COVID survivors and the lack of proven treatments can spur further research and medical advancements in addressing this condition. Empathy and support for those living with long COVID are essential in paving the way for better understanding, compassionate care, and better health outcomes for everyone as COVID rates increase again this summer.

I. I need to know. Hosea's first few weeks or even months in modern times. How was he found? How was he with Bessie? How'd he adjust? Anything he loved/hated in particular? AND BESSIE???? HOSEA AND BESSIE STUFF IS JUST *CHEFS KISS*

Waking up was more peaceful than it had any right to be for Hosea. It was more like the slow confused raise of his head like he'd just fainted for a second. Bessie was the first thing he saw and he just melted into a smile so relieved and in love and happy to see her again before he started to realize she had aged, her hair was cut in a fashion he'd never seen before and wearing a skirt that fell just below her knees? Scandalous? Hot??

Admittedly any happy reunion was cut short by the revelation Lenny also died/timewarped just a few minutes after him and was having a much more violent awakening still wheezing and gasping for breath as if he was still trying to breathe through a collapsed lung. Comforting the young man he calls son was more important than simping. (Sean was fashionably late but soon took over because Lenny very much needed and wanted Sean more)

Did not give a single fuck about how or why or where he was. He held Bessie's face gently and kissed her like he expected the Devil to appear and drag him to the Hell he rightfully deserved after his lifetime.

Absolutely lovesick. Being able to stare at his wife who was still so beautiful with age so happy so healthy the way she looks at him with the same affection in her eyes takes away even the slightest fear or nausea on the drive home. Fortunately Lakay to Blackwater is a significant drive so they got to be introduced to a lot of modern era through passing through cities and towns on the trip.

People forget Hosea absolutely believed in all Dutch's anti-government freedom rhetoric so much - they were shared ideals they originally bonded over. They were the start of the VDLs. He would hate so much of modern era. Laughed the first time he saw taxes on Bessie's payslip and then got angry. First slang term he learns to use correctly is ACAB. Learning that the government recognized retirement age is 65-67? The government would expect him, at 55, to get a job? Bessie can't just retire and spend every waking moment in his arms?? Livid.

His saving grace is his wife. He loves her so, so much. She is practically a beast tamer, how quickly she can touch his arm and kiss his cheek and suddenly he's too happy and content in love to even think about setting the mayor's perfectly manicured garden on fire.

He never learns technology. He is still happy with newspapers and books thank you very much he genuinely does not understand wikipedia and thinks everyone is so intelligent when they look at their phone and suddenly know the answer to a question he asked. Bessie is secretly grateful she is almost certain if there was written record of the things he said about local council he would get arrested.

Hosea was the one to have the obligatory 'no i'm old and hideous now there's no way you could love me' moment because he thinks Bessie's wrinkles and grey hair and signs of age are as perfect as she is. Yet, he finds the exact same things in himself deformities. Bessie assures him he is as handsome as the day she fell in love with him.

Since Bessie is very happy with her job as a professor and Hosea detests much of modern era he is very happy being the house husband. He learns to use appliances and takes over cooking. He makes recipes from magazines and proper cook books. He is the ideal domestic man he is chasing the boys out the door to go to work/get a job with the same energy as his famous 'do something!!' lecture so he can mop and make sure the house is perfect for his beautiful hard working woman's return.

Bessie might dress modestly to most people's standards but coming from 1899 Hosea absolutely loses his mind. His wife wearing pants? Hot. A cardigan with just a shirt underneath? Practically in a state of undress? Genuinely concerned they could get arrested. Watching her do her hair nice and wear cheap jewelry that looks aesthetically nicer than fine jewels in 1899? Acts like he's dating a countess would crawl behind her if she told him to. 50s housedress that hug her waist? Old man is feral.

Honestly their modern era life is just everything Hosea craved and missed and mourned for when settling down with Bessie didn't work because of his stubbornness in 1883. He has absolutely no desire to return to crime (because getting away with crime is significantly harder in modern era (he still crimes. man is a kleptomaniac who plays confused old man with dementia whenever he gets caught)) after a proper second chance to do things right with Bessie. They read together, they listen to music, slow dance in the living room, go on walks through parks holding hands making everyone who sees them wish they had what Bessie and Hosea have.

