I love the SPN fandom but honestly it’s so stressful sometimes 😭

For example earlier today I googled “Misha Collins girlfriend” because I heard a rumor that he has a girlfriend, I couldn’t find much besides stuff talking about Vicky so I scrolled down and saw a tumblr post saying something about Misha being attracted to men (which I don’t necessarily disagree with, but I don’t want to tell another person what they are) and women so I clicked on it and it was a huge post (like, a couple paragraphs) talking about some strange things. I don’t remember exactly but at one point the user brought up the “fact” that Misha makes jokes about women and sex?? As in making jokes at the expense of women… and I was like… are we talking about the same Misha here? He DOES make jokes about sex but I don’t recall him ever making jokes at the expense of women. Only thing I can think of is that one story about one of his earlier acting jobs and he didn’t know the “no tongue rule” but that was mostly at the expense of himself. Then I scrolled and found another post that was pretty disturbing…

Someone had screenshotted a regular instagram caption that Jensen posted just talking about how he just got done traveling, he wanted to take a nap, something like that—nothing sexual about the post at all or anything that would suggest that—and someone captioned it with something talking about him and Misha rubbing their [babymakers] together??? I audibly laughed out loud because wtf 😭😭

I don’t want to shame Jenmish shippers (I say Jenmish because Cockles is just a… very interesting name), even though I think it’s the slightest bit strange to be shipping real people… but again I never want to put anyone down for anything because I myself have said some stuff about Jensen and Misha that might suggest something between them.

Another thing is just the amount of hate for various cast members. Mostly the hate I see is for Jared and Misha; J2 fans who hate Misha, Jenmish fans who hate Jared, etc. There’s a lot of love in this fandom but ohmygOD there’s so much hate too. I guess that’s true for any fandom, but it’s so tiring sometimes.

Also, in this fandom, you’ll get hounded for any opinion you have. If you don’t like destiel, you’re homophobic. If you do like destiel, you’re also homophobic for some reason because queer bating or whatever… for the record i’d like to state that I am a proud destiel shipper just fyi. But I see so many people take it to the extreme, make little things into big things or something along those lines. Same thing with cockles shippers I was talking about earlier. I feel like I have a pretty neutral viewpoint on stuff regarding destiel; I see most things how they are, and I make my assumptions based on CANON things. I don’t say “Dean and Cas are definitely fucking”, I say “Dean and Cas love eachother but they cant express it, because Cas wasn’t even sure what love was and Dean’s highest ideal of love is family, which is why he says Cas is like a brother to him”. Now, if you don’t agree with me, guess what… that’s okay! If you don’t think destiel exists, that’s a valid point, and i’m not gonna dox you just because you have a different opinion than me. Because that’s just it, it’s an OPINION.

I could get into Sam haters and Dean haters and stuff… but I’m tired. Actually, you know what, screw it. I WILL GET INTO IT!!!

I’ve had a few experiences with Dean haters especially, and most of the time they just ADORE Sam and thinks he’s done nothing wrong. Let me clarify that I don’t hate Sam- like- at all. Then again, Dean haters who happen to be Sam stans have warped my view on Sam a little, but I won’t let that get in my way of honest judgment.

Sam. has. done. bad. stuff. DEAN. has. done. bad. stuff. Please don’t compare their trauma, they both have their own issues, one isn’t better than the other.

I might be biased because I relate to Dean so much (like a crazy amount it’s not even funny…), but for the millionth time in a row I DO NOT HATE SAM. I saw someone saying how Dean was the cause of almost every single world-ending event that happened in SPN… like honey no. Another person replied to their comment listing all of the world-ending events… and guess what… Sam was the cause of most of them!! Does that make him a hate-worthy character? No!!

I don’t know what point i’m trying to make here. I just think there’s so much in-fighting within the SPN fandom and as much as I love being in the fandom sometimes you just gotta have a break from all the drama. If you made it this far… go outside or something don’t pay attention to me i’m chronically online.

I used to watch "Dark Angel" religiously, but I was just a little shit, so I don't remember Jensen at all. 😂 I got tired of SPN after a while, but The Boys refueled my interest in Jensen 'cause he was really good. I'd like to see Misha in more projects too, I feel like Jensen and Misha have more potential than Jared (sorry Jay). But you know, there's nothing wrong with doing cons, JJM seem to enjoy it a lot. Chris though... I feel like he'd hate it, even tho I still think it's in his future.

I tried watching supernatural after dark angel, but i couldn't get into it, so forgot and then something got me on a jensen bender and i gave it another try and i got really into it. Until s5. Then i stopped buying the seasons dvds,and life interrupted, and then suddenly there were lots of other seasons that had passed me which they did suddenly send out (my country is really good with not showing anything, or behind your back years later continuing on a different channel at different times) ... and so i have watched some episodes of some later seasons, but missed a lot too.

Haven't watched the boys yet. I am on poor men's tv, and don't know how to be able to watch it without spending a lot more money and a lot more effort to find ways to see it. But i do want to watch it because Jensen is looking so so good...😳

And yeah i think those two might be easier to get a variety of roles and have proven to play different characters well.

