Pair: Neteyam x Human!reader (sully family, others na'vi)
Warning: Neytiri being a bit(a lot) controlling, forced pairing, cozy moments, comfort moments, All characters are adults.
Note: I had this draft half done, and decided to finish it today. Let's see what you think, I left it open ended. If it's received good feedback I'll continue…it's a short story. But how did you find it so far?
AVATAR MASTERLIST | Ko-fi
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4[final]
Tumblr media
Returning to the Omaticaya clan, where Neytiri was born, grew up and raised her children, was the best thing she could have done. After the confrontation with the RDA, things seemed to calm down. After a year of living in the Metkayina clan, the Sullys returned to their clan in the jungle. They were accepted immediately and things seemed to be running smoothly. But lately something was making neytiri anxious, and it was the future of her children. Tuk and kiri were still very young, they were just starting to live, lo'ak was still in training, he was not far away from becoming a man. But neteyam was already a man, he was at the perfect age to find a mate and make a family of his own. And neytiri was going to handle this. She wanted neteyam to make a good choice, neteyam was next in line to be Olo'eyktan. As the son of toruk makto, that was a position he had to take, and he had to have a good partner by his side. The mate neteyam chose also chose the position he wanted to belong to, and neytiri wanted him to have the best place in this clan.
Neytiri was given the task of introducing them to the best women in the clan, and with the best references. Many girls were after neteyam and she knew it…she had heard how the girls talked about how amazing and handsome her son was, but neytiri had to find the girl she found perfect. But whenever she introduced a new girl to neteyam he would just say hello…talk to her for a few minutes and that was it. He showed no interest in them, it was as if another ordinary clan member was talking to him. But this did not stop neytiri, that was until she met Lekka. She was a majestic na'vi, she was very beautiful. Not to mention how skilled she was at hunting, a true warrior. Neytiri thought that this girl would be the perfect match for her eldest son, besides the girl had told him that she was very attracted to neteyam and that she was interested in him. So neytiri took this sign as a good opportunity to introduce them both to each other.
Today was a hunting party, neteyam with the Na'vi hunting party had a good day. The hunt had been a success, and they were having a small celebration in the clan, just outside the hallelujah caves. A nice hidden place and perfect for carrying on the omaticaya traditions. The whole clan was there, including some humans. Of course, the Omaticaya clan already had to coexist with the good humans, who had helped them fight this battle between species. The laughter, the dancing filled the atmosphere with peacefulness…neteyam was with his group of friends, moving away for a moment to get a drink. It wasn't until he bumped into his mother. -"Neteyam I glad you're here," said neytiri, next to her was this girl, lekka. Neteyam had to admit she was very pretty. But… he wasn't impressed. -"Hi mom…" neteyam speaks nervously, he already knew where his mother was coming from. It wasn't the first time she introduced him to a na'vi girl. Neytiri laughs a little, taking the girl's arm to bring her closer to Neteyam. - "May I introduce you to lekka, she is the daughter of telup" speaks neytiri. Neteyam makes the 'I see you' sign waving to the girl.
Neteyam could see how nervous the woman was, she was shaking a little bit. And she was looking down, he felt a little sorry for these girls. Her mother always put them in this embarrassing situation. -"Nice to meet you… it's a pleasure. My name is neteyam" neteyam speaks. -"Yes… I've heard a lot about you," says Lekka with a trembling voice. Neytiri apologizes to the couple of guys, telling them that she was going to go get more food, but it was a pretend to leave them alone. According to her everything was going as she had planned. Neytiri proudly approaches the group that was waiting for her and watching from afar. Mo'at, Tsu'tey, Jake were looking at her walking towards them, with a big smile on her face. Neytiri approaches and sits down next to Jake. -"And what do you do now?" asks Mo'at, the woman didn't have to look at her daughter to know that she had done something. -"Me? nothing…the essentials," says neytiri, she is proud of her work, she has just introduced an amazing girl to her son.
"You know that's not going to work, right?" says mo'at. Listening as neytiri chokes a little on her drink. "Mother what are you talking about, of course I do" says neytiri, looking to jake for support. But he just shifts his gaze, trying not to be included in the conversation. On the other hand tsu'tey looks curiously at the two women. "You're trying to get neteyam together with that girl…you can tell he doesn't like her. Besides…this trying to get together never works, look at you," says mo'at. Now it was jake's turn to choke, but from laughter. He knew mo'at was referring to how he and neytiri met. Meanwhile tsu'tey made a groan of annoyance and leaned back on the log behind him. - "I witnessed that, and I agree with mo'at" complains tsu'tey watching as jake continues to laugh.
"Hey…but this is different. Neteyam is different, I know what I'm doing" says neytiri, sitting up more in her seat. She was getting upset, no one in her family understood her. But she wanted neteyam to make the right choice and take her rightful place again. "Love…I know why you're doing this, but it's not necessary. Neteyam will eventually find a girl he likes, you should leave him alone" jake says, but he can see how neytiri is looking at him with a pout. Grimacing for him to keep quiet, jake just laughs a little and keeps drinking. he knew neytiri was stubborn and didn't care what anyone else thought, she was going to do it. Jake watches as neteyam is talking to the girl. You could see how uncomfortable he was, fidgeting a little. His tail was curled up at his heels and he glanced at the group of friends from time to time. - "He looks very nervous," says tsu'tey, he was also looking at the boy. - "Why is he…neytiri" speaks mo'at, looking at his daughter. Neytiri rolls her eyes, and now looks at her son. She clearly noticed how uncomfortable the boy was, but she supposed it was normal. He had never talked to that girl before, he might be nervous because of how cute she was. -"They look good together," says Neytiri. - "Yes they look good…but he doesn't look good" jake grimaces, the interaction his oldest son was now having with that girl was horrible.
"Mo'at?" y/n taps the woman's shoulder, getting her attention. - "Oh, what's wrong?" says mo'at, turning to look at you. All the group's attention was now on you. -"I'm going to go rest, I've finished doing the chores you told me to do," you say, laughing a little.
You had been one of the human children born here in Pandora, just like Spider. And it was normal for you to have interacted with the na'vi from an early age… but while spider preferred to be playing with the sully children, you preferred to go look for fun elsewhere. And that's where you met mo'at, the woman noticed how every day you would go to her hut and watch her in awe as she worked. Or when she was doing her daily chores, you always followed her. She never complained about you, you were quiet and calm, so your presence pleased her. One day mo'at invited you to approach her, and that's when you started asking questions. Which surprised mo'at, you were a very intelligent child, for such a young age. Something told mo'at that she had to help you, and accept you. So she dedicated herself to become your guardian…she would teach you, take care of you and make you join the clan. She would never be your mother, but she would care for you like one.
"Oh thanks, I'll look at the results later" says mo'at, stroking your hand a little. -"Hey, why don't you stay a bit to celebrate… kiri is over there," says jake, waiting for you to accept. You had grown up with his children, you were practically a daughter to him. For some reason, neytiri had no problem with you when you were around his children, she thought you were good. But only that. -"mmm no thanks, I want to go rest" you apologize, and say goodbye to everyone. Starting your way to the lab. -" She has helped you a lot, hasn't she?" speaks tsu'tey, looking at mo'at. The woman was still looking at you from afar, with a proud look. - "You know…she has a great future. She's smart and a quick learner," mo'at says. -And not only in the medical field…in technology she is amazing, you have to see how she helps norm, she is very smart" says jake. Everyone is silent for a moment. -"Besides…she's a very sweet girl, she's good" says mo'at while he continues eating. Neytiri doesn't say anything, she just listens curiously and then turns all her attention to her son neteyam. When she looked, she saw that the boy was no longer there. Instead there was a lekka alone, waiting for the boy to return. Neytiri stood up quickly, approaching the girl. "Where is neteyam?" asked Neytiri, looking around to see if she could find her son. -"I don't know…he said he was going to look for something, and he hasn't come back," says Lekka. Neytiri was going crazy, she didn't know what she was going to do with that boy.
Tumblr media
After talking to mo'at, you decided to go to your favorite place. You knew you had told mo'at you were going to rest, but you didn't dare tell her where you were really going to go or do. Walking secretly, as you went deeper into the jungle, you thanked Pandora's nature for being so bright. It was a spectacle for your eyes, walking faster to get to your secret place. Not far away, about 20 minutes walk, there was a crashed plane. You were sure that it was from the first war that the RDA had with the clan, because it was very deteriorated, and the first time you had found it you had to clean some skeletons that were still inside. After a while this had become your secret place. You reached the entrance of the plane, opening it carefully… pushing open a door you had made out of metal. Entering and pointing at it as you closed the door. Approaching a machine you had created not long ago, stretching the rope so that it would turn on and start doing its job, oxygenating the area. This machine allowed the air around it to be clean and safe for you to breathe, at least 10 feet away. The plane had some closed areas, so that the good oxygen didn't get out, but still the pandora's air came in. But still, it was safe for you.
This was the best thing you did…invent. As Norm used to say, you were a little box of surprises, always inventing things and improving others. Since you were little you had been like that, your head was full of ideas and this hideout was the representation of that. Although it didn't have the best structure and your goal was to sign it completely, you were still working on it. Taking off your oxygen mask, placing it on the wall. To start getting more comfortable, he had to be here before long. Or so you thought, looking out the broken window a little. Not getting too close, without leaving your safe zone. You see that no one is around. You sit down near a small table you had down at night, starting to work on the new oxygen mask prototype you were making. You were so busy, you didn't hear the first knocking on the front door. Knock, knock, knock… the knocking got louder and you panicked. Keeping silent, and turning off the lights you had on.
Carefully approaching the door, to see who it was. -"Hey…baby it's me" you hear his voice, and smile a little relieved that it was him. You turn on all the lights and open the door quickly, meeting the boy. Neteyam was at the entrance, looking around, making sure no one was watching him. -"Hey get in quick…the air is getting thinner," you say, taking his hand and pushing him into the plane. Neteyam laughs as he enters carefully, lowering his head as he passes through the door. As soon as he enters, he can feel you wrap your arms around his neck, trapping him in a soft kiss. Giggling against your lips, as he holds you around the waist. Sitting carelessly on the floor. - "Y/N…love" neteyam was laughing, as you pull away caressing his face. Arranging his hair, looking at him carefully, studying his mood. He looked somewhat exhausted and overwhelmed…something seemed to be bothering him. -Are you upset?" you ask, watching as Neteyam lays his head on your chest.
He was sitting on the floor and you were standing between his legs. This allowed a perfect height for him to lie on top of you. -"I am… but it's not you," says Neteyam, as you hug his head closer to your chest. - "Well…anytime you want to talk about it, I'm here," you say. He closes his eyes for a moment, then pulls away from you. "hey, take this," neteyam pulls out of his small pouch, a piece of food that he had wrapped in a leaf. -I saw that you left quickly…you haven't eaten anything," says Neteyam, watching as you take the piece of food and walk away from him, sitting down right in front of him. "Mmmm yeah…I was going to eat with you, but…you looked busy" you open the leaf, but neteyam could see your raised eyebrows. -"Oh, that…this is lekka…you know how my mom is about introducing me to girls" says neteyam, taking your foot in his hands to start massaging it. He didn't want you to bother with him, he wasn't to blame.
"mmm she's very beautiful, I've heard how good she is" you speak, taking a bite of the meat. Now looking up to see neteyam, he was looking at you with a soft smile on his lips. His little eyes are sparkling, as if he is looking at the most beautiful thing in this universe. -"But she's not as beautiful as you…you know that," says neteyam, watching you grimace. Trying not to laugh or choke. Neteyam reaches out his hand, to wipe some sauce from your lips. - "I'm serious… you are so beautiful in my eyes" says the boy, leaving you speechless. He always left you speechless.
You two had grown up together, although you preferred to be with mo'at. You also went to play with spider and the sully boys. Even when you were growing up you preferred to be with neteyam, nothing ever happened. You were just good friends, it wasn't until neteyam had to leave the clan that you noticed that your feelings for him were much greater. Just like neteyam, you promised each other that you would see each other again. And so he kept it, when he returned to the clan the first person neteyam went to look for was you. From then on you had not separated, starting this relationship on the quiet. You used to meet here on the plane, and only here you could be together. Outside you were just good friends…but here is your secret hiding place, you were yourselves. This situation was time consuming, and sometimes it could be exhausting for the two of you.
After eating, and making jokes about hunting neteyam. You both decided to lie down and talk for a while. Neteyam was leaning back in a rather large chair in the plane. While you were lying between his legs, with your back against his chest. Netayam was holding your hand, playing with your fingers, looking at how strange and beautiful they were at the same time. - "Hey…did you notice that now the walls of the plane are sitting more" you speak, listening as Netayam answers you with a 'hmm'. - "I won't close all the windows though, so you can still get your air in and be comfortable in here" you speak. - "you're great baby… I don't know how you have all these ideas" says neteyam, kissing your hair. "I don't know, it's just natural" you laugh, feeling Neteyam wrap his arms around your torso. To pull you closer to him, kissing your shoulder. Lately you had been wearing the na'vi outfit that kiri had given you, and neteyam loved it. He could feel you better this way, without the horrible human clothes you used to wear.
"Baby… how about if you stay to sleep with me here…today?" asks neteyam, you can feel how his tail gives you some taps on your feet. He felt nervous about your answer, it wasn't the first time neteyam proposed this to you, but you always denied it. Saying that norm was waiting for you in the lab. It was partly true, but not that much. -"Mmm I'm not sure" you start to speak, but neteyam interrupts you. -"It would only be today… I don't want to leave you" neteyam hugs you more tightly. Norm wasn't necessarily expecting you, but you knew he was going to ask a lot of questions the next day. Just like neteyam, he knew what he was expecting and even more so coming from his mother. But he didn't really care, he wanted to rest with you, to spend more time with you.
You think about it for a moment… it would be fine if you stayed here. This place was perfectly equipped, besides… you also wanted to stay with him like this. - "Well… it's okay. But we have to get up early, ok" you look up, seeing how neteyam was giving you a big smile. In one swift movement neteyam, grabs you by the waist and lifts you up to get on top of you. You were all giggles, feeling him start to kiss your neck, and chest. "I'm at your service sweetheart" neteyam says excitedly, lying on top of you letting his head rest on your breasts. Breathing deeply of your scent, wrapping his arms all over your body. Sometimes he could forget that he was almost twice your size, and that lately he had grown muscularly. -"You're crushing me," you tease, feeling him release you. -"I'm sorry" he laughs, kissing your lips one last time before settling back. You were his safe haven in this world.
In the hut…
"Hey, have you seen neteyam?" neytiri asks jake. They had gone to sleep very late, noticing that they had never seen neteyam return. Neteyam was still with them in the family hut, although he could go and do whatever he wanted. Noticing that all the kids had arrived but him. "No, maybe he went off to do something else, or he's with someone else," said Jake, not really paying attention to what he said, he was too busy sharpening his knives. But this made neytiri even more curious and she started to think. Maybe neteyame saw lekka again, and she told neytiri that she hadn't seen him so she wouldn't be embarrassed. Or was neteyam with another girl? Or he was getting tired. Neytiri didn't want to look like a stalker mother, but she had to know what was going on in her eldest son's head.
P.S What do you think of this story? I would like to know what you think. <3

Neteyam spent days pondering on how he could possibly prove his honour to your parents. His family already threw that away when they left.
He knew that if you were to go to him without breaking apart from Va’tep. That it would end in blood shed between the two men. He didn’t want that, he didn’t want to hurt anyone. But how else could he?
Yet all he wanted was for your beautiful soul to be his once again. For him to be able to hold you in his arms as you rest your eyes. To finally make the bond with you as he never got to before he left.
That’s why he was sat at the tree of souls. His eyes closed, kuru connected as the cold breeze brushed across his blue shimmering skin. He felt his conscious connect, a feeling indescribable, the hairs on his skin standing up as he took in a deep breath.
“Please I need guidance…help me please.” He could hear his ancestors, all of them converse as if they were right next to him. He could sit there for hours. Wisdom and guidance passed on spanning from the start of clan and from Eywa herself. He would find the knowledge he needed here. He was sure of it.
Tumblr media
The late night sounds of the forest chirped and buzzed in your ears as you took a stroll. The leaves under your tough feet, crunching each step you took. Your bow was slung behind your back as you held a basket. You thought you may as well make yourself useful if you were to walk around so late.
Va’tep still had not arrived back in his tent after the hunt that evening. It wasn’t unusual he tended to take longer on days were he hunted. You didn’t mind though, it meant you were free from his presence just a little longer.
Walking further into the forest I heard a ruffle in the leaves. I perk my head up, my heart beat starting to fasten.
“Y/N?? Y/N what are you doing here?!” Va’tep was angry, his brows furrowed and his finger pointing at me as if it was a blade.
“I just wanted to go for a walk. Why are you still out here?” You asked with a sense of worry but also in a way to turn the question on him.
Va’tep grumbled stomping his way over to me “I was out training. I got carried away. I thought you knew not to go out alone. It’s too dangerous now with the demons”
You rolled your eyes with a huff. “Well I couldn’t go with you, you were out!” You knew it was dangerous, but you could protect yourself. You weren’t the broken, fragile woman you were when Va’tep found you.
“Don’t raise your voice at me” He said with a growl, his ears perk, chest heaving.
“I will raise my voice if I like Va’tep, forbid I try and clear my mind and walk on Eywas soil!” You were shocked he was so angry, maybe his hunt did not go well, but that didn’t give him the right.
“No. You don’t yell at me. You shouldn’t be out so late it is dangerous. You were never this defiant before!”
Your chest plummets in shock, defiant? That is word used for children, not one for an adult, especially not one you are promised to.
“Defiant?” The words came out quiet but they were not soft. Your tone was sharp and angry.
“Yes! Defiant! You speak against me in clan meetings, you go out late! I have been patient with you…picking you up when that skxwang left. And now he’s back! And you disrespect me! Y/N…you are my mate, not his.” Va’tep loved you, he did but he knew deep deep down you didn’t.
He was a prideful man, with a large ego. He did not like to lose. And he felt as if he was losing you just a little more each day. He knew if he wasn’t as stubborn he would’ve walked away already but this last month he was at his breaking point. It was affecting his own mind, his skills. The thing he prided himself on, no matter how much he thought he loved you, he knew he was fighting a losing battle.
You opened your mouth to talk, only a slight sound exiting before Va’tep continued his speech. His once angry tone has turned to desperation, making guilt bloom in your heart.
“And you- you never return any of my affections anymore! I cannot remember the last time I felt your touch! I don’t understand why you don’t appreciate me after sticking by you when all he did was leave!” Va’tep was getting breathless now with a tight and furious grip on your arm. His nails slightly digging in to your soft skin
“I just don’t understand you! I never know what you are thinking! I thought you’d get better and maybe one day you would return my affection! And I really thought you did…just for awhile before that moron decide to come back and throw everything into chaos AGAIN! I don’t understand what he has that I do not…we are both mighty hunters, we are both skilled men…if it is not my skills then jt is my character that must not be enough for you.”
“Va’tep- I” You were lost for words, yet you had so many thoughts swirling in your brain. Guilt grew in you. You didn’t love Va’tep, no one could ever fill the space in your heart that Neteyam did. But seeing Va’tep, a man whom you didn’t love but respected to be so hurt and angry in front of you. It felt like you were seeing yourself in him.
“What?” He spat angrily, his eyes tearing. Va’tep felt his body coil in embarrassment, he has never shown anyone this much vulnerability in his life. And Eywa did he hate it.
“I am grateful for you Va’tep…you know i am” You couldn’t look him in the eye, grabbing the hand that was wrapped around your arm.
“What are you saying Y/N? Am I correct it is me?” His voice shook a little, his grip loosening.
“I…I wouldn’t be here without you. A-And I know you care for me. But I never- I have never” You couldn’t get the words out, your throat closing up.
“Loved me?” He let go, you watched his face drop. His scowl turning into a frown. “I know…I know I am not the kindest man…I know I am not Neteyam. But these years…did you never feel anything?”
“I- I cared for you…You were a friend someone I cherish. But you cannot love me how I want to be loved.” It was as if you were stabbing him in the heart over and over again.
“No. No I just can’t be the man you want to love. We are promised…your parents gave us a blessing!” He was growing angry again, his teeth grinding, hands shaking.
“Because you are the family of the Olo’eyktan! Of course they would give there blessing! It wasn’t as if i was mentally there to give mine!” The bioluminescence of the environment let the tears on both of your faces shine brightly. Displaying just how frustrated you both were with this ill fated relationship.
“You are a good man Va’tep. Though you can be rough, and stubborn and temperamental. You are a good man…just not the man I want. And when Neteyam came back- I didn’t want to get back with him. I made a promise with you and he broke me but- but I cannot let myself be miserable.”
All the thoughts you had kept locked away forever had started to trickle out of your mouth, becoming a waterfall of confession. Va’tep’s grip finally left, as he took a step back seething pointing a hopeless finger at you.
“You- You are miserable?” He was defeated, for the first time in his life. And did he hate the feeling…it repulsed him. “Fine.”
“What do you mean? What do you mean fine?” A puzzled look painted your face.
“I am not an evil man. I will not keep you if you you don’t want me. I just wish you told me of your lack of love to me before I had spent so much time. But- But I guess it is my fault, I know I am brazen man.” You had never seen him so defeated, it hurt you.
“Va’tep…I’m sorry” I look down but I feel his rough hands touch my cheek…the most gentle touch he had ever given.
“I’m sorry for not treating you well…but know this Neteyam is a coward. Don’t let him hurt you again.” And he gave you a soft kiss to the forehead “Come now. We can move your stuff out tomorrow.”
The walk back was quiet. The crunching of the fallen leaves below and the quiet sounds of the night were the only ones you could hear. Not a word uttered between you two the entire walk home. It wasn’t awkward…but it wasn’t peaceful. This was the most time you two had spent together in weeks. And knowing it would be one of the last times. Va’tep walked just a little slower home.
Tumblr media
As you woke Va’tep had already disappeared into the chores of his day. It didn’t surprised you at all, why would he want to see you? The guilt of last night harboured on your heart. Yet relief courses through your mind. You had your freedom. To finally live the life you thought got ripped away when Neteyam left.
Getting out of your shared tent with a box of little trinkets you kept. It was as if you were waving goodbye to a chapter of your life. You knew your parents would be furious, it scared you a little, to be a disappointment to them once again.
A mix of strong emotions hit you when you walked off to your new tent. You could feel the gossip hungry eyes of your fellow people stare at you. Promised mates, breaking apart it was not common. The news would travel to your family fast but you did not have the courage to tell them.
Tumblr media
Trying to find just some peace to calm your own emotions down you decided to walk down to the river. The rushing sounds of the waterfall, the wind blowing through your hair and the cool feeling of the water engulfing your feet as you kicked. You couldn’t describe the serenity it brought you.
Neteyam walked behind you, he knew if you were at the river something was clouding your mind. You two hadn’t talked for awhile, he wanted to give you your space. But being from you when you were so close was killing him.
“Hi beautiful.” Neteyam said quietly “What are you thinking about.” He sat down beside you
“I fear I am terrible.” You say out loud the confession shocking Neteyam as his eyes widen.
“Why do you say that?”
“I thought Va’tep was…I always thought he thought of me as a trophy, to show he cared for his community by taking me in when you left. But he did care for me, I feel guilty for not loving him.”
Neteyam knew what you were talking about. He knew it was wrong to not keep walking back home when he heard you two fighting in the forest last night. But he couldn’t get himself to move.
He was shocked as well, when the ancestors cleared his mind. Showing him that jealousy was clouding his conscious. It was Tsu’tey that stayed with him at the tree of souls.
Neteyam opened his eyes and saw Tsu’tey the mighty Olo’eyktan standing infront of him. Jake and Neytiri had told stories of the virtuous warrior.
After greeting him Tsutey huffed. “You have a human mind sometimes…”
“I’m sorry sir but i’m not sure what you mean”
“Va’tep is not evil…he is stubborn just as I was. We’ve all heard his confusion when he comes to Eywa just as you do now. He sees you as a threat, just as I saw your father. Your father proved to me and the omatikaya he was a honourable man, he tamed Toruk. Deep down he cares for her, you must let it happen as Eywa wills it to be. And you must prove you will never ruin the woman he cares for because just as i saw my lover die he saw yours broken.”
Looking at you he held your hand gently, a touch you felt your body sink into. “Do not feel guilty for feelings you cannot control. He will find someone just as we found each other.”
“I am still scared of you leaving and now Va’tep is gone…I’m relived yet so worried.” Neteyam shakes his hand and caresses your cheeks making you look directly into his bright yellow eyes pupils dilating as he sees yours.
“I promised to you I will never leave again, I know you do not trust me I mean how could you. But we are taking this one step at a time…this is just our first hurdle my love.” You smiled as you fell into his chest. His arms enveloped you in a tight embrace as it started to rain on you both.
Though it didn’t bother you, his embrace felt like home. A warm fire you could sit near and never leave is what he reminded you of. A flame between you growing larger everyday, finally returning the spark back into your heart with his delicate love.

¡¡¡
"What is wrong ma'ite?"
Your mother ask when she notice you're staring intently at her and to your father.
"Sa'nu do you love sempu?"
Both of your parents looks at each other soon they broke into a laughter, your mother bringing you closer to her. Her arms wrapping around you, your father's arm rest at the waist of your mother and resting his chin on your mother's head.