Side note: Hosea very much has a type. Bessie is as strong-willed and sharp-tongued as Dutch and it is very obvious to anyone who sees how tightly she has him wrapped around his finger. She holds so much power over him just because of how much he loves her. Full Gomez Adaams 'look at her. i would die for her. i would kill for her. either way what bliss'. Fortunately, she is a genuinely very kind, patient, loving person who adores Hosea for the person and way he is and does not abuse the complete control she could have over husband.

JJJ's reputation has been tarnished and I will not stand for it.

This is the same man who punched out two (count em, 2) different white supremacists, who stood in front of a group of racists and called them wastes of time to their faces. He ordered a politician backed by the KKK to get out of his office. If this man actually ran a podcast, it'd be Civil Rights advocacy.

He hates Spidey because he hates the idea of masked vigilantes, beings who are above the law, who can't be documented. Who can do what they want with no consequences, despite the potential harm of innocent civilians.

In the Ultimates comics, this man gave multiple speeches about how he was wrong about Spider-Man. He describes how during the Ultimatum Wave, he watched Spidey dive in and out to save people and realized how wrong he was, saw in his own words what a real hero looked. And he started writing that BEFORE he learned Spidey had "died".

On Earth 65, he leads the charge against Gwen not because he just hates those Masked Menaces so much but because she was thought guilty of the murder of Peter Parker. He didn't even know the Parkers, but he still cared about the lives of every single stranger he came into contact with (hence why he became mayor).

He risks being murdered all the time to get the truth out. He's faced down masked supervillains and told them to fuck off. This is the same man who hired a 15 year old boy (not just bought photos from, hired) because he recently lost everything. In multiple universes, when he learns who Spidey is he starts helping him.

Making him an Alex Jones parody is funny for like two minutes, but it ultimately takes away from the depth in his character and kinda takes away from the Spidey story altogether.

Coronavirus in California keeps rising: Wastewater levels worse than last summer - Published July 22, 2024

Coronavirus levels in California’s wastewater now exceed last summer’s peak, an indication of the rapid spread of the super-contagious new FLiRT strains.

California has “very high” coronavirus levels in its wastewater — one of 21 states in that category, up from seven the prior week, according to estimates published Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That means about 155 million people — nearly half of America’s population — live in areas with “very high” coronavirus levels in sewage. Besides California, the other states with “very high” levels are Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming. Washington, D.C., is also in that category.

Coronavirus levels in wastewater are also surging in Los Angeles County — and the rate of increase has been accelerating. The county also has seen notable jumps this month in newly confirmed infections, coronavirus-positive hospitalizations and the share of emergency room visits attributable to COVID-19.

Nationally, overall viral levels in wastewater are considered “high” for the second straight week, the CDC said. The estimates are subject to change as more data come in.

Most Americans probably know a family member, friend, co-worker or acquaintance who has come down with COVID-19 recently, perhaps being infected while traveling or at a social gathering.

“If you call — I don’t know — 20 or 30 friends, you’re very, very likely to find a bunch of them actually have COVID, or have had COVID recently, or are starting to be symptomatic,” said Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly, a COVID expert and chief of research and development at the Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System in Missouri.

One notable recent case was President Biden, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday while traveling in Las Vegas. Biden returned to Delaware to recover. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass tested positive a few weeks ago, and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) said Tuesday that she was celebrating her birthday while recovering from COVID.

“Our fight against COVID is not over!” Lee said on social media.

Across the nation, COVID-19’s shadow has become more pronounced lately, with the usual seasonal uptick in travel and socialization spawning a fresh spate of infections. Many cases are relatively mild, but nevertheless disruptive — forcing trips or plans to be canceled.

Some recently infected people have described painful COVID symptoms, such as a throat that feels like it’s studded with razor blades. Overall, however, there are no indications the FLiRT subvariants are associated with increased illness severity that would trigger a substantial increase in hospitalizations.

The CDC estimates that COVID-19 infections are growing or likely growing in 41 states, including California. There are no states where the coronavirus is declining or likely declining.

