I’m still sick so I decided to brush up on my Pokémon….
Tumblr media
Here’s Wan Ji’s team if she had Pokémon.
Rufioh would be an Arcanine but it felt weird putting him on a Pokémon team.

I couldn't sleep, so I made a list of pokemon teams for Avatar the Last Airbender.
TEAM AVATAR
Aang- Bouffalant (Appa), Emolga (Momo), Flygon (earth), Charizard (fire), Togetic/kiss or Alteria? (air), Mantine (water)
Katara- Lapras, Froslass (to represent the Painted Lady), Chansey (healing), Tentacruel? (poison type to represent bloodbending?), Primarina? (Starter?), Basculegion (to represent her tribe and their losses for which she fights)
Sokka- Lucario (given to him as a Riolu by Suki), Tyrogue (might evolve into Hitmontop, might not evolve at all), Ursaluna (given to him as a teddiursa by Yue), Minior (to represent the meteor he made his sword out of. Probably blue color, but maybe shiny?), Samurott (his starter probably), Klinklang (to represent his tinkering skills)
Toph- Excadrill (badgermoles, obviously), Steelix (metalbending), Machamp (her championship title), Tinkaton, Gallade (given to her as a Ralts by her parents as a kind of "seeing eye pokemon" that she turned into a fighter. Kept an everstone on it until she joined the gaang), Bewear (another gift from parents, but this time as more like a bodyguard.)
Zuko- Pyroar M (prince), Doublade (swords), Ceruledge (blue spirit), Annihilape (anger issues), Alolan Marrowak (mom issues), Kommo-o (dragon)
Suki- Mienshao, Urshifu (I want her to have 3, but couldn't think of a good 3rd one, except maybe she has both forms of Urshifu?)
FIRE NATION
Iroh- Drampa (old man/dragon, often underestimated), Turtonator (fire dragon), Polteageist (tea), Emboar (they have the same body type lol), Darmanitan (zen), Kingambit (I know pai sho isn't chess, but it's the closest we got, ok?)
Ozai- Houndoom, Infernape, Moltres? (The comet?), Magmortar, Zoroark (trickery), Mabosstiff?
Azula- Luxray, Pyroar F, Morpeko, Jolteon, Flareon, Chandelure? (Blue fire)
Mai- Salazzle, Umbreon, Malamar
Ty Lee- Mr Mime, Oricorio-baile style, Eevee
Zhao- Blaziken, Talonflame, Incineroar, Armarouge
OTHER
Bumi- Gigalith
Yue- Goldeen, Lunatone (shiny)
Cabbage Guy- Bulbasaur
Jet- Weavile, Sneasler
Notable extras:
• Use Hypnos in Ba Sing Se for the conspiracy
• Sand benders (Si Wong tribes) use Hippopotas, Palosand, and Sandiles mostly
• Wan Shi Yong is an Alpha Noctowl
• Foggy Swamp Tribe use mostly Ludicolo line, Carnivine, Poliwag line, and Tangrowth lines, but any swampy pokemon will do. Bugs are common.
• As Lee, Zuko only uses his Doublade and Marrowak
• I want Spark Sparky Boom Man to use an Unown with a max power psychic type Hidden Power, but I don't know enough about Hidden Power mechanics to be sure that would work.
• Does penguin sledding use Delibird, Eiscue, or the Piplup line? These are the important questions!
• I purposefully made it so only the main characters/bad guys had more than 3 pokemon.
• I almost gave Zuko a Rayquaza, but he wouldn't have a legendary until he becomes Fire Lord
• Except for the Bouffalant, all Aang's pokemon can fly. (Regional varient that can fly?)
• As he is the Avatar, should all Aang's pokemon be shiny?
• Azula's crew all have an eeveelution. Azula has two, and I imagine the flareon used to belong to Zuko, but it was taken from him after the Agni Kai and banishment.
• Ty Lee wants to keep her eevee unevolved. Azula might convince her to "make it more powerful." If she does, it'll be a Sylveon.
• Zuko and Azula's mom got both of them a litleo each as kids.
• Fire Nation mostly use fire types, but electric are common enough. Earth Kingdom is mostly ground and rock, but steel is ok. Air Nomads obviously use mostly flying, but fairy is common. Water Tribes use mostly water and ice, but obviously the swamp tribe uses grass.
• The Earth King still has just a bear. It's not a pokemon. It's a bear.

Pokemon Western Lesbians - Mienshao/Weavile
Below is an intro story for a few of my OCs, set in a Western setting in a town of Fighting types, of two girlfailures that I love very much.
Her duty was to protect.
Nabi the Mienshao trained for years under a harsh but firm master, an Urshifu by the name of Shui. He was gone, spending the rest of his days in solitude after leaving the town in her hands. He taught her everything she needed to know about fighting and how to use those skills to protect. She had mastered both her own instinctive martial arts and her master’s, a style known as wushu.
She was good. The townsfolk felt safe with Nabi in charge. They looked up to her, cherished her, and gave her the name “Custodian.” She was quite fond of the term and preferred it over the stuffy “Sheriff” title she held. Cleaning up messes was a specialty of hers, after all.
She was a bulwark; a barrier any Pokémon must pass if they wanted to cause trouble in their small town.
Unfortunately for all of them, something had already broken through.
And, Arceus dammit, she was such a pain in the ass sometimes.
“Oi! Ya done trying to stare holes into that stack of papers yet? Cause I gotta tell ya, it ain’t doing shit.”
Nabi took a slow breath before she spared a glance up from her pile of paperwork to level a blank look at the offending voice.
A wide, shit-eating grin leered at her, a Weavile standing much closer to her own face than she expected.
Nabi stumbled back, falling to the floor while her chair toppled over. The meticulously organized papers scattered everywhere around her in the surprise attack.
“Reshiram’s Blazing Flame, Jessie! What were you thinking?” she asked as she looked past the snickering Weavile towards the door. No one appeared to be peering through into her office. She let out a breath in relief before turning to glare at the offending Pokémon.
Jessie continued to snicker and in answer stuck her tongue out at the Mienshao.
Nabi’s deadpan stare was her own response. “Classy, Jessie. Real mature for a grown Pokémon to be acting this way while the Sheriff is trying to do her job,” she said, standing up off the ground and turning to pick up the loose scattered papers surrounding her.
A shard of ice struck the floor near her a moment later, startling Nabi. The Mienshao eyed the shard, a single paper stuck underneath it; it was a blank form, nothing important. It never was.
“Ya gotta be that stuck up all the time, Nabs? I’m just having fun here,” she pouted, throwing her claws behind her head and leaning against the wall behind Nabi’s desk.
“No, I just need to have an ounce of professionalism while I’m working, Jess,” she snapped, but not with any real venom behind it. She knew Jessie was bored and felt genuinely apologetic for taking this long to finish things up. “I’m sorry, by the way. This…problem child is a nuisance, as per usual.”
“What, ‘ol Caleb? Nah, he’s a sweetie on the inside, that Lucario. And dontcha worry that pretty little head of yours,” she said, smirk glued to Jessie’s face. “It’s fun, y’know, seeing ya work. Seeing the lady being all proper like.”
She pushed off the wall and meandered over to where she struck the floor with her attack, pulling out her shard with a tug. The Weavile looked to her right, spotted the open window in Nabi’s office, and expertly chucked it outside. “Jessie! There could be other Pokémon out there!” Nabi exclaimed, flailing her arms in distress. Jessie just greeted her with that same toothy smile of hers before she moved to help clean up the papers off the floor. Curse her, Nabi thought. Curse her for how effective that look was.
“Relax, ya’ silly goober. There’s that whole feast happening over at ‘ol Miss Callahan’s farmstead. Ain’t no way anyone just walking around all willy-nill-”
“Now, what do we have here? ‘Errything alright in there, Nabi?” a voice called from outside, freezing both the Mienshao and Weavile in their tracks.
Nabi just stared daggers at Jessie. The Weavile shrugged helplessly, her stupid smile still etched on her face.
“Oops?” she whispered, all conspiratorial.
“Oops?! You balmy fool! Now hide, quick!” Nabi hushed back. She gestured for Jessie to hide behind a filing cabinet in the corner of her office. The Weavile glared at her, but complied; not, of course, before sticking a middle claw up at her. Taking a deep breath, Nabi turned toward the window. “Things are fine in here, Castor! Don’t you worry that head of yours none, I got it handled.”
“Whatever you say, sir,” Castor said, his firm voice flying in through the window. Resolute and stoic as ever. Castor was Nabi’s first deputy, a Sneasler that moved in from a mountainous region close by. The sound of his footsteps from the window trailed off, signaling the deputy’s departure.
Nabi sighed, turning around to chide Jessie again when she felt a weight crash into her, knocking her to the ground in a huff. Nabi’s eyes flashed to meet Jessie’s, a fire burning in the Mienshao’s at the challenge. Again, that smirk from before was there, along with a devious complexion on the Weavile’s face.
“Oh, come on, sir. How long do we have to hide? I ain’t do nothing wrong in years,” she said, licking her lips in exaggeration. “Other ‘Mons, they know we’re close, Nabs. Why ya always gotta put on this front, eh?”
Nabi didn’t hesitate. She reached around quickly with her whip-like appendages before wrapping tightly around the Weavile before she could react, trapping the dual Dark/Ice-type’s arms to her side, before being lifted off the ground with ease.
Jessie’s eyes bulged a bit at that, smirk gone and replaced with a confused stare, dangling above Nabi. This confusion only grew as, with the same fire burning in Nabi’s eyes, the Mienshao brought her down to just before her face, and whispered, “Because I love you, you great yack.”
And then she kissed her. Nabi closed just the minimal hair’s breadth distance between their lips, as she held the Weavile’s body tight against her own, loosening her grip just a touch to allow Jessie control of her own arms again. Those arms quickly moved under hers, grabbing tight at the fur up and around her shoulders, pushing into the kiss with hunger. A few moments, maybe minutes, neither were sure, before Jessie pulled back and stared hungrily into Nabi’s eyes, red eyes meeting red, as equals.