"Ofcourse I do ma'ite. Soon when you grow up you'll find someone you love too."
You giggle at her words and snuggle closer to the hug between your mother and father.
"Olo'eyktan Jake Sully, Neytiri te Tskaha Mo'at'ite."
Your parents greeted the leaders of your clan, you stood between the legs of your mother and father trying to hide yourself. You notice someone behind the legs of your clan leaders too, looking directly at you. The staring contest you had with that person broke when your mother introduce you.
"This is our daughter. Say hello to your elders ma'ite."
Your mother lightly push you upfront and you look up, the couple infront of you both have a smile on their lips.
"I want him! Sa'nu can I love this man?!"
You said and latch on towards the man's leg that is infront of you.
"Ma'ite! I'm so sorry olo'eyktan. Come here child!"
Your mother smiles apologetically but Jake can only laugh and when he was about to pick you up, another small pair of arms wrap around his leg
"No! My sempu is only mine! Go love someone else!"
Another child that is just around your age, maybe a one to two years older than you. You puff your cheeks and hug Jake's left leg tighter.
"I want him! Go away you narvä'"
"Who you calling ugly?! You're more uglier!"
"You look like a prolemuris!"
The child who you're bickering with gasp and tears are already pooling on his eyes. You stuck your tongue out and both of your parents can only gawk at your exchange bicker.
"Oh eywa! I'm sorry for her harsh comment Neytiri."
"It is fine. Neteyam, you should not call a woman ugly."
"She called me ugly first mother! Also, she's not a woman! She's a little girl!"
Neteyam huff and you giggled as if you just won a big argument by just having his mother on your side.
"Okay okay, kids settled down. Why don't we join the other clan members, hm? Up we go!"
Jake effortlessly lift you and Neteyam placing the both of you to his shoulders as he walk towards the big bonfire at the center. Your parents and Neytiri followed while conversing.
"Mister, I can love you right?"
You ask once again whwn Jake put you and Neteyam down, Jake laugh softly and make a mess of your nicely comb hair
"Hey! My mother spent a good time combing my hair."
"Sorry babygirl, I will and only love Neytiri. Don't worry, I know you'll be a good and strong woman when you grow up."
You pouted and cross your arms then you smiled and cling to Jake's arms
"Are you sure mister? I want to be a warrior then!"
Your mother and father who just arrive heard what you said and felt proud. You are so young but your eyes held so much determination. Neytiri put one hand on your mother's shoulder and smiled at her. Neytiri's eyes look at you then to her son and she silently chuckle. Eywa really does work in mysterious ways.
》》 [ neteyam is 14, you are 12 ]
*thwack*
A groan escape from your lips seeing how your arrow landed too far from the red dot you are aiming. You heard several chuckles behind you, turning around you place your hands on your waist
"You haven't shoot your arrow, Neteyam."
The boy before you smirk and got down on the log he was standing on together with his friends. You watch how he stretch his arms before picking up his bow and arrow.
"Don't blink syulang."
You were about to retort when he let go of his arrow and it hit the red dot. His friends cheered and Neteyam went to them smiling and doing a fist bump. He turns to you and a annoying grin is plastered on his face.
"What now? Are you going to stomp your feet like the little girl you are?"
You can feel your face heating up and push him hard before marching away and you can hear his laugh and it made you more annoyed. When you got back to the camp, you're greeted by his younger brother, Lo'ak.
"Oh Lo'ak! How I wish you are the one who is training me."
"Pfft- it's still early in the morning. Did Neteyam already annoyed you sevin.."
"Him and his friends! Argh!! I wish I can punch him straight in the face."
Lo'ak laugh and told you that his visiting the scientists lab and you immediately nodded. Being with Lo'ak is an escape from the tormenting grasp of Neteyam. Ever since he pass his iknimaya, he became more cocky towards you. Seeing a single strand of his hair is enough to make your day miserable.
"Heya Spider, Kiri!"
You greeted the two when you entered the lab, grabbing a mask you went at the side of Kiri. She greeted you with a smile before turning her attention to the avatar inside a container.
"Shouldn't you be practicing your bow skills?"
You heard Spider ask
"Fuck that! I suck at it because Neteyam sucks at teaching."
The choice of your words made Spider, Kiri and Lo'ak gawk at you before laughing, hard. You look at them with a confuse face.
"Holy! If your mother or father found out that you use such vulgar human words, they will skin you."
"Psh it don't matter if they don't find out, right?"
You sheepishly answered and now all of you are laughing, you stayed there for an hour before all of you decided to leave. You walk at the side of Lo'ak, your handd wrap around his as you both talk about your rendezvous tomorrow. He have been planning on sneaking out and going to the old shack, a place where Jake specifically told you and his kids not to go.
"Bro bro!"
Spider frantically tap Lo'ak's arm and when the boy turn around he immediately got rid of your hands wrap around his arm as if he just got burn.
"So you skip practice to slack?"
You recognize that voice that you hate down to your deepest core in you, you gathered all your strength and turn around. Greeting him with a fake smile.
"Oh hello there Neteyam!"
"Wipe that fake smile of yours."
Your rolled your eyes and cross your arms beneath your chest, you can feel his glare. Why is he mad? You should be the one who's mad!
"Glaring at me? Is that how you treat your student?"
"If that student of mine is hard headed and skips practice. Then, yes. You deserve to be glared at."
You gasp hearing his answer
"You- wasn't it enough when you shame and laugh at me together with your friends hours ago?! You're horrible!"
You shouted and walk away and Neteyam was left standing there dumbfounded. Lo'ak shrug his shoulders before walking away together with Kiri and Spider. Neteyam let out a low growl before making his way towards their family's hut.
When he got inside he saw his father and your father discussing something and the both of them stop and look towards his way.
"Back so soon? How's the training?"
"It was okay.."
His timid answer got the attention of the two adults but they just ignored it. Neteyam sat down at a corner and grab a small pouch that was place on top of his other knife. He grab the bracelet, made by you and was given to him during his 10th birthday. He smiled when he remembered how you gave it to him, you waited for him to be alone and when he was you sneak behind him and tug on his tail. After laughing at his reaction you step closer to him and slip the bracelet on to his arm.
Neteyam was smiling from ear to ear when suddenly the image of you clinging to his brother cross his mind, he immediately got irritated. He was about to place the bracelet back on the pouch when you suddenly entered their hut.
"Oh, I didn't know you guys were busy.."
You shyly said and look down, you are always hunted by the memory of you 'confessing' towards your olo'eyktan when you were just a child.
"Don't worry babygirl, me and your dad is just finishing up. What brings you here?"
You look at the side and saw Neteyam staring at you and you just rolled your eyes at his
"My mother wish for my father to be back a little bit earlier today. If it's possible..."
"Why? What happened ma'ite?"
Your dad immediately ask and you reassured him that everything is fine.
"Well, we can continue this tomorrow."
"Thank you olo'eyktan. Come now 'ite."
You nodded and followed behind your dad but before you can step out from the Sully's hut you glance at Neyeyam and his eyes are still on you, it made you feel weird so you ran towards your father.
"You look like a fool, son."
Jake stated
"What? I don't like her!"
Jake stop what he was doing and stare at his son then Neteyam just realise what he said and immediately hid his face with the use of his palm and that earn a laugh from Jake.
"Whatever you say, son."
》》
"I'm pregnant."
The mat that you were holding drop down on the floor and the meat your father is holding also drop down on the floor. None of you dared to move and your mother let out a groan
"What's with the reaction of you two?! I said I'm pregnant!"
It was your father who move first and immediately hug your mother, showering her kisses and telling how much he loves her.
"Aren't you going to hug me, ma'ite?"
You broke into a sob and immediately went to hug your mother as you cried out. You silently thank Eywa for the gift she have given your mother. Your father presented himself to be the one who'll cook and you also decided to help, you spend your dinner with your family full of love and smiles.
Soon after your mother and father decided to rest early for the night and you told them that you'll be just outside. Looking at the stars, they didn't forbid you since you have always done this since you were young.
Just right around the corner of the camp there's a small way that will lead you to the top and you'll be greeted by the shining stars that adorn the night sky. You sat down with your legs cross and your right elbow resting on your lap as you stare at the vast of the forest. You were enjoying your peace when you heard someone going up
"Haaaa what a peaceful night, I hope that person who came up here falls."
"Is that the right way to greet your superior?"
"Superior my ass.."
Neteyam softly flick your forehead and that made you hiss at him which he just laughs. You scoot away when he sat down beside you. The two of you never bothered speaking up again but Neteyam can't handle silence that much. Maybe his used on the daily bickering of his family.
"So, are you going to attend the practice tomorrow?"
You turn to him and look at him straight in the eyes
"The day you'll stop treating me like a little girl and teach me properly, maybe I will."
He can sense the irritation on your voice and he wants to get rid of it. His body act on it's own accord and reach for your cheeks
"Oh yawntutsìp, How will I teach you if you keep on missing and skipping your class?"
"Stop calling me that! Will I stay on your class when all you do is tease and make fun of me with your friends?! Ugh, you ruin my night!"
You spat and stood up as you hurriedly left the place. Your cheeks burning up when you can still the warm of his fingers against your cheeks.
Neteyam runs a hand through his hair and laid down as he stare at the sky, he wants to be at your side at all times. He knows his attitude sucks when his near you but can he help it? You make his heart beat faster that he fumbles on his word and keeps on messing up. He stared at the fingers he used to touch your cheeks and brought it closer to his lips and kisses it.
"Look at this!"
You went to where Lo'ak is and saw him pointing at something and you squealed seeing a not very large nest and there rest three ikran babies. You are on your way up to the highest part of Hallelujah Mountain, to try once again on taming a ikran.
You guys couldn't even sneak out to go towards the old shack since the momen Lo'ak woke up his father was already on his trail.
Together with Lo'ak, Kiri, Neteyam and Jake, all of you climb towards the top and you felt your stomach turning at the sight of the ikrans. You gulp down as your eyes wander around the area
"Here, let me help you kid."
You felt Jake's hands rest at your waist and help you get up. Once on your feet you were grinning but it was soon wipe from your face when you saw Neteyam looking at your way.
"Now remember, taming an ikran is not easy. You need to be patient. Understood?"
"Yes sir!"
You beam and Jake chose Lo'ak to go first, you gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and you heard someone snicker at your back, you turn around saw Kiri nudge her older brother.
"Go get your ikran bro."
Neteyam can only blurt it out as he cross his arms, it wasn't easy for Lo'ak. Seeing how this ikran before him almost bit his arm off. He got a rope on his side and slowly walk towards the side and when he did he immediately wrap the rope on the ikran's mouth and made the bond.
"Woah!!"
"Go Lo'ak!"
"You can do this boy!"
Everyone cheered for him and he kept telling the ikran to keep calm, it took him a couple of minutes to get it calm. Soon after Lo'ak instructed the ikran to fly and it did. You were practically jumping while cheering for your friend. It was Kiri's turn but all of you were dumbfounded on how the ikran she chose was calm all the way even after she did the tsaheylu.
"You are amazing Kiri!"
You beam when she landed back, her hands pat your shoulders as she smiled at you
"You can do this sister, I know you can."
Right, the three of you failed together at your first try so maybe you'll pass this one too? Unlike them, once you pass this you'll be no more a warrior-in-training. You'll become a full pledge warrior and will be helping the clan.
"Look out!"
"Huh?"
You wince when you felt a surge of pain on your stomach that almost made you stumble on your feet. Your head snapped towards the ikran who just whip you, you hiss at it and ran towards it and jump to get on it's back. Grabbing your braid you were struggling on forming the bond and when you successfully did the bond, you soothe the ikran, letting your breath go slower and when you felt it calming down, you instructed it to fly and it flew beyond the clouds.
"Woah..."
You were amaze on how pretty the sun looks, you fly around at the top of the clouds for a minute before landing back again. When you got off from your ikran, a strong pair of arms engulf you into a hug. You were about to push him off when you felt him trembling, you look at the people infront of you and all of them just silently told you to let him be.
To let Neteyam embrace you.
》》 [ timeskip ; neteyam is 19 , you are 17 ]
"Hell yeah!"
You scream when the demon ship you just struck with your bow crash, the warriors beside you also cheered as you grin flying up again to hide on the clouds. It has been years now ever since the humans are back on your planet. With your every own eyes, you saw how they destroyed your home. Now, you live at one of the mountains in Hallelujah.
"We have secured a lot of items, fallback!"
You heard Jake's voice on the intercom and you immediately redirected the flight of your ikran towards the homebase. Upon landing you were greeted by your little brother who was waiting for you to get back.
"Tsmuke!"
"Hey there!"
You beam and immediately hug him, you notice your parents standing on the side and you hug them too. Your father and mother both step down being a warrior and decided to do another task that can still help the clan.
"How is my little sister?"
You cooed while gently rubbing your hand on your mother's belly. Yes, she is pregnant once again. You even joke to your father that maybe he just step down as a warrior so he can have moments with your mother.
"You got some bruises ma'ite. Why don't you get yourself treated first?"
"Oh it's fine. It's not that deep."
You said then you heard Jake's loud voice as you turn around and saw him scolding his two sons.
"Mother, I'll just go look at the things we gathered."
Your parents nodded as you pat the head of your little brother. You may be oblivious to it but anyone can see how you care for Neteyam. Maybe it was the day where he didn't leave your side after seeing you get hurt while passing your iknimaya or maybe when he saw a man trying to win your favor. Throughout these years a silent mutual understanding can be seen on the both of you.
"The both of you are supposed to be lookout!"
"Sir I-"
"Stop. I don't want to hear your excuses. Go get yourself patch up Neteyam. For you Lo'ak, you're grounded."
You watch and listen at the sides trying to tidy the things the clan have gathered. Seeing Neteyam about to walk past you, you hurriedly put the things down and catch up to him.
"Why do you disobey his orders? You must really like getting lectured."
Neteyam groan and rolled his eyes
"Not you too. I had enough of my father's scolding, I don't need one from you."
He said coldly and brush you off, you were taken back at his actions but didn't bother walking with him anymore. You know better than to annoy or talk to a mad Neteyam. Walking back to where you were sitting down, you went over to Lo'ak who was tending to the ikrans.
"He has eyes everywhere. You better not stick close to me or this small bruises of mine will get bigger."
You scoff at his statement and help him on tending to the ikrans, you're not dumb. You know Neteyam is the reason why you don't have anyone courting you. You know how he snakes his arms around your waist whenever you guys walk past to a group of eligible men. How he rest his fingers on your thighs when the both of you are sat down next to each other during some feast.
"His grumpy. I mean, isn't it his fault? Sometimes, I don't understand him."
"You guys grew up attach to each other's hip and you still don't?"
"Time change Lo'ak. We are not kids anymore, Neteyam's mind works in a very mysterious way."
"His grumpy because his self proclaim mate were flying with some other warriors and not him."
Lo'ak whispered his answer to you and thank eywa that you didn't hear it. When the both of you were finish, you told him that you'll just go to Mo'at's hut to get treated because your wounds are starting to hurt.
When you got there you were greeted by a Neteyam who is hissing in pain and it made you laugh seeing how he is flinching away from the touches of his grandmother.
"I see you, Mo'at tsahik of our clan."
"Mhm, Kiri go and patch the girlfriend of your brother."
"What?!"
"Grandma!"
Mo'at simply hum and Kiri giggled, you sat down across Neteyam and instantly his eyes are fixated on you. You were the first one to look away and let Kiri treat your wounds. Neteyam was the first one to get done on getting treated. He left immediately that he didn't even said a another word. You sat there in silence as Kiri finishes her treat with you.
"Thank you"
You bowed slightly before exiting the hut but you were shock seeing Neteyam sitting on a box just outside. When he saw you he got up and walk towards you.
"Next time, fly with me. You'll be safer when you fly closely to me."
You arch your eyebrow and lightly get rid of his hands that is place on your shoulders
"Why should I? I am safe even if I don't fly with you. Also, I'm getting to know my soon-to-be mate."
You smirk at him before walking towards your home and Neteyam is just standing there as if he was struck by a lightning.
'Mate'? You? The woman who he watches everyday manage to found herself a man? The woman who he shoo's away the men lingering around her? You?!
He storm out of there and went towards his home, he ignored Tuk's greet, his youngest sister, if he was grumpy moments ago then his more grumpier right now. He decided to sharpen his knife, maybe he will keep sharpening till dinner.
Night came and the clan decided to have a grand feast since they have took down another base of the humans. You are currently sitting down with your friends, chatting and sharing moments on each other's life. While Neteyam, he feels his losing himself. He can't take his eyes away from you because he thinks once he do you'll be gone from his sight.
"Really?! I am very happy for you sister.."
You said towards one of your friend, knowing she'll be mated before eywa tomorrow makes you happy. The man she loves and loves her are finally presenting their self to Eywa.
"Don't worry, Tay'lin likes you. Why don't you give him a chance?"
One of your friends said, Tay'lin is also one of the best warriors. Actually, you know he likes you but everytime you want to strike a conversation with him, Neteyam always, ALWAYS, shows up.
"If Neteyam allows. I mean, he didn't even allow you expressing your love towards the olo'eyktan?"
"Hey! Stop that!"
You laugh when you were once again reminded about how silly you were during your childhood. Even now, you can't look straight at the olo'eyktan.
"But you're right. Even now, I can feel his burning gaze on the back of my head."
"Pfft- just go. We also know you want to sit next to him."
You laugh before standing up and bidding a goodbye to them. You turn towards where Neteyam is and you almost broke out into a laughter when you saw how he shove Lo'ak on the side to make a space beside him.
"What the fuck bro?!"
You heard Lo'ak burst before walking away and going towards a girl which you hunch he has a crush on.
"Hey"
You greeted and sat down beside him, his one arm instantly around your waist pulling you closer to him.
"If you keep doing that, Tay'lin won't have a chance with me."
"Good. He should know."
You smack him at the back of his head and he took away his arm but it was replace by his tail. You sigh before staring at the bonfire at the center of the camp.
"Neteyam... what are we? You act as if you don't want other men to be near me. Or do you just do all that because you still view me as a little girl who needs protection?"
Neteyam look at you widen eyes but then he immediately look away and you let out a sigh before standing up.
"Where are you going?" He ask
"Away from you. I don't need a man who doesn't speak for himself."
You said and began to walk at the back part of the camp where you have put up the hut that you made. Usually you and the others uses this as a hangout spot. Laying on the mat that was place there, you felt someone sit down behind your back.
Neteyam followed and found you laying down on the mat, he sighs as he squat down facing your back.
"Look at me"
He softly said, his fingers caressing your arm. You close your eyes and relaxes on his touch.
"I'm no idiot Neteyam. The way you touch, hold, and look at me means a lot more.."
Still not looking at him but you can feel his gaze on you, sighing you sat up and look at him straight in the eyes.
"I know we had our ups and down while growing up, we bicker a lot but we'll aways find solace to each other's presence."
You held his hand and you notice his breath hitching but you didn't pay any attention to it. You rub his knuckles and smile softly at him
"Do you remember when we were building this hut? You told me in the most meanest way you can that I can't finish this but later at night, I found you fixing the things I scewed up that in the next morning I found you sleeping inside."
"The foundation wasn't enough so I had to fix it."
You laugh remembering how he always come at day time to bother you but then when you sneak out from your home, you found him tidying it up.
"What I'm saying is somehow, we always found our self tangled to each other... I like you, Neteyam."
His eyes found yours and he saw you smiling, your smile that made your eyes shine. He purse his lips before pulling you towards him. Your head against his chest, his hands on your back rubbing it. You let yourself be immerse to his warmth but you had to pull away. His hand immediately cup your cheeks, his lips stretch into a grin
"Who knew my most annoying childhood friend likes me?" He said, teasing.
"Hmp! For all we know, you're the one who's been crushing on me. I even thought one time that I'll grow old since no one is courting me."
Neteyam laugh and showered your face with kisses and it made you giggle, he stop just above your lips and you close your eyes.
"I love you, yawne."
He whispered before letting your lips and his touch. His one hand place at the back of your neck as he use his other free hand to guide you on sitting on his lap. You can feel all the unsaid feelings througout the years spilling at every second that passes. Your fingers playing with his hair as you let out a moan when he bit your lower lip, parting your lips he slid his tongue in and you let out a sigh when his tongue get tangled with yours.
You were the first one to pull away and his kisses trail down towards your neck. Grazing his teeth on your soft flesh, he slowly pierce his fangs through your skin and it made you whine. Seeing the bite marks he grin to himself before licking it.
"Nete.."
You called out and he kiss you again on the lips, you can practically melt into his kisses. Though your kiss stop abruptly when you heard the horn, it means that the feast is coming to and end and the olo'eyktan will be saying a few words before ending the event.
"Let's join them!"
You said and stood up while tugging on his arm, Neteyam wanted to bask in your presence more but for sure his father will be looking for him. He stood up and snake his arm around your waist and kiss your cheeks as you both walk out the hut.
"Is my hair okay? How about my top?"
Neteyam chuckle and tuck in a lose strand of your hair behind your ear
"You look beautiful, syulang. If we didn't just do all those things back there and declared our love. I would think you're trying to impress my father."
The both of you are already nearing where the others and you snickered at what he said. Slipping away from his grasp and walking ahead of him you turn around while grinning.
"Maybe I am? Your father still looks good even- Neteyam!"
He didn't let you finish and carried you like how he carries his catch when hunting. He only put you down when you guys were few meters away and his father is already giving out his speech.
"You're so cute when I tease you."
Neteyam rolled his eyes in response and captured your lips for a another kiss
"And you look cuter after I always kiss you."
He wink and the both of you sneak back on to the crowd, both sitting down on the empty seat. Your head resting on his shoulders, your hands and his intertwined to each other.
"To my son, Neteyam, who'll be the next olo'eyktan!"
You pulled away when he stood up and greeted the clan. You can't help but feel proud looking at him, then he looks at you and made you stand. Blush creeping to your face knowing what he'll do.
"I have chosen my mate, the future tsahik."
He turns and look at you and even if your attention is only on him, it's hard not to notice everyone's attention are on you.
"Oel ngati kameie."
You both said at the same time and it made you laugh, the whole clan cheered and you even saw your parents clapping while your mother is tearing up. You hug him tight as he did too.
"I love you."
○ bonus part! [ neteyam is 25 and you are 23 ]
"Neteyam!!"
Your voice boom and your mate immediately went to you leaving all the weapons he has been sharpening.
"What happened? Are you all right? Do you need-"
"Shut up! Help me with this baskets."
Neteyam immediately did what he was told to, you told him to put it inside your home. You can feel yourself growing tired as you rub your round stomach. Who knew pregnancy can be this hard? You can't even hunt on your own now. Well, it's not like Neteyam will let you.
"How about you sit down, hm? I will take care of this."
"It's fine. Just put the baskets on the table. I will chop the fruits."
"No, I can chop them."
You glared at him and he pouted.
"I will chop them and your fingers if you won't let me."
"But you love my fingers..."
"NETEYAM!"
Your mate immediately exited your marui pod while laughing, you shake your head in disbelief, a smile can be seen on your lips. When you were about to begin chopping you felt something wet trickled down and your eyes went wide when you see a pool of water at your feet.
°°
Your scream can be heard throughout the camp as you use every bit of your strength, your hands gripping tightly on your mate's arm.
"Breathe, ma yawne. Breathe, follow my breathing.."
"I will really kill you after this, Neteyam!"
Neteyam wince at what you said and wipe the sweat on your forehead
"Tiyawn if you'll kill me then we can't make a another Neteyam junior."
You scream your frustation and when your head fell back again on the pillow, you heard a cry. A cry of a newborn baby. Your tired eyes darted to where the voice is coming from and Neteyam is already holding the baby, your baby, his baby.
"She looks so much like you..."
Neteyam cooed as he place the baby on your chest, you can't help but broke into a sob as you hug your baby. He felt his heart swelled at the sight of his family. He lean down to kiss you on your forehead and kiss the cheeks of the baby.
"Thank you, yawne. Thank you great mother..."
He muttered softly as he hug you and the child of you both. This is his family now, the one where he always dream of having it with you. You, him, and the childrens you guys will be raising on the future. This is everything he could ask for.

She knew this was a bad idea from the get go. Despite the Olo'eyktan warnings to not wander out after dark for the sake of safety, his own son had come to her as the orange hue of the horizon seeped through the cave's openings to speak of a new area he found in the forest.
Trying to reject the younger Sully never really worked for Lo'ak was always persistent to take his best friend on whatever not so bright idea he had planned in his head.
Additionally, she would do anything to get out of her home. The constant berating from her mother and calling her every second to do something because her sister's precious hands couldn't bear to get rough from using them.
At first, nothing was wrong. Like always, she would follow the male and the human (a term she learned from Kiri because calling him an alien was far too mean), Spider, as he ran and swung through the trees before they stopped at a place she has never seen before. Vines that hung from the tree branches above. A question formed on her tongue but Lo'ak was already climbing up the trunk, his eyes set on a thick branch that stuck out high off the ground.
It was already too late to back out so she followed, having no idea what the male Na'vi was planning to do but she always knew that no matter what, he was going to shove off his skills as if he were performing for a circus. She didn't know what a circus was but she would always hear Olo'eyktan mumbling under his breath of how much of a complete circus it was whenever something didn't go to plan specifically because of his middle child.
