Pokemon "national dexes" are just the pokemon that naturally live in the region (even if they've been introduced from other regions/are invasive). Pokemon not in the dex can still be brought to other regions as partner Pokemon or as part of a team, they don't take your Pokemon away. You just can't catch them in the wild and Pokemon that aren't in the national dex are disqualified from official gym challenges and other events. Though a lot of gym leaders are cool with having a battle with non-regional pokemon for fun, you can't earn a badge with them.

When I was very young, I played Pokemon LeafGreen, trying to think of the meanest name for the rival my young mind could come up with. And now it has appeared in a comic all these years later!
This comic's idea came to me after playing Nintendo Badge Arcade for the first time in several years.

it's wild to me that some people simp after the most cringefail gym leaders
like, have you ever actually been to a Piers concert? He's so quiet it's like he's not actually singing
Also Grusha is so boring to me. Like he's the least inspiring gym leader ever. I heard he once told a kid to give up on their dream of snowboarding.
At least you expect that sorta thing from gym leader Larry, but the guy who literally built his fame off snowboarding? Really?
Simp after a proper gym leader like Flannery or get out of here

(@interregionalgyminspections) Hello! How would you rate the safety and accessibility of the gyms you've been to? -Breve
I鈥檝e gotten all the Johto badges and a few of the Unova ones, so I鈥檒l rate those. Bear in mind that these gyms were remodelled around 15 years ago and will different than how someone who visited them between 1999 and 2009 will remember them.
Violet and Azalea Town get lower scores due to having bridge-like floor plans with no railings, easy for someone to fall from. Violet gets a 3/10 and Azalea gets a 4/10.
Goldenrods gym is pretty decent, as the walls you climb on aren鈥檛 tall enough to fall from and hurt yourself. I鈥檓 sure it would be difficult to traverse for some people with physical disabilities, however. Im sure it would be much harder for me to complete now than it was when I was 11. 6/10
Ecruteak City has yet another gym with a bridge walkway, this time over water. Very dark as well. 2/10
Cianwood used to be more puzzle based, from what my parents told me, but when I visited it was all stairs. They might be working on adding ramps, but for that it gets a 5/10, because it is safer than the others.
Now for the Unova gyms I鈥檝e battled in. These may be a little out of order, as I tend to be all around the region for my art/photography, and I haven鈥檛 managed to battle in all of them yet.
Nacrene City gets a good score. You just answer some simple questions and then you go to battle the gym leader. Stepstools may be needed to access high up bookshelves, but other than that it鈥檚 pretty good. 9/10. Striaton City gets a similar score for having a similar quiz system. There may be some stairs.
Icirrus Gym is only really traversable if you can ice skate. 4/10.
Castelia is a pretty straightforward maze, with puzzles involved. 8/10.
Driftveil, however (which I鈥檒l come back to once I get my hands on a nice grass type!) is a strange one. It involves a maze of girders, elevators and conveyor belts. I鈥檓 sure it would be decently accessible, but I鈥檓 not so sure about the safety. 6/10 for Driftveil.
Hope this helped

The irony of Crim asking for a glowing mushroom while I'm camping in Pok茅mon shield in the Fairy town! 馃槅
I don't have any in my hoard, but if I could only reach through my tv and grab them lol!
(The FR community is too kind, not asking for glowing mushrooms, I just thought it was funny!)
