Foods of Thedas: Master Post
Here is the very, very long and complete list of all dishes, ingredients, and drinks in Thedas as of Tevinter Nights.
This compiles all the canon posts. My headcanons are separate from this list to avoid any confusion but you can find it linked along with the other individual posts below.
Like in the individual posts, the list has the country of origins next to each item and any relevant information. Such as ingredients, use, notes, or trivia. For the canonically suggested foods and drinks I list what their real world uses are for your reference as to what they might be used for in Thedas.

Happy friday! The Pyramids of Par Vollen prompt from the dragon age lore list
Absolutely! Here's some Adoribull for @dadrunkwriting!
"Good book?" The Iron Bull's rumbling baritone filled the alcove Dorian had shoved himself into to hide away from the rest of the world. He wanted a day of peaceful solitude, but his chosen volume of entertainment was... Dorian placed a bookmark between the pages and shut the slim book closed with a snap.
"Adequate. Reading a travelogue written by a man who despises traveling is somewhat amusing. Frustrating, though. The author's so busy complaining about how the local cuisine isn't to his liking that he fails to describe anything else about his location," Dorian replied. He carefully maneuvered himself out of the alcove, swinging one leg out and then the other until his feet dangled over the wood floor. Bull crossed his arms and leaned against a bookshelf.
"If it's only adequate I wonder why you bothered," Bull remarked, his singular eye critically examining Dorian's face. "You're not the sort who wastes his time." He was smiling at him, as if he knew something Dorian did not, and Dorian glanced down at the title of the book he carried: Travels Through the Isles of Northern Thedas. Dorian sighed and shoved the book back on the shelf. He'd reorganize later.
"So I was curious about Par Vollen. The literature on your homeland is inadequate," Dorian said, keeping his voice light and airy like whipped egg whites. Don't put any emphasis on this. It means nothing.
"We do our best to keep it that way," Bull replied. "Though some information does get out. And some people do get in. Sorry he wasn't a better writer, though." He leaned in over Dorian and reached out to pluck the book off of the shelf.
"Perhaps you can write something. You have a way with words," Dorian suggested as Bull flipped through the travelogue.
"Nah. Better at speaking than writing," Bull said, and he stopped flipping through the book and held the page up for Dorian's inspection.
"Good sketch of the pyramids, though," he added. "They're something else. How they've survived for so long is a mystery, even to us Qunari."
"You've seen them in person? Really?" Dorian really shouldn't have been surprised. Par Vollen was his home, after all. He just supposed that Bull wouldn't much care for ancient ruins. A foolish supposition. Bull was interested in everything, after all. He was a curious person by nature, and his work as a spy honed that curiosity until it was as sharp as a knife.
"When this is all over, I'll take you to see 'em," Bull remarked. "Sneak you onto the island in a crate."
"Like cargo," Dorian snorted.
"It'll be a nice crate," Bull insisted, and he flopped down onto a nearby chair before holding the book up with a mischievous grin on his face.
"C'mon, Dorian. Read some more about-" Bull cleared his throat and put on an affected voice. "'The green wilderness of Par Vollen, with its miserable climate and detestable cuisine."
"Ugh, I told you he was dreadful!" Dorian complained, and he perched up on the arm of the chair Bull sat in. "He doesn't even offer interesting complaints! It wouldn't be such a slog if he had a little more wit!"
"Between the two of us we can take care of that," Bull said, and he wrapped his arm around Dorian's waist and tugged him a little closer. Dorian sighed and leaned over to press his lips on Bull's cheek, just below the leather of his eyepatch. It hurt his neck to twist into such a position, so he quickly returned to sitting upright.
"Very well," Dorian sighed. "The things I do for your amusement."

thinking about how padan is being exposed to things that caused countless qunari before him to doubt and he is simply ignoring them because he has a headache. obsessed with him. he's hearing music for the first time and seeing art and fashion and eating cuisine unheard of back home and seeing people. and all he can think about is how he feels scared and alone. it really doesnt help that immediately upon setting foot in the city he got blood cursed

