🎬 Synopsis:
Where Olive Trees Weep offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.
We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We also witness Dr. Gabor Maté offer trauma-healing work to a group of women who were tortured in Israeli prisons.
Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives.
This emotional journey bares the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?

June/July read: Joyful Militancy
Tumblr media
For our next read we will be delving into some non-fiction, reading Joyful Militancy by carla bergman and Nick Montgomery. The book is about how to make one's activism joyful rather than an emotional drain. The entire text including pdf and epub versions are available at https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/joyful-militancy-bergman-montgomery We will be meeting Monday June 26 at 7:30pm Eastern to discuss the first half of the book (roughly midway through Chapter 3). You do not need to get that far in the book to join us, however! If you've barely cracked open the book you are still welcome! We'll be meeting online at https://meet.jit.si/ReadingQueerly

verified ways to donate to gaza directly
[this post is outdated. up-to-date version here.]
Donate to a Palestinian family directly:
gazafunds.com - Donate directly to a Palestinian family in urgent need of evacuation, medical treatment, daily necessities or more. Site run by Palestinians, all GFMs verified (full list here). Spotlights 1 stagnant GFM at a time. (*If you can't decide who/where to donate, just go to gazafunds.com & donate to the 1 GFM they show you!)
masterlist of 200+ verified Palestinian families' GFMs: Operation Olive Branch
Help provide tents:
The Sameer Project: Currently providing tents & transport for families in Rafah who urgently need to evacuate to Deir Al Balah. Has a team on the ground in Gaza who have supplied tents to 1% of the displaced population in Rafah. Run by Palestinians. (paypal) (gfm)
@helpgazachildren: Currently helping Palestinians in a refugee camp in Rafah flee the Rafah invasion to Khan Younis. Funds go directly to Hussam, a Palestinian in Rafah who hosts a refugee camp. Funds will cover the cost of tents & transport fuel. Managed by a Palestinian @.fairuzfan. (gfm)
Food:
Care for Gaza: Palestinian charity on the ground in Gaza distributing food, cash, medicine & other essentials to displaced families. Proof of their work found on their Twitter. (paypal) (gfm)
We Feed Gaza: Team of Palestinian volunteers in the heart of Gaza distributing food & water to 344+ families. More details & proof in their gfm. Vetted & promoted by LetsTalkPalestine on IG. (gfm)
Direct Aid for Gaza: A Palestinian activist on the ground in Gaza distributing food, cash & other essential supplies to displaced families. Proof of their work found on their twitter. (paypal) (gfm)
Water (*urgent and crucial!)
Gaza Municipality: The official Municipality of Gaza is doing vital, life-saving work to rebuild the water pipes in Gaza City to restore access to clean water & waste management services for the people of Gaza.
eSIMs (*very urgent):
guide to buy & send esims to gaza
Crips for eSims for Gaza: donate any amount to this team of volunteers who pool funds to buy & maintain gaza esims regularly (see their financial accountability document).
Medical Aid:
Gaza Wound Care: Palestinian doctors in central Gaza treating injured/sick children & mothers in neglected displacement camps far from hospitals. Facing a severe shortage of medicines, equipment, and medical supplies. Currently raising funds to support their efforts to battle infectious diseases in refugee camps. (gfm) (paypal) (gogetfunding)
international charities: Palestine Red Crescent Society, Palestine Children's Relief Fund, Medical Aid for Palestinians
How to help if you can't donate:
Share & amplify Palestinian fundraisers in your irl & online circles
Organize or help to run an online/irl event to raise funds for Palestine
Boycott
Get involved with a protest/strike/direct action in your area
Contact your reps
Educate yourself & others both irl & online
Daily clicks on Arab.org
(you can even adopt 1 fundraiser campaign to regularly boost it & make materials promoting it online, or print posters/flyers about Palestinian fundraisers to encourage others to donate. (poster/graphic about gazafunds.com: here, flyers about esims: here, flyers about gazafamilyfunds: here)
(longer masterpost of all ways you can help)
(*all these links and more now in this rentry page. will no longer be updating this post, instead refer to the rentry page)
Last updated 3/6/2024 with Gaza Wound Care & We Feed Gaza. Wanted to focus on Palestinian-run grassroots initiatives that will actually reach Gazans on the ground, so all of these except eSIMs, PCRF, MAP are by Palestinians. Donating to international orgs is not ideal rn as aid is still being stopped at the border. Please focus on Palestinian-run initiatives on the ground in Gaza.
Remember, small donations really do add up. Any amount counts, even $1!