Although look at the acting Jared shows in a Christmas Cottage, where his cry scene is top notch... I'm so sorry jared, it's just what i remember all these years later, is that it was a lot.

At least he's looking cozy and they styled his hair. It's almost unnerving.

I hope it's not Chris Martin because I don't want to look him up and find anything out. Not that i hate him, i just never think of him. He just came up as one of the chris's in a search. He looks like a lot of British singers had a lovebaby together.

If it's chris evans, i feel he'll like the first one, does okay with the second, grows tired and bored an annoyed and anxious by the time the third one comes around. Honestly the crowds, inappropriate questions and the constant noise would wear me out very quickly too, so i can't blame him. They seem fun but once in a while.

Wasn’t gonna make any other posts about this but the way this is has been getting out of hand is ridiculous. The fact is everyone here is on supernatural tumblr literally no one is better than anyone else. Almost everyone acting high and mighty about this has directly interacted with con content in the past, and don’t try to correct me on this, I have receipts.

The way people praised me and congratulated me after momento con always made me uncomfortable because I knew none of it was real, all the nice messages I was getting from people I didn’t know made me so anxious because I was so sure none of them meant it, well this past weekend proved me right. This is not for all of you who genuinely enjoyed my con updates and the friends who truly and really supported me, this is for the ones who engaged with my con updates back in September and are now shitting on me and my friends for posting about the nov 5th con this past weekend.

By now it’s common knowledge that we all had this planned before the events of denver con and we couldn’t get our money back, so we made the most of it and we had a list of questions to ask since we paid to be there and we took it as our responsibility to try to hold j2 accountable for all the shit they’ve said in the past. We didn’t get to ask our question but we did get to ask misha TWO questions which considering it’s a lottery getting to ask two destiel questions was a miracle. Would we ever go to another creation con? No. Truly it’s not worth it, the staff isn’t accommodating, the photo ops are rushed, and the atmosphere is rancid because the place is filled with j2 stans. This doesn’t mean that every con is like this, so many other cons are run by small groups of people and the fan atmosphere is so much better. Momento being one of them, this convention is run by ONE GUY and everyone there is a fan and they worked really hard to put that together. So yeah I’m going to continue to support these small cons, and I’m going to continue to purchase autographs and photo ops with the actors i like it’s my money and I work hard for it and I get to choose how I want to spend it. Nothing said on the dash today is going to take away that this past weekend was one of the best weekends of my life, I got to meet my phone friends and we got to have so much fun together. I don’t regret my misha autograph, I had the chance to actually talk to him and as someone who has been a fan of his for over 10 years yeah it meant a lot. You don’t have to engage with any of my con content if you don’t want to I literally tag everything, also you can just unfollow no one is forcing you to stay here. It just sucks to see all these comments hurt my friends, we all tried to include everyone on the dash on what was going on at the con because we felt like we were there representing the desticule and frankly, because so many of you asked us too. Jumping on the hate cons bandwagon barely two months after talking about finding hellers to attend these cons is hypocritical and disgusting and if you joined in any of it please unfollow me now. I won’t forget those who so quickly turned on so many of us over something so small.

This is supernatural tumblr, you are literally blogging about these men daily not going to a con isn’t going to really affect their careers, not to mention one of the best parts of the con is getting to interact with the other cast members, this show is about so much more than j2 and it’s been a part of my life for years I am not letting any of you drive me away from it or the friends I’ve made here. If you really want to stop supporting the actors maybe stop blogging about them and watching the show on Netflix instead of shitting on fans who just want to see the actors they actually do like in person and get to meet a community of fans who share the same feelings.

Could I perchance maybe ask uuuuum tf is going on??? lol I see Mish apparently confirmed he used to stay over at Jensen's in Van, and heard newbs were apparently freaking out about it and getting a bit messy, which I get that, business as usual. But I'm also seeing shit about spin-offs? And Jared getting in a twitter fight with Jensen, causing/resulting in stans to going feral and sending hate?? I know you're not as big a fan of Jar, but that's part of why I figured I'd ask you, you usually have a really level head about this kinda stuff. If you don't wanna answer publically, or at all, that's totally chill!

Hey, Rhi! We're still mutuals! Of course we're still mutuals! When I saw the notification of your ask, I was like "Hey! I haven't seen you in a while!" and my husband was like "???" and I said "Tumblr" and he said "Oh."

It was a wild time haha.

In any case, welcome back to the dumpster fire! We are obviously still a mess. So to catch you up, I guess I will start by summarizing both before and after the finale (not sure where you left off so this might be redundant for you) ... basically, it became obvious as the end of the show neared that Jensen was not on board with the plan for the finale; although Jared never stopped singing its praises.

