You haven't gotten a lot of Non Quirk questions in a while, so I wanted to send one that I think would be fun. What do you think would be the favorite anime/series of each 1-A Character? I know Tokoyami would be a Jujutsu Kaisen fan, but the rest I'm not sure.
Can I just say how much I appreciate questions like these? It's always really fun to get questions unrelated to Quirks outside of Quirks, especially more light hearted, character focused questions like these. I appreciate you sending this in and encourage more non-Quirk related questions. That aside, I will expand this to include manga as well. There are some choices on here that I think are perfect, but I know that certain animes aren't the best adaptation.
Tumblr media
Sato: Food Wars. Maybe Toriko if you want something more on brand with him. I would say more about it, but that would imply there is anything deeper to read into with Sato.
Koda: Pokémon. There really isn't anything complicated about this choice. Just a fun, lighthearted series with wonderous creatures under the main character's control.
Mineta: Without question, it's Kill La Kill. He's actually one of the few people who are able to read into it on a deeper level and what it's trying to say but nobody believes him.
Denki: I don't know, Seven Deadly Sins? Kaminari just seems like he would be the most basic, go with whatever's is the most popular kind of fan, never really commiting to anything for too long.
Tsuyu: I think she would be into cute and happy series. Something light and fun that puts a smile on your face and could enjoy with other people around. Think something like Spy x Family.
Sero: Maybe Steins' Gate? He's on the same level as Denki, but it's usually more along with critics are going with then general audiences and at least takes some time to think about it.
Ojiro: Pretty much any heavily technical fighting anime, like Hajime no Ippo, but has a special place in his heart for Dragon Ball Z. Who knew that a martial artist with a tail would hit a chord with Ojiro?
Hagakure: I think her being into Sailor Moon would make sense. Something fun and flashy. I could easily see her using her reflective powers to do the whole Moon Prisim Power thing.
Aoyama: I could see him being kind of anime snob, being more interested in really old animes like Revolutionary Girl Utena or Rose of Versailles. Just something really pretty looking for his Bishonen soul.
Mina: Again, another character like Denki, but instead of focusing on shonen, she's more into whatever is popular with rom coms or slice of life, like Don't Bully Me Nagatoro or Dress Up My Darling.
Jiro: I honestly see her being more pulled towards the soundtrack of an anime rather then it's content. Though I do think she'd be interested in Cowboy Bebop with it's general "cool" feeling to it.
Tokoyami: He certainly seems like the guy that would be into the whatever edgy anime flavor of the month. First Death Note, then Tokyo Ghoul, and most recently Jujutsu Kiasen.
Shoji: He'd be into the Berserk manga. Just one of that people that reads super mess up stuff and is one of the chilliest people around. The only time he gets angry is when you mention any of the adaptations.
Kirishima: His favorite would be Gurren Lagann and there is nothing you can do to change my mind. It's just too perfect. That being said, if you want to pick something more ongoing, I'd say Jojo's Bizarre Adventure for obvious reasons.
Uraraka: I think she'd be into One Piece. I'm not sure why exactly I picked that out, I just think that she would like it. Maybe it's the mix of good, light heart adventures, lots of action and heart renching movement that makes me think she'd like it.
Tenya: Pretty much anything related to Gundam. I could see him being into the mechanics of the robots and the amount of stragy involved in the fights. Out of all of them though, his favorite would be the objectively best Gundam series: G Gundam.
Bakugou: Bakugou is both sides of the deep Naruto fan coin. He's simultaneously the guy that's actually reading into it and understanding what's it's saying, but also the obnoxious dude bro that talks about it like it's the greatest manga ever without question.
Shoto: It was honestly really hard to think of anything for him. He just doesn't seem like the kind of that would be into it. I was tempted on Fire Force for a joke, but I like the choice of Fruits Basket better. I feel like the complications of family and bonds would speak to him.
Momo: I was tempted to go with Doctor Stone, but I had to go with Fullmetal Alchemist. She's definitely one of those people who slaves over all the little details and themes in whatever she is watch, her face glowing as she talks about Elric's character and journey.
Izuku: I really wanted to pick One Punch Man for obvious reasons, but I think he'd be more pulled towards Hunter x Hunter. I think he'd especially be interested in the power system that's one of the few in all of manga that doesn't have to do with whatever you're born with.

Rabbit Debunks Hbomberguy’s “RWBY is Disappointing Video” and explains why the Critics are wrong about RWBY.  Part 1 of 2
Making a thread reacting to the hbomberguy RWBY is Disappointing video.
Mostly as a refresher and also because there’s been a lot of dissension regarding it so why not.
Intro Calls it R (Rue) By lmaoo.
You’re not supposed to pronounce the W So the gist of it, is that he feels like it has great concept that could be interesting, but fails to execute it in any meaningful way???
Like overall it’s bad but there’s few good glimpses-
Of what could be a great show.
I guess for now I guess I can give it the benefit of the doubt and assume good intentions so far.
No words on the History of Monty Oum and RT history.
I mean it pretty much all checks out
Though immediately admitting your bias against the show takes the validity of some of your criticisms away ngl.
