Star by Nadia
Dove by Julian (They claim their more akin to a pigeon or an owl, but Julian thought dove fit better with his crow like description)
All of these can be used by anyone but its just what the main 6 refers to them as

Favorite Drink: Chamomile Tea
Favorite Flower or Plant: Lavender and Rosemary (also cause they love using the seasoning rosemary)
Abilities:
Their magic is prized on their astrological understanding, it’s an odd form of light, not exactly like fire, but more like the essence that makes stars twinkle and shine.
They play the Harp, the only reason you won’t see them do so is their magic begins to spiral when they do so.
can sew and make clothing
Was a bit of a scholar, so they know a lot and will info dump. Specifically, they know various languages, like latin and gaelic
Background/Other Info:
grew up primarily loved by their bio parents, up until the age of 11, where their bio father dies, and Zadem comes in to take care of Marium, who later dies of an illness cause seemingly caused by their depression (or at least, that’s what their doctor says)
Asta, due to the recent deaths of their parents, runs away to Vesuvia. But they stay in contact with Zadem, through letters
Meets asra at the age of 13, and the story goes on the canonical route
Fun fact: They're family is very mixed, but their father's side is very Irish!----And yes, they absolutely gained the accent
Character HCs & History:
Astarium, also known as Asta, grew up in prakra; they primarily lived directly next to star lakes. Their parents primarily worked with astrology and water magic, but Asta gained a talent for combining the two. When exhausted, their face lights up like little stars, however, despite its beautiful effect, when touched they can give burns. Asta grew up loved by their parents, when sick, Asta gained a special way of healing them, but, when the diseases had caught up to their ‘father’, Larik, their healing power was not enough, and they lost them the next year. Asta’s mother, despite being strong winded and determined when faced with Larik’s illness, Marium gains ill when he passes, not being able to handle it. Zadem, previously just a friend, immediately rushes to take care of Marium and Asta. Asta, just being an 11 year old child, can’t mentally cope and runs away due to the fear of abandonment, worrying both Zadem and their mother will die. Asta, meets asra at 15 and primarily stays with him until the canon events of the game, but unlike the canon events, asta doesn’t die from the plague for a while and runs back to prakra to attempt to find Zadem. They die over a year later, right about the time Lucio dies himself. Asra, being mistaken and thinking asta was dead, revives them right after they die, causing them to not only remember most of the events, but hate him for his primary relationship with julian that occurs. But this hatred generally fuels down considering in canon they get with either Julian or Asra. Though, while remembering the events of being left for dead, asta still can’t function properly and needs help remembering basic things, (talking, walking, writing, etc.) Asta, about 4 years (the year right after they take back the fool’s body against lucio) Asta gets in a major fight with Asra revealing they knew exactly what Julian and him had done and now they wish they would’ve stayed in their grave. Unlike the canonical MC, Asta hated being revived, they feel empty like they’re missing a part of themself and they don’t know how to properly be themselves anymore. Asta travels back to Zadith as an attempt to find a home ground. They commonly can be found stealing basic food and they have a bad habit of running into pirates.
Bad habit of biting their tongue when their upset, it’s made them bleed before and they never stop themself in time
Little picky with food, they feel bad so they won’t say so but you might find the food in the garbage later
Expresses most their feelings with magic, their not necessarily, good at using words, so they feel better showing it with their magic
Can heal and create shields from their magic, in canon during asra’s route they do learn how to make weapons with it
When angry, they have a tendency to lose control a bit, hope you can dodge cause they will throw stars at yours ass
They’ve never grown to know the full extent of their magic, while still be young, they don’t completely know how they work
Has a LOT of enemies, when they were younger, they stole A LOT, harbering the stuff so they could pay for food.
They’re quite sneaky.
Sometimes makes deals with pirates to get rides, no matter if it puts them in danger
Style preference / Clothing:
Tattoos they'd likely have:
One key one that's lore accurate is the anatomical heart they have with the words "till death do us part" underneath their chest. Even though Astarium gains Asra's heart in return for life once again, its not of their own doing or consent, therefore the ink that might've bound their relationship seems to have sufficed; Death had parted them, and for Astarium, that was permanent. {unless they get with them later on depending on the storyline, but still, point made}

Asta is shipped with all the Main 6, and other of the side characters, such as Selasi (love bread man), Nahara, nafizah, and nazali
Considering they are queer, they are open to any pairing, not limited by age gaps either, they don't have a problem with dating someone older. (yes, please I beg of you, if you would like to ship them with a character of yours---arcana universe or not---please just ask)
Playlist:
Others Art of Astarium:
Both are them with @sad-arcana-au's Vee <3
Any other info for Astarium should remain under the tag #astariumthemagician, and always, feel free to send an ask about them at anytime!

Muriel Route Rewrite | The Lovers

In which, Alec is led out of the city by a mysterious wolf, meeting an even more mysterious man who needs her help, even if he won’t admit it.
Next Part
5.8k words
Alec woke up feeling no more rested than before and after tossing and turning in her bed for the better half of an hour, decided that she might as well begin her search for the day. Faust was nowhere to be found as she got ready, but she wasn’t worried. Asra’s familiar was more than capable of keeping herself safe and entertained while Alec made the trek back to their shop alone.
The sun was still slowly rising, the dew not yet dry as she walked through the streets back home. Very few people were out, which was good—she didn’t feel like talking much at all, or interacting with anyone if she didn’t absolutely have to. After the day before… well, she didn’t remember all of it, but it had drained her.
As she approached the shop, she sighed. She hoped Julian had been telling the truth yesterday when he said he wouldn’t be returning to her shop, but she wasn’t completely convinced that she wouldn’t find him rummaging through her cupboards once she opened the front door. She could still feel the magical protection charms around the shop, which was good, at least.
But when she put her hand on the door to unlock it, it swung open.
Frozen, she stared hard at the door. Right next to where her hand had touched it, there was a horrible smear of blood, and gouges in the wood by the handle. It was like someone had broken in. But the protection charms were intact.
Fear trickled chillingly down her spine. Asra. He must have gotten hurt, and maybe that animal she saw him with before carried him here. Instantly, she ran inside, struggling to see in the dark shop, all of the curtains drawn.
“Asra?” She cried out for him, her voice choking as she took in the shop. Things were scattered about, chairs, clothes, cushions—there was even broken glass on the floor, but she was almost too preoccupied to notice that. The destruction led to the back room, but so did a trail of blood. She ran towards the room, heart pounding in her ears. “As!”
What greeted her in the middle of the room, eyes bright and yellow, pacing in front of the old couch, wasn’t Asra. It was a wolf. Alec stopped breathing. It was huge, and it was dripping blood onto the floor. She felt dizzy, wondering briefly how well she would fare if the wolf attacked.
Its body tensed, and so did hers. But when it opened its mouth, instead of a snarl came a mournful whine.
Alec blinked. The wolf whined again.
Finding herself able to breathe again, she slowly knelt down, holding her hands out towards the animal, palms up. “Hey,” she called out, voice soft. “Hey, sweetheart, are you hurt?” The wolf watched her, and she shook one of her wrists, bracelets chiming, and a small light appeared in her palm. It started to approach her, head down. When it got close enough, she ran her hand between its ears, petting it gently. “How’d you get here, hm?”
This close, she could see that the wolf itself wasn’t injured. Which added yet another question to the growing list in her mind. Whose blood was it? Why did it come here? The wolf was able to get inside the shop, however violently, without breaking the protection charms. Which meant… like Julian, this was someone Asra knew.
“Did you… are you looking for Asra?” The wolf perked up a little, tilting its head at her hopefully. She frowned, holding its chin. “Oh, I’m sorry, baby. He left a few days ago. He’s not here.”
Slumping down, the wolf whined, low and long. It looked dejected, confused. Lost. Alec stared down at it in her lap, her thoughts churning. It needed help. If not for the wolf exactly, it must be for someone it knew, someone Asra also knew. Again, her desire to help was stronger than her unease.
She shifted, lifting the wolf’s head up slightly. “It’s okay. I’ll help you. I’m a magician, too.” Her voice sounded much more confident than she felt, but it seemed to be enough for the wolf, who lit up, its tail thumping happily against the ground as it stood up again. It nudged her cheek and started walking to the front door. “Woah, hang on!”
Following it out of the shop, Alec grimaced as she thought about how much of a pain it would be to clean up the shop when she got back. For now, she just closed the door behind her, locking it as carefully as she could, and then took off down the street, where the wolf was already trotting along, checking every once in a while that she was still following.
Running felt exhilarating. She almost forgot why she was running, just enjoying the feeling of the wind in her hair as she chased the wolf through the city. She wasn’t sure when the last time was that she got to run as hard as she was. It wasn’t until the wolf led her to the edge of the forest outside the city that she came to a hard stop.
Chest heaving, she looked at the dark trees apprehensively. She’d never come this far before, at least, as far as she could remember. And it was so dark… she wasn’t sure she’d be able to see once she stepped into the shadows. Anxiety washed over her, and she suddenly wondered if she was doing the right thing.
Then a low whine came from the trees, and the wolf poked its head back out, giving her the same mournful eyes from before. She sighed. “I’m coming, baby.”
Swallowing down her nerves, she took the last few steps into the forest, glancing back over her shoulder at the last moment before being engulfed in shadows.
With the pace the wolf led and the intensity of the terrain, Alec didn’t have any opportunity to light the way, focusing all of her efforts on just trying not to trip or twist her ankle in the thick undergrowth. At least that was what she told herself. There was a pricking feeling at the back of her mind that made her feel like someone was watching her, or looking for her. Drawing any more attention to herself than her already less-than-graceful steps through the forest did felt like a bad idea.
Just when she thought she lost sight of the wolf completely, she stepped into a small clearing, the wolf next to her, hackles raised. The sunlight filtered through the leaves just enough that she could actually see around her, and she felt her breath catch at the sight. Much like the destruction wrought on her shop, but even worse, the clearing was in tatters, dirt and grass strewn about, tree branches cracked, and trunks split—as if a fight had taken place. And the smell of blood was almost nauseating, coming from a large figure in the center of the clearing.