We got confirmation of this during a zoom interview where Jensen said that he actually went into the writers room as well as called Kripke to basically voice how he didn't agree with the direction the final season was going, but he was shot down on all fronts. In another interview, he was asked "What would you tell your younger self going into this career?" And Jensen responded with: "I would tell myself to just keep your head down and do the work" meaning, "Don't try to change things because you can't." I also think that this whole situation is what he wrote "Let Me Be" about for his first Radio Company album, but that is just my own speculation. All of his reluctance, even though he always followed it up with "But I eventually saw the value in the script" or "I came around in the end" (which never sounded sincere, and I don't think he was really trying to sound sincere) made us all very nervous about what was to come for 15x20; and of course, when the last two episodes aired, we saw just how badly they fucked it up.

After the awful finale, the entire fandom became aware of the CW's heavy handed role in the thing, basically squeezing all the life out of SPN to shape it into a ramp from which Walker could launch itself. They not only erased all the love and joy and representation that Cas's love confession gave us, they also tore apart the things that made sense about the bond between Sam and Dean, making it really just about Sam-- and therefore Jared, which of course, Jared seemed to be fine with ... even though no one else was. Misha barely said anything during the finale, and a few of the other actors talked about the show ending in various posts, but Jared tweeted up a storm ... and Jensen? Jensen just sat in sexy-silent resentment of the whole thing. He didn't tweet, he didn't post, he didn't say a word once he no longer had to, and I think that's because he was already going full-steam-ahead on his plans for redemption.

Which brings us to Chaos Machine-- Jensen and Danneel's new production company that is being run by a queer creative director and has a mantra of inclusivity and representation woven throughout it's fabric; and apparently, the first story that Jensen wanted to tell through this new platform is the origin story of Sam and Dean's parents; so last week (?) he announced the upcoming production of "The Winchesters" -- the untold love story of John and Mary. Obviously, John is not the most likable character from the show, so the idea was met with a lot of resentment when it was first announced, but Jensen has gone on to say that he is excited to take on the task of telling the "true" story behind these characters-- the one that makes sense with the pre-established canon and doesn't reject it. So, given that, the idea is being mulled over with a bit more optimism from the fandom.

Who isn't being optimistic though?

Jared Padalecki.

When Jensen made this announcement on Twitter, many of his friends and coworkers congratulated him, but not Jared. Jared responded with a passive aggressive: "I'm happy for you, man, but I wish I didn't hear about it through Twitter." This of course, sent all the die-hard Jared fans into a tizzy and they immediately began asking him if he was serious (hoping it was just a joke-- we all hoped it was because there would be fallout no matter what one's opinion on Jared is). Instead of leaving it there though or just deleting that tweet, Jared went on to tweet some more, saying that he was being serious that he didn't know about the plans for the prequel, and that he was "gutted" that Sam apparenlty wouldn't be included (mind you, this a prequel to SPN... meaning BEFORE Sam and Dean were even born, so how could Sam be included? But Dean is apparently narrating this story so maybe Jared thought Sam should be helping to narrate it? I don't know). But Jared being Jared couldn't just leave that there, he then went on to tweet at Robbie Thompson who was announced as a writer for "The Winchesters" so then Jared went off on him too, calling him "Brutus" and a "coward" acting like Robbie betrayed him (speculation is-- Robbie refused to write for Walker, so Jared is pissed that he essentially chose Jensen over him). He did fairly quickly, remove that tweet attacking Robbie, but of course the damage was done at that point. And it truly only took his first tweet calling out Jensen for some people to be like "Jared-- that sucks if you didn't know but why are you saying any of this publicly?"

As you might know, Jared has had issues in the past with posting hurtful things on social media, and has even used it as a tool for attack before-- calling out customer service agents and public workers that he felt have wronged him, which is bad enough ... but for him to then do the same thing to his best friend of well over a decade? Many people who had once liked him or at least gave him the benefit of the doubt (I used to ...) stopped after this latest twitter tantrum.

However, some people have suspected for some time that J2 had a falling out either shortly before the finale or just after. Their public/social media interactions have seemed awkward, stilted or even non-existent in moments that they normally wouldn't be. In the past year, when Walker premiered, Jensen didn't say much about his friend's new venture other than a "Congrats. buddy" here and there. Later, we learned that Jensen refused to work on the show ... Jared said he make him do it, drag Jensen to the set "kicking and screaming" which made many fans quirk up an eyebrow because, why would Jensen put up a fight unless the two weren't as close as they used to be? And then Jensen moved his family to Colorado (either permanently or for an extended period at least) which is notable considering how he moved to Texas seemingly to be closer to Jared, even buying a house that was near his. All this was just speculation though; but it wasn't until Jared's tweet complaining about not knowing about the prequel that the theories behind them falling out, became less theory and more fact.

The day after his twitter tantrum, Jared tweeted again-- not retracting his statements or apologizing, but instead saying that he and Jensen "talked" and were "all good". Jensen then tweeted too, parroting this statement to some degree, which only made the whole thing even more sour in the mouths of the fans. The fact that Jared didn't apologize for his outburst and throwing his friend under the bus, and also the fact that Jensen-- Mr. Sexy Silence, Mr. Never Tweets, Mr. Tech-Ignorant-and-Proud, actually had to POST SOMETHING saying that he and Jared made up, it just screamed OPTICS. It was obviously the work of agents and PR firms and lots of people going "Look, if you two keep beefing, that will mean the death of both of your projects. Even more people will stop watching Walker, and this SPN prequel will never get picked up due to the scandal." So, the two "made nice" publicly to quell the chaos, but in my opinion, it's all too little too late. Jared started a storm that he can't contain now with a little tweet, and it seems like he knows that too because before he talked about him and Jensen making up, he asked that people "not send threats". He could have just as easily said that he shouldn't have made this a public issue and that he's sorry, but instead, he continued to play the victim and stoke the flames by alerting us all to the damage he's done.

