Also really quickly, I wanted to mention that usually while the women are at the Henna Night, the men have their own gathering. Sahraa Al Zalame (closest I can translate is "staying up at night/gathering, men") takes place at the grooms home/village, and usually set up outdoors, there's a music singer/group or DJ, sometimes a dancing group is hired, there's sweets and drinks and lots of men just having a great time dancing/socializing. One memory I have is when I spent time on a nearby roof with my girl cousins watching as little boys lit up small fireworks, old men smoked and played cards, hookahs, coffee, sweets, fathers hold their babies & small boys, the young men dancing. The Groom and his friends/family lifting him up in the air. I love seeing how our men are celebrated and made to feel part of the wedding celebration in their own way, and of course the Shaving of the Groom. Days before the Wedding the Groom will stop shaving so he looks unkempt, then on that night they have a barber, or friend/family, who shaves the Groom's beard (sometimes old fashioned razor with the long blade are used sometimes modern ones) as he sits in a chair while others are around him in circle, the singer sings "it's time to shave the groom, he must be (Am Nouweer) lit up/glowing for his wedding, shave the groom, he is the most handsome of men" and other lyrics that often vary from family/region. I find it a very charming tradition that shows how just as the bride is going through her own transition from girl to womanhood, so is the groom transitioning from boy to manhood. Also when the groom's family douses him in shaving cream at the end sometimes its really funny. lol. But yeah Henna Night is exclusively for women, but the Sharaa is for men but sometimes women from the groom's side are in attendance too. It just depends on the family tbh. If the Bride and Groom are from the same village/town then some nights we would be at the Bride's for the Henna then walk over to Groom's house to watch the Sahraa of the men. I miss those summer nights because the feeling of celebration and community was so strong and beautiful. Anyways this is long, but I love our wedding traditions.

What I have not finished yet are the "service" signs -- police, hospitals, banks, etc -- because I have some different meshes in mind for those (I love this mesh but it's definitely got a strip mall/shopping plaza kind of feel, and that seems a little sketchy for a hospital lol). They will be coming in part two!

Guys I basically hate everything I'm making right now, drawing, writing, etc. and it's all taking a million years to make just to be disappointed with the results SO I'm taking an indulgent and stupid break to spit out my thoughts about the FE3H lads' vices of choice (in terms of what they may imbibe to take the edge off). Also I'm tired and doing this super off-the-cuff, so if I forget someone or my takes are shit or w/e... i dunno, mea culpa I guess.

big ol' TW for drug & alcohol use so skip this one if you don't vibe with booze and/or smoking of various types (nothing too hard tho lmao no one's shooting up or anything on this post). As a disclaimer since this whole post might make me seem super pro-drugs lmao: I am into having your vices and letting them help get you through the day to a healthy and controlled extent.

Also, I guess this is sort of modern au?? FE3H's setting is wildly anachronistic, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have things like modern cigarettes, or edibles as we know them. Just. Roll with it ig.

Honestly this was inspired by a guy I used to hook up with before I met my husband who smoked and because of him I briefly developed a pavlovian response where I'd become aroused by the scent of cigarettes so shout-out to you, Dan- hope you're doing good somewhere you dumb, handsome bastard

Vices:

Linhardt- he's open to a lot, as a naturally curious type, but he's particularly fond of hookah. He finds the experience meditative and calming, and it's honestly best if someone keeps an eye out and makes sure he doesn't fall asleep with the coals still burning. But having a pipe in hand while reading on a quiet evening is just unmatched.

Hubert- obviously his canon vice is coffee, which he naturally takes black (at most, perhaps a splash of milk). That said, while he doesn't have an addictive streak, he will have a cigarette here and there when the stress is getting to him and he needs to stay focused. Other than that, he of course will partake in wine when it's expected of him at events, but he doesn't overly enjoy it.

Ferdinand- he enjoys wine both as a social experience, and as a true connoisseur; he's constantly scouting out which sellers have gotten ahold of something rare and exotic, and has no compunctions about paying a good deal of money for a valuable bottle. However, he dramatically overestimates his own alcohol tolerance.

Caspar- pretty much lives completely clean, unless food and over-exercise can be considered vices (which many would say they could). He tried Lin's hookah once and he coughed so much that he wrote off smoking across the board. Totally doesn't get things like "acquired tastes" when it comes to drinks, either- why bother with something you don't like right off the bat?

Dimitri- as a function of growing up at the height of society, he's of course expected to drink socially and know just enough about fine wines and liquors to serve appropriately high-quality drink to guests and dignitaries. However, he's a very dramatic and sad drunk, on the rare occasions he lets himself get that far. Frankly, he should probably just try weed.