At first, it was all fun and games. Despite the suspense, the fun he spent all night talking was about swinging on the extravagant amount of vines. Screams and laughs filled the air as the three took turns going back and forth on the long vine, the momentum allowing them to go from tree to tree.
They were having a lot of fun.
So she couldn't blame Lo'ak for how she ended up with her head being seconds away from becoming a meal for baby palulukans. While the other two tied the vines around their waist, she decided to be different and tie the rope to her ankle instead. Cheers filled the air once again as she spread her arms out to the refreshing wind. She swung back and forth at least three times. In the corner of her eye, she saw the herd coming from afar that prompted her to stiffen her posture. That would lead to her failure as gravity would take it's course, causing her to be hanging upside down.
Trying to untie the vine from her ankle took a lot of upper body strength that she was struggling to pull out at the moment. The two males atop of the tree too were struggling to pull up her up because of the many factors: how the long rope, gravity, and mind her language… fucking weak they are.
A scream, now out of fear, came out when she felt the snap of thanator jump through the air but missed by a couple of feet as she was still a bit off the ground.
Although there was only a handful of these little creatures here at the moment, she knew she was seconds away from the number of them multiplying by the seconds.
"Hey, hey! Help me up!” Y/N kept doing sit ups midair to avoid losing body parts from her heads. She could hear the bickering of the two from above and the vine budging at every attempt they had to try to pull her up. “You two have 10 fingers each. Use them, skxawngs!"
"I'd be nicer to the ones saving your life!" She didn’t know who did said that but that was the least of her worries since the vine did not shorten, it got longer. The snaps of the animals getting closer to her head. The probability of them taking off her head at 90% possibility now.
She heard their shouts of fear but a hum rang through her ears, cloudiness blurring her eyes as the blood rushed to her head.
In the moment of losing her consciousness, the herd had ran off in the other direction for who knows what reason before another blurred figure jumped into her view. They stepped down and stood in front of her, their face merely centimeters away from hers. Features familiar to the one of the fools that was still struggling to pull her back up.
It was when he sighed when she realized who it was. Neteyam.
From both trying to readjust how she looked while also trying to get her foot out of the stupid vine, she looked even more ridiculous when she fell into the field of grass below her from the vine cutting cut from above. Her legs and arms flared out in awkward positions.
Neteyam ran to her side, pushing back the hair that fell in front of her face and kept his hand on her cheek, “Are you okay?” His other hand quick to adjust her loincloth that went out of place.
“Yeah, I’m good.” Her cheeks feeling hot as she melted into his touch before her head flew to the side from him shoving her head.
“Now, what were you thinking?” Always too good to be true. She didn’t fight back when he helped her up from the ground.
Lo’ak and Spider came down from the tree, running over, “Brother, what a surprise to see you out here!” His shoulders folding back to mock Neteyam’s straight posture, “I see we all had the same idea of taking a late night walk.”
“Are you three insane? Are you asking for a death wish?”
All joking subsided, “We had it all handled. We’re just trying to have fun.”
“Have fun? Have fun?” Neteyam scoffed," This is what you call having fun? Somebody almost died." Lo'ak waved him off which only prompted the older male to continue," You both need to grow up. You're almost 18 and you're going to have to start acting like adults."
Lo'ak rolled his eyes," Then ask yourself why you followed us out here. Surely, you didn't think that Y/N was going to have a near death experience so why are you here, bro? What is that saying that the sawtute always say? FOMO? Fun out when more out?"
"It's fear of missing out." Y/N and Spider whispered to not interrupt the brothers' daily quarrel, eyeing one another in amusement.
Neteyam looked away in defeat that made Lo'ak proud," And we did have it handled. You came right when we had it." And although he said it with such confidence, his eyes diverted away because he knew he was wrong and he walked away before anyone could say anything.
"Handled, he says", Spider elbowed Y/N's side," The only thing that would be handled is there would be no horrendous singing on the way back."
She threw herself forward to jump on Spider but a hand grabbed her back, Spider sticking his tongue out at her before he caught up to Lo'ak. Her heart quickened again. Her eyes wandering from her arm to his hand, up his arm, and to his face.
"He's not wrong. How do you think I managed to find you? I followed where it seemed Eywa was covering her ears." Quick to act as if she wasn't staring at him when he looked down at her, Y/N shoved at his chest that moved up and down from laughter with her free hand with a roll of her eyes. Though he didn't budge, instead moving his hand away to wrap his arm around her shoulder.
She knew the way he touched her meant it no other way than platonic. Talks about the girls who also had eyes for him about how he is not affectionate towards others unless they are apart of his direct family. Y/N has been in this family for longer than she hasn't. Growing up with all of them had put her farther than what could be considered the friend zone but into the family zone.
She also knew that what she felt for him was different. There wasn't a time that she could pinpoint where she started to see him in a different light but it felt like she has forever. That she has loved him since forever.
As he talked to Lo'ak and Spider, her eyes had a mind of her own as she looked back up at him. Watching as the night sky illuminated his freckles.
_
The ride back was short but felt long. Despite Lo’ak not caring about Neteyam’s lectures, all of them dreaded Jake’s scoldings.
Y/N had to admit that he was intimidating but she knew his rough attitude was for ensuring the safety of all of them even if he tends to go a little too hard on Lo'ak. She was used to it all too. Constant lectures of how she should act and getting in trouble for the most smallest of things. At least him yelling at them was from the good of his heart.
At the moment, all she could do was simply enjoy how her arms were wrapped tightly around Neteyam's torso. Just as she was about to lay her head on his back, he angled his body so she could hear him over the wind that blew through them,"So where's my thank you for saving your life?"
Y/N squinted," Has Lo'ak misspoke? Did you have a need to fill your urge to be such a knight in shining amour?"
All the air escaped her lungs when he leaned back, "Only for you.". Arching his head back, the skin of their cheek skimming each other," I like the look on your face when I do."
"Whatever." She pushed his body back into a straight up position to hide her flusteredness. But the warm feeling had faded when she saw the rest of the family awaiting their arrivals at the entrance of High Camp.
Without a word, the four diverted their eyes away to the ground as they stepped off the ikrans. After Neteyam had helped her down, Lo'ak and him stepped in front of her to block her from the death stare their father help onto them. Of course, Spider had made his way to the front and tried to convince Olo'eyktan that it was his idea but he was quickly hushed by Kiri who was quick to pull him away with Tuk from the high tension area.
Using the boy's heights to her advantage, Y/N tiptoed to the side to try to make an escape and delay the consequences of her actions but a deep clear of Jake’s throat made her stop immediately in the steps.
"I expected better from you", Although he didn't state a name, it was clear who it was directed to. "All this time that you have to be training and finding a mate, you're instead messing around and not taking anything seriously."
"Sir." Y/N finally looked up from her feet but felt instant regret when both Olo'eyktan and Tsakarem had put their attention on her. “It was my doing. I wanted Lo’ak to show me what he’s been raving about and Neteyam only followed to make sure we were safe.”
Lo’ak shook his head, “ I actually really wanted to show Y/N and Spider this place I found so it was my idea to go out into the forest.”
Olo’eyktan sighed, “ I don’t care whose fault it is.” He pointed between the two, “ You both need to grow up. Somehow when there’s something on, it’s always you two and I’m tired of having to say the same thing over and over again especially to you.” He pointed at Lo’ak. He opened his mouth as if he had more to say but Neytiri cleared her throat and it only came out as a huff, “Don’t make me find out you’re out there after dark again. I don’t even want to look at you two right anymore, dismissed.”
It wasn't until they heard their footsteps of the couple stray far away did they look up at one another. Despite the nerves that racked their body when getting yelled at, they could help but snicker at each other's inconvenience.
"Come on, guys!" Spider waved from hut they were huddled in. It wasn't until they raced to the group did Y/N feel the sharp pain on her ankle, kneeling over next to Kiri and clasping onto the raw skin. The vine must've dug into her skin when she was struggling but she didn’t want to make too big of a deal out of it. It’d heal over time.
“What did Father go on a rant about this time? And does it even matter? He says the same thing yet Lo’ak is still going to do it.”, Kiri earned a high five from Spider on the side.
"It's so unfair. All they do is yell at me and when they look at you, they go "Y/N, Y/N, you mustn't spend such time with a delinquent.", Lo'ak mocked his father's brooding tone.
"You are a bad influence." Y/N avoided his swing through the air, making a face at him but also because the movement made her lean down against the wound.
A smirk replaced her pained look as Kiri listed out the multiple occasions in which Lo’ak did not listen to their father and how many times he was always caught.
“Y/N, are you okay?”, Tuk asked from behind, leaning up against Y/N’s back. Oh, ever the so observant. Y/N couldn’t help but affectionally rub her head but the little girl paid no attention to the cooing as she hovered over to the hand covering her ankle, lifting up Y/N’s hand, “ Oh my gosh, you’re hurt!” The girl's eyes widened, Y/N holding a finger up to her lips to shush her. Luckily, Lo’ak moved the topic from complaining about the consequences of his own actions to tease Neteyam who was quietly sitting on the window sill behind all the girls.
“Dad's all like " Neteyam, you've got to find your mate."". He teased, hoping over everyone to poke him on the arm, " Little does he know that all the girls in the village have been lining up for him and yet he doesn't care one bit."
Spider stood on the other side of Neteyam, holding his chest," Maybe he isn't into that crowd."
"Either way, we'll help you out, bro. It must be hard to juggle picking a mate while also being the best son."
"Oh shut up the both of you. And Lo'ak, you said it, not me.", He swatted at them with the cloth he had in his hand. " Besides I've already chosen."
"You've already chosen?" Kiri and Tuk gasped.
"When did you choose? How did you choose so quick?" Y/N propped hers on her knees, Tuk's body falling onto her lap.
"I guess I always knew." He shrugged," Just finding the right moment and way to tell her first. I don't want to tell my parents yet in case they make her promised to me against her will."
"Oh ~ so romantic." Lo'ak wiggled his fingers, Neteyam swatting the cloth at him again.
Y/N noticed that even though his annoying little brother was mocking him with a deep voice and making their other siblings laugh, he was staring out into the air and not even defending himself like his mind was elsewhere. She couldn't help the ache that came with the realization. He must really like this girl if he is hoping not to mess up with her.
I wish you would look at me.
As if he could hear her thoughts, he looked in her direction and she locked eyes with his. Her breath hitching as he smiled down at her instead of looking away,"What?" He mouthed.
She tilted her head and mouthed back," Who is it?"
He playfully shrugged, earning a scowl in return. Right as he was about to get up and walk over to her, Lo'ak stood in front of him with Spider. Their hands were clasped together and they looked out into the distance with starry eyes, "Oh how I love you, Neyetam." Spider spoke in a high pitched tone while Lo'ak deepened his already deep voice," Come with me as we venture into each other's bodies-"
"Lo'ak, Tuk is here." Kiri growled under her breath and rolled her eyes when she heard Tuk asking Y/N what does venturing into another person's body means. "Besides, I wouldn't make fun of him so much. He's managed to find his in a short time while who knows how long you'll take when the time comes." Kiri pointed out which Lo'ak matter of factly responded, " I don't have to worry about that. I've got Y/N. Mates for life."
"As if!" Y/N threw a pillow that Tuk handed to her to hit the male square in the face that erupted the whole hut into laugher again.
The laughter faded when a figure appeared at the opening that caused everyone to stop what they were doing.
Y/N followed their eyes and she felt as a needle had poked her balloon that was her mood, deflating it.
"Jeez, you guys are acting as if I'm a monster." Her older sister, Eyota, stood up. Her braids falling behind her back like waves when she brushed it back. Y/N knew the quietness wasn't because that they didn't like Eyota. It was farther than that. Everyone adored Eyota like how they adored Y/N. Though it was different. While they wanted to be her friend, they wanted to be Eyota's other. She knew Lo'ak's sayings were a joke because the boy has talked about how pretty her older sister is to her face and not that she cared for Lo'ak's opinion, he has never called her pretty and instead resorted to comparing her to a fish he caught the other day.
“Hi Yam." Eyota’s words slurred, making Kiri and Y/N side eye one another.
"Did she really nickname him after a vegetable?" Kiri whispered.
"Hello, Eyota." Neteyam leaned back into his previous position, cropping his leg up onto the frame.
"Hey, Eyota." Lo'ak leaned up against a pillar, attempting to cross his leg over the other but it only resulted it in him losing balance.
"What do you need?" Y/N asked, Eyota looking away from the older Sully brother and pointed with her head towards their own hut," Mother's calling for you."
_
"You're an embarrassment."
Y/N watched as her mother placed scoops of Teylu on Eyota's leaf, chewing on the outside of the salty seed.
"The Olo'eyktan." Her mother seethed," The Toruk Makto."
Reaching over to grab a handful of teylu from the middle of the table, her mother slapped it away.
"In front of the whole village, he addressed you." She grabbed away the leaf in Y/N's hand before she could retract it away," And you still sit here with no shame as you eat away all of your father's earnings."
"My love, it's okay-"
"It's not okay. She thinks she can run around with that demon and drag along the Sully boys into her troubles. Then doesn't even bother to come home after the Olo'eyktan scolds her." Her face scrunched up into one of frustration, disgust dripping from her tongue," It's because you spoil her that she's turned out like this."
The table remained silent, the sound of the crunching and chewing echoing in the air before her mother asked Eyota how she was doing on finding a mate.
She hated how gushy they sounded and how Eyota is praised for the bare minimum. Call it jealously. Call it envy. Y/N didn't care, she simply wanted to be treated with respect for once.
"I've had a lot of suitors but there's one that I'm planning to take a step further with."
"Whose the lucky boy?", Father butted in.
"Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk’itan."
"Ah the Sully boy?" Mother clapped. Father's eyes widening as he spoke with his mouth full," The future Olo'eyktan?
For the first time the whole night, Mother turned to Y/N and spoke in a civil and sweet tone," Would you help your sister? Your friendship with the children will benefit her greatly."
Hate was a strong word, Y/N loved her older sister unconditionally. Y/N would never feel that way for Eyota but it was hard not to resent the older girl when she was never defending her from their mother and was now planning to court someone that Y/N has always loved.
Unable to breathe, Y/N abruptly stood from the table and sat in the corner with her back towards her family.
"Not even excusing herself from dinner and not answering a simple question. What an ignorant child." Each word poking more and more into the facade she was trying to keep up that she didn't care anymore. Opening a book that was found during one of the raids, the crummy pages of words and pictures serving as an escape for her as her mother continued to ask Eyota about what her plans were.
_
She didn't know when she fell asleep but the book was laid out flat on her lap and the hut was now quiet as everyone else had tucked themselves away for the night.
The ache in the back of her neck reminding her of the position she slept in. Noticing that everything from tonight's dinner was still left out, she mentally noted to herself to clean up after stretching. Careful to not step on anything or anyone, she pushed past the drapes. Once the night air hit against her skin, her body convulsed into stretches, raising her arms above her head.
A rustle made her crotch her arms down into defense mode and turn to where the noise came from.
There Neteyam stood with a bowl of an unknown substance and the same cloth he was holding a few hours ago.
"Teyam, you scared me." She set her arms down and crossed them over each other to warm herself from the cold. "What are you doing out here so late?"
He held up the materials in his hand and looked down at her ankle that she had completely forgotten about. But now that it was mentioned again, she started to feel the pain searing up her leg. "Oh this thing? It'll heal."
"When? After it gets infected? Go ahead and sit down." He jumped down so he was on a lower level, Y/N sitting down on the wooden ledge. Her body betraying her again as her heart began to race from his touch. However, it was replaced when the cold ointment met with the gash. Hand reaching out to squeeze his shoulder as she hissed in pain.
"Drama queen." He nudged," You know it's kind of crazy you came out right as I was coming."
"I have a sense of when idiocy comes around."
"It must go so crazy when you look at yourself."
He caught her ankle when she moved it out to try to kick him. She kicked again in efforts to get out of his grip but gave up after a while, allowing him to finish cleaning and put Mo'at’s medicine on.
A comfortable silence blanketing over them with the exception of some hisses from pain. An unknown amount of time had passed before the cloth was wrapped around her ankle, Neteyam’s thumb running along the closing to ensure that it was secure before he began to massage the area.
“Did you like the book?”
“It was good. A bit hard to get through because there’s a lot more words than there are pictures but I like it a lot more than the other ones you brought back.”
“Wasn’t my favorite ending.”
"Really? I liked it."
"Is that right?" He took the spot besides her, sitting close enough that their thighs touched, her heart beating once again beating harder than it should be, "Care to explain?"
"I mean sure, I wished the couple should've stayed with each other till the end. But it was extremely realistic that they didn't. Sometimes happy endings are meant to be."
"I beg to disagree."
"Oh, is that right?" She mocked his previous tone," Would you care to explain?"
Neteyam scooted closer than they were before, leaning his arm behind her," I believe that even if the world is against two lovers being together, there's always one path that brings them to a happy ending."
Is there a way for them to be together? Even if her parents were going to be against it because her sister had verbally stated her want for him first. Even if she was considered to be family by his and isn't mostly likely not seen as anything more by him? Will she have the happy ending he speaks of if she were to voice her feelings to him?
"Teyam, who are you planning to court?" She held her hand up in defense," If you don't mind me asking."
"I'd like to keep it as a surprise." He nudged her side," In fact I think you'd like her. You'd probably know her the best out of everyone."
"Interesting. Is she cute?"
"So cute."
"Even cuter than me?"
He cupped her cheeks with both of his hands and squished them together, making her lips pucker out," Now who could ever be as cute as you?"
Scrunching her nose in an attempt to shake off the jittery feeling. It didn't help that when she looked at him all she was was flowers and a bright light that illuminated around him. She didn't know it was her pure imagination or Eywa was working to create a show for him.
He then lowered his tone and slid his hands down onto her shoulders, "Now that we're on this subject somewhat. What does your sister think of me?"
And it was as if someone reached in and squeezed her heart. The tightness in her chest overwhelming every sense in her body. Why did it have to be her? Why does it always have to be her?
The signs were so clear in front of her. The special nickname she had for him and how quick she was to choose him. The fact that she knew her sister the best out of everyone and how he would get quiet like Lo'ak would in case he would say something embarrassing that would ruin her perception of him. Neteyam too cared about Eyota's opinion.
When she hoped he was talking about her, he was talking about her.
_
It’s been a week since that night. Her father had stepped out and interrupted the conversation so she didn't have to go on a spiel of how Eyota liked him as well because that would have honestly taken away all of her digniity. Managing to escape the question, she bid Neteyam a good night without looking back and had a sleepless night.
Neteyam's bullshit interpretation of the book was not about her and him clearly. The two main characters are Eyota and him. For she was only a side character to their love story.
If the question wasn't obvious enough to fix her narrative, when returning back with the buckets of water that her mother had requested, Neteyam stood with Eyota in front of their hut with flowers in his hand. Talks that she's heard when she spends time with other girls in the clan about how flowers tend to be the first part of the courting phase.
Now she wasn’t going a downhill spiral where she was going to let herself fall claws of depression. No, she couldn't sit around and mope about it. If the two wanted each other, she couldn't stop because in the end like Neteyam said, if two lovers are meant to be together, they are mean't to be.
But that didn’t mean it didn’t pain her to have to talk to him, knowing that he does not return the same feelings to her and having to watch him court her sister.
At first, it was as simple as trying to be as touchy as before. Refusing to ride on his ikran together or walking with Kiri and Tuk when she ventured out into the forest. But all failed the day they went out for a swim and Neteyam had beat Lo'ak to offering her hand back onto the solid grand, his arm wrapped around her to spare some of his warmth on the way back home.
For the past two weeks, she’s been walking out of any area he walks in before he approaches her after a specific amount to not make it obvious. Thought it’s been enough times so for it to be. She’s been declining Lo’ak offers to go out into the forest because she knew in the end that Neteyam would be there. She only went when she knew Neteyam would be going with his father on another raid.
It was dumb but she had to do it to protect her heart.
There had been a time when she came close to ending whatever she was doing but when she walked towards the Sully’s hut, Eyota’s hand was running up and down Neyetam’s arm and he wasn’t budging to move it, leaning against the hut as they engaged in conversation. That pinch in her chest reminding her of why she needed to take this time to heal.
She did occasionally make her rounds around the Sully's hut but not as often as she used to, finding things to occupy her time.
She was able to avoid interacting with Neteyam easily that didn't garner much questions from anybody except for maybe Lo'ak who was used to the girl dropping everything to be able to spend time with them.
Neytiri had offered to her to come over to learn how to make this dish that Y/N had previously stated a loving for. As the two sat crouched over several cut up ingredients, Neteyam had walked in to grab a cover for Tuk which was an excuse to come in and invite Y/N to chat outside. Unintentionally, Y/N made eye contact with him. His hand coming up to wave at her but Y/N turned away and asked Neytiri what kind of plant she held. A frown formed on the boy, bundling up the cover in his hands. He stood for a good second to see if Y/N would look back up but he walked out in defeat when she didn't.
Unknowingly to them both, Neytiri had saw it all and looked over at Jake, widening her eyes as if she was questioning the interaction but he could only shrug.
The morning after, Y/N decided it was time for her to learn how to make baskets as the ones her family has were starting to wear out from use. Though it sucked when her fingers were quite cooperating, "No, 'evenge, you must go under and then over." Mo'at grabbed the straw basket out of her hands and fixed the uneven pattern that Y/N had created.
"Sorry, Mo'at." She beamed at the older woman who only humphed. Propping herself onto her knees to watch her do correctly, she hadn't noticed the two other beings surrounding them.
It wasn't until the air in Spider's mask exposed the two did Y/N looked over in annoyance," Can I help you?"
"Want to go hunting?"
"I'm busy."
"Please." Lo'ak clasped his hands together.
"No." Mo'at handed the basket back to her with the correct pattern and tightened one.
"Pretty please."
“Kiri is going." Spider included but it didn't help much since Y/N shook her head again.
"Well that's one too many for you to bother now."
She successfully folded in a one and proudly held it up for Mo’at to look at who only shook her head and fixed it again.
“Why don’t you want to go?”
“I’m too lazy.”
Lo’ak groaned and began to go on a whole rant about how even if he says that he’s tired, he still has to go. He shut up after Mo’at sent him a stare. It didn’t stop his pleas for her to go, Spider joining in. Though they sounded like whiney babies, it was all white noise to her as she tried again to weave the same pattern but instead failed.
Mo’at grumbled and snatched the basket away from her, “ Go. You are not helping and these two are hurting my ears.” She shooed them away with a wave of her hands and didn’t stop until they were out of sight.
“Cmon, Y/N.” Both of their arms wrapped around her shoulder with Spider falting off her a bit because of his shorter height, Lo’ak joked,“You’d never be a lady if you tried.”.
Just as he said that, she saw Neteyam and Eyota together besides an ikran, the comment striking harder than she usually let it. Huffing out a deep breath, she crossed her arms together with a frown as they made their way to their own ikrans.
_
The large group gathered around their instructor. Much to some people’s annoyance, specifically the ones with the same last name as the teacher, their instructor today is Jake.
The group gets divided into two with one in the ground and the other in the sky to cover as much area as they can. It's done with a team leader picking out who they want in their groups but with Jake, he tended to put his family with him and several others in his group and then the remaining in the other. He knew he could trust the others to do their job but with all of his family sans Tuk participating, he'd rather keep a close eye.
"As last time, we'll be-"
Y/N rose her hand, bowing to apologize for suddenly interrupting," May I be excused from the sky team today and stay on the ground today? I'm not feeling all that well.". The reality was that she rode with Neteyam last time and she was feeling sick at the thought of being in such close proximity to him. She couldn't be feeling those butterflies when he was going to be betrothed to her sister.
Kiri was surprised, nudging her on the side. "There's no way you're leaving me with those losers."
"That's fine, Y/N. Make sure to stay close to the group in case something goes wrong."
With a close lipped smile, she stepped back and Jake continued to state his plan, most of the group's attention and ears on him except Lo'ak and Spider that were groaning and whining to Y/N on switching teams which ended with Kiri telling them to shut up and leave her alone even though she mumbled under her breath that it'd be no fun with only boys. Y/N giggled out a "sorry" that didn't at all sound sincere, missing Neteyam's hard stare on her.
_
“Has Y/N been acting strange at all to you?”, Spider asked.
“Yeah, kind of.” Lo’ak twirled a stick in his hand, “Like she stills spends time with us but she also doesn’t. I don’t know… she’s been kind of distant.”
Kiri scoffed out a laugh, “Maybe she found out she can do better than hang out with you all day.”
“You know the "you" includes you as well, right?”
“Did you forget that Y/N and I are girls which means we have a different connection which means … we talk amongst ourselves… especially about you all."
While the two boys pestered Kiri about what kind of gossip the girls do, Neteyam took front and moved large branches and leaves out of the way for an easier walkway. Though on the outside, it seemed that he could care less about the topic at hand and was simply alert on his surroundings. His mind was else where like it's been for the the past month, no, for the past two years.
His thought were interrupted when he heard a familiar giggle come from below. Rushing to the source, he leaned over the ledge and saw Y/N. Not alone though but with another boy, Zakum, that he always found a bother because of immature he is and now he was 10 times annoying when Neyetam saw how his hands were placed on her waist and the other on her arm as to position her to aim the arrow towards the stream.