Hello Commander Amell! Would you please be so kind and forward this letter to King Theirin? Thanks!
> Your Highness. Tales have been heard from your travels as a Warden. Could you please tell us one of your best experience among those journeys?
I've heard some rumors from our common friend that you sometimes cooked during the travels, however your taste in food seems to be.. quite Fereldan. Please tell me, what exactly in Fereldan cuisine is pleasing you the most and which spices do you use?
Best Regards,
A.<
An envelope of the finest quality with the Ferelden royal crest both stamped onto the paper and marked into the wax seal, is handed to you. It’s so pretty it’s almost a shame to break the seal. The letter is of finest parchment. The handwriting is remarkable and easy to read, a sign someone spends a lot of time exchanging words in penmanship, or a sign of a strict Chantry education.
To dearest A,
I wish to extend my gratitude for the lovely questions and for giving me a reason to meet with my dear beloved friend the Warden Commander again.
And for giving me a reason to not reply to letters concerning boring regal matters!
I thought very long and hard about the first part of your question concerning a favourite moment as a warden. The cliché answer would be “oh when I met new friends and such that I could have never found anywhere else and the bonds that grew between us were strengthened by the oncoming horde of Darkspawn; fighting, bleeding, sweating side by side and for each other only strengthening our bonds” – but bleh. You know all that is true, of course, so let me tell you something that I think back on fondly outside of the obvious.
The best experience was that one time Sten, one of our friends, tripped and fell into what was a literal lake of mud. It had accumulated there after a deluge that lasted days (my least favourite experience as a warden was most certainly not having lodgings during bad weather)… Now, this sounds rather morbid but hear me out: The reason this experience is valued so highly was that on his way down, the big burly Qunari had flailed his arms around (a funny image on its own) and accidentally nudged Morrigan, who then proceeded to also fall. Personally it was Morrigna misfortune that made this incident the best.
After those long days of trudging through the rain, laughing together about their (Morrigan’s) misery was quite a welcomed thing. Although, Sten did get rather annoyed and for a moment we all feared for our lives…
Unfortunately, Morrigan could use her magic to clean herself off without a hitch.
As I’ve written this, I realize that this still relates to the cliché I was attempting to avoid… I suppose that speaks more to what trulywas my best experience.
(As an aside, some might try and claim that I was in fact the one to trip originally resulting in Sten losing his footing when I used his very body to regain my own footing – this is not true. I swear. No matter what everyone else from our little group of misfits dare say. I am a very accomplished King who would never lose his footing just because a road is a little muddy.)
In regard to your second question, I indeed find Fereldan cuisine to be the most tasty out of all of Thedas. Good thing too; as King of Ferelden you rarely get anything else served. I am aware Fereldan food looks quite… unappetizing (Maker I am glad my cook does not read this – who knows what he might end up doing to my food otherwise). But you have to look past the shell and simply taste it.
My favourite dish is a cheese and ham pie, and since I have quite the appetite for cheese, my cook always adds some extra melted cheese on the top. It fills you up, that I can assure you (my seamstress complained the other day that she needed to make new holes in my belt…)! I can also assure you that it tastes mainly of garlic and salt – which, to answer the rest of your question, are the two flavours I will always adore.
Garlic might not be an official spice if it is fresh, but when dried and in those little tiny granules… it counts, right? Oh, let’s pretend it does (if you can’t tell yet, I was not in charge of food during my travels with the Warden Commander).
Before I make a food of myself, as our shared friend enjoys saying, I shall end the letter here. I hope this gives an insight into the man behind the crown as I surely do miss being anything but royal.
I hope this letter reaches you well, Stay safe out there, Yours sincerely,
King Alistair Theirin.
The only mistake in the letter is that you can see he forgot to sign his name as ‘King’ Alistair Theirin, the word ‘king’ smudged in small letters to make it fit.