The wolf broke from her side, bounding over to the figure. Once it moved, Alec could see that it was two figures, a larger man hunched protectively over something smaller that she couldn’t make out yet.
“Inanna…? What are you doing here? Get away!”
Alec flinched at the gruffness of the man’s voice, but the wolf wasn’t deterred, and started nudging at him for a moment before huffing and looking back at her. She felt her body freeze as the hood fell from his face, and his angry, piercing green glare settled on her.
“You.”
She almost didn’t even hear him recognize her, too distracted by the blood covering him, his face, his clothes. There was a serious gash on his forehead, still weeping blood, and as she watched, Inanna—the wolf, she figured—started trying to lick it clean.
“Oh.” She exhaled, the sight of blood and the taste of it in the air overtaking her senses. It felt… familiar, but she didn’t know why, and she wasn’t sure she wanted to know. Instead, she took a few hesitant steps towards the man. “You’re hurt.”
His gaze hardened even more. “Don’t touch me.”
She stopped, holding her hands out towards him, palms up, like she had with Inanna. “I won’t,” she whispered. “I… what happened to you?”
He relaxed a little when she stopped advancing, but tensed up again when she asked what happened. When he didn’t answer right away, she looked past him, at whatever he was crouched over, and realized he was draped over another unmoving creature. Noticing her gaze, he slowly drew back from it, allowing her to see that it was a deer. Or something like a deer. She wasn’t entirely sure, due to the feathers that trailed down its back, meeting two dull, ragged wings. Inching closer, she was able to see that where its heart should have been, there was instead a great gaping cavern, torn open by rough claws.
Her hands flew to her mouth, a cold shiver passing through her body. Whatever it was, it was something precious. She could feel the forest around her mourning, and her own eyes watered.
The man scowled, leaning back over the creature, his cloak covering it from her view again. “Leave. You’re not needed here.”
She wasn’t sure what took hold of her to answer: “but I am. She brought me here. I… I’m not Asra, I’m sorry. But I can help.” Slowly, she stepped towards him again. “Please.”
He eyed her warily, frowning as the wolf whined at his side. “I can manage on my own.” There was a flash of pain in his eyes, and she bit her lip. Around them, an eerie howl echoed through the air, and everything in Alec’s body told her to run, to get away from the clearing and the forest. But she stood her ground, kneeling down to look up at the man.
“You’ll get home faster if I help. Please, let me.” She was almost begging with him, but she couldn’t leave him alone, not knowing that he was someone Asra knew.
A number of emotions warred over his face, too quickly for her to name any of them. But after an agonizing pause, he relented, his shoulders slumping just enough for her to know he had given in. “Fine.”
He stood on swaying feet, and almost tumbled back down, but Alec rushed to his side, supporting him with her shoulder. He tensed, and she was almost afraid he’d pull away completely, but after a moment he relaxed again.
“…This way.”
As they stumbled through the trees, Alec felt like the forest was closing in on them, making it harder to see and even breathe. The mourning from before was replaced with something else, something foreboding that had the hairs on the back of her neck standing up. When a branch snapped in front of them, she gasped.
The man stopped; eyes wide. “He’s back.” Inanna growled from just in front of both of them, her fur bristled.
Alec almost didn’t even want to ask. “Who…?”
The man didn’t reply, just let out a low growl as he stepped in front of her, eyes scanning the path ahead. Around them, a wind picked up a flurry of leaves, swirling them up in the air like a tornado. In the middle, a figure appeared, snarling at them from the shadows. It lunged toward them, moving to strike, and Alec moved without thinking, putting herself between the man and the figure. She stomped her feet on the ground, and countered the wind with her own, whipping around them in a protective barrier. Her arms outstretched, she grunted as the figure pushed back, but with one more burst of magic from somewhere deep inside her, she sent it flying into the shadows again.
Shrieking, the creature readied another attack. “You can’t run from me forever!”
She wasn’t going to be able to push back against the next attack, she was sure. Before she could worry about what to do, the man grabbed her hand and started tugging her away.
“This way, hurry.”
She tried not to think about the blood staining her hand and just held onto his for dear life, Inanna running alongside her. Her eyes caught on a charm dangling in the branches of a tree; one of Asra’s charms. She had watched him make it. The charm signaled the beginning of a path, and as she looked over her shoulder, the figure chasing them lurched to a painful stop once it reached the path. Writhing in rage, the figure let out one more horrible scream that echoed through Alec’s bones as they continued to run, leaving it behind.
Alec felt a small bit of relief as they reached another small clearing, but the weight of the man now leaning on her made it so she couldn’t relax just yet. Inanna led her forward to a hut that she had no time to look over, only stumbling inside once the door was open, breathing heavy as the door swung shut behind them.
****
Struggling to catch her breath, she helped the man to the ground, where he let out a low groan of pain, leaning his head against the wall. Anxious, she looked him over, her hands still outstretched and trembling. Cracking his eyes open, he summoned a deep breath to speak.
“…Thank you. Now go away.”
She blinked. Go… back outside? When that thing was still out there? How would she make it back to the city without it catching her?
Inanna nudged her leg, shocking Alec out of her spiraling thoughts, and she watched as the wolf sat pointedly in front of the door, anchoring herself in place. She let out a small laugh, and heard the man grumble from next to her.
“Fine. Stay until you catch your breath. Then leave.”
Nodding, Alec slid down the wall next to Inanna, burying her hands and face in the wolf’s soft fur. There was something painfully familiar and comforting about the feeling of being enveloped in her fur, and Alec let out a shaking breath, feeling her body start to slowly calm down.
When she could speak again, she peeked out from Inanna’s fur to look at the man again. “Um… what was that thing chasing us?”
“No one.” His answer came quickly and in a gruff voice. Alec knew he wasn’t going to give her any more information, but just that information surprised her. He said no one. So that thing, that creature, it was someone, once.
Quietly, she pulled her head up a little more, and Inanna settled into her lap. She looked around the hut for the first time since coming inside. It was simple and warm, a fireplace crackling in the far corner. The hut seemed to have only the barest of necessities, very different from her crowded shop, but somehow it still felt comfortable. Like home. She sighed softly. It must be from the protection charms. Asra’s charms. The ones that saved them.
Glancing back at the man, she watched his chest rise and fall, breath stuttering in his lungs, clearly still in pain. Biting her lip, she spoke again. “What’s your name?”
“Why?” The way he looked at her made her feel like she should be afraid of him. But she wasn’t. Maybe because he had helped her, or because he was clearly Asra’s friend.
“So… I know what to call you.”
“Just don’t call me anything.”
Alec frowned; her eyebrows knit together. “I could just call you Asra’s big, weird friend in the woods, but I’d rather not.”
A surprised snort escaped the man, and just as quickly as she heard it, he groaned in pain again. She waited, and once the pain seemed to pass, he looked over at her again from under his dark shaggy hair. “…Muriel.”
She nodded. “Hello, Muriel. I’m Alec.”
He almost rolled his eyes. “I know who you are.”
Anxiety shot through Alec’s heart again, and she gripped Inanna’s fur tightly in her fingers. “Oh.” No wonder he didn’t seem to like her. She must have known him before her accident and now… even a man living alone in the woods would have heard about her memory loss, she assumed. “I’m… sorry. I don’t remember you.”
“Good. You shouldn’t.”
She wasn’t sure how to feel about that.
Before she could respond, he stood up, clearly done talking. Where he was sitting, there was a small pool of blood, and Alec gasped, shooting upright. Inanna whined as she was disrupted from Alec’s lap, and Muriel flinched, looking startled.
“W-we need to get you fixed up.”
“I can do it myself.” Muriel started to pull away, but Alec held her hands out in front of her.
“No! Let me help you, please.”
He stared at her, and Alec was afraid he’d refuse her again, afraid she’d have to try and make him let her help. But then, he sighed, shoulders slumping. “Fine. I’ll get the supplies.” He tried to push himself away from the wall, but stumbled. Alec caught him, her arms around his waist, shoulder propping him up.
Her cheeks flushed, but she didn’t look up at him. “I said I’d help. That means you need to take it easy.”
His body felt stiff under her touch, but he didn’t argue, and she led him to a small stool to sit on while she searched the hut for any supplies to use. After finding a bucket of water and a clean rag, she went back over to him, kneeling in front of him as she soaked the rag and held it up to his skin.
He pulled back. “What are you doing?”
“I have to clean the blood off of you to see what we’re dealing with.” When he tried to take the rag from her, she frowned, pulling it away from his reach. “What did I just say before? You need to take it easy.”
Mirroring her frown, he grumbled at her. “I can do it.”
She held his glare this time, and shook her head. “No, you can’t. Now, sit still. The sooner I can get this done, the better.”
His frown didn’t waver, but he relaxed slightly, and turned his head away. Gently, she slid the cloak from his shoulders. He shivered then forced himself still, staring at the wall and ignoring her, his blush reaching down to his shoulders. She decided to push forward, carefully wiping his skin clean.
She bit back a gasp as the blood was wiped away, his skin covered in scars. Many of them seemed to be years old, deep, not properly healed. Worrying her lip as she continued to pass the rag over his skin, she thought about her own scars, the dozen or so of which she had no idea where they came from. Where had his scars come from?
What happened to him?
As she placed her hand over a knotted mass of scar tissue, she could feel how tense he was under her touch. With most of his skin clean, she could see that he thankfully wasn’t seriously wounded; there was just a single deep wound on his side. She continued to clean, but spoke softly.
“I’m not going to hurt you.”
Startled, Muriel turned his head to look at her, and she could see in his eyes that he was calculating what to say to her. Eventually, he settled on a quiet, “I know.”