So he loves the Red Trailer but brings up the views it gained and then brings up the views of the episodes (Vol 1 ep 1 and 2) as a sort of gotcha like “oh see the trailer is more popular than the episode like look at the 15M to (episode 2) 6.8M ratio!!!”
Like those are two-  Wildly different things my guy
But what’s up with that “Red Like Roses Part 1 is the best composed music Jess has ever done” take?????
That’s wild asF fr.
Like no way you listened to the soundtracks of V1-3 and still have that opinion.
Like it’s amazing but????
“Does she get the scar from the fight or from something else, oooo mysterious”.
Is this a bit????
She so obviously gets the scar from the fight so I hope it’s just a bit lmao.
Also the complaint about Adam is so weird?
“He’s so obviously a bad guy that it doesn’t make sense”
“Since there’s already wolves set up as the baddies in the series”
Like, it’s not word for word what he said but that’s the gist of it?
It’s a bad and very nitpicky complaint since there are many series with more than 1 antagonist and antagonistic force.
I don’t know.
Saying “it’s coming from a well meaning place” but then saying it’s extremely bad, followed up by an intro song saying that RWBY is lame and it sucks all while dedicating it to Monty is…. So disgusting??? And very disingenuous???
Using the ending of Vol 2 as a point in your “they don’t know their story” when Ruby is laying down all the things that they have yet to solve (leading into the new volume and this laying down the groundwork for it)
It’s obviously in your face my dude.
Ah damn, a little out of order, but is there instances where Miles or Kerry  acknowledges good faith criticism? Panels? Deleted tweets? Anything?
Mainly just curious if it’s true that they haven’t and he just didn’t do the research by saying he “has a hard time finding any”
Another thing. Forgot to mention.
Really wish he prefaced his complaints about the voice acting and writing that he understood that the studio itself was amateurish and small with not a lot of budget to work with. (Unless that’s true) not that there isn’t criticism but that- There are TANGIBLE reasons why it’s the way that it is.
Where Do We Even Start?
Uhhh they never dropped the Dust Theft plot line????
Volume 2 was literally the culmination of the dust theft and the reason is because of Cinder’s plans.
Another thing that’s in your face but just, weirdly you gloss over???
“The intro doesn’t set up the story properly… leaves out the fragile peace between the nations…. Leaves out faunus… leaves out semblances…”
Quite literally, the intro talks about things that weren’t even revealed until Vol 4 to 9. The intro is good and sets up what it NEEDS-
Like sure you can say “oh but it’s only added till later when they got the story that they wanted to tell straight”
Mate, a pro tip for a lot of writers renowned/acclaimed have admitted that some of their works or some of their best writing decisions were made by the seat- Of their pants.
You think Naruto, one of the most iconic and popular anime of all time would have spun into how it is just off the intro of the first episode?
What about Bleach?
ATLA?
One Piece???
There are so many instances where the intro just isn’t all encompassing bc- That just isn’t how story writing goes.
You can have the best most rigid outline in the whole world, but at times you’re gonna go off script because there’s something you want to expand upon more or explore.
Ends off this segment by saying that RWBY’s story is interesting and it has neat ideas (backahandedly by adding “to write a wiki about”) but the storytelling only gets worse.
Which, I sort of disagree with???
It’s not stellar by any means, but I chalk that up with them- Not having the sort of resources available.
However from what they managed TO put together it was coherent enough to convey what they were meaning to portray.
Though I do have my gripes with certain aspects of the first two volumes.
But from V3 on? It’s only gotten- Stronger.
Yes I harp on V5 a LOT and it’s still one of the weaker volumes, but the conversations and character dynamics where stronger than they’ve been.
It was mainly the animation in the last few episodes of the giant fight that I just, wasn’t vibing with at all.
Worldbuilding and Conveyance
So next he talks about how aura was explained.
Bringing up both Harry Potter and ATLA and how they tell it as an example.
Following it up by making a rwby edit to make it seem as if it was mundane and boring.
Which isnt the case at all.
If you- Actually take the time to watch the scene.
It's about 1:20 long and while the explanation of what Aura does is being told to the viewer, it shows Ren taking down the King Taijitu with his aura.
It's another valid form of story telling because it's not just two characters talking on screen.
it's also giving us an insight of how it would be put into action.
"No one just happens to have full on speeches prepared in case anyone is to ask"
Uhhh, have you met Weiss?
Even the examples you gave literally is Hermione and Katara.
"Why does Jaune not know about this?
When he came from a long line of hero's and monster Hunters."
Idk, how does Naruto not know about Chakra despite 8 years as a academy student.
He probably just skipped out on it or didn't take it seriously enough.
He never went to- A prep school like Signal either.
His transcripts were faked, so you could easily say he went to Beacon with nothing more than a Dime, A old Rickety sword and a dream lol.
Also Pyrrha is super smart and also a really great battle tactician.
Of course she would be able to- recite what Aura does word for word.
It's not mischaracterization.
You just want to twist that narrative against her.
And not just that, I feel a strong mischaracterization of Jaune.