37-50 👁👁
a few of these I already answered so those ones will be below the cut but thank you!
38. have they ever thought they were about to die? yes. the most obvious time would be the explosion at the conclave, but i think he also thought that 1) when his magic first came in as a child, 2) every time he’s ever fought a dragon and 3) during trespasser when the anchor seemed like it might kill him
39. how do they react to getting sick? i think qunari have tough immune systems so they don’t get sick often, but when they do it’s usually pretty bad. he tries not to be melodramatic about getting sick but that often turns into working too hard when his body is in rough shape and running himself ragged. also i think ehsaan gets the blight so.... that sucks,
40. are they afraid of blood? no, i don’t think so
41. how do they earn money? pre-inquisition he worked for the valo-kas, post-inquisition he’s relatively well off due to. you know. being inquisitor. but he still takes mercenary jobs with bull sometimes, and trades/sells stuff from his little farm. i think he’d like tutoring magic also
42. are they satisfied with their occupation or do they want to do something else? ehsaan hates being inquisitor. he likes helping people, but it’s exhausting, he hates hurting people, and he hates the attention it brings him. he doesn’t really care for being a merc either for the “hurting people” reason. once he gets his farm he’s relatively happy, though.
43. how creative are they? a little creative? he doesn’t really write and isn’t musically inclined, but he likes carving things from wood and has some skill with pottery/clay sculpting.
44. do they know how to draw? how skilled are they? a bit, but mostly just the amount he needs to be able to draw to sketch up plans for chicken coops and garden layouts, or a wood carving project that seems complex enough to require planning in advance.
the rest of the answers are after the read-more!
37. are they scared of anything in nature? this is dragon age so dragons have to count for this answer
45. what do they carry around with them during the day? pocket knife, journal/sketchbook and a pencil or two, staff, lots and lots of healing potions, hair ties, little packets to store plant clippings in, bits of wood to whittle when he’s anxious
46. do they have a sweet tooth? no he has whatever the reverse of that is
47. haute cuisine or cheap eats? cheap but homey
48. do they know how to swim? yes and he’s decent at it
49. do they have any scars? yes, a lot. his most notable ones are around his lips from having them sewn shut when he was young, but he has a few nicks on his face and body. post-trespasser he is also an amputee, missing most of his left arm and wearing a prosthetic most of the time
50. what kind of handwriting do they have? I read a fic once that described iron bull’s handwriting as “used to writing in careful qunari cyphers, but never quite up to scratch in common”, and i think ehsaan had a similar sort of problem when he was first learning common. he definitely tried hard to compensate for it though, and ended up with handwriting that is relatively neat but very blocky. i also think he writes pretty slowly.

Thank you for the lovely ask! It was so much fun to write. But now I'm dying to know: how did you incorporate your Filipino culture into Rhian (or any of your OCs)? I know you've said here and there, but I would love to hear more about any and all of your Bioware OCs!
I have a lot hcs about this that I always forget on the spot so I’m sure I’ll forget something lol.  So, like you most of my OCs before were white because u know how that internalized racism is. I think Rhian might actually be the first brown OC I’ve ever had tbh (which is uhhh kinda sucky since I only started playing DA like 2 years ago).
I’m putting this under a read more lol.
For Rhian, she wasn’t really filipino at first. Just ambiguously brown until I realized I can just make her filipino. Her parents were Seheron elves (not directly from Seheron just ethnically Seheron if that makes sense) who ended up working as servants in Castle Cousland. While she was growing up, her parents would try to speak and teach her Seheron as much as they could. Sometimes if her mom or dad had some free time and enough money, they’d go to the market and get ingredients (or stuff close enough) for making Seheron food and cook for her. She kinda lost most of the Seheron they taught to her because she got separated from them at a young age and grew up in the Circle. I highly doubt that they teach apprentices how to speak seheron. After Awakening, she travels all over Thedas to learn more about the dalish and elf history as well as seheron culture in order to get more in touch with her roots. I kind of modeled that after me trying to make up for all the years I internalized that hate haha. I almost forgot. In Rhian’s Queen!AU, she wears a maria clara gown at her wedding to Alistair. On causal days, she wears a baro’t saya and for more formal events she opts for a filpiniana. She also eventually gets her first tattoo from a seheron tattoo’er. Haven’t decided what it says yet though.
For Alden and Kaia, one big thing I included was that every satinalia, their family puts up a parol. Instead of the image at the center being something religous, it’s the Amell crest. (I didn’t think having Andraste on it would make a lot of sense because Satinalia isn’t about her). Funny thing though, I hc that Leandra tried to make Seheron food for them (bc the Amells are seheron obvs), but she can’t cook and also I doubt that Lothering has the necessary ingredients so Kaia, Alden, Bethany, and Carver all grew up thinking they hated Seheron food. They found out that it was just their mom’s bad cooking when Fenris made them Seheron food that was actually cooked properly. Another thing I hc is that when Leandra ran away with Malcolm, she stole the family tabo. That added to the animosity her family already felt towards her. And when Alden gets married to Fenris, they both wear barongs.
In Lu’s case, the Lavellan Clan is Seheron Dalish. They mostly used to stay in Seheron but had to leave because the fight between the Qunari and Tevinter made it too dangerous. A lot of the food I hc them to have is inspired by Filipino cuisine. For example, one of their desserts is bibingka. They also try to make use of all the parts of animal they hunt so a snack they’d have is isaw and many other filipino street foods. One of Lu’s favorites is turon and lumpia. I have a hc where she brings lumpia and banana ketchup (it might sound gross but trust me its not) with her to one of the war table meetings. Cullen tries one and thinks that the banana ketchup is too spicy lol. Lu is trilingual and can speak common, Elvhen, and Seheron. She also has a Seheron accent when she speaks common or elvhen. Another thing they do is that in addition to calling the keeper “Keeper”, they also call them “Lacan”. Lu also has her name tattoo’d in baybayin.
Bolin is half Antivan and half Seheron. His mom taught him some seheron but he’s not really fluent though he knows some words and can pretty much follow conversations. His parents also fight over what food they’re gonna have for dinner: antivan or seheron. They usually have a competition over who has better food. Bolin doesn’t mind because it means he gets to eat more.
I’m just going to talk about Neneng because I barely played ME:A to develop Bahaghari enough.
Everything about Neneng is Filipino because Mass Effect takes place in our universe. She was born and raised in the Philippines. Her nickname is very filipino. She has a long name that has nothing to do with her nickname. The first time Neneng met Kaidan’s mom, she did the “mano po”. When Neneng was growing up, she sold sampaguita garlands on the street. The whole of the Philippines stans her because she’s a successful filipino. She’s the whole package.
And in general, everyone’s names are filipino inspired (except Kaia and Bolin but all you filipinos out there know that filipino parents would def use these names for their kids).