“And ain’t that the problem, sweet thing? I want them to know. I ain’t scared of no retribution,” Jessie huffed, panting a bit.
“But I am, Jess,” Nabi whispered, barely audible. “Reshiram only knows how worried I am, a Dark and Ice-type Pokémon in a small little town of Fighting types?”
Jessie responded with a sneer, but Nabi cut her off before she could voice her complaint. “Yes, yes, I damn well know you can handle yourself. It’s not that…well, not really,” she said, turning to break their eye contact for only a moment to collect her thoughts before returning her gaze. “I know this town. I love this town. But I don’t trust everyone. I don’t trust them as a whole not to make a rash decision, if certain things were to be made public knowledge.”
“What, like we bang?” Jessie scoffed.
Nabi flushed a bit for a moment before steel again entered her gaze. “Zekrom’s Spark, never change Jessie…but yes, that. And all it implies.”
They sat there for a bit, taking in each other’s face, slowly recovering from their brief tussle. A far-off look seemed to take over the Weavile’s eyes for a moment, before she muttered, more formal than she’d ever been in all the time Nabi knew her.
“You ashamed of me, Nabs?”
Guilt tore through Nabi, the words and expression on her lover’s face a one-two punch that took her breath away. She attempted to respond, but hesitated. Was she? No, she loved this beef-headed Weavile, but the fears of what her town would think overwhelmed her. But then, what was that feeling, if not shame?
Jessie caught the hesitation on her snout and closed her eyes, turning her head to the side, and letting out a sigh.
It was so much like a sound Nabi would make that Nabi could not stand to hear it again nor see that expression any longer.
“No, Jess. I am not ashamed of you. I’m just…worried. Very much so. But I see how it looks, and I want to work with you to be better,” she said, using her arms to turn Jessie’s face toward hers, trying to convey as much genuine care as she truly felt.
The vacant look on Jessie’s face turned a little thoughtful at her words, a little more of her energy from before, as she said, “Alright, lady, ya got my attention. Whatcha got?”
“We try your idea. We don’t flaunt anything, but we don’t hide, either. In exchange, you have to be a little more careful with your brazen actions, and you need to let me know if anyone gives you trouble. And if you find trouble…run away. Don’t confront anyone. Come and find me. We deal with whatever happens together. Sound okay?”
Nabi waited on a response, tension filling her as a blank look took over Jessie’s face once more.
“You’re telling me we get to show off, and if anyone throws up a snuff, we get to kick their ass together?” she asked, starting off slowly, but picking up speed as she raced through her question. That toothy smile appeared again, and her red eyes lit up. “No shit I’m okay with this! Let’s do it. All else fails, we leave this backwater town behind, eh?”
Jessie moved into hug Nabi, pushing her head and crown into Nabi’s neck. Nabi felt a little wetness collect in her fur as Jessie chuckled a bit into her side. Chuckles escaped Nabi too as she held on tight, but the last part of Jessie’s statement gave her pause. Shui gave her a duty. This town was under her protection. The Custodian persevered and preserved. She loved this town. Would she be able to leave it all behind if it came to that?
She didn’t have an answer. In her mind, she much preferred fighting tooth and claw for Jessie while the inevitability of their acceptance came to pass. Naïve at best.
Still, not like she had to have an answer now. Holding her beloved, she nuzzled back, basking in the comfort her weight provided.
“So, uh, you want this Coba Berry soup, sir?”
Jessie jerked to look at the voice, bonking her head into Nabi’s. Both of the Pokémon on the ground groaned out in pain. Jessie rolled off Nabi, away from the voice at the door to Nabi’s office, while Nabi turned to look at the intruder. Her first deputy, Castor, stood there holding two bowls of soup, a bored expression on his face.
“Yes, that sounds lovely, Castor. Mind leaving it on my table while I clean up?”
He nodded, moving to place a bowl on her desk. The Sneasler turned around with his own bowl of soup, moving to his own smaller office somewhere else in the building.
“You two are really cute, by the by. Nice to see you again, Jessie. Glad you’re working out together.”
His words floated through the door. Nabi and Jessie both stared at where he left, the sound of his own door shutting lessened by the distance, before their eyes met once again. Jessie was the first to speak.
“Did ya tell hi-”
“No, of course I didn’t!”
Nabi sighed. Castor knew. Of course he did. Well, she supposed it could be worse than having one of her closest allies in her work also be a staunch supporter of her new public relationship. Her soft joy at that melted a bit when she saw a devious look grow on Jessie’s face again, a trickle of fear moving down her spine.
She jumped up off the floor and moved to the door, glancing side-to-side at the opening to make sure no one else was around. Nabi was close behind her, moving to stop whatever plan she had cooked up.
“Jessie, wait–”
“She ‘Cast-or’ lot in with me, deputy. Of course it’ll work out!” she shouted toward his door. No response, but a light chuckle muffled its way through. A smug look overtook her features, and she turned to throw a wink Nabi’s way.
Nabi just grumbled.
“I’m going to regret this decision, aren’t I?”

Karn_EX and PragMagiks recently made a video giving the Digimon Tamers cast Pokemon to be gym leaders. I loved most of their picks, but felt the picks for Jian and Suzie to be pretty uninspired. Here are my alternate picks:
Tumblr media
Suzie was previously given the Fairy type with Wigglytuff, Clefable, Dedenne, and Togekiss. Half of the reasons given for these were "they're a reference to uhhh... how she uhh.. uses Terriermon like a doll." I take issue with this because that reasoning is based on Suzie's relationship with Terriermon and has nothing to do with Lopmon. So, I gave her the Fighting type.
First of all, Shiny Lopunny's resemblance to Lopmon, as I've pointed out previously, is uncanny. So Mega Lopunny has been given to her as her ace for obvious reasons. Mienshao is a visual reference to Antylamon who also uses the "long arms" type fighting style, and Gallade is a reference to Antylamon's move: "Bunny Blades". Bewear, finally, is indeed a reference to Suzie's treatment of Terriermon that fits in her character.
For Jian, then, I slightly updated their choices.
Tumblr media
All I did was change Bewear, previously Jian's ace, to Silvally. I thought Bewear was a really odd pick for Jian's ace, as it was completely a reference to Terriermon's relationship with Suzie. So I made Diggersby, the Gargomon nod, Jian's ace. Silvally is a reference to Jian's initial hesitation to allow Terriermon to fight and their journey afterwards.
I'm much happier with these picks, especially Suzie's. Unrelated but, I still wish we got a Tamers second season starring older Suzie and Lopmon...

RWBYmon: Team CFVY
I love these guys so much.
Coco:
Coco has a shiny Metagross.
Like let’s just get that out of the way first thing, Coco has a Metagross and it is very high-level and it is a very ridiculous thing to belong to a second-year student but Coco Adel does not settle for less than what she wants.
People assume Coco like....bought it, essentially. That she dropped a ridiculous amount of money to get a Pokemon breeder to trade her their ridiculously rare specialized tournament-ready shiny Metang and then they won a few fights and it evolved and that’s what she means when she says she “evolved it herself.” They think she wildly misunderstands what “starter” means because clearly she just...got the Pokemon she wanted right off the bat and uses that term to mean “the first one I got”.
No. The Metagross is her starter. She did go out of her way to find the exact Pokemon she wanted from the get-go; but she did it herself. That the Beldum she caught for herself as a kid was a shiny was just destiny wild luck and a good omen. She has a powerful Metagross now because she put in the work.
Her other two are a caramel swirl Alcremie and a disarmingly high-level Furret.
She wears the Furret around her neck like a feather boa.
Ha! Looks like you’re all out of pokemon, Coco! I wi--OH GODS. OH GODS MY EYES. OH GODS GET IT OFF GET IT OFF--
Velvet:
[evil laughter]
God, a Pokemon battle against Velvet would be just. God this bitch. Fuck this. I hate this so much. I want to get off this ride. I’m going to go home and rethink my life.
Velvet’s partner pokemon is a Ditto named Anesidora, which is adorable, and which does tend to make people underestimate her because while under the right circumstances a Ditto can put up a fight it’s, you know, kinda pathetic next to Coco’s pseudo-legendary.
Velvet’s Ditto is like, Level Fuck You with a moveset of Eat My Ass.
She also has a Smeargle with Sketch.
Fighting Velvet is literally. She can just do fucking anything at any time but you weren’t prepared for that, because you were waiting for her to toss out a level 20 Buneary, weren’t you.
Her third is just a Machamp.
It’s just a Machamp. There’s no clever mimickry or tricky move combinations it’s literally just a Machamp and it’s going to ignore your Pokemon and punch you in the face because it hates you.
Yatsuhashi:
Yatsu has a Gallade that became his starter almost accidentally, he raised a Ralts he found in the backyard and now it’s his buddy.
I mean...Psychic/Fighting is just, that’s Yatsuhashi right there.
His second is a Pangoro, it just is.
“Pangoro does not tolerate those who pick on the weak.” It’s him!!! It’s our dude!!!
I’ll be honest I nearly gave him a Hariyama because it works very well for Yatsu but I just. I can’t. I can’t.
I’m sorry but that is just.
That’s just a MAN
Hariyama is just a MAN it’s WEIRD to put a MAN in a POKEBALL
And the third is....debatable, frankly, but I’m feeling Bronzong? Steel/Psychic works for Yatsu, as does the #aesthetic.
Speaking of the #aesthetic....fuck it. Let’s make the Bronzong a shiny.
Fox:
Oh man, Fox is hard.
I mean he has a Sandslash, obviously. It has “sand” in the name and he’s from Vacuo.
The Sandslash is actually probably his starter, he’s probably had it forever.
I’m feeling a shiny Mienshao hard. It fits his aesthetic and fighting style perfectly.
You can tell at this point why CFVY has their flashy, superstar reputation despite the fact that in canon everyone but Coco has heavily muted, earth-tone, understated aesthetics. These aren’t rare or super-flashy Pokemon, but LOOK at all them shinies.
He has a Swoobat as his #3.
His allusion is a flying fox, he has a telepathic Semblance, I am giving him the Psychic-type bat pokemon, do not @ me.

May I ask about the Pokemon team for Mama or Minerva?
hell yeah you can!