If Jaune is played off as an idiot for jokes, that's cool. But if he's shown to just not- Understand or doesn't know about the world at large, then that could hint at the fact that Jaune is more than just an idiot.
He's probably born in the sticks/boonies.
A country bumpkin if you will where Hunters aren't all that well known nor pop culture.
It doesn't dumb down the other characters.
Because Weiss is frustrated herself that someone so famous isn't recognizable by anyone and everyone in the world.
Same thing with her and the SDC
For Christ sakes, he only knew Pyrrha from a cereal box be fr
Well he brings up the Jaundice thing and yeah that's fair, a lot of people have gripes with that (i'm not one of them) and brings up how Pyrrha is only really a character for Jaune's development as a fighter and romance option but not much else on her own.
Which... Yeah I kinda- get that too.
Like, I liked Pyrrha too, but I do wish she had more to do in V1 and 2.
But in V3 is where she shines.
Hell there were so many people who did cry and got shocked by the end of Vol 3 even with the amount of screentime she gets.
"Praise RWBY for being feminist and progessive cause most of the mcs are women... But Jaune has 4 episodes dedicated to him, and has the coolest girl in school flirting and helping him become a stronger warrior."
Jaune isn't the main character.
How I've always viewed RWBY and JNPR has always been: RWBY as the protagonist and JNPR as the deuteragonist.
They hold about the same amount of importance because of how close their teams are.
So of course you're going to want to give the deuteragonist development and screentime to.
And yes Jaune had Jaundice.
RWBY still has an ABSURD amount of episodes dedicated to them as well so the balance/ration will always be in RWBY's favor regardless of how you feel about Jaune as a character and Jaune's importance to the story.
Same goes for the rest of NPR
"The writer's dont know what Yang's semblance is.
It goes from her being angry, to it being her taking hits and she transfers that energy back to them by hitting them again, and then temper tantrums, and then re-xeplain it as a redirection of energy stored from hits."-
Uhh, no.
Her semblance has always been about redirection of stored energy from attacks and aiming them back at the opponent.
Every single time we see her use it, it's always after she's taken several hits.
It's probably still possible to use it without taking hits, but its more than- likely less powerful.
He goes on to talk about how semblances are abstract and only gets mentioned 14 episodes later.
Which sure ok, but the gist of them and how they work are still easily within the story.
Could they have expanded upon it more earlier on? Yeah they could.
But to sit there and say, "When Pyrrha used her abilities and Ruby and Weiss look at her like she was weird and surprised and confused she has powers too"
no no no no no, that is grossly misreading the scene.
Pyrrha has kept her semblance a secret from anyone and everyone.
No one knows what it is or if she even had one.
They were just confused by what she did, why her hand glowed black, and why her hand was out.
It had nothing to do with them being confused about why someone else had a semblance, but more so they never knew what Pyrrha's was.
and also, the reading of Semblance = magic is both meh and eh.
Like if you looked at any and every single semblance that exists in RWBY, every single one of them have to do with concepts that has nothing to do with earth, wind, fire, and water.
Whereas Magic in the series- has Maidens throwing storms, lightning bolts, fire, ice, etc. at any enemy they choose.
That's the major difference between magic and semblance.
Magic is divine, naturalistic. Semblances are more man made if that makes sense.
Man he really does not like how semblances are portrayed/exposited.
Like it's been just as long as he harped on for Pyrrha expositing the aura scene.
like the exaggeration that he's going to, to explain this is kinda crazy
It's not a semi complicated concept at all, like he said it was.
It's very easy to follow and very easy to understand. he brings up Emerald and Cinder knowing about it, but doesn't bring up the fact that Pyrrha had to have put it in her application for Beacon or her personal- record that only Beacon has track of.
A record that they broke into with the helps of Watts, but not just that.
But Mercury also figured it out because he's an intelligent fighter just like Pyrrha is.
You can just say that Pyrrha's opponents were all just dumb for not figuring it out.
But no, it's just bad writing I guess.
Brings up WoR as an example of not being able to tell the story completely and labels it as homework.
It's not necessarily out of the norm though.
There are lots of character guides, extra material that expands on characters, worlds-
nd ideas that you can't really put the time in the show to do.
Like let's look at the first 3 volumes and how most episodes where 12-15 minutes long.
And even then they were still trying to get the hang of writing for something so massive as RWBY.
Having extra material so readers can get a better understanding of the world around them isn't bad. because even then, most everyone knows who Faunus are.
How Aura works, what a semblance is. all of these on a surface level.
If you want to dig deep, thats what WoR is for.
Unless you just wanna insult the show and embrace ignorance?
Some Positive Examples
Such a nothing complaint really.
Just Miles and Kerry's writing vs Monty's character acting (in terms of how he conveys the four in a team fight (example being Team RWBY vs Mecha Roman)).
I mean, I dont know what to really say here.
"The writers are so busy writing drama and wacky skits to explain why they're friends while Monty is putting in the REAL work with the fight scenes and showing how close they are and how far ruby has come at becoming a leader."
Yeah... Cause that's what writers and animators do
Briefly touches on Ships and how Monty, Kerry, and Miles referenced them in the fight. (also decided to call it creepy since Ruby is 15 and the other girls are 17...