Now, like I said before-- I used to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he's an awful human or that he deserves to be attacked or anything, but he is an adult man with very poor judgment and an obvious selfish-streak a mile wide. He should know better, and he should have more respect for his so-called "friends" and "brothers" than to make them targets to public ridicule. I have a hard time believing that Jensen still sees Jared the way he used to, and I wouldn't blame him a bit for wanting to pull away-- especially when he's moving on to so many new and exciting things. Jared certainly deserves happiness just as much as anyone else, but he went on twitter and basically asked for a scandal, and he got one.

The question is now-- was there a motive behind it? Was just looking for a reason to bring his and Jensen's falling out to light-- while making himself looking like the victim in the process? Or did he genuinely not know about the prequel and just decided to go about "not knowing" in the most toxic and hurtful way he could manage?

In any case, that is the drama ... that is the J2 insanity in a rather lengthy nutshell ... that is the tea ... and I hope it all makes sense.

But the good news out of all of this is, Cockles is thriving-- they are happy and in love and Jensen calls Misha "Babe" and Misha misses waking up to see Jensen in the morning, and they are just as cute and wonderful as can be.

So, I will end that there. I am so glad to see you back, and I hope I answered all your questions in a way that made sense ... I tried anyway!

Celebrities’ sexualities/relationships, and what not to post where

I’m going to make an all-purpose, general post about this topic, because it seems like there’s value in making one. Anyone who’s been following me here or on Twitter long enough has seen me address this before but often in specific scenarios, but y’know what... let me just make a general all-purpose post too just to lay this out for the sake of my own sanity.

We all know this is a thing: people like to speculate on celebrities’ sexualities and/or participate in “real person fiction” (RPF), and that’s been happening since the dawn of fandom. On some level, I understand why; it's exciting to think a celebrity might be queer especially if YOU are. We all want role models & we all want that to be normalized, etc... and sometimes it’s a case of “like recognizes like”; queer people can spot other queer people. But whether or not one is “correct” doesn’t matter, and either way, celebrities' lives are not for our consumption. They do not exist for our entertainment or speculation. This kind of talk can get out of hand very quickly in a way that ruins the lives of real people. 

So I am here to remind people to be mindful of what you say about celebrities, where you say it, and HOW you say it too.

For example: under no circumstances should you openly post things about celebrities’ sexuality or relationships on Twitter.

If you know this already, cool! Great! Good! Keep scrolling! But not everyone does know this, and either way, it’s always a good reminder–especially because people can get excited in the heat of a moment and these principles can easily accidentally fly out of the window.

Not all social media is “equal” or carries the same weight of potential real world consequence. Tumblr, for example, tends to influence little outside of here as long as the topic in question stays on Tumblr; AO3 fic stays on AO3, or at least it should. But Instagram comments or tweets do not exist in a vacuum or echo chamber the way people often seem to think, and often route back to the celebrities in question in harmful ways. Those platforms are open to the wider world in a way that can translate to very real consequence for the people being discussed.

What do I mean by that? A good example of how things can get unintended attention is what happened recently when memes about Misha Collins and Bill Clinton got out of hand, made their way to Twitter, and resulted in journalists writing articles that Misha felt he needed to address. On a more related note, recently Brie Larson made one offhand gay joke/reference in a personal Youtube video; it then trended worldwide and resulted in many articles too. There is now, unfortunately, high potential that she could be asked about and pressured about her sexuality in interviews in future. Did any of the people tweeting about those topics expect that to happen? Probably not, and yet it did. But these are good examples of how Twitter algorithms have vastly shifted, and keyword use is enough for things to easily and quickly trend outside of fandom’s intentions or control in ways that cause harm.

Putting any celebrities’ personal lives under a microscope, whether unintentionally or otherwise, is never a good idea. But it’s especially not a good idea when it comes to sexualities or personal relationships.

People will say “Shipping is just in the fandom! We know how to behave! What’s the problem? It’s never gone wrong before.” The problem is multilayered, but here are the main issues: the fact that nothing “bad” has happened before does not mean it never will. You can control your behavior, but you cannot control how other people–especially people who are new to your fandom–may or may not behave on the wider internet surrounding the topic of people's personal lives. Posting about it on main on somewhere like Twitter also inherently runs the risk of other outside parties seeing it, being like “what’s all this then?” and then picking it up and running with it further–whether that be ~haters~ or journalists.