Mama: Smeargle, Heracross, Trevenant, Ursaring, Swellow, Swampert
Minerva: Medicham, Doublade, Mienshao, Victini, Kommo-o, Urshifu (Rapid Strike Style)
For Mama, Smeargle may not be a sculptor but it is an artist, and the rest of the team... just felt right? Normally I would have a pretty detailed explanation, but these all just felt appropriate for a badass, forest-protecting older woman. (oh, and Ursaring is definitely a “mama bear” pun)
For Minerva, I gave her mostly Fighting-types, plus a Doublade to match Duck’s Honedge (Beacon), and a Victini because it’s a Psychic-type that brings victory in battle, much like Minerva can share her fighting talents with the Chosen psychically!
(ask me about my pokemon team headcanons for taz characters!)

@askiceboundlopunny
Linda@Zephyr: “For someone to be so relaxed in an open area like this you sure must be pretty confident in your combat abilities.” Linda states as she approaches the cyborg with a friendly grin. “And I wouldn’t doubt it either with how you handle that sword of yours. Whoever made it certainly knows how to make a weapon.” She added folding her arms across her chest. “And as if a machamp wasn’t threatening enough already.” The dragoness chuckled out. “So, how long did it take you to learn to wield it exactly? Did you have someone teach you?”
[PoV: Zephyr]
Another ping on my motion sensor, another Pokemon. At this point I’m starting to think that there really is a party here, and I happen to have stumbled upon it at the wrong - or maybe right - time.
I turn to look at the voice and recognize the species to be a Mienshao, albeit one of a surprising shade of purple as well as being tall enough for me to look at eye-level, albeit her being slightly taller than me.
Her comment on my confidence couldn’t have struck more home, I’m practically radiating the stuff. For good reason too, someone of my capabilities can take on anything - or at least that’s what I’ve been told. The doc hasn’t been wrong so far on a lot of things, he did design this body after all~
As the Mienshao shifts her focus onto my weapon, one particular sentence she says makes my growing grin freeze before disappearing completely.
‘And as if a Machamp wasn’t threatening enough already’.
Are... Are you freaking kidding me?!
My grip on my weapon intensifies as my lips twist into a snarl. “I…am not…a Machamp!” I hiss, stomping towards the Mienshao with an intense glare behind my visor. “Tell me, do you see thick bulging muscles on my arms?!” I shout at her, pointing at said synthetic muscles with my free limbs. I then direct my hands to my forehead. “Do you see a bony spiky crown on my skull?!” My arms then point at my waist. “See a belt?! I don’t think so!”
My anger growing, I stomp my foot into the ground, the surrounding earth round the sole of my foot caving in effortlessly. “Honestly, you people are so… so...stupid! Just because I have four arms it doesn’t mean I’m a Machamp!” My growling intensifies. “Not to mention there are other four-armed Pokemon out there, like Cofagrigus and Barbar-” My voice dies as realization strikes me.
Out of all the Pokemon, I really do look like a Machamp. I don’t even look like my own species anymore. Of course they’re gonna keep mistaking me for one of those four-armed brutes.
At this point my anger has died down to a mild irritation. With an annoyed sigh I rub the side of my face. “…To correct you on that, I’m a Bisharp. Yeah yeah I don’t look like it, but all of my blades have been removed in favor of this body.” With a hand I trace the skin on my cheek. “The white coloration you see comes from albinism, otherwise I’d have the yellow face that you’d associate with my kind.” I gesture to the rest of my frame. “The rest of the white coloration goes with the theme.”
I shake my head slightly and focus on the rest of what the Mienshao said, and more specifically her question.
I glance at my blade, contemplating on answering. Sure there’s some info that I can’t share, but learning to use a weapon? It’s not like I’m sharing vital information.
“It took me a few months to get the hang of it.” I say nonchalantly, my anger all but gone now. The hand that’s holding said weapon starts rotating in its socket, causing the sword to spin. “I would’ve mastered it in only one, but there were multiple fighting styles that I needed to integrate.”
To show an example, I stop spinning the sword and grab its handle with another hand. With a singular motion I pull it apart, now holding two halves. “Even though it doesn’t seem like it, there’s sensors built into this thing to help me use them.” I stop spinning the weapons and bring my other two arms, splitting the two weapons into a total of four swords - one in each hand. “So in a way they’re like extensions of my own self, not unlike the claws on your finger or the fangs in your mouth.” My grin widens slightly. “Because of this, I can use them far more efficiently than any other individual with similar weapons~”
I cross the four swords, causing their blades to clash against each other. Their white edges causing loud sparks to shower the area as their high-frequency vibrating blades strike one another. This only kept up for a few seconds though, since I uncross the weapons and combine the four swords back into the large double-sided blade that the Mienshao initially saw me with.
“As for how I was taught how to use it to begin with?” I continue. I dig the blade into the earth and leaning my back against it, crossing my lower arms under my chest. “Can’t tell you who, but it’s a mixture of a fairly skilled fighter as well as a…computer.” One of my upper hands taps my temple, indicating what’s inside. “I have a brain in here, but also a lil’ computer too~ Think of someone uploading techniques into your head, giving you the knowledge of how to do things.” My smile slowly morphs into a more thoughtful expression. “It’s…kinda weird, to be honest. To know how to do something yet you haven’t done it once in your life. Most of my training consisted of giving myself muscle memory, to take that knowledge of knowing how to do something and making myself ACTUALLY be able to do it.” My smile returns. “But I have to say? It is MUCH faster. Like, if I didn’t have that kind of assistance? It probably would’ve taken me years to figure everything out, but now I can kill people faster than you can say ‘yowza’~”
With her question answered, I look at the Mienshao slyly.” How’s that do for you, Purple~?” My eyes focus on her form, various infor popping into the HUD of my visor as I examine her. “Also, can’t help but notice all of that muscle you got under that fur. Getting a warriors feeling from you.” I lean forward slightly. “Almost makes me want to see just how strong you are…” My eyes narrow, the white optics giving a faint glow. “Almost…”
I hold my gaze on her for a few moments before laughing loudly, and I mean a really long laughing fit. When I start getting a hold of myself, I speak again. “Just kidding, I’d probably get in trouble if I get into an unnecessary fight. I’m only here for sight-seeing.” I rub my chin with one of my upper hands. “But you can’t blame a girl for having wishful thoughts though~”

Pokemon Next-Gen (Movie Kids): Alistair Ketchum
Tumblr media
Alistair is the older son of Riley and Queen Ilene, despite being older he actually wants to become an Aura Guardian like his father so his younger sister became heir to the throne. Alistair and his younger sister were recruited to be part of PokeStar Studios and the two agreed so long as they could still do their training. Alistair co-stars with Corvin in the show where he plays the villain, Alistair plays the hero while Sapphire plays the role of the heroine, Alistair’s role is that he has to protect Sapphire from Corvin’s villain role all while both of them have to keep their true identities a secret from everyone else. He also has his own show, playing the role of an Aura User that’s traveling to become a full-fledged Aura Guardian. Alistair is noble, polite and very formal to those around him due to his upbringing in the royal family, he’s also courageous and is very chivalrous which causes a lot of females in PokeStar Studios to gain a crush on him. Despite how formal he acts, he can be pretty casual to close friends and his family, he also takes his training seriously and he always does his best when he’s acting. Much like his father and his cousin Ash, he can control Aura but he’s still training to master it. Aside from being able to use Aura, Alistair also knows a variety of different fighting styles that he’ll use on set and when he’s training with his Pokemon, Alistair is also very athletic and it’s because of how athletic he is that he’s able to perform his own stunts instead of having someone do his stunts for him. He has a Key Stone fitted into a ring that’s on his right ring finger.
His main colors are blue and black. From blue, Alistair is loyal, trustworthy and responsible. He’s also very calm in every situation, as well as caring and he expresses concern to his friends and family. He’s also known to be helpful and he’s known as a rescuer, for example, he’ll always go out of his way to help someone if they need help or if he sees someone in danger. It also represents his devotion to his family, friends and his role as an Aura Guardian to be. Blue also represents how he’s knowledgeable and how he radiates authority which gives him a lot of respect from others. Black represents how he’s protective, has self-control and is disciplined. Black also gives him an air of mystery, which is what causes a lot of girls to have a crush on him as black is associated with seduction, he only seduces girls if he has to. The color black represents how he’s formal and sophisticated to everyone around him.
Like the others in his family, Alistair can understand what a Pokemon is saying. Some other abilities he has access to include manipulating his aura to fire a blue sphere, create a barrier, calming down aggressive Pokemon, detecting another person’s aura, reading someone’s mind and actions and prevent mind control.
His Pokemon:
Lucario- Lucario is Alistair’s first Pokemon. Back when Alistair was a child, he was given a Riolu to help him with training to become an Aura Guardian. Riolu soon evolved into Lucario when Alistair was ten years old, that was when Lucario started to help Alistair with his training along with Riley. As a Riolu, Lucario was more playful than serious but he still knew when was a good time to play and when it wasn’t a good time to play, he was also friendly and happy to make friends with others. When he evolved, he became more serious but he was very loyal to Alistair acting as both his mentor and his partner, if Alistair gave him an order, Lucario would follow it with no hesitation. Much like his trainer, Lucario is formal and chivalrous to those around him and he’s able to talk through telepathy which allows him to talk to other humans. He’s always seen out of his Pokeball.
Given in a Pokeball.
Ability is Inner Focus, changes to Adaptability when Mega evolved.
Held Item is Lucarionite.
Moves are Aura Sphere, Force Palm, Meteor Mash, Bone Rush, Ice Punch, Psychic, Brick Break, Calm Mind, Iron Tail, and Swords Dance.
Pikachu- Alistair has met Pikachu because of a strange encounter, Pikachu just appeared in front of him one day while Alistair was training with Lucario. Pikachu had claimed that he was told to find a trainer with a blue and black hat that was training with a Lucario because that will be his new trainer, seeing as Alistair fit the description he caved in and caught Pikachu. Pikachu is serious and wants to do his best to train with Alistair and Lucario, Pikachu also has a soft side and he’s happy to just curl up on Alistair’s lap, he also enjoys being petted and being called cute by people who pass them by. Pikachu is also very modest if he gets complimented by someone by either his strength or how cute he is, he’ll blush and rub the back of his head in embarrassment. Much like Lucario, he stays out of his Pokeball. He hitches a ride on Alistair’s shoulder.
