10 years ago I made a list of goals

It was 2am. I was staying up late to browse Tumblr, read fic, and generally enjoy a reprieve from the teenage angst du jour. To pass the time, I decided to redo my Tumblr tagging system, a project I’d put off for ages because, as I quickly found myself bemoaning, “This is going to take forever.”

But that got me thinking. What other things did I want to do that felt hopelessly out of reach -- pipe dreams for which “forever” was an appropriate timeline? Once I started cataloguing them, I found I yearned for a great many impossible experiences, goals that would likely require drastic changes in my life and environment to achieve.

Could I make those dreams come true?

Thus my “25 by 25″ was born: 25 impossible things I wanted to accomplish, with an aspirational deadline of my 25th birthday -- a date so unthinkably far away at 15 that it was practically synonymous with “forever.”

The list has evolved over the years, with different goals entering and exiting the medley as the bounds of impossibility changed for me. Ultimately, every goal that made the final cut fulfilled the same criteria: it was something within my power (and desire) to attain, and it was something that, at some point in my life, felt impossibly, hopelessly, unattainable.

Well, I turn 25 today.

And I’ve accomplished every single thing on the list.

Small goals like eating things my parents forbade me from eating as a kid. Massive goals like skydiving and seeing the northern lights in person. Goals that signified independence and financial security (getting a tattoo); that made me take chances (publishing a story); that encouraged me to pursue adventure (doing a cross country road trip). Finishing Bleach, just as the clock ticked past midnight.

There’s a lot I’m reflecting on today as I celebrate completing the most ambitious to-do list I’ve ever made, but mostly I’m remembering how exciting it felt each time I crossed something off the list, because it meant I’d just done something cool and fun and impossible! And it meant I was building a life where I was allowed and able to experience joy, and confidence, and ambition, and the myriad other incredible, impossible things I didn’t think I’d get to have when I was 15.

It’s crazy to look back and remember how many things used to feel impossible that now fall completely within the realm of possibility. And I’m so unbelievably excited to find out what other impossible things I’ll end up adding to the list.

I saw you mentioning Damiestophe a few times before, would you want to maybe share some more thoughts abt them?

certainly!!

damstophe (or as it is/was more commonly called, dristophe) is one of the very rarepairs i've shipped from the beginning. like, back in 2014 beginning. back then i only really liked it for angst of "what if damien and christophe had a thing and it made gregory and pip jealous and upset :0" which is certainly an angle you could approach it from still. those four characters are all very intertwined in general imo.

these days however i'm more in damstophe for the idea of like... them finding solace in the fact that they both thing themselves unlovable? christophe believes he's cursed by god (likely bc of things his mother has told him) and damien also thinks that but as the son of satan, he may actually be right. that is, they both see themselves as these monsters, menaces to society and god and the universe itself. their gut reaction is to be like "fuck you, who cares what you think? we're going to make our existence everyone's problem" but also they fear that everyone is right that they're no good and so they cling to the only other person that they feel understands.

it's incredibly clear in damien's episode that he's stuck in a cycle of "is lonely and sad" -> "gets mad about it" -> "does something scary to drive others away" -> "is sad and lonely", ad infinitum until he moves. and christophe has terrible boundaries bc he wants to connect with someone so bad, taking even the slightest bit of affection (kyle telling him to be careful) and IMMEDIATELY dumping some heavy personal shit on him. since they both respond so intensely but also so dogshit to lack of love in their life, i feel like they'd start a relationship that seems really awful and toxic at first/on the surface, but eventually they'd come to realize that the other is putting on a front just like them and they'd soften out with each other.

Munakata organizes a bonding experience between s4 and Homra post-rok since they're trying to get along now. They did fun activities at first but in the end it's topped off with couple skydiving as some kind of trust exercise. Each person gets a "buddy" from the other clan and since Anna can't go she's left on the ground with Awashima which meant Munakata had to pair up with Kusanagi (SaruMi are together of course). They weren't told about it until they're on the plane so imagine the chaos.

Oh. Oh dear D: Imagine all the previous stuff leading up to this was like actually normal activities, like they all went to an amusement park or a festival or something and S4 are so impressed that Munakata finally decided to let them do something fun. At first they’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop but then they think well, maybe now that the other clans are involved Captain has decided to tone down their bonding activities….and that’s when he leads them all to the landing pad where the planes are waiting for fun skydiving activities. Munakata explains that in order to help the different clans work together better he thought a ‘trust dive’ would be entertaining, everyone gets to do a tandem sky dive with someone from the other clan. 