Felix- he keeps his vices pretty under control, as lack of control makes him feel on-edge. Similar to Caspar, his 'vice' is more about drowning his anxieties in training and exercise. That said, he'll sometimes nurse a cigarette for a while, mostly to keep his mouth and hands busy- it's a fidgeting habit more than anything.

Sylvain- he's made a conscious effort to familiarize himself with and build a tolerance to just about anything that's consumed socially. Passing a joint, pouring a drink, taking shots, anything that adds to that socially-acceptable party vibes, he's ready to jump on-board. Left to his own preferences though, he likes a good whiskey, but like, the softer, smoother ones that go down easy.

Ashe- he doesn't look it, but having grown up in a rough situation and having to rub elbows with some unsavory types, he does have a respectable tolerance for most of your standard substances- though he's mostly only ever taken them to be "polite." But he knows his body and knows to keep alert.

Dedue- can appreciate coffee, but is potently aware of the disadvantages of caffeine addiction, so he keeps it moderate. He can also appreciate hookah, and similarly to Linhardt, finds it to be a soothing and calm activity that doesn't impair his judgement or cognition significantly.

Claude- pretty open minded overall, and is in support of indulging in moderate hedonism as long as it never puts you at a disadvantage. His preferred indulgence is weed, and in particular, he can really enjoy a well made edible. He's very picky about who he imbibes with, however- he doesn't trust just anyone while he may be in a slightly compromised state and more likely to say something he otherwise wouldn't.

Lorenz- he's as much a wine aficionado as any true noble would be, of course, and has memorized all the usual talking-points thereof. He considers it distasteful to become visibly inebriated, however. He also definitely owns a collection of elaborate and expensive tobacco pipes that have almost never been used.

Ignatz- he's fairly clean, and will nurse a single drink throughout an evening in social settings. He's heard that many famous artists have found inspiration in "broadening their minds," but he finds the loss of control intimidating. To be honest though, he also should probably try weed, this is a man with an anxiety disorder if I ever saw one.

Raphael- probably hasn't had many opportunities to get extremely experimental, but he does absolutely love a good beer or ale (or several beers or ales), preferably alongside a hearty meal or vast array of snacks. He considers it just part of enjoying a feast, a perfect accent to the food.

Jeralt- his love of booze is canon, of course, but he is generally open minded about such things and is willing to partake in whatever takes the edge off after a big job. He has decent tolerance, but has a habit of ignoring when he might be pushing a little too far, basically willfully ignoring his own limits.

Seteth- canonically, Nabateans have high alcohol tolerance (if Seteth's mention of it to Manuela is anything to go off of), so I imagine this extends to most foreign substances. That said, he does enjoy the earthy flavor of a well-worn tobacco pipe, and will sometimes unwind with it after a long work day.

Also on a personal note, modern au Seteth in a business suit smoking a cigarette makes horny brain go brrrrrrrrrr

Jeritza- he stays totally clean, as he deeply dislikes the sensation of losing control. He lives with the constant shadow of the thought that any lapse will trigger the Death Knight, and knows he can't risk such a thing outside of the battlefield.

HELL. Not your gran n’ gramp’s Hell, though. This is a sleek, updated, modern Hell that has adapted with the times. Violent torture and hellfire are so oldschool they’re virtually unheard of, and most of the original demonic royalty has since retired. Hell is now about indulging the Sins and strengthening their presence on Earth, rather than punishing mortals for being lead astray. Corruption remains the ultimate name of the game, of course, and Heaven is still in total opposition to Hell's antics.

The opening scene will be in an establishment called The Pearly Gates. TPG is a lavish den of depravity— resembling something between a vintage cabaret club and a traditional hookah lounge... with a dark twist. Captive angels are auctioned here as chattel; possessions to be vied for by the high-ranking demons that patronize The Gates.

⛓ 𓌹♰𓌺 ⛓ The Situation ⛓ 𓌹♰𓌺 ⛓

Only the wealthiest demons are members of this illustrious club. They bid freely on the prisoners while enjoying TPG’s various amenities. M/C - a demon - immediately takes a possessive interest in Y/C - an angel - and outbids his peers for the right to corrupt them.

Most angels in Hell’s possession are already considered Fallen (with some exceptions), but all are extremely pure entities starting out. As their corruption progresses, they begin to exhibit more demonic physical features and traits associated with the primary type of Sin they’re exposed to.