The others had joined him and watched as the arrow was wasted into the water, missing the fish. Y/N pouted back at Zakum, Zakum patting her head affectionally before they both returned back into the prior position to try again.
“Isn’t Y/N a perfect shot?” Spider frowned.
Neteyam nodded. He knew because he was the one who taught her. He was the one who had his arms around her to get a perfect stance and the one who taught her the secrets of having perfect aim.
“See what I mean? There's something wrong because if she can easily get her target, why did she miss?” As if lightbulb had switched on above his head, “Oooh.”
They then all collectively placed it together with Lo’ak and Kiri ooo’d teasingly in spite of their friend knowing how to flirt but stopped when they looked towards Neteyam, his face stoic and his jaw clenched.
The voice of their father caught their attentions through the throat microphone that they were getting off track, the regrouping for the flyers occurring a while ago.
“Let’s go.” Neteyam threw himself up from the ground and refused to look at anyone, roughly pushing away anything in his way.
_
After a successful hunt, all the members of the clan gathered around to celebrate the winnings of the day. The meat of the strumbeest and fish grilling over the fire, families happily with one another as they fed each other. Some engaging in some indecent behaviors that involved kava and its disastrous effects.
Y/N held onto Tuk's hands as the little girl guided her around the dance line. Now instead of following the traditional dance, Tuk was making her own moves and moving her feet in a different way that made Y/N trip over her own feet when she attempted to follow her.
Tuk groaned out of frustration," Y/N, you've got to get yourself together before you fall on me."
"Come on, Tuk Tuk, slow down then! You're a much better dancer than I am."
She stuck her tongue out," I know that." She proudly grinned. She dragged Y/N around the fire to follow the others in the dance line. Even though Tuk did take the dancing quite seriously, the child would never miss out on the chance to be lifted up in the air. Y/N twirling her around in the air before the both of them got dizzy.
Stumbling to an empty spot, they both fell back onto the soft cushion of the ground. Tuk rolled over to lay on her side, her head laying on Y/N's arm.
"Y/N, I'm glad that Neteyam chose-"
A small shadow that stood over them, Tuk quickly sitting up and regaining her composure. Y/N lifted her head to find a little boy holding his hand out for Tuk to take. The blue of Tuk's ears fading into a light blue. Tuk's hand reached out for the boys but quickly retracted it when she realized that Y/N was besides her. Her eyes looking over for permission.
"Go ahead. I'm all worn out."
Tuk didn't think twice before running off with the boy.
Damn, even Tuk was having a better love life than her. She scoffed to herself. Maybe she can wallow in her self pity now. As she was in the process of laying back down, something caught her off guard that made her sit right back into position.
Eyota's legs over another person, her lips close to his ears to whisper unspeakable things. And that other person was someone that surely was not Neteyam.
Fury burned within her. She didn't think twice about her actions and if anyone was going to stare at her, the trail to her older sister almost leaving behind smoke if she had faster than she did. "What the hell are you doing?"
Eyota widened her eyes and immediately stood up, the male besides her obviously intoxicated by the way he missed her arm when he reached out to pull her back down.
"What is that language? Is that what you learn when you-"
"Shut up." Eyota and Y/N both equally stunned but Y/N continued on," Why are you being touchy with another boy? Aren't you close to having a secure mate? Like Neteyam."
"Ughh." Eyota's scowl returned, "I never confirmed that I wanted him. The whole point of finding a mate is to explore and why would I stay put with one?"
"You told Mother that Neteyam was the one you wanted to take a step further with. Isn't it working out, why are you-"
"Y/N, can I not interested in another people too? Sure, he's cute and a good warrior but I'm young, let me have fun. And when have you ever been so interested in my life? Is it because yours is so disappointing?"
Y/N brushed away the last comments, "Neteyam is my friend, you shouldn't treat him like he's some kind of toy." Y/N felt her body shaking from such anger.
"Ach! Then you can have your friend! All he does is talk about you anyways. It's insufferable."
He talked about her? Y/N's face softening at the thought, unaware that Eyota was staring at her little sister weirdly, stepping back to sit back to sit with the drunk Na'Vi.
A hum ringing through her ears as if time stopped, eyes trailing around the crowds before her eyes landed on him. His gear still on from today but paint decorated his face. He talked amongst his friends, his hands motioning a ikran flying through the air. As if he could feel her stare on him, he momently looked up and then back up, interlocking his eyes with hers. The sound of her heartbeat thumped in her ears when he didn't break it.
"Y/N!" Zakum appeared from thin air, his arms wrapping around her. A tug to pull her in the direction of everyone else. "Dance."
"No, I'm okay." Looking back in the direction Neyetam previously stood, he was no longer there.
"Cmon! It's tradition. It is the way. Dance!"
"Zakum, I am quite busy." Trying to squeeze her body out of his grip but he only kept a tighter hold.
"For a quick second, I promise and then you can go on as you please."
"Go with the boy, Y/N!" Eyota claimed, tossing her head back to take another large gulp of kava.
Seeing as there was no way out of this, she stopped struggling and let him lead her to the large crowd, his hands on her hips so tightly that she could move in the other direction if she wanted to. As everyone stood in a line, Zakum faced her and mirrored the others in line.
Typically Y/N is able to keep up but her mind wandered else where, unable to concentrate. The sound of everyone's voices and the hot air of the fire being all too much for her at the moment. All she wanted to do at the moment was talk to Neteyam about what Eyota said last.
Zakum's hot breath radiated down her neck, his skin clammy against hers. His hands running from where their hands were linked to his hips. Lower and lower he went until-
"Don't touch me like that." She pushed him away, a face full of disgust clear on her face. A stunned look on Zakum's face as he tumbled back. Taking this as an opportunity to walk and finding a breath of fresh air in an empty space away from everyone, she felt herself being pulled back around to him by her arm. Both of his hands now holding a tight grip on her.
"Where's the Y/N from earlier today? The one who was practically begging me to touch her."
The Y/N earlier only acted in that way to prove Lo'ak and Spider wrong that indeed she could be seen as a woman even though it was down in a way that didn't make her feel comfortable whatsoever. When she heard the group that hide behind the bushes rushing away, she moved out of Zakum's touch immediately. Apparently Zakum didn't get a hint that she wasn't interested when she was extremely annoyed by his flirtatious ways before and after the act.
"Get off of me."
"Come on, you wanted me earlier. Change of heart?"
A pain felt in her wrists when his grip on her grew tighter and tighter each time she budged. He used his tall height as a advantage to push her back until she felt the stabs of scratchy bark of the tree.
"You think you have better options? I'm the best you have. I can prove it to you right here. Nobody's around."
Disgust ran through her veins and clung to her skin, bile rising up her throat. Frustration causing tears to brim at the corners of her eyes. Though, she didn't stop her fight against him. Spreading her firsts to push with her palms at his chest. "Leave me alone, you perv."
"Stop fighting." He gritted through his teeth, pushing both of her arms against her chest. The pressure making it hard for her to move and breathe.
Y/N shut her eyes tight. Wishing constantly in her head that he'd magically go away and hoping that a good idea would appear into her head.
Silence.
His sweaty palms being replaced by a familiar warm embrace, the beaded bracelet pressing against her skin confirming exactly who it was. Her vision blurry at first when her eyes fluttered open, leaning into Kiri's arm.
She saw silhouettes of the two men in front of her, one pushing back the other.
"Neteyam, leave him. Let's get Y/N home."
Though he didn’t listen. Everything happened so quick but in the moment, it felt as if it was in slo-mo.
The way Neteyam threw his arm back to land a punch square in the middle of Zakum's face, the blood trickling down from his nose. Zakum threw himself toward’s Neteyam’s torso to push him on the floor but Neteyam held his place, placing another hit to his face. Zakum returned the hit with one to Neteyam's side that fell weak against Neyetam's move to knee Zakum's stomach. The blow making him fall to the ground, Neteyam hovering over him. How he kept going back in, his knuckles landing each time on the other boy's face.
The two were split up suddenly by a taller male. "Stand down.", Jake's strong voice ringing through the air, his body sandwiched between the two to hold his son back from the other. Neither of them had even seen him approach the commotion, Lo'ak clearly out of breath from trying to get his father in time before the fight escalated any further.
Neteyam didn't care though. A spine chilling look in his eyes. An emotion none of them had seen before. Sure, she's seen him annoyed and upset but this was rage. A look clear and evident that he wasn't done with Zakum.
"Can't even fight his own fights without Daddy stepping in." Zakum spat, Neteyam stepped forward with his fist up but Jake blocked him.
"You best shut your mouth before you find yourself in more trouble than you already are." Jake glared at Zakum before turning back to the others in the area. "Kiri, take your brother..." His eyes softening at the sight of the blue skin of Y/N's wrist turning a light purple. As if he was starting to get a clear understanding of what had occurred not more than five or so minutes ago," and Y/N to get their injuries checked."
Not wasting a second to avoid Jake's scolding of another member of the clan, they were quick to walk away from the scene. The last thing Y/N had saw when she looked back was Zakum's parents standing, their forehead creased from their frowns and the sound of yelling being loud for them to hear from where they were.
_
No words were exchanged. She knew purely from the way her mother was refusing to look at her that she had messed up tonight.
Her father helping her apply the medicine Mo'at had given to her before she was pulled away by her family to their own hut. She did want to stay with them to assure that everything was okay especially since she was the one that was at fault and caused this commotion to happen.
"Did he..." Her father's eyes watering, his body completely shutting down and refusing to even finish the sentence. Y/N placed her hands over his and shook her head. Cries racked through his body as he with his forehead pressed down to her hands.
Towards the side of the room, her sister was sound asleep underneath a blanket, the smell of the liquor she drank radiating off of her. Their mother hovered over her, a hand reaching out to smooth out the older daughter's hair.
Oddly, Y/N didn't feel the green envy that she typically felt when she saw her mother caring more for her sister. Despite what had happened to her, her mother still repelled any sense of worry to her and only cared for the simply drunk sibling. So it wasn't worth feeling.
Maybe it didn't matter what she did. It didn't matter how much she cared for her family. It didn't matter that she sacrificed her heart for her sister in hopes that her mother would be proud of accomplishing such a task. Nothing worked.
Maybe if she realized this long before, she wouldn't have gone through this effort to distance herself from Neteyam and potentially ruined the friendship they had.
_
The chance to talk to him seemed to pass her every time. After having breakfast with her family and taking care of the aftermath of what the kava had done to her sister who woke up with a shooting headache and had projected vomited everywhere, she was stopped by Zakum who was accompanied by his father to apologize for how he acted last night.
Quick to forgive with her mind only focusing on what Eyota had told her last night about how all Neteyam had done was talk about her. She had made to their hut but she was a few minutes off as both Lo'ak and Neteyam had gone with the war party. She used that time to apologize for the events that occurred last night but Neytiri was quick to tell the girl that it wasn't her fault while Kiri reproached her for even considering that she was.
It wasn't until later that that day when night had fallen did the opening of her family's hut swished open, the youngest Sully standing in the opening. All four pairs of eyes startled and all watched as Tuk ran over to Y/N to pull at her arm, her chest heaving up and down from what seem like she had ran here.
"Tuk Tuk, what's wrong?"
"You have to come." Urgency dripping off from her tongue," It's important." She didn't look at anyone else in the room except for Y/N, her small hands barely wrapped around the circumference of her arm. Tears streaming down her face, using all of her weight to try to pull Y/N up.
"Tuk, wait. What's wrong? You have to calm down and explain to me what is going on."
"The sky people attacked." Her words jumbled as snot and tears ran down into her mouth. "I don't know what's wrong with Neteyam. Norm took him and I didn't even see him. He was bleeding so much, Y/N."
Not only Y/N but everyone in that hut stood and ran with the child to where people were returning back. It wasn't an exaggeration to say this was the worst they have seen so far. Usually people would return with as much as a scratch but the skin of several people that were being lifted past her were almost close to falling off. Bubbles littered several other people's skin, Mo'at handing off medicine to others to be able to care for as much of the injured as she can. Several people huddled together as cries were heard among the chaos hinting that there were losses this time or they had gone missing.
Her eyes surfed the crowd to find Lo'ak and his father stood towards the opening. From their posture and the veins that popped out from Jake's throat, he was yelling at Lo'ak. That she would question later but she could get a sense that Lo'ak may have been partly to blame for what had happened today.
A breath of relief to see them both standing, she was quick on her feet and followed Tuk to them. Colliding her body to Lo'ak's, not caring if he wasn't finished getting berated. Lo'ak's returning the embrace as he wrapped his arms around her torso quickly. Hearing him whispering reassurances that he was okay, she remembered that one person was missing and circumstances Tuk had told her.
"Lo'ak, how's Neteyam?" An obvious strain in her voice as she thought of the worst.
Lo'ak's heavy sigh and the look in Jake's eyes making her heart drop to her stomach, her hand coming up to cover her mouth as tears immediately came streaming out.
"Y/N!", Kiri called for her just as her knees were about to give out from underneath her. Neytiri trailing behind as they ran over to Y/N. "He's refusing help." Neytiri spoke through dry heaves. "Norm was able to take the bullet out but he's not letting anyone touch him to clean his wounds or look at any other. There's still a lot of blood."
"He's asking for Y/N." Kiri pointed. "He keeps saying he wants her and chanting her name like she's going to appear."
So he is alive. Resisting the urge to hit Lo'ak in the stomach for scaring her but she figured he knew as much as she did about what was going on.
She quickly wiped her ears as Neytiri walked over to her and placed a hand onto her shoulder. Plead in her eyes,"Y/N, sweetie. I don't know what's going on between the two of you but I beg you to forgive him or forgive yourself."
Y/N immediately agreed, finding no strength to say no to Neytiri who bowed her head as a thank you. The two guided her the box that was full of pods for avatars, all the metals in the room shining in her eyes. Kiri handed her a mask to help her get better control of her breathing from the toxins from the air inside. Her feet feeling cold against the floors and her body full of nerves as she inched towards the closed door at the end of the hall.
Silently she entered the room with medicine that Kiri claimed would sting less compared to what Mo'at was giving everyone else, the boy hunched over with his body facing the wall. She could tell he knew he was in the room by the way his ears perked up at the sound of the door opening. A white bandage was wrapped around his upper torso but the rest of his body still full of open wounds.
She walked around and stood in front of him, eyeing the large blood spot where the bullet had entered. Cautiously she brought her hand up and placed it carefully on the gauze. Feeling his stare on the side of her face, she refused to look up in fear of how her calm facade would drop and instead moved her hand down to the much gnarly scratches that littered the open skin.
With still no words spoken between them, she set aside the bowl and instead grabbed a discarded towel that she believed was being used to clean his cuts before he became troublesome and everyone had given up.
Right as she was placed the towel onto a bloody wound, Neteyam hissed in pain. She tried to go slower and dab it instead of rubbing but he continued to groan. verbally letting out grunts of "ows.".
Deciding there was no way to ease the pain, she continued to clean off the blood less carefully and pressed down on one that was still leaking out.
His hand shot up to grab at her arm, making her finally look up at him to see that he was crying.
"Wow, I didn't know you were such a baby."
He obviously didn't find that funny as he blinked away the water that gathered at the linings of his eyes, his eyes rolling when he wiped them away with the back of his hand.
"You try getting blown up and shot at and not cry."
"I'd rather not."
Usually they'd laugh but the tension that filled the room stunted their chance to, only resorting back to the static silence. Y/N looked back down at the seeping wound and began to dab at it again.
"You know you're all I could think about."
She stopped. Only for a moment before she continued to clean the cut as if she didn't hear him. Not because she wanted to avoid confrontation but she refused to believe what he said was real.
"When I felt the bullet go through me, all I could think about was you. Wondering what the hell I did to make you to so upset that you couldn't even have talked to me. And I got so scared because I thought I was going to die out there without finding out what I did wrong and how you refuse to even look at me in the eye" He grabbed at her arm again but this time by her wrist and pulled it away from she was doing, her attention as well. Goosebumps running up her arm when he inched her closer to him, peering down at her even though he was seated," Especially when you have always told me to be honest about my feelings so why is that when I am, you're upset with me? Remember thinking, is what I did so bad? If I had known you would've acted this, I wouldn't have done so."
"That’s not the point, Teyam. You say that now but you would’ve resented and I couldn’t bear have you be upset with me.” Y/N pushed his arms away from her, cautious to not be too rough. "Teyam, I just needed time to get over it."
"All you had to do with me was be honest with me. Because I wouldn't have cared. I could never risk not having you in my life."
He wouldn't have cared. It felt as if everything had shifted two steps back when they were moving one step forward.
"Then what’s the point?” She threw the towel to the side. The fury ran strong through her veins, not expecting him to be this cold about how she felt for her. “ You’re such a fucking asshole.”
"Excuse me?"
"You wouldn't have cared? Well guess what, Neteyam, people have feelings and while you couldn't care, I'd still have to sit there with my feelings for you and watch you be all lovey dovey with my own sister. And I know my worth and I'm not going to sit there and act like I’m happy for you two and watch you try to make her yours."
His eyebrows knitted together in confusion," Wait what? Your sister? What does Eyota have to do with this?"
"Gosh if I had known how bad you are with girls, I would've have gone for Lo'ak. But of course I'm one of the many fools that has to be in love with you" She scoffed, crossing her arms across her chest. "First of all, skxawng, if you like Eyota, why would you talk about me so much? That's why she's moved on from you so fast. "
A offended look on his face appeared on his face,"I'm bad with girls? I'm far from being bad with girls. If anything, I've tried every- Wait... you're in love with me?" A smirk replacing the grimace on his face.
"Yeah. Not that'd you care or anything." She huffed," I swear, Neteyam, get that look off your face before I smack you because you're really hurting my feelings."
"Oh I'm hurting your feelings? Y/N, I've been waiting for a response from you for what seems like forever. I was wondering when you would flat out reject me."
Now it was her turn to be confused," But I saw you giving her flowers. And you asked that night before what she thought of you."
"I was giving her flowers for you. Fucks sake, they even were your favorite ones. Your mother was there as well. And I asked her what she thought of me because I was going to be courting her sister so I had to make that she saw me in a good light. And before you get confused, you. I wanted her approval so that I could pursue you."
Though the picture was perfectly drawn for her and the tie of the knot becoming unraveling and untangled, she couldn't believe it. Not when her whole life, Eyota was always first choice. She couldn't accept this reality because it simply couldn't be true, " No." She shook her head. "No, there's no way you could be choosing me. Because everyone likes Eyota more. I'm the friend and you're confused but we all know that-"
"I do not want Eyota."
"You say that because she decided she didn't want you. Because you messed up your chance with her.”
A soft pair of lips cut off her rambling, Neteyam's arm wrapping around her to place his hand on the small of her back to push her closer. His other hands brushing against her cheek. Their bodies pressed against one another like two puzzles pieces fitted together.
It took needing a breath out of their masks to break them apart, her lips parted in shock.
“What does that tell you?”
“Nobody ever sees me-"
They buzzed when he leaned back in and pressed a swift peck on her lips, using his thumb to press down on the middle of her bottom lip.
“Do you get it now?”
“Maybe just one more.”
Neteyam exhaled out a laugh, standing up and picking up Y/N by the waist with no struggle. Except a grunt of pain when she hit his shoulder and warned him of his injury. He sat her down onto the edge on the bed and leaned down again to connect their lips together for a quick second, "Oel ngati kameie, Y/N. Always and only you."
She could feel her cheeks getting hot, getting embarrassed when she knew that her face had to be all purple. Everything was so overwhelming, her mind forcing her to look at other parts of the room. What deemed as impossible of happening was happening.
He brought her back when a thumb softly pushed her chin back down, forcing her to make direct eye contact with him. His eyes so full of love and a plea that hoped that she returned his feeling and it was in that moment that she knew he was being sincere. That what he was saying was true to his heart.
"Oel ngati kameie, Neteyam."

Intro:
Too young to be put in a Cryo chamber and sent back to Earth, you were raised by the scientists who remain loyal to the na’vi after the war with Quaritch. Despite growing up in a lab, you spent most of your childhood with your friends – Neteyam, Lo’ak, Kiri, and Tuk. You formed all your best childhood memories and milestones alongside them. They taught you the na’vi language, and their way of life. You did your best to keep up with them, although it proved hard in your human body.
They were always faster and stronger, not to mention bigger. Despite being the same age as them they would always tower over you, almost double your height and width. Regardless, you were determined to live the life of a na’vi, even with your tiny, frail body.
Having this exopack was bothersome, constantly getting in your way and needing to be recharged and cleaned. But it allowed you to be closer to your people, to your secret love – Neteyam. His family always saw you as the ‘lab kid’, especially his mother. Neytiri always insisted that you go back to your people when you came around to visit.
Neteyam was always quick to defend you, standing up against his own parents – something that he rarely did. He never made you feel left out, pacing himself to ensure you’d never get left behind, being extra gentle during games and always making sure to carry a backup battery for your exopack. He knew how careless you were in keeping it charged. He would even steal extra of your favourite sweets from the lab when you had your monthly cycle. You’d always had a crush on him since you were kids, but when you both got into your late-teens things became... different.
He grew much, much taller than you, always towering over you. His muscles filled out, becoming more defined as he went through the rites of passages to become a man – to become a warrior. Whilst your chest became fuller, hips wider and waist curvier. At times, you’d catch him staring at you, lingering his gaze on your chest or pelvis, burning holes through your shorts. It’d make butterflies flutter in your stomach, giving you hope that maybe he saw you in the same way that you saw him.
You spent most nights with your hand shoved down your pyjama pants, humping your fingers to your lewd thoughts of Neteyam without his loincloth on. Oh, the things you’d do just to see what he really looked like underneath. You wanted nothing more than for him to be the one touching you, to make you feel good. At times you’d try to be bold, and make a move, holding a single finger or brushing your chest against his thigh. But he never caught on, or so it seemed.
Under the immense pressure of his parents, he couldn’t spend nearly as much time as he used to with you, but you understood and never complained. You filled your time with Kiri, becoming her best friend. She taught you everything about the flora and fauna of Pandora, and made you want to become a healer one day if you could ever get an avatar of your own.
You wanted nothing more. Well, that was a lie. You wanted Neteyam more than anything on Pandora, but you’d go to great lengths to have your own avatar – to be able to become a true na’vi. Norm and Max always teased you about you getting your own avatar when you were old enough, but you never believed them, you knew how expensive they were to create.
You had no other choice but to accept your fate as the human girl who longed for a na’vi boy, and his na’vi way of life.
Unbeknownst to you, Neteyam felt similarly from the moment he lay eyes on you. He always felt a strong need to protect his tiny, frail human. He hated nothing more than when others picked on you, and made you feel less than all because of how you looked. He never cared about any of that, you were the kindest and most adorable girl he knew. You were a treasure to be cherished – to be protected at all costs.
He knew never to act on his feelings, though. Given the whole different species thing, he quickly accepted his fate as the son of Olo’eyktan who longed for a sky person. He knew it would never be able to work, in any regard. He felt like he’d break you if he touched you. But now that he’s become a man, the desire to touch you has only grown stronger.
The moments between you and him have become tense, and awkward. He’d keep a good distance between the two of you, yet he’d never take his eyes off you, always ensuring your safety. And in those moments – those rare moments – that the two of you were alone, the tension was off the charts. To the point where Neteyam started distancing himself from you even more, picking up more training sessions with his father and going on longer hunting trips.
It hurt you. To see the man you cared for so deeply never make the time to be around you anymore. You often confided in Kiri about this, as she was the only person who knew about your true feelings for him. She always encouraged you to be honest and open with her brother, convincing you that he had similar feelings. Even though you wanted to believe her, you couldn’t bring yourself to because of how distant and cold Neteyam had been.
----
“Is Neteyam coming?” you ask Kiri, watching her hook the mask around her neck.
“No, he’s on a hunting trip with dad. Sorry, y/n.” Kiri purses her lips before taking a swig of air.
“That’s okay. I understand that he’s busy.” you shrug your shoulder, trying to act like it didn’t bother you that he was always caught up with something.
She rests a hand on your shoulder, reassuring you that it’s nothing personal, even though she knew it was. “Don’t worry about it. He’ll come around soon, y/n.”
You nod, keeping your gaze fixed on your feet as you both make your way deeper into the lab. Lo’ak and Tuk follow behind Kiri, gearing up with their masks too. Kiri came to see her mom, Grace, and Lo’ak usually just tagged along to bother Max and Norm. Tuk never wants to be left out, following closely behind her siblings everywhere they go.
You were excited, hoping to see Neteyam so you could finally talk to him about how you felt. But he flaked yet again, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
“Hey mom.” Kiri hums, climbing on top of her mother’s tank, admiring her floating body.
Lo’ak and Tuk make their way over to Norm and Max, trying to convince them to reveal some top-secret information about what they have in development. “C’mon Norm, don’t be a wuss. Show us!” Lo’ak grins, giving norm a playful shove, moving him a great distance, unaware of his own strength. “...sorry, Norm.”
You find yourself thinking about Neteyam again, watching Norm’s small frame next to Lo’ak, and how you look just like that next to him. Huffing out a sigh, you look around at your friends and realize that you’re alone. Everyone’s got someone, except you. You could walk away, and no one would even notice.
So, you do.
Unable to deny the way you feel, as tears well in your eyes and your chest burns hot, you shuffle away quickly to your room at the end of the hallway in the lab.