The COVID resurgence comes as the sprawling FLiRT family is increasing its dominance nationally. For the two-week period that ended Saturday, the CDC estimates that about 80% of the nation’s coronavirus specimens are of the FLiRT subvariants, up from about 65% for the same period a month earlier.

Across California, the rate at which COVID tests are returning positive results is also on the rise. For the week that ended July 15, 12.8% of tests came back positive. That’s up from 5.9% a month earlier and close to last summer’s peak of 13.1%, which was recorded at the end of August and early September.

For the 10-day period that ended July 6, the most recent for which data are available, coronavirus levels in Los Angeles County wastewater were at 36% of last winter’s peak, up from 27% for the 10-day period that ended June 29.

Newly confirmed COVID cases are rising faster, too. For the week that ended July 14, there were an average of 359 new cases a day in L.A. County, up from 307 the prior week. A month earlier, there were 154 cases a day.

Official COVID-19 case tallies are certainly an undercount, as those figures include only tests done at medical facilities, not those taken at home, and also don’t account for the fact that fewer people are testing when they feel sick. But the overall trends are still helpful to determine the trajectory of the summer wave.

COVID hospitalizations are also ticking up, though they remain below last summer’s peak. For the week that ended July 13, there were an average of 287 COVID-positive people per day in L.A. County hospitals, up from 139 for the comparable period a month earlier. Last summer’s peak was the week that ended Sept. 9, when an average of 620 COVID-positive patients were in the region’s hospitals per day.

For the week that ended July 14, L.A. County reported that 2.8% of all emergency room visits were COVID-related — up from 1.8% for the comparable period a month earlier, but below last summer’s peak of 5.1%.

Over the weekend, the Park Fire grew to more than 360,000 acres, prompting evacuation orders and warnings around Chico, Calif. in Butte, Plumas, Shasta and Tehama counties. In the days ahead, Cal Fire will seek to contain the blaze to reduce harm to people, structures and the environment. However, months from now when the rains come and the fires are extinguished, a hidden threat could put communities at risk once again.

When the mayor of Las Vegas, N.M., issued a warning in 2022 to its 13,000 residents, it wasn’t over a fire — they had recently lived through the state’s largest wildfire in its history: Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak. The dire warning was that the city had 30 days of clean water left. The 2022 monsoon rains covered the Gallinas watershed, where cleared trees from the Santa Fe National Forest and ash-covered grounds made for flash-flood conditions. The storms introduced massive amounts of carbon from burned trees and plant life into the streams and reservoirs. Water treatment couldn’t keep up, making their stores undrinkable.

Around 60 to 65 percent of the United States’ drinking water comes from forested areas. As fires burn in these areas, they increase the risk of cancer-causing and toxic substances entering water supplies. An estimated 53.3 million U.S. residents who live in areas with significant wildfire risk may face damaged drinking water infrastructure from those flames.

Megafires burn land at higher temperatures across wider areas than standard wildfires, putting watersheds across the United States at greater risk. Sheila Murphy, a research hydrologist at the U.S. Geological Survey working on the effects of wildfires on water quality, says burned areas fundamentally alter a watershed’s hydrology. As wildfires burn hotter and consume more trees and structures, water quality will continue to worsen, research suggests.

When watersheds burn, the threat starts in the forests, continues to water treatment plants, and can expand to communities and households. To meet these risks, it will take a coalition of informed community members, scientists and city officials to work toward solutions to protect clean water supplies.

Carol Cóndor returns on the Wii in 2009 for Punch-Out!! ranked as the #1 boxer on the Mayor circuit. He's seen more aggressive and angsty this time sporting makeup reminiscing of death metal while keeping his signature smile. Despite his more intimidating behavior on this instalment of the game his attacks are easily predictable.

His montage shows how his aggressiveness and lack of finesse made him fail at dancing contests, making him turn to boxing. In Title defense he seems unhappy and irritated, smudging the makeup on his face, so he returns to his dancer roots wearing his Huaso boots with spurs.

When taunting he will quickly raise one of his legs going for a fake kick. Dodging it will make Carol laugh and throw a fast punch, dodging the punch gives a stun opportunity. You can body blow him as he raises his leg to earn a star. In title defense he will actually kick the player, shortening the star opportunity window.

