The Omega in the Room
Spoilers under the cut for the Bad Batch Season 3 trailer. All of this is my personal theorycrafting.
So something I haven't really seen talked about all that much is this shot of Omega from the new trailer.
She's flying a ship, clad in her Tantiss prison jumpsuit. The haircut is new, but her hair/eye color, clothes, and facial structure are indicators that it's her.
Now am I going crazy, or does Omega in this picture look markedly older than she does in Season 2 and in other shots from the S3 trailer? Take this one.
Maybe it's just the angle and the expression being different, but the top Omega looks somewhat older to me, and not just because she's changed her hair. See how she comes up to the clone commando's elbow in this one?
In this shot, she has her haircut from the cockpit scene. It's tough because she's standing in front of him, but she might be taller relative to the clone commando in this shot. And her face looks different. I really think this Omega is older than the one in the second picture by a not insignificant amount. Which is deeply worrying, because our girl is a Boba Fett-type clone. She doesn't have accelerated aging.
There's one other shot in the S3 trailer that people think is her, and it's the one of the downed Nu-class shuttle.
From the little we can make out, it looks like the two figures limping away from the crash site are Crosshair (rightmost, under a pointy rock) and Omega (on the slope just under the front of the dorsal fin). The first shot of Omega with her new hair is in the cockpit of a ship, which looks like it could be from a Nu. I couldn't find any good pictures of the inside of a Nu's cockpit, but from the canopy/size it looks similar enough. A fan theory I've seen floating around for this scene is that this is the aftermath of Omega and Crosshair escaping Tantiss, with Omega's flying lessons paying off as they narrowly escape before being forced to crashland.
The last thing that's relevant from the trailer is Hunter's line that Omega's "been waiting for a long time." Hunter doesn't strike me as someone who speaks in hyperbole, so if he's saying it's been a long time, we're definitely talking months to years. If I'm right, Omega has been on Tantiss long enough to noticeably age by the time she escapes. With her being in the 10-13 age range at the beginning of the show, she's at an age where it doesn't necessarily take a really long time for her to start looking older, but this doesn't happen overnight either. I think we're talking at least a year, and very possibly more, since the end of Season 2 and the time she escapes.
In the shots we have of younger Omega in the trailer, we see her looking surprised to see Crosshair and staring sadly out a window. Older?Omega looks grim and determined as she is escorted through the Tantiss facility and flies a Nu-class shuttle before bailing out with the aforementioned Crosshair. I think she's definitely older and harder in these scenes, and the fact that it's been so long and she's changed so much is going to be some great angst when they rejoin the Batch.
I also think there's amazing fluff potential for Emerie bonding with Omega and doing her sister's hair, but I digress

YES i logged back in at 1:13am to complain about idiots in the star wars fandom. How do yall miss that the whole point of Omega is that she's an unaltered clone. Her DNA is a PERFECT copy of Jango. She's one of two, not made to have a chip or accelerated aging. She still has some sort of enhancement like Clone Force 99 but her sex/chromosomes were not altered. THERE IS QUITE LITERALLY NO OTHER EXPLANATION OTHER THAN SHES TRANS.

I finally finished her!
So, I really, really like Omega.
She is adorable and I wanted to try to imagine her as an adult.
The armor could be better, but I tried to match it to the armor of her big brother's squad.
I do like the haircut that I gave her. It's practical and suits her.
I imagine a scene of her getting annoyed by her hair and cutting it with a knife. Cue Crosshair having to fix her hairstyle whilst the rest of their brothers are dramatic over the cut hair.
Not that they are mad at her, cause it's her choice.
They just mourn their Brother/Sister/hair-braiding time.
This could also be seen as a step to adulthood for her.
She got the scar on her face when she saved her brothers from some imperial agents, who wanted them for their special traits.
She was 17 and went berserk after her brothers tried to protect her, pushing her into an escape pot and denying her the chance to fight with her family.
Even if she doesn't seem like it, she is still the clone of Jango Fett.
She spent her childhood with Nala Se, serving and learning under a really cold and calculating Alien, before becoming part of the bad batch, being raised and loved by her big brothers.
Even if she wasn't as advanced as her brothers, Omega actually had time to learn how to fight.
She was a warrior, a cold and calculating beast out for hunt.
So yeah. Those separatist had no chance.
As for her place in the story:
Omega is proud of being a clone and doesn't hide it.
She made it her main goal to safe and liberate as many of her brothers as possible.
Even if she didn't have a relationship with them, they where still siblings and she wasn't going to let them wither away as slaves of their own minds.
This also brings us to Boba, whom she has a complicated relationship with.
It's on sight, but they still help each other if need.
Boba sees her as his only sibling. The clones were never more than livestock to him, so he couldn't understand why she chose them over him.
He also can't understand why she won't go the way of a mandalorian. Why she denies her real place in the world.
So yeah. Their relationship is complicated.
Another complicated relationship is the one she has to the ghost crew.
If the universe was different, she'd probably be with Caleb and Hera. But as things are, Kanan is distrusting of her and she takes on the role of cool wine aunt.
Especially Sabine (who is the only mandalorian that she enjoys spending time with) is doing well under their training.
Her "bad batch" is doing well, even if they grew too old too fast. It worries her a lot.

reverse!bad batch au
hunter, wrecker and tech's chips are all activated during order 66, leaving crosshair and echo stunned at their brothers sudden change, and the fact hunter killed a jedi. a kid.
they both decided to brush it off, the three of them acting normal once they returned to their barracks. yet for crosshair the uneasy feeling never went away, he could tell it was the same for echo, if the nervous glances towards hunter were anything.
later echo and crosshair have no choice but to leave their brothers behind, taking omega with them. it wasn't safe, they don't know what their brothers had become.