Caught in a Friend Ball.
Ability is Static.
Moves are Thunderbolt, Electric Terrain, Surf, Volt Tackle, Swift, Electro Ball, Agility, Spark, Discharge, and Iron Tail.
Bisharp- Alistair caught Bisharp after he had defeated him in and his Pawniard minions in a battle, as soon as Bisharp saw that he was alone and his minions were beaten he bowed before Alistair and dubbed him as his trainer so Alistair caught him. Bisharp is an honorable Pokemon who knows when he’s been beaten and he knows when he can’t win a battle. He’s still a Pokemon that will try hard and will train to improve his skills in battle. Bisharp highly respects Alistair and will follow his orders no matter what, even if something may not make sense to him he’ll still follow his orders without question. Bisharp finds himself sharpening his blades with a sharpening stone that Alistair got for him after a while of being caught and while he isn’t as chivalrous as Lucario or Alistair, he is still a noble Pokemon who will act on his trainer’s orders.
Caught in a Pokeball.
Ability is Defiant.
Moves are Iron Head, Swords Dance, Throat Chop, Psycho Cut, Metal Claw, Night Slash, Metal Burst, Giga Impact, Payback, and Sucker Punch.
Weavile- Alistair was sent to stop a group of Weavile who was terrorizing some people for food, Alistair had tracked them and found their hideout, as well as their leader. He knew could tell that the leader had made it clear that he was in charge and that he would stay in charge no matter what, once he figured that out he battled the leader and caught him once he was weakened enough, once he was caught the other Weavile had no idea what to do as he never trained one of them to take his spot so the group was disbanded. Alistair then had to train Weavile so that he can follow what he says and to get him to behave himself, it didn’t completely work. Weavile does listen to what Alistair says but he’s still a mischievous Pokemon, Weavile is also a troll and will sometimes cause trouble for anyone who happens to be nearby just for the heck of it.
Caught in a Dusk Ball.
Ability is Pressure.
Moves are Ice Punch, Night Slash, Hone Claws, Metal Claw, Ice Shard, Psycho Cut, Avalanche, Agility, Fake Out, and Beat Up.
Mienshao- When Alistair first met Mienshao, she was meditating, when she sensed that Alistair approached she was ready to start battling one of his Pokemon. What she didn’t expect was that Alistair himself was going to fight her, she had no problem with it and started to fight him one on one. She didn’t expect herself to lose to a human but she gained a lot of respect for him and asked to join his team, which he agreed to. Mienshao can be picky about how she battles, she likes to look elegant as she battles against her opponent and she enjoys training alongside her trainer. Mienshao also holds her trainer in high regards because of how he managed to beat her without the help of his Pokemon, she’s always helping him with martial arts training as well as helping him with meditation.
Caught in an Ultra Ball.
Ability is Inner Focus.
Moves are Aura Sphere, Fake Out, Calm Mind, Reversal, Poison Jab, Rock Slide, Meditate, Double Team, Drain Punch, and Power-up Punch.

furuba pokémon au?
so other than being a fruits basket fan, i’m also super into pokémon. today’s swsh news got me thinking about furuba characters as pokémon trainers and well… those thoughts definitely spiraled into obsession. this is by no means a comprehensive or definitive list but these are my thoughts so far.
tohru - she would run a healing/support based fairy type team. i picture her main being whimsicott because from the back, it looks a bit like a rice ball with a plum. tohru would frantically sprint to the pokémon center after every battle, though she wouldn’t be a big fighter anyway. her bag would be stuffed full of healing items and she’d probably catch most of her team in heal balls or luxury balls. all her pokémon would have max friendship. i think her team would also be a duel type team, grass and fairy. i picture her with ‘mons like (mega) audino, deerling, bulbasaur, sylveon, leafeon, or togepi.
kyo - this type selection was probably the easiest. kyo runs a fighting type team. he and his pokémon train relentlessly - and also have a knack for finding the best berries, so the whole team is well fed. kyo runs pokémon like mienshao, primeape, blaziken, or maybe even a (shiny) bewear. his team also consists of two types, as he also trains fire types. i see him with maybe a typhlosion, darmanitan, incineroar, or houndoom. kyo takes excellent care of his pokémon but his battle style is all out and relentless. he uses offensive moves only; the boy has never heard of a stat boosting move in his life. he wins on raw power or not at all.
yuki - yuki is a water and ice master. his team having one type strong against kyo’s and one type weak to it feels fitting. yuki’s ace is probably a milotic, and he’d also run things like floatzel, samurott, primarina, or lapras on the water side and glaceon, alolan ninetales, frosslass, or aurorus for ice pokémon. yuki is an incredibly skilled battler but doesn’t really fight unless directly challenged. unlike kyo he’s all about strategy; his pokémon carry lots of status inflicting moves. yuki is almost a celebrity battler, but what his fans don’t know is that his pokémon are also emotional support animals and are trained to end battles quickly and discreetly if he ever develops an anxiety or asthma attack mid battle.
shigure - easy pick, he runs dark types. shigure is that asshole who hides behind a corner and challenges passing travelers. he’s friendly, but plays dirty in battle and you wouldn’t really want to make him your rival. he uses pokémon like liepard, mightyena, houndoom, zoroark, honchkrow, and shiftry. he appears randomly a lot, usually with a useful and quest-relevant item, but you can never be positive he’s not working for the evil team.
hatori - also a defense/healing based team. kingdra is his ace. he runs dragon types (duh) and probably a second type but i have no idea what. best guesses go to steel, psychic, or ground.
ayame - poison type trainer with an arbok, a scolipede, and a seviper, but ayame is way more into contests than battling. he makes his own contest spectacular outfits. people underestimate him because they don’t think most poison types are usually contest viable, but he makes it work.
kagura - solo runs with a grossly over leveled emboar. beware her heat crash. she’s not really a trainer, more of just an everyday person with one partner pokémon.
hana - she runs psychic types, obviously, and is psychic herself. she’s a sitting gym leader but doesn’t get a lot of challengers. she can often tell whether a challenger is worthy by their wave signature even before the battle starts. her main is an espeon, but she also runs alakazam, xatu, gardevoir, swoobat, starmie, or delphox. her team changes out a lot because psychic pokémon are sensitive and battles tire them out quickly. this is why her gym is difficult to get through - she would hate to overwork her team.
uo - steel type trainer. she used to participate in a lot of street battling rings but she has since retired and only battles safely against her friends, and even then only on occasion. she’s a more defensive battler in friendly matches but if ever forced to battle an actual enemy she is a force of nature. uo carries pokémon like aggron, mawile, scizor, metagross, excadrill, bastiodon, or bisharp. she says her mawile reminds her of hana. uo will sometimes step in with her metagross as one of the trainers in hana’s gym.
akito - i get ghost type trainer vibes. akito is relatively obsessed with the idea of legendary pokémon, namely arceus, and is convinced they are more than folklore. she would lead an evil team, formed by members of the sohma clan, in an attempt to harness the power of legends for herself. however, she would be a leader like archie/maxie or N or guzma who is reformed at the end of her arc. i think she would then devote her time to being a lorekeeper instead, changing her obsession with legends into something positive. she would probably carry mismagius, chandelure, oricorio sensu, mimikyu, gengar, banette, or froslass.
momiji - more of a jack of all trades than a type focused trainer, i think momiji would actually appreciate some “weaker” pokémon and give them a fair shot. he’d run things like plusle (his sister would have a minun), bunnelby, whismur, spinda, oricorio pom-pom, and wigglytuff.
kisa - look idk but tiny girl with giant incineroar just makes me happy as a concept. kisa doesn’t battle, by the way, it’s her emotional support incineroar.
hiro - he claims that he thinks battling is stupid and pokémon are lame. he owns a mareep and a gogoat anyway and gets really mad if you point out how much he dotes over them.
rin - i haven’t seen her animated and it’s been forever since i read the manga so this one isn’t deep and insightful, but she has a mudsdale, a zebstrika, and a rapidash. horse gang. don’t @ me.
haru - trains normal and dark types. his training style varies wildly; light haru isn’t much of a battler and prefers riding pokémon for fun, but dark haru is an aggressive battler with a style reminiscent of kyo’s. he has a bouffalant and a tauros, both of which he rides because they have a better sense of direction than he does. he also carries an absol, a pangoro, a zweilous, and a slaking. haru takes forever to get from one gym to the next, so he’s nowhere near getting all his badges yet.
kyoko - no idea about her team specifically but i think kyoko was a fighting type trainer who gave up battling but never gave up on her pokémon and kept them until her death. i like to think kyo’s mankey was a gift from her when he was a child.
this took a bit to type out, geez. that’s really all i have for now but feel free to add on or throw in your own ideas, even if they conflict with mine! i’d love to know what the rest of the fandom thinks, if any of you are big pokémon fans!

Explanations Under Cut
Okay, so--first up is Ruby. Ruby is a Pokemon Ranger, as I felt it was as close to her aspirations as a Huntress as you could get in the Pokemon universe. She is a Steel- and Dark-type trainer, with the exception of her partner Pokemon Marowak [Alolan], which is a nod to her having lost her mom at a young age, but a bit more edgy than normal. She also has a Lycanroc as a nod to her original concept being based off of the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, and Absol as a reference to her being at the center of a lot of trouble. Bisharp and Scizor are both there because they’re dangerous bladed Pokemon, while Skarmory is a reference to her taking after her Uncle Qrow, who is a Flying-type trainer.
Next is Weiss. Weiss is a Lady Pokemon trainer, as she is of a rich and upper-class status which fits that character archetype. She is an Ice- and Fairy-type trainer, with the only exception being Golurk, which is a nod to her Armos spirit summon. Her main Pokemon is Froslass, as her Semblance is similar to how Froslass freezes its enemies and keeps them as trophies. After that, she has both Ninetales [Alolan] and Glaceon because of her cool elegance and poise. Gardevoire is a reference towards her ‘magical’ skill and prowess, while Togekiss is a reference for her devotion and kindness towards her friends and true family.