Discovering Your Aura
Humans are surrounded by an energy field called an aura, which reflects our physical, emotional, and spiritual state. This concept has intrigued people for centuries. 🤔😲
What is an Aura?
An aura is a luminous energy field that surrounds all living beings. It represents the frequency or vibe that can attract or repel others. Although not visible to everyone, auras are real. It was first observed by Russian technician Simon Kirlian in 1939.
Aura Colors and Their Meanings:
Tumblr media
Each aura color is linked to one of the seven chakras in the body:
Red (Root Chakra): Grounded, passionate, energetic.
Orange (Sacral Chakra): Creative, enthusiastic, social.
Yellow (Solar Plexus): Optimistic, confident, communicative.
Green (Heart Chakra): Healing, balanced, nurturing.
Blue (Throat Chakra): Calm, peaceful, intuitive.
Indigo (Third Eye Chakra): Wise, insightful, mystical.
Violet (Crown Chakra): Spiritual, visionary, compassionate.
Training in Aura Scanning:
Achary Kalki Krishnan Ji from AstroDevam offers specialized training to enhance your aura scanning skills. This training awakens your Kundalini energy and synchronizes it with aura scanner for accurate results.

The Chelsea Hotel - Live Music & Entertainment
Tumblr media
You know what's crazy? How many live events you can come across. Sometimes you don't even need to look. In my case, it fell in my lap. I'm a part of a group and someone advertised that they were doing live music at "The Chelsea Hotel." I wasn't sure what to expect but after being here I'm glad I took the virtual leap of faith. I'm so used to being in my own little bubble sometimes. I'm an introverted extrovert in reality and that doesn't change online either. I prefer being on my own land decorating, standing around, making avatars, or doing interior design. Lately, I've been more anti-social than ever so this randomly popping up is the best time it could've crossed my path. If you enjoy live music and entertainment I highly recommend "The Chelsea Hotel" It's an older prim-like scene, and it hasn't made the switch to mesh which sometimes these old fossil places in Second Life are some of the best places to visit. There's a vintage virtual world charm that brings back much Nostalgia. Join me on my adventure by reading more about my experience below.
*Note: As always I have my raw un-edited photos. There is a reason for that. I don't edit my photos because I want people to know what they would see if they actually went to that location without any edits. Photo edits don't show the place in its natural state. Sometimes I'll edit a photo here and there but I want all my readers to get a feel for the location look and feel and why it provides so much nostalgia to so many Second Life viewers.*
Tumblr media
The Main Area of "The Chelsea Hotel":
We walk in and find this very nostalgic-looking stage everything is made of prim and some furniture is mesh. I loved the positive vibes this location brought. As a live event and entertainment venue it sure has a lot to offer. I walked in on this live event when they were playing the song "Chicken Fried" It's one of my favorite songs. You will find some old vintage photographs on the walls. There's a lot of charm and classical little surprises you'll find just by looking around. Since I was here for an event I cammed around to get a feel for the location before recommending it. There are a ton of rooms for rent here with Lindens. They're not too expensive and the sim gives a city-like vibe. It's located in a New York-themed sim. You definitely feel like you're in New York when you walk outside.
The sitting spaces are so unique here, I would love to come when there isn't an event just to see what it's like without so many people. You can tell that this location gets a good amount of traffic. Apparently, live events happen often between 8-11 PM EST. I found that out this morning when I found myself here. It was a blast! I am definitely going to be coming back for more events in the future whether it be the performers I saw tonight or different ones. There is so much talent in Second Life that for the most part is hidden. A lot of players think Second Life has just become a place to date, go to clubs, and get a piece of land. It's so much more than that. But just like in real life, you need to go outside and find these things to become part of all Second Life has to offer.
The Entertainment For The Evening:
Tumblr media
The entertainment was amazing, they are a duo, one plays the guitar and the other plays the violin and they play popular songs together. There were a lot of songs from the 70s to early 90s being played which is definitely understandable. I can tell that this is catered to a bit of an older crowd. Definitely not our Gen Z and Gen Alpha's but if they know the songs this can be a vibe for anyone to enjoy. It's not every day I enjoy going to a club and just standing there listening to music. The thing is when it's live music it's just different. If you go to a live event in Second Life versus going to a club and listening to a "YouTube" DJ you will know what I mean. Tonight the performers were Beth O joining Maximillion K with Violin and Guitar with Singing. This is at least what was advertised. The best part is there are not too many virtual world synagogues or places of worship such as churches. The great thing is all the tips sent to the performers go towards keeping one of the oldest Second Life synagogues going. I think this is amazing to do as sort of a fundraiser. Maximillion has an amazing voice and I wonder if this is just a hobby or actually something he does as a full-time job. It's hard to find true raw singers without any auto-tune. I truly loved the music that was being played and it truly was a glorious evening. The shocking thing is I was about to log off before I found out about this. It was worth all the extra minutes staying on this evening.
Tumblr media
They are truly relatable and fun to listen to as in between calls they talk about funny topics which provided a lot of conversation in the chat as well which you don't always see anymore. People were coming together and everyone was having a great time there was a lot of engagement!
The Sitting Areas:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a lot of charm to love about the sitting areas in this hotel, I also took some photos of the pictures on the wall so you can see what I was talking about at the beginning of the post. There's also a ton of room for dancing in the main area and it can fit a ton of people.
Tumblr media
Conclusion:
If you want to try something different in your virtual life, definitely keep an eye out for events at "The Chelsea Hotel" They are all live events and I highly recommend the next time Beth O and Maximillion K do a set that you come. I am not being compensated for this post these are my honest and true thoughts. You can visit "The Chelsea Hotel" here. If you're looking for a little bit of nostalgia from a virtual world standpoint, a blast from the past with a primmy feel I also recommend it.
See you in the next post!

