Miguel and Gabriel analysis talk (OG comics)
Kinda…maybe…idk…
Content warnings: there is mention of the abuse Gabriel and Miguel went through
Content warnings: there is mention of Miguel’s suicidal tendencies here
This may come out as complete ramble that doesn’t make sense and honestly that’s to be expected as I’m very passionate about this, like…extreme so
This is about the idea of Miguel relying unhealthily on Gabriel and how I believe the new writing direction of the comics cannot be canon to Miguel’s character and mischaracterise him because I fully believe that he would not be able to successfully be a hero without his brother.
If you don’t know in nearly all the new comics for Miguel o’hara, Gabriel o’hara dies, he’s either already dead, or dies within the comic, we are seeing that with the new comics about to come out as well, it’s even within the novel.
Though I do think the novel did a good job, the novel showed Miguel became a shell of himself, and became nothing, unable to find proper purpose, but yet I still think that isn’t right, it isn’t what I be,I’ve Miguel would do.
Now you need context of everything first, Miguel is spiderman second, but he is a victim of family based abuse first. It is what makes him. Him. The only family that has not abused him is Gabriel, his little brother, another victim of abuse
George is written to be an abusive asshole, he is misogynistic, racist, verbally, mentally, and physically abusive, to the point it’s believed that Gabriel could have gone through physical abuse, he was pushy and forced Miguel into schooling he didn’t want.
Conchata is neglectful, and physically abusive, even if the writers tried to pretend it was just normal things for mothers to do and kept trying to make him and her reconnect, and within latest comics she tends to appear to blame Gabriel’s death on him.
Kron stone is Miguel’s bully, he spends his time attempting to kill Miguel, publicly shaming him in front of people, and such in a way that can be considered another form of abusive. All while having a power position held over Miguel due to his father.
Tyler stone is abusive, he drugs Miguel, he admits he groomed Miguel, he’s not a good person, simple as that, he’s meant to be a villain in his writings. Edit: he also has an extreme power over Miguel though that’s part of grooming.
Who’s the only alive member we see that isn’t like this? Gabriel, his baby brother, that’s why Miguel is dependent on him. And I’m going to explain more on how he’s dependent
It’s shown that a form of self harm Miguel does is pushing people away he cares for and desperately needs, when he wants to harm himself, he harms the people he cares for, pushes them away. He has done this so much with Gabriel, the first time we properly see Gabriel, miguel is trying to push him away, trying to avoid him. Miguel attempted to push him deeply away in the way of cheating on Xina with Gabriel’s girlfriend Dana, he keeps working for the company that Gabriel hates, he does everything in small ways to get Gabriel to hate him. It’s purposeful, it’s because he needs his brother, and because he needs his brother, he has to attempt to push him away. He has to. That’s his self harm, which shows that Gabriel is one of the most important people to him.
Miguel needs Gabriel, he can’t deal without his little brother, in fact at the very end of the 1992 comics, when miguel leaves things behind and seemingly quits for some time (until later 1990s comics) that only comes after his brother actually “abandons” him, which we end up knowing isn’t true as it was a shape shifter pretending to be Gabriel, but the reason it seems Miguel ends up not giving up and attempts to keep going on is to find Gabriel. His purpose becomes more so to find Gabriel, to keep him safe, he knows Gabriel is alive and well, and needs to find him. That becomes his purpose including in alternative universes. Edit: his reason for staying spiderman is purely because of wanting Gabriel’s safety by all means
Miguel needs Gabriel, he can’t live without him, he can’t do that, and I’m saying that he would not live, he’d refuse to without Gabriel. You already see he is suicidal, he is known as the suicidal spiderman, he may be passive suicidal, we see drawings of him hanging himself. We hear how he makes plans to end himself, we see how he wants to end it but is too much of a coward. And I say he’s a “coward” as he sees himself as still having a slight purpose, to stay with his brother. But if he doesn’t have his brother?
Gabriel is his self control, his reason to live, the only family he has that loves him, he needs Gabriel, he needs his little brother, he can’t be without his brother. If you go by 1992-1995 writing, then it has to be argued that Miguel wouldn’t just keep being a hero, he wouldn’t keep being alive.
How to make Gabriel disappear?
The thing is the writers tend to kill off Gabriel to push the story, to push the narrative, Gabriel is like that female character in stories that gets killed off for the male protagonist, this time he’s just a brother, a brother that should not have had this happen, it doesn’t make sense logically. The thing is they treat Gabriel as uncle Ben, he isn’t, uncle Ben exists in their universe and is long dead, Miguel is not Peter Parker, Peter Parker exists in his universe and is long gone, he does not have a uncle Ben, it shouldn’t be that way, Gabriel is not his uncle, he is his only family he cares for, at most he should be treated like aunt may possibly, but barely.
I believe the real way to may Gabriel disappear is to not kill him but make him leave by his own will, alive. Gabriel goes through a lot of things, and logically him leaving Miguel behind can work. Gabriel’s girlfriend cheats on him with Miguel, his next girlfriend falls for Miguel, George only ever cared for Miguel, Miguel is loved by entire nations as spiderman, conchata starts to give him more attention, Gabriel is a victim of abuse that is a people pleaser, who is desperate for his mothers love, if he has to share his mothers love when he struggles to get the love of anyone else? Yeah that may start to push him over the edge, on top of that but Miguel does push him away, Miguel gives Gabriel many reasons to disown him. By all means Gabriel gets put through a lot of shit.
Make it so Gabriel leaves Miguel due to things Miguel can’t control but also can control, make it so that Miguel has to confront himself. Miguel has to see his actions, has to see his self harm, has to see how he’s a dickhead pushes people away. See how him doing things like idk sleeping with his brothers girlfriends is extremely bad. Make it so Miguel has to grow and learn to change, and go through difficult times, by getting Gabriel to leave him alive.
If you take Gabriel away by killing him off, it doesn’t give Miguel proper reason to change, it gives him reason to die. His brother that loved him so much and he loved so much died? What’s the point? But the brother that loved him and he loves so so much doesn’t care for him anymore? Miguel goes through a depression and then changes himself, so he can be around his brother again.
You take a desperate man barley living and get rid of his reason to live, and you don’t have what marvel is trying to convince you they have.
But hey that’s just personal opinion and maybe a fanfic idea for someone :D