Really y/n? Crying again? You scold yourself for being so sensitive.
Neteyam will never want me if I’m this soft. You blink rapidly, clearing the tears from your eyes as you turn the knob on your door.
You were so deep in thought that you didn’t even realise you’ve walked into a completely different room. Looking around, you realise that you’re in Trudy’s room, not yours. It’s been untouched since the war; Norm couldn’t bring himself to step foot into her room, much less go through her belongings.
Being here gives you an eerie feeling, right in the pit of your stomach. Just as you were about to turn around and back out, you notice a black, open duffle bag on her bed. Inside it is some sort of object, bright and pink, in some sort of packing with a big red ‘XXX’ on it. It’s hard to miss. As much as you wanted to back out of the room, you find yourself closing the door behind you before making your way over to the bag.
Curiosity got the best of you, making you take it out of the bag to inspect it further. Still brand new in its plastic packaging, the object is slightly bent, with some weird looking rubbery bits that rib around it.
‘Thrusting Rabbit Vibrator – Adult Toy’.
You’ve never seen one in person, only hearing about it on shows you watched that aired in the early 2000’s. It’s... a sex toy – a vibrator to be exact. You flip it over, searching for the instructions.
‘Insert, turn on, and enjoy.’
Seems simple enough. The desire to open it, to know what it feels like grows stronger. You nibble at your bottom lip, trying to talk yourself out of your ludicrous urges. Your heart quickens, thumping violently against your ribcage. Deep down, you know what you’re doing is wrong, invading Trudy’s personal space like this, even worse that she wasn’t here to defend her space.
The sound of a doorknob rattling makes your whole body jolt. You gasp quietly, turning around and hiding the toy behind your back. Norm opens the door, jaw clenched, clearly uncomfortable to be looking in his late girlfriend’s quarters. He scans you up and down, a confused look washing over his face.
“y/n? Why are you in... Trudy’s room?” he asks, not wanting to say her name.
“Sorry. I – I didn’t even realise I came in here. I was going to my room...” you babble nervously, realising that you’ll have to reveal more to make it believable, “...I – uh, felt left out, and I was too caught up in my head. Sorry, Norm. I was about to leave.” you apologize again, knowing this room is off limits.
“It’s alright, kid. Sorry if I sounded upset.” He says, expression softening.
You laugh a little to lighten the mood. “Not a kid anymore, Norm.” you shoot him a smile before shuffling out beside him, walking backwards so he doesn’t see the toy behind your back.
“My bad, y/n.” He closes the door, locking it with his key. He turns around, to see you shuffling away.
“Hey. If you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here. Alright?” he projects his voice as you walk swiftly away, heart thumping in your chest.
You quickly shift the toy to your chest as you spin around and raise a hand in the air. “Alright, Norm! Thanks!”
----
You sit on your bed, staring at the bright pink object sitting on your table, already plotting how exactly you’re going to return this thing. It’s going to be difficult, seeing that he locked the door. It would have to involve some sort of conniving plan to steal his keys whilst he’s sleeping, or something. It honestly seemed like too much, for something so... useless to him.
It wouldn’t even matter right? He’s not going to use it... Would he even realize that it’s missing? You wonder, knowing he’ll probably never step foot in that room again.
You won’t lie, a part of you wanted to know what it feels like. Not only that, but this is probably the only time in your existence that you’d have your hands on such a thing. You’d never ever been able to make yourself climax before, even to your lewd thoughts of Neteyam.
Maybe this would do the trick?
It dawns on you that all you’re doing is trying to convince yourself to use the damn thing. You stand up let loose a loud huff, frustrated with yourself. You pace back and forth in your room, burning a line into the floor with your feet, looking back at the stupid little toy every so often.
You stop dead in your tracks.
“Fuck it.” you mumble, rushing over to the table to rip open the packaging.
Finally releasing the toy from its plastic-y restraints, you bring it close to your face to examine it.
“Whoa.” you mutter, looking at all of the little nubs and ridges on the tip of it, whilst the rest of it is like a smooth silicone.
Grabbing the packaging, you fumble with it a bit before flipping it over once again to read the instructions some more.
‘Clean before and after use. Charge before use. Waterproof. Use on clit or insert inside.’
You make your way over to the bathroom and wash it with soap and water before putting it to charge. Meanwhile, you take a quick shower, thinking about Neteyam the entire time to get you in the mood.
----
“Is she upset with me?” Neteyam asks Kiri, concerned that he’s ultimately ruined the friendship.
“No... I don’t know, Nete. Maybe? She can tell that you’re avoiding her at this point. Just. Go and talk to her, okay?” Kiri encourages her brother.
“Talk to her? And say what? I know we are a different species, but I have feelings for you?” he narrows his eyes, shaking his head slightly.
“Yeah. Actually. Exactly that.” Kiri says, scoffing and nodding her head.
“Really?” Neteyam looks at her with a blank stare.
“Yes, really. Just go.” Kiri pushes him out of the tent. “She didn’t even tell us she was leaving... Tell her that I’m sorry, too.”
“Agh. Alright.” Neteyam walks willingly out of the tent, making his way to the lab, eclipse in full throttle.
----
You brush and braid your hair, keeping it out of your face whilst you brush your teeth. Instead of getting into your pyjamas, you opt to stay wrapped in your towel, seeing that you were going to get naked anyways.
“Let’s do this.” you try psyching yourself up, making your way over to the charging object.
You unplug it and fidget with the button. Pressing the button, it immediately lights up and starts vibrating, making a loud buzzing noise. Startled, you quickly press the button once more, turning it off and throwing it on the bed.
Heart thumping viciously in your chest, you feel the flesh between your legs begin to pulse. All sorts of emotions were coursing through you all at once – anxiety, arousal, guilt. You decide that you need to get in the right head space to do this.
You unwrap your towel, resting it on the end of your bed. Crawling on the bed, you get comfortable, propping up your back against stacked pillows and spreading your legs. The cool, crisp air blows against your naked body, making your nipples hard and body shiver.
You reach for the vibrator, allowing it to brush against your inner thigh before placing it on the softness of your plump lips. Closing your eyes, you imagine Neteyam, standing in front of you with nothing but his loincloth on. His stripes are so prominent, much like his jawline and chiselled torso. His muscular chest stood strong, just like his thick biceps and brawny core.
Waist, lean yet robust, back, broad and sturdy – he was everything a girl could dream of. Nothing less than that of a mighty warrior. You feel your clit jump at the mere thought of his torso. As you make your way down his body you chew on your bottom lip, biting back a soft moan.
Breath becoming raggedy, you press the button with a shaky finger, jolting when the overpowering vibration touches your clit. You imagine his lower half – his thick, muscular, toned thighs, coated in a thin layer of sheen from sweat. Feeling yourself heat up from your lewd thoughts, you press the humming vibrator against your clit, trying to find a good spot.
Squeezing your eyes even tighter, you melt into the sheer power of this toy, relaxing your tensed leg muscles. You make your way in between his thighs and imagine his prominent v-lines, that have scant, dark hair – musky with his natural scent – peaking over the band of his loincloth.
Chest rising and falling from your heavy pants, your leg muscles tense again as that familiar hot feeling pools in your chest – you’re getting close. You wet your lips with a quick swipe of your tongue, before parting them to allow little, soft moans to evade your mouth. You find your hips chasing your orgasm, bucking slightly against the length of the toy as you coat it in a thin layer of your wetness.
Working your way to his most vulnerable area, you imagine him hooking his thumbs underneath the band of his loincloth, gently tugging it down his hips. The more he tugs at the thin cloth, the more the thick, blue base of his cock is revealed. Your brows pinch at the sight, you wanted to know what it felt like, if you could even hold it with one hand.
The image of him brings you closer and closer, the heat pooling in your chest overflowing into the rest of your body, forming knots in the pit of your stomach. You always had a hard time with this stage, never getting past it – never making yourself cum.
“Oh, Nete!” you moan, “Make me cum, please.” You quiet down to a whisper, gritting your teeth as you arch your back.
He tugs the material down to his upper thighs, exposing the little dark blue stripes on his thick, veiny member.
“F-fuck!” you squeak, your head sinking deeper into your pillow as your toes dig into the softness of the bed.
He slips the loincloth down to his knees, revealing his throbbing, veiny cock, letting it slap against his belly, leaving a little wet spot as evidence. It’s so heavy, that even though he’s rock-hard, it rests, sheathed and hung, against his thigh.
----
“Thanks, Norm. I apologize again, for coming so late. I just... really need to make it up to her.” Neteyam bows his head quickly, thankful that he let him in the lab after hours.
“Don’t sweat it. She told me earlier she was feeling a little down. Just let yourself out when you’re finished talking, cool?” Norm responds, having more trust in Neteyam than the rest of them.
“I will.” Neteyam says, crouching slightly to make his way down the hallway to your door.
He looks at your door, reading the weird figures above the peep hole, ‘34’.
Three – four, that is hers, yes?
“Oh, Nete!” he hears your faint, muffled cry.
His ears perk up, heartbeat raising.
Why is she calling for me? Is she okay?
“F-fuck!” he hears your soft groan, hushed by some sort of whirring noise.
Oh shit. She sounds like she’s in pain. Maybe cramps?
Neteyam wastes not another second and bursts the door open, ready to help you in any way that he could. Instead, he’s met with the sight of you on the bed – naked – touching yourself.
----
You can’t hear the doorknob rattle over the buzz of your toy, and even if you could, you were too focused on trying to experience your first orgasm. It feels so good, it really felt like you were about to explode. Your breaths become shallow, and quick as you climb and climb towards your peak. All you can focus on, is Neteyam coming closer and closer to you, cock swinging at each step.
“Holy shit.” Neteyam breathes, chest rising and falling quickly, heart thumping violently in his chest. Eyes wide, brows raised, and mouth open, he watches you for a second too long, unable to take his eyes off the carnal sight in front of him.
“Shit.” You gasp, body practically curling up into a ball as you and yank the towel over your body and the toy. “What are you doing here?!” you shout at him, wrapping the towel around you properly as you shuffle your back against the wall.
He immediately drops his gaze, blinking repeatedly as he turns away from you, resting both hands on his forehead. “I am so sorry, y/n. I – I should have knocked. I’m sorry, I was just... coming to talk to you about something.” He babbles, gulping down a wad of his spit.
“About what?! So late?!” you shout, cheeks stained red from embarrassment.
You caught a quick glimpse of the bulge in his loincloth before he turned around. Your heart is thumping even faster, even harder. You just moaned his name.
Shit. Shit. Did he hear me moan his name? Fuck. How long has he been here?
“I’m sorry I upset you. Really. I-it can wait. I will be going now. I am so sorry, y/n.” he apologizes through raggedy breaths, feeling his own arousal.
He quickly leaves the room, closing the door tightly behind him, feeling like he just invaded your privacy – big time. He takes a deep breath, trying to steady his heart before walking away. You do the same, taking deep breaths to calm down and figure out what the fuck just happened.
Your hand rests on your chest, feeling the thud of your vicious heartbeats. He does the same, hand on his chest, leaning back against the door as he tries to catch his breath. He wants nothing more than to just go back in the room and tell you how he feels, especially now that he knows you think about him when you touch yourself.
It’s the same for you, wanting so badly for him to just burst back in your room, and confess his undying love for you. But you knew that was too far-fetched, to have the eldest son of Olo’eyktan love a simple human girl like you.
Then, why was he... hard?
You stare at the door, waiting to see if it’d open once more. Neteyam’s on the other side, debating with himself whether he should go back in there and come clean. Shaking his head, he attempts to snap out of his deep thoughts – you were naked, and obviously in the middle of something intimate. If he went back in there that’s just him invading your privacy even more. Deciding against staying, he starts making his way down the hallway.
He makes it halfway down the hallway before he stops dead in his tracks, ears perking up and expression softening.
But she said my name, right? He thinks, turning his head to look back on the ‘34’ on your door.
“Agh.” He growls, snapping his head back down to look at his feet. “Fuck it.” he turns around, storming to the door once more.
Surely, if he came all this way, at this time of night to talk to you, then it must be important. Perhaps, important enough to involve his feelings about you? Either way, it’s gone too far now. You may as well come clean yourself.
Making your way over to your door, you reach out to grab the doorknob, only to see it turn on its own. The door swings open, a gust of air blowing the loose stands of hair out of your face. Where the knob once was, is now where Neteyam’s loincloth rests, almost bursting at its seams.
Directly in your line of sight is his cross shaped ribcage, brutally rising and falling from his heavy pants. Your eyes work their way up his torso, past his muscular chest and carved collarbones, to the stripes on his neck and the flush of his cheeks. Your eyes lock with his amber eyes, searching once another in the silence.
He came back.
She was coming to get me.
You smile in unison, coming to the same realization – there was something deeper going on here.
“Hi.” You breathe.
“Hey.” He whispers.
“You wanted to talk?” you ask, hand tightly grasping the overlap of your towel.
“Yes.” He glances quickly at you gripping onto your towel, before looking away from your chest all together. He wants to be a gentleman about this. “Do you want to talk?”
“Yes.” You say shyly, also noticing his shy demeanour.
He looks back down at you, scanning your facial expression to ensure you were being serious. He crouches under the doorframe and enters your room, walking over to the bed.
Your eyes follow his every move, his every step. “You can sit.” You say quietly, finally shifting your gaze to your feet. “What did you want to talk about?”
He seats himself at the end of your bed, elbows resting on his knees and head hanging low. “I wanted to tell you something, y/n. To tell you my true feelings.”
You heart quickens once more, hearing the words you’ve been dreaming to hear. Now that he’s sitting on your bed, you’re face to face. You take slow steps towards him, standing directly in front of him.
“And what might those be, Nete?” you ask, using two dainty fingers under his chin to have him look at you.
He stares deeply into your eyes, furrowing his brows slightly as a puzzled look grows on his face.
How do I even say this?
“I – I...” he stutters, relaxing his brows and swallowing his spit, “Oel ngati kameie” [I see you]. he confesses, cupping your hand on his chin with his.
You can’t fight the smile creeping on your face. Not only did he confess his romantic feelings for you, but he did it in na’vi. He sees you, not as a little human girl stuck on his planet, but as his equal – his mate.
“Oel ngati kameie, ‘teyam.” You repeat his words, letting him know you feel the same way.
A grin plasters his face, causing his ears to perk up. He pulls you in closer by the hand, situating your tiny frame in between his meaty thighs.
“I have felt this way for some time, y/n.” he continues, inches away from your face, “Since we were kids, playing hide and seek in the trees...” he looks down at your lips, “...since I first lay eyes on you.”
Staring at his lips too, you nod, unable to respond with words.
“I do not care, if we do not ‘work’ together... I cannot ignore my feelings for you anymore.” he places your hand against his warm chest, as he inches even closer to your face. “Feel it... My heart, it beats for you.”
Feeling his heartbeat against your palm, you wrap your dainty fingers around his thumb, gently tugging down your towel with your other hand to expose your cleavage. Inhaling sharply, you place his hand flat against your chest.
“Mine too, Nete.” You finally whisper under your breath. “I-I feel the same. At first sight.” You mumble, now feeling his hot, short breaths against your lips.
Inexperienced lips crash into yours, hungry and eager for your reciprocation. You kiss him fervently, waiting for this moment for practically your entire existence. Bodies pressing together, feeling the warmth radiating from one another’s skin, you fumble with the knot of your towel. A hand stops you, keeping you from untying the loosely wrapped material around your body, he shakes his head side to side.
“Are you sure?” he breathes into your mouth between wet kisses. “I did not...” he kisses you again, “...come back for that, my love”.
“Mhm” you mumble into his mouth, moving his hand away to fiddle with the woven part of your towel once more. You stop and pull away suddenly, coming to the realization that maybe he doesn’t want this. “Do you...want this?” you whisper, resting your forehead against his.
He chuckles breathily, smiling wide before pulling you back in to kiss you again. “How could I not?” he mumbles between sloppy kisses.
Smiling into his mouth, your teeth click together as you feel the pink tinge on your cheeks turn even brighter – even hotter. Breaths heavy and uneven, you feel the thud of your collective heartbeat as you allow your towel fall to the ground. Immediately, he pulls away, looking up and down at your human body.
“Yuey [beautiful]” he says out of breath, mesmerized by the curves and softness of your body.
Allowing his eyes to linger at your chest, he looks up at you briefly, silently asking for your consent to touch your breasts. You nod, pulling his hand up to the soft flesh on your chest before meeting your lips with his once more. His hand completely envelopes your breast, kneading it as gently as he can. His thumb brushes past your hard nipple, playing with it ever so slightly.
Having someone else touch you in this way makes your body shudder. It’s your first time, your first kiss, your first – everything.
A warm tongue presses against your lips, asking for permission to enter your mouth. You grant it, parting your lips and meeting your tongue with his, allowing them to dance with one another in your mouth.
His movements become eager – more impatient. He kneads your breast a little rougher, now gently rolling your small nipple between his calloused fingers. Your body jolts from the sudden pleasure, and a soft moan escapes your mouth into his.
“Feels good, yes?” he returns a moan, making sure you’re okay.
“Yes, teyam.” You nod, moving his hand to your other breast.
Repeating his movements, he gently rolls your nipple whilst kneading your breast. It feels so good, that you can’t help but pant into his mouth, allowing your hands to feel his chest, too.
It’s just as you imagined, his chest is hard yet soft, his skin smooth yet rough, like that of a warrior. Both your hands could fit comfortably on just one of his pecks – his size in comparison to you was no joke. You feel his hand snake around your waist and up your back, calloused fingers taking in the suppleness of your skin.
“So soft” he mumbles, moving his gentle kisses down your neck.
“You, too” you mumble back, moving your hands up to his broad shoulders.
“Not nearly as soft as you, my sevin [pretty].” he smiles into your neck, before planting kisses down to your chest. “May I?” he asks, brushing his lips against your breast.
“Yes. Always yes.” you reassure him, willing to let him do anything he wants to you.
He takes your nipple into his mouth, as well as most of your breast. He suckles as gently as he can, afraid he may nip you with his fangs. Your hands slide from his shoulders, up his neck to his head, where your fingers intertwine with his braids. Using it as leverage, you press him closer into your chest, letting him know he’s making you feel good.
To your surprise, he allows his hands to fall to your hips, pulling you on top of him. It causes him to unlatch from your breast, moving his wet lips up to your collarbones. Your bare pussy is pressed against his bulge, dampening the material that covers it.
“Neteyam” you call for him quietly, feeling so good from his soothing touches.
“Yes, my love?” he responds, pulling away from your shoulders to look in your eyes.
“Can I see... you, too?” you ask shyly, breaking eye contact to glance at his soddened loincloth.
His eyes follow yours, seeing that the thin cloth is soaked. Shooting his gaze back up yours.
“You’re so wet.” he whispers, so enthralled with you that he forgets what you asked of him. He looks at your reddened face, realizing that you’re waiting for his response. “Sorry. What did you say?”
“I want to see you, too.” you repeat, dropping your hands to tug at the band of his loincloth.
Smiling, he leans back, supporting his torso with his arms behind him on the bed. You trail your eyes down from his face to his pelvis, seeing the small knot at the side of his loincloth. Fumbling with the knot, your shaky hands try their best to untie the material. He notices, resting his hand over yours before untying it himself.
“No need to be nervous, y/n. We will not do anything you are not ready for, okay?” he reassures you, untying the knot easily.
“Okay.” you nod, scooting back on his lap to make space for his loincloth to come off.
You slowly move the band down, exposing his deep v-lines and scant hair. You swallow your spit before taking it off completely, revealing his huge, thick cock. Your eyes bulge at the sight, eyebrows raising slightly as your mouth opens wide enough for a sharp breath of air to pass through your lips.
“Oh shit.” You pant quietly, surprised because it’s much bigger than you imagined.
The tip of his cock touches the middle of his thigh, the length and thickness of your forearm. Panicked eyes meet his, scared that he’d rip you in two.
“What is it?” he asks, concerned that you’re uncomfortable.
“It’s – you’re, y-you are too big for me.” your lips tremble as the words slip out.
His brows draw together, eyes squinting slightly – a puzzled expression contorts his face. He cups your cheek, searching your eyes for some sort of clarification. “What do you mean?”
“I don’t think – uh. I-I don’t think that will fit inside of me, Nete.” you stutter, feeling too shy to say the words.
Neteyam can’t help but laugh a little. “Ma’ yawne [beloved]...” he uses his thumb to rub your cheek, “...you need not to worry about that. I do not want to do anything that will hurt you.”
The words bring serenity to your chest, making the uneven thud of your heartbeat rhythmic. As much as you want to share that level of intimacy with him, you’ve only been able to fit two of your own fingers inside of you. You lean into his touch, rubbing your face against his palm as a smile plasters your face.
Always so protective over you.
Turns out, he was only half-hard. You watch in awe as his member grows, lifting from his thigh to his belly, all on its own. Neteyam looks away to hide his flushed cheeks. You notice and take this as your sign to touch him for the first time. Wrapping your slim fingers around his girth, you find that your fingertips can’t touch each other. His pelvis shifts suddenly from the warmth of your touch.
“Am I making the mighty warrior blush?” you hum, wrapping your other hand around the base of his cock.
His eyes fall onto his crotch, watching as your hands stroke his shaft. He looks back up at you, directly into your eyes.
“Maybe.” his voice is low, and deep.
You never thought you’d even be in this position, stroking the cock of the man of your dreams. Even worse, him staring at you with sultry eyes and a husky voice, telling you that you’re making him nervous.
“Can I touch you, here?” he asks, sitting up fully and resting his hand on your inner thigh.
“Didn’t I say ‘yes, always yes’?” you smile at him, shifting your hips to allow for better access.
Wrapping one arm around his neck, you hold onto him tightly for support as his hand cups your pussy, making you gasp quickly. You feel his finger part your wet lips, searching for the bundle of nerves at the top of your slit. You bury your face into the crook of his neck just as he finds your clit, rubbing circles into it with his slick coated finger.
Hot, quick pants evade your parted lips, blowing directly onto his neck. His lips plant kisses on your shoulder, tongue playing in the dip of your collarbone. You stroke his cock one handed, trying your hardest to provide enough friction for him to feel good too.
“Is this, okay?” he asks breathlessly, moving his finger down to your entrance.
“Yes, my ‘teyam.” you mumble into his neck, bracing yourself for his thick finger to enter you.
“Let me know if it hurts, my love.” he whispers, slowly sliding his finger inside of you.
“Oh! Ugh.” A strained moan is muffled in his neck, as you feel this finger stretch you out.
You shift your hand from his cock and wrap it around his neck, holding on as tightly as you can. His singular finger easily feels like two of yours, not to mention the fact that they’re much lengthier.
“Does it hurt?” he whispers into your ear.
“No. I’m okay, teyam.” you mumble, closing your eyes to focus on the feeling.
“Good. I am going to move now.” he warns, curling his finger directly into your sweet spot.
You gasp loudly, feeling the pressure already build in your bladder. It feels amazing – better than you’ve ever felt with your own fingers. Your hips buck on their own, grinding into the finger that impales you.
Little, sweet mewls escape your open mouth, beads of saliva dripping onto his chest. You’re so focused on the way he’s making you feel you didn’t even realise the volume of your whines and whimpers until he makes a comment about it.
“I like your little noises, y/n.” he says, pumping his finger in and out of you. “Are you... close?”
“I – I don’t know, I’ve never, c-cum before.” Your breath hitches, feeling your chest and stomach tighten.
Your legs begin to tremble, like they’ll give out underneath you at any moment. “Oh, Nete!” you moan his name, catching a glimpse of his ears perking up from the sound of his name rolling off your tongue.
His hips buck, too, thrusting his cock against your stomach. He’s losing it, all from hearing the sweet sounds that come from your mouth. Pulling away from his neck, you look down at his glossy cockhead poking at your stomach, then back up to look into his amber eyes.
“This is where you’d be... inside me.” you breathe, shifting a hand off his neck to press a finger under your sternum, where his tip touches.
“Whoa. Y-you are so, so tiny, y/n. I’m so scared that I will hurt you.” Neteyam confesses, rutting his hips against you.
“You won’t. I trust you, teyam.” you pant, feeling your legs wobble.
Your heads bump together, as your now both grinding into one another. He feels your weak legs shake and snakes his free hand around your back, supporting it as he lays you down on the bed.
He catches sight of the bright pink toy near your head, eyes widening.
“What is that? Where did you get it from?” he asks, still fingering you.
“Ah... haah, I – I kind of found it.” you pant raggedly, “Ngh! It’s a – oh fuck!” you moan, feeling a new sensation in your pelvis grow.
“It’s a ‘oh fuck’?” Neteyam chuckles, picking up speed.
“Neteyam! That feels weird.” You moan, eyes pooling with water from how good it feels.
“Weird, bad? Or weird, good?” he asks, slowing down his pace.
“Good! Good!” you shout, not wanting him to stop.
“Ah. Good.” He smiles, picking back up the speed, “Now, what is that thing?”
“It’s – it’s a vibrator! Fuck. Don’t stop, Nete.” you whisper desperately, arching your back against the bed. “I think – I think I’m close!” you let loose a strained moan.
“I want to taste it. Can I taste you?” he asks, already making his way in between your legs.
“O-okay teyam” you whine quietly, spreading your legs as wide as they can go.