Questions pressed at the roof of her mouth, begging to be released. But she was afraid he wouldn’t answer, even more afraid that he’d push her away and she wouldn’t be able to help him. So, instead she just swallowed them down and continued to clean the blood away from the wound.
This time, he seemed less tense, and she could feel him watching her as she finished cleaning his skin. But when she sat back to study him and make sure she hadn’t missed anything, he was staring down at the wound on his side, upset.
“Is it bothering you?” That was a dumb question to ask, she thought, as soon as it left her mouth. Of course, the open wound was bothering him.
His eyes flickered to hers, clearly fighting with himself on whether to humor her or not. But she wasn’t expecting him to sigh and nod. “It’s… going to scar.”
“You don’t like your scars.” It was more of a statement than a question, a familiar ache tugging at her chest.
Shoulders tensed; Muriel went quiet. For a moment, Alec was ready to accept that she had overstepped, and he didn’t want to talk about it, or anything, with her anymore. But then he answered, his gaze hard at the ground. “They scare people.”
Alec set the rag down in the bucket, reaching out to place her hand on the knotted scar she paused on before. “They don’t scare me.” He looked up at her, frowning, and she pulled her hand back. “I just… I mean… Scars don’t make someone scary. But I get not liking them. I hate my own.”
Confusion showed on his face before he could hide it. “Your… own?”
She nodded, and put her hand over her side, just under her rib cage. “I have a lot of them, but this one… It looks like something I should have died from. But someone saved me. Or maybe I did it myself. I don’t know.” She sighed. “And that’s the problem. I don’t know. Scars… they tell a story on everyone. But I don’t know my own story. And I hate it.”
Muriel didn’t answer her, and when she looked back up at him, his gaze was dark and distant, like he was remembering something unpleasant. She waited, but when it seemed like he wasn’t going to add anything else to the conversation, she sighed, feeling a little embarrassed by her confession.
“I’m… um, I’m going to close the wound now.”
Only once he nodded did she move to put her hand over the wound. She closed her eyes, and tried to even out her breathing. Asra had taught her to patch small wounds and scrapes as soon as she got her magic back, in case he was gone one day and she was injured, but this was bigger than anything she had practiced on before. Truthfully, she wasn’t sure she could do it, especially without him.
But then she thought about the scar on her side. If she had healed that herself, that meant that she was still capable of doing it. Asra was always telling her to trust her magic to come to the surface on its own instead of trying to pull it up, and she trusted him.
She focused all of her energy into healing the wound on Muriel’s side, and heard him let out a low groan as the skin stitched itself together. Her eyes fluttered open, and she hesitantly pulled her hand from his side, only to see the wound healed, just a pale scar in its place.
“I did it,” she breathed, relief flooding over her. No sooner had the words left her lips than she was falling forward, into Muriel’s chest. She felt his hands on her shoulders, steadying her, but she was already slipping from pure exhaustion. The last thing she saw was his face, green eyes wide with concern, and then she fell into a deep sleep.
****
Alec woke up slowly, feeling disoriented. The ceiling above her wasn’t from her room in the shop, or any room in the shop, for that matter, and it wasn’t the ceiling of the palace either. Groaning, she sat up, and jumped as a wolf padded over to her, tail wagging.
Hesitantly, she reached out to pat its head, and it huffed happily, plopping into her lap. That, at least, was familiar. She remembered going to her shop, finding the wolf covered in blood, following it into the forest, and then… what happened then?
As she continued to wake up, she noticed a giant figure on the other side of the hut, and her heart started to race. With the weight of the wolf on her lap, she couldn’t move. But the wolf wasn’t reacting in any way to the man as he turned towards her, holding a plate of what looked like eggs, with a guilty look on his face.
“You’re awake.”
She swallowed, panic rising. “Um… wh-who…?”
He frowned, setting the plate down on a small table. Rummaging around a small shelf, he pulled out a satchel of herbs, and walked over to her, arm outstretched. Slowly, she took it from him, holding it to her chest. The scent of myrrh started to clear her senses, and she took a deep breath, feeling as if a fog was lifted from her brain.
Immediately, she remembered everything. Her eyes flew open. “Muriel?”
He nodded, turning back to sit at the table.
“I forgot you. I-I’m sorry, it’s never happened like that before—”
“It wasn’t your fault.” He sighed, as if it pained him to explain. “It’s a spell. People look away from me, and they forget.”
A shiver went down Alec’s spine. She had never heard of that kind of spell. For a moment, she was elated. There was a spell that might solve all of her problems of being recognized. But her joy was quickly erased by the feeling of emptiness that she was all too familiar with. Clutching the satchel, she looked up at him, worried. “Will it happen again?”
“Not if you keep that pouch on you. The myrrh helps.”
“Oh, good.” She relaxed, and started to gently pry her legs from under Inanna, who grumbled in her sleep as she was moved. “I… I don’t like forgetting things, or people.” As she made her way to join him at the table, she gave him a small, teasing smile. “Even big, weird friends of Asra.”
He blushed, and Alec couldn’t bite back a giggle. “What—I—you know what, I changed my mind. You can’t have any eggs. Go away.”
With no real threat in his voice, Alec shifted closer to him, and finally looked at the plate of eggs in front of her. “You made these for me?” He only blushed deeper, glancing pointedly away from her. She smiled, pulling the plate across the table to start eating.
As she ate, she looked around the hut again, trying to make sure it was committed to memory. It was a curious place, and Muriel was a curious man. Out here alone, with just Inanna and the forest for company. Well, and Asra, she supposed. She wondered how many times Asra had visited him in the past few years. Maybe that was why he didn’t like her, maybe Asra hadn’t been coming around to visit Muriel because he was busy watching over Alec. That thought made her stomach twist uncomfortably, and she paused in her eating, looking at him.
He startled when he caught her staring, frowning at her. “What.”
She shrugged, setting her fork down. “I want to know more about you.”
“Why?”
“Because. You’re Asra’s friend. And because you’re the first person I’ve been able to talk to like this in…” She hesitated, thinking back to how anxious she was at the palace. She had appreciated the company of Portia, but there was an awful feeling of being out of place that hung over her head while she was there. Not here. She felt safe here. “…well, a while.”
He seemed to relax just a little, his eyes studying her. His voice was just as gruff as ever when he spoke. “What kind of things do you want to know?”
Alec hadn’t actually expected him to agree. “What… um, what’s your favorite color?”
He stared blankly at her. “What.”
“Your favorite color. What is it?” She leaned forward a little, tugging at her dupatta. “Mine is pink. Or gold. I have a hard time choosing.”
“I don’t have one.”
“Oh, come on. Everyone has one.” She sat back, narrowing her eyes at him. “It doesn’t even have to be your favorite, just a color that you gravitate towards.”
“I don’t have one,” he repeated, but Alec waited. He stared furiously at the wall for a few long moments, before finally admitting, “green. It’s… okay, I guess.”
She smiled, leaning back towards him. “Green is a lovely color. I think it suits you.”
“Whatever.” His cheeks flushed, and her smile only grew.
“Do you have… a favorite flower?”
Much to her surprise, a small smile graced Muriel’s lips at the question, before she could even offer her own answer. He nodded slowly and retrieved a tiny, delicate flower from a pouch on his waist. It was dried and pressed, and a pale periwinkle color. He held it carefully between his fingers and gazed at it with something close to fondness glimmering in his mossy eyes before holding it out to Alec, placing it in the palm of her hand.
Gently, she traced the edge of her nail over the petals, studying it closely. “Forget-me-nots?”
“They feel….” He shook his head as he searched for the word, before finally coming up short. “I don’t know, I just like them.”
He took the flower back before she could look at it any longer, but she just nodded. “I get it. I like the bird of paradise flowers, but there aren’t ever any here, in Vesuvia. I’ve only ever seen them in books… that I remember anyway. But they feel… familiar.” She glanced up at him, giving him an embarrassed smile. “It’s weird, I guess.”
He didn’t answer, watching her with the same distant and slightly sad look from before.
She toyed with her fork for a moment before deciding to ask her last question. “Are you… alone out here?”
“Yes.”
“Doesn’t it get lonely?” She couldn’t imagine being alone like he was and enjoying it. Every time Asra left, she would feel unimaginably lonely, like she wasn’t meant to be on her own that way.
Unsurprisingly, he shook his head. “No. Besides.” She caught the glimpse of annoyance in his eyes. “You’re here right now. So, I’m not alone.”
“Oh.” She glanced down at the table, her cheeks burning. “I… I can leave if you want.”
He was quiet, and she thought he was going to agree. Then he sighed. “You don’t need to do that.” Surprised, she looked up at him, and he flustered, looking away from her. “Finish your eggs.”
A small smile tugged at her lips, and she turned back to her plate. That was when she realized that Muriel didn’t have any food for himself, just watching her eat. “Did you… give me your eggs?”
He flushed deeper, and frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. “I take it back. Don’t you have anything more important to do or something?”
She was about to laugh when she remembered that he was right. Her face went pale and she stood up, pushing away from the table. “Julian. I’m supposed to be looking for Ju—Dr. Devorak.”
“Him…?” Muriel frowned, standing up as well. “Why are you looking for him?”
The tone of his face made her pause, and she wrung her hands in front of her anxiously. “Well, the Countess… um, Nadia, she wanted me to question him. About the murder of Count Lucio.”
“What would he know about that?”
“Wh—he confessed. To killing the Count? We’re trying to find out if it’s true.”
Muriel let out a sound like a snort, and her eyes widened. “What an idiot. He confessed to something he didn’t do.”
Alec’s stomach swooped, first in relief and then in dread. “What do you mean?”
“He was locked up in the dungeons that entire night. He couldn’t have killed Lucio.”
“What?” She sat back down, legs feeling weak. “But if he didn’t… who did? He was our only lead, he confessed. Who could have killed the Count?”
He shrugged, looking down at her. “I don’t know. Go into the forest and ask him.”
Alec’s voice sounded far away when she spoke. “I… I don’t understand.”
