Refreshing the tracking on my laptop delivery like a mentally well individual. I misunderstood the update, it isn't three hours away, it's travelling from Brisbane to a location that's three hours away, but I'm hoping that it arrives before the end of the week.
#out of ichor#I'm so looking forward to being off the Tumblr mobile app#the obnoxious loud advertisements that play or force pause scrolling#and it being a challenge in general to navigate let alone to actually write#I think I'm too used to a larger screen and a physical keyboard

YES PLEASE USE NEWPIPE its so good you can download video+audio in a ton of different formats or just audio as m4a, and then you can use video transcoder from fdroid or github to change the codec to whatever you want. It is so genuinely amazing and doubles as an alternative youtube client AND it has no ads
One thing I really love about seedy anime websites and YouTube mp3 converters is like. They actually do what they say they’re doing. But they WILL try to trick you into downloading a virus. Like it’s almost just a greeting at this point. I try to extract a song from a YouTube video and it says free VPN installer tonight perhaps? Free VPN installer tonight queen? And I say YouTube-mp3 converter you sly dog, you know what I’m here for. Show me the goods. And YouTube-mp3 converter says ahhh you got me, no getting one over on you. Thought it was worth a try tho. Here you go king x
#also just in general for android fdroid is such a good alternative appstore because of the sheer volume of foss apps on there#mindustry is on there#a ton of great musiv streaming apps and mp3 players#loads of privacy/networking stuff#librerafd ebook reader#utility apps#some great alternatice navigation apps like luftlinie and organic maps#phypox is great for running tests or gathering data with your phones built in sensors#for example you can use it to find barometric pressure in your area if you need to predict the weather#or if you wanna impress people by telling them itll rain and being correct#ive got smart autoclicker from there to automate queued posts so i can spam those on mobile#chipdefense is a great mildly involved/casual tower defense#as is anuto td#theres a ton of apps on there focused on being as lightweight and small as possible too if space is a concern for you

How to Design a Seamless Mobile Experience
UI/UX Best Practices

In today’s mobile-first world, a smooth and intuitive mobile user experience isn’t just nice to have—it’s essential. Whether you’re building an app or a responsive mobile site, the way users interact with your design can make or break their perception of your brand.
For more articles please visit: https://pixelizes.com
In this blog, we’ll walk through UI/UX best practices to help you design seamless mobile experiences that keep users engaged and coming back for more.
1. Understand User Behavior on Mobile
Design starts with empathy. Mobile users:
Are often on the go
Prefer quick access to information
Use thumbs for navigation
Expect fast loading and fluid interactions
By designing with these behaviors in mind, you’re already creating a more intuitive experience. Learn more about mobile usage patterns.
2. Prioritize Content with a Mobile-First Mindset
Start your design process with the smallest screen in mind. Focus on:
Core content and functionality
Clean, minimal layouts
One task per screen (to avoid overwhelming users)
Once the mobile experience works beautifully, scaling up for larger devices becomes easier.
3. Simplify Navigation
Clear and consistent navigation is crucial. Follow these tips:
Use bottom navigation bars for thumb-friendly access
Keep menu items to a minimum (ideally 4–5)
Make icons recognizable (home, back, search, etc.)
Use sticky headers or floating buttons for important actions
4. Optimize Performance and Speed
Slow apps or sites = frustrated users. Improve speed by:
Compressing images and media
Minimizing API calls
Lazy-loading content below the fold
Avoiding heavy animations unless necessary
Fast experiences feel more responsive and reduce bounce rates. Check Google Page Speed Insights to assess your performance.
5. Make Touch Interactions Effortless
Ensure that every tap and swipe feels natural:
Use tap targets of at least 48x48dp
Leave space between buttons to prevent accidental taps
Support common gestures (swipe, pinch, scroll)
Provide instant feedback (e.g., button highlights, animations)
6. Follow Visual Hierarchy and Readability
Small screens mean you need to be crystal clear:
Use bold headings and ample spacing
Stick to 1–2 fonts with clear contrast
Break up content with cards or sections
Make sure all text is legible without zooming
Explore typography best practices for mobile .
7. Design for Accessibility
Make your mobile design inclusive:
Use sufficient color contrast
Enable screen reader support
Avoid relying on color alone for information
Ensure controls can be accessed with one hand
Accessible design benefits everyone—not just users with disabilities.
8. Test, Iterate, Repeat
No design is perfect out of the gate. Use tools like:
Figma prototypes for early testing
Maze or UserTesting for usability studies
Hotjar or Google Analytics for real user behavior
Use real feedback to refine your mobile UX over time.
Final Thoughts
Designing a seamless mobile experience takes thoughtful planning, user-centered thinking, and a dedication to simplicity. By following these UI/UX best practices, you’ll create mobile interfaces that not only look great but work beautifully—turning casual users into loyal fans.