His signature attack "The Earthquake" also got more aggressive. He will back up and stomp the ground two times and charge the player (similarly to Bald Bull's "Bull Charge"). He then throws an overhead punch (similar to Mr. Sandman's) staying bent over for a bit, then throwing an uppercut as he stomps the floor once again.

Au where Danny somehow managed to wipe any proof of his existence from the face of the planet, including the memories people had of him. He tells himself this was fine. Better than fine actually.

This just means that his loved ones were less likely to get hurt in the crossfire. Also Vlad is now clueless as to why he's in Amity in the first place and as Mayor no less. He resigns within a week to go back to Wisconsin after three days of nonstop blathering from Jack.

Danny basically starts living in a lake in the woods, its not like he needs to breath and he finds the water calming. Also the fish are friendly. Plus there's a cave nearby if he needed to stay in human form for whatever reason.

He had water and shelter, down now he just needed access to food unless he wanted to eat his new fish friends.

This is when Danny learned he could use the weird magical girl ring to shape-shift into other people.

So he got into the habit of transforming into one of the residents of a house and raiding the pantries.

This turned out to be a pretty open secret amongst the people of Amity Park. They knew it was Phantom, primarily because he's a terrible liar but also because people have cell phones and communicate.

This is never really an issue since no one tells the Fentons or the Feds. At least, it wasn't an issue until the Justice League came sniffing around. The people of Amity have only become more untrusting of the government as years passed and became equally as protective over thier local ghostboy. So everytime they came around no one but the Fentons would say anything to them other than, "Leave." Or "You're not wanted here." Before walking away.

It was a day like any other for Phantom. Some teens had rented out a house in town, likely to experience the most haunted town in America. Whatever. Teens always bring the best snacks.

So he transformed into the cute redheaded guy right after they left and walked past the living room towards the kitchen like he's done a dozen times before.

"Uh, Wally?" Dannys head whipped around to see the black haired teen sitting on the couch, his blue eyes wide with shock and worry. The one with a Superman t-shirt on. "Are you ok? Your heartbeat is really slow."

Danny could only think of one word to sum up this situation. Fuuuuuckk

Au where all the ghosts hide thier real names on instinct, not only because knowing a ghosts name gives you power over them but because you could use thier name to potentially find thier grave through magic or Google.

Once you find thier bones there's no shortage of what you could do.

Due to the nature of Embers obsession she isn't able to hide her name and during a fight she reveals to Phantom she lives in a constant state of anxiety fearing someone might find her body and use it against her

Phantom knocks on her door a week later with not only her body but her entire casket floating behind him. She's oddly touched. This is probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for her. Word, of course, spreads of this and other spirits ask him to do the same for them and are willing to make deals

Another week later Batman is investigating all the robbed graves and trying to figure out wtf is going on

Edit: Yes the removal of the caskets cause the graves to sink in and thats how Batman is alerted to the issue. I had left this as an implication but felt the need to clarify due to people talking about it in the notes.

Edit 2: You could also have a grave keeper see Phantom stealing caskets and alert authorities. Whats more this is likely happening in more than just Gotham. You could also have another ghost/ a magic user see this super powerful spirit robbing graves and being like, "Well that seems ominous. I should tell someone about that."

Au where Danny ends up in Gotham and gets saved by the birds while in human form. He starts pseudo haunting them before returning to Amity Park.

He frequently pops back in to Gotham to invisibility give gifts to the batfam.

Dick gets circus themed things that seem to move around the manor when no one is looking.

Stephanie and Tim both get comics, manga and movies from different dimensions and its only once they start looking up fandoms/ going on Twitter do they realize that these manga/movies apparently don't exist.

The same thing happens with Jason and books. The weird part is that after he finishes reading one of the books for the nth time, (the ones that he and Duke swears glow) and finally retires it to the shelf they disappear. This only happens with the glowey books though. He gets to keep the others

Damian keeps getting new swords, which everyone but him has a problem with.

Duke keeps getting things that activate his powers and he can't really make heads or tails from most of it.

Cass gets lots of soft things like stuffed animals that are nice for hugs and other sensory reasons and dance stuff. Her favorite so far is a gigantic bat in a tutu.

Barbara and Tim (he gets double i guess) both get tech stuff that they've never seen before and make a hobby of reverse engineering the new product of the week.