“That… thing, in the woods. The creature that attacked us. That’s all that’s left of Lucio.”
That creature… was Lucio? Now that she wasn’t running for her life, Alec thought back to the creature, to its horrid appearance. A twisted, goatlike thing, that reminded her too much of the discomforting painting in Nadia’s dining hall. And red eyes that glowed like hot coals, no, like a roaring fire. Her head hurt, and she winced, pressing a hand to her forehead.
“Th-that’s Lucio? How?”
Muriel reached out towards her hesitantly, then stopped. “... I don’t know. I don’t know what happened to him. But if he’s dead, he’s doing a bad job.”
Another time, Alec might have laughed at that. But she couldn’t shake the awful sense of foreboding off of her shoulders, the prickling feeling on her spine. If that really was the Count, he had been existing in that form for the last three years. And he was angry. She believed in vengeful spirits, wholeheartedly, she just never expected to be on the other end of one’s vengeance.
Slowly, she rose to her feet again. “We need to tell Nadia everything. Everything about Julian, and about Lucio’s ghost.”
Muriel made no attempt to move, looking very much like he’d rather sink into the floor and cease to exist. “You’d better get going then.”
“No, Muriel, please.” Alec walked around the table, closer to him, but he backed up. “You’re a witness, I need you to come with me and talk to her.”
The frown on his dace only deepened. “I didn’t ask to be.”
I didn’t ask for any of this, she wanted to say, but all that came out of her mouth was a gasp before the door of the hut flung open, a figure panting heavily.
Alec’s heart soared when she realized who it was; Asra, looking very worried and disheveled. “Muriel, I need your help—our shop—”
Before he even finished speaking Alec was running over to him, wrapping him in a warm hug. “Asra!” She buried her face in his shoulder, fighting back tears as she held him.
“Allie! You’re alright.” He hugged her back quickly before pulling away to look between her and Muriel. “When I saw the blood in the shop I thought… but how did you get here?”
She glanced back at Muriel, and then frowned at Asra. “I think you have more explaining to do than I do right now.”
He sighed, shutting the door behind him. “I suppose you’re right.”

This is an Asra x fem!reader. NSFW for sure, porn WITH plot <3 this is my first post on tumblr so feedback appreciated.
——————
You walk through the dusty streets of the Market towards the palace. Hundreds of stalls loom up on either side, alive and vibrant with colors, smells, and tastes. It feels good to be back in the heart of Vesuvia.
You turn to look at Asra beside you, keeping your exhausted pace. It had been 8 days since Nadia had asked Asra and yourself to go check out some mysterious magic happenings on the outskirts of the city. You scoff to yourself, mysterious indeed, it took half the time to even track down the little pixie creatures causing ruckus and mayhem. Eventually, after some exhaustive spell casting and careful teamwork the two of you had managed to return the troublesome pixies to the proper magic realm they escaped from.
You yawn tiredly, loosening the emerald colored traveling scarf from around your neck. It was afternoon now, and the sun was beating down.
"Almost there now," Asra spoke up, breaking the silence. He looked fondly over at you, a smile lighting up his sun kissed face. Even so, you could see that the time away from home had taken its toll on him too. You were both more than ready to hit the hay.
You nod slightly, keeping back another yawn. "I hope Nadia has food for us, I'm starved." The villagers in the towns you had visited were kind and generous, but nothing could beat the delectable food that the palace prepared.
Asra chuckled, "I'm sure that right after we fill her in on the successful pixie management she'll immediately be tending to us like a mother hen. You know how she is, she loves to provide." He pushed back his curls from his face to wipe his brow of sweat, smiling as he too imagined the delicious array of food that was about to be offered. He picked up his pace at the thought, making you jog a bit to keep up.
The Palace gates soon loomed over the two of you, sparkling and gold in the summer sun. The guards at the gate looked up as you approached.
"Ah, the magicians! I trust everything went alright?" One asked, clearly recognizing the famous duo. He smiled warmly, maybe a little starstruck.
Asra returned his smile, "it was simply magical."
You rolled your eyes at the terribly overused pun as the guard gave a hearty laugh. The two of you were waved in and informed that the countess was waiting for you in the dining room.
"Oh even better," you groaned in appreciation. "We get to eat while we talk. I love Nadia." Your stomach growls in agreement. Asra flashes you a beautiful smile as his feet climb the stairs alongside yours.
"And clearly," he adds, "she loves us back!" He was particularly looking forward to some blue tongued skink, Nadia knew it was his favorite.
It only took a couple minutes to reach the dining hall. One of the servers was bustling out the moment You and Asra rounded the corner to the door.
"Oh, hello!" They said, giving a small polite now. "The countess is expecting you! Please, come right in." They moved aside, holding the large ornate door open with one of their hands.
You wink and whisper your thanks as the two of you make your way in. Immediately your mouth fills with saliva at the smell that filled the room. The table was large and being filled with platters of many foods of different origins. The gold dinnerware twinkled delightedly up at you and the red wine glimmered deep and inviting.
"Welcome, friends." Nadia opens her arms, rising from her chair. She had just been sipping on some pre-dinner tea while waiting for her guests. She was smiling, and looking absolutely magnificent in her shining purple and gold robes.
"Hello Nadi," Asra said, joining you and her in a quick hug before seating himself at the table. You follow, sitting beside him as Nadia resumes her seat. The servants bring the last platter of steaming dumplings out at that moment.
You sigh contentedly. "This looks amazing Nadia, I feel spoiled."
Nadia smiles, the faintest blush on her high cheeks. "Anything for my favorite magicians, willing to travel far and wide in aid of Vesuvians in need." She adores, raising her wine glass. "To my dear friends, what I would do without you, I wouldn't know."
You and Asra raise your glasses with her, each of your own cheeks now a healthy pink. Nadia declares the meal to begin and you all dig in.
"Oh my, what troublemakers!" Nadia declares, after hearing the story about the pixies. The food was being relished amongst every plate and the wine was flowing steadily. "I can't believe such tricky little creatures exists." She continues, eyes sparkling as she pours another cup of wine.
"Yes, well, the magic world is something else entirely." Asra laughs, relaxed and feeling full. He was lounging comfortably, one hand gripping your thigh, another holding his gold goblet. His skin was warm and aglow.
You had your own hand comfortably nestled in his snowy white locks, massaging slow circles into his scalp. It had been a long 8 days and you were both happy to finally be able to relax into each other while having pleasant conversation.
"You should have seen the way they caused mischief," you add. “Oh I felt terrible for that village. So many upside down cows to turn over." Asra smiles as you tell the story, closing his eyes and leaning into your gentle touch. It was, to put it simply, the best feeling he could imagine. Well, almost.
Nadia chuckles again. "Well, I'm just glad that they are gone and we can laugh about this." She says, sighing in slight relief. "Vesuvia is fortunate to have two talented magicians like yourself. I am fortunate to have you as my friends. Your well deserved payment is in your guest room."
Asra blinks, "oh, you're offering us a place to stay tonight?" He asked, the gratefulness clear in his tone. You couldn't help but agree, walking back to the shop did not really sound like something either of you wanted to do. Especially, you muse, lifting your glass to your lips, after how many wine jugs the three of you had emptied.
"Why of course," Nadia looks surprised that we even had to ask. "And," she continued, "use of my personal bath this evening. You two more than deserve some relaxation and.. fun." She ends her sentence after a slight pause, giving you both a side glance full of humor.
You feel your cheeks go slightly hotter at the obvious suggestion. However, embarrassment aside, nothing else sounded better right now. You look down at your lover who was now lounging against your lap and smile. Oh how far too long it had been, the pixies had been relentless and had not offered much down time.
Asra chuckles, clearly more comfortable with the suggestion. He always had been a bit more confident when it came to discussing your private life. You found it quite endearing.
"Oh Nadi," he smiles. "You just made this evening even better somehow. I can't wait to take my love there and-"
Nadia waves her hand, laughing at your horrified face. "Please, please, I certainly don't need to know details." She grins, "just go, and take the wine."
Asra didn't need more encouragement and sat up promptly. He looks down at you, a shadow of hunger in his lilac eyes, offering you his hand. You take it, biting your lip as his gaze continues to rake over your body in the sort of way that makes you squirm.
"Thank you, Nadia." You say breathlessly, and a little sheepishly.
Nadia smiles, "anytime." She says, laughter still ringing in her voice. "Now go, before Asra here makes love to you on this table."
Your eyes open wide, shocked to hear her say such dirty words before ducking your head down in embarrassment.
Asra rests his hand on your shoulder and leans down to whisper in your ear, "you heard the lady." His voice is sultry and thick with want. "The table is looking awfully inviting right now."
Quickly, you turn and head out the door, Asra following close behind. The bath is not far down the hall and the two of you make great time. Asra's hand is at your waist, pressing in such a way that you know means desire. You hadn't realized how badly he had been missing you.
You make it to the door and turn to look back at your lover. You gulp at the hot scene behind you. Asra's eyes are half-lidded, purple irises cloudy with lust. His shirt is already half unbuttoned, revealing his delicious golden tan skin, smooth and beautiful. He's looking at you in a way that makes you think he hasn't eaten in a week and you are a five course meal.
He closes in, pushing you against the door and reaching for the handle. "You're terribly slow," he says, voice already rough, desire prominent. He pushes the handle and the latch clicks, the door swings in behind you.
The two of you tumble into the sweet smelling room. Obviously Nadia informed a servant ahead of time of the use of this room because the bath was already filled and steaming. On top of the water pink rose petals float, filling the area with a soft floral scent.
Asra closes the door with a soft click and looks over his shoulder at you. "Oh my dear," he murmurs, taking the couple strides to wrap you up in his strong arms. "I've missed hearing you cry my name, kissing those lips, and feeling your skin." His fingers travel up your waist and over your stomach. They linger, just a moment at the swell under your breast before finally cupping your face in his hands.