A small spider-man 2099 reading guide
Just watched atsv and wondering where to start getting into Miguel O’Hara? Hate trying to figure out comic timelines? Well hopefully this guide can help a little bit. Please note its far from a definitive guide and could probably use some work but I'm hoping it helps someone out! Also not including spider-verse appearances or those in most other comics, because we could be here forever listing every comic appearance and this is meant to be a quick guide Miguel's original appearance was in Amazing Spider-Man #365, but that was more of a preview than anything else. I've split it pre-2000's and post-2000's, but listen to me if you have to pick one comic to read out of all of this make it the original 1992 run. You basically cannot go wrong with just reading 1992. A few have been marked with asterisks because you really don't have to read them but it felt wrong to not include them on the list.
Pre 2000's
Spider-man 2099 (1992): Literally Required Reading. Keep in mind that the last two issues had different writers and are kinda disregarded by just about everyone. Issue #16 starts the crossover event Fall of The Hammer, a mini-guide to which I've included below. The Special and Annual take place in between issues but it's easiest to just read them last.
Spider-Man 2099 Meets Spider-Man (1995): It's short, it's sweet, give it a read.
*2099: World of Tomorrow (1996): At the time this was meant to close off all the 2099 plots, theres lots of other 2099 characters in here but a fair bit of Mig.
*2099: Manifest Destiny (1998): Further closure to the 2099 world, again lots of other characters but still a solid read. Basically waves away the last two issues of sm2099 (1992) in a slightly hilarious way and worth reading just for that.
Fall of the Hammer crossover mini-guide:
Spider-man 2099 (1992) #16
Ravage 2099 #15
X-men 2099 #5
Doom 2099 (1993) #14
Punisher 2099 (1993) #13
Post 2000's
*Superior Spider-man (2013) issues #16-19: Largely set up but its cool too
Spider-man 2099 (2014): You can read this without the Superior Spider-man setup but depending on your prior comic reading experience you may be a bit confused. If you're a seasoned reader and used to taking weird comic shifts in stride due to missing some random issues of a completely different comic you'll be fine
Spider-man 2099 (2015): Solid run, I don't have much to say about it honestly
Marvel's 2099 (2019 event): you are better off looking up a separate guide for this one it is not my ballpark