People will also say “These celebrities know about this kind of fandom talk and they don’t care!” or “If the celebrities wanted us to stop this, they’d have said something by now!” To that I say: those are a lot of assumptions, when the only “assumption” one should realistically make is that we don’t know celebrities personally, we don’t know if they may or may not be actually closeted/unlabeled (which is their right!), and we don’t know what may make them uncomfortable while other things may not. The absence of "no" or "stop" isn't equivalent to "yes," nor is it citable as defense for questionable or potentially harmful behavior. Silence isn't blanket approval or consent, nor should it be assumed to be in any situation. Just because celebrities haven’t said in so many words “Please stop doing [this specific thing]” doesn’t mean they are automatically cool with whatever a fandom is doing, such as speculating about them or openly pointing out what they think they know about their sexualities or relationships. This includes posts on the wider timeline, or tweets and Instagram comments @ celebrities themselves filled with references or assumptions about their lives that are very not okay.

Even with something like Brie Larson’s situation... A celebrity making a joke or acting a certain way in one environment where they may feel comfortable or more relaxed–like a Youtube video, or a convention with fans, or anything else–does not mean that that celebrity expects or wants worldwide eyes on their behavior. And worldwide attention is what is always at risk on platforms like Twitter or Instagram. 

Ultimately, overanalyzing and calling attention to people’s actions is how people who are allies can be made to feel awkward, or how people who are queer get outed or forced into labels. I literally live in fear of the day when some random journalist starts poking around specific fandoms/celebrities, connects the dots that are out there and are seemingly easy to connect, and then somehow makes their sexuality a topic of interviews. Once it becomes a Topic, it becomes nearly unavoidable for them. That’s what happened to Lee Pace; it’s how many people are forced to come out. At all times, queer celebrities are a stone’s throw away from having to deal with all of that in ways no one should, especially as they get more famous. If you care about any celebrity you like to talk about, or if you care about the privacy of real people at all in the ways you should (especially potentially queer people), this should be a point of concern for you.

So, in conclusion: be mindful. If you must talk about celebrities’ lives on something like Twitter, do it without using their actual names to avoid keywords, because they trend at the drop of a hat out of nowhere and that can ruin lives. Avoid deliberate repetition in your phrases because that’s how accidental trends are made. And, better yet, honestly? Consider just keeping that kind of talk to Tumblr/AO3, and preferably to personal private messages. 

Your ability to fangirl/squee/celebrate a real person’s life is not more important than their right to privacy. Ever. This is not a petty topic and it is not “fandom policing” to say things like this out of concern. Acting from an abundance of caution is always the better way to go, because you lose nothing by being extra vigilant; the alternative of not being cautious enough comes with a high risk of negative consequence.

If we all just operate under the knowledge that talking about real people can translate to real consequences for real lives, and act with an abundance of respect/caution accordingly, then there will be nothing to worry about. And celebrities will get to live their private lives and (if this is applicable) be the authors of their own coming out journeys as they see fit, which is a right everyone should have.

From the bottom of my heart: just use both your empathy and your brain cells, please.

Hello, sorry to bother you but I've been trying to catch up on the spn drama after being outside of the fanom for years now. I used to post my wincest fics here on tumblr but got so many death threats I eventually left the fandom all together. Randomly coming across one of your posts made me feel good knowing that there are people in the fandom now with a brain and out of curiosity decided to try and play catch up. One thing I'm curious about is what are the bad things Misha has done? I don't doubt he is scummy and scamming his fans i just don't keep up with any of the actors anymore and back in my day you only ever saw the most nisha asslicking ever around here so I'm curious to know what he's actually done since obviously the majority of the fandom isn't going to point out anything bad their overlord does

It doesn't have literally everything and opinions may vary on some of it, but I think it's overall a fairly good overview of the types of things he's done that are questionable. For instance, I don't think most of the cringe-y jokes are that bad in and of themselves, it's that the minions think they're funny or at least don't get offended by them - but then chafe themselves raw wanking about anything half as bad that either J says.

I'd say the main highlights are his "charity" projects donating an unspecified portion of profits or a bare basic 10%, having an ownership stake in Stands and them outright lying about it, making bitter digs at J2 because he's an entitled idiot who thought one supporting CW role should entitle him to get roles handed to him without auditioning, talking derisively about caring about acting as a craft, siccing the minions on anyone like magazine article writers that didn't feature him along with the actual leads, being pretty much the only one consistently doing anything that could rightfully be called queerbaiting - including constantly making pervy remarks about Jensen and lying about Jensen's opinion on the ship, that time he got drunk and fell on his face and made up a story about being mugged, and just generally being kind of skeevy and over-sexualizing everything when too many of his fans are teenage girls.

The day Despair aired. So, Nov 5? Lol

It was an accident. I was so overcome with emotion after Cas died that I came to tumblr for Destiel because I knew the fandom was big here and I could find people to commiserate with.

And I found the posts and stuff to help me with that.

But... in searching Destiel, I also got cockles.

At first I was confused and like what?

I laughed and read a couple posts about it. Brushed it off and thought it was weird.

Then I found a post about how in 2013 Misha had accidentally tweeted the cockles love story post - but never deleted it.