The alphabet boys can already see this is going to be bad, imagine the Homra alphabet are like what is wrong with your King while S4 are just like thank goodness he’s letting us use parachutes. Fushimi and Yata are paired together and Kusanagi is already concerned that they’re both going to die because Fushimi keeps teasing Yata about are you sure you fit the height requirement for this jump and Yata keeps messing up his gear by trying to punch Fushimi in the stomach. Kusanagi sighs and thinks well at least he’ll be paired with Awashima, who will take this seriously, but then he realizes that Awashima is staying on the ground with Anna. He wonders who his partner will be, which is when Munakata walks up to him all it seems we have been paired together. 

Of course this goes as well as can be expected, they’re both being very polite to each other while also simultaneously being very rude. I imagine Munakata trying to tell Kusanagi the ‘correct’ way to do this and Kusanagi disagrees because he does actually know how skydiving works with a parachute, something he’s aware Munakata does not have much experience with. They can’t agree on when to jump too, Munakata feels they should go first to set an example but Kusanagi prefers to go last so he can keep an eye on everyone else. Munakata notes that it truly is just like Kusanagi to stand by and watch as others do what they want, Kusanagi says it’s very like Munakata to assume everyone else wants to follow his example. Meanwhile by this point even Fushimi and Yata are looking at the two of them like are you guys gonna be okay should we switch out for safety.

NEKO!BI HAN - Who was pissed upon hearing the news about the spell, Shang tsung said that it would take a whole afternoon to find a spell with a reverse effect, but in the meantime you would have to take care of your grand master...

NEKO!BI HAN- Who likes to have his ears rubbed, even if he never admits it, he likes to be pampered and praised by you, who likes you to caress his soft ears, while admiring the fangs that grew in his mouth, he will purr and try to cuddle cuddle in your lap - he totally forgets that he's over six feet tall and extremely heavy because of his muscles - he'll make an angry growl when you ask him to get off of you, while grumbling that he's going to freeze your tongue - he never would, but he just wanted you to let him enjoy the warmth of your lap.

NEKO!BI HAN - Who jumps at you from random places, you can be walking and out of nowhere see a tall shadow high up on the ceiling, then see the figure of sub zero with his ears moving, and after a few seconds he will jump on top of you knocking you down on the ground - you can and definitely will get hurt some of these times.

NEKO!BI HAN - Who forces you to caress his sensitive spots, while he snuggled into your embrace, stretching while purring happily, feeling your fingers on his neck, back and on his fluffy tail, while scratching your bed with his nails, playing with a ball of red thread you had - now it's his - you could stroke under his chin, feeling his rough beard grow as he purred hoarsely, looking at you as he blushed slightly in embarrassment.

NEKO!BI HAN - Who will become more sensitive, while walking with you through the gardens, he would pull your clothing fabric lightly pointing at several black kittens, while looking at you and saying that he looked like them now - an elegant black cat - after minutes he will having some on your shoulders and lap, while smiling slightly.

NEKO!BI HAN - Who sleeps in your bed, being a smaller shell, while you massage his ears and massage his back - his tail will move gracefully with each touch - he will force you to stay there with him, enjoying the warmth of your body only, After all, he is still your grand master. When all this is over, he will pretend that nothing happened, returning to being the dreaded sub zero, but you took several photos of him still as a neko - secretly saving them in a folder on your cell phone.

I will apologize in advance if Von's part is longer then Billy's. After all, they are just headcanons but also I figured that Billy wouldn't know how to respond to such a thing as he's an android while Von himself is a thiren.

Also it is thiren or therian? I can never tell and I've seen both.

✦ With Billy, he only gets mildly annoyed when they are combing back his hair and closing up his jacket at times because of the ‘wind’. Though he does like that they are thinking about his appearance from time to time. He is a pretty good looking mech, he takes pride in his looks from time to time so if he found out his hair was unkempt and a bit messy, he would want someone to tell him for sure. But they were starting to become overbearing in his eyes that he would pout and whine whenever they would start tending to him in public.

✦ He jumps at their touch everytime, muttering quietly that they don’t always have to be babying him from time to time and that it’s a choice, but they don’t listen at times and don’t stop until he is presting and clean. Eventually he just brushed it off as a quirk of theirs despite the fact that no one else in their team got this similar treatment. It’s not until Nekomata told him something rather odd that made him rethink everything he’d known about them. At first he didn’t understand, what did she mean by how he was so lucky that he had someone who cared so much about him to groom him often?

✦ She thought he was joking at first, but it clicked that he was just dumb and really hadn’t noticed, so she held back on telling him so he would ask them himself. He can’t help but wonder what Neko meant by that, cue the therian mentioned before coming over and tsking at Billy before scolding him about his jackets collar and keeping his cuffs even. The more they go on, he can’t help but put two and two together and start to overheat from how cute they were being all this time.

✦ Since Lycaon was a thiren himself, he knows the mannerisms of his fellow kind. They vary depending on the species but they all fit under some umbrella of shared habits. That being said, he always gets a little flustered when they come up to him and mention that his red tissue is uneven in his pocket, reaching out to fixed it along with any little thing they can get their hands on. While he could have done it himself, a small part of him loves the thought of being doted on, and so lets them do as they please before thanking them. 