You tremble under his touch, body suddenly aching with need. You bring your own hands up to his chest and splay your fingers out so you can feel his heart beating. It's fast and erratic, excited to be close to you.
"Sweetheart," Asra whispers, voice heady. It's intoxicating to hear him talk to you in such a way. You look up at him and catch him licking his lips. You bring your own up to meet his, tongue out to capture his. He groans, melting into the kiss, gripping your hair so tightly it's almost painful.
You gasp, mouth opening and he runs his tongue along your lips, tasting the wine you both had shared. "Delicious," he says against your skin, tasting more and more. His hot open mouth kisses travel from your lips to your cheek, jaw, and finally resting on your neck. Asra loves to leave marks, and he takes your skin between his teeth intending to do exactly that.
Your moan comes out hoarse and you feel heat starting to pool between your legs. They feel shaky and weak, unable to withstand such torment.
Asra steadies you and pulls back briefly, cheeks flushed hot, want written all over his face. "We," he states, "are wearing far too many clothes for a bath."
You laugh and take his shirt in your hands. "I agree," you say, pulling at the remaining buttons. They come free easily and soon a glorious, shirtless Asra is standing before you. You drink in the sight unashamedly, totally enthralled with your lover. Gradually, though slowed by each other's groping hands, you both end up undressed.
Asra grabs your thighs and hoists you up onto his hips. You wrap your arms around his neck and press your breasts into his soft skin. He groans appreciatively, nuzzling his face into your chest breathing deeply, and walks the two of you over to the edge of the bath.
The water is still very warm as it licks your skin. You jump in surprise and moan slightly as it overtakes your aching folds and up over your ass. "Ahh-" you sigh, slumping into the crook of Asra's neck. "This is so good."
Asra hums his agreement before taking your chin between his fingers and directing you too look at him. His eyes are swimming with love, need, and an absolute desire to ravish you. You swallow hard, unable to look away.
"I want you." He says simply, barely above a whisper. He maneuvers your body so your back is against his chest. You lean your head back into him and relax in the fragrant water. Asra snakes his left arm around your waist and trails his fingers from your belly button downwards.
You bite back a squeal as his trained fingers circle the small nub at the top of your slit. He adds pressure, rubbing you in a manner that makes you crazy. Your hips wiggle back and you feel him, hard and straining, pressing into your ass. His breath hitches only for a second before he leans down to pepper soft kisses on your neck and shoulders.
His other hand makes it’s way up to your right breast and he expertly rolls your perked nipples between two fingers. Your whole body shudders in response to his actions.
“Ah, fuck Asra,” you choke out, moving your hips to meet his fingers as he slides them down your slick towards your now dripping hole. He wastes no time plunging two in, enjoying the feeling of your walls tightening around him.
Asra lifts his lips from your skin and brings his mouth to your ear. “You’re so ready for me, aren’t you. Pretty and wet for my fingers, aching to be filled.” He curls them as he says that, relishing in the soft gasps that fall from your trembling lips.
You groan as he licks the shell of your ear, hot breath teasing on the sensitive skin. “You,” your voice falters a second as Asra’s fingers continue to explore your insides in a way that makes you grip his strong thighs on either side of you. “You are ready for me too.” You finally gasp out, finding the strength to grind back against Asra’s swollen cock. You knew if you could see it, it would be an angry red and leaking precum, desperate to be buried to the hilt inside of you.
Asra’s breath comes out in a short gasp that makes you smirk in satisfaction. At least you still have a little control left. That thought flies out your brain a second later when Asra pinches your nipple hard then twists, making you cry out in painful pleasure.
“Watch yourself, my love.” He coos playfully, no remorse in his words. You grit your teeth, taking in the torture that both of his skilled hands are laying upon you. You know what he wants, and it is oh so tempting to give in. You’re almost at war with yourself as your back arches on its own accord in rapt pleasure.
“Oh please, please.” You finally break, body shaking. You reach your arms back and thread your fingers through Asra’s fluffy locks before gripping hard. “Asra please fuck me already.” You plead, unable to care anymore that you were begging.
You feel Asra’s fingers slow to a stop inside you and then remove themselves. You almost groan in disappointment but you know better.
Asra flips your body around so you’re straddling his hips. You gasp when suddenly you’re faced to face with your beautiful lover. He looks positively stunning, the soft moonlight coming in from the high windows bathing him in a pearlescent light. His skin is glowing with a cool sheen, and his breath is leaving parted lips shallowly. Not to mention, his hard cock straining against your stomach, just begging for attention.
You bring your hand down and rest your index finger lightly on the slit. Asra shudders at the touch, but certainly not complaining. He’s slick, just as you expected, and you lightly circle his tip.
“You go on and on about how ready I am.” You tease, “but look at you, practically cumming into my hand already.” You lift your fingers and bring them to your mouth, tasting his salty sweetness. Asra’s diet is rich with fruit and vitamins, and oh how you loved how he tasted as a result.
Watching you lick your fingers coyly has Asra’s eyes drooping with lust. “My dear, oh my love,” he whispers. “How I am going to fuck you until I fill you with that cum you love so much. Because it’s true, you love it don’t you.” He says, voice sugar sweet, expecting an answer.
You blush, despite your best efforts. You look at him, but he only blinks in return, waiting.
“Yes,” you whisper, voice thicker with need than you realized. You give up trying to be bashful. “Yes, yes. I love your cum, how it tastes, how it feels when you fill me up. I want it so bad.” You beg, looping your arms around his neck so your lips are just inches apart. “You have my heart, soul, and body.” The words tumble out naturally, “and gods, do I need you now.”
Asra bites your bottom lip harshly before fully overtaking your mouth with his. He’s moaning, almost desperately, into you. “I love you, my dearest one.” He pants, gripping your ass with his hands. You feel your hips being lifted up and your body quakes knowing what’s coming.
You feel the tip of Asra on the heat of your slit and you sigh deeply, “I love you too, Asra.” You say, bending your neck so your head rests on his muscular shoulder. Your lips find a sweet spot on his neck, an anchor, as he lowers you down onto him. It’s tantalizingly slow, allowing you to feel every inch as you sink lower in the water until he’s fully sheathed in you.
“Oh gods,” Asra groans, both from feeling you pulse around him and from your playful lips on his neck. “You are a gift to me.” He says, breathless from the feelings.
You smile, in delight from your lovers sweet words. Slowly and carefully you lift your hips up, at the same time dragging your tongue up his smooth neck to his ear. You suck and nibble on the lobe as you find your rhythm, bouncing steadily on the thick shaft. He feels absolutely amazing in you, filling you perfectly.
Asra grips your butt underwater with his strong hands and leans his head to the side, giving you better access. He guides your hips to a steady pace, humming appreciatively when you comply. “It has been far too long since I’ve felt your sweet pussy squeezing me like this.” He says, without skipping a beat.
You don’t have time to blush before he picks up the pace, leaving you moaning loudly into his ear as he hits the spot that makes you crazy. “Ah fuck, I agree, I do agree.” You manage, finally finding the words.
The water sloshes around your two bodies, stirring the rosy scent into the air. It’s smells amazing and makes you dizzy with pleasure as every sense seems to be met. Asra huffs gently next to your ear, holding you tightly against his body.
You savor the feelings of your chests sliding against each other, the feeling sleek from the warm water and sweat mixing. Your hips meet his, snapping against each other with quick splashes, making you see stars as he hits every time the spot that has you go wild.
The muscles in your lower stomach tighten and you know it’s only a matter of time before you’re screaming Asra’s name for the whole palace to hear. “Baby,” you say breathlessly, kissing any skin you can reach. His cheek, the corner of his eye, his plump lips. “I’m going to cum.” You whisper into his mouth. He swallows your delicious words and licks your lips in response.
“I love when you do that,” he says, a slight chuckle in his words. He wraps his arms tightly around your middles before bringing his hands up to your shoulder blades and raking his nails down your spine. You shudder at the erotic feeling and arch your back against his hands. He sighs happily when you give him access to this gorgeous view, stretched out before him, stomach and tits shining gloriously in front of him. He puts his mouth on your bellybutton and licks up to the cavity between your breasts.
“Oh mmm,” he hums, pleased with the sweet taste of your skin. “You are a delicacy amongst gods.”
You flush looking down at his lustful face, sucking on your skin, leaving marks where only he will see. He latches on to one of your nipples, moaning in immense pleasure at the feel of it in his mouth. When he nips at the sensitive skin you jolt, a small disruption in the steady bounce of your bodies.
“Damn,” you curse, words choking in your throat. Your nails dig into Asra’s shoulders as he re-establishes the torturing rhythm that has you shaking desperately against him.
“Let go for me,” he suggests in a sultry whisper that has you reeling with a feverish desire. The pressure in your core is building at an alarming rate as Asra thrusts into you, filling you every time to the point where you can barely hang on.
“I-“ you falter, eyes rolling as you feel that familiar tingle across all your limbs. Oh gods, you can’t stop it now. “Asra, oh fuck, ASRA-!” You scream head thrown back. Your walls clench, and the knot comes undone. It’s amazing, you almost want to laugh in pleasure at the feeling of coming around Asra’s cock. It’s so good you almost forget to breath.
Asra curses under his own breath as he fucks you through your high, barely holding on himself. You bring your head back down and kiss him deeply, tongue joining his. It’s a short lived battle to hang on and in a flurry of short gasps you feel him cumming inside you, unable to stop himself from the uncontrollable waves of pleasure that come from your hot walls clenching around him.
You both continue to kiss each other lovingly, slowing down gradually until you’re sitting on his lap. Eventually, you pull away a couple of inches, looking into your beloved’s eyes.
“Hello,” you say, smiling at your favorite magician. Asra’s eyes crinkle as he smiles, looking at you through hazy eyes. He kisses you again, gently, pleasantly.
“Hello,” he returns, after a minute. He runs his hands up your back, massaging as he goes. “You,” he adds lovingly, “are so beautiful.”