There was a link to that post. And by the time I was done reading it, I had dipped my toes into the dumpster that is the cockles dumpster mansion... Then I read something about how Misha’s mom had come up with the cockles mansion thing (or something like that) for GISH.

But then... then I had to dig around and look for myself. I’m an analytical person and needed to see things for myself and figure it out on my own.

I watched some gif sets people posted along with their thoughts and little video snippets. But I knew things could be taken out of context or manipulated to show what you want people to see.

I reblogged some stuff because they were cute and it made me go aww. But I still wasn’t buying it that they were a couple.

So I decided to watch the con videos myself, which is mostly from JIB for cockles only. But there were a few all cast panels I watched too.

And whoa... yeah. I’d watched a few all cast panels in the past when I’d gone through my Mark Sheppard is gorgeous and I need to consume everything he’s ever appeared in, and thanks for that Mark because you’re what finally made me watch doctor who and I loved it phase. Don’t get me wrong. I’m still absolutely enamored with Mark, but I’ve seen almost everything he’s done now lol.

But the point is, I watched some of those panels and saw the Misha and Jensen goofing but I wasn’t focused on it. I was mostly paying attention to how the others were with Mark. Because he’d been my fascination at the time lol.

But then I watched Jensen. And I watched Misha. And I watched Jared. Together.

And the difference in how they acted towards each other was obvious.

Watching the panels, it really didn’t take long to see there was something there. Jensen has always come off as kind of quiet and reserved. But put him with Misha... and he was acting all cutesy and flirty (and also annoyed) like I do with my husband.

By the time I got to jib...4? The one with the paper airplane, I was like maybe.

I forget exactly what it was that sold me. But it didn’t take long. It was maybe 20-30 min of tumblr that had me convinced enough that I needed to look at things myself and figure it out.

But I knew in the past Jensen didn’t like talking about Destiel. But watching him with Misha at JIB, I had no idea how that Jensen and the no-Destiel Jensen were the same person.

Then, I also discovered Nesnej. lol.

But the heart eyes and the social media comments and the almost confirmations from cast mates - plus all of the JARED KNOWS content. He is truly being the little brother who has a secret and isn’t saying anything, but also isn’t not saying anything. And plans to keep making fun of them and saying as much as he thinks he can get away with, without actually saying they’re together.

2019... that was just a year for cockles content. And I’m working on this whole timeline theory thing, of how with the show about to be over, Jensen just stopped giving a fuck and literally said “let the world know, for all I care.”

The thing is, Scott clearly loves interacting with fandom. He said it himself- one of his favourite things about Twitter was interacting with fans and seeing fanart. And that he missed being able to do that after MCC 14. So it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that he's actively engaging in the Tumblr empires fandom (and 3rd life too); the 3rd lifers would send each other fanart and animatics all the time, and Scott seemingly tells his friends about the empiresblr antics he finds funny.

If Scott genuinely had a problem with something or was uncomfortable, he would just block and move on, like he actively advocates for this policy himself in his August 1st stream. He knows how to navigate the internet, you don't have to worry over him being uncomfortable because if he was, he'd stop engaging with it.

And it's perfectly valid to freak out when Scott mentions fandom stuff, because imo it's like you're hanging out with a group of friends- you're going to act differently when it's just you guys and when a teacher walks by. But the thing is, the second you post anything on the internet, the second that fic leaves your Google drive or you share that art on discord or in the main tags, there is a chance other people will see it, right, and in a fandom based on other internet users, the chance is decently high that they'll see stuff too! And the thing with public discord servers is that anyone can join- Ranboo's public server has 430k people. Michelle Obama could be there and you wouldn't know unless she posted a selfie. With a smaller fandom like Empires, there's going to be less people, but that doesn't change the fact anyone could theoretically join- if Michelle Obama was a big Ldshadowlady enjoyer there's nothing stopping her from hopping into one of the various empires servers.

And when we joke about how much better Tumblr is than Twitter and pspspspssps the ccs over, especially the ccs who had a bad time on twt, well, we shouldn't be surprised to find that a) they at least look through the tags and b) that they like it here. I think the thing is we all got so used to the idea of no one knowing about Tumblr, constantly talking about how no one realizes we're here or saying that the site is dead, that we forgot it is still very much an active and public site that anyone can visit. This is not a private discord server- Tumblr is literally the original blue hellsite and biggest fandom space online.

Yes fandoms are for fans first, which means this is our turf, the ccs don't decide what we can and can't do, the fan content is removed from them, but they also have the right to check out this fan content themselves. Same thing as Misha Collins tweeting about destiel hitting the big number in ao3 fics, something he'd only know if he looked at fandom. If Scott sticks his head in here and goes "wow you guys are hilarious I'm gonna stick around" he can! And he can curate his own experience the same way we tell everyone to do. Scott being here ultimately means nothing and changes nothing- and this is going to sound a bit mean I know, but if you don't feel comfortable posting things with the knowledge he could see it, then I have bad news for you: he could always see it, he's just being more transparent about it now. Anyone can see what you post online, Scott is not invading your personal space here, we are in public and anyone can see everything, so if this knowledge of his presence changes what you post, then you probably weren't posting with this idea in mind in the first place.