Finally switched to YouTube Music instead of Spotify. Uh. Why is this better in basically every way?
#not forced into an app. there's music there that's not been posted on spotify#interface is really clean and nice#its not as 'polished' as spotify but its soooo easy to navigate#even if its a little plain#only complaint is that the like/dislike buttons are very small on mobile#i suspect this issue would be fixed in the app but i like listening ad free

Navigating the App Store Submission Process: Tips and Best Practices
The journey from a brilliant app idea to seeing it live on the App Store can be thrilling, but the submission process itself? Often, it feels like navigating a labyrinth. Apple's stringent guidelines and review process, while ensuring quality and security, can be daunting. Fear not! This blog will equip you with the essential tips and best practices to streamline your app submission and increase your chances of a smooth approval.
1. Understand Apple's App Store Guidelines (ASG): Your Holy Grail
Before writing a single line of code, dive deep into the Apple App Store Guidelines. They are the foundation of the submission process. Familiarize yourself with:
Design Guidelines: Ensure your app aligns with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) for a consistent user experience.
Functionality Guidelines: Understand the prohibited functionalities and ensure your app's features comply.
Business Guidelines: Be aware of Apple's policies on in-app purchases, subscriptions, and advertising.
Privacy Guidelines: Prioritize user privacy and data security. Clearly outline your data collection and usage practices.
2. Thorough Testing: Bug-Free is the Way to Be
Apple prioritizes a seamless user experience. Rigorous testing is crucial.
Device Diversity: Test your app on a variety of iOS devices and screen sizes.
Beta Testing: Utilize TestFlight to gather feedback from real users before submitting.
Edge Cases: Identify and address potential issues that might arise under unusual circumstances.
Performance Testing: Ensure your app is responsive and doesn't drain battery excessively.
3. Optimize Metadata: Your App's First Impression
Metadata is how users discover your app. Make it count!
App Name: Keep it concise, relevant, and memorable.
Keywords: Research and use relevant keywords to improve search visibility.
App Description: Clearly explain your app's features and benefits. Highlight its unique value proposition.
Screenshots and App Previews: Showcase your app's best features with high-quality visuals.
Category Selection: Choose the most appropriate category to reach your target audience.
4. Prepare for Review: Anticipate Questions
Apple's review team might have questions about your app's functionality or content. Be prepared to provide:
Demo Account: If your app requires login, provide a demo account for review.
Test Data: Include relevant test data to demonstrate your app's functionality.
Explanatory Notes: If your app has unique features or requires specific configurations, provide clear instructions.
Contact Information: Ensure your contact information is accurate and up-to-date.
5. App Store Connect: Your Central Hub
App Store Connect is your portal for managing your app submissions.
Accurate Information: Double-check all information before submitting, including pricing, availability, and localization.
Version Control: Utilize version control to track changes and manage updates.
Review Status: Monitor your app's review status and respond promptly to any feedback from Apple.
Resolution Center: Use the resolution center to communicate with Apple's review team and address any issues.
6. Localization: Reach a Global Audience
If your app targets a global audience, localization is essential.
Translate Content: Translate your app's text, metadata, and visuals into relevant languages.
Cultural Adaptation: Consider cultural nuances and adapt your app's design and functionality accordingly.
Right-to-Left Support: Ensure your app supports right-to-left languages if necessary.
7. Stay Updated: Apple's Policies Evolve
Apple's App Store Guidelines and policies are subject to change. Stay informed about the latest updates to ensure your app remains compliant.
Apple Developer Website: Regularly check the Apple Developer website for announcements and updates.
WWDC Sessions: Attend or watch WWDC sessions to learn about new features and guidelines.
Developer Forums: Engage with the developer community and stay informed about industry best practices.

8. Don't Give Up: Rejections are Part of the Process
App rejections are common. Don't be discouraged.
Understand the Reasons: Carefully review the rejection reasons provided by Apple.
Address the Issues: Make the necessary changes to comply with the guidelines.
Resubmit with Clear Explanations: Clearly explain the changes you've made in your resubmission notes.
By following these tips and best practices, you can navigate the App Store submission process with confidence and increase your chances of a successful launch. Remember, patience, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality are key. Good luck!