Which isn't that bad??
Like Sophomore and Senior in High School really).
Wasn't Ichigo Kurosaki 15 and Naruto not even 13?
Also says they didn't make a name- for Ruby and Yang because of the certain fans that ship those two together so they avoided that one altogether
.... Which yeah??? Did you want them too lol??
I can't seem to see his point of bringing this up because on one hand it feels like he's admonishing them for it, but  on the other hand he seems... like he's a little upset that they dont have a team attack name?
Maybe just at the inconsistency of it. Which i can understand.
I would have maybe came up with one that isn't fandom made so they can have a cool SISTERS team attack, like Rose Dragon!
Ends off this segment talking about more Miles and Kerry vs Monty (with Shawn being added in).
Another example of writing vs character expositing through animation by using the Pyrrha vs Mercury fight as well as the exposition between Emerald, Cinder, and Mercury.
Lots of talk about animation being weird and how he's seen worse animation but the stories were good enough to overlook it.
I'd be a broken record by stating this again and again.
But just look at what they had to work with. Look at how divided the writing and the animation- really were with Monty coming up with new characters that the team had to shove in last minute.
Look at Poser even and how the engine was something really only Monty and Shane (oops I made a mistake in that other post) could work to the level that they did.
Look at RT and even CRWBY at the time.
And now look where they are now.
You can't tell me that they've gone downhill when most of your gripes that you've complained about are/have been fixed in the later seasons.
Gonna end it here and make it a 2 parter. This thread is-
Long enough and I'm tired extremely lol.
I'll do a QRT tomorrow and start it back up.
If anyone has more to add or correct me on, feel free to QRT anything you feel i didnt do a good job of explaining or just missed in general.
Any help is appreciated.

May I ask why Episode 3 ( I’m assuming season 2 ) is your favorite?
Yep, it's episode 3 of season 2. Don't think I have a favourite episode in season 1, I never fully watched it. Maybe episode 11 because we get a lot of MahiKen moments?
Anyway, S2 ep 3 is great. For one, it feels very rounded and self-contained. Love when episodes have a real story arc and aren't just a chain of action that's a fraction of the bigger action spaced out over multiple episodes. Episode 3 starts mellow and ends on an emotional high. There are also no parts I'm indifferent about. A lot of episodes have parts I kinda just sit through. Neither hate nor like it, just waiting for something more interesting to happen. Like episode 21 for example, I don't care about Todo's Takada hallucination. It gave me a lot to look at, but I was essentially just waiting for the real fight to continue. That's why it's not quite my favourite episode.
Most important reason why episode 3 stuck with me: I love the additions they made to flesh out Riko's character and make her death hit harder. They really made me care about her as a person, not just her connection to Tengen. The water symbolism they used is fantastic, a great idea. Her life as a coral riff and Tengen's presence turning the beautiful shallow water into a deep pit and suffocating her. Never get tired of looking at those scenes. The soundtrack and piano in the background make it perfect. We also see more of Riko when she's carefree and being herself, so you get an impression of what a life she could've lived if she survived and somehow escaped Tengen. The episode is essentially dedicated to her. Sure you have Toji and Gojo fighting or whatever, but it's really about her. We also get our first look at the Tomb of Stars and it looks beautiful and eery. The lit but empty houses around the tree always give me chills. Again the soundtrack is perfect for this and gives you a real feeling of awe and like you're entering a different world or a snippet of the past (reminded me of some Naruto soundtracks in a good way). If anyone knows what that track is called, I'd be forever grateful. It is also the episode where they used the OP/ED the most effectively in the anime (not just this season) with it giving us the false hope of Riko surviving only to cut out when she dies. Lots of fantastic stuff in that episode that comes together really well.

I got into One Piece at the start of this year
and overall I really like it. At the moment I'm in the 800's range of chapters so I'm on Whole Cake Island and I wanted to share my thoughts on it since so much is happening now with the franchise between the manga seemingly headed towards an endgame right now, and the live action's success and confirmation of a season 2. The first thing I'd like to say is that I think I can overall recommend reading/watching it. However, I do have a few problems with the series that I think people should be aware of when getting into it. For one thing it does have many of the issues that plague the shonen genre.
In particular, it has a few issues in its portrayal of female characters at times. However, I will also say that those female characters, while often drawn in very limited body types and facial structures, have easily as quality and engaging stories as the boys in the show. All of them have their own unique, interesting, and emotional backstories that are consistently on par with the men's. However, at the same time, they are also undeniably more prone to sexualization and are often on the sidelines in a lot of the fights, the ladder of which is especially apparent after the timeskip as of where I am now. So, overall I think the depiction of women can be hit or miss but I will also say that it's still a lot better than some of the other big works in the shonen genre, namely Naruto and MHA.
