Day 2 of @underrated-d20-event! The themes for today were Mice & Murder and Flowers, so I decided to write about, imo, the most underrated MiMu PC – which is to say, Vicar Ian Prescott!

Grave Flowers (211 words)

Something was deeply, deeply wrong.

Vicar Ian Prescott just couldn’t shake the thought. Especially not as he watched the recently departed Mr. McCabbage’s coffin be lowered into the ground.

The coffin was empty.

Few people knew, of course. But he did. He knew that the police hadn’t found the body, that they had given up on looking after suspiciously little time. He knew that Ms. McCabbage was crying to an empty coffin – the best coffin she was able to buy, which is to say, the cheapest coffin she found on sale.

What had happened to poor Mr. McCabbage?

Some spoke of an incident. Few spoke of murder. Most didn’t speak of it at all – what a gruesome thing death was, after all.

Still, the Vicar could feel it in his guts, in the flutter of his feathers, even as he recited his prayer to the small crowd assembled for the funeral. Something was wrong.

The coffin was buried, but the truth was not buried alongside it. It had to be out there somewhere.

He could only hope it would come to light before the rest of his parish was laid to rest in this same graveyard.

He could only hope he would not have to pick anymore bouquets for the graves.

Smoo, Smoodle, SmooSmoo, Moodle, Mimu, Meemaloo, Smacky Smoo, Lil Smoo (her rapper name), Weewoo (my dad's name for her), Bun, Little Bun, Bumper Sticker, Lil'bit, Biddy, Pocahontas (I don't remember why), Bean, Yell Master 8000, Karen, Cranky, Wee Whiny Tiger, Shromp, Boney...

She's somewhere north of 16 and has thyroid issues. It means she's a cranky skeleton who sleeps a lot. (Don't worry. She's medicated twice a day and given tons of wet food. This makes vacationing challenging for her humans.) She now weighs SIX whole pounds! That's pretty hefty for her runty ass.

If she is denied a lap to sleep on, her preferred forms are Bun Shape and Shrimp Shape.

She's extremely affectionate to her two pet humans, and hates all other living creatures. We tried getting her a friend once and she did violence unto all of us until we removed Other Cat. (Toot was the least feral stray in our yard who loved pets and treats from humans. We caught him and got him fixed intending to adopt him , but wound up sending him to live with a friend instead.)

@underrated-d20-event day 14! We're halfway through!! Today's themes were Constance Brockhollow and Duel, which was a perfect opportunity to include a certain dobermann sergeant :) Takes place post-MiMu but doesn't really spoil anything I think?

Lars took another second to make sure the wrapping on their paws was tight enough before looking up at their opponent, a cocky smile on their snout.

"Are you sure you want to go ahead with this, Lady Brockhollow?" they teased, raising their hand up to challenge her.

But Constance did not falter against Lars’s challenge, answering in kind with her own smirk. "I am quite positive, yes. Thank you for inquiring."

Before Lars could retort with another witty quip, Constance had pounced, swiping at them with sharp claws and a dangerous look in her eyes. Though Lars had already seen Constance at work during their time in the Brockhollow Mansion – and had, in fact, been quite impressed by the ease with which she had bodyslammed the people who had stood in her way – they had elected this to be a friendly, and easy spar; but their predator drive immediately flared up at the sight of the wild beast Constance had become. It was clear she wasn’t holding back.

Good. Neither would they, then.

They slid to the side, narrowly avoiding the badger’s strike, and grabbed her arm, hoping to use her momentum to throw her across the plaza. Unfortunately, Constance did not fall for that trick, slamming her feet onto the ground to anchor herself. Lars threw their fist at her, only for her to catch it in the palm of their hand and twist it around, getting a yelp out of them.

It wasn't over yet, though. They took advantage of her being distracted to shift and ram into her using their shoulder, forcing her to let go of their fist and step back. The two of them were back where they started – though their breaths were halted with pants.

They glared at each other for a few seconds, waiting to see which one of them would go first. After a moment, Lars decided they would not let her get the upper hand a second time and jumped at her – but their target was very specific: they were aiming for the legs, to try and make her trip.

Wrong idea, as it turned out: with a roar, Constance let herself fall on top of Lars entirely, slamming their body into the ground and rendering them incapable of moving anything but their head.

"Ouh… that hurt," Lars whined like the sad dog they were inbetween two gasps for air.

Constance snorted. "Sorry about that, Sergeant," she lied, "but I’m afraid there is a clear winner here, isn’t there?"

Lars’ smile came back to their face. Yeah, they definitely liked this lady.

"It certainly looks like it, yes. How about we go for round two?"