His hot mouth engulfs your throbbing clit, the flat of his tongue shifting from side to side. “Good?” he mumbles into your slit.
“Mmmn! Fuck, yes!” you moan loudly, bucking your hips into his face.
He grabs your hand and places it on his head, you weave your fingers through his braids.
“Another... another finger!” you beg, feeling the knots in your stomach quickly unravel.
He shakes his head side to side, “’til hurt” he mumbles once more, picking up the speed of both his tongue and finger.
“Please! ‘m gonna cum, Nete!” you plead, toes curling into the sheet beneath you.
He gently slides another digit inside you, feeling the tightness of your cunt clenching around it. You yelp out, feeling a hint of pain among the waves of pleasure that crash through you. He pulls his finger back out, lifting his head up, causing your hand to fall from his head.
“See? I told you. I hurt you, didn’t I?” he asks through knitted brows, looking down at your glistening cunt sucking in his finger.
“Only a little, I’m fine teyam.” you reassure him, wiggling your hips back down onto his finger.
He clicks his tongue, catching a glimpse of the vibrator.
“Let us try this... vee-bray-tor?” he says the word slowly, as he reaches for the pink object beside your head.
He presses the button causing the thing to vibrate in his hand, shock plastering his face from the sensation of it buzzing against his skin. Your hips jolt as he presses the toy against your clit, sending shockwaves up your spine.
“Ohh, Neteyam!” you moan loudly, the feeling overwhelms you. “’ts too much...” your hips shift away from the toy, as you try to reach for his head once more.
He chuckles, switching the toy off and throwing it on the floor. “Prefer me?” he asks huskily, pinning down your leg as he leans in to suck on your clit once more.
“Mmmn, mhm!” you mumble, pushing your cunt into his face.
He closes his eyes, tuning in to the filthy noises that evade your mouth, drawing circles into your clit with the tip of his tongue. Neteyam touches himself, finally hearing the sounds that he’s been imagining every time he pleasured himself.
“Neteyam. I’m so fucking close.” you pant quickly.
He picks up the speed, now knowing where exactly feels good for you, and targets those sensitive areas. He rubs his own cock, beads of precum oozing from his tip lubricating his hand, allowing for fast strokes. He’s huffing hot breaths through his nose onto your lower stomach, giving you goosebumps.
“Holy fuck... R-right there” You let loose breathy moans, feeling the swell of your sweet spot pushing against his finger, as he curls it even harder and faster into you.
“Mmmhm” he moans into your clit, looking directly at you, encouraging you with his eyes to cum for him.
Bucking his hips into his hand, he feels his own orgasm quickly approaching. His brows tighten, feel his own knots unravel quickly in his stomach. He grunts into your cunt, finally squeezing his eyes shut as his thrusts become shorter.
You look between your legs, watching his aroused expression, now realizing that he’s pleasuring himself. It makes you feel even hotter – even hornier, sending you over the edge.
“Oh – oh shit, Neteyam! I think I’m – I’m cumming!” you cry out, shoving his face into your pussy.
You feel your cunt go into a frenzy, throbbing and pulsating feverishly around his finger.
His grunts turn into guttural groans, as he tries to concentrate on making you finish while his warm cum slowly pools into his hand. You push away his head, now feeling overstimulated from his relentless licks, for him to sit up quickly, grabbing his mask in a hurry to suck in a deep, long breath.
“You taste sweet, y/n.” he moans breathlessly, gently pulling his finger out of you. He sucks his finger, savouring the flavour of your slick.
Your cheeks heat up, feeling shy to see him taste you on his finger like that.
“That was... the first time.” you mumble wide eyed, breath hitching from you coming down from your high.
He smiles.
“I know. I’m happy I could do that for you, my love.” he projects his voice as he crouches under your bathroom doorframe.
He quickly cleans himself up so he can tend to you, coming back with a dampened cloth.
“Feeling okay?” he asks quietly, wiping the slick off your thighs, working his way up to the soft flesh between your legs.
“Yes, I’m... more than okay.” You hum softly, chest rising and falling as you try to take a full breath, feeling his tender, gentle touches as he cleans you up.
“Want to shower?” He questions, hanging the cloth against the back of your chair.
You shake your head weakly from side to side, puffy eyes blinking lethargically.
“What about clothes?” he makes his way over to your dresser, resting his hand on the top drawer’s handle, “tis a cold night.”
“Mm... rather you keep me warm.” you blabber, resting your eyes for a minute.
“My pleasure, yawne [beloved].” He smiles.
Tucking one hand under your neck, and the other under the back of your knees he lifts you up, moving you further up in your bed.
“Tired?” he chuckles softly, crawling into bed next to you.
“Mhmm.” You purr lengthily, trying to open your eyes as you scoot back onto him. “Don’t leave, Nete.”
“Alright, my love. I won’t. I will be right here. Get some rest.” He hums, pressing his warm naked body against yours.
He covers you with the blanket first, and then himself with whatever was remaining. He’s too tall for the blanket anyway, as well as the bed, honestly – he’s too tall for this whole place. Legs jutting off the end of the bed, he wraps his arm around you, pulling you even closer to him.
Heavy eyes finally closing, you snuggle into your love, gripping a single finger on the hand are rests on your stomach. He unhooks the mask from around his neck, and straps it to his face, so that he, too, can close his eyes and drift into a deep sleep.
----
Everyone was accepting of your relationship with Neteyam. Surprisingly, his parents were both expecting it at some point, and had already taken the time to come to terms with it – well, mostly Neytiri. Jake was always welcoming of you. Kiri and Lo’ak were happy you two finally hit things off. Everyone, including the members of the clan, could tell that you both had feelings for one another. Even Norm and Max were elated for the two of you, both knowing that there was something more going on between you guys. Norm knew that night would be the night for the both of you to make things official, which is why he granted Neteyam access afterhours.
One day, Norm and Max approach you and Neteyam in your room, knocking quietly on your already open door.
“Y/n. Neteyam.” they say monotonously in unison.
You both look at them, concern growing in your chest after seeing their serious expressions.
“What is it?” you manage to get out, holding Neteyam’s hand tightly, thinking something horrible has happened.
Their expressions soften, a smile creeping on both their faces before they burst out in laughter.
“Just joking with ya.” Max laughs, looking at Norm.
“Yeah. We come bearing good news, actually.” Norm adds, quickly glancing at Max before looking at you once more.
“Good news? What is it?” Neteyam asks, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb, calming you down.
“Well, it’s not like you guys don’t already know. You can think of it as a ‘mating’ gift, ya know, seeing that na’vi don’t have weddings.” Max babbles, straying from the point.
“You’re getting your own avatar, y/n.” Norm announces happily, knowing that this is your biggest dream yet.
“What?! Are you serious?” you shriek, jumping to your feet, eyes flickering between the two of them.
Neteyam is still holding your hand tightly, now standing with you, wrapping his tail around your leg. Ever since you revealed your feelings to one another, Neteyam has rarely left your side, always making sure he’s near you – protecting you. You were his mate now, nothing less.
“Yep. She’ll be ready in about four months.” Max smiles, proud that he could pull the strings to get his favourite girl her own avatar.
“Oh, Max. Norm.” your voice cracks, tears welling up in your eyes. “Thank you, guys. I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate this.” You walk swiftly towards them to give them both a big hug.
Neteyam reluctantly lets go of your hand and leg, but follows closely behind you, towering over the two men. He wraps his tail around your leg once more, always needing to touch you in some way.
You hug them both, tippy toeing to squeeze their necks as hard as you can – to show how much you really appreciate what their doing for you.
“Thank you, Max, Norm.” Neteyam says, smiling and bowing his head at them both.
“Our pleasure, guys.” Max and Norm chant together. “C’mere Neteyam.” Norm smiles, pulling Neteyam into the hug.

“The way I feel about you, is the how you feel about her.”
Avatar : the way of water
Pairing: Neteyam x Reader
One shot: Y/n has been in love with Neteyam her whole life. He was her mighty warrior. You’re both 19 and expected to pick a mate. Despite being right in front of him, Neteyam’s eyes have always been drawn to a different girl in the village.this is based of a song I heard today “her” by Sophia Scott. Please listen while you read.I’ll let you know when to start playing it.
Themes: sad, angst, unrequited love, jealously
Tumblr media
You and Neteyam were flying your Ikrans, it was almost eclipse and you wanted to go on one last ride for the day.
“Come on Nete! We’re almost there!” You yell glancing over your shoulder.
There he was your mighty warrior flying right behind you.
“Slow down! Y/n! You’re going to crash” he laughed at you, with your adventurous spirit he didn’t understand why you were so close to him. Lo’ak would probably be a better fit to satisfy your need for adrenaline.
What Neteyam didn’t know is when you were close to him your adrenaline felt as if you had dived off a mountain. You had loved him all your life. You first met when you were kids.
...
You were climbing a tree and claimed it as yours. One day Lo’ak, Kiri and Spider had stumbled across the same tree. You were high up playing by yourself.
“Hey! That’s our tree get down!” Lo’ak yelled
Your head snapped down to the two Na’vi and a human? You had seen humans before but never this close. Your mother didn’t like you around them. You slowly started to make your way but not all the way just enough to talk without yelling.
“This is my tree! You go away!” You furrowed your brows, you knew he was Lo’ak the youngest son of the Olo’eyktan. But that didn’t mean you were going to give up your tree.
“Please? We really like this tree. We found it yesterday.” Kiri spoke not wanting to fight.
“Kiri! Shh! This has always been our tree.” Lo’ak whispered. You narrowed your eyes, you didn’t like liars.
“Well this has been my tree for 1 week now. So it is mine.” You stuck your tongue out. You sat down on a low branch. Swinging your legs, your tail flicking side to side, a little nervous.
Quickly Lo’ak jumped up and grabbed you by your tail. Making you fall backward off the tree, and you fell to the ground hard. You winced.
“Lo’ak!” you heard an unfamiliar voice, it wasn't one of the adults which was good.
You didn't turn to even look at the voice and you tackled Lo’ak. You both rolled around but you ended up on top pinning him down, you were older so just a little bit bigger than him.
“That was mean!” your eyes brimmed with tears. Lo’ak eyes widened, he didn't want to make you cry. He felt bad. Before he could say anything you were being picked up gently. You tried to turn but the strong arms around you kept you still.
“What is going on here?” your ears flattened back, a boy was holding you. You have never been held by a boy. A blush coated your cheeks.
“Lo’ak wanted this tree and she didn't want to move” Kiri was annoyed, she knew Neteyam was going to give them a speech. He was only 8 yet had the moral compass of a saint.
The strong arms put you down and turned you around to face them. It was the first time your heart ever stopped for Neteyam and it wasn't the last. He was beautiful.
“Are you okay? I'm Neteyam. Sorry about my brother.” He smiles at you and your knees went weak.
“Woah. Do you need to see Tsahik?” he helped you stand up again.
“N-no, I'm okay. Thank you.” you couldn't look into his eyes. He nodded and let you go. At that moment, you wanted to collapse so he would hold you again.
“Lo’ak, if you apologize I won’t tell mother and father.” He put his hands on his hips, while he addressed his brother with a serious tone. Kiri and Spider chuckled, Neteyam always so serious.
Your eyes widened. At that moment you fell in love for the first time. This Neteyam, he stood up for you, held you, and was very beautiful. Your 8-year-old heart decided that one day. He would be your mate.
“I’m sorry.” Lo’ak looked at you, “we can share the tree?” He offered as a peace offering.
A grin broke out on your face.
“Yes! Let's play. You too.” you reached for Neteyam’s hand and lead him to the tree. You weren't letting him go.
...
You felt Neteyam’s Ikran land next to yours. You sat down on the ledge of the mountain. You always loved high places. He saw down close next to you, thighs brushing together.
“We’re getting too old to sneak off Y/n.” Neteyam chuckled. You immediately frowned. You hated being reminded of your age. 19. You were both over due to pick a mate. Especially him.
He was the future Olo’eyktan, he should’ve picked his mate by now. You of course hadn’t picked because well, you wanted him. It wasn’t fair to mate with anyone else when your heart completely belonged to Neteyam.
“Ah, why the frown.” Neteyam bumped your shoulder. You forced a smile back on your face.
“Ah you know I hate the idea of growing up.” you shook your head.
“I know, I know. I'm sorry.” Neteyam didn't understand why it upset you so much. You were at the best part of your adulthood, both one of the people, warriors, and you could pick a mate.
“I just don't want us to grow apart.” you ducked your head down, to hide your eyes from him. Sometimes you were scared he would see how you truly felt about him.
“Oh Y/n” he turned and hugged you.
You buried your head in his shoulder, wrapping your arms around him. You loved when he held you. It didn't often happen now that you were older. It was crazy to feel the difference; when you were younger, he was smaller and skinny. Now he was way taller and muscular. In the moments he did hold you, you wished you could stay like this forever.
“You will ways be my best friend.” You placed your forehead on his shoulder. Ouch. You hated it. Hated the idea of just being a friend. But you’d would rather be a best friend than lose him all together. When the time came and he chose a mate, you probably wouldn’t be able to share moments like this anymore.
“Thank you, Neteyam.” He pulled away from you and you missed his warmth.
“Can I ask you something?” He had a serious expression on his face.
You shifted uncomfortably. You tried to make your heart settle. Every time he got serious you wished it was him about to confess his love for you. You knew though. He was never going to.
“Yes, anything Neteyam.” you smiled
“Ah...” he looked away, blushing. You tilted your head at him. “I just figured since, y-you're a girl.”
“Yes. Yes, Neteyam, I am a girl.” you chuckled nervously. What was this about?
“How do you think a girl would want to be asked to be my mate?”
Your heart sunk to the deepest part of pandora’s forest. You swear you could hear the crack appearing on your heart.
“W-what?” your voice was soft. It couldn't be, he wasn't talking about-
“Neriaya.” you slowly looked away from him, “you know how I feel about her, and I think she may feel the same.”
You took a deep breath, tears emerged their way into your eyes and forced them back. You wouldn't cry in front of him. Neriaya. Of course. You knew already. How could you not? You watched everything Neteyam did. You didn't fail to notice his blush when Neriaya spoke to him, how he would stand a little straighter when she passed him, how he would stare.
He had always had his eye on her and you had your eye on him. You hoped that as you got older he would notice you. Maybe you could change his mind and start to fall in love with you instead . Looks like your time had run out.
“Neteyam, any girl would love to be your mate. Whatever you choose to do, she will love.” You stood up. You wouldn’t torture yourself like this. There was no way you were helping him plan this. You couldn’t.
“I was hopping maybe you could help me though?” You dared to look at him, hoping your mask wouldn’t falter. His eyes were hopeful and excited. No. You couldn’t do this.
“I’m not very romantic. Ask Kiri. Let’s go. It’s almost dark.” You jumped on your Ikran, waiting for him to mount his before you took off. You flew fast ahead of him, tears escaping, the wind cleaning them off your cheeks for you.
Neteyam was a bit confused. But he figured you were just worried about getting in trouble, this would’ve been your third strike with your mom. He laughed at the thought.
The next couple weeks, 2 and a half to be exact, not that you were counting. You distanced yourself from Neteyam. Now that he expressed his plans to ask Neriaya to be his mate, it was too painful. You didn't want to hear or even think about it. Being away from him was the only way. Yesterday you caught the two of them talking quietly after dinner. The way he looked at her made you crumble. You walked to your hut, thank Ewya your mom wasn't there. Because you collapsed to the floor and cried. You cried for the 8-year-old girl, who you promised that he would be your mate. You also cried for yourself. The 19-year-old girl who was in love with Neteyam.
Neteyam didn't understand why you had been so distant. He was kind of upset honestly. You were his best friend, he had confessed his intentions with Neriaya. Why weren't you excited for him and helping him? Honestly you avoiding him upset him to his core. He felt off the past week's without you by his side. There was even a moment where you pasted right by him. Without even a glance. He just shook his head. What was wrong?
He knew once he mated with Neriaya, he wasn't going to be able to spend much time with you. The thought of not seeing you every day hurt him, he hated how it made him feel. But he would have Neriaya. His parents always talked about her to him. How pretty she was, a good hunter, and how she could be a good Tsahik. To Neteyam, he knew if chose Neriaya, his parents would be proud and happy. He from then on he pictured Neriaya as his mate.
She was everything his parents said she was. Neteyam could tell Neriaya would be shy when he talked to her. She was nice and easy to talk to, Neteyam wasn’t necessarily eager to mate, he brushed it off when he turned 18 but when he heard his parents talking about the fact that he hadn't chosen a mate. He knew he has no choice but to do it now.
Today, he had finally had enough of your ignoring game. He started looking everywhere for you and he eventually found you with Kiri doing her hair.
“Hello.” Kiri smiled at his greeting her brother. Neteyam watched you carefully as you looked up from Kiri’s hair to him. You had a look on your face he couldn't decipher it, it made he angry. He knew you better than everyone else. What was wrong?
When you looked at him it was a mix of emotions. Happy to see his face, sad to know you were losing him, and jealous that someone else gets the privileget love him.
“Neteyam,” you spoke quickly and went back to the braids. Kiri raised an eyebrow and knew this wasn’t going to end well. Y/n didn’t have to say but Kiri knew you were upset about Neteyam’s plans. Kiri didn’t understand how you didn’t tell Neteyam you loved him or how Neteyam didn’t notice.
“Y/n is doing my hair.” she quickly interject after the 15 seconds of silence.
“Uh y-yeah. Maybe you could do mine after?” his eyes shot to the floor.
Kiro rolled her eyes. Oh hell no. She thought breaks Y/n’s heart and can't even look her in the eye?
“She just started. It will take forever. Maybe ask Neriaya?” Kiri’s eyes were challenging. She wanted to push her brother. What would he do?
You sat there silently, not wanting to comment. Kiri even suggesting Neriaya doing Neteyam’s hair hurt. You used to do his hair.
“I can wait.” He searched your eyes, willing you to look at him and you did. Those orange eyes melting you.
“Yea.” you nodded, you would usually be happier but instead you held your composer. This didn't change anything between the two of.
It took you 30 minutes to do Kiri’s hair. You and Kiri just talked while Neteyam sat with his eyes closed against the wall. When you turned to look at him he was asleep.
“Well, so much for waiting” Kiri laughed before walking out of the hut.
You watched her retreating form and turned back to Neteyam. You knelt down beside him and looked at him. He looks so calm, his chest rising and falling. You brushed away the braid that fell on his face. You chuckled, he really did need his hair done. You sighed and got up.
You felt a hand snap onto your wrist. You jumped and looked down. Neteyam was looking at you through sleepy eyes.
“Ah, I'm sorry. I dozed off but I'm ready.” he's sat up quickly and started to undo the beads.
You knelt down slowly. His back to you.
“Okay, lay back when you're ready.” you twirled your own braid around your finger. (Play song)
You noticed movement and Neteyamms strong back was coming down toward you. His head hit your thighs and his eyes peered up at you. He was so handsome. You licked your lips nervously and started to get to work.
“Y/n..” Neteyam started but stopped. You didn't acknowledge it. Didn't ask for him to repeat himself. You didn't want to talk. You wanted to enjoy the feeling of him being yours. Or pretending he's yours.
Neteyam closed him eyes and took a deep breath. Your fingers felt great, but he couldn't shake the weight on his chest. He hated this tension. Usually when you did his hair it was non stop laughing, you slapping him to stay still. He missed it. He missed you. He opened his mouth again.
“Kiri talked my ear off, I'll let you know when I'm done.” you said quietly not giving him a chance to speak.
He gave you a tight smile and closed his eyes again.
...
“Done.” you finally spoke after almost an hour. His hair was longer than Kiri’s. He didn't respond. He's asleep again. You shook his shoulder gently.
“Neteyam?”
His eyes fluttered open and a small smile started to form. He looked at you, you looked so pretty.
“Hi.” he then remembered he was in your lap and that you did his hair. He sat up quickly and stood up. You looked up at him with furrowed brows. Okay...
He blushed. Why did he do that? You had braided his hair thousands of times. He never felt nervous. It was probably the tension between the two of you. He was fixing that today.
“Y/n. I want to talk.” he sighed.
“Neteyam-” you huffed ready to shut him down.
“Not here. Come on” he grabbed your hand and led you towards the ikran. You whipped your hand away.
“Neteyam!” you whisper yelled. It was late in the afternoon. Na’vi roaming everywhere getting ready for dinner. What if Neriaya saw them holding hands?
“What? Come on.” Neteyam kept moving. You felt people looking at you, so you followed him. Not wanting to cause a scene.
...
You landed your ikran next to Neteyam’s, you were fuming. How dare he. How dare you push this conversation on you.
“What is wrong with you?!” you yelled at him as soon as your feet hit the ground marching toward him.
“Me? What's wrong with you!” he yelled back. He was frustrated. This wasn't him.
“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell.” he immediately felt bad. He never yelled at you.
“I didn't want to talk right now! Why are you doing this? You have other things to worry about right now.” your voice softened at every sentence. No longer mad. Just sad and frustrated. You were tired of hurting.
He walked forward and grabbed your hands. Bending his neck down a little to look you in the eyes, his hair brushing your wrists.
“Y/n right now I need you more than ever. You're my best friend. I need your support right now.”
A confused expression passed along your face that turned into exhaustion, eyebrows bunching together.
“Neteyam. I-I’m sorry but I can't be there for you with this.” you tried to yank your hands away but his grip held you.
He shook his head side to side, mouth dropping open a little.
“Y/n, everything was fine between us. What happened? I feel like you're keeping your distance, like you don't want to be around me. You're my best friend.” His voice dropped low, he swallowed hard getting emotional.
You couldn't take it anymore. You couldn't hear the word best friend again. Your knees buckled. Neteyam caught you, lowering to his knees as well. His eyes widened.
“Neteyam please.” your voice cracked, and your head was low. Shielding your face from him.
“Please don't ask this of me. You cannot ask for this.” the weight of carrying all these feelings was finally catching up to you, it was too much. It was just spilling all out.
He pulled you to his chest when you started crying but you used your arms to create distance. Your hands pushing against his shoulders.
“Y/n talk to me.” you couldn't help him? You couldn't be there for him with his mate?
“I can't do this anymore Nete.” his heart broke hearing his nick name. He missed it.
“I can't help you, or be around you or even go to the ceremony.” tears spilled over your cheeks. He tried to force your head up but you shook him off and continued. He was lost.
“I- I wish that I could've told you how I felt and if only you knew how it breaks my heart, it breaks my heart to know you love Neriaya.” you looked up at him finally. His eyes were cloudy with tears as well. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Did this mean you..?
“Y/n are you saying?” his voice was shaky. He felt his entire world flip upside down. “Y/n-”
You cut him off.
“So no. No Neteyam. I cannot be there for you. Because the way that I feel about you. Is how you feel about her.” you wiped tears from your face and stood up.
He stood up with you, his hands still attached to your forearms.
“I -Y/n... This is.. I don't-” He stuttered. He was so thrown off. You? You loved him?
“You don't have to say anything. You are going to be mated to Neriaya. That's okay. I want you to be happy. But I won't do it Neteyam. I won't break what is left of my heart for you.” you were numb. You felt as if you had poured all the emotion you had left out to him.
“Why didn't you ever..why didn't you tell me?” Neteyam couldn't stop staring at you. He always thought you were beautiful but did he see you as his mate? Did he have feelings for you? The same way he felt about Neriaya? Did he even love Neriaya?
Because how he felt in this moment. This is what he would describe heartbreak to be. Your tear-stained face. Puffy eyes. The weight of your words. He was losing you. He was losing his best friend. He was losing you forever.
“Neteyam, you've always looked at Neriaya. Always drawn to her. I knew and I thought being your best friend would be enough but it's not.” your tone was flat. It scared him, some emotion was better than none. He hated this. He hated that he made you feel this way.
“Y/n, please let's talk about this.” he was desperate. He didn't know if he truly had feelings for you but he knew he didn't want to lose you. He wanted you as close as possible at the moment. He didn't want you to walk away. Not from him.
He didn't think. He just pulled you to his arms.
You went from zero emotion to one hundred emotions to then only one. Anger.
“Enough!” you yelled. “Enough! Enough!” you pounded on his chest forcing him to let you go.
“Neteyam enough. No more. There is no saving this. There is no fixing this. There is no us!“
He let you go and you instantly put distance between the two of you stepping back.
“Y/n please. Yes, we can. We can fix this.” He held his arms out as he talked.
“Do you have feelings for me?” your voice was barely above a whisper. But somehow he heard you. He just stared at you.
“Well?” you raised an eyebrow. You really like to torture yourself.
“I-I don't know.” his arms dropped to his sides.
“Neteyam.” you took a step towards him. A small one but enough for you to be able to see those beautiful eyes.
“I see you. I love you. And because of that I can't do the best friend thing with you. Enough. Please” and with that, you turned around and jumped on your ikran. Just like that day a couple of weeks ago. You wiped the tears from your eyes except this time It was a lot more painful.
Neteyam collapsed to his knees. Head in his hands. He had lost you. He started to cry. How was he going to fix this? He knew he needed you. He needed you to survive. But did he have feelings for you?
....
Sorry! Don’t hate me! I just was so inspired by this song. Should I make a part two? I'm also working on 2 other requests so to the people who requested them, they are in the works don't worry.
PART 2 is finally up!