Blake is next. Blake is an Ace Trainer, as she probably has the most real-world experience in combat amongst the rest of Team RWBY. She is a Dark-type, with the lone exception being her Mienshao as a reference to her martial prowess and more exotic background. Her main Pokemon is Liepard, both as a nod to her being a cat faunus, as well as a reference to her natural agility and skill. Weavile is a nod to her relentlessness in combat, while Scrafty is a nod to her slightly shady background and history for doing criminal actions. Like Ruby, she has an Absol, but for her it represents her fear that she will only bring trouble to those she loves. Finally, she has an Umbreon because she is from shadows.
Finally, we come to Yang. Yang is a Battle Girl trainer, because out of all of Team RWBY, Yang is the one person who is most DTF (down to fight). She is a Fire- and Fighting-trainer, and has access to all three of the Fire/Fighting starters. Emboar represents her ability to take a hit and then hit back just as hard if not harder, Infernape represents her agility and prowess in fighting, as well as her more general fighting style, and Blaziken represents her general badassness. Ursaring, meanwhile, is a reference to her character being based off of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, while Hitmonchan is a reference to her fighting style being more punching-based. Finally, she also has Charizard as she is the ‘Sunny Little Dragon’.
And so, that is Team RWBY as Pokemon Trainers. Let me know what y’all thought.

Note
I always thought something like Mienfoo or Meditite would be good for Tenko. Aikido is mostly about flexibility and control but fighting types match her more rigorous and strength based style
Definitely love those choices! Mienshao also has those flowing sleeves that are somewhat reminiscent of her braids ~
Also checking out Medicham’s shiny version which is a shade of blue pretty close to Tenko’s - that works out nicely! She’s gonna have a great aesthetic going on when they evolve!

Unova Elite Four
The Unova Elite Four is considered to be one of the toughest in the world, with all four Elites boasting a victory rate of above 90% and over four years experience in their respective positions. They all utilise wildly diverse battle styles, which requires the challenger to be flexible in order to triumph over all of them. This diversity, combined with the leniency of the Unovan Battle Code and the fact that each Elite pushes it to its limits, renders them a brutal and uncompromising set of opponents. Alder’s long reign as Champion is mostly attributed to the success of the Elite Four; because so few could surpass them, Alder was rarely forced to defend his title.
Shauntal
Shauntal is famous in the battle industry for her adaptability. Having trained with many different type specialists all over the world, she has learnt to perfect defensive, offensive and status-led plays, able either to sweep or to play the long game depending on her opponent’s weaknesses. Of the four Elites, she has the widest choice of pokémon to assemble her team from, bearing eleven highly-trained ghosts capable of changing strategies whenever an initial plan fails. Her unpredictability stumps challengers who prefer to plan their plays in advance (Cheren failed to beat her for this exact reason) but can sometimes leave her exposed. When she chooses the wrong strategy and has to swap, she becomes vulnerable.
Most Notable Pokémon
Cofagrigus - Mostly used in longer plays, this is one of her most iconic partners. Typically, it will obscure the field with Haze, then proceed to extend and retract its long, shadow-like arms so that the foe can only see dark shapes moving within the fog. As the opponent’s paranoia builds, the cofagrigus may inflict them with poison or burns, trip them with low-lying Dark Pulses, or wear them down with broad swathes of Ominous Wind (never Shadow Ball or other projectiles, as they would reveal the cofagrigus’s location within the fog). In recent years, Shauntal has combined the Haze Strategy with use of Double Team, so as to make it even harder for the opponent to track the cofagrigus’s position.
Although rarely used offensively due to its slowness, Shauntal’s cofagrigus has been known to seize hold of smaller opponents, trap them inside itself and use Curse, forcing them to share in the self-inflicted damage. This is extremely painful. Shauntal’s first use of this strategy provoked a heated debate as to whether it should be banned or not, but it was eventually declared to be legal.
Chandelure - It compensates for its lack of dodging ability with a masterful, hair-trigger command of Protect. Moreover, it will often use Fire Spin to shroud itself in a fire vortex, as this activates its Flash Fire ability and prevents opponents from getting too close. Because both Fire Spin and Protect are difficult to maintain over long periods, it is somewhat of a firework pokémon, powerful for a time but quick to burn out. It boasts an array of hard-hitting special moves, but is most well known for its explosive use of Inferno. If the foe can survive the first few minutes on the field with this pokémon, it becomes far easier to take down. But making it through the first onslaught is no easy feat.
Froslass - Trained to be fast above all else, Shauntal’s frosslass is known for her relentlessness. Her moves lack the power of the chandelure’s, but by summoning repeated, unceasing hail, wrestling the opponent back with Icy Wind and even mentally restraining them with Telekinesis, she wears foes out by use of fairly simple, low-effort techniques. If that fails, she drags them down with Destiny Bond. Because of her perceived viciousness, commentators have taken to calling her ‘Ice Queen’, though her real name is Dysnomia.
Marshal
Marshal is the most conventional trainer of the four. His style is not particularly different from that of most fighting-type specialists - a practical, head-on approach that prizes high damage above all else. Nevertheless, he provides an earthy balance to his deceptive colleagues and has the most classically powerful team, always using the same six in official matches. Having been in the position for seven years, he is the longest-serving member of the Unova Elite Four.
Most Notable Pokémon
Mienshao - Revered for her speed, reflexes and preference to trip up opponents by slapping them hard in the ankles, she attacks in a way typical of the species. The one atypical technique she uses is the evoking of sunlight on the battlefield. As Marshal spent much of his early life training abroad in hot countries, his pokémon are perfectly used to fighting at full capacity in searing heat. The same cannot be said for most of his opponents’ teams.
Sawk - Marshal’s sawk has been trained extensively to fight with his feet. As a sawk’s toes are almost as dexterous as its fingers, Marshal’s can wrench opponents to the floor after kicking them and hold them there while stamping down with the other foot. As Marshal’s sawk used to be wild, training him to attack using non-melee methods is difficult, so he mostly fights hand-to-hand. Some would expect this to be a limitation, but his reflexes are so formidably quick that it is anything but.
Grimsley
Grimsley’s style is notorious for its cleverness. He is widely considered to be one of the most cunning trainers in the industry, adept at targeting blind spots, misleading the opponent and completely disorientating their pokémon. Almost all of his pokémon are trained in taunting (riling the opponent to the point that it starts blindly attacking), and several of them combine the technique with Countering to create a risky strategy known as the Offensive Taunt (or, more archaically, as Foul Play).
Grimsley is also known for being unorthodox. He would rather win savagely than lose gracefully, so is not above directing his pokémon to yank tails, poke eyes or spit in faces if it grants him the slightest advantage. Purists find him distasteful. The general public can’t get enough of him.
Most Notable Pokémon
Liepard - As his ace, his liepard features in virtually all of his matches. She is his best taunter, considered by many to be the most accomplished taunter in contemporary battle, and has been thoroughly trained in both dodging and Protect usage. She defeats foes by riling them, confusing them, paralysing them, then biting and slashing at vunerable areas such as the neck and legs. Evasion is the cornerstone of her strategy, as she can only withstand limited hits, but she is an unexpected nightmare for many challengers. People go in worrying about the hydreigon, only to discover they can’t land a single hit on the liepard.
She is also excellent at false signalling, a technique that involves ‘playing dead’, waiting until the last few seconds before being delcared unfit for battle, then launching oneself at the opponent to deliver a surprise attack. Despite the fact that he is famed for this strategy, people still fall for it. His liepard is so attuned to him that she often knows when to false signal without being instructed.
Hydreigon - Grimsley is one of few hydreigon users in the battle industry and the only one that isn’t a dragon specialist. Out of concern that people will underestimate how dangerous raising the species can be, he often doesn’t use his in televised matches. Those lucky enough to have seen her fight note how Grimsley capitalises on intimidation tactics while commanding her. He encourages her to vocalise at the beginning of matches, letting out harsh, eerie roars that set the foe on edge before the battle has even begun. Once it commences, however, the strategy simplifies: hit, and hit hard.
Absol - As absols train very much like psychic types, Grimsley’s provides a mellow contrast to the rest of his team. While not the fastest, the absol has a developed precognitive sense that allows him to sense impending attacks before they occur, and to launch his own into the foe’s path. Maintaining the focus required for precognition is no easy feat in the heat of battle, especially not while attacking, so he is careful only to strike when confident that the blow will do severe damage. Watching him battle is a surreal experience - his movements look dreamlike and out of sync, and he sometimes does things that make no sense until a few minutes later in the match. Even Grimsley is often unclear on his absol’s intentions, but he trusts him to take the best course of action, never disrupting his focus by shouting out commands.
Caitlin
Caitlin is the most recent addition to the Unova Elite Four, but her sweetly cruel style fits perfectly with the rest of the League. Owing to her contest experience and her years in the Battle Castle (a facility where elegance is esteemed), Caitlin’s pokémon are more than just fighters - they are performers. Her main strategy is to entice the foe with beautiful displays, holding back on doing proper damage so that they are lured, despite themselves, into a false sense of security. She recognises that foes fight best when they feel at risk, so makes it her strategy to appear non-offensive, to almost ‘seduce’ them into thinking she means no harm. Then, once they are at their most captivated and confused, she strikes.
Most Notable Pokémon
Gothitelle - Caitlin’s gothitelle is excellent at seduction. Her most famous technique is the Stockholm strategy; she repeatedly hurts her opponents via Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball and Psychic only to revitalise them with Heal Pulse a moment later. The sheer dissonance of the technique wears the foe down; because it is so unlike what they usually experience on the battlefield, it disorientates them, makes them confused and unsure of how to react. This leaves them vulnerable.
Sigilyph - Her sigilyph is less scheming, but every bit as cruel. She combines the use of heavy Gravity with Toxic, forcing the foe to the ground while waiting for the poison to eat away at them. She is also excellent at long-range use of Mirror Coat, favouring the technique of summoning a barrier directly in front of the foe so that their released move blows up in their face.