You smile adoringly. “Thank you, Asra.” You remove yourself from his lap and wade through the water towards the collection of bottles on the wooden shelf nearby. You grab a few that you felt suited the two of you best and turned to your lover. Asra had lifted his arms to rest on the sides of the bath and was looking at you with admiration.
“May I wash your hair?” You ask setting down the bottles, but keeping a lilac scented shampoo for Asra. He smiled at you, his face soft and kind.
“That would be amazing, my love.” He said, leaning his head back into the water to dampen it. You squeezed some of the lovely smelling shampoo into your hand and waited. Asra emerged a moment later and kissed you adoringly on the nose.
“Thank you,” he breathed. “For always taking care of me.”
You kissed him back, a peck, before turning him so his back was facing you. You rub your hands into a lather before working them into Asra’s soft hair.
“I always will, forever.” You say softly, happier than ever.

Rough
Asra x MC smut, I think the title speaks for itself 😏
Gender Neutral MC
(Disclaimer: Based on Asra’s route. 🍋🍋🍋 warning!)
The shop’s supposed to be open right now. In fact, the shop is open right now. You shouldn’t be upstairs when anyone could come walking in, but here you are, lying in bed with half of your clothes torn off and piled on the floor. Asra’s hovering over you, breathing hard and pushing his hair out of his eyes.
He always had a taste for adventure. “No one’s been around in hours,” he had said. “Come upstairs...” And you had. You’d always come when he called because it was just too good. He was just too good.
So here you were, eyes shut and savoring the feel of their hands on your body as he works your clothes off. Gods, he’s shaking. He wants you so badly--you can feel it. He leans down to whisper in your ear, breath warm against your skin.
“I’ve been thinking about you all fucking day.”
You pull him by the collar of his top and bring his face to yours; you’re just a breath apart.
“Prove it.”
In the back of your mind you wonder what would happen if someone really entered the shop--would they hear you whine when Asra leaves kisses down your neck? Or would the sound of the bed banging against the wall when he finally starts screwing you scare them off?
The thought lingers in the back of your mind and you find your face heating up in a feverish blush when Asra strips the last of your clothes. You lean your head back and watch them admire you with lusty purple eyes.
“Come on....” You beg. “What’s with the change of pace?”
Asra hides a smile, not taking his eyes off you as he starts taking off his own top.
“Just figuring out what I want to do to you.”
“I thought you’ve been thinking about me all day... shouldn’t you already know?”
He chuckles and leans down, shifting his weight on top of you. He’s hard against you now, and oh gods, it makes you ache. He knows it too; he smirks when you lose your breath.
“Asra...”
“Are you still worried about customers coming in?” They ask.
“Not even a little.”
“Good. Because I’m going to make you scream tonight.”
With that, he devours you. Starting with kisses along your neck and chest, he leaves no inch of your skin untouched. He runs his teeth against you and grips your thighs until your skin glows red.
He says he wants to make you scream, but his moans are just as loud as yours, if not louder. He’s calling out your name but footsteps outside the shop make you gasp. You can hear them through your bedroom window, but Asra seems too lost to notice it.
Is someone near? Are they going to open the door? What if they decide to come upstairs...?
“M/c...” Asra brings you back to the moment. His chest is rising and falling quickly now, and the world melts away when your eyes meet again. “Ready?”
“Yes. Yes. Yes!”
He presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, and everything seems to freeze until he enters you. Finally...
“Fuck...” He whines. “M/c...”
He holds your hands down and interlocks your fingers with his as he strokes, working slowly but surely building up the pace. All you hear now is the sound of heavy breathing and the occasional whimper. He pushes himself deeper and deeper until he’s completely inside you- and his face only inches from yours.
“Someone’s going to come in,” you whisper. He only smirks.
Make up your mind, you think. Are you worried or not?
Asra sure isn’t. He could care less if anyone heard the two of you, judging by the sounds he’s making.
You think back to the footsteps you had heard outside the window, realizing no one ever came in. You’d know if the shop door opened by the chimes above the ceiling- and neither of you locked the door before stumbling up the stairs.
With a groan, Asra lets go of your hands and nuzzles his head against your neck, giving you opportunity to hook your arms under his and grab his back, as if you could pull him any closer to you...
Closer... you’re getting closer...
When you start digging your fingers in his back he takes the hint and grabs the base of the bed- and starts fucking you.
Your back seems to pound against the bed with every stroke, and its taking everything you’ve got not to come just yet. You can’t now! It just started getting rough.
You look up, watching Asra try and catch their breath in between movements- slowing down just enough for you to lose the orgasm you were building up. You let out a frustrated sigh, but you see a smile on your lover’s face. It’s that mischievous, playful look you love so much.
“Did you think I’d let you cum that fast?” He teased.
You can barely let out a whine before he builds you back up again. So that’s how it’s going to be...
You’re not sure how much time passes by. Truthfully, by now anyone could have come into the shop and you wouldn’t have noticed. All you hear is the sound of your heartbeat pounding against your chest and the shaky moans Asra lets out when you move in sync with him.
He starts over and builds you back up, still holding on to the headboard and letting it bang against the wall. All the while he’s sweet-talking you, moaning your name into your ears and telling you he’s all yours...
Every time you start to peak, he slows down, until your frustrated sighs finally send him over the edge.
He pounds you into the mattress until you stop holding back.
“Asra-!”
You dig your nails into his back when you come- but he doesn’t stop yet, and you shudder and writhe against the sheets until your desperate moans lead him over the edge, and he comes calling your name.
Only when he stops do you realize how much noise the two of you made. He collapses against you, laughing with exhaustion. You join in and run your fingers through their hair while the two of you catch your breaths.
“Whoa!” You finally say. “Yeah. Whoa.”
He flips over on his back next to you, and you both stare at the ceiling for a moment. You wonder if he’s doing the same thing as you are; wondering if any customers had come in during those final moments when the world didn’t seem to exist to you.
“You know...” he starts. “It’s close to closing time anyway. No one ever comes in this late on a weekday.”
“Right,” you agree. “Right. Yeah! We definitely would have known, either way...”
Asra’s hand finds yours. It’s warm and gently calloused, and fits perfectly with yours.
“Maybe we should close up early tonight.”

aphrodisiac, party of three
muriel x reader x asra
in which asra tries to slip his lovers a pill and it backfires
warnings: mentions of toys, overstimulstion, mentions of aphrodisiac, genderneutral reader with feminine parts mentioned maybe once? pegging kinda, size kink, polyamory?? dunno if that should be a warning, i'd say no, but lots of cum, oral, mentions of exhibitionism, a little praise, overall fluff, muriel and reader have consented to asra surprising them with aphrodisiacs they just wanted to be little sadists
a/n: @diysyfhcjtssuiteryyxhcft saw your rb and i honestly just couldn't ignore, your brain is beautiful, loved your tags btw

muriel hummed, nuzzling his nose into your neck with hands on your waist to keep you from falling down as you whimpered and kept asra's gaze.
"i'm sorry." asra cried, tears threatening to spill down his face. sobs escaping his lips as he would've surely fallen to his knees had he been sitting down. "pl-please! oh stars— please let me go. i-i can't —"
his brows furrowed and you knew from your glossy eyes that this would be a long night if asra didn't give up and just tell muriel what he would achieve by sneaking the both of you an aphrodisaic.
he'd felt so ashamed and betrayed, but it was his own fault.
"next time don't take both pills, asra." muriel chided as he eased you down so you were half sunken down onto his cock. watching your eyes become dazed and beginning to close from how fucked out you already were with him stretching you so nicely.
asra hadn't meant to take both pills and he would've taken a third one had muriel not been so slick with his hands. he slipped both spiked drinks into one and asra's eyes lit up at the prospect of muriel taking both. licking his lips and meticulously eyeing both of you at the table, waiting for you both to start squirming.
but it was him who found himself sweating and fisting his cock at the dinner table, whimpering when he came in his pants. finishing a second time when muriel tossed him over his shoulder and his hard on brushed muriel's taut muscles.
muriel figured the best thing to do was have him sit and watch how pretty you looked sinking down on his shaft. you were huffing and your head was leaned back on the bigger man's shoulders, gripping his hands that had your thighs in a relatively soft hold and stilling when you were half on his cock.
"is he begging?" muriel asked, his voice void of any of the teasing that asra gave all evening, subtly groping you and muriel trying to get a rise out of you.
he was sat gasping, tears streaming down his face and sweat making his pretty white locks stick to his forehead. mouth ajar and body jolting harshly against pretty maroon ropes every time the dildo vibrated violently, resembling the twitch of muriel's own cock.
muriel wrapped an arm around your waist when you didn't respond. he held you tight to his chest and the warmth between the two of you and sweltering where your warmth met muriel's cock was dizzying. but his callous fingers made you quiver when they cupped your cheeks, tilting your face in his direction so you could see his hair pulled back from his face and gazing down at you expectantly. it was a sight that always made your walls flutter around him.
he gave a bit of a smile, leaning down to press a sweet kiss to your lips and pulling away to make sure your focus was solely on him. "is asra begging?" he hummed, watching you nod, drool slipping from out the corner of your mouth when he lowered you further down on his cock.
"m-muri.." asra whimpered, teary eyes tracing over you and muriel. you, who was dishevelled, covered in muriel's drying spit and dark marks that littered your body. muriel himself was stripped of everything except fading hickeys that littered his thick thigh muscles that flexed every time your tight little hole fluttered.
muriel's eyes flicked up to meet asra's and a hungry look came over his face, lips finding your neck as you moaned weakly from his hand curling around and playing with your clit.
"want to cum?" muriel asked, reaching over to his phone where the dial was set low. staring at it and still holding you as his thumb slipped and played with the setting and listening for asra's pitched gasps before leaving it alone and turning down the toy.