If our characters develop an emotional attachment but Y/C remains extremely resistant to corruption (or appeals to M/C enough to garner his sympathy), M/C may choose to keep Y/C as Fallen but stave off their transformation. I’m much more interested in this route being a romantic storyline rather than just a short stint of pure, raunchy fucking and nothing else, so let me know if you’d like a longer-term engagement and whether it’ll be Corruption-based, Romance-based, or both!

Both are highly sought-after for their clean spirits and unviolated flesh, which is made available at TPG to the highest bidder... to be broken, corrupted, and kept forever in thralldom by whoever obtains them. Gender Headcanon: Soooo so due for a reread on this so a big IF I RECALL CORRECTLY for all of this: but gender & sexuality is intentionally messy in Shade, and shade's own relationship to it is usually defined through traumatic events for him and others iirc. shade is insecure in his masculinity in canon, but seems to staunchly see himself as male, albeit in a defeating way. Id like to see Shade get to experience gender euphoria in a modern comic rather than going back to rejecting all feelings and go super-misogynist or w.e BUT i dont care what gender that ends up being in the end. i use he/him pronouns for him usually

A random headcanon: not necessarily a headcanon, but I think he should vape if he comes back hear me out. i dont like the Vertigo issues of STCM but when he uses/shares a hookah to smoke feelings/thoughts as "poetry" he's made. Should be a vape in a new comic

Character Intro: Agathodaemon (Kingdom of Ichor)

Nicknames- Daemon by the others

Dad by his son

Age- 47 (immortal)

Location- Crete, Olympius

Personality- He's a true oenophile; someone who loves & appreciates wine in the strict traditions of consumption and reverie. He's also open minded, passionate, and appreciates the finer things in life. He's currently dating.

He has the standard abilities of a god except shapeshifting. As the god of vineyards, grainfields, & luck his other powers/abilities include limited vitakinesis (healing), being able to temporarily grant someone with luck (that lasts 24 hours), limited chlorokinesis (as it pertains to vine plants), having an innate knowledge of agriculture & plants, and limited alcokinesis.

Daemon used to be married to Elais (goddess of oil). They share a child, a son Komos (god of revelry). Even though their divorce was a bit contentious, lately they've been working towards being cordial and establishing a friendship.

He lives by himself in the state of Crete in a breathtaking Mediterraean style mansion just a few miles away from his own vineyard & winery! There's a large rock lined pool and hot tub & inside there are many decorative fruits, paintings, natural stone walls, rattan and cotton furniture pieces, & terracotta pottery pieces. He owns a few horses, a vacation cottage in Santorini, and a yacht called the Carpe Diem. He also travels often to the states of Olympia (to see his girlfriend) & New Olympus (to see his son).

Every morning Daemon rides on horseback to his vineyard to check on the vines.

He's the second largest producer/manufacturer of wine & other alcoholic beverages after Dionysus (god of wine). They have a playful rivalry and friendly rapport with each other, especially since the wild prince was his son's mentor. Daemon's other business is a wine bar/smoking room called Ygró Veloúdo, where the customers can also partake in hookah smoking. With an official website and glowing reviews in The Oracle, Modern Olympus magazine, & Kalí Órexi- the culinary magazine owned by Deipneus (god of cooking & breadmaking), there are plans for other establishments in Santorini, Olympia, as well as the Mania & Skyline neighborhoods of New Olympus.

A go-to thing Daemon likes to make & eat for breakfast is eggs florentine with smoked salmon and garlic home fries, usually topping it off with a glass of champagne. He also likes toasted kalamata olive bagels topped with caviar butter and aloo paratha.

His favorite drink of course is wine. From the rich savory reds of merlot, pinot noir, & shiraz to the crisp fruity whites of chardonnay, pinot gris, & sauvignon blanc, always following the 5 S's of wine tasting- see, swirl, sniff, sip, and savor. He also likes classic martins, bellins, bourbon whiskey, & rum. His least favorite alcoholic drink is beer. His go-to coffee drink is a cappuccino. Daemon's own signature wine (that's a bestseller) is a sparkling vanilla blackberry.

Some of his favorite desserts include the vanilla-sparkling wine pound cake, vanilla & white wine poached pears, and rum cake (topped with dark chocolate buttercream frosting).

In the pantheon Daemon's friends with Favian (god of philosphy), Apólafsi (god of enjoyment), Karme (demi-goddess of the harvest) as well as her brother Karmanor (demi-god of the harvest), Evimería (goddess of prosperity), Priapus (god of fertility, vegetable gardens, livestock, sexuality, & masculinity) as well as his wife Philotes (goddess of sex, friendship, & affection), Litismós (goddess of culture), Demeter (goddess of the harvest & agriculture), The Nesoi (sister island goddesses), Sponde (goddess of libations), Hyperion (Titan god of heavenly light), & Pan (god of the wild, satyrs, shepherds, and rustic music). He was the official mentor to Keraon (god of baking & wine mixing).