“You should try everything once--except incest and Qunari cuisine.” Sara (and me, especially): OMG.
So, in all 7 playthroughs, that was the first time I'd heard that line. I swear I'm still learning things as things go along.

30 Day Challenge:
Day 3: Race
Talk about your OC’s race. How do they define their race? What influence does it have on their identity? What is their experience of their history & community?
Kaaras is in a bit of an interesting position. He’s a bit stuck between worlds when it comes to his parent’s upbringing under the Qun and his very human upbringing in Ferelden.
Qunari are rare down south (and that’s canon). Kaaras’ parents continued moving south from Starkhaven pretty much the day after Kaaras was born (his mother is honestly a champion lol). This meant that Kaaras was extremely isolated as a child when it came to growing up around qunari. His parents tried their best to start a new and human life for Kaaras, but they didn’t even know how money worked in the south. There are just some things that are never going to change even if moving away. It was impossible for them to drop every bit of culture. But he also never quite knew it was Qunari culture until he was much older, because his parents hid so much of their past from him.
Kaaras, essentially, grew up a very human life. He interacted with humans, he grew up around humans, (and of course some city elves and dwarves, but it was mostly humans). This meant he was subject to a lot of racism over the years, and this also means that Kaaras HIMSELF internalised a lot of that racism towards himself (and other qunari even).
Kaaras sees himself as a savage because of his differences, all of that hate and racism took a toll on him as a growing boy and man, and he honestly believes that he’s hideous. Worse, he started to think those things about qunari in general, until he grew up and met more of them when he started working as a mercenary in the Free Marches. He had a massive culture shock experience, because people were more open minded (before the invasion of Kirkwall at least). This meant Kaaras was BAFFLED when he saw other qunari as attractive, kind and not the savages everyone thought them to be.
Kaaras actually finds it very easy to talk to other qunari than he does humans about his life. Even if they are Tal-Vashoth, he still feels like they can understand him better than humans. It’s taken a lot of years for Kaaras to undo some of that racism as well, because it was all he knew, and being so sheltered meant that he had SO much to learn outside of his own home.
Kaaras actually ADORES learning about other cultures. He is a very open minded individual, and despite being sheltered, both his parents are actually very caring and loving individuals. They just didn’t have anything else to work off themselves, and his mother still struggles with Southern traditions despite having lived in Ferelden for 29 years :’D.
In this, Kaaras also learned VERY little Qunlat. He only started to learn the language when he was out of the house and mingling with other qunari. Kaaras’ first language IS the common tongue, and his Qunlat is very formal because of it. Honestly, the only things he really knew were swear words and some small words because his father couldn’t speak common that well. His mother being a Tamassran under the Qun who actually taught converts the language of the Qun, means she’s excellent at a few other languages and was able to teach Kaaras perfect common tongue. They tried to hide as much as they could from Kaaras because they wanted him to never have to suffer a life under the Qun, especially when they found out he was a mage.
He’s taken to some parts of his culture, but Kaaras has always felt too human to be Qunari and too qunari to be human. It’s a very strange thing for him to feel, but it’s also all he’s ever known. He does like learning about the Qun, and he particularly enjoys cuisine his mother took with her from Par Vollen, however, he does not agree with many things the Qun does, such as the lack of freedoms, but he also has a skewed vision of the Qun because of his ignorance. Until he’s able to learn more about it from someone willing to teach him, his views will continue to stay skewed.