Auction begins TONIGHT!
Join us and help spread the word!
The virtual silent auction runs from 7pm CDT Friday (8/2) until 7pm CDT Sunday (8/4). Bid on over 60 amazing items, including paintings, prints, beaded earrings, decorative art, shirts, a baking lesson, an acupuncture session, and much more! 100% of the proceeds will go directly to 4 families surviving g*nocide in Gaza.
To participate, go to bit.ly/give4auction. If you’re seeing this before 7pm CDT, you can also sign up on the site before the auction begins and select items to watch in advance to ensure you don't miss out on your favorites! When it’s time to start bidding, you’ll get notifications via email if somebody outbids you.
Tumblr media
If you’re unable to participate in the auction or would like to offer additional support, please consider helping us reach our weekly goal at bit.ly/give4fund. We are currently at $826 of $2000 ($207 of $500 per family). This amount is critical to providing vital aid to 36 family members, including 13 children, who are currently facing forced displacement in Bureij, Nuseirat, and Deir al Balah.
The families are enduring relentless and escalating aggression. Despite severe internet connectivity issues, we are fortunate to stay in contact daily through a close friend in our community. These families need our urgent support more than ever.
The situation on the ground is dire. Meat is a luxury for these families. While our funds have occasionally allowed them to purchase chicken, they mostly rely on canned foods to prepare meatless meals. Fresh produce is often out of reach due to exorbitant prices. Oil, a staple, now costs $20/kilo! Other essential items like medications and baby supplies are becoming increasingly expensive. Our friend with a 2-month-old must now pay $25 per pack of Pampers!
Please join us in this vital effort! Your participation in the auction or your generous donation can make a profound difference in the lives of these families, helping them survive through this g*nocide. The occupation forces our friends and their families to rely on these funds. Your support is more crucial than ever to help them afford basic necessities with just $500 a week!
