every so often, someone will bring up the possibility of a japanese version of taskmaster (or rather, ask why there isn't one) and i think a big thing is that there already are a lot of shows like it, except they either have a permanent cast or the participants change each episode.
that said, there's a HUGE base of potential panelists because "would be funny on taskmaster" is pretty much how celebrities get judged in japan, so i want to think that it could happen.
the "obvious" choices for the taskmaster would be either sanma or matsumoto hitoshi. but they're massively in demand, so i like the idea of tunnels' ishibashi takaaki as taskmaster and kinashi noritake as the assistant (not that they go on tv much now). nakai masahiro would be my top pick though, with any of the nakai no mado guest mcs as the assistant. for a not-in-high-demand option, wentz eiji could be a good assistant. plus, he lived in the uk for a bit.
but my entirely self-indulgent choice would be katori shingo as taskmaster and kusanagi tsuyoshi as the assistant. this is a terrible idea, tsuyopon would not understand half the tasks himself, but it'd be great.

in tunnels no minasan no okagedeshita (the show that spawned "hole in the wall"), they had this segment where tunnels and some guests would go to the shabbiest, grossest-looking restaurants that allegedly had great food and give them a review out of three stars
it's pretty standard for restaurants in japan to collect signatures of celebrities who eat there. but in this segment, if the food was good, tunnels' kinashi noritake would sign pele's signature
not on a signature board or paper or anything, just somewhere in the restaurant (this restaurant got a rating of "2 stars and 1 pele")
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter streamlines the classic crossover fighter’s roster to just the characters everybody knows! Spider-Man! Ryu! Wolverine! Chun-Li! The Hulk! Norimaro!
Wait... who’s Norimaro?
“Norimaro was born out of a collaboration effort between Capcom and Noritake Kinashi. The new character was initially stated to make an appearance in the "most recent work in the Street Fighter series", but it was later revealed he'd debut in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, which was at the time the latest game in the company's release schedule.
The entire process from beginning to end was documented as part of Kinashi's comedy TV show at the time, "Tonneruzu no namade Daradara Ika Sete!!" (とんねるずの生でダラダラいかせて!!). The show went through all steps of Norimaro's creation, including initial design "sketches" (or more like doodles), the motion capture session to create his animations and the recording session, everything provided by Kinashi himself on-camera, under the humorous identity of "artist Kentaro Kinashi". (...) The character's name was decided in a contest with the show's audience, who were asked to send letters to choose a name. Kinashi picked up the winning letter from 13-years old Akiyuki Uratani, christening the character "Norimaro".”

Huh... that’s pretty unusual! A gag character like that is more towards Dan’s territory. But you know, there is another Marvel vs. Capcom game coming out... I wonder if its too late to bring him back for that one? Yeah, it will require the permission from some more people, but it’s so out of left field that it would wonderfully fuck with some heads!