Notoriously the least favorite new dex in the entire series, largely due to genwunner mentality.  It drives me crazy how many people are mad about some Pokemon this generation.  You're mad about the wrong ones!  Yes, there are things that are Not Great in this dex, but leave the usual disliked Pokemon alone!  Plus, I will appreciate any generation that forces me to use the new stuff for at least the main game.  I so desperately wish they kept that in later generations, but nope.
TOP 15: 15) Sigilyph - It's like Xatu for me.  It's a unique design choice, with a really cool battle role.   Magic Guard allows it to burn itself, and Psycho Shift can pass that to the opponent.  Cosmic Power buffs defenses, and then you just stall out until you can unleash Stored Power.  Critical hits are the biggest problem for this thing, aside from routine power creep and Dark types shutting down its one attack.  The Burn nerf also did not help, doubling the amount of turns it has to stall with this strategy.  But the niche it does hold is still great, and while Smogon can tell me this set sucks until they're blue in the face, I personally will always remember it for this hysterical combo.
14) Swoobat - I love Swoobat.  It's such a cute little bat creature, with its signature attack that does it literally no favors at all.  Simple + Calm Mind is also particularly fun, or it would be if it had the stats to take a hit long enough to set that up.  Mostly though, it's just a charming and cute bat.
13) Vanilluxe line - Vanilluxe is a good Pokemon, you all are just mean.   It's an adorable ice cream cone Pokemon, with the ice cream part being accumulated snow.  It's a precious concept, and the only real bad part about it is its movepool. I love Vanilluxe and its evolutions, and you should too.
12) Gigalith line - I love the whole line.  Boldore gets special mention, due to the presence of Rochelle in my Pokemon White Nuzlock.  Gigalith itself stands out as an intimidating mass of rock, with a beautiful shiny form and surprisingly well-oriented stats for a wall.  Getting Sandstorm as an ability also helped it out a lot, giving a much-needed buff to special defense.  It's got a lot going for it.
11) Haxorus line - Dragon type evolution lines, up to this point, tend to emphasize raw attack power over all else.  You had some exceptions, in that Flygon was more balanced and Altaria was more defensive, but for the most part Dragons have physical offense.  Haxorus takes this to its logical conclusion, being unreasonably strong, and having an intimidating design to match.  Despite this, it doesn't quite go the route of Garchomp or Salamence, where it looks entirely scary.  It looks intimidating, but it also looks friendlier, somehow.  I know its face is an axe, but it doesn't have quite the same air of menace.
10) Mienshao - It's rare a Fighting type makes my list of favorites, but Mienshao earns this spot based on elegant design among a typing that's usually hulking brutes.  I also really loved Regenerator + Life Orb as a combo, it just seemed so obvious.
9) Reshiram - Much like Dialga, this was an easy pick for me.  Unfortunately, when I asked for the game, I got the one with Zekrom.  Not that I was that mad, Zekrom is cool enough, but Reshiram is my favorite of the two.   Fire/Dragon is a great one, and the fact that it's the embodiment of truth is a fantastic concept. The story role for Zekrom and Reshiram is also fantastic, being set with the first real ideological rival you had, N.  Combined with an elegant and beautiful design, Reshiram definitely stands out for me among the box legends in the series.
8) Chandelure - I'm not a big fan of Litwick, or even of Lampent, but Chandelure is a quality final stage Pokemon.  It's such an elaborate and wonderful look, being sufficiently spooky yet elegant in its own right.  Ghost/Fire is also an incredible typing, allowing for very few things to resist its powerful special attacks.  It's a great Pokemon, and one of the many excellent ghost types from this gen.
7) Gothitelle - Obviously, I'm a big fan of psychic types, and Gothitelle is definitely up there on the list for me.  I like the gothic look, and its role as something that can see lifespans is both interesting and tragic for it.  It's also the signature Pokemon of Caitlin, which...man, I loved Caitlin's role in battle tower as it was, and seeing her as an elite four member, with this Pokemon as her best, was divine.
6) Leavanny line - Among the many Pokemon I wish had better competitive utility, Leavanny is definitely up there.  It's such a nice Pokemon with a great design through its whole evolutionary chain, only to end up with a terrible typing and few benefits beyond that.  What it does offer is being adorable, and apparently fashioning clothes for other Pokemon out of silk.  I love this creature so much.
5) Frillish - Listen, if you don't like Frillish, something's not right.   It's such a cute Pokemon, in both male and female forms.  It's one of the few Pokemon that has a distinction along gender that I appreciate.   Water/Ghost is also a fantastic typing, and it gets a lot of good tools to make use of it, including Will-o-Wisp and Recover.  Such a fun and pretty Pokemon...  Jellicent is also great, but aesthetics don't appeal nearly as much.
4) Musharna line - Musharna and Munna are adorable little Pokemon, and I love their connection to the whole Dream World mechanic that was introduced this generation.  They have a great role in the story, producing the mist that allows a professor to examine dreams, but they're also just precious little creature in their own right.  Not particularly strong in battle, and unfortunately don't work to much on that whole manipulation of dreams concept, but definitely a fun concept to work with.
3) Meloetta - Who would've thought a mythic legend would ever come along that outranked Celebi?  Being a Pokemon based in song, it gets the fantastic Psychic/Normal typing, allowing it to get complete immunity to Ghost types.  It's a precious tiny singer...who can morph into a powerful step dancer that brutalizes its common weaknesses as a Fighting/Normal type.  Nothing in this world is greater than the feeling of someone switching into Meloetta with Tyranitar expecting to tank, only for it to then transform to its Pirouette form and style all over it.  It's such a unique Pokemon to use in battle, and one of the best concepts as a singer/dancer.
2) Cinccino - Another really snazzy Pokemon.  Cinccino's many tail-scarves makes it look divine, and having multi-hit moves certainly sets it apart from most. I'm also a huge fan of King's Rock + Skill Link moves.  It's a vile, evil combo. 41% flinch on all your moves is incredible, and it allowed my weaker teams to sometimes do stupid things, like that time Cinccino beat a Heatran through sheer power of flinch.  It's a great and unique normal type, with a great design.
1) Lilligant - The best grass type.  Lilligant is a beautiful, wonderful Pokemon. It's a dancer, and so it learns a lot of dance-based moves, with an ability that shuts down confusion to allow for Petal Dance to be even more devastating.  The design is what sells it the most, being a regal-looking plant that has to hop around because she has no feet.   It's beautiful and lovely and wonderful, and has access to the best boosting move in the game.
BOTTOM 10: 10) Samurott - Dewott was so cool.  Dewott was the coolest, my actual favorite of the starters, until Samurott.  "Steve, you know it stands on its hind legs too, watch the anime loser."  Listen.  I know it can.   But its sprite and its general stance are not upright.  It is a quadruped with the ability to stand upright, and that's very different from being bipedal, and we all know it.  I wanted something better than this.  It's like the inverse of the usual fire-type complaint of people wanting it to remain a quadruped; I wanted it to stand upright and be more samurai-like.  It didn't do that, and it also didn't do anything to create any sort of battle role for itself.  Disappointing.
9) Seismitoad - I love Tympole.  I mean I adore it.  I was so ready for a nice evolution line like Politoed, or at least an acceptable one like Poliwrath.  But no. We get this thing.  Water/Ground, with fairly average stats, does not cut it anymore.  The design is what really bothers me.  From my adorable tadpole creature that's all musical, to this big wart-covered toad creature that...I guess hits the warts to make sound?  It's not as good.  Nowhere near.  Unacceptable final evolution stage.
8) Pignite - Yes, specifically.  Emboar at least looks rad, and Tepig is still cute.   Pignite is the awkward middle child, much like Quilladin.  But unlike Quilladin, Pignite's biggest shame is being the third generation in a row of Fire/Fighting type.  If it hadn't gained that typing, I might be easier on it, but it was the showing that this generation's starters were going to be nowhere near as interesting any anything before, or after it.
7) Unfezant - I really do not like the design of this thing at all, and adding to it that it's about as stock and standard an early-game bird as you can get, and there's really nothing interesting about it.  I would definitely way it's the least interesting regional bird.
6) Beheeyem line - I honestly forget about this Pokemon.  I honest to god forget it, every single time.  Just an alien thing.  No explanation, it's just...an alien thing. What are you?  Why are you here?  What is even going on anymore, and why do you have so little defined battle role that I can forget that there's a literal alien just walking around?
5) Scrafty - I don't like its aesthetic.  I don't like the punk aesthetic at all.  It does nothing for me.  I'm also supremely pissed about Fighting/Dark type.  Before Fairies showed up, this was devastating for a Psychic-lover like me.  When Drapion covered Poison types, that was fine.  Poison wasn't that good, and it could use the help.  But Fighting types?  Fighting types are my food, and this bastard prevents that.   Add to it that Dark became incredibly common as a coverage type on Fighting types, and it's just a whole mess for my favorite type. I'm glad Fairy type blasted your ass back down the totem pole.
4) Simisage/Simisear - Believe it or not, Simipour, I think, is just cute enough to avoid my ire.  These two, however, are not.  I've stated it before, but I don't like monkeys.  I also don't like that these Pokemon have virtually no battle use. Their stats are bad and their movepools are bad.  I also don't remember how to get them beyond the free one you get before the first gym, where they exist to counter the first gym's type choice and do nothing else. I could keep going, but that seems like overkill.
3) Sawk/Throh - I decided to combine the two, because I can't decide which I like less.  In a similar vein to the next entry, their designs are what bother me. Kung Fu Burt and Ernie.  Okay, sure.  Why are these things even here?  Did we really need more Fighting types?  I know it's a whole "mirror to gen 1" thing with the fresh start, but maybe it would've been better to not try to make knock-off Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee.