Foods of Thedas: Prepared Ingredients
I separated these from raw ingredients because they either are foods/drinks on their own but are included in recipes, or involve a certain amount of cooking/processing to make them that separates them from those listed in raw ingredients. However, like with raw ingredients, I’ve only included items that are mentioned or shown in game for easy reference. Should you want to find additional and “speculative” ingredients you can visit this post or the master post.

Some old #dragonage #tevinter things aka Ideas Re-Creation times 👀 I was always BIG on the whole tevinter imperium concept. Visually one of the best aspects of DA. Inspired by Myanmar… No Wonder 🌝 if their local cuisine has something resembling the famous Burmese Tea Leaf Salad i would not be surprised (NEVER FORGET how My Inquisition protagonist was a half human qunari with Serious Superiority issues/raised among magister rockstars in Tevinter/thinks that she is Jesus incarnated…/just Happens to have made a deal with a demon who crawled into her body and remained in it for the rest of her life)

🖋 flavor
Send 🖋 and a word and I’ll tell you some headcanons relating to it!
thora has rivaini heritage on her mother’s side, and was raised on spicy food.
being from the free marches, however, she does like the local cuisine and has something of a blend. fish and egg pie with spices to drum up the flavour.
her first time in ferelden was a bit of a nightmare until she managed to find a spice merchant in amaranthine. she couldn’t be bothered to even hide her eagerness, and overpaid for the spices, but fuck it they were important.
her favourite flavour is from a spice blend similar to something like garam masala. she keeps blended spices on her throughout inquisition, though whether she uses them or not depends upon who’s cooking. i imagine that she’d be alright with most of the companions’ cooking. the only one who’s up in the air might be bull, what we know of qunari cooking is that the recipes are so strict they never have leftover cough for cookies and a pinch of sugar is an act of rebellion. so she might find bull’s recipes a little too strict, but i could also see the recipes getting looser the further he strayed from the qun, and could also see them already being that way by the time he joins the inquisition.also cole, who i’m not sure can cook. sera also has some weird recipes, i’ll bet, but they’e fun experiments.
harding, however, is a menace who thora believes would just eat a raw potato if nobody was watching.
and so we’re not just dragging ferelden: she has similar problems with orlesian food, but it’s even worse there b/c as josephine informed her, orlesian chefs get offended if she adds any pepper to the food.
she’s not all too fond of sweet flavours without a spice/salt to off-set it. when her and solas have tea and cakes together usually it’s her drinking the tea and him eating the cakes. she calls it “tea or cakes.”

🍰
Food was her weakness, especially if it came to qunari cuisine or sweets. And now there was a piece of pie slid in front of her as she sat at the tavern bar, ivory eyes lighting up as a rare, excited grin peeled across soft lips. It wasn’t long before fork was in hand, and the dessert was tasted upon an eager tongue. She realized quickly how fast she had forgotten her manners, hand cupped over her mouth as she tried to swallow before she spoke.“Thank you so much -swallow-, dear. I needed this after today.”

