Multiellic!

Multiellic: The exclusive attraction to multigender people. This could be people with any number of genders, or a specific number. If it is a specific number, -ellic or -llic can be added at the end of it (for example, biellic, triellic, quadellic, quintellic, hexallic, septallic, octallic, enneallic, decallic, panellic, omniellic, fluidellic, etc.)

Bigeninic and paninic can be considered alternative names for biellic and panellic.

We (Weniviere & Angel) decided to recoin the orientation "multigenic" and its flag, which we made years ago, because that terminology is used for systems with multiple origins, which we didn't know at the time, and it has bothered us ever since we found out. The -ellic theme is inspired by other tria- microlabels (lunaric, solaric, saturnic, apstellic, neustellic, oustellic, stellaric, and spacialic.)

On the flag, the black represents genderlessness, demigenders, and multiellic people that are aro-spec. Magenta represents feminine genders and sexual attraction. The purplish-pink represents a combination of romantic and sexual attraction. The purple represents androgynous genders and multiellic people that are ace-spec. Brown represents cultural genders and BIPOC people. Orange represents outherine genders and alterous attraction. Yellow represents xenic genders and queerplatonic attraction. Blue represents masculine genders. Green represents neutral genders. White represents fluid/flux genders, attraction, or relationships.

Everyone will talk the big talk about why enben are okay with binary gendered terms, but no one will critically deduce the reasons for why that is such a common thing in the NB community. Because when you are not binary aligned, those terms don't really capture your gender, explain who you are to other people and don't make space for people like us. But they are convenient, everyone knows those terms, and they "work well enough" if you ignore the fact that they are erasing you. They always cause discomfort, discourse, exclusion. So why are they so commonly used by non-binary people even though they do not accurately describe or include us?

Accelerating sustainable semiconductors with 'multielement ink'

Semiconductors are the heart of almost every electronic device. Without semiconductors, our computers would not be able to process and retain data; and LED (light-emitting diode) lightbulbs would lose their ability to shine. But semiconductor manufacturing requires a lot of energy. Forming semiconductor materials from sand (silicon oxide) consumes a significant amount of heat-intensive energy, at scorching temperatures of around 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit. And the process of purifying and assembling all the raw materials that go into making a semiconductor can take weeks if not months. A new semiconducting material called "multielement ink" could make that process significantly less heat-intensive and more sustainable. Developed by researchers from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and UC Berkeley, "multielement ink" is the first "high-entropy" semiconductor that can be processed at low-temperature or room temperature. The breakthrough was recently reported in the journal Nature.

Thistle is so cuddly. She is in my lap right now. She sat with Robin pretty much all day while he was in bed with a migraine. We watched I Saw the TV Glow with 🐦‍⬛ last night (I made a relatively fancy, i.e., multielement, dinner too for the occasion: salmon, couscous with mushrooms, a salad, garlic bread) and at one point she lay fully on her back, belly out, along my stretched-out legs.

I was going to accompany 🦑 to an immunologist appointment today, but they were too ill with post-COVID lung function issues; so ill, in fact, that they went to the ED yesterday and were admitted overnight, so I visited them there this morning instead. We hadn’t been together in person for many days and I appreciated it, despite the bad setting and N95-wearing. D/s in such a situation entailed that I made them eat more breakfast than they would have chosen themself (a sad English muffin as well as a tiny yogurt) and told them to eat lunch too after I left.

Chapter 3  - Aster: In the Mines

Students walk around the main hall inspecting each other’s work. Class went wonderfully today until the professor told us to collect our Displays and find a booth in the main hall. David has the most popular booth. He made a new spell by crossing fireball with cone of cold to create a multistage, multielement spell with a mana efficiency of 4th level. insane shit. some people pass my booth where I have my circuits laid out along with my mana stone that doesn’t work, no one stops to look further. Display was meant to showcase our research to get us a good job outside the university or even more coveted a research position at the university. I have another year to impress someone, but after three years of no promising displays the likelihood I end up another washout hedge wizard is greater than not.

Helen comes up to my booth and takes a look at the pages and mana stone. she’s top of the class in circuitry. she looks at me and I avoid her gaze.

“This won’t work.”

“What do you mean?”

“This layer is a feeder to a layer that will overload from the run off mana.” she points to one of my mistakes in the stone. “Which would have been fine from your original design, but it looks like the work around means you cant use the same run off channel.” She continues to point out the flaws in my work.

“Thanks Helen.”

She smiles the biggest I’ve seen. “Anytime,” and walks away.

I look over what she pointed out and I realize she’s right. The stone won’t work. Rage wells up inside me and I just want to quit, resign myself to the mediocrity I have been destined to. I know I’m not going to be picked this year. at this rate I could work on the circuit for another three years and probably be exactly where I am now. 

 The selection committee comes to my booth, a trio of the Headmaster, Circuitry professor Lioria, and Evocations Professor Fenton. The headmaster nods and the other professor walk on to the next booth.

“Ambitious design.”

“Flawed design.”

“The pursuit of knowledge is a flaw. It is a test of your tenacity to withstand constant failure and setbacks while maintaining the attitude you can learn something new the next time.”

The headmaster looks over the circuit design and the current layout in the stone. he turns the stone around in his hand carefully drinking in each line. “The lines would be difficult for professor Lioria to maintain. try connecting layer 3 with layer 7.” He sets the stone down and continues on.

I pick up the stone and take a look at what he mentioned. it could work.

MIT Engineers Completely Flat Fisheye Lens: “This Isn’t Just Light-Bending — It’s Mind-Bending.”

The single piece of glass produces crisp panoramic images.

To capture panoramic views in a single shot, photographers typically use fisheye lenses — ultra-wide-angle lenses made from multiple pieces of curved glass, which distort incoming light to produce wide, bubble-like images. Their spherical, multipiece design makes fisheye lenses inherently bulky and often costly to produce.

Now engineers at MIT and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell have designed a wide-angle lens that is completely flat. It is the first flat fisheye lens to produce crisp, 180-degree panoramic images. The design is a type of “metalens,” a wafer-thin material patterned with microscopic features that work together to manipulate light in a specific way.

In this case, the new fisheye lens consists of a single flat, millimeter-thin piece of glass covered on one side with tiny structures that precisely scatter incoming light to produce panoramic images, just as a conventional curved, multielement fisheye lens assembly would. The lens works in the infrared part of the spectrum, but the researchers say it could be modified to capture images using visible light as well.