Another quirk I've noticed about the series is that most if not all of its characters definitely suffer from flanderization as time goes on and lose a lot of nuance that they had in earlier chapters. I think there are standouts among the cast of this but it's pretty universal. To give an example, I'll use the relationship between Luffy and Chopper. In chopper's introduction story there's a bit where luffy thinks that reindeer meat would be pretty yummy. Somewhat on brand for Luffy but it still feels a bit out of character. Later on in that same arc Luffy is shown fighting for chopper and defends him for his ideals (see episode 88 of the anime for referene). Later on, however, there are numerous "emergency food" jokes made by luffy that genuinely bother me with how much it feels out of character for him. Like I know that "having all of the food" is on of the reasons that Luffy is a pirate but I would also think that his friends are a lot more important to him than that. Especially with the influence that Shanks had on him when he was younger (spill a drink on my and I can forgive that but mess with my friends and you're fucked etc etc).
The anime also has its own set of issues. The early one piece anime I think got the vibe of the story phenomenally well. The animation and art style is incredibly faithful to the manga and consistently gives of so much charm and vibrance that I think is lost later on, especially with things like the first opening, the soundtrack, and the eyecatches with the wanted posters accompanied by character's musical motif/theme. Where the problem comes in is when these really sweet and charming elements start going away upon the end of Skypeia/G8 and the start of the series' run in a 16:9 aspect ratio. The artstyle has a noticeable change, and the pacing begins to suffer a bit more than it had previously. You can look up what episodes cover what chapters in the manga and early on it was usually a ratio of like 2-3 chapters per episode, sometimes more, and around enies lobby it goes down to 1-2 chapters maybe 3 sometimes, and post timeskip it's one chapter per episode and sometimes 2 or 3 which is why I switched to basically exclusively reading the manga after awhile of bouncing back and forth between reading and watching.
The final issue I really have with One Piece is that the manga's content has a few weak parts. The 3 main ones that I found were Long Ring Long Land (specifically the davy back game), Thriller Bark, and Fishman Island. Two of these actually have something in common, Long Ring Long Land and Thriller Bark both have really really good parts at the end of them. My main thing with Long Ring Long Land is that the Davy Back Game feels like it was made under editor pressure to have a tournament arc. Because it just kinda pops up and never comes back again with very little if any character development or change in the status quo. However, after the davy back game has concluded we get a loooooot of new stuff, worldbuilding, a character introduction, and foreshadowing. Similarly, Thriller Bark is another arc that I wasn't a super big fan of until the very end with the musical number and subsequent conflict involving a fair amount of spoilers which I wont go into now, but just know that my main issue with thriller bark is that I think it should've been a shorter island more in line with something like Whiskey Peak, Drum Island, or Amazon Lily as a bigger part of the Sabaody Archipelago/Impel Down/Marineford Saga. Finally there's Fishman Island. I wont say much since it's post timeskip content and very spoilery, but I think it's a very thematically rich saga that suffers from too many new and underdeveloped characters, and a loooooot of pacing problems not to mention a lot of annoying character quirks and out of character actions of both the straw hats and a lot of the villains and local characters. Luffy in this arc is just really mean to another character for very little reason and it feels VERY out of character to me, and a lot of Sanji's really annoying character traits from an otherwise likeable character come out swinging here. But other than that and a slow start in the manga (which the live actions kind of fixes if you watch that first) One Piece is GOOD. Like, really good.
It's a show that, despite being the kind of premier shonen manga for the past like 25 years breaks from a lot of the genre's tropes. A lot of action manga, including the newer ones like JJK and Demon Slayer all seem to portray the characters in a place within a kind of societal system where they find a place to belong. One thing that One Piece does that I love is that it places its characters in direct opposition to that system. As pirates, the Straw Hats are outlaws being hunted by a system that's consistently portrayed as unfair and unjust. Oftentimes what they do when they visit an island is take down some illegitimate ruler that's been forcibly put in place by forces outside of the people's control. That's not something that happens in normal shonen. In fact, it's usually the other way around. Typically a shonen series villain is someone within or outside of the current system that's trying to change it. Shigariaki in MHA, Suguru Geto in JJK, the Phantom Troupe and Chimera Ants in HxH; all of these villains are bad people in the same position as the Straw Hats in One Piece. It's incredible how much nuance goes into the series villain's place in the worldbuilding. There are heroes and villains on both sides of the story's central conflict of Pirates vs the World Government. Usually the world government is portrayed as oppressive, unjust, and serves to keep the cruelly wealthy Celestial Dragons in power. However, we also see certain agents of this system that are good apples or neutral forces just trying to do good in a bad system such as Captain Smoker, Koby, Aokiji, and Garp. On the reverse side we also have a rogues gallery of pirate antagonists who usually end up being shorter term villains but sometimes evolve into overarching threats such as Blackbeard, Buggy, and a few of the Seven Warlords and Four Emporers. Ultimately the series main conflict is one of Freedom vs Control as well as who deserves to be in power and a leader's right to rule. Overall, I recommend you take the journey through One Piece. It's funny because it really is a journey. If you tell a One Piece fan that you watch or read it the first question they'll usually ask is where you are in it and it feels like that's a mark of progress in an adventure and i think that's really special. Just like the characters in the show, you're embarking on a journey. If I were to give any advice to new readers/viewers it would be to savor the moment you're in. One Piece is a piece of fiction and art that is truly about the journey instead of the destination. Don't worry about "being caught up" take it at your own pace and enjoy the moment you find yourself in and realize just how far you've come and how far you have left to go. Btw, in case anyone asks, my favorite character is Sabo and my favorite Straw Hat is Chopper

Samidare
I'm unsure if this is supposed to be a real comeback or not, but it's still interesting so let me make a quick little text post :)
'Samidare' means 'early summer rain' - which I think is reflected in the MV well. This is the spring/summer follow up to the winter from 'War Cry.' It's also a very pretty MV which would make me feel far more emotions if I had a better understanding of what was going on. Probably need to wait for the MV reaction to get that information.