✦ They do this often, helping him fix himself up before making appearances or after a job well done, having rough housed a little leaving him a little messy. And Von isn’t one to own another being, so he returns the favor by smoothing out their skirts and shirts, finding an excuse to fix their cuffs to linger his hands over theirs. The way they grow flushed and thank him which only leaves him with a hint of excitement. If he could, he would take them into his office to properly groom them but he thinks that that would be too far. Move at your pace, he thinks, though if they offer to help fluff up his tail he wouldn’t refuse. 

✦ Of course, it isn’t unusual for either of them to fix up the other girls when needed. They are often thought of as the parent figures of Victorian Housekeeping, so seeing them get along well with their little preening sessions and cute moments of fixing each other's clothing. It leaves little to the imagination as Corwin and Ellen have at least spoken about when they would come out and announce that they’re dating. And while Lycaon spends more time with them and hears about this, he can’t deny his urge to ask them out and properly court them. But he wants to hear it from them first.

You have cat ears, one moment you were a perfectly different creature, and now a cat! You swivel your ears, not used to the sensation, and glance back at your tail. How? Why?     Alastor's voice comes from behind you, calling out your name, "Darling, you appear to have … " He uses his microphone stand to lift your tail, "New limbs."     "I don't know what happened." You look at him frantically.     "Well, no matter." His smile grows even wider, "Give us a meow."     "What, no. Alastor this is serious!"     Alastor leans in eyes sharp, amusement clear as day, "Aha, now that's not a meow."  

You wake to a strange sensation along your head, and Angel muttering to himself, "So soft."  

When you wake up you make out Angel's bleary figure, his hand above her head. There's that feeling again, you let out a long purr and his smile widens. Purr? Since when do you purr?  

Angel leans closer, "You've got cat ears." You can hear the delight in his voice.  

"How?" You squeak turning to see your tail.  

"I got no clue, but I love love love it." He nuzzles into your ears again.  

You rush into his office panic-stricken. Vox takes one look at the horror in your eyes and barks out, "Meeting over, someone will reschedule." He stands, makes it halfway to you before he realizes you look like a cat.     His anger melts away and a laugh bubbles from his speakers. You cross your arms, "No, no don't you laugh at me."     Vox lifts his hand over his screen covering his mouth, but he can't hide the little hearts that appear in his eyes. "Hah – sorry sorry you're just so fucking adorable."  

The moment you find out about your new features you rush to Charlie, dipping into your shared room. Charlie looks up from the window seat and her eyes go wide, smile overtaking her face.     "No, no, don't smile. You have to help me. I don't know where they came from."     She jumps up reaching out for your tail, "Did someone - "    "No, I woke up like this." Your tail flicks at her touch, that feels kinda nice actually. She's still smiling.     Charlie nods, trying to look serious, "Okay, okay. We'll figure it out, I promise … can I touch your ears?"  

"Oh! Oh! You're a cat!" Lucifer jumps up from his chair staring at you. The two of you stare at each other for a beat. He's right, you don’t know how but he's right.     "Lu, what do I do?" Your voice comes out uncertain, tinged in embarrassment.     His dumbfounded expression shifts as he registers what you need. He approaches wrapping his arms around you. "They're just ears … and a tail … and well just a few new features is all. I think they're very nice, great ears, completely great. You look great. Don't be sad."  

Rose always has a quick solution when you need one, but even she looks a bit startled when you show off your new features. Reaching out she pinches the tip of your ear between two fingers. "These are new."     "I don't know how this happened."    Sensing your unease she lets go of your ear instead cupping your face, "No worries, I'll have my people look into it." Her smile turns sharkish, "I could go for a snack."  

"Do you know you have cat earssss?"     You throw back your head and sigh, "I am."     Pentious looks at them curiously, some of his egg bois gathering around to point at your new features too. "Did you know that catsss were worshipped for a long time?" His smile turns a mix of both bashful and teasing, "Shall I worsship you?" 

"Holy fuck nuggets, babe." Adam's voice is too loud, you wince and wave your hands frantically at him to quiet down. He only laughs and points at you, "Gives a new meaning to my favorite pussy."     You groan, you're never going to hear the end of this. The other exterminators are going to have a field day when they find out.     Adam approaches and flicks your ear, "Let's say I go make you purr."

My headcanon is that they were secretly dating since they were young, before Sabo regained his memory and Law became a Warlord. So when Law helps Luffy he does it out of instinct, because he is a "D" but then he finds out that he is his brother-in-law. Now Law takes care of Luffy, because he knows that he is important to his beloved Sabo, and they got married in secret. They even adopted Roule. Anyway, my headcanons are for the games. I'll keep waiting for Law and Sabo to officially meet in the manga.