Imagine how happy Gabriel would be to hear that Miguel actually might now see a way forward with Conchata, that maybe one day the three of them could feel like a family...just thinking about how much Gabriel hurt seeing her grow more and more cold towards Miguel as the toll George's abuse took on her really started to show, and watching Miguel distance himself further, referring to her as crazy lady instead of ma because he can no longer see in her mother he had before he was torn away from her and Gabriel
Then everything changes: Miguel becomes spiderman and begins to shed the arrogance and selfishness that he's protected himself with since school, and Conchata gets away from the hospital and takes the closure she so desperately needs into her own hands - she wants to be better for her sons, both of them. She's inspired by spiderman, not knowing its her own son under the mask..and with both her and Miguel being in a better place than they've each been in years they can finally start to work on healing their relationship

THE CREATOR OF SPIDER-MAN 2099 NEEDS OUR HELP!
(Go Fund Me link)
https://gofund.me/f77e5f41
Peter David created the character Miguel O’Hara in 1992, but today his health is declining and medical bills are piling up.
Peter David had a series of Strokes, a mild heart attack, and is experiencing kidney failure. The medical bills for surgeries, rehab, and extensive hospital stays are steep. His home has to be completely remodelled to accommodate his wheelchair and new needs.
Peter and his wife have very little income at this point in time. He is employed at Marvel but is on leave so he receives no income. Conventions were also a large source of income but he cannot attend due to his health. His wife, Kathleen, has had to cut her work hours because she is juggling taking care of Peter, and the home renovations.
Please donate if you can, and please share the gofundme.

Mr. Sims.
The beginning of Dr. O’Hara’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
Felt like intentionally over-working a b&w sketch featuring the most minor and forgotten of characters. Also weird perspective choices lol.
I was ruminating on how the inciting incident for Spider-man 2099 (1992) was this bit where Miguel puts himself in a position of authority to try to mitigate harm and ends up killing someone (with the machine that later gives him his powers). There’s almost a pattern here. Brundlefly-ified Mr. Sims' mouth isn't actually visible in the comic panels he shows up in, so I took some artistic liberties and gave him the fangs. He already has the red eyes, so why not?
I like when Spider-man stuff leans into the mad science body horror. It's like the little flavor packet in the ramen.

so, then, what IS up with miguel o’hara’s moral backbone?
lol sorry if y’all’re sick of my 2099 soapboxing. anyways.
while i understand where the reading of “miguel is a morally bankrupt evil scientist and his spider-man is just a violent shitheel” comes from, i just... really can’t ever get behind it, based on what we see in the text of SM2099 v1 (1992-1996) itself.
like, don’t get me wrong-- from our first introduction to the guy, we very quickly learn that he has been a cog in the machine for one of the 2099 imprint’s Big Bads, the ruthless megacorporation in charge of the United States’ East coast: Alchemax.
..but. like.
the whole point of his origin story is changing that. the initial catalyst for his Spidering--getting roofied by Tyler when he tries to quit his job--would not have happened if he had no moral compass to speak of.
narratively, it’s less that miguel himself is changed, after he gets his powers, but that his perception of the world has changed.
just-- just bear with me, yeah?
see, for a lot of his life, miguel was a perfect cog in a shitty machine, and he did everything he was expected to without even thinking to stray from the path set down for him by his biological father and by alchemax overall.
and, then, suddenly, that’s all ripped from him in an instant. and miguel’s left floundering in the water.