Samidare when googled shows up two main things - a Naruto soundtrack and the character Samidare (an opportunistic and curious person, apparently), and the Japanese destroyer Samidare, which was launched in 1935 and sunk in 1944 in WWII. I don't think either of those are related to the MV but they are interesting fun facts.
The MV itself is the contrasts between grief and catharsis - kind of like the 5 stages of grief. When the boys have reached catharsis and understanding, they are in the classroom blooming with cherry blossoms, and the summer rain falls - but when they are distrustful of each other, are doing things behind each others' backs, are in the midst of arguments and grief, etc, they are in a darker, gritter world - represented by the fight in the field and the crumpled photograph.
There's also the grave shown at the beginning - which is to a 'Giri,' who I presume is K's mentor shown at the start of the 'Under the skin' MV. The monument to him is grounding, and resembles the cliffs and rocky surfaces in 'War Cry,' which were, in a way, an outward representation of K's grief - since he was the member most associated with them.
The first cherry blossom blooms near the grave - possibly 1) showing Giri looking down on them, and 2) showing how we can move on from grief, and that spring and summer always follow winter.
Everyone gets to be angsty in this MV, and it would make a great short drama (like 10 half hour episodes or something), but we know HYBE's never going to do that. Fun fact, the people who I think are the most angsty are EJ, Nicholas, and K. Why these guys? Idk - K is obvious but not so much the others.
I literally gasped when they started fighting at the end lol the punch Nicholas threw looked savage.
And the lyrics are very pretty (as expected, &TEAM).
And on another note, I really like Nicholas, and he is very pretty.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Hi, can I get a Hazbin Match up please?
• My pronouns are she/her
• I am bisexual, possibly also demi
• I'm quite reserved and introverted, one to blend into the crowd and not one to stand out, but once you get to know me I can be very open and expressive. An introverted theater kid essentially. I'd also say l'm pretty kind, but can also be sarcastic. I can also be a bit mischievous as l like to do random stuff because I think it's funny. Despite all this I'm still a more lower energy person and am pretty calm, the mediator (and quite mature I'm told). The therapist friend who also needs a therapist if you will. But that more hyper part of me definitely comes out more intensely if something I like is involved. As in bouncing up and down at the seams explaining my interests hyper. I also seek for deep connections with people, so I hate small talk
• My interests are in drawing, writing, reading, engineering, and ESPECIALLY music (kpop, anime openings, musical soundtracks, video game music, instrumental covers, etc) as I have a very large imagination and am constantly thinking up new scenarios with different characters be them for myself or for a potential book or show idea. I also loves rocks and have a rock collection, and find interest in other small things that I'll dip my toes into (like abandoned Disney animatronics, mechanics of roller coasters, Ancient Rome history, etc) but I also love media such as anime (Naruto specifically), NATM, Splatoon, Hamilton, Greatest Showman, and more
• I am also an INFJ, a Virgo, and a Hufflepuff
• Uh... I have epilepsy (not photosensitive, also medicated), I get very socially anxious depending on the scenario but am getting better about it, don't like fake people, and I have trust issues. I am also in a choir because of my love for singing
𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕓𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕕 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙…

Quite honestly I have no idea how you two met. Although I'd assume at the hotel
Since you're introverted and more quiet he'd definitely be the one to initiate conversation probably noticing how you're more closed off from the rest of the cast
"So what are you doin here sugar?"
He most likely just wanted to annoy the hell out of you at first and you noticed that and pushed him away... which only made him want to know you more
After that it was a chase for him. You also probably noticed how fake he was and began getting annoyed with him for it
Not to mention all of his energy really drained you at first most likely. It was only when he had a rough day at work when you decided to talk to him since it looked like he had it rough
"It's not your problem sweetie,"
There's no doubt that he was closed off at first and he didn't want to talk about what had happened but he did end up opening up to you
You being calmer than him definitely balanced him out but you do have enough energy so that he doesn't get bored of you or being around you
He likes talking to you because it calms him down and brings him back down to earth
He loves it what you're sarcastic and will commonly be sarcastic with you over random things
The moment he sees you get really hyper over something you enjoy it makes his heart flutter and he wants to continue it for as long as he can
"Lets do this!!"
You hate small talk? Well so does he! He doesn't see the point of it and will start whole ass arguments over random things
He loves seeing your reaction when he starts shit, he knows you'll try to resolve it and he finds it adorable although if it really gets to you he'll try and tone it down a bit
"Alright everybody I want a clean fight!!"