Alfred gets all sorts of gag gifts like an apron that says "I'm the real boss here" and a mug that has a fancy mustache on the bottom that matches his real one

Bruce gets almost exclusively much bat themed gifts.

No one is sure where the stuff is coming from (and in Jason's case where its going) but they all assume its someone else in the family doing it because its themed around both thier hero and thier personal interests. It finally comes to a head when the batfam are all out together when they come home to find a beautiful and ornate sword laying on the kitchen table for Damian and they all simultaneously realize no one had been home to put it there.

Alfred gets the shotgun while everyone else enters detectives mode.

Danny himself doesn't even realize the extent in which he's been messing with them and doesn't really think past the, "I hope they like their gifts" thing.

Au where Danny gets deaged by a magical artifact in the GZ and gets lost in a different dimension with Cujo. While exploring Gotham as Phantom he decides to play up the little kid routine and use his puppy friend to do it.

At this point Danny had finally trained the pup and he actually listened to him. Needless to say there's a certain flock of bats and birds who keep pestering him at night. All he's trying to do is explore the city and play with his dog. Is that so bad?

Danny doesnt usually bother hiding from them. Not much point considering he shines like a spotlight in Gothams gloom anytime he's in his phantom form. Plus Cujo is glowy and green, so that doesn't help matters.

Danny usually runs them on a wild goose chase in the name of "Tag" before disappearing. He stole Batmans cape by phasing it off of him and he now uses it as a blanket at night (its surprisingly warm), he stole another one at Red Hoods request and gave it to him, he's set up play dates between Cujo and Harleys hyenas, he's pied Joker in the face, he's pet Penguins pet penguins right in front of him, he's been trapped in an elevator with Brucie Wayne for two hours, he's had a tea party with Catwomans cats and may have broken into her apartment to do it, he's kidnapped Red Robin and made him go to the park and play on the swings with him, he's gotten into actual fights with Robin and last but not least, he came up with the Puppy Paw of Approval.

Nightwing stared at the kid they had been chasing every other night for the last three months now, confused. "Whats the Puppy Paw of Approval?"

The kid moved the puppy, Cujo (which Jason finds hilarious) up in front of his face, holding him there by his armpits.

The dog was making the "no thoughts head empty" face with his tongue sticking out just a smidge. Dick was tempted to coo. "The Puppy Paw of Approval is an award! Arf!" The kid said in a higher pitched pretend voice.

"Its awarded to people we really really like! Arf!"

Nightwing gasped dramatically, playing along with the boy, "You really like me that much?"

"Of course!" The boy floated over to Dick and places one of the dogs paws on the man's chest. "Da da da daaa!" The kid sang, "You now have the Puppy Paw of Approval!"

The vigilante sniffled, "I will always cherish this! Thank you!"

The kid giggled and Cujo barked at him. The little green rottweiler panted up at him with a giants smile and his little nub tail wagging a mile and minute.

God, Nightwing couldn't wait for his newest little brother to join the family.

Dick was dismayed to learn he was actually the second person to get the PPA. The first being Tim, the third being Harley and the forth being Catwoman. Ivy was apparently salty about not getting one but the kid was scared of her for some reason.

Danny makes friends with lots of people throughout the city. Scarecrow learns of the bats recruitment attempts on this boy and decides to use the fear toxin on him. This has the unexpected outcome of making the child cry.

And then the whole city was out for his head.

My #1 post of 2022

Theres a new mom and pop coffee shop in Gotham that's doing pretty well. The place has a casual playful vibe but it only ever has one employee, which has lead to it having a bit of a urban myth status.

He's there through all the opening hours and no one ever sees him come or go, only the lights switching off and the teen disappearing.

It probably doesn't help that the shop has a ghost themed name.

His name tag reads, "Nightingale" and he always has a polite smile, but the few who dare to act out in his shop notice his eyes flash a particular shade of green and are suddenly overcome with the feeling that they're being stared down by a large apex predator and a sickening sense of dread.

Needless to say people behave in his shop.

Whats more is that his store shows up on county records just fine, but if you try to look into anything your computer glitches out and you can't find anything. Obviously "Nightingale" can't be the owner, he looks only 15. Some say he's a vampire, others say he's a zombie like Red Hood.

