I'm sure someone has posted about this already, but I was curious about the book Sister Illuminata wanted to destroy. Long post under the cut.
The book is "The Mirror of Simple Souls" and it is a long poem written by Marguerite Porete around 1300. Porete was an educated woman associated with the beguine movement (a lay religious order), which allowed her more freedom to write and travel than most women of the time had.
The poem is a work of Christian mysticism and deals with "agape," or Divine love. It's unique in a couple of ways, not only because it was authored by a woman. It was in Old French at a time when Latin was the only approved language for religious texts, which was already a strike against her in later investigations. The book was also very popular - until, of course, it was condemned by the church. All existing copies were seized and burned, and circulation of the text was banned.
Marguerite Porete was arrested by inquisitors, likely around 1308 after she gave a copy of her book to a bishop. She was tried before William of Paris, the Inquisitor of France, where she staunchly refused to cooperate with any of the proceedings. She would not recant her views nor commit to stopping circulation of her work. She was burned at the stake for heresy in 1310.
I don’t understand it well, but from what I can wrap my tiny little brain around, the book essentially covers the way to unite one's soul with God, and includes characters like Love, Reason, and the Simple Soul. By giving up reason, she says, the soul can be filled with only Love and achieve oneness with God, transcending earthly troubles. She says a soul that is filled only with God's love has its sinful nature erased and therefore cannot sin - this is likely where the claims of heresy arose.
The text did survive the inquisition, though, and it was circulated anonymously until Porete was identified as the author in the 1940s. It is a foundational text for people studying Christian mysticism and the beguine movement.
(And if you wanted a translation of the above images, here is my own shoddy attempt:
"The soul touched by God and empty of sin in the first state of grace is ascended by the divine graces to the seventh state of grace, the state where it possesses its perfection in full in the land of living by divine enjoyment.
"Love says here:
"O, you active and contemplative, perhaps even annihilated by true love, you who will listen to those wonders of pure love, noble love, uplifted love of the liberated soul, you who are going to listen how the Holy Spirit has set his sails both in it [the soul] as in his ship. I beg of you out of love: listen, with great application, to this subtle understanding that is within you, and with great diligence. Otherwise, for lack of being so disposed, all those who hear this will misunderstand it. Now understand, with humility, a simple example borrowed from mundane love, and apply it equally to divine love.")

Jungian Controversies: Embracing Symbolism in the Psyche
I am endlessly fascinated with the work of Carl Jung. He has made profound contributions to our understanding of the human psyche, and many esteemed scholars have lauded his insights. However, I'm puzzled by the disregard for certain more contentious aspects of his work, including archetypes, cultural universality, gender stereotypes, the Anima/Animus, the shadow and the darker facets of the psyche, spirituality and mysticism, as well as synchronicity and paranormal phenomena. Personally, I'm deeply intrigued by these topics and feel they warrant further exploration. Jung's keen interest in symbolism and its impact on the subconscious suggests to me that these concepts could be approached symbolically or metaphorically, offering a means to delve into uncharted territories of the mind. I believe such an approach can be a potent tool for uncovering aspects of the psyche that have yet to surface into consciousness.
While some may seek to understand these concepts through a strictly logical, left-brained lens, I resonate more with a right-brained perspective that views the world symbolically, interpreting everything around us as representative of our subjective experiences. I tend to convey these symbolic ideas in a manner relevant to our lived reality. Jung's ability to bridge the divide between the left and right hemispheres of the brain is remarkable, but it troubles me to witness the hypocrisy of embracing one aspect of his work while disregarding others.
Tumblr media
"The Red Book" by Carl Jung is a remarkable manuscript chronicling Jung's personal journey of self-exploration and encounter with the unconscious. Through handwritten text and intricate illustrations, Jung delves into his inner psyche using a method he termed active imagination, engaging with archetypal figures and symbols. Divided into sections such as Liber Primus and Liber Secundus, the book delves into themes of psychological duality, individuation, and spirituality. Published posthumously in 2009, "The Red Book" provides profound insights into Jung's inner world and continues to captivate scholars and seekers alike, offering a unique perspective on the depths of the human psyche and the quest for self-understanding.

