Idiosyncratic tells the dark story of Calixte Stanhope, a rather callous and bleak but…ordinary enough young man who awoke in this dystopian nightmare after having been pushed in front of an ongoing train while escorting his love home, a faceless and nameless woman he remembers only by her mere existence in this vivid memory.
Rather than opening his eyes to either the pearly gates of heaven or the fiery depths of hell, Calixte found himself in the grand presence of the ominous town of Baltimore where everything from the largest bank to the tiniest coin is made entirely of cardboard and plastic, like the set for a play—mimicking the real thing while not actually being it. One can say, a rip off of everything in our world.
The pompous citizens too, while very friendly and obliging, are just as enigmatic. Soon enough, as Calixte tries to get to the bottom of this bizarre situation, all illusions wear and Calixte is thrown into the deep end of this nightmarish society where it’s horrifically revealed to him after he got into an altercation with a few of the locals that these people just adore violence and brutality, lusting for it so much to the point where its watched on television, discussed fanatically in literature, and any horrid death calls for a grand celebration. In fact, the more irredeemable and atrocious something is, the more the twisted residents of Baltimore revere it like sacred scripture, and the man who proudly encourages and orchestrates this madness is none other than the eccentric mayor, referred to as just “Sedgwick.”
Actors, who are the very unfortunate few like Calixte who wound up in Baltimore, have to routinely partake in abhorrent acts for the public’s sick entertainment otherwise more than just their dignity, humanity, and pride will be torn from them. It’s a horrifying ordeal to most, but a paradise to some of humanity’s greatest degenerates, and that small minority is powerful. Thus leading Calixte to meet people he never would’ve otherwise and creating a fragile alliance that will either make or break this band of not so good lowlifes, all depraved in their own ways but alike in their hunger for freedom and above all, answers.
His thinking, which was initially very practical quickly becomes quixotic as Calixte realizes his dangerous willingness to do anything he must in order to escape the clutches of the Hegemony and Craze and to reunite with the one woman so dear to him.
The man never would’ve thought the madness of this world would stretch far, far beyond just fanaticism for the macabre and glamorization of depravity

Idiosyncratic is actually the result of FIVE years worth of heavy editing, revision, and complete transformation of my earliest drafts of the Idiosyncratic story, even though that was not its original title (not by a long shot). Since seventh grade, i've had my mind deadset on creating my own series and sharing it with the masses--my mother was the one who fueled this dream simply by suggesting that I got into writing even though by then neither of us really knew that I had a talent for it per say. Back then I had yet to get a true taste of the darkness in this world so the plot for Idiosyncratic I did contrive was something that would not only make you cringe into yourself from how sickeningly sappy it was, but it would also bore you half to death from how milquetoast and unremarkable the writing was. I actually don't know if I should exactly consider this the precise foundation of Idiosyncratic given how vastly and jarringly different the plot is now, or if I should just call it the crappy ass grandfather of Idiosyncratic that would awake me from my cringy writing phase and ultimately be scrapped for something better. Regardless, it was 600 freaking plus pages of writing that went straight down the drain. And thank God it did. It was total dog shit no law abiding citizen on this great green grass should ever have the misfortune of reading.

Congrats on the manuscript! Not only have you thought an idea but you executed it to the end, that alone is waaaay more than a lot of people have done.
Have you told us what is it about?
Hope everything goes well with the editors, that their critics are constructive but critics or not never forgett that your work is already a 10/10 doesn't matter what others say
thank you love! It's certainly been a long journey. I actually haven't shared what it is about with you guys since I was worried about legal things given that this story did seem to be one that was 100% something I was pursuing for publishing. I can give you a quick little premise I suppose... just the very first sentence of it for my query letter... nothing to fancy:
Fans of Victoria Aveyard's Red Queen, Sabaa Tahir's Ember in the Ashes, and Sarah J Maas's Throne of Glass will enjoy a Young Adult fantasy filled with twists, turns, and an unwilling heroine thrust into a battle between higher powers, and those with too much power.
I super appreciate your well wishes with the editing process!!! The editor is not really the one I'm scared of since I've gotten very used to feedback as a writer.😅 It's the agents, who guard the gate my book must past through that really scare me. XD