Tim doesn't care what he is because the first time he entered at night as Red Robin the guy immediately started making a coffee were he could see, made it exactly how he liked it and gave it to him before he even had the chance to order. Then he refused his money, saying it was on the house.

None of the people waiting in line argued or were upset and Tim was unsure if that was because he was a well known Gotham vigilante or it Nightingales reputation protected him.

Either way the coffee was delicious.

Tim didn't know how to feel when he found out his family was investigating the "possible runaway" who worked at the coffee shop.

THE BAEK FAMILY:

HABILIDAD: PERSUASIÓN (1/3).

Kyung-Gu (65): Dueño de múltiples empresas y negocios en el país, Kyung-Gu es un hombre serio y con porte elegante, no suele demostrar mucho cariño con palabras pero siempre ha sido un buen padre y esposo, no estuvo mucho en casa cuando sus hijos eran pequeños pero se aseguró de proveer y que no les faltara nada.

Se-Jung (60): Se quedó en casa a cuidar de su familia, la madre más dedicada que conoce Jin, una mujer de muchos valores y la amabilidad hecha persona. Jin le tiene mucho respeto y cariño a su madre, quien los crió a todos y les dio mucho amor creciendo.

Min-Ho (38): Primer hijo, a cargo de algunas empresas familiares. Su relación con Jin es buena, pero no son tan cercanos como solían serlo hace años, de igual manera, no se ven tan seguido.

Tae-hyung (34): Probablemente con quien tiene peor relación de sus hermanos, sus personalidades naturalmente chocan y parece que no pueden llegar a ningún acuerdo, sólo se hablan cuando es necesario. No se tienen ningún sentimiento negativo, simplemente la manera en la que son no llegan a permitir una buena convivencia.

Jin (29): Abogado y viudo. Después de la muerte de su esposa, entró en una depresión que le duró años, hasta que pudo salir, mucho de ello se debe al gran apoyo que fueron sus mismos familiares y cercanas amistades, que en su peor momento no dejaron que se quedara en el hoyo donde él mismo se había metido.

Min-Ji (24): Ex esposa. El primer amor de Jin, con quien se casó y en su momento planeó pasar su vida entera con ella, lastimosamente, al estar tratando un caso de personas sumamente peligrosas, terminó en que se deshicieran de ella para evitar que Jin siguiera con el caso que les traería problemas.

Nari (25): La hermana con la que es más cercano de todos, Nari es carismática y con una amabilidad característica, es quien más le apoyó después de la muerte de su esposa y desde entonces, a pesar de estar en lugares muy distintos, se mantienen en contacto constante.

Ye-Ji (22): Su hermana bebé. A pesar de que Yeji haya crecido, no puede dejar de verla como una pequeña, que a ella no le molesta el trato que le da, le gusta ser consentida y agradece la figura protectora que le ofrecía Jin.

Hyun-Jin (10): El deportista de la familia, el niño más activo que conoce, practica demasiados deportes como para llevarle la cuenta, asistiendo a múltiples clases a la semana, sin parar. Es agradable y se lleva bien con Jin, no son tan cercanos ya que el mayor no es muy deportista por su parte.

Soo-Yun (5): Una pequeña diva. Jin sigue diciendo que deben corregir las actitudes que la pequeña está tomando, pero lastimosamente le dejan hacer lo que quiera. Jin no aprecia las personas que carecen de humildad por lo que a pesar de ser pequeña, trata de evitar iniciar conversaciones con ella.

Ji-Won (3): Siempre hay un ipad kid en la familia y Jiwon es el de los Baek, se la pasa en su tableta jugando y viendo vídeos, pero a pesar de eso, se lleva muy bien con Jin, siempre le quiere enseñar sus cosas favoritas y el mayor está más que encantado en acompapñarle.

Hye-Jin (1): La nueva adición a la familia, Jin no ha podido convivir mucho con la pequeña desde que entró a la academia pero sus familiares se aseguran de enseñarle a la pequeña por videollamada y mandarle suficientes fotos para que vaya viendo su crecimiento.

THE FALCONE FAMILY:

HABILIDAD: OBSERVACIÓN (1/3).