Daemon still keeps in touch with his former sisters-in-law.

His all time favorite frozen treat is the Cocktails on Ice chocolate cherry merlot wine ice cream!

Daemon's currently dating Panigýri (goddess of festivals). They first met at Hyperion's yacht party in Rhodes where they had an animated debate with Favian on the topic of illicit drugs. When the party was over, the two of them ended up exchanging numbers. Their first "date" was a few weeks later- an outdoor ritualistic dance party with a few of her maenad friends. Panigýri kissed a lotus tile into Daemon's mouth and he ended up having one of the trippiest moments of his life! In the morning (and still a bit high), they went cliff diving naked. Daemon appreciates her fearlessness & confidence. The fact that lovemaking with her has been his best ever is also a bonus!

With his role as a father, he's come to enjoy the friendship he has built with his son. When they're together they'll often go horseback riding, surfing, & play video games. For his birthday his son gave him a black leather jacket (the back of course he bejweled) which Daemon didn't seem to mind.

A guilty pleasure of his are savory beef patties. There's a small restaurant near the end of Crete that are well known for them.

He loves snacking on a trial mix of raisins, salted cashews, and swiss & mozzarella cheeses. He also likes wine gummy bears his girlfriend introduced him to!

Daemon is known to host barbecues at his place inviting family & good friends. Food served there include beef & lamb souvlaki skewers, pita bread (with tzatziki dipping sauce), juicy sirloin burgers stuffed with feta cheese, falafel, watermelon feta salad, paidakia with roasted potatoes, and keftedes. Afterwards, they even roast marshmallows & make s'mores!

He and Panigýri recently partook in a UV body painting couples class along with Kéfi & her fiance Psionikós (god of the mind).

His favorite meals include stuffed lobster rolls, one pan chicken au champagne and rice (added with mushrooms), and slow cooker red wine pot roast.

In his free time Daemon enjoys sailing, jet skiing, surfing, horseback riding, gardening, cooking, football (soccer), painting, working out, sunbathing, swimming, golf, & tennis.

For art purpose- what color is Az’s skin? I know he was described as golden brown. Is he golden brown like middle eastern, Arabian perhaps? I live in the heart of Middle Eastern community in LA where hookah lounge is in every corner. Most of my friends are middle easterns and they identified themselves as golden brown… They look like olive tan to me but I want to be right on this. Can you give me a couple celebrity names as an example? That would be super helpful. :) Thanks!

I don't like lumping everyone together in the middle east, though I do think that might have modelled Illyrians after the Ottomans (modern day Turkey) or maybe Persians (modern day Iran) or maybe even ancient Romans or Greeks. I think that they are an amalgamation of lots of ancient militaristic societies.

To me personally, the Illyrians as a society most resemble the Spartans. Though Spartan women had rights which weren't enjoyed by other females in other societies.

So definitely think Southern Mediterranean.

I think the Illyrians are clearly darker than the Archerons.

I have an ongoing argument with my Turkish friend about the merits of Can Yaman as Cassian. She says he is a bad actor and ugly, and to me he is the ultimate Cassian. Go figure!

Here are 5 things you must do to get a taste of Dubai’s nightlife:

Driving down Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, a long eight-lane road that was lit up and busy with traffic even at two in the morning. The designer facades of the tall buildings on either side of the street reflected light. In no other place did I feel as safe returning home at 4 a.m. as I did when a student in Dubai, where I frequently spent the evenings discovering the city's clubs and hangout spots. The nature of Dubai's nights is so distinct from that of Dubai's days that it seems like a completely separate city. One has to get an emirates visa for Nigerian citizens before they can enjoy Dubai’s nightlife. 

1.  Go Club-Hopping

Dubai's club scene is extremely amazing and draws tourists from all over the world. Every type of nightclub can be found across the city, from opulent to edgy, so on Friday nights, you have a tonne of options! Large screens for game nights are available at Barasti (Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort), Chi@The Lodge (Al Nasr Leisureland) has a chic atmosphere and fantastic music, Kasbar (Al Sufouh Road) is a hip spot with authentic Arabic décor, and Nasimi Beach (Atlantis) offers a breathtaking view of Atlantis as a backdrop.