he’s no longer on the winning team-- more than that, he realizes that he probably never even was on the right side of things, to begin with.
miguel o’hara’s most-quoted line is his response to the infamous “great power,” bit: Great responsibility? No. With great power comes great guilt.
he’s repressed, and he’s a hypocrite, but a guy can only turn a blind eye so far when something he knows is wrong is happening right in front of his face.
as soon as it’s even suggested to him, he immediately steps out of line and tries to put his foot down on absolutely not using a human test subject for his personal spider-man project. when stone brushes him off and makes them go through with human testing anyways, and then the subject dies, miguel doesn’t hesitate to turn up his nose and walk out right then and there on the spot.
his reward for it, of course, is an ice-cold dose of Reality.
from there, his blinders get pulled harshly off his face, and mig realizes that he really doesn’t want to keep being the person that he has been. his life has been wasted sitting idly by and letting bad things happen because all he knows is helpless compliance, right up until he goes and gets himself The Fly’ed into spider-man.
and once that happens, and he Realizes it, he starts to fight back.
that’s how the run is kick-started, in the very first three issues!
the first ten issues of spider-man 2099 (1992) follow miguel stumbling from a very sheltered life, having been thrust head-first into navigating a world that is not only deeply, deeply unjust, but also wants him very, very dead.
he don’t got a dead uncle to motivate him! all he’s got it his own fear and an inner desire to use his new abilities to try and make the world a better place.
hell, the first time he put on the costume, ol’ miggy boy wasn’t even doing so for the purpose of becoming a superhero in his off-time-- it was just an old spare in his closet that he threw on in a desperate attempt to Not Fucking Die as a bounty hunter tracked him to his home.
it’s only later on, after he’s had time for it all to sink in, that miguel realizes that he can actually meaningfully help the people who had been cast aside by the same society that had previously lifted him up above them.
as much as he whines and bitches and moans about it, he never seriously considers throwing in the towel and hanging up the costume for good. he may hate what has happened to him, but he never once seems to hate what he can now do with his powers, vis-à-vis challenging injustice.
mig’s often stuck between a rock and a hard place, what with the kind of world he lives in. it’s why he don’t work well when he’s stranded away from his dimension. peter can get his villains locked up just fine and dandy, but miguel’s world isn’t like ours like that. it’s brutal and it’s very very much established across the imprint that earth-928 (marvel 2099) is a kill-or-be-killed place to live.
despite how people harp on him not having a no-kill rule, miguel honestly hasn’t even killed enough people to count on one hand; the first was completely by accident, even, and the second told him to his face that if spider-man let him live he’d just keep being a cannibal gang-boss because no one else ever has or would try to oppose him.
is killing people the answer? not if you have any other option. but. mig ain’t a friendly neighborhood superhero. he’s just doing what he thinks is right in the moment while scared absolutely shitless for his life most of the time.
now, i don’t mean to defend his every action--miguel o’hara isn’t a saint, and, good god, but he’s made some questionable choices--but. at the end of the day, he’s still shown throughout the run to be trying to be better.
and, i dunno. maybe i’m just a sentimental little sap, but a story about somebody who finally “wakes up” and struggles to build a life worth being proud of after years of having shut down from heavy early-life trauma? that hits, man.
hits real close to home, to be honest. learning to Live after so long simply Surviving is fuckin’ hard, man.