Unlocking the Ancient Wisdom: Exploring the Mystical World of Runes
Shaina Tranquilino
August 30, 2023
Tumblr media
If you take the time to observe and look around, we are surrounded by ancient symbols and mystical practices. Runes stand out as one of the most fascinating forms of divination and communication. Originating from ancient Germanic and Norse cultures, these enigmatic characters have captivated scholars, historians, and enthusiasts alike for centuries. In this blog post, we will embark on a journey to uncover the secrets behind runes and explore their significance in contemporary society.
What are Runes?
Runes are a system of ancient alphabets used by various Germanic tribes such as the Vikings during the early Middle Ages. These characters were typically inscribed onto stones, wood, or metal objects and carried deep symbolic meanings. Each rune represents a specific sound, but they also hold broader associations with natural elements, gods/goddesses, and various aspects of life.
The Origins of Runes:
The exact origins of runes remain shrouded in mystery. However, many scholars believe that they evolved from older writing systems like Etruscan or Anglo-Saxon scripts. The earliest known runic inscriptions date back to around 150 AD and can be found across Northern Europe.
The Rune Alphabet:
The runic alphabet is known as "Futhark," derived from its first six letters: Fehu (wealth), Uruz (strength), Thurisaz (thorn), Ansuz (divine breath), Raido (journey), and Kaunan (torch). Over time, different versions emerged within different regions, resulting in variations such as Elder Futhark, Younger Futhark, and Anglo-Saxon Futhorc.
Divination with Runes:
One of the primary purposes of runes was divination – seeking insight into future events or guidance in decision-making processes. To perform a rune reading or casting, practitioners would traditionally draw runes from a bag or scatter them on a cloth, interpreting their meanings based on their positions and interactions.
Each rune carries its own unique symbolism, allowing for nuanced interpretations. Some common interpretations include Fehu representing wealth and abundance, Thurisaz symbolizing protection or defense, and Raido signifying journeys or travel.
Runes in Contemporary Society:
Despite being rooted in ancient cultures, runes have not lost their relevance in modern times. Many individuals find solace in exploring the wisdom embedded within these symbols and seek to incorporate them into their spiritual practices. Runes are often utilized for meditation, personal growth, intention-setting rituals, and even as decorative elements in jewelry or artwork.
In popular culture, runes have made appearances in various forms of media such as books, movies (e.g., "The Lord of the Rings"), and video games (e.g., "The Elder Scrolls" series). These depictions have further fueled curiosity about runes among enthusiasts worldwide.
Runes continue to captivate our collective imagination as powerful symbols of ancient wisdom and divination. Whether you approach them from an academic perspective or seek personal connection through spirituality, exploring the world of runes can be a transformative experience. As we unravel the secrets behind these enigmatic characters, let us honour the knowledge they carry by embracing their lessons with reverence and respect.

"MATA DARSHAN": A short ode to Maa Kali
Tumblr media
In a dream,
Maa said to me: "Come my child, towards Me!"
The spirit flew and came into Your abode
All was pitch black, and I came looking for You
Until I saw a Flame burning fiercely in the midst of the darkness "Come, my child, I am the Flame. I desire to let you be consumed!"
Like a moth enamored by the scintillation, This Jiva threw itself in the midst of the pyre. Everything crumbled into ashes, Pulverized by that ravening Fire. None was left, Save Your eyes which twinkled in the bosom of the Void.
"You are watched", said Maa "I have watched", said Maa "And I will continually watch You!" said Maa.

My favorite character, in any media, has always been what I describe as the sad boy with daddy issues that either is gay or uses humor as a coping mechanism, I've known this since like middle school, it's not a surprise
However, I've only ever had.... Non platonic attraction (because idfk what's romantic and what's not anymore) for genderqueer/nonbinary arospec acespec definitely neurodivergent and somewhat autistic people with daddy issues since like... Elementary school when I thought I was straight
... I've had the thought that my favorite character type has always just been me but as a guy, but then my nonplatonic interests are literally just... Me in a different font?? Idk wtf that says about me, but it probably says something and uhh yeah don't know how to unpack all of that

How would Yoosung feel about MC meeting his sister for the first time and they becomereally close? I honestly forgot she existed for a while... do we really know anything about her?
... Do we know anything about her??? I totally forgot about her, to be honest. OOPS. It's been a while since I've played Yoosung's route.
Hmm, I imagine he isn't too close to her, considering he doesn't talk about her much. He spends much more time talking about Rika, how she was so inspirational for him, how he went to SKY because she encouraged him, etc. Either his sister is a lot older/younger and so they didn't really grow up together, or he just... didn't have a good relationship with her.
He might be a little startled at first, probably even wondering how MC met his sister in the first place! If he isn't close to her because they have a big age gap, maybe Yoosung would take this as motivation to get to know his sister better, too. If MC likes her, then... she has to be a good person! Because MC is a good person! But if the reason we don't hear about her is because she and Yoosung had a falling out... He'd probably try to tell MC about that situation. At the beginning of Yoosung's route, he probably would have run away from any tough conversations, but he matures a lot and wants to be seen as a man, so he'd be more willing to do difficult things to prove himself and to grow.
The one thing I can say for sure is that Yoosung would be impressed with MC. He'd be touched that MC went to the trouble of trying to get to know his family, because MC loves him so much. He'd probably cry about it, but only in private! He needs to be a big, tough man, after all!