2. Order Late-night Shawarma

Without a Shawarma run at midnight, no trip to Dubai is truly complete. Lebanese eateries that serve this delectable pork wrap in the early hours of the morning are the spots that are bustling with the most bustle after midnight. Near the sidewalk, where the waiters collect orders from cars, many people will halt their vehicles. Aroos Damascus and Al Shami Restaurant (Al Muraqqabat Road, Deira), Al Mallah (Satwa), and Reem al Bawadi (Jumeirah Road), among others, are the greatest locations for late-night Shawarma.

3.   Drive Through the City by Night

Given the excellent roads, street lighting, and well-organized traffic, driving in Dubai is a delight. Driving at night is a fantastic treat since there is less traffic, better music playing on the radio, lovely roads to go on, and a glittering city to admire. Al Mamzar, where a creek separates Dubai from Sharjah and a lovely Corniche (promenade) draws people for leisurely after-dinner strolls, is my favorite location for a long drive. You can find Filli Café directly across from this bustling location, where you can finish off your late-night trip with a cup of traditional masala chai. highly advisable

4.   Walk along the Marina

Dubai Marina is a waterfront surrounded by speedboats, luxury yachts, and boats in the more modern area of the city. Families, couples, and friends enjoy the lights from the high towers as they are exquisitely mirrored on the crystal-clear seas as they stroll along the walkway, where European-style cafes are bustling with activity all night. This is a really beautiful way to experience Dubai's nightlife.

5.   Take a Puff of Sheesha at a Lounge

What would a trip to Dubai be without a sheesha cigarette? Many people still like evenings at quieter sheesha lounges, which typically have multiple screens showing live football or cricket matches, despite Dubai's reputation for having exciting nightclubs and a fantastic food and beverage scene. In addition, they frequently include lounge chairs, pool tables, board games, and video games for a laid-back evening with friends. And of course, sheesha—or hookah, as it is more widely known—in a huge variety of tastes and sizes! This is a typical Dubai night out and is a lot of fun, especially with friends!

In Dubai, the weekend is Friday and Saturday—not Sunday!

Tuesdays or Wednesdays are often designated as Lady's Nights in clubs and pubs. To get the best deal, schedule your girls' nights out on these days.

The Dubai government is very tough about drinking and driving, and on the weekends there are many checkpoints to catch drunk drivers and severely punish them. Since taxis are often available close to popular nightlife areas, returning home is both safe and simple.

In Dubai, the drinking age is 21, in Abu Dhabi, it is 18, and it is forbidden in Sharjah.

Drinking is not permitted in undesignated or unlicensed areas and those who do so face harsh penalties.

Apply emirates visa for Nigeria nationals to enjoy all the tourist places and attractions in Dubai. 

In Dubai, there is something to do every single hour of the day or night. What are you still holding out for? Let your hair down and take full advantage of Dubai's vibrant nightlife and for this, you have to take an emirates visa for Nigeria passport holders.

07:  Something that makes your character happy

While Mahjarrat have an innate desire for violence, Wahi doesn't really give into it. In fact, if you want to make him happy, give him peace and quiet. He doesn't need to worry, he can finally rest those old bones of his. The sleepy little town of Nardah is the perfect place for him. It's isolated and it's quiet. He has his personal space. He can spend his time drinking, smoking and reading his books.

That's his ideal life. No annoyances, drinking, smoking and reading his life away. After everything he's been through, its the little things that truly bring him happiness.

09:  Something that frightens your character

Not much scares a Mahjarrat, but if you really want to stress him out and create paranoia, make him think he's worthless. Zaros certainly did. He was one of Zaros' Legates, he and his men bled and lost loved ones for the better of the Empire. What did Zaros do? Nothing. Wahi was just a tool to be used and thrown away. His men died for a God that didn't care.

That has stuck with him for well over six thousand years. He's a proud man. He came from nothing and from day 1 has had to prove that he's worth something. So being told that no, he isn't, is that fastest way to kneecap him. Failure and the idea of worthlessness hits hard and he hasn't really found a way to cope with it.

19:  What your character does when they wake up

In modern verses, he tries to live as 'normally' as he can to help blend in. He brushes his ridges to get rid of any trapped dirt, watches the weather channel while he has a hard drink to wake up. He always watches the weather channel, he hasn't figured out how to use the remote yet. He doesn't need to eat, but he does like that really grossly sugary cereal, so he'll munch on that if he's craving chewing on something. He'll read a book or get nostalgic with one of his journals, then get completely blasted on opium for the rest of the day to deal with his chronic pain.

In the Empire, he would go to work in the barracks, train with his men. When it was time to head home, he would go to the bath house and smoke some hookah with the locals then go home and work on his journals. He lives a pretty boring life, but it satisfies him.