2) Conkeldurr line - Not quite the bottom of the barrel, but close enough that it makes little difference.  Conkeldurr is exactly what I dislike about the Fighting type.  Its design is not good.  Its stats are perfectly calibrated to hit hard and take physical hits.  It gets recovery from Drain Punch, Dark-type moves to wreck every Psychic that tries to stop it, priority in Mach Punch, fantastic coverage options, and I just...I hate that it's good.  I hate it.  Because it looks so bad, and the things that make it good, in my mind, make it too good.  It shouldn't be able to answer every single Psychic type in the game.  It should be able to answer status play that tries to wear it down.  But it does all of this flawlessly and I hate it.  You basically have to be a Fairy type or a really strong Flying type, and I just want this thing dead already!
1) Landorus-Therian - If you have to ask, you haven't been here long.  Lando-T is the bane of my damned existence.  I don't like its look.  I don't like that its ability meshes perfectly with its battle role.  I don't like that, competitively, Smogon has it on 50%+ of teams depending on the season, and yet it's still obviously out of the question that it could ever be too good and need to be banned.  I hate this thing beyond all other Pokemon.  It would've just been a form I'd never use under normal circumstances, but instead, because of fan reception and competitive play, it's probably my most disliked Pokemon, and one of maybe five I actively hate.

Young God - Ch 1
Cross Posted from my AO3
Guzma/Reader, 18+ (this chapter is SFW)
Summary: yet another guzma/reader story where you make him your new roommate and learn about his edgy past while becoming closer. spoilers for ultra sumo i guess since it's after the rainbow rocket arc and that's mentioned a few times.
Notes: Listen I know there are like a million and one Guzma/Reader things out there and 90% of them are angst Guzma-your-new-roomie style but that doesn't mean there can't be one million and two and I completely intend to saturate this market. The team here is just gonna be a rehash of my ultra sumo team, because I mean why write another when we all know these are basically self insert proxies lol...This is my first real time writing Guzma in a serious sense so hopefully it translated well lmfao. This was sort of a last minute thing I did since I read through all the ones on here and just played through Ultra SUMO, so if ya'll like it lmk and I'll keep at it while I'm inspired. The title was literally chosen by putting my Guzma playlist on shuffle and Young God by Halsey was the one that came up, so.
Sudden adverse weather in Alola wasn't common, but it wasn't unknown either. Ever since the wormholes had started cropping up, it wasn't unheard of for normally stable areas to suddenly experience weather extremes that would dissipate not long after and seem like they hadn't ever even occurred. It didn't matter where or when, and Alolan natives had quickly become incredibly capable of dealing with whatever came up.
So when a misplaced blizzard struck Melemele island, the residents acclimated to the weather surprisingly quickly. Truly, Alola was a region of adaptable people and pokemon, and you'd learned that very well since your moving from Kanto. Occasionally you missed your hometown of Lavender town, but your mom wasn't keen on the direction the municipal had taken. The demolition of the pokemon tower for... some radio tower? It was insulting. Alola was a region that would have never allowed for that, and since your mom already had family connections here (your dad's side was Kantonian), it just seemed appropriate to move away from a region that was forsaking tradition. Especially since you'd already been champion in Kanto and Johto, and now had recently been crowned champion of Alola; the opportunities seemed endless.
You sat in your living room watching the snow fall heavily on the tropical island, knowing that when conditions were a little safer, you'd be out searching for the wormhole and UB causing the disturbance to begin with. You were pulled from your thoughts when the phone rang, and you walked into the kitchen to take it off the hook and watch the screen, where your mom's face came on.
“Oh, I'm so glad you're home (y/n), I was worried you'd be out there in that mess!” She smiled, relieved, though she knew you were more than capable of taking care of yourself.
“Nah, I'm gonna wait until it gets a little easier to navigate before I head out.” You looked out the window to watch the white out conditions blow against the glass panes.
“That's good, you be safe. I just wanted to let you know that because of the weather, I'm going to be a bit late coming home- it probably won't be for another week or so. Will you be alright by yourself?” your mom smiled but you could see the concern in her eyes. Just below the view of the webcam, you could see her meowth's ears wiggle, listening to your voice.
"I'll be okay, I think the champion of Alola can handle a little snow... I've got my pokemon with me.” you held up a pokeball and smiled at your mom, her concern appreciated. She laughed.
“I thought so, I just wanted to make sure. There should be plenty of food there, but if you need anything, I'll be transferring some money into your account. Better safe than sorry!” You had told your mom more than a few times that she didn't need to help you out financially, being champion was an exceedingly well paying job, but she insisted on helping you anyway. You felt lucky to have such a compassionate parent.
“Thanks mom... don't worry about me, I'll be fine.”
“I'm glad to hear it! Well, your aunt and I are going to have some tea and go to bed. It's 10 PM here, but only 3 PM for you! Time zones sure are funny. If you need anything, you call me alright?”
“You got it mom, good night.”
“Goodnight honey.” And with that the screen clicked back to the screensaver of a voltorb floating across the screen and bouncing off the edges. You decided now would be as good a time as any to feed your hungry pokemon. Releasing them, your kitchen suddenly seemed a bit more cramped. Sylveon shook and trilled, affectionately rubbing against your leg. You patted her head affectionately. Some of them didn't take up too much space- raichu, sylveon and mienshao. But primarina, arcanine and malamar made it feel a bit cramped. Opening the cupboards you pulled out the food and started to divvy it up, only to find by the end you were scraping to distribute it evenly. And here you thought you were a bit more well stocked.
You knew your paycheck wouldn't clear until tomorrow, but luckily the amount your mom had transferred you had cleared; you'd never underestimate a mother's intuition to know when somethings needed. “Alright you guys, if we want to eat tomorrow I'm going to need to head to the store. Do you think you can all behave while I'm gone?” Your pokemon happily agreed. You were glad you'd trained such a reliable team.
Since she had finished eating first, you recalled sylveon to her pokeball to bring with you on the way to the store, in case of emergency. You never could be too careful.
It never ceased to amaze you how well charizard was able to navigate through the winds and weather like this, but you were thankful for it as you landed outside the Hau'oli city shopping district. You hurried inside, rubbing your hands together for warmth. Next time you'd be sure to dress warmer, you'd gotten too used to dressing for tropical weather.
People hurried about, purchasing last minute items quickly so they could get home before it got too bad, and you navigated the busy shops expertly until you'd gotten enough groceries for yourself and your pokemon to last at least another week or two. You thanked the cashier and stepped outside, ready to page charizard before deciding you would stop at the pokemon center before heading back to get a few last minute items only available there. It had lightened up a little but no considerable amount, so you were still in a hurry to get home. As you approached the telltale red and white building, you heard people arguing inside. No doubt some young trainers picking a fight with one another. You rolled your eyes and walked through the automatic doors of the pokemon hospital.
You were surprised when you were greeted with an empty center, all but the nurse and one other stood in the lobby. Even the shop keepers had left. You were about the turn to leave when you looked closer and realized you recognized the young man arguing with the nurse. You set your bags down on one of the public couches and decided to see if you could intervene here. After all, you did have some respect as the champion.
“I'm sorry, but as it stands we have limited resources with the pokemon we can keep here, we're just too full... and besides, the pokemon here are already injured. Inviting a violent, historically antagonistic pokemon here would only stress them out further. Please understand.” You frowned, unaccustomed to hearing a nurse find an excuse not to allow a pokemon into her care. While storms and the like did seem to book up the centers a lot quicker, normally she'd at least try to accommodate an injured pokemon somehow. You approached the two from behind, the nurse recognizing you but deciding to deal with one problem at a time. Though, you were more than a little certain if her first problem wasn't the former boss of a feared gang, maybe she might be a bit more lenient. Your former enemy took his hands from his pockets, still in his signature slouch.
“You ain't gotta stereotype him like that, just cuz' he's big and strong don't mean he's gonna hurt nobody. 'Sides, ain't it your job as a nurse to help all pokemon? You know bug pokemon don't do well in the cold- s'pecially blizzards n' all.” Even though he had a history of being violent or aggressive, you'd known well enough that didn't mean Guzma didn't care for his pokemon. No doubt his golisopod was having a hard time acclimating to this type of weather. “I ain't got nowhere to go in this weather, 'least he could have somewhere better to stay.” You cocked your head involuntarily at that. No where to stay? What about Po town?
“I'm sorry, we're just too full. You might try the center up a ways on route 2, I can't guarantee they're any better off, but it's worth a shot. I really need to get back to work now, good luck.” She seemed so quick to dismiss him, you guessed people still had ideas about former members of team skull, and certainly the guy who created the gang in the first place. Guzma shoved his hands back into his pockets.
“Tch. Figures.” He turned and seemed quite unexpected to see you, given he took a step back suddenly in surprise. “You..!!” Was he really about to fight right now? You only had one pokemon on you, even at his weakest you didn't know if you could beat him. You reached for your pokeball instinctively anyway; he seemed to notice. “Hey now, I ain't plannin' on fightin' you. Don't got time for that.” He shrugged with his hands still in his pockets and pushed past you. You felt a little guilty for assuming he'd immediately resort to violence, but it wasn't exactly uncharacteristic. Still, you didn't feel right not inquiring. The nurse seemed ready to ask if you needed assistance, but you waved at her and excused yourself, chasing after Guzma.
“Hey! Wait!” You called after him, noticing the bright red 'x' on the back if his black jacket. Guess he really was done with team skull. He stopped and only turned enough to see you over his shoulder.
“What? Now you wanna pick a fight? I told you I don't got time for that.” He was about to leave through the automatic doors when you reached out and grabbed the short sleeve of his jacket.
“You said you don't have anywhere to go...?” You couldn't help but look at him with concern. You'd been through a lot, with the ultra wormholes, team rainbow rocket... you knew he wasn't a bad guy, at least not anymore. After all, he'd helped you out more than a few times. You'd even go far enough to call him a friend before you called him an enemy, even if you hadn't seen him in a long time. He stopped, didn't pull away from you, but turned to face away.
“S'right. What's it to you?”
Were you really about to do this? Was this really a good idea? You asked yourself these things but before you could answer your own inner monologue you spoke.
“You could... stay at my place. It's not great out, and your pokemon- golisopod, could use the rest. I just bought a lot of pokemon food, and my mom's out of town for a while. It's not much but at least til this weather dies down.” The sleeve of his jacket was still in your grasp and you adjusted your fingers around it nervously. He was silent for a moment, considering your offer.
