Again, Oneohtrix Point Never (2023)
Is Again lush, pillowy psychedelic pop? Stratospheric electronic orchestration? Superlatively-textured balladry? ‘70s krautrock pastiche? Spielbergian sci-fi score? Sort of all, but not particularly satisfyingly. While certainly pretty, thoughtful, theoretical, accomplished, Again indicates that it offers much beneath the surface but, upon inspection, reveals little. It is the least coherent and least conclusive OPN project yet.
Pick: ‘A Barely Lit Path’