You always started off your mornings with a swim around the reef, either with your younger sister Tsireya or alone. Usually when you’re alone you’re able to clear your mind and prepare yourself for the day ahead of you, and when you aren’t alone your little sister is either making you collect shells with her or trying to race you. This morning she had joined you, making you race her back and forth. Your little sister brought out the best in you, she was actually the only person who saw this side of you. The smiley, gushy, not so strict side. Considering you were the next Tsahìk and the eldest daughter of the clan leaders, you had a reputation and image you needed to protect.
Nobody ever messed with you, or your siblings. Everybody knew better, you weren’t the one they wanted on their bad side. Taking after your father, Tonowari you’ve always had that persona.
“I think something is going on. We should head back.” Tsireya signed to you.
You nodded at her, making your way back towards the beach. You two hadn’t gone out far so the swim back wasn’t too long, as you emerged from the water your heart rate went back to normal after seeing that everything was fine, and your clan wasn’t in any type of danger. You flipped your wet dreads back as you looked at what causing all the ruckus, locking eyes on an unfamiliar face.
Within that moment it felt like time stopped, he was beautiful. He was the most beautiful thing you’ve seen, maybe because you haven’t seen anything like it before. His golden eyes, the darker blue for skin, the way his hair was neatly braided with a few beads here and there. You made eye contact with him but quickly broke it as you noticed the others around him, two girls, a boy and their parents obviously. You had noticed the younger one caught the eye of Tsireya as she giggled and waved at him.
“Tsireya.” You scolded and she quickly stopped what she was doing, walking beside you as you approached them.
Your father was in the middle of talking to the man and his mate when you noticed your idiot brother and his friends messing with the two boys, teasing them like they had no sense.
“Tìftang!” You hissed, getting your brothers attention. He turned around and rolled his eyes, you slightly hissed at him again as he walked away.
You stood looking at the two boys, circling around them and their eyes never left yours. You stopped at who you assumed was the eldest, he stood a little taller than you but that didn’t mean anything. You looked him dead in his golden eyes before examining his body, big muscular arms, four fingers, golden freckles on his face. You walked over to the little version of him, the only difference being he had five fingers—
Demon blood.
The two boys extended their fingers from their foreheads at you, you blankly stared for a minute, but you finally did it back before walking over to your siblings. Your mother was going on a rant about the family being infected with demon blood, which was prone to happen.
“They are not real Na’vi!” Your mother yells and the crowd gasps, soon after she was clutching her stomach.
“Mother.” You said lowly, walking over to her. You had told her earlier that she needed to be off her feet, resting, “We need to get you off of your feet, to rest.”
She looks at you like she wants to scold you for interrupting her, but she knew you were right.
She grabs your arm as you lead her back to your home, just as your father announces that the family will be staying. Your mother hisses as you help her sit down on a mat.
“You watch over them, keep them in line. All of them!” Your mother began to talk, “You will teach them the ways of the Metkayina.”
“What about my duties with you?” You asked.
“My child, do not question me. You know what you are doing, and you will be a great Tsahìk when it is your turn, right now just do as I ask of you.”
“Yes ma’am.” You nodded, walking out of the pod.
You watched as the crowd emerged and Tsireya showed the family to where’d they’d be staying, you walked down on the beach thinking about what the first lesson would be. The ways of The Metkayina. Swimming obviously, breathing underwater, fishing, communicating under water.
“I already informed your sister about the training, please watch over your brother.” Your father interrupted your thoughts, “Yes sir.” You replied, seeing Ao’nung talking with his friends.
There was no way you were doing this alone, there was too many of them to train by yourself. You approached the group of the boys, them seizing their conversation as soon as you got in their sight.
“I care nothing about your stupid little conversation.” You look at all of them, “You. I expect nothing but the absolute best from you, do not embarrass us. You will be helping me train them our ways.” You point at Ao’nung as his friends laughed, “Rotxo, you too.”
Rotxo was a good kid, you treated him like family. Why was he bestest of friends with your idiot brother you didn’t know. You guess you can say that Ao’nung is a good kid too, deep down. This little tough guy act was nothing to you, you knew how you and your siblings were raised.
“Sister, how do you expect us to teach those freaks our ways?” Ao’nung asks as him and Rotxo follow behind you.
You whip your head around, “Ao’nung! Do not call them that, they are not freaks. Just different. Different from us, you must accept that.”
He smacks his teeth, and you ignore his antics as you looked around for a secluded part on the beach, after scanning for a moment you found some rocks that you could all sit on. Soon after Tsireya was walking back with the group, quickly approaching where you stood.
“This is my big sister. She is next Tsahìk. Warrior, powerful healer, and great swimmer. She will be teaching you all our ways.” Tsireya smiles as she introduces you, “And I know it may look it, but I promise she does not bite.”
Everybody seemed to remain quiet, except for the youngest one who was making her way towards you, ignoring her siblings calling and reaching after her.
“Your hair is really pretty.” She smiled up at you, “Thank you, so is yours.” You smiled back, “What is your name?”
“Tuk.”
You had a soft spot for little kids, all the kids around the village loved you. Constantly teaching and playing with them. Just because nobody messed with you didn’t make you a bad person, you’re not a bad person. Just intimidating, when you needed to be.
You outstretched your arm towards her, and she grabbed your hand, “Come, all of you.” You say to the group as you begin to walk.
You led the group to the rocks, and everybody got situated and comfortable as you began to speak.
“Before you all even begin in the water you must master your breathing, it is the most important thing.” You spoke, “Once you are good at this we can start in the water.”
“How about we just put everybody in the water now to see what they know.” Ao’nung chuckles as he leans against a tree.
“Once we get to that, Ao’nung, you will start off the training.” You look at him out the side of your eye, “Now let’s begin.”
You all practically sat in a circle, you started to meditate with the group, helping them when needed. The two girls, Kiri was her name and Tuk had caught on quickly—especially Kiri. You let the two go to the water after a while, they were the only two who had almost mastered the whole thing. As for the two boys, it was taking forever. You watched from afar at first, watching as the younger brother struggled simply because of your sister's presence and the other was too busy laughing at his brother to focus.
“You! What is your name.” You approached the boy, sitting in front of him.
His laughter stopped and he looked at you as you sat in front of him, “N-Neteyam.” He spoke.
“Okay Neteyam, you need to focus. You are breathing from here.” You place your hand on his hard chest, “When you need to be breathing from here.” You placed your other hand on his lower stomach.
“Okay.” He breaths out, his heart beating out of his chest.
“Your heartbeat is too fast. Relax.” You scolded, “I am trying.” He replied.
Tsireya seemed to be having the same problem with the younger one, Lo’ak is what you heard her call him. You tapped her on the shoulder signaling for you two to switch. The boys' heart was trying to escape from his chest, and you couldn’t help but chuckle at the affect your younger sister had on him.
“Breathe with me, Lo’ak.” You slightly hit his shoulder since he was looking over at his brother, “Remember, from down here.”
The boy's heartbeat regulates and you two breathe in sync, he wasn’t the best at it but it was improvement. You wanted to have everybody in the water today before eclipse, which would be happening in the next hour or so.
“We are going to head to the water now, you two stick by us. I do not need anyone drowning.”
You all got into the water and joined the others who had already been swimming back and forth and on the Ilu.
“Woo!” You called, clicking your tongue for the Ilu you had been riding your whole life and she came jumping out the water, circling everybody.
“This is Eymei. She is a showoff.” You smiled, “In order to become one of us, you have to learn how to ride. Lo’ak, I want you to start us off.”
He hesitated, looking over at your sister and she shot him a smile before he made his way over towards you. You held Eymei steady so that he could climb on.
“Regulate your heartbeat and make the bond.” You tell him, “Just breathe, Lo’ak.” You hear your sister tell the boy.
He takes a deep breath and grabs his queue, connecting it with Eymei’s, and with that the two were off. The boy was doing well at first until he had gotten underwater, you all had watched him in the distance as he landed face down in the sand.
Everybody laughed at the boy, Tsireya swimming over to him while Eymei swam back to you. You swam back up to surface and everybody’s laughter simmered down when they saw the boy was genuinely upset with how he had done.
You tried not to roll your eyes, “Lo’ak, you are not going to perfect it your first try, it is not the end of the world. Some things just take time, that is all.”
He didn’t respond, only shrugging before swimming over to his sisters.
“Neteyam.” You say, signaling that he was next.
He quickly swam his way towards you, jumping up on Eymei without your help. He connected his queue with hers, his breathing slowly down as he took a deep breath, just as his brother had done. Within the blink of an eye, he was halfway out your sight, quickly going under water you watched as the boy didn’t struggle at all. At one point he was out of everybody’s sight, you were about to get worried, fingers going up to your mouth to call another Ilu until you saw him appear again, emerging out the water into midair with your Ilu—though technically, she’s not really yours but you were the only one who did tricks and such with her.
They landed back in the water, and everybody cheered, (with the exception of you, your brother and his younger brother) as Neteyam hopped off the Ilu and back into the water.
“We seem to have another show off on our hands.” You say, the smile he had on his face dropping slowly, “That is all for today. Eclipse is soon, everyone will meet here tomorrow first thing in the morning.”
You all said your goodbyes and went your separate ways, Ao’nung walking Rotxo to his pod as you and Tsireya returned to yours.
“What do you think about them?” Tsireya asked you, “The girls are great, it is the boys we are going to have to work on.” You responded.
“No, sister.” She giggles, “Besides the training, what do you think about them? Him.”
You smile slightly, “I have no idea what you speak of, Tsireya.”
She giggled some more, your sister knew how you were so she didn’t speak of it anymore, knowing she would eventually get on your nerves. She knew you’d come around eventually about him.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4[final]
Tumblr media
Neytiri could not believe it, she was so upset and frustrated with her eldest son. He had a great future, a future that for a while was changed for the good of the family. But now that he could regain all that he had lost, ruining it with a horrifying idea. Why yes, the idea that neteyam was interested in a human, was something she could not understand. How could this situation be possible, right now she couldn't even see her own son. She was very upset, walking as fast as she could away from the hut. Not realizing that she was about to crash into Jake. "b-babe?" jake tries to stop neytiri, but she pushes him away and continues on her way. Leaving a confused jake, what must have happened had to be very loud. Jake walked to the hut, entering carefully.
He found mo'at comforting his eldest son. Jake swears it's the first time he's seen neteyam cry…never since he grew up has he cried. And now he's holding his knees to his chest, head buried in his legs. While mo'at hugged him, and took care of him. "Hey…what's wrong?" asks jake. Approaching one of neteyam's sides, sitting down next to him. "nothing" says neteyam in a clipped voice. Jake notices that his son doesn't want to look at him, jake looks at mo'at and she signals for them to go talk away from neteyam. They both get up and leave the hut, "What's going on? Why is neytiri so upset?" jake is confused, neteyam has never done anything to upset his mother like this before. Mo'at clears her throat and takes a deep breath. "Jake… neteyam has already decided who he wants to pair up as a mate," mo'at says. Jake dries up a little, throwing his hands up in the air. This is not bad news. "So what's going on? That's supposed to be good news" jake can see the look of frustration on mo'at's face. "The partner he chose is Y/N…that's the problem" mo'at says.
jake's face falls in shock, he could not believe what mo'at was saying. He was surprised…but not upset. You had always been very close to his family, Jake considered you as just another daughter. But he had to admit that the whole situation of a na'vi and human…being a couple was very strange. He could see why neytiri was like this, she must feel betrayed. "jake I want to tell you…that my position right now is to support neteyam and y/n" mo'at says. "But…don't you think" jake was speechless, you didn't know what to say in this situation. "I know from experience…that things shouldn't be forced and if eywa has allowed this relationship to get to this point, it's for a reason" mo'at speaks, she knew this was crazy. But she could feel the sincerity in neteyam's voice, she could tell he loved you. And she was sure you loved him too. She was not going to be the cause of their separation. Jake entered the hut, he wanted to talk to his son. But he found an empty hut. "Where did he go?" jake looks at mo'at, the woman was behind him. Looking everywhere, but nothing. "He went to look for her, didn't he" jake speaks, shuffling his head in frustration. Mo'at only replies with a "hmm" as they both stare at each other thinking about what was going to happen.
On the other hand, you had just left the lab, you were in front of the facility setting up some boxes. When you hear the familiar voice of neteyam. "Y/N!!!" shouts neteyam, you look up and begin to feel worried. His voice was desperate and he was running towards you. When he was finally close, you could see how agitated he was and you could tell he had been crying. "Neteyam what's wrong?" you speak, taking his hand. You wanted him to calm down, the boy was looking all around, as if he was seeing if no one was following him. "Neteyam?" you raise your voice a little to get his attention. Neteyam looks at you with concern, "everyone already knows…I want- I need to talk?" neteyam couldn't form a complete sentence from how agitated and nervous he was. "Hey…come on let's go inside, shall we?" you invite neteyam into the lab. You knew he wasn't a fan of the lab, but it was the safest place now. Following in your footsteps, as you dragged him inside. Taking an oxygen mask, placing it around his neck. To let himself be guided to a chair. "I'll get some water…easy" you let go of his hand, running to the kitchen.
You quickly reach for the giant glass that norm always uses when he's in his avatar body. Filling it with water, you run to neteyam. To your surprise, he was already calming down. He's slouching a bit in the chair, and looking down at the floor. While his tail was wagging anxiously, taking a breath of air from his mask. "Here it is" you offer him the water, watching as he hurriedly takes it. You place one of your hands on his chest, near his neck. Stroking his skin a little. "Hey…easy, you can drown" you chuckle a little, watching as his ears twitch a little towards your response. After he calmed down…you drag a chair to stand in front of him and let him tell you everything.
And so he did, neteyam told you everything that had happened in the last few hours. And how he had disappointed his mother, how he didn't have the courage to speak up and defend their relationship. He felt he had failed. He as your partner was supposed to stand up for you, to protect what you two had and he didn't have the courage. "I don't know what to do…that's why I came to see you, you always know what to do" says neteyam, looking up waiting for you to say something. And for the first time you didn't know what to do… this whole situation was very difficult. "I don't know what to do either…" you speak, seeing how the whole room fell silent. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, but one of frustration. You both wanted this to be solved…but how.
Neteyam keeps looking around, but his attention is drawn to the human clothes you were wearing. It's been a long time since he saw you with it on, it was strange to see you like that. Stretching out his hand, he quickly grabs your shirt. Pulling it up a bit, revealing a bit of your breasts. "And why are you wearing this?" he asks, turning his head to the side. "You don't like the na'vi outfits I made for you anymore" neteyam says, looking at you with frustration. You laugh a little. "Ahh this…it's too cold here and this is warmer. But if you want…I can change" you speak, and you see his ears fall back. "Oh, why are you sad again?" you ask, rising from your seat to stand between his legs. To hold both sides of his face with your hands. "You see… here the problem is me. You are capable of changing everything about yourself, just to make me happy. And me…I can't even tell my family how much I love you" neteyam lowers his head, if you can feel and hear how he starts to cry. "No…honey calm down!!!" you try to comfort him. "You're not a problem…don't ever say that again, ok?" you scold him…watching as he wipes away some tears.
alarm
You look back recognizing the sound, but neteyam is a little surprised. "What's that sound?" he asks, looking over to where the strange device was making the noise. "It's our alarm" you walk away, walking over to the table to turn it off. "Pandora's hours can be a little strange…and sometimes we forget the times. It's time to go to bed" you speak. Turning off the alarm and walking back towards neteyam. "But I've shown you how to tell what time it is in the day" neteyam speaks, watching you laugh. "It's a bit complicated!!!" you complain, feeling neteyam take your hand pulling you into his body to hug you fully. "Can I sleep over here?" asks neteyam. "Here…with me?" you pull away a little to make sure he was serious. "Yes" neteyam can see a smile appear on your face. "Sure…but mmmm we have to do some things, come!!!" you stand up and take his hand leading him to your room.
Neteyam had a hard walk, because the road to your room was very difficult for him. And if you count that he was bent all the time. But he didn't care, you were so happy. You opened your door, and walked in with him. Your room was small. It had a small circular window, your bed in one corner and a lot of things stuck on the wall. Many of them were photographs and objects of memory. Many of them neteyam had given them to you, there were pictures with them and spider, even of your parents. It was cozy. "Well…I'll have to make you a bed, on the floor. Because my bed is too small" you speak. Neteyam smiles at you, watching as you pull some boxes out from under the bed. Taking a fabric, placing it on the floor. Creating a kind of bed.
After a while, everything was settled. Neteyam was sitting on the sheets, and you were next to him. He couldn't stop looking at you, always trying to make him comfortable, always thinking of him. There you were calibrating his oxygen machine, so he could sleep with it on. "Ok, all set… now you can sleep comfortably and not die" you speak, seeing how neteyam let out a laugh. Taking the machine. There is a small silence, until you speak. "Neteyam?" you ask, seeing how he looks at you carefully. "You…you're going to see that girl? Will you do what your mother told you?" you ask. "No…I won't, I already chose with I want to share my life with…and I will do anything to be by your side" neteyam takes your hand, to give it a squeeze. You laugh a little, adjusting your hair a little. "Well…let's rest!!!" you speak, starting to get up from the floor. But you feel neteyam hug you tightly, pulling you into his arms. "Ah ah you stay here with me…both of us in the uncomfortable bed" neteyam teases, laying you down next to him, as he gives you multiple kisses on your cheeks. You wrap your arms around his neck, to look at him for a second. "You know I would do anything for you…anything" you speak. "I know…and I would for you" neteyam gives you a quick kiss on the lips, to snuggle more. "You're right" neteyam says. "About what?" you look at him. "It's cold in here" neteyam says, hearing you laugh. Feeling you squeeze him tighter. "Well, I'm going to make you a lot warmer" you joke, knowing that you barely covered a piece of his body.
On the other side of the camp…
Neytiri had been out all day, and returned home very late. Meeting Jake outside the hut, he was looking at his weapons. Pretending he hadn't been waiting for her all afternoon. He wanted to talk to her, and find out how she felt about the situation. He knew this had to be difficult for her. Neytiri approached, sighing loudly. "I imagine you already know what's going on," Neytiri says. Watching as jake drops the gun, and looks at her. Jake sighs a little, he already knew neytiri wasn't going to be happy with his answer. "Yes…and I want you to know that I agree with whatever choice neteyam makes" jake says, getting up from the ground. Noticing how neytiri pulls away from him a little and pouts. "You're losing your mind… she's a human. Our son wants to mate with a demon-" neytiri paused, and lowered her head. "So was I…and you still chose me." jake speaks.
He was too tired to argue with life's destiny any longer. He didn't want his children to see him as the enemy, he wanted to give them his support. Sure… this was crazy. And who knew if this was going to work, but Jake was going to support him. "Jake…you were a na'vi" neytiri reaches over placing her hands on jake's chest. She was frustrated, for once in her life she wanted everything to go right. "Hey, baby look at me" jake takes neytiri's face. She was teary eyed, it was neteyam they were talking about. She wanted a great future for him, for him to take the place that once belonged to her father. Things were getting back to normal and boom, this was happening. "Neteyam will be fine…y/n she's a good girl" says jake. "I don't care if she's good or not…. she's not a na'vi. And she never will be" neytiri walks away from jake. And starts to walk into the hut, but not before stopping and turning to look at jake. "I'm never going to accept her as part of this family…never," says Neytiri, leaving Jake alone. What was Jake going to do with Neytiri, she couldn't control everything… she had to understand her son. Otherwise she was going to lose him. Jake took one last look into the distance, to see if neteyam was coming. But he knew he wouldn't see him again until the next day. Norm had told him he'd seen neteyam go into the lab, so Jake assumed he was with y/n.
Tumblr media
The next morning…
You two were up early as usual, you had barely opened your eyes when neteyam was leading you out of the lab. He loved being with you that night, but it was driving him crazy how confined and small the place was. You're stretching and leaning back when you notice the sun rising between the entrance to the camp. "What a beautiful day" you speak, looking at neteyam. He had a worried look on his face, he knew he had to go back to face everything with his family. Barely paying attention to you, you squeeze his hand. "Hey…if you want I can come with you?" you suggest, but you see how he refuses. "No…I don't want anything to happen to you" says neteyam, kneeling down so you can get closer to him. "Are you going to go see my grandmother?" neteyam would rather she be in a safe place, and being with mo'at is best. He knew his grandmother supported him and she wasn't going to let anything happen. "Yeah…but you're going to go see me" you pout, watching as he laughs. Giving you a kiss on the crown of your head. "Sure baby…I'll come see you. But promise me you'll stay in mo'at's hut" neteyam makes you promise and you make a cross on your heart. "Promise" you speak, neteyam is relieved and stands up saying goodbye to you and starts walking his way home.
Neteyam already knew what was in store for him, an argument and a lot of complaining. But this time he was not going to keep quiet, this time he was going to stand up for what he felt. He was tired of having his life chosen for him. It was time for him to decide his own life. Neteyam was approaching the hut, on the way he could see the figure of his father approaching. He stops, expecting his father to start arguing, but is surprised when jake approaches silently. Placing his hand on his son's shoulder, tapping him a few times. "Neteyam…are you okay?" asks jake, neteyam only replies with an uncomfortable smile. " Dad…I want to talk to you" neteyam was about to start talking and be able to explain everything to his father. But jake interrupts him. "Son, I know what's going on…about your mother and the situation with y/n" jake speaks up. "Dad I'm not going to change my mind" neteyam pulls away a little, but jake now places his other hand on his son's shoulder to reassure him. "I know…and I'm not going to oppose anything, I will support you in whatever choice you make" jake speaks. The truth is that Jake was tired of trying to control his sons life, he was looking for some peace of mind now. He also didn't want his relationship with his children to be damaged. After arguing for a while, and setting the record straight. Jake says goodbye to Neteyam. But not before saying "You need to talk to your mother" says Jake. He knew that neytiri wouldn't accept anything, but neteyam was still his son. Sooner or later she would understand.
Neteyam decided to stop by the family hut for a moment, he had to get some things for the day. As he arrived and approached the entrance. He can see his mother, neytiri was sitting there fixing some jars. She knew that Neteyam had arrived, but she didn't even look at him. Neteyam didn't speak either, he just walked over to his area and started to pick up some things. He had planned to stay with you until things calmed down, but now he wanted to join you. The best thing was for him to leave and start his life with you. "I see you're already packing up your things," says neytiri, as she continues to work. "Yes… I am leaving with my partner" says neteyam, he is a little scared when he hears the thump of one of the jars being hit hard to the ground. "You know she can't bond with you…only a na'vi, accepted into the clan. Joined and introduced to eywa can be your mate. If not…it's all in vain" says neytiri, she was getting furious. But she hears neteyam's footsteps approaching. "Then I will solve it…but I will bond with her, because I love her" neteyam looks at his mother, seeing how she looks up. She was teary eyed, and upset. "Goodbye… when you want to talk to me I will listen to you mom" neteyam leaves the hut, with her things. Neytiri slams another jar on the ground, out of anger…she couldn't believe all this was happening.
On the other hand, minutes later neteyam arrives at mo'at's hut. He knew he would find you there and he was right. You were sitting next to his grandmother talking. When you see him enter, you smile and get up to greet him. But you stop for a moment, seeing that he had some bags in his hands. " So what's that?" you ask, and watch as neteyam laughs awkwardly, leaving his things in the corner of the hut. "Don't tell me you're leaving your parents' hut," speaks mo'at. "I have to…the atmosphere is awful" says neteyam, taking your hand to join him in sitting down. He sits across from his grandmother, and you sit next to him. "Well, you can sleep here…I don't have any problem. Besides…" mo'at pauses, taking some fruit to offer him. "I think you'll be able to live together soon," the woman says, noticing how both young ones look at each other curiously, then glance at her. "How?" you ask. You were aware that the pairing process was complicated.
In order for two na'vi to mate, they must both be accepted into the clan as useful members. They must also be accepted and introduced by eywa, and she would decide if you were worthy of joining her circle. All this was a ritual, which could be performed in large or in private. But always with the tsahik of the clan. Mo'at already knew what she was going to do…she had a plan. But she wanted to make sure you were completely sure. "Grandmother, how is this going to be possible?" asks neteyam. "Listen… there is a method. It's a rather complicated ritual, but I want to be sure that y/n is ready," says mo'at looking at you, she could see the nervousness in your gaze. "And what should I do?" you speak, looking quickly at neteyam, while he holds your hand tightly. "Well… the first phase is already done, you have grown up here in the clan. And I'm sure every member accepts you" mo'at pauses. Noticing how neteyam coughs a little, it was clear that he was thinking about his mother.
"But the second phase…it must be done with caution" mo'at swings forward a little, to take your free hand. " I want you to know…that once you present yourself to eywa, you will no longer be part of your species. You will still have the same human physique…but your soul…your self, will be na'vi. Only if eywa accepts you" mo'at is speaking seriously. Neteyam was looking at you all this time, he knew this was a difficult choice, he could see how your eyes were moving nervously. And he could feel you trembling. "I…" you try to speak, but mo'at interrupts you. "This is a choice you have to make calmly… think about it, yes?" mo'at comes over and kisses you on the forehead. She wanted you to do this… this ritual would bond you to her people, bring you closer to her. Mo'at considered you as a daughter…but she wanted you to make the best decisions.