Personally, I think we have nothing to worry about as a group, and that if Scott (or anyone else) wants to vibe on Tumblr or in a public discord than he can. Anything to get the ccs off Twitter <3

Second, I'm sending this to you because you seem an expert in fandom dynamics. So according to you why the SPN shippers on Tumblr are politically polarized? I've noticed most of the Destiellers and Misha fans are very progressive, left-leaning or leftist, so much that some misha fans are getting over him because they see him as too moderate. While among Wincesties, bibros and JarPad fans there are some big blogs that are openly conservative, with some strong leaning into alt-right rhetorics, white supremacism, homophobia, anti-feminism, Putin unironic loving, TERF bs, etc Why? Intuitively I'd say a slash shipper isn't anti-gay so they have to be progressive in a way, but Wincesties ship a slash ship too. Besides, a queer or queer-friendly person hasn't to like every slash ship in the world, so it's legit to be queer or queer-friendly and anti-Destiel. Is it only because of Misha? His political exposure attracted liberal and leftist folks and conservative ones went on the other side out of spite? When it comes down to it, SPN was a show Pedowitz loved to brag about having a split demographic of red/blue (though what counted as that wasn't true 50-50, it has to do with TV watching demographics which is a bit trickier). Summarily, more Red voters watched SPN than other non-reality/news shows, which tends to be where Red viewers watch. It also expressed a heavily white, non-urban demographic (that is to say, while it's heavily viewed in cities, it also is unusually high in rural areas.)

This was part of the balancing act Pedo and CW pulled with SPN and why progress was like kicking water uphill.

misha was always openly more progressive, and yes, associated with an authentic queer ship. Not to stereotype, but incest and the like is considered "passable" in predominantly red, conservative areas. Like. That's why there's jokes about Alabama, Mississippi etc. Like it's just known. Incest thrives in conservative areas, for whatever fucked up social reason.

So you take the base of this show trying to appeal to both sides. You add in some weirdos that legit get off on incest and inevitably have red-skewed views. You get others in their lanes accepting them (all ships ok, or swallowing it for access to content, etc) without saying anything, so that anchors, then boom. In comes a non-incest ship that has actual chemistry too and isn't just... IDK. Warping very common fraternal displays of affection for a kink. Some of these people LEGIT ARGUED like "well incest is legal in state, state, and country! So it's OK!" and none of their people went OK WOW YOU ARE LEAVING THE REALM OF FANFIC WTF they just let it slide. And all their other views with it.

Add in Misha's blue lean and yeah, of course, progressives by and large flock that way. In the other lane you have people that SIGNAL as being progressive, like kelios RTing progressive candidates, but then turning around and unwittingly using nothing but a pile of alt right dog whistles in their dialogue--because they've accepted it in their lane in the name of trying to enter a ship war there's no competition in. It's normalized, to the point they don't even perceive it. So no, I don't really feel any pity for them either. They chose that. They could have stepped out, or could have called out, or could have acted for 15 years but they just let it become the norm. Hi! You don’t have to actually post this if you don’t want to, since I’m going to be talking about a specific blog. I would have come off anon and dmed you, but my dm’s are currently broken. (Thanks tumblr 🙄) You’ve mentioned that you haven’t noticed any supposed pro cockles blogs posting negative things about Jensen, so I was curious if you followed or were familiar with xxxxx? They’re kind of a perfect example of that. They’re a Misha loving blog who claims to be pro cockles, but they frequently post snide comments about Jensen. I initially followed them because I like the amount of Misha content they post, but I’m on the verge of unfollowing or blocking them, as I’m not sure I can take the Jensen bashing anymore. At first I just thought that maybe they didn’t realize how some of their more vague comments come across, but their comments have become less vague and it’s too consistent of behavior for it to be a mistake. It honestly confuses me, because I don’t understand how someone can claim they like cockles while at the same time seemingly strongly disliking half of the ship. It’s weird.

I decided to just post this ask like this so I could remove the name of the blog because I have something to say and I didn't want to bash them.

Look, one thing I know about people is that no one loves two people the same. It's humanly impossible to love people or things equally. That being said, I think in this fandom there's a level of standom that scares me. I mean yeah I can love Jensen but it doesn't mean that if I don't like someone else that he is friends with I should send that person hate. For instance, I don't know if you were here you during the j2 fallout, there was war, sides were chosen, lines were drawn, Jensen got the blunt end of the knife for something that could've been sorted out privately and here we are. Anyway, the preceding sentence is neither here nor there but from that experience I learned that some people use Jensen as a means to an end. As another anon put it, he's always in the middle. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't so he loses the battle even before the war begins.

For cockles I have honestly never seen it happen, yeah I know some people who ship cockles are Misha stans and others are Jensen stans but I speak for myself and the blogs that I follow. From what I have seen, no matter who those blogs stan, they seem to love both Jensen and Misha.