The moment you said you love music I knew that you'd two would be soulmates
You'd bond over music and he'd share all of his playlists with you. You'd also probably have a joint playlist together
He'd try to get you to dance all of the time and will try to push you out of your comfort zone
He might find the rock thing weird but explain it to him a bit and show him a cute looking rock and he'll be obsessed
"Its adorable!"
As for your epilepsy he tries to keep you away from Valentino's corner even more so (not like he wasn't trying before)
He doesn't want you to get hurt by Valentino any more than he does
He also probably keeps you away from clubs because of the lights and will opt to take you somewhere a little more chill instead

I remember your name is reference to Shikamaru lol then i remember i watch Naruto when i was a kid (Not really watch all the episodes at the time, i just watch it when i am so bored and can't find anything on the TV, and it's rare i watch the TV, also just watch 360p mostly naruto fights lol) then i watch fully Boruto series in my middleschool
What would you think of Boruto (the series)
For me, the plot is okay ig (I like the concept of Naruto lose everything at the beginning but he will get everything while Boruto do the opposite but the lore is just make more confusing with otsutsuki ig, like it's cool but why it's have to be op aliens lmao), i just have issues with it but i kinda not vocal about it cause it's not too important to hate it too much (I just let the lore do it's things whether i hate it or not) but i get emotional attached to Boruto's characters like Boruto itself (he is my son /delusional), Mitsuki, Himawari, Sumire, Inojin and Shikadai.
I guess i love the concept cause i am angst lover i just can't escape it
I haven't seen much of Boruto tbh, so I don't have any significant thoughts to offer.
The only thing I really decided to watch was Boruto: Naruto the Movie, which iirc was back when Naruto Shippuden was still on air. I liked it a lot, though in retrospect that could be more because of the Naruto nostalgia factor (like the Naruto+Sasuke vs Momoshiki fight referencing past fights in the series, using soundtracks from Part 2/Shippuden as opposed to Naruto the Last using Part 1 soundtracks, the fucking father-son Rasengan scene) rather than... well, Boruto itself.
I also read The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring and... it was okay, I guess? Again, it felt like the stuff I liked about it was more Naruto oriented than Boruto oriented.
As for other arcs, I just mostly saw clips here and there. The ones I remember top of mind... the one where Himawari befriends Shukaku, Kurama's death... time travel arc... and then some random scenes I came across on Youtube. I didn't seek it out otherwise.
I do understand things have gone spectacularly pear-shaped and Boruto's now a fugitive... so there's that?

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently about my special interest over the years…
my first ever proper special interest was naruto. I remember being 11/12, in my first year of secondary school. My school had a library that that had manga in it and they had all of the original manga. I picked up the manga and fell in love with it. I then started the anime and the special interest really kicked in!! Me and my best friend at the time would sit together in class and hype over naruto (and not get any work done- but we were good kids- we were having fun- and put our heads down when we were told XD) I remember doing little doodles of gaara or rock lee in the margins of my note books- or all over my school planner !
Through school I was always picked on / bullied for being the weird kid- in the later years of secondary school I pushed away my love for anime/manga- also things like gaming/pokemon . I wasn’t allowed to like that stuff no- I could not because fuck - I was so tired… But in recent years- I’ve been in learning the negative associations/ thinking around the passions. It’s not cringe bunny- if you like it- it’s not cringe- nothing is cringe! (It’s something I tell myself every day now)
If I could go back, I’d tell 12 year old bunny it’s ok- to not listen to the boys who picked on me- or to not pay attention to the girls who’d look at me weirdly- I’d give her a big hug and tell her everything is going to be ok- to keep her head up- rough times we’re on the horizon but - she’d make it through… Naruto bought me so much joy during a time of my life where everything sucked! Other anime’s did too (like bleach and then code geass R1 and R2) - but for now I’m just talking about Naruto!!
I’ve been revisting some of the anime - to be specific my favourite arc- the chunin exam arc!! I’ve been rewatching a bunch of the second round fights and -!The neji and Hinata fight- the family struggle that came with it… and then- oh my god the gaara rock lee fight!! I’d forgotten just how hyped I used to get over it! Like just oh my god- I didn’t even have the words for that fight- literally it was my favourite part of the whole series hands down!! The character design in naruto will always stick with me! Orochimaru’s design especially- just ugh- the purple eye shadow and his piercing yellow eyes!! The soundtrack SLAPS as well- the animation is so of its time- the cell shaded (?) blocked shading in areas- the areas of line weight- ugh it’s just- it’s something special to me !
Naruto will always be special to me, it will always have a place in my heart- even if it’s no longer a proper special interest. Every now and then I revisit it- the same childlike wonder and hype is still there… a lot of nostalgia as well…

What would you say your favorite anime hands down is?
Oh that is a great question.
Well Dragon ball is my childhood, so it has a special place in my heart.
Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood is an Amazing anime with a great message.
I grew up with Naruto and of the big 3 I watched that one beginning to end
Oh and I can’t forget Sonic X
But if I had to pick my favorite anime of all time, Gurren Lagann.
Now I’m not blind to the faults (and some of the fanservice didnt age well (I skip it)) but damn it if that show wasn’t the VERY DEFINITION of hype and defying expectations.
