Amor eterno

The day was joyful before Taylor laid her eyes on the picture In Front of her. She felt gorgeous in every aspect, her dress was everything she dreamed of and more, her venue was decorated just like the images from her Pinterest board she made all those years ago she so happily name “quince ideas”, her friends there to enjoy this milestone in her life, even Ashlyn was enjoying herself, she did have to keep her headphones on the entire time due to the noise, but she enjoyed herself regardless. It felt perfect all the way through and she couldn't feel more grateful to her friends (more specially Aiden and his parents for making her quncieñera possible.) But her mood was ruined when she was called up to do her father daughter dance.

One of the most important events of the night and that's when she finally got nervous. Her hands shook ever so slightly but Taylor swore she'll be brave. Her mom gave her a gift while looking at her with a sorrowful look. It reminded Taylor of how she looked before her mother started getting better, being present in their lives. It was covered by Sage green wrapping paper, just like her dress. The gift itself was obvious just by the looking at the shape, she's seen it a million times before but this feels too real. The music starts playing the moment she starts tearing the wrapping paper off to reveal a picture of Taylor and her father when he was still alive. It was the last photo taken before he died as well. Just looking at the photo made her tear up but she tried to continue.

She held the photo in her arms, slowly turning around while swaying. She couldn't hear anything else around her, only the sound of her thoughts telling her not to cry but she just couldn't hold it any longer and felt her knees go weak, falling to the ground. She let go of the framed photo letting it fall to her knees, while she held her face in her hands as she began to cry, thinking of what could have been if her father lived. While Taylor hadn't noticed or cared about the people watching her they all showed clear sympathy for the girl but none knew exactly what to do. None except Tyler.

He got up from his seat as fast as he could to go hug the girl crying on the ground. Taylor hadn't realized this until she felt his arms around her quickly looking up. Once she recognized who it was Tyler slowly pulled her back up onto her feet, placing the photo gently to the side. This time he put her hand on his shoulder and her other hand holding his, dancing with her in place of their father. Upon this realization Taylor pulled Tyler into a hug, arms now around his shoulders instead. What Taylor couldn't see was her brother also shedding tears of his own while holding onto her and staring at the photo of her and their dad that lay on the floor behind them. Taylor spoke barely above a whisper with the loud sound of the music but Tyler still heard it,

☾a/n: my friend sent me a video of fanart about Miguel and Gabriella at her quince and I GOT IDEAS NOT EDITED (i kinda wrote it in a rush so it’s not the best, but i’ll fix it later)

“Miguel did you send out the invitations?!”

“Not yet! Did you book the hair appointment?!”

“Working on it!” You called out as you balanced the phone on your shoulder waiting for the hairstyles to respond back after having you on hold.

Currently, your husband Miguel and you were planning your daughter Gabriella’s quinceañera. There were only four months left before the big event, and everyone in the house was pulling their cards.

Which speaking of the birthday girl, Gabriella came running down the stairs with a crying baby in her hands. “Mom! Othello is hungry again!”

“Hold on mijita I need to finish sewing this last piece on.” You mumbled as you held the needle in between your lips. The horrid elevator music still playing on the phone.

“Princesa can you go get the purple ribbon for me.” Miguel pointed towards the coffee table, gently taking the baby boy into his arms. “Amor did you already pump some leche?”

“Yes it should be in the fridge.” You answered back, the light, purple fabric laid on your lap. Its glittery rhinestones shinned brightly under the light as you stitched up the finale gap in the dress.

“Amor ya no hay leche.” Othello made grabby hands toward the fridge, causing miguel to pull him back before he grabbed the crema for flautas.

“Espérame,” you stood up from the wooden stool handing over the newly finished dress. “Go try this on, and tell me if it comfortable.” You handed your daughter the simple yet puffy dress. “If you need help just tell me.”

Gabriella kissed your cheek muttering a quick thank you before running upstairs to try on her dress.

“Okay,” you turned around to face Miguel. You slid your arm out of the tank top, allowing you click off the strap of your of your bra. “Quien es mi baby precioso de mami,” you tickled othello’s belly making him giggle; his hands scrunched up in the arms excitedly causing Miguel to let out a chuckle.

“You are, yes you are,” gently Miguel placed him in your arms letting you breastfeed him. The soft coo’s of your baby almost made you forget you were still on hold, until faint “hello’s” were heard.

Quickly your husband grabbed the phone, explaining how you were feeding the baby and when the party would be. You tried to hide your laugh as Miguel tried to understand what type of cosmetic terms they were talking about.

“Gracias…. igualmente adiós.” He hung up the phone placing it down on the table. “I have no idea what any of them were talking about.” Miguel huffed out as he placed his hands on his waist.

“Neither did I, can you pass me the toalla please?” Miguel did as told without hesitation placing a soft, yellow toalla over your shoulder.

“We should have another one.”Miguel commented causing you to start coughing on air. Othello tiny fist slapped your chest, trying to tell you to stop moving so much.

“Absolutely not,” you stated firmly, “I don’t think my body can take pushing out another baby.”

“It was just a thought.” Miguel mumbled making you laugh at how kid like he was acting.

You were just about to respond when your daughter yelled out “INTRODUCING LA PRINCESA DE NUEVA YORK, GABRIELLA O’HARA!” And just like that, both you and Miguel turned to see your daughter walk down the stairs in her dress.

