Week 11- One page document

When our team first got together and had a big brainstorm, we initially were going to use my Pumpkitty Patch game idea as the jumping board, but quickly we decided to try use a different one called Archers Escape by Cooper Heinrich. Cooper wanted to try doing a rhythm based game, which is what we ended up doing. The weapon use was also dropped, and instead the only skills the character had was to jump, float and dash.

Finalized Sell-sheet and One-page for personal platformer project

The platformer project ive been working on from the very beginning of the semester now has a detailed sell-sheet and one-page. While making these, I had the opportunity to reflect on my own game design and expand on the original ideas i envisioned for the game.

It's a simple extension on the classic platformer game, but with enough new implementations to keep the moment-to-moment gameplay engaging. I tried to combine different types of resources management together to create an original game experience (as suggested by prof. Fullerton in chapter 3, p92 from her book: Game Design Workshop) and hope it can turn out to be a well-crafted prototype.

IGB120 - Assignment 2 Final

Here's an update on my progress for Assignment 2: I've begun working on my One Page, which contains more detailed information about my game concept. Currently, I'm using sprites and images sourced online to illustrate what players can expect in the final prototype. If my idea is chosen by my teammates, we'll collaborate to create our own unique sprites and animations, pooling our creativity to enhance the game's aesthetics.

Description:

The game revolves around controlling Rocky the raccoon, who explores stages to collect scattered litter.

After clearing all litter, a key appears for the player to collect, unlocking the door to the next stage.

Obstacles and enemies hinder the player's progress, and Rocky can only evade enemies by hiding in trash cans.

The game features multiple stages, with increasing difficulty as players advance.

Game Level Design:

Players navigate each stage by parkouring to reach litter collection points.

The game transitions between city and forest settings to depict Rocky's journey.

This is my completed one-page design. I hope to find teammates who share an interest in creating a platformer game similar to this concept.

This week I finished the One Page Document for Assignment 2. With this completed I have finally finished Assignment 2 officially and am ready for the mid sem break.

Assignment 2. Final

I finished both the sell sheet and one page documents. I think the aesthetic is pretty clear through the art and logo I made, as well as the little features I added like the dust and sticker, that indicate its a retro asteroid-like game.

I tried to make the sell sheet look like some sort of game cover and I think I managed to cram a surprising amount of information in a limited space, including the controls, main gameplay and themes.

With the one page, I think I got pretty much all of the core mechanics and ideas I had listed out and I finished the visual representation of the mockup so that each layer or aspect of the gameplay can be more easily seen.