malachite, raspberry. only two instead of my usual half dozen, but I want answers for E V E R Y B O D Y
*takes a deep breath* i love you
ROUND I: MALACHITE
has your muse ever done anything that they winded up feeling incredibly guilty for in the end
Staris
So Staris, being one of my 2 dnd characters on this account, she has done some SHADY fucking shit. I think so far in “““Game Canon””” the biggest whoops i fucked up moment was she actually killed an NPC she was in a relationship with in game.
I can’t blame the DM for this one, this was my own paranoia after completeing a quest, I chose to burn down the Inn the party was staying at and the place blew up. Later I learned that the reason the NPC was acting so shady was because they had been hired by my character’s family to keep an eye on her, and the npic didn’t know if it was a breach of contract to fall in love or not :’)
Sappho
Big, strong, barbarian girl Sappho. She accidentally broke an Orc King’s arm in an arm wrestling match.
No repercussions she just feels bad for doing it
Visus
He regrets agreeing to go spy on the conclave at all. Especially after the whole of Clan Lavellan is slaughtered (made worse by the fact i chose to romance Josie with Visus). He feels personally wronged after that by his advisors.
It leads to his choice to also drink from the Well in game actually, which he also immediately regrets.
But Visus would have rather died knowing that his son didn’t die alone, than wonder what happened to his son in the slaughter.
Iron Bull
Iron Bull is a little more difficult (given he’s not an oc and I have no hcs written down for him), but I think depending on the time in game, Iron Bull regrets turning himself in once he began to think about straying from his duties.
Later on (and depending on the choices of the Inquisitor) he regrets bringing the Chargers into danger.
Gladiolus
Gladiolus regrets some of the things he said to Ignis after he lost his vision. He was trying desperately to stop himself from falling apart, he didn’t think about how Ignis felt. It still makes his gut lurch if he thinks too long on it, but he doesn’t apologise because it would hurt worse to do so after so long.
Prompto
Prompto doesn’t regret a lot tbh. He’s very live fast, die young, oh shit we fucked up in a lot of his endevors. If I had to give him anything, he probably regrets not befriending Noctis sooner, because now he knows his weight wasn’t going to be an issue and they could have been friends for a lot longer.
Edited 9/29/2017, read here
Prompto doesn’t have regrets. He works every day to make himself better, he learns from mistakes he’s made so it doesn’t happen again. He lives every day to its fullest. His mind set is more in the “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. He’s tried dozens of weird hobbies, and while some of them have gone better than others, he’s proud of himself for even trying them in the first place.
ROUND II: RASPBERRY
what food and/or drink can your muse not get enough of? do they indulge in it often, or is it something reserved for special occasions?
Staris
This girl, cannot get enough goddamn strawberries. She loves this so much. She’s canonically purchased a whole fruit stall’s stock for double the price in my dnd game. She will eat them literally when ever she can get her hands on them.
Sappho
Sappho is a northerner in game, so a lot of the food is smoked meats, some hearty cheeses. These choices are actually heavily influenced by Traditional Nomadic Mongolian cuisine.
So fantasy Aaruul is her food that she loves! A type of cheese made from drained yogurt/sour milk products. It’s readily available so she eats it often.
Visus
Sticking with Dalish Game Canon, Visus loves hearth cakes! As a young boy (despite his now dour demeanor) he would often plot how to get his hands on as many as he could when his mother or father would make them.
For me, hearth cakes resemble a favorite dish of mine Dorayaki save for the ingredients are mixed in and/or enclosed inside the castella pancakes.
He doesn’t eat them often after becoming Inquisitor. Sera will mention that she saw him in the kitchen early before the staff one morning making something with fruits and nuts.
Iron Bull
Since the Qunari are based on Feudal Japanese Culture
A lot of Qunari food is plain. Rice, broths, A LOT of fish, and in general easy to digest items.
One such item is pottage. It’s a thick stew (think chowder) that is mostly vegetables and sometimes meat. It’s not much, but it made him feel warm, and he misses that feel sometimes. It’s hard to fit in and feel that way when you stick out of a crowd like Bull does.
Gladiolus
Get. This. Man. Coffee. Jelly.
That’s right: Coffee flavored Jello basically, it’s served either with milk, whipped cream, cold coffee, or ice cream!
Gladiolus likes it with his morning coffee if he can swing it, but will usually eat it as his first choice in dessert.
Prompto
Prompto isn’t picky with food. He eats pretty much anything set in front of him (including Noctis’s veggies), but he really enjoys street food more so than most ““traditional”” cooking.
Don’t get him wrong! Ignis’s fine cuisine is great and all,but it’s not the same as getting food fresh at 1 am at a night market.