The Story Of Cora (my book)
The story-
Long ago, while about 1,000,000 years ago, humans and Magical Beings lived in harmony. Of course that was before the Salem Witch Trials. When the beings found out how humans felt about magic, they left, making a new dimension called Magica. The beings started to call themselves Magicals, and made a school called Cora to teach the kids
Magicals-
To put it simply, Magicals are magic symbols, from shows, movies, videos, etc. These symbols can be from the reason there was a villain (Tangled flower) to something in the back round that you can barely see. Some Magicals aren’t born but chosen, by the kids that are the symbols of the Fates look at your life as a human and your life as a Magical to see which one is better for the world. The Magicals that are born are the shifters, who can turn into the animal that got assigned. Snake shifters are very rare as the snake clain, mostly the snake king put the word in w@r. Another type that are born, are magic users, who use to be shifters but after the snake w@r couldn’t shift so they used magic to protect themselves
How to be a Magical-
As said before, the fates look at your life as a human and as a Magical, to find out which one is better for the world
School home rooms-
Flowers
Weapons
Objects
Animals (Normally where the shifters are)
Fruits
Our main characters-
Chaniya, the healing flower from tangled
Jasmine, the enchanted rose from beauty and the beast
Mallory know as Mal, the needle from sleeping beauty
Eleanor, the arrow from brave
Amalia, the glass slipper from Cinderella
Isla, the hair clip from Mulan
Side characters(?)-
Royal, a water lilly from the princess and the frog
Zachery, the medal Zeus gave to his son from Hercules
Zoe, the genie lamp from Aladdin
Villains-
Raven, a magic user
Headmaster Kistoff, magic user
Elsa, headmasters daughter, magic user
Zmei, snake shifter/snake king in disguise
Toby, a magical born without magic who took down Raven but died and is still in the school to make sure everything is fine, ghost
Zia, Pocahontas necklace (Disney’s Pocahontas)

As I foray into editing the final five chapters of Book the First, here is an excerpt from my most recently finished chapter tentatively titled The Earthquake:
Instinctively, Alanis placed her hand on the younger child’s back and rubbed with small circular motions, just as she often did for her little brother when he felt sick or scared. Something like a grainy video began to play in her mind: from a seated position on an orange shag rug, she could see sliding glass doors rattling in their frame, the frenzied convulsions of a windchime, a potted plant falling, smashing against the tile floor of a small veranda into a mound of ceramic chunks and dirt, roof tiles slipping down, crashing somewhere out of sight below. Tomás shuddered; the vision ended.
As Alanis’s hand traced soothing circles against his back, Tomás closed his eyes, recalling once when he was very little – before Elena had even been born and long before Abuelita had moved in – feeling the same way he did now. The whole world had seemed to tremble beneath his feet, every cell of his body trembling along with it. His stomach had churned then too. Had he thrown up? He strained to remember. All he could remember with clarity was crying into Miguel’s striped t-shirt until it was over and his mother in her aqua-blue flower maternity dress lamenting a broken planter while she rehung a fallen windchime. How could the dress his mother was wearing be so fresh in his memory when the cause of his terror eluded him?

Book: "I don't know what my mom will do. I just know I'll fight next to you." "Why?" "Because you're my friend, Seaweed Brain."
Show: "You've done more for me in the past few days than my dad's done for me in my entire life. If I have to stick with someone, I—" "Careful. I think you were about to call me your friend."

Dagny and her lovely family
Her and Conrad’s relationship is indeed rather complicated and although outwardly they appear as two very enamored and equally deranged maniacs who complete each other, they pretty much get along as far as it benefits them
The book will further elaborate this dynamic…

it’s very easy to tell the good satires and pastiches from the bad ones because the bad ones are too afraid to live within the form. like if you are doing work with fairy tales and you are refusing to look closer at the underlying logic and unspoken rules of what can seem at first to be a senseless form, you are not going to create meaningful work. to borrow a turn of phrase originally used by maria tatar, if you refuse to enter “the house of fairy tale” as anything more than a gawking tourist, you will miss the particular order to the way the table is set, the rooms that are locked vs the rooms that are simply difficult to enter, the set of the floorboards and the position of the furniture. whatever you build will then be a gilded imitation of how you believe the house of fairy tale ought to look, the table set according to your educated specifications and every door open. there can be no interrogation of themes from a writer who views the form as beneath them!

i love how different percabeth is from different male lead narrated american middle school romances from the romantic point of view. usually, the male lead has a crush on the cold and kind of mean female protagonist cause she's pretty and not like the other girls.....she's pretty and not like the other girls....thats it oops. but annabeth and percy. annabeth fell first. even though she's cold and sassy too, she believed in percy. she saw the good in him and loved him for it. then percy fell. he didnt have to worry about whether annabeth would like a loser like him. yeah, he doubted why annabeth liked him once in a while, but it was a never a question of 'does she?' its healthy. and thats what makes rick riordan one of the best middle school authors ever thank you bye