Possibly good news for Xina Kwan nation a new Miguel o’hara comic is coming out and it is with venom and Kron stone, which could very possibly mean one thing, Xina Kwan IS BACK IN BUSINESS
It’s only a theory but Xina Kwan was so heavily rooted in the venom plot of the comics, she was used as bait for Miguel, she nearly died, and she ended with survivors guilt due to Dana dying when she lived due to venom/Kron, if Kron comes back doing chaos and venom is involved this means a very possible chance that after all these years Xina Kwan will come back 🥺🥺
Tumblr media
It just makes so much sense that she would be in the comic! She is such a big part of the og comic’s
(Repeating here kinda🔽)
Like her character after a while was very heavily dependent on the venom arc that happened! She got severe survivors guilt from it and that’s how she left the series for the time being, she had returned in other comics such as the doom comics, and two that aren’t canon (one where Miguel is spiderman but a teen and she’s friends with Kron for…some reason) (other where she married Miguel after the events of 1900s og comics)
But she was basically forgotten oted by marvel, they just kicked her out of Miguel’s life, so here is to hoping she comes back big and string

some fun facts about Spider-Man 2099:
He’s probably older as a character than you might think; he was first published in August 1992, and was created by Peter David (who is likely most well known among Marvel fans for, alongside Greg Pak, being the biggest contributor to some of the Hulk’s best stories)
He’s not a standalone character. Miguel O’hara is part of the Marvel 2099 sub-continuity, which can be best described as a cyberpunk dystopia spinning off after a bad future for the rest of the Marvel universe as a whole. It is very much in the model of a standard cyberpunk setting with corporations running the world into the ground and oppressing people in the name of profit. In this era, there have been no superheroes and most of them are remembered only as vague stories that people desperately want to believe in, or iconic folklore that people really behind.
In this regard, it may also be possible to view O’hara as a contrast to Spider-Punk, who also comes from a dystopia oppressed by corporations, though they ultimately have broadly opposite reactions to it.
Miguel is notable for having a great deal of differences from the ‘average’ Spider-Man incarnation, with a great deal of purely physical alterations that are otherwise not very typical in spider powers.
His best friend is an AI, whom was seen glimpsed at the end of Into The Spiderverse
He arguably has a very important role in Spider-Man history; while Miles Morales has definitely eclipsed his fame and become a part of the main Marvel universe, Miguel was significantly more popular than the other 2099 stories and remained fairly well known across comics at the time, which also ties into his cameo in Into The Spiderverse; he arguably had the most amount of importance as a Spider-Man legacy character before Miles, and was the most prominent non-Parker incarnation, even moreso than Mayday Parker.
There was a short-lived animated series called Spider-Man Unlimited that I always interpreted as an attempt to adapt aspects of Miguel O’Hara, though the most it has in common is that the suit Spider-Man wears in it looks an awful lot like Miguel’s look; its otherwise not very much like 2099 at all, besides a cyberpunk angle, and features a displaced Peter Parker.
There is likely some interesting angles in comparing and contrasting the respective settings of Miles’ original world (the Ultimate universe) and Miguel’s. Miguel is, as noted, fundamentally a cyberpunk character, and was technically one of the more positive characters in it, a true hero in a world of bleak despair amid corporate control; while there were other heroes, there weren’t enough, and things were bad enough that Doctor Doom popping up to take over the world made him seem like an anti-hero at worst. In contrast, Miles was one of the few purely positive figures in the Ultimate setting, which in its attempts to imitate the likes of the Authority often depicted classic Marvel heroes in horrific ways; the Hulk was often implied to be a sexually violent cannibal, Wolverine tried to sleep with an underage girl, Carol Danvers gets downright enthusiastic at the prospect of torturing an alien who had been her friend.. even Miles’ dad was an anti-mutant bigot. Miles himself, though, was a whole and genuine hero (if a reluctant one) who was one of the few truly noble people in the setting, so there’s an element in their conflict here.

Not a fic request but do you have some lore you know abt Gabriel O’Hara from the comics? Like, abt if he’s close with Miguel or not, did he die or not, and what job does he have
oh hey smokey :DDD OK, so from my observations in the comics, gabri is ...... imo, kind of a beige flag? more green for the most part though. he's sweet, caring (overly caring sometimes) and is a very loving boyfriend and brother. he does get his shit taken away from miguel a lot of the time, though he did find the heart to move past that (until the latter parts of the comics) and honestly, because his heart is too big for his body, he's easily swayed by the women he loves and changes himself according to how they act. gabri struggles to find lasting relationships and feel loved for who he is :( i hate kasey nash in the 1992 run @binibinileonara back me tf up
but yeah, my boy needs a lot of love, he didn't get a lot of it and even when he did, it kinda fell apart most of the time and didn't last ;-;

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
December 9th - Spider-Man 2099
Miguel O’Hara is a brilliant biologist and engineer of Irish and Mexican descent who grew up in the potential future of the parallel universe of Earth-928.  Miguel  worked for the mega-corporation known as Alchemax which held vast control over the city of Nueva York.  He had been involved in a secretive project at Alchemax that sought to alter the human genome by introducing animal and insect genetic materials. The experiments were largely a failure and entailed the deaths of several human test subjects.
Outraged over unsafe and unethical practices, Miguel tendered his resignation to the chief financial officer, Tyler Stone.  Yet Miguel was too pivotal to the program and Stone drugged Miguel with a hallucinogen in order to force him to continue working on the project.  In a hallucinogenic daze, Miguel ended up injecting himself with a new version of the genome-altering formula involving arachnid DNA.
Miguel managed to survive and ended up bestowed with fantastic super powers.  These newfound abilities include greatly enhanced physical attributes (speed, strength and agility), an augmented healing factor and slowed aging process, as well as the ability to generate a web-like fluid that excretes from fissures on the underside of his writs.  Inspired by the Spider-Man of his past, Miguel decided to use these powers to become a superhero; he became the Spider-Man of 2099.
As Spider-Man, Miguel would go on to have countless adventures, quite often fighting against Alchemax and the plethora of villains their diabolical experiments created. Miguel’s exploits also involved inter-dimensional time travel and he met the original Spider-Man of Earth 616, sharing a number of adventures alongside the web-slinger.  Miguel would additionally become embroiled in the various Spider-Verse events, joining forces with other spider-based heroes from across the multiverse.
Actor Oscar Isaac will provide the voice of the hero in the upcoming sequel to the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.  Spider-Man 2099 first appeared in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1 #365 (1992).