It’s coming back soon !!
As you have probably noticed, 2022 wasn’t the year for Hidden insights so far... Because it wasn’t easy for me IRL. I have had many issues over the past months and this summer was very hard (crazy busy at work, finding a flat was a nightmare and the scorching heat made it all even more atrocious). So after month of near homelessness, I have FINALLY settled and I am slowly finding a new stability.
Which means that I was able to resume Albany’s Veil !! Two new pages this week, YESS !
Thank you all for your patience and stay tuned ! Sam out.

"Beyond the Veil: Illuminating 'The Human Aura' by Swami Panchadasi (William Walker Atkinson)"
Tumblr media
Swami Panchadasi, the pseudonym for the prolific William Walker Atkinson, beckons readers into the ethereal realm of metaphysics and mysticism with his profound work, "The Human Aura: Astral Colors and Thought Forms." This timeless exploration of the invisible energies that surround and emanate from the human body offers a captivating journey into the esoteric dimensions of our existence. The title alone hints at the unveiling of the unseen, promising a rich tapestry of insights into the intricacies of the human aura.
Atkinson's expertise in the realms of mysticism and the occult is evident as he guides readers through the subtle yet profound aspects of the human aura. The aura, believed to be an electromagnetic field that encapsulates the physical body, is described in vivid detail by Panchadasi. The astral colors and thought forms, according to his teachings, provide a visual representation of an individual's emotional, mental, and spiritual state.
The language employed by Panchadasi is both accessible and poetic, allowing readers to grasp the complexities of metaphysical concepts without feeling overwhelmed. The intricacies of astral colors, thought vibrations, and the interplay between the physical and spiritual realms are presented in a manner that invites contemplation and introspection.
One of the notable strengths of "The Human Aura" is its practical approach. Panchadasi not only describes the theory behind the human aura but also provides exercises and techniques for readers to develop their own sensitivity to these subtle energies. The inclusion of practical applications enhances the book's value, allowing readers to engage with the material on a personal level.
The title characterizes the human aura as a dynamic canvas that reflects the inner workings of the mind and spirit. Panchadasi introduces readers to the idea that thoughts and emotions are not mere intangible concepts but possess a tangible existence in the form of vibrant colors within the aura. This perspective encourages individuals to become more attuned to their inner states and, subsequently, take charge of their spiritual and mental well-being.
However, it is essential to approach Panchadasi's work with an open mind, recognizing that the exploration of the aura and thought forms is rooted in esoteric traditions. The book delves into areas that might challenge conventional beliefs, urging readers to broaden their perspectives on the nature of reality and the interconnectedness of the physical and metaphysical realms.
In conclusion, "The Human Aura: Astral Colors and Thought Forms" by Swami Panchadasi, alias William Walker Atkinson, is a captivating odyssey into the unseen dimensions of human existence. The title, with its promise of exploring astral colors and thought forms, encapsulates the essence of the work. Panchadasi's eloquent prose, coupled with practical exercises, invites readers to embark on a personal journey of self-discovery and heightened awareness. As one delves into the pages of this mystical masterpiece, the invisible threads of the human aura are unraveled, revealing a world that transcends the limits of the physical and invites us to contemplate the boundless potential of the human spirit.

I feel so bad for the MC version of myself and also I feel like I'm not belong in Mystic Messenger community because..
I don't ship myself (MC) with anyone in Mystic Messenger. 🥲 I just like seeing the MC befriending everyone without being in relationship. I'm more interested into the backstory of Saeyoung and Saeran, a peak of childhood memories between Jumin and V, the backstory of V's loving and caring mother, Zen's broken family, even with Yoosung and Rika.
Sure I scream and squeal a lot during the game, but I can't see MC (myself) with anyone. 🥲 Ahh...
I hope, I can't be the one. Honestly, During V's route, the backstory of his mother is so underrated. I like it all. It's so beautifully created. Her mom's words and warmth got into me, I lost of my breath and crying. She loves V so dearly, her child. I could never not crying when it's come to family matter. That's why Saeyoung and Saeran story ruined me 😭.