Antonio (65): La cabeza de los Falcone, ex presidente de Italia y venerado en el país, amado generalmente por todo el país, Isabella no es tan cercana con él, debido a que la mayor parte de su vida sólo la veía como una decoración más.

Giorgia (60): Actual presidenta del consejo de ministros de Italia, a Isabella le parece la mujer más admirable que ha conocido, es bastante cercana con ella y fue la que le convenció de acudir a la academia.

Luka (40): El mayor de los hermanos y con el que mejor se lleva, al no llevarse muy bien con su padre, Isabella tomó a Luka como su figura paterna desde muy pequeña y el mayor lo aceptó, hasta día de hoy viéndola como una hija.

Dario (38): Fue el que siguió el camino de la política, siendo guiado por su padre y esperando llegar a ser presidente de su país pronto, planeando lanzarse como candidato en un par de años todavía. Su relación con Isabella es normal, nada especial, él es mucho más cercano con Camilla.

Camilla (35): La cara de los hijos Falcone, la que se llevan a todos los eventos y ella misma organiza más, es conocida en su país por constantes galas benéficas, cosa que hace que sea querida. Isabella no se considera muy cercana a ella debido a que sus personalidades suelen chocar bastante.

Arianna (30): Isabella le considera su hermana favorita, sin temor a decirlo en voz alta. Arianna tiene su propia empresa y es una mujer independiente, recientemente divorciada pero no fue algo que detuvo nada en su vida.

Allegra (28): Abogada, parte de un bufete prestigioso del país. Mucho como Camilla, Isabella podría contar que Allegra cuenta con problemas de ira, que le hacen buscar confrontamientos constantes, el tipo de persona que siempre quiere tener la razón. A pesar de eso, se llevan bastante bien, ambas casi siempre pegadas a Arianna.

Renzo (26): El hermano con el que se crió más de cerca, con quien tiene la mejor relación fraternal, tienen sus peleas pero en general, siempre pueden contar el uno con el otro. Tiene planes para casarse el próximo año y le ha pedido a Isabella ser su best woman.

Isabella (24): La menor de los hermanos, suele llevarse bien con la mayoría. Conocida como la segunda Camilla, usada en su mayoría para llevarla a eventos constantes para dar una buena imagen a su familia. Su talento con la programación haciendo que por fin le dejaran dedicarse a ello.

Fabrizio (16): Fue bastante cercano con Isabella en algún punto, pero ella supone que por estar pasando en aquella fase de la adolescencia, casi no se hablan ya. En general, Fabrizio suele mantenerse callado a menos que sea en su grupo de amigos.

Chiara (15): Isabella la adora a más no poder, la considera su hermana menor y Chiara reciproca todo afecto que le da, le considera su mejor amiga, a quien va por consejos y le cuenta todo de su vida.

Giovanni (10): El pequeño es muy decidido, tiene planeado ya ser abogado en un futuro como su padre y su tía, aunque es apoyado, nadie le quiere presionar a tomar decisiones tan pronto, es un niño brillante, pero no le habla tanto a Isabella.

Camilla II (8): A pesar de llevar el nombre de su hermana mayor, la pequeña Camilla es considerada una mini Isabella, tienen casi la misma personalidad carismática aunque ambas valoran su tiempo en silencio, una niña muy inteligente para su edad.

Antonio II (5): Al que más consciente de todos, es el más activo actualmente de la familia y las veces que lo ve siempre lo lleva a hacer alguna actividad de su preferencia, volviendo a casa siempre con un regalo nuevo que ella se asegura de comprarle.

Gianna (4): La más callada de los niños, al menos por ahora. A pesar de ser unos meses mayor, suele esconderse detrás de Aria si tiene la oportunidad, no es de muchas palabras y prefiere sólo jugar por su cuenta.

Aria (4): Actualmente pasando por una fase donde exige que todos le llamen princesa y se rehúsa a ser llamada por su nombre, una niña muy chistosa y amable pero definitivamente tiene una actitud explosiva.

Dario II (3): El ipad kid de su generación, es muy pequeño pero casi siempre le verás con su aparato electrónico viendo videos o jugando uno de sus tantos juegos.