Alright I gotta tell you guys how hilarious Spider-Man 2099 is!
Okay, so to set it up, Miguel O’Hara is part Irish, part Latino. Very progressive for 1992, but it’s set in the cyberpunk dystopia future, so take it as you will.  He’s the head of the genetics division of the Umbrella/Weyland Yutani megacorp company, Alchemax, but he lives alone with a hologram waifu, just like in Blade Runner 2045.
He’s a big fan on the original spider-man, and when the big wigs ask him to make a super soldier gene sequence, he writes up some DNA code to give a human spider powers, but then he realizes that the megacorp is evil as hell, and quits his job.

Then his boss is like “Haha no you don’t” and puts some super scifi heroine in his drink at the company christmas party. it instantly makes him physically dependant. the drug binds itself to his very DNA, making it so if he doesn’t regularly take the drug, he’ll die. The evil buisiness man tells him that he can either continue to work for him, or he can kiss his ass goodbye.
Miguel says fuck that, and writes up a program to remove the drug from his DNA. but when he goes into the DNA pod, a jealous coworker shows up and hits randomize on the DNA machine to try and kill him. just because.
Miguel gets the spider DNA he was experimenting on. He’s no longer addicted to super heroine, but now he’s got fangs, monster eyes, and spider claws on his fingers. The jealous coworker tries to kill him with a gun when he realizes that Miguel survived, but shoots a compressed air tank instead, and the whole lab explodes. Miguel tries to save the guy who tried to kill him, but his new super strength and talons break the guy’s hand right off.
Tumblr media
Miguel runs from the cops, and sees a guy dressed as thor, riding a hang glider and shouting through a megaphone that Ragnarok is coming. He’s like a Thor worshipper, but in a creepy cult way.Miguel hitches a ride on the flying thor cosplayer to get away from the cops, then crashes in his bed at home.

Meanwhile, big bad buisinessman wants to know who blew up his gene lab, so he sends a fuckin cyborg bounty hunter to track the guy down. Like this guy looks like he’s cosplaying Cad Bane, Cowboy hat and all.
Tumblr media
Miguel wakes up when his brother comes over to ask if he’s still addicted to space crack, then sees the cade bane cosplayer walking down the street from his window. His spider sense lets him know that this guy is the real deal, so he tells his brother to get lost and searches his closet for a disguise. He figures that Cade Bane has his scent, but he doesn’t know his name or face, so he finds an actual halloween costume in his closet.
Tumblr media
The costume is made to look like across between spider-man and a Day of the Dead skeleton man, and it’s made from Unstable Molecules, because the party he wore it was a real banger. For those who don’t know, Unstable Molecules are what the Fantastic Four wear. it’s what lets Reed Richards stretch out his arms, or Johnny Blaze not need to go find new pants every time he Flames On.
so he literally had a halloween spider-man costume made of super space kevlar just laying around, and it’s the sickest spider-man costume ever drawn.
Tumblr media
Miguel then dives out the window. His own window. Even though he doesn’t want the bounty hunter to know where the new Spider-Man lives. Then he falls at least a hundred feet, hoping that the spider-web cape on his back will work as a parachute. It doesn’t, but he sticks out his foot and the bounty hunter’s face break’s his fall.
So after Miguel kicks this guys ass, he goes ahead and becomes a superhero, because the Dystopia Nueva York is full of freaky gangs and corrupt cops. It was set in the future, so comic writers could get away with showing how nasty the NYPD really could be. He’s also set out to take revenge against the guy who tried to kill him with super crack, which is just what you do in a cyberpunk dystopia.

*Over the Alchemax building's intercom* “ I’ve come to make an announcement. Tyler Stone’s a bitch-ass mothershocker. He hit on my shocking fiancé. That’s right, he-“
O’hara Migu from the manga, with his ATSV movie design. I was looking for in-character things for him to do while I was learning how to draw his weird face, and I ended up with a typical interaction between Miguel and his boss at Alchemax.
I actually own an old physical copy of an issue from the original comic run from the 1992. It's the one where he's running around butt-naked and wants to die, then hang-glides off a roof and attacks a robot cowboy. I also realized recently that I can read the rest of the comics, because the internet exists and I don't have to hunt down physical copies of anything anymore. It has been hilarious to find out Miguel is as rude and bitchy in his comics as he is in the movie.
Comic Miguel's FutureReddit threads be like:
"My boss keeps anglicizing my name and hitting on my fiancé. Where should I hide the body?"
Also, I really appreciate the multiple artists in the 1992 run deciding to make Tyler Stone ugly as fuck for no reason.
