The Faerie Journalist ✨

a piece inspired by my favorite Norman Rockwell painting “girl running with wet canvas” ft. my good time girl Aiva, and a Yew tree Faerie.

You can combine these in a lot of ways, and since I live in a city there are a lot of places nearby that fit these rolls. Local to me, these rolls would suggest Red Emma's, plein air painting, No Land Beyond, Rawlings Conservatory, The Peabody, and the Queer Art Market or perhaps the AVAM. You can also roll the same die twice to get even more combinations.

For those asking about my tools:

I'm using a vintage unbranded feather etcher wood burning tool that I got from a thrift store for $9. It's a million times better than the plastic pen wood burners I had been using until recently.

So anyway this is the second project I did 10 minutes after the first one lmao

I was kind of hesitant to tackle organic forms but this ended up being way more intuitive than trying to do hard lines & flat shading.

After completing these I definitely have a much stronger understanding of the tips + a better idea of where I stand as far as ambitions go looooool

“When There Were Dragons”.

This was an experiment for a much bigger project & I couldn’t be happier. It is not a scientifically accurate Allosaurus skull, but it is not intended to be. I carved the skull in relief and then burned the smoke swirls even deeper.

Wood carving, pyrography, watercolor, colored pencil, mica powder, and gouache. May or may not have used the kitchen sink.

I went to see Death of a Unicorn in the theater the other day, so I was feeling inspired! 🦄 I loved the design of the vengeful unicorns in the movie with their fangs and almost spinal-looking horns.