PSALMS 147:13
“For he has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessed your children within you.”
We’ll skip all the mystical steps in arriving at the Gates of Splendor for now. Just suffice it to say that our heart spaces are where we come into Union with God and others.
Years of shadow work, years of healing the inner child all came to a head in Confession last week. Not the typical type of “Forgive me Father for I have sinned” we think of but a deeply mystical meditation with my priest as we walked through traumas. I say we because after what each of us has experienced it is doubtful either one of us would have been drawn to it alone.
One of those caves I’ve always sat in for safety closed behind me as I was directed out of it by colorful eyes?- no clue how to explain that, only that the child in me wanted to completely surrender that safety net within and it was time for us to move forward.
Wherever this new place to retreat to is it’s about surrendering to the Divine. Being integrated with whatever we are and where we come from.
There’s so much to unpack here and I doubt I’m capable of explaining what was experienced. Only something shifted again. While it’s my understanding that we pass through Gates of Light at different points it’s not something I usually talk about out of respect for others. God is becoming the movement within and I’m sort of just moving in unison at this point.
Anyways, developed a mantra and a meditation technique to strengthen my understanding and will share more when I find the words. Psalms 147 is connected to Splendor and I’ve made it a point to follow that sort of intuition. In fact, I almost dropped my Bible when David’s words marked who strengthens our Gates and blesses our children within. Granted, I don’t believe in coincidence so it could be nothing or it could be everything. Time in prayer and meditation will tell.
If any of you have had similar experiences with synchronicity or experienced a cherub drawing you forward please feel free to share them. Any insight will be helpful. Virtual hugs to one and all.

The Moon Sign of Astrology: Unveiling Your Emotional Landscape
Shaina Tranquilino
September 5, 2023
Tumblr media
Astrology has long been a tool for self-discovery and understanding the various aspects that make up our personalities. While most people are familiar with their Sun sign, which represents their core essence and ego, there is another significant factor to consider - the Moon sign.
Just as the Moon affects the tides and influences our emotions, our Moon sign plays a vital role in shaping our emotional landscape. It reveals how we respond to the world around us, understand and express our feelings, and even how we nurture ourselves.
To determine your Moon sign, you need to know your birth date, time, and place. The position of the Moon at the exact moment of your birth provides insights into your subconscious mind, instincts, and emotional needs.
Each zodiac sign carries its own unique qualities, and when applied to the Moon sign, these traits manifest in specific ways. Let's dive into some of them:
1. Aries: Those with an Aries Moon are fiery and assertive in their emotions. They possess a strong drive for independence and crave excitement in their relationships. Their impulsive nature may lead to quick mood swings but also ensures they bounce back from setbacks swiftly.
2. Taurus: People with a Taurus Moon are grounded and practical in their emotional responses. They seek stability and security in all aspects of life but can be possessive or stubborn when faced with change. Creating a cozy environment is essential for their emotional well-being.
3. Gemini: With a Gemini Moon, adaptability becomes key. These individuals have curious minds that require constant stimulation and mental connections. Communication is vital for them to process emotions effectively, as they tend to analyze rather than feel deeply.
4. Cancer: Cancer Moon individuals are known for their emotional depth and nurturing qualities. They have an intuitive understanding of others' feelings and possess a strong need to create a safe home environment. Their emotions can be intense, often leading to moodiness or clinginess.
5. Leo: Leos with a Moon sign exude warmth, creativity, and passion in their emotional expression. They thrive on attention and desire recognition for their efforts. While they may appear confident on the surface, they also crave validation from loved ones.
6. Virgo: People with a Virgo Moon possess analytical minds that process emotions through practicality. They strive for perfection but can become overly critical of themselves and others. Establishing routines and maintaining order helps them feel emotionally secure.
7. Libra: Libra Moon individuals value harmony and balance above all else. They seek peace in relationships and avoid conflict whenever possible. Aesthetics play a significant role in their emotional well-being, as they find solace in beauty and art.
8. Scorpio: Those with a Scorpio Moon experience emotions intensely, often veering towards extremes of passion or jealousy. Trust is essential for them, as they guard their vulnerability fiercely until they feel secure enough to share it.
9. Sagittarius: Individuals with a Sagittarius Moon possess an optimistic outlook on life and embrace change readily. They enjoy exploring new experiences that expand their horizons emotionally as well as intellectually.
10. Capricorn: People with a Capricorn Moon are driven by ambition even when it comes to emotions. They tend to keep their feelings under control and may seem reserved or detached at times, but this serves as protection against vulnerability.
11. Aquarius: Aquarius Moon individuals possess a unique and unconventional approach to emotions. They value their independence above all else and thrive in social circles that encourage intellectual conversations and freedom of expression.
12. Pisces: With a Pisces Moon, empathy and compassion flow naturally. These individuals are highly sensitive to the energies around them, often absorbing others' emotions. They require time alone to recharge and process their own feelings effectively.
Understanding your Moon sign can help you navigate the complex world of emotions with greater clarity and self-awareness. While your Sun sign represents your core identity, it is your Moon sign that unveils the emotional landscape within which you operate.
Exploring astrology beyond just the Sun sign allows for a deeper understanding of ourselves and those around us. The Moon sign's influence on our emotions can provide valuable insights into how we process experiences, connect with others, and ultimately nurture our own well-being. So next time you delve into astrology, don't forget to explore the mesmerizing realm of the Moon sign!