She glowed under the lights as she held up the purple fabric in her hands. Gabriella placed the tiara on as well, only causing more tears to fall from your face.

“Guys you promised you weren’t going to cry.” Gabriella giggled as she saw her parents tear up just at the sight of her in the dress. She couldn’t wait to see how you both would react to the full glammed up look.

“You just look so beautiful mijita.” Miguel sniffled as he saw his once little girl finally reach the bottom step of the stairway. “I didn’t imagine time would go this fast.”

“First of all, I did an excellent job on the dress, osea me aventé.”

“Ama,” Gabriella laughed trying to brush off her now teary eyes. It just made her emotional seeing how her parents reacted to the outfit. She was growing up to be a beautiful, radiant, intelligent woman, and they missed the little girl who would ask them to tie her shoes before every soccer game.

“I know sorry, you just look so stunning in your dress mamas and so grown up.” You wiped away the tears before they could fall on to Othello’s face.

“I’m still you guy’s little girl.” She said with a smile reaching out for a group hug. Miguel picked up Othello wiping away the milk from his face and then placing him on his shoulder for a burping. You turned around to place you straps back on before heading towards the rest of the family.

Tears still fell from everyone’s faces, but the once beautiful sad moment was turned into pure laughter after a tiny burp was let out.

It's My Birthday!!

I'm so grateful for everyone in my life, physically and digitally. It's been a difficult year for me, but I am grateful for all the blessings I have recieved.

Without further ado,

Daphne's Quinceañera

(I do not celebrate quinceañeras in my culture, although I have been to a few, and apologize if I got anything wrong, not my intention at all)

It was finally here. The day where Daphne transitioned from a child to a woman and Daphne had dreamt of it her entire life… It was less than a week away but all Daphne could feel was dread. The party was perfectly set up, the food was gorgeous and made by Gourmand, a renowned chef, and her dress was breathtaking, handmade by her mother after months of work and research. Everybody felt ready to leave Daphne’s childhood behind. Everybody except for Daphne. She loves her independence, but ever since her relationship with Micheal, a popular boy at her school, ended she was feeling empty and worried that she would be alone forever. She pushed those feelings down and waltzed into her showroom, being meticulously organized and set up for the party of the century. Daphne inspected and approved the decorations, before leaving to call her father. Right when Daphne was about to hang up, Henry answered the phone, sounding out of breath. “Oh hey Daphne,” he panted, “what’s up?” He had been going on a run on his treadmill, his most recent escapade to stay young forever. Daphne reminded him of her birthday to make sure that he wouldn’t miss his flight and chatted with him about her life in school, growing more exhausted and insecure by the second. “Daphne, you’re smarter than this, I know you are. Why can’t you be more like Allison was in school?” Henry questioned after hearing about her most recent Biology quiz. Daphne simply sighed, knowing that Allison could do no harm in her husband’s eyes, and quickly changed the subject. After a few more minutes, Daphne said goodbye to her father and started working on some of her birthday Instagram posts.

Meanwhile, Donita was trying to keep it together, for Daphne’s sake. She wasn’t ready to see her daughter, her baby, become a woman. She could still remember her playing with her barbies, babbling on and on about something or another; now she was talking about relationships and future careers. Donita just wasn’t ready. She knew this day was coming, she just didn’t realize it would come so quickly. Daphne, on the other hand, seemed completely confident and ready to be a woman and make her own decisions. Donita wanted her to be able to have the space to do that, but worried Daphne would make the same mistakes that she did, leading to unnecessary pain and heartbreak. Speaking of Henry, Donita was finally going to see the famed new wife, Allison. The woman who caused Henry to ask for a divorce and caused the downfall of her daughter’s relationship with Henry. She wasn’t sure how she would manage to sit next to her ex and the new wife for an entire day, but for Daphne, she would manage. 

Mere hours before the ceremony, Daphne and Donita were about to hit a breaking point. Daphne quietly uttered to her mother, “I don't know if I can do this mom. I don’t want to be an adult yet,” which just about shattered Donita’s heart. Turning to her daughter, Donita had a nice talk with her daughter about all the mistakes she made and who she was at fifteen. It seemed like a lifetime ago, all those crisp autumn days in Greece, with Donita dreaming of leaving to see her life truly start. They both realized that just because Daphne was going to be a woman officially in a few hours, she didn’t have to give up her childhood.

Daphne’s 15th birthday party was one for the books. Her whole night went almost as well as it could have, with only minor incidents occurring between the guests, notably her parents. Donita didn’t end up meeting Allison after all, taking more and more obvious ways to avoid her. Daphne’s dress was as show stopping as she had always hoped, and everyone seemed happy for her. All the gifts she got from her family were so thoughtful and pretty and she was so grateful to have such a wonderful group of friends and family members who really loved her. Growing up was hard, but Daphne Donata knew she could do it.

I've made some progress on my COBB artwork. As someone who mostly draws people, I've never really drawn buildings before and it turned into quite the challenge! It was a real lesson in perspective, which I didn't learn in school. I'm not even sure if I'll use this, I just wanted to immerse myself a little more and get a sense of the world.

Side note: It's my cat's 15th birthday tomorrow, so I threw him a party! He wasn't thrilled with the many children running around, but I hope he knows it was his special day!