“Why? You ain't gotta debt to me. Go home girly.” He tried to pull away but your hand slipped down to grab his arm.
“Come on... don't be that way. I don't need to have a debt to help you... but if I did, think if it as thanks for helping with that rainbow rocket nonsense a while back. I'll make us some tapu cocoa.” You flashed a smile at him, though he couldn't see it turned away from you. He reached up and scratched the back of his black undercut with his arm that wasn't in your grasp and sighed heavily.
“You sure?” You let go of his arm and smiled.
“I insist.” He shrugged and turned to grin at you.
“Guess it would be rude 'a me to turn down your generosity, champ.” You turned to grab your bags from the couch, in the corner of your eye you saw the nurse give a brief look of disapproval before turning away when she saw you'd noticed. You hoisted up your groceries.
“Alright, let's hit the road.” You marched outside to be greeted with an even stronger gust of wind and snow than had been blowing before you left. You frowned, this was troublesome. You asked Guzma to hold your bags and he hurriedly complied. You tried to page charizard, but the signal wasn't going through. “What a mess, guess we'll have to walk it. You got an issue with that?” You looked back at him still holding your things.
“Me? I been through worse. I can handle this, s'no problem.” He seemed confident enough. You laughed at his words.
“Snow problem indeed.” You said to yourself, he didn't hear you. You reached out to take your bags back but he didn't return them to you.
“I got this, no big. Lead the way.” You smiled, thankful you didn't have to carry them. The walk back to route one was a little longer than you remembered, but you were able to manage. You hurriedly unlocked the door and motioned for him to go in first, since his hands were full.
“You can set those anywhere.” You followed soon after and turned and locked the door behind you. You didn't think you had anything to worry about, but better safe than sorry. A year ago you'd have locked your door to keep team skull out, and instead you were inviting the (former) leader in. You couldn't help but snicker at the irony.
“What's got you laughin?” You were removed from your thoughts when you remembered you weren't alone. You walked into the kitchen to go through the bags that Guzma had set on the counter for you. Your pokemon had dispersed into the house, but they were coming to greet you now that you were home.
“It's nothing, don't worry about it. While I put these away, why don't you say hello to everyone?” You rummaged through the bags while Guzma gave you a confused look.
“Everyone?” He questioned you, before turning to meet a wary arcanine, growling at him. He stumbled back. “W-whoa, hey now-” The large dog pokemon lived up to his reputation, and sniffed at the new guest, no doubt recognizing him from battles. Your other pokemon followed suit, giving you questioning glances and him aggressive warnings.
“Hey guys, don't worry about him. Be polite when we have guests over.” Your pokemon backed down at your order. Mienshao and malamar were more loners, and chose to sleep in your mothers room in her absence, returning back there after making sure the tall man in your kitchen wasn't a threat. Primarina and arcanine relaxed in your living room floor, while raichu hovered around you before deciding to snooze on top of the refrigerator. “Oh, I almost forgot.” You released sylveon from her pokeball, and she shook herself. More than any of your other pokemon, you could count on her to greet any trusted guests with friendliness. She approached the team skull leader before snaking her ribbon like appendages around his arm, which seemed to make him uncomfortable.
“Whats she doin that for?” He questioned you. You finished putting away the last of your groceries and pulled two mugs down to start on your promised tapu cocoa.
“Its just how she says hello! Here-” you reached into a jar on the counter and tossed him a pokebean. “try giving her one of these.” He looked at it in his hands for a moment before offering it to her in an open palm. The pink fox-like pokemon happily ate it then nuzzled his hand affectionately. He seemed to smile, genuinely.
“You singlehandedly handed my ass to me more than once, looks are real deceivin with fairy pokemon.” She seemed to take that as a compliment and trilled happily, before releasing his arm and trotting into your room to curl up on your bed. “You got a lotta cute pokemon.” You smiled.
“I love all my pokemon, but I would be lying if I said I didn't catch cute ones when I saw them.” You were happy, for one reason or another, that he appreciated your pokemon's aesthetics as much as you did. You finished making your drinks and picked up the mugs. “Hey, I got these as promised, come have a seat.” You walked into your living room and he followed you wordlessly. You sat on one end of your couch and handed him the mug, which he accepted with a brief 'thanks' before taking the spot directly opposite you on the other end. If you could pride yourself in anything, you made great tapu cocoa. You watched him stare into the cup for a while, both hands around it, as if he was trying to absorb all the warmth he could out of it. “So... what happened that you had nowhere to go?” You decided to break the silence, but immediately wished you'd picked a better topic to do so. You watched one set of his fingers thrum against the mug uncomfortably.
“It's a long story I guess.” You couldn't tell if he was avoiding the subject or prefacing it. You looked at the clock.
“It's only about 7:30... we have time. If you don't want to talk about it, I und-”
“It's not that. I just gotta image I gotta uphold I guess.” He cut you off, then finally decided to drink the cooling beverage in his hands. You watched him, and noticed for the first time how tired he really looked. “Po town, after everything that happened, I convinced the grunts they could do better than that. Kicked 'em all out, and they seem to be provin' me right.” It was true, you recognized a lot of the former team skill grunts around. A lot of them had part time jobs, were re-attempting island challenges, finally making an attempt to turn their lives around. “Plumes' is off doin her own thing. Since I had no use for it, I handed Po town over to that old guy, with the cats.” You knew he meant Nanu. “I dunno what he's doin with it now, but he said he'd take care of it.” You sipped at your cocoa while you listened to him talk. You didn't want to tell him aloud, but you were impressed with his maturity. Maybe you'd had him wrong back then.
“Why'd you give it up with nowhere to go though...” You still couldn't believe he'd just put himself out like that, he wasn't martyr.
“I did, at first, I guess. Things just didn't work out, that's all I gotta say about that.” He seemed adamantly unwilling to tell you why, and you didn't push the issue. Something about the way his hands tightened on the mug, and his eyes narrowed, you felt like you had no right to ask. You nodded and sipped your cocoa together in silence for a bit, before you suddenly gulped the rest of yours down.
“Hey, if you want, you can take a hot shower.” You said, standing up. He looked up at your sudden change in position. “It's cold out, and we just walked a ways... I thought maybe you'd like the chance to.” He stared into the mug still half full and reached to scratch the back of his neck with the other.
“Sure, if yer' offerin'.”
“Great. Finish that and-” as you said so, you watched him down the rest of the tapu cocoa like you had done earlier and reached up to hand you the now empty mug. “well, that takes care of that. I can't do much while the water in the shower is running, but tomorrow you can wash your clothes if you want.” He shrugged and you turned to walk away.
“Hey.” You heard him call out behind you and stopped, but didn't turn around. “Why you bein' so nice to me anyway? I ain't done nothin' to earn it.” Even though his tone played casual, behind it you could sense a tone of uncertainty and wariness, as if hospitality was a trap to him, that he didn't want to set off.
“I told you, it's not like I don't like you. Just be grateful I came by when I did. I'll be in bed when you get out, but I'll get some blankets and stuff for you.”
“Yeah, sure.” As you put the cups in the sink and ran the hot water you heard him get up from behind you and start down the hallway but stop. You laughed to yourself, sure he was confused which door to open and didn't want to invade the wrong one.
“Door on the right!” You called to him, and heard a faint 'thanks' in response. After you finished washing the cups and heard the water running, you made sure to grab blankets and pillows for the living room, and laid them out there. Only a few minutes later you were crawling into bed with the door shut, ready to sleep; you hadn't realized how tired you were. As you felt yourself falling asleep questions raced through your mind: was this a good idea? What kind of person had you invited into your home? What would people say? Should you tell your mom?
All valid, but they weren't things you were willing to entertain now as you heard the water turn off only just before you finally slipped asleep.

And they gladly help her out with her daily tasks
If for some reason they are feeling rowdy or the need to battle she will gladly let them out to let loose some of this energy
Maki Harukawa
When she was small she was taken and forced to be a member of an evil organization
There she was trained to be brutal and show no mercy towards her opponents
She was also forced to use her Pokemon as tools and push them further then they should ever go
Thankfully when she was 16 the team was found out and disbanded.. so she was finally free
Her team would be Dusknoir, Noivern, Salazzle, Bisharp, Sharpedo, and Houndoom
Once she is free both her and her Pokemon are taken in for therapy to help recover from the years of abuse
She was ready to release them as soon as the therapy was over, thinking that her Pokemon hated her but they actual care about her and want to stay by her side
She now spends her time traveling around and helping disband and ruin evil organization after organization
Sure it might be dangerous but she doesn't want anyone else to be put through what she did
Tenko Chabashira
Her team would be Medicham, Mienshao, Hawlucha, Hariyama, and (Mega) Lopunny
(And of course all of the Pokemon are female)
She is a traveling martial artist trying to study each regions unique style and make the ultimate form!
She trains vigorously everyday with her Pokemon
She actually incorporates some of her Pokemon moves into her fighting style
She really cares about her Pokemon and always makes that they are happy and healthy
Like Kaito, she actually let's her Pokemon use their moves on her during their practices
(Of course they hold back so they don't seriously hurt her but sometimes they can go overboard..)
(But Tenko never holds it against them she just smiles and tell them that they were amazing)
Tsumigi Shirogane
While she is not a battler I can definitely see her being a coordinator and performing in many contests
Her team would be Ditto, Beautifly, Milotic, Cinccino, Stufful, and Tsareena
She works hard to bring out the beauty of her Pokemon on stage
In fact most of her's and her Pokemon's costumes are hand made!
(She has got offers in the past from fellow coordinators to make outfits for them but she declines every time since she puts so much love and effort into them)
Her Pokemon are like family for her and she will spend countless sleepless nights to make the perfect outfits for them
(Though this upsets her Pokemon and they have to force her to sleep and sometimes eat)
Whenever she begins to plan a new outfit she has the Pokemon she is making it for help look for fabric and constantly makes sure they like the design of it
Yes she has even won contests with Ditto, she is actually famous for it in the contest community
No one ever thought a Ditto could win ribbons