After a while…Mo'at had left you alone, she had gone out to do her daily chores. Neteyam had you sitting on his lap while he ate some berries. Meanwhile you were playing with some beads of your clothing. You couldn't stop thinking about what mo'at proposed to you. You wanted to do it…but you were afraid. Neteyam looks down and notices you lost in thought. He takes a berry and places it on your lips, making the 'ahhh' sound and you open it and start chewing it, but you don't even speak. "Are you still thinking about what mo'at proposed to us?" speaks neteyam. You look up and look at him with concern. "baby…you don't have to, I don't want you to do anything for me" neteyam holds your jaw, patting your skin. " yes I do…there is nothing in this world that I want more than to be with you…but I'm scared" you speak, watching as neteyam chuckles softly. "how about we start with everything…and if you feel uncomfortable, we stop and look for another solution" says neteyam, seeing how you nod your head. He didn't want to force you, he wanted you to accept…but this decision was yours to make. He knew you had your doubts…maybe he wasn't worth it.

Nothing could ever surmount to the despair you felt that day. The day he looked into your weeping eyes, looked right into your aching soul, and told you he was leaving.
Leaving. You begged him to take you with him. Pleaded with his pained expression to let you stay with him. To take you with him. To walk every journey together.
But he didn’t. He shook his head, pursing his lips that have kissed you for the last time. Crossing his arms that embraced you for the last time. He said no. One simple word that crushed your entire self.
“It won’t be safe, I can’t take you from the forest, this is your home.” No. No he was your home! He was your everything. The last face you look at when you say goodnight to the day left behind you. The one you would run to, so you could tell him everything good and bad. The man you imagined your entire life to be with.
That same man who was running from his home, to never return back to you.
You pleaded with him, crashing onto your knees, wrapping your arms around his torso. Crying into him as you begged to accompany him. How could he leave you? How could he have the heart to tear out yours.
“Y/N…let go.” His deep voice ring deep in your ears. You knew he was talking about your physical grip on him. But it felt so much deeper. Let go. Let go of us. Let go of everything we ever were. Let go of me.
You shook your head desperately, hands still clinging to his body. The rough soil beneath you cutting into your knees but no cut would ever be as deep as the one he had laid into your soul.
It was as if the hands he took to pry your frail body off him were the daggers that were slicing up your heart. Leaving wounds so deep they would never heal. How could you ever heal from this?
You looked up at him, tears letting his cheeks dampen, his face showing nothing but grief as he met your hurt eyes.
“I have to go…Y/N you know I have to.” You did. You knew you had no say in this. Your words were insignificant to begin with.
His figure crouched down in front of you. Wiping the salty tears that stained your cheeks. He saw the way your chin quivered as he caressed your beautiful face.
A salty, sweet kiss was the last one you ever shared with him. A kiss you both cried into, gripping onto each other knowing it was the last time. It was bittersweet. To share a moment so close together only to be ripped apart.
All that connected you both was memories. Memories that now serve you nothing but hurt.
Tumblr media
Five years had passed. Five dreadful years.
You were now a 20 year old woman. Adorned with your bow and the physique of a fit warrior. Though no amount of time could ever heal the cuts he left so deep in you.
For the first year, you were nothing but a shell. Never eating, never sleeping. You simply existed. Which was a chore to do without him.
You wished nothing but to stop existing. To stop experiencing every bit of sadness, every bit of grief. To stop mourning the loss of the only man you could ever love.
Tears were your most worn accessory, no one ever daring to tell you they looked bad. Too scared to send you spiralling even more than you already had.
Though, those times you spent rocking in your hammock. Looking at the stars that lit up the night sky, those cuts that ran deep within you, the cuts that caused so pain. They started to seep.
Started to seep blood red rage.
How could he ever have left you? Was he so selfish to not think of the effect this would have on you? Did he simply not care?
How was the one time he decided to act selfishly be the time wounded the one who loved him most? To be so selfish, to claim he would be keeping you safe.
Safe to what? The sky-people that reigned free through your planet. Constantly on the verge of war to aliens that had no consideration for your people. Just like he had no consideration for your heart.
You wanted to hate him. You wanted to hate him so bad, that every memory of him would fade into a blood red image of evil. That every memory would turn into a disgusting thought of a disgusting man.
You wanted to hate him with every fibre in your body. But you couldn’t.
Maybe that’s when everything stopped looking so blood red. When everything dulled out. Nothing mattered, he would never come back.
So with a tainted heart and an aching soul, you accepted that you would never experience the love of your mate every again. Never feel his touch, hear his voice, smell his scent, taste his kisses. You would never be with him.
That’s were Va’tep entered into your life. Barging into your knocked down walls and building a crappy foundation.
Va’tep, Tarsem’s younger brother. One year your elder. A fierce warrior, a man who refused to lose, a man who claimed what was his. And to him, you were his.
Your parents always longed for status. To be high up in the clan. You were their golden ticket, finding your way into the heart of Toruk Makto’s eldest son. They rejoiced in your heart’s residence, rejoiced in the fact that you fulfilled their one wish. They were your number one advocate. Pushing you to train for your rite of passage ever since you became closer with the boy. They worked every inch of their being towards the union between the pair of you.
But the hard work washed away as fast as the waterfall plunged.
Washing away all your dreams, your happiness, your meaning. It washed away your parent’s status, Va’tep being the life guard that pulls them out of the strong currents.
Nothing could ever amount to him though. Your heart resided with someone else as your body laid with his. You felt yourself fill with shame every time you shared a touch. A shiver of disgust running down your entire body. Breaking the vow of your love towards the boy who broke you.
“Where’s your head at beautiful?” That was what he called you. Beautiful. His voice would never be as sweet as his. Never send the right shivers through you.
Va’tep’s calloused hands caressed your cheek, so rough it felt as if he was dragging you with his touch. Everything he did was rough. Rough like the soil you pleaded on.
Maybe this was Eywa laughing in your face. Giving you a man so opposite to the man you craved so desperately. Even after 5 years, Eywa would never let you forget those memories.
Shrugging his hands off your body, he let out a low hiss. One that showed his offence towards your actions. A hiss so quiet, it would only be heard if you cared. But you didn’t. Something else was clouding your mind, taking your attention away from him. And it wasn’t just your past lover.
Tumblr media
You made your way towards the growing crowd of people that formed around the entrance of High Camp. Va’tep’s calls after you were silenced by the gasps and whispers of your people that were creating confusion that bubbled in your stomach.
Pushing yourself to the front of the crowd, definitely stepping on the feet of others. You looked for the source of the commotion. Ears perking up and eyes squinting to find the one thing people were gawking at.
Though now as you look towards the source, you wish you minded your business. Everything was coming back. Every emotion, every curse, every thought, every tear. They all fell on top of you, crushing your soul as you let out a small whimper in fear.
The source was making its way towards you. No. No. NO. This can’t happen. This cannot be happening. Feet stumbling as you paced backwards, avoiding looking straight ahead.
Dread filled your entire being. Filling it from your toes until it felt as if it would spill out of you, gurgling in the pits of your stomach. No. No. NO.
Crashing into the back of a person, you were forced to halt your escape. Frozen in shock as you looked at the man who had broken your heart and given it back to you.
Lips quivering, tears pooling in your eyes. He reached his hands towards you. How could he come back? Why was he back? This is all some sort of sick dream. A nightmare.
“My beautiful girl.” His voice was deeper, still so sweet it would cause a cavity. It enticed you. You had been without his voice for so long.
So long…because he left you. Because he was cruel and selfish.
Shaking your head profusely, just like you did that dreaded day. Your hands shook as you pointed at him, an accusatory finger aimed at him as your mind swirled.
“I’m here now.” He should have never left, he should have NEVER left. What a sick fuck. To come back expecting open arms when all you wanted was to never have your arms leave him. “Beautiful? What is it?”
“I am not your beautiful, Neteyam.”

chapter recap
Slowly your memories starts to come back but the sky people have up their game, letting you take something to make you forget.
author's note;
Hello! I'm sorry if I'm not that fast on updating since class started but rest assured I will complete this series! Also, don't forget to reblog, like and share your thoughts on this chapter! Thank you!
part 1 , part 2
▪︎▪︎▪︎
"Did you give her the pill?"
The general ask and Z-Dog just smirk and walk away. The pill is meant to be given to you during this mission since there might be a chance your memories might come back. They have spent a long time manipulating you, with you being a full na'vi your a big help to them by exploring the Pandora.
"I absolutely hate it when someone doesn't obey me orders."
Your body flinch when you heard Quaritch and you can already tell that his looking at you. Rolling your eyes you got out from the ship and called your ikran. Today's events made you feel suffocate and something or someone is just telling you to get some air. Away from those people. Away from everything.
After flying some time you landed on a rock, you look around and saw three mountains. Just how much did you space out while being on your ikran. You look at your ikran and it nudge your face, you smiled a little and stroke it just below it's mouth, when suddenly your head throb
'My child.. come back to us..'
Your eyes scan your surrounding but no one is there. Then your head began to throb again but this time, it lasted longer.
'My child! Please bring her back!'
'Oh my daughter...'
"Stop.. STOP IT!"
You scream in pain as memories keeps flashing through your mind
'Her name shall be Y/N! A gift from Eywa!'
'Y/N!'
A scene from your birth as your father held you up, people from your clan circling your family. Your mother looking at you with full of love.
"No.. this is just a play of my mind. They betrayed me!"
'Come, play with us!'
'See that? Try hitting it'
'Here!'
You drop on your knees as you clutch your head, you heard your ikran screeching as it began to fly away from you. The last memory that flash into your mind was you being taken away by the sky people
"Save me...."
Neteyam's POV
The meeting with his father and the leaders of the metkayina clan just ended and when he is on his way back to their marui pod, he heard the noise of an ikran. Why would be their ikran near here? I thought their ikrans decided to stay at the forest just behind on where the metkayina lives.
"Lo'ak come with me!"
His younger sibling followed and they came to the spot where they first got here, when the ikran landed it made a cry and it may be dark but he can recognize that ikran no matter what
"It's Y/N's ikran!"
Tuk and Kiri appeared telling that they heard the cries of an ikran, they quickly got here.
"But why would her ikran be here?"
Lo'ak said while scanning then he notice the saddle and they all look at each other
"Y/N!"
Neteyam ran to the water calling for his ilu, the ikran also started to fly and they all followed to where it is going. After some time they arrived at the Three Brother's Rock. Your ikran landed on where you collapsed.
"Look!"
Tuk pointed and they all immediately got off and the first one to get to you was Neteyam.
"Wake up, Y/N!"
He held you into his arm but there's no avail of you showing signs of waking up.
"Let's get out of here bro!"
Neteyam carried you and signaled your ikran to go where the others ikrans are. But before your ikran can fly somebody fired and luckily your ikran were able to dodge it, Neteyam quickly look back and saw two avatars holding up their gun. He saw a gun strap on your thighs and he quickly got it.
"Go go go!"
He shouted to his siblings as they all rode their ilus and swam away from the place.
"Shit! Don't let them get away!"
Neteyam place you on his ilu before shooting back and when he manage to hit one of the avatar he quickly jump and rode his ilu then commanded it to swim away. He just knows that tomorrow something big will happen.
- end of neteyams pov-
▪︎▪︎▪︎
"This child is under a spell! Sky people corrupted her."
You are now laying down inside the Sully's pod with Ronal treating you. Neteyam gritted his teeth, so that's why you acted like that towards them.
"What can we do?"
His father ask
"Nothing. Let's hope that as soon as she woke up, she'll be the same person you people know."
Ronal walk out from their pod and Neteyam can only carress your face. Jake lets out a sigh.
"I'm calling Norm and Max again."
Jaket steps out followed by Neytiri, his friends just got here weeks ago when Kiri had a seizure but he needs them again. He also wants your family to come. They can't simply do this.
"Is she going to hate us again?"
Tuk broke the silence and Neteyam can only lower his gaze. Day turns to night and you still haven't woke up. Norm and Max arrived just hours ago and they examined you, they found a weird substance in you. It's like a medicine that you take making you hallucinates or replace some of your memories.
"So like a drug?"
Neteyam heard his father and Max nodded
"Since she is a born na'vi it might have dealt a great damage on her system. She was gone for a long time, who knows how many pills she have taken?"
"My poor child.."
Your mother is now at your side, your father holding your hand and offering a prayer.
"I must kill them. They have harm my sister!"
"Mawey Casnu, we must come up with a plan to attack them."
Neteyam put his hands on the shoulders of your brother then Tonowari walk up to them, looking at them as if he carries a bad news
"They are at the north side of the coast. We will attack tomorrow."
Tonowari insisted on having a meeting again and this time your father and brother took part. There's no way they will let this slide. Neteyam stayed back offering to aid your mother.
"You must rest"
Neytiri pat the shoulders of your mother and when she was about to refuse Neteyam spoke
"It's okay. I will watch over her."
Your mother nodded and Neytiri and her walk out from the pod. He held your hands and brought it close to his lips, kissing your knuckles.
▪︎▪︎▪︎
A warm light woke you up from your sleep, slowly getting up you notice that you are in a unknown place. You quickly got up to your feet and that alerted the people around you. You hiss at them and grab the knife at your pocket, pointing it at them.
"Stay back!"
Your vision blurry but you need to defend yourself. They must be here again to force you again on stepping that machine. This people will trick you again.
"It's us, my dear child.."
You squinted your eyes and quickly rub it and slowly your vision clears up. You saw your mother, father and brother standing in front of you.
"You people just don't stop! Now you are even copying what my family looks like."
Your family look at you puzzled, the Sully family heard the commotion and decided to check that's where they saw you in a defense stance.
"We are not them! See, we are real.."
Casnu, your brother slit the palm of his hand letting you see that they are indeed your family. Your eyes watered, dropping your knife you ran to them
"Ma... Pa... they- they tried to trick me!"
You sob at the chest of your mother, Jake told his family to come later since you and your family needs a lot of time. Neteyam is just simply happy that you are now back though he saw Max said something to his father that made Jake halt and look back. That made him look back too but all he see is you smiling to your family.

Warnings!: Suggestive content, angst, minor Lo'ak x reader, violence, language, pissy Neteyam
Neteyam stared at you and Lo'ak from across the large fire with narrowed eyes. You sat together, alone, Lo'ak cracking jokes and you cracking up. It made Neteyam's tail whip behind him in indescribable frustration. He never thought Lo'ak would actually be so bold to ask you out, especially at an event as large as the end of the war celebration. He thought it was a bluff when the younger brother brought it up that week ago, but here he was.
"You're glaring at them, brother," the voice of Kiri broke him from his harsh glare.
"I am not," Neteyam denied, looking at his sister. His cheeks felt hot in embarrassment of being caught. At the sound of you laughter although, his gaze snapped back to you and Lo'ak. Part of him admired the way you smiled so brightly but a part of him wished it was him making you smile in such a way once more.
"If it bothers you so much, why did you tell Lo'ak he could ask her out?" Kiri challenged, following her elder brother's gaze.
"It doesn't," he growled, his jaw clenching at his own denial.
Kiri looked at him with a knowing face, that Neteyam completely ignored. "You know they can probably feel you staring."
As if on cue, Lo'ak turned and made eye contact with his brother. Neteyam's glare on hardened, making Lo'ak audibly gulp.
"Hey, let's get outta here," he said, grasping your hand gently and helping you up from your previous seated position. You only smiled gently and allowed the younger boy to pull you into the forest.
"Bold move brother," Kiri mumbled as she and Neteyam watched the two wander away from the crowd.
"What the hell does he think he's doing?" Neteyam exclaimed a bit louder then he meant to. He turned back to Kiri, only to be met with a knowing look, very similar to the one a mother may give to her child. "Okay, it might bother me."
"It seems as though it does," a new voice added.
"Great, let's add the whole family into this conversation," Neteyam said sarcastically as his eyes landed on the forms of his parents.
"Did our son really sneak off with the Na'vi his brother is in love with?" Jake asked Neytiri, his voice laced with disapproval.
"Right now, he's your son," Neytiti scoffed, taking a sip of some sort of drink. Jake's cheeks flushed at the comment, thinking back to when he and his mate first became one.
"What?" Neteyam questioned, looking at his parents. "What does that mean?"
"Someone was in love with me when I mated with your father," Neytiri explained. She frowned as her eldest son's face dropped at her words. "I was to be mated and your father and I became one on the night he became one of the People."
"This isn't the same scenario," Jake denied. "Lo'ak would never mate with the Na'vi his brother is in love with."
"I'm not in love with them!" Neteyam yelled, his face growing hot with embarrassment and frustration. "I just don't want Lo'ak to hurt them."
"So you're fine with them now spending their time with Lo'ak?" Kiri asked. "With Lo'ak now being the one that is there when they cry, when they need someone to hold them?"
Neteyam's chest grew heavy as Kiri spoke. He had felt, even the past week, how his heart fell everytime he saw you with Lo'ak instead of him. How his little brother was the one who got to hold your hand.
"I'm supposed to be the one to hold them," he seethed. His mind wandered to what Lo'ak could be doing to you deep within the forest. and his fists began to clench. "I'm supposed to protect them. To be with them, like Lo'ak is with them." He released a low breath, his eyes softening as the realization hit him. "I love them."
"Why are you telling us, boy?" Jake asked, making Neteyam look at him. "Go get them. Just, don't beat up your brother."
"No promises," Neteyam said before dashing after you and Lo'ak. He weaved through the luminescent forest floor, eyes flicking through the scenery, desperately searching for your figure. The more he searched, the lower his heart would drop. But then, he found himself in your hideaway. His breathing grew heavy and anger coursed through his veins as he saw you and Lo'ak lying in the middle of the clearing. "Lo'ak!" he yelled, causing both of you to sit up and look at the older boy.
"Jesus Christ, it took you long enough!" Lo'ak exclaimed, throwing his head back. "We've been here for like, half an hour." Neteyam watched in confusion as his brother stood and walked towards him. He gave him a hard pat on the shoulder as he pushed past him. "We didn't kiss or anything... today. Good luck bro."
Neteyam watched as his brother left, still filled with confusion and a bit of remaining anger.
"Hi, Yams," you said softly, staring at Neteyam with a sad expression.
"You brought him here," he responded, his anger taking hold. "You brought him to our hideaway. And you kissed him?"
"What does it matter?" you asked, watching calmly and Neteyam approached you. "All you've been doing recently is glaring at me."
"He's my brother, y/n!" Neteyam yelled, looking down at you. "I didn't see you for a week because you were with him instead of me! I tried coming here to catch even a glimpse of you, but you were never here!"
"Bullshit!" you exclaimed, scrambling to your feet. You stood to full height, frustration now coursing through you as well. "You never attempted to see me. You didn't want anything to do with me when I was with Lo'ak. Are you such a spoiled brat that I can't have more than one friend?"
"Friend?" Neteyam asked, his ears pinning to his head at your choice of words.
"Yes! Friends," you exclaimed. "And I never kissed him! He just kissed my scrape!"
Neteyam felt his anger wash away, a small smile poking past his lips.
"Oh my god," you scoffed, watching as Neteyam's behavior changed so quickly. You crossed your arms over your chest as he laughed.
"He kissed your scrape?" he laughed loudly.
"I fell and was being whiny!" you defended, fighting back a smile of your own. "He was teasing me and kissed my scrape to make fun of me!" You let out a giggle, finding the eldest Sully son's laughter contagious. "I'm still mad at you," you said, forcing a frown back onto your face.
"I'm sorry," Neteyam giggled, the apology behind it genuine. "I was under the impression my little brother was dating you. I admit I was jealous."
"Why the hell did you think that?" you asked, your brows furrowing in confusion.
"Said brother told me as such."
"That little dick," you grumbled. Neteyam laughed once more. "You were jealous?"
Neteyam froze, clearing his throat. He felt uncomfortable under your gaze, shuffling back and forth on his toes. His tail whipped as you stalked towards him, placing a hand on his chest.
"Shall we sit?" you asked softly. Neteyam nodded, his breathing uneven against your touch.
"Y/n, my Hì'i syulang, I love you," he said quietly, placing a hand over the one that still rested on his chest. The nickname he had given you in your childhood now sounded so intimate. "I want to be held by you. I want to hold you. I want to be the one to see your beautiful smile. I want to be the one you come to when you cry. I want you to be my best friend and my lover. I love your eyes and your nose and your heart. Ewya, how I adore your heart and that voice." You felt your cheeks flush at his words, a bit overwhelmed by all the praise. "The way you laugh is heavenly, I remember every word you say. I want to hear you talk forever-"
Neteyam let out a small gasp and you pressed your lips against his. He was quick to respond, leaning forward to kiss you deeply. He frowned as you pulled away, your heads still connected.
"Do you love me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"You need not to shower me with such praise to convince me to love you, I already do," you said, nuzzling your head into the crook of his neck. "I have since we were children, My Neteyam."
Neteyam felt his heart stop in his chest, a wide smile growing on his lips. He laughed gleefully before pulling you into another kiss. You giggled as he did, making the kiss messy and short. He felt his breath grow ragged as you wandered into his lap, your thighs tightening against his own, your arms around his neck. He stared up at you with nothing but pure admiration.
You stared right back at him, feeling nervous but comfortable in the new intimate position. You contiued staring into the eyes of the man you loved as he lowered you to the grassy floor, the soft greenery tickling your back.
"I had dreams similar to these," Neteyam admitted, carefully untangling your hands from his neck as he hovered above your figure. You watched with uneven breaths as he took one of your hands and carefully kissed your wrist. "Images of your beautiful body below my own." His kisses wandered up your arm until they reached your shoulder. He placed a gentle kiss of your collar bone, making you inhale deeply. Your eyes fluttered closed as his kisses trained lazily up your neck and to your lips. You were quick to respond to his lips on your own. You trained your free arm up his bicep and to his back, nails scraping against in gently as you kissed. You let out a small whine as his released your lips and trailed down to the other side of your neck. You watched with red cheeks as he kissed down your opposite arm, finally kissing your other wrist. "Tell me this isn't just another dream, Hì'i syulang." His eyes met yours, half lidded and filled with a mixture of lust and longing. Pure love.
"It's real, my love," you said, stroking his face gently. "Makes your dreams a reality, my Neteyam."

Tumblr media
written portion below. —
you sat there anxiously, awaiting a response from neteyam. it had been a little over ten minutes since you sent the text, and while you wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, you know he didn't have any scheduled practice or class today, and was probably on his phone the whole day.
you refused to check your phone anymore, and instead sat on your couch in silence, not bothering to turn on the tv as you knew you wouldn't be able to concentrate.
a sudden knock on the door pulled you out of your nerves, with you silently thanking eywa for the distraction from neteyam once you opened the door.
it proved to not be that much of a distraction, after all.
"neteyam? what are you doing here?"
he was leaning against your doorframe, hair ruffled and clearly was in a hurry. he was wearing his casual sweatpants, and a fitted shirt that hugged his figure just right everywhere—
his voice quickly snapped you out of your trance, with you silently scolding yourself for checking him out at a time like this. "i came over as soon as i saw your text," he panted, wiping the sweat off his forehead. you subtly tilted your head, did he seriously run on his way here? "something was wrong with the elevators so i took the stairs up."
you winced, the thought of running up three flight of stairs would've had you sweating buckets compared to the few droplets coating his forehead.
"i'm so sorry." you blurted suddenly, without thinking, leaving a confused neteyam standing in front of you.
"for the elevator? i mean it's not really like you had control of that—"
"no, i'm sorry it took me so long to reach out. i didn't know you came here to talk that night. ao'nung lied to me and i didn't even find out about it until earlier today."
"oh," he sighed, and what looked like relief washed over his features. "no need to apologize. all that matters is you're ready to talk to me now."
you sent a shy smile his way, opening the door further as an invitation for him to come in. he accepted, walking in and awkwardly standing by one of the barstools in the kitchen.
not wanting to waste any more time, neteyam spoke up. "i should've never accused ao'nung of doing those things. especially doing them to you. i should never have believed violet, i never even really liked her in the first place, if i'm being honest," he chuckled, running a hand through his braids. "she was full of shit, i just— i wouldn't be able to stand it if he was actually like that, and if i knew you were in some sort of trouble with him."
"i get it," you softly spoke, leaning forward onto the counter across from neteyam. "he's not though. and yeah, what he did just now was kind of fucked up, and i practically blew up in his face just now," you paused, laughing at the shocked look on neteyam's face. "but you have to start trusting my judgement. if something bad happens then it happens, and i learn a lesson from that. but you can't control my love life, neteyam."
"you're right," he agreed, not missing a beat. the boy cleared his throat, fingers nervously tapping along the edge of the counter. "i just want what's best for you, you know? and i'm sorry if i come off like a dick sometimes because of it, and i don't even realize, but i swear i'll start trying harder to just leave your problems to you."
you smiled gratefully at him, then furrowing your brows in confusion. "wait, if you didn't even like violet, then why'd you date her?"
neteyam froze in front of you, not knowing how to response. you paused, scared that you overstepped just before he sighed, meeting your eye.
"it's dumb, really. it was a part of lo'ak's stupid plan to get me to move on."
your heart skipped a beat, chest rising up and down with your breaths. "move on from who?" you carefully asked. from what you knew, you were the last person before violet who neteyam had been romantically involved with.
he stilled for a moment, letting your heart soar for just a split second at the mere thought that maybe, just maybe, he felt the same.
"from you."