"please." asra whimpered and muriel loosened his arm around you.
your ass meeting his hips and a squeal ripped from your throat when you felt a coil in your belly suddenly snap. muriel's fingers rubbing your sensitive nub while your hips grinded wildly to ride out the pleasure, but your sweet release had you feeling spent. you were held up by muriel's arm wrapped around your waist, his hand spread on your chest helped you to lay on your side allowing for the large man to press his lips to yours and curl your leg in the crook of his elbow.
he opted to slide out of you and you huffed, pulling away panting when you felt muriel's fat tip being only left inside you before he thrusted back inside in a quick smooth thrust. your legs shook and your cry had asra painting his thighs and stomach with ropes of cum that just added to the mess in his lap.
muriel's lips quirked into a smirk as he trailed kisses down your neck, picking his thrusts up as you cried out for him.
he leaned back, taking your wrists in one of his hands while one of his curled on your waist keeping you slightly propped up so he could fuck up into you.
"have you learned your lesson?" muriel called, starting to lose himself to the feeling of your warmth squeezing around him. asra jolted in the chair again, nodding and licking his lips, throat near dry from how much he'd been crying out.
"i can't hear you." muriel's voice pulled asra from his cockhungry gaze watching how muriel's cock disappeared into you at such a fast pace.
"yes! yes, please! i'm sorry. let me touch." asra's voice broken when muriel stilled, making you whimper and cry at being so close.
"undo his ropes."
you'd never done a spell so fast. as soon as asra was free, muriel continued his relentless pace into your fluttering hole. asra scrambled from his seat, careful to keep in dark pink dildo before seating himself between muriel's thighs and forcing you down so your hips were flush with muriel's.
"asra, what are you—" muriel's voice came choked when he felt asra lapping at his balls. thighs quivering as the knot in his stomach threatened to snap and asra's mouth moved to lick a thick stripe up your sex making you cry out and both you and muriel cum together.
muriel allowed you to fall beside him, smiling softly at the fluids leaking down his shaft as he pulled out of you. asra took his place on muriel's lap, a distant gaze clouded with lust and adoration made muriel give a smile. his hand tracing up asra's stomach to pump him a few times, kissing his slit and watching him come undone.
asra dropped left of muriel and you hastily sat up, watching as muriel deprived asra of the dildo stuffed in his ass. muriel parted asra's cheekts to show you his clenching and gaping hole.
you crawled over muriel, legs giving out halfway like a new fawn before muriel pulled you between him and asra so you could curl around your exhausted lover.
"you okay?" your gentle kisses were met with asra's lips, plump from biting them before he gave a smile, running his hand through his hair before being greeted with muriel's shy kiss and then you poking your lip out from him pulling away.
the two laughed at you, softly and full of mirth, muriel tugged you both into his chest.
"i couldn't imagine us on a stream." muriel admitted, face digging into your neck while asra's fingers combed through some of the knots in muriel's hair.
"i could." you sighed, "think asra's fans would go beserk if they knew you were walking around hung."
asra snickered, pressing kisses to your face, "they didn't believe me."
muriel's face whipped around to asra and you laughed, pulling yourself closer to muriel.
"i said they didn't believe me."
asra settled down, head on muriel's chest as he stared up at you from where you sat in one of his shirts. "and you," he gave a smile reaching up to bring you down for a kiss and you felt yourself fluster upon noticing the both of them staring at you with such loving eyes. "you're gorgeous for no reason."
muriel hummed his agreement and leaning over to press kisses over the side asra's face before stopping to look up at you.
"you say that like you're not." you smiled and leaned down to tease muriel's lips making him huff and tug at your sleeve. you laughed and gave in, kissing him before asra tugged you away, fishing for the same kiss.
"tell him he'd be an amazing co-star, baby." asra buried his face in your neck, peeking out of it while you rubbed underneath one of muriel's pecs with a smile that always made him melt.
"you'd be a star, baby." you grinned making muriel scoff and hoist himself up off the bed in an attempt to hide the fact that he was flustered.
"that's enough you two." he pecked both your cheeks before going off to the bathroom coming back to find asra passed out and you starting to fall asleep yourself.
he cleaned both you and asra up, asra opening his arms to be carried to the bathroom while you sat on the bed. you laughed when muriel came back with asra asleep in his arms, grabbing his shirt off the floor while you helped pull the shirt onto asra.
"he fell asleep as he was using it." muriel chuckled into your neck, sitting against the wall and going through his phone as he waited for you to finish.
"that's what happens when you get dicked down." muriel was about to protest when you continued, "by you."
muriel only pouted, shaking his head and changing the subject, "asra showed me julian's stream."
you raised your brows, standing on wobbly legs to wash your hands when muriel came up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist acting as your groundings as he thought.
"how was it? i expect his to be kinky."
"nadia's is kinkier. she has portia for a partner." muriel replied, barely giving you time to dwell on your thoughts. "she had ropes and temperature play, but-"
"you know asra isn't going to force you to do something you don't want to." you curled into muriel as you both laid on the bed. asra finding his way to cuddle into your side while muriel wrapped his arm around the two of you and hid his face in your neck.
"we'll do what you want to do." you kissed his jaw, sniling against his scruff before pulling away to curl your fingers in asra's hair.
he sighed, watching you drift off. his hand slipped up your shirt to play with your nipple and watching you sigh and relax more before deciding to close his eyes. the only thing he could think of was you sporting some garter belts and asra's ass sharing the same dark pink as the dildo he cockwarmed today.
he sighed when he felt himself harden, wanting nothing more than to take care of his problem but his hand collided with someone else's.
muriel's eyes cracked open and he found asra carefully knelt between the space between you and muriel's tangled legs, stroking him and pressing his cheek to his thigh.
"thinking about us?"
muriel huffed, swatting asra's hand away to flash a soft smile as if asra had tried to tickle him. "still feeling the pills?"
asra nodded, licking his lips, "are you going to help?"
muriel pondered the thought, chewing his lip and grabbing the dildo, "go get my phone."

How's about some brat!Asra with [ volume ] your muse demanding mine speak louder . Jinana deserves some fresh meat today.
[ Acts of Dominance Prompts ]
"Hm? What?" Asra does not pause in the action of sketching, the silver-pointed stylus scratching delicately over the zinc-coated paper resting on the counter before him.
Jinana's voice floats down again from the kitchen above, hir request perfectly understandable in the quiet shop.
"Louder, habibe, I just can't hear you." The scritching of Asra's stylus, also perfectly audible, does not cease. A strange sphinxlike creature is taking shape on the page, crouching over the supine form of a man like a predator, or perhaps a lover. The sphinx and the man both have a rather familiar cast to their features.
He feels rather than sees JInana appear at the stairs, senses hir dark gaze raking over his back. He does not turn as hir light footsteps arrive behind him, though he feels the little hairs rise up on the back of his neck as s/he speaks directly into his ear in that low, controlled purr:
"Don't think I don't know what you're angling for, jaanu." S/he laughs, a husky, thrilling sound. "But you'd best get to those errands first." A light, playful slap arrives on his backside, making him jump. "Brat."
#extra points to everyone who knows the artwork this is referencing ahaha#ask memes answered#thanks for sending in! You spoke the words "Julian Thirst" and have summoned me!! I would like to request Asra 'rewarding' or 'punishing' him <3
Yoo, first non AA request!! Thank you, it's so nice to step outside of the box every once in a while!! <3
Pairing: Julian Devorak x Asra Alnazar aka Asrian
Warnings: smut, d/s dynamics, Julian getting punished and rewarded and punished again, oral sex, dirty talk with a smidge of degradation
Wordcount: 677

If you know what happens in this scene, you know.
"You're a piece of work, Ilya, you know that? I'm getting tired of your tricks." Asra rolls his eyes, yet is unable to stop a smile from forming on his full lips as he drags Julian by his bony elbow through the market in search of a secluded area.
"Ohoho, a witch tired of my tricks? Why, I never thought I'd see the day-Mmh!" Whatever snarky reply is about to cross Julian's chewed up lips is silenced when Asra pulls him down by the collar of his coat, claiming his mouth in a bruising kiss.
They're in an alleyway behind a row of stalls, hopefully hidden enough from the public eye to do what Asra has in mind. "What an insufferable thing you are, Ilya," Asra whispers, looking up at the flame-haired doctor whose eyes are already hooded at the sudden display of dominance, white teeth digging into his plump bottom lip.
"Getting so bold and handsy in front of all these people like a common whore," Asra purrs, knowing the good doctor will appreciate the description. "Did you think I'd let you paw at me like that in broad daylight with no repercussions?" The lump in Julian's slender throat bobs when he swallows, shaking his head without blinking.
"Good. Then you know you must be punished, though I'm not certain if you'll consider this much of a punishment," Asra grins, his slender fingers quickly undoing the lacing on his breeches. His cock is half hard when he pulls it out, a few droplets leaking from the head. "Get on your knees."
Julian swallows hard, head involuntarily turning towards the bustling market. "H-Here?" Hesitant as he may be, he drops to his knees with no protest when Asra nods, hungrily eyeing his lover's hardening member. His tongue subconsciously darts out to wet his lips, looking up at Asra for approval.
"Open your mouth," the magician orders, one hand lazily wrapping around his own cock, the other tangling in the doctor's auburn curls. Julian obeys, his jaw unclenching to reveal his skilled tongue. Asra's cock pushes past his lips not a moment later, the snow-haired man's narrow hips pushing into the wet cavern of his mouth without mercy.
"Lovely," Asra gasps, the softness in his voice a clear contrast to the ferocity his hips move with. "I told you I'd wash your mouth out with soap if you kept whispering those naughty things into my ear earlier, didn't I? Hopefully, this will be just as effective." He chuckles, knowing he's right from the way Julian whines with his lips wrapped around his shaft.
To Julian's credit, he is quite good with his mouth, especially when it comes to matters that don't involve speaking. It doesn't take long for heat to spread throughout Asra's lithe body, pleasure curling in every muscle. "Would you like a reward for your troubles?" He grins down at the kneeling doctor who moans lewdly in agreement, sound thankfully muffled by Asra's own body. He finishes with a whimper, biting down on his thumb to keep silent as Julian works him through his climax, swallowing every last drop of his release.