As for the said blog, if they post such comments I have never seen them because I rarely look at my comments or my notifications because they are usually a mess. The other thing is— and I don't mean to disparage you because I know if I saw such comments I wouldn't be happy either—they are within their right to post whatever they want on their blog but if they ever came to my blog with such comments they would definitely get the chop off my follow list.

I just feel like such people don't like Jensen because of his stance on destiel —I have addressed why he might act like that about it before. It's disconcerting because I don't think that Jensen's views on destiel have any bearing on cockles tbh. In the least, he has said Misha is one of his best friends and his pebble so I don't think one thing—destiel— has anything to do with the other—cockles— and I think that's where the disconnect happens for such people.

Anyone who is not driven by malice or their own agendas or propaganda can see how much Jensen loves Misha — platonic or otherwise— and although people who ship cockles and appreciate his love for Misha, they can't reconcile his love for Misha IRL and his views about Dean and Cas and that's where standom blurs the lines and you find such shippers end up hating one half of the ship—which doesn't make much sense tbh.

Luckily for me, I've never seen such comments on my dash because everyone I follow loves them both and no matter whom they stan, they understand that Jensen or Misha's views on the dean/cas relationship may vary but that shouldn't affect their relationship in whatever capacity.

The only piece of advice I can give you is that if you strongly feel someone makes you uncomfortable here, just unfollow them or block them because at the end of the day, this is the internet and you don't owe anyone anything. You deserve to open your blog and see the content you want to see and you never have to see anything that doesn't please you.

As for your questions!

1. I really don't keep up with the spn actors at all, so I'm afraid I'm not the best person to ask about this. But I know Rachel has been making Twitter posts recently, and I asked @inkbleeder, who follows her on Twitter, and they said that Rachel's been doing fine lately; she hasn't been going to cons because her MS has left her immunocompromised, but she's okay and still very involved in Misha's charity Random Acts.

2. This is such a good question! I've really enjoyed pondering over my answer to it all day, and I think my answer is I want Cas and Jack to explore Heaven together. Cas hasn't been accepted into Heaven for a very long time, and I'd love to see Cas go for a nature walk with Jack and show them all the places that make him nostalgic for his childhood, back before Lucifer fell and Heaven was irreparably changed. Cas would take Jack to see all the animals native to Heaven that he kept as pets when he was younger, he'd pick flowers and make flower crowns with them and interlace them between the feathers of Jack's wings, stuff like that.

I also have this headcanon that I haven't talked about on Tumblr much, but here's an explanation of the hc from a fic I wrote on ao3:

In Heaven, angels had eyries: nests where an angel grew up and could return to when they were injured or in moult. Angels had a process of marking an eyrie as their own. An angel could take their Grace and carve into the very fabric of Heaven with it. The custom in Heaven was to engrave one’s eyrie with important things and events in one’s life: a description of the angel’s first flight, the names of God and other angels one held dear, an angel’s first victory in battle-- everything that had worked to shape you into the angel you were, anything that held any significance to you would be engraved into Heaven with your Grace. With a living piece of yourself.

Basically, angels write out everything that makes them happy in their eyries, or homes, and being surrounded by all these happy memories is supposed to lend them strength when they retreat to their eyries in times of need, and there's even an intricate ceremony for angels involving the carvings in their eyries after they die.

So, in my head, I may have worked up an emotional scene where Cas finally gets to come back to his eyrie after being banned from Heaven for years. He reads it all out to Jack, telling Jack his whole life story and about all the best, most important memories of his billions-of-years long life and everything he's ever loved (because you just know Cas is secretive af about his past before-- and even after-- he met the Winchesters, and Jack has been dyyying to know); and it had upset Cas greatly that, over the years he's been banished, he hasn't been able to continue honouring everything and everyone that he loves by carving about them in his eyrie, but the first thing Cas writes up there is Jack and Kelly's names.

I saw a post on tumblr where someone said now that Kripke gave J&D the rights, maybe they’re starting with a prequel just to end on a reboot in years time and honestly ? As for the Jensen and J*red thing.

I can see Jensen not telling J*red even if they are still friends, because J*red is kinda good at accidentally telling Secrets. He could have told him right before he announced it so, so that J*red didn't have to find out from twitter. He was on the show for 15 years, he is bound to get asked about it. The public twitter meltdown was really unprofessional so. Like you have Jensen's number J*red. You could have sorted that out in private like a normal person, but instead you choose to act like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

Is it weird that I'm actually going to be kinda that for them if the actually had a falling out, even tho I don't like J*red all that much. They seemed to be really important to each other and while I thought before that the might have triefted apart a bit, I didn't think that the where actively fighting.

the thing is, the polite/normal thing for jensen to do was text him before announcing it on twitter. it's weird he didn't, and that makes me believe that maybe yeah they did have a falling out. especially with the way j*red responded to it on twitter. if he had no other reason to be this upset (no prior beef or falling out) you'd think that he wouldn't be responding like this. on the other hand, the man is a mysterie to me so who the hell knows. i'm not gonna mourn about it if they did/do grow apart because j*red is just.... awful imo.