The animation, the soundtrack, the character growth.
It did so much, moving forward like a drill. It was truly an anime that pierced the heavens.

3 19 & 57!! from your wrapped. + your favorite number between 1 and 101
3: Hayloft ll - Mother Mother : Okay very self explanatory considering me as a person lol. This song is 1) so fucking fun for Blorbo Listening Hours (shout out to Percy Critical role and also Fayne NPC from my brain. I love crazy gun people) but 2) it is ALSO just a very good song to yell along to in the car. aN EYE FOR AN EYE AND A LEG FOR A LEG!! A SHOT IN THE HEART DOESN'T MAKE IT UNBREAK!!!
19: Goodbye - Ramsey (From Arcane) : GodDAMN did this soundtrack have no right to go as hard as it did. (That is a lie. They spent six years making it.) Anyway this song is one I listened to a LOT while writing the plot for my current DnD campaign. The final chorus especially has this incredible rising tension and desperation and the vocalist is SO good.
57: Hope of Morning - Icon For Hire: AN ALL! TIME! BLORBO! SONG!! Like very much a bop as a standalone. I've been listening to this song since I was 13 BUT I especially enjoy listening to it for Sakura (from Naruto) and Lyn (the fucked up evil druid I've been playing in a DnD campaign for 2 yrs) Absolute bop. THE HOPE OF MORNING MAKES ME WORTH THE FIGHT! I WILL! NOT! BE! GIVING! IN! TONIGHT!!!
76: What Doesn't Kill Me - Kacey Musgrave : This album really hit me completely out of left field. I usually do not care for Pop Country but Kacey's voice is so lovely and this song specifically is a delightful combo of being very sweet and positive sounding while also having some absolutely KICK ass lyrics.
I've been to hell and back
Golden hour faded black
Say that it ain't coming back
Ain't coming back
But you're gonna feel me
When I'm done
What doesn't kill me
Better run
Like... yes MA'AM I'm getting teary-eyed in the grocery store!!!

As the person who got you into Black Lagoon.. Now you know my situation. One of the most interesting underrated franchise that exists, barely has content at all. Barely any stories, art, gifs and other content.
This is a problem.
omg hiiii yes i totally feel your pain! it is crazy that there's very little content here on tumblr when it's really fucking good! the characters (the women especially omg omg), the soundtrack (including the banger opening), the little plots/arcs and most especially the action scenes! i am a sucker for great action scenes !! i was super hyped whenever there's a fight scene going on!
it really is underrated! i haven't heard many people talk about it! not to start comparing, but it reminds me of cowboy bebop (but it's also very different from it), and that one is reaaally popular, so i thought more people would check out black lagoon because of their similar vibes
is it because it was a 2000s anime? i realize a lot of series (that's not naruto bleach and black buter lmao) from that time tend to be overlooked. some don't like the animation from back then, but i think black lagoon's animation is really good!
also maybe it's because of the controversial stuff? like you mentioned to me last time, it does include some crazy things that some people may not be comfortable watching, so that's understandable!
it's definitely it's a hidden gem though and maybe it's just that not many people have talked about it, so it doesn't get that much attention. but maaaaan it's sooo goood, i wish more people would check it out!
and yeah i was excited to look through the black lagoon tag for stuff to reblog and i was surprised to find that there's not that many fan works for it - and a lot of the ones are just art (mostly of naked revy lol) that's been reposted without permission, which really sucks. if only i could draw 😭 the most i can contribute are gifsets and edits lol
hopefully more people will watch it and there could be more content for it! because it deserves more love!

My Live Action One Piece Review
AKA, the manic text I sent my brother after finishing the Netflix series:
🏴‍☠️ FINALLY finished, and it was terrific as you said! I was surprised at how emotionally affecting the live action One Piece was, the last episode especially. It was such a good translation, so much credit to the set costume and makeup designers because every single character even the background ones and backgrounds were as fun if not more fun to look as than the animated wackiness. The fight choreo too was all standout. Love the ensemble cast and the realistic awk camaraderie, the ups and downs, they translated from the source. Overall, it was a thrilling reminder of the power of Luffy's character. I know it's a sort of Japanese trope character, the stubborn charismatic happy-go underdog David against all the Goliaths, also literally Naruto (notable hunger/appetite is included in the trope), but that trope always in my head stayed just that, a trope-- literally a cartoon, rendered through 2d characters like Naruto and Luffy, who show that childlike hope and enthusiasm, unlike how it would appear in real life, so to be frank, that was what I thought would translate the least. But it must have been Iñaki Godoy's acting, plus the way they translated the script, the scenes they chose, the sequencing, which made it not feel caricature at all, instead he was giving THE MOST to show what's most important about their crew's difference from other pirates— their values. The script nails that in a way that inspires. As much as the characterization and design did it, I am a thousand percent sure nostalgia was the largest factor of my enjoyment as well as— how they threaded what scenes they included, I thought the cadence of flashback felt similar to how prestige dramas do backstory, and the music was giving, too. Soundtrack reminded me of Hans Zimmer on Pirates of the Caribbean, which tracks.