Julian pulls away and rises when Asra gently nudges his head away, dusting off the dirt gathering on his boots. They exchange a heated kiss as Asra straightens his own clothes out. "Let's go," the magician urges Julian out of the alley before they get discovered. "W-Wait," Julian whines, giving Asra the most pleading look he can muster, "What about me?" There's a clear bulge in the doctor's pants, straining against the fabric of his grey breeches.
"Ah," Asra muses, shrugging his shoulders. "That's the second part of your punishment." Julian's eyes widen, another blush creeping up his neck. "S-Second part? But, but, I-" The magician shushes him with a finger on his lips, "Hush now or there will be a third."
The redhead grumbles something under his breath and pulls his coat tightly around his body, stepping out into the market once again with Asra trailing behind, a wicked smile on his face.

Playpen
In which Asra wakes up from his restless sleep to find Astarium still with him...Or so he thinks?
Word count: 1,071
Pairing: Devil! Astarium x Asra
Warnings: A bit NSFW, Perhaps a sprinkle of angst
There's this heavy weight, latched onto Asra's shoulders. His eyes are squeezed shut as he feels the tinge of pain within his heart. He's searching, for something, anything, to make him feel himself once again. And, and--- and there's crashing waves. Asra can hear it, the noise of the ocean suddenly surrounds him, and he can feel the warmth in the air. He stirs, opening his eyes to see his new surroundings. He's on a beach, the sky is purple, and as he thought, there was waves crashing in a few feet away from him. He decides to look down, surveying the thin white sheets he's laying on. There he is, on a bed with a canopy overhead, blocking what he thinks is the sun.
And the thing that catches his attention the most, is the fact that his lover is lying on top of him.
"Asta?" he calls, staring at them in bewilderment. They rise, allowing themselves to come up on their elbows to see Asra's face. "Yes?" They smile at him, obviously intrigued. And all Asra can do is pull them in for a hug. It's accepted without hesitation, and he allows himself to get lulled into the feeling, they pull back to look into his eyes. For once, in however long he'd been searching, he felt safe.
So he let them kiss him, even when the softness of their lips were interrupted with them sliding their tongue into his mouth. And he let them guide him, hands tangled in each others hair as they drew him in further, and further, and further. Till he was practically taking off his own clothes. The love he felt seemed to be replaced with desire, craving the thing he'd longed for, for what seemed like eternity. He wanted them, he wanted to with them, he wanted to be in them, and it was something he couldn't help but need.
Besides, Julian only worked as a replacement for so long.
So he voiced his ache to them, watching that all so familiar grin appear on their face. They pulled him back in for a kiss, slipping off the sheer pants they wore before tossing them into the sand. At first, Asra pulled them under him, thinking it only right to remain on top, but they quickly pushed him back underneath, making sure they were in the perfect position to ride him.
Once they had actually gotten into the rhythm of it, Asra remain completely dazed, only moving enough to place his hands on their hips. He already felt so close, and that mischievous look in their eye only encouraged him further. He remained staring up at the in awe for a minute, not even paying attention to the moans he was letting slip out. He was far too focused on them.
Or, was there something off?
He seemed to pause, trying to think clearly as his hands wandered the rest of their body. Their hair was, long, and shaggy, and as he wrapped a strand of it around his finger he began to question what Asta had told him in the past. He couldn't help but feel it was off, like this wasn't right. And one final thing stopped him in his tracks. They shared a heart, so why did he not feel connected to them?
He moved his hand to their chest, feeling for any sign of life. But there was no beat in their heart, and it seemed as if they didn't even have to breathe. A look of horror washed over his face, watched as they continued to bounce on him, not even stopping as they looked down at him. They had changed, he could see it, he could see the sinister look in their eyes. And yet he was still so wrapped up in the feeling of being inside of them, and it's like they could tell. He couldn't escape if he wanted to.
Eventually, they let the facade fade, waiting for him to release before giving him a fright. The world remained the same, but their eyes turned crimson, and their arms seemed to fade into blackened claws. They slipped off of him, letting their hand run through the slick between their legs as their horns came into view, They were shiny and tall, and they looked sharp enough to pierce through organs. And the desire he felt was now replaced with terror, even has they pressed his mouth open so he could taste himself on their fingers. He swallowed, before pushing away from them.
"I knew you wouldn't like me like this" They huffed, let their tail flick in anger.
"You're not...You're not my Astarium, you're the Devil."
They pause, staring back at him in frustration. "I was never your anything, and you've only proved that by visiting Julian's bed every night." They practically growl at him, circling the bed as if he were an item of meat rather than their lover.
"You..You died, you died when you gave away your life to take the devil's place, Asta."
"And how long have I been dead?" They questioned, pursing their lips.
Asra remained silent, averting his eyes, realizing both of their lower halves were still bare.
"How long?" They persisted.
"Three months." He responded, suddenly realizing that the Devil's realm would make him feel any emotion they wanted him to.
"Three months! that's how long it took for you to get over my death, my sacrifice! and to turn to that pretty little red head to wet your wick." This time, it's clear their growling, and their accent only seems stronger in the state they're in.
"It wasn't like that." He urges, looking up at them in the most pathetic way possible. Which only gains him a grunt.
"Oh really?" They ask, letting their anger falter as he nods his head. "Well then, give me your mind, your body, and your soul, and I will forgive you with no hesitation, yes?"
"Asta...Devil, you know I cannot."
"Cannot and will not are two very different things, Star."
"It doesn't matter, I won't. You're not you, you're the Devil. And I don't love the devil, Astarium."
They growl, suddenly looking like they might literally be seething.
"Then get out!" They shout, pushing him backwards.
And suddenly, he's falling back in his bed in the magic shop. But surely, he is not safe from the devil's anger. Not now, nor ever.

General Headcanons with the main six
Asra: + He fully will take care of you and sometimes have to drag you away from what you’re doing to have a self-love self-care day, in which Faust is with you so you actually have to relax.
+ When he goes on long trips, sometimes he takes you but when he has to go alone he will leave the gold and emerald necklace with you, placing a protection charm on it. You and he will occasionally do the water portal spell, cuddling when he has the chance and smothering you with kisses.
+ Asra’s love language is touch and verbal affirmation, he is very open about your relationship and gives you affection every chance he gets. You never tell him to stop because you enjoy it too much, always being connected to him in one way or another.
+ You will prepare spells for the shop when you have free time or do a card reading with Faust around your neck. When Asra comes back, you run up to him and hug him with him laughing and returning the hug.
+ On cold nights you both snuggle up together under blankets and enjoy each other’s company, giving each other soft kisses. Asra will whisper sweet nothing and positive affirmations, rubbing small circles on your arm. Your head went into his neck humming a forgotten tune with blankets draped on you both and resting in your shared bed.
+ In the morning, Asra is usually a morning person and gets up prepares the shop, making some herbal tea for the both of you. If you’re still asleep, he will leave Faust with you and get some pumpkin bread for you (which is yourself); coming back and leaving the pumpkin bread on the table for you upstairs, placing a kiss on your cheek, and gave you an Eskimo kisses.
+ Asra loves giving you readings and seeing your reaction, even though you’re well experienced with it, it still fills you with joy. Enjoying how the cards speak to both you and Asra, revealing different messages each time and different lessons to learn. It will usually end up with one of you asleep beside the other, deciding to sleep curled up together (knowing that you both will probably be sore in the morning).
+ When you get sick, don’t expect to do anything because Asra will not have you being active while you aren’t feeling well and this goes for if you’re having bad period cramps as well. Making an herbal tea for you to drink while you get better, stepping out to gather more herbs if he doesn’t have what he needs. Calling Muriel to help him get herbs if he cannot find them, knowing the silent man has memorized the forest.
+ It’s raining and lightly thundering outside when you both rush into the shop, coming from a dinner with the Countess discussing how to decrease the poverty in Vesuvia, and laughing to yourselves as you both shut the door, dripping wet from the storm outside. Asra will dry Faust off, placing her down on a comfy pillow and taking off all his wet clothes and you doing the same. Setting the damp garments in a small woven bin to dry later.
+ Asra comes back with some towels and soft robes for you two to wear. Cuddling by a small fire with Faust curled around the both of you in front of a small fire lighting up the room and enjoying the warmth emanating from the both of you.
Julian:
+ If you ever get sick, Julian will not leave your side for the first couple of days, even if you assure him that it’s just a small cold. Since the incident with you and the plague, Julian doesn’t want to take chances and repeat the same incident that cost him you. Since he has a bad immune system, ironic since he is a doctor, he will hold himself back from cuddling you when you’re cold. Loudly rejoicing when you get better and he can be affectionate with you.
+ Some nights you will have to drag him back from the Rowdy Raven tipsy, which sometimes is amusing because drunk Julian is actually a soft cuddly drama queen and it might take a while for you both to get back. Mazelinka is usually called by either you or Portia every time this happens and be ready for the morning hangover he will not have because for some reason Julian never gets hangovers. You still don’t understand it yourself.
Muriel: + On rainy days you cuddle up with Muriel in front of the fire and with Inanna’s head resting on your lap. The rain hitting against the roof and the light of the fire softly highlighting both of your faces.
+ Muriel will sometimes arrive home from hunting or errands when he leaves you with Inanna and see you asleep on the rug or with blankets and her snuggled up to you, protectively placing a paw on you. Muriel finds it absolutely adorable and tries to be as quiet as possible to not wake you up.
+ Most days you both will get up just before the sun rises and walk to a nearby cliff that overlooks Vesuvia with the sun climbing right behind it. The view is stunning and it’s a spot that you and Muriel have kept secret for special moments with one another. Leaning against Muriel, you give soft kisses and rub circles on his arm, humming softly as you watch the moon set on the opposite side of the horizon. Feeling the morning dew wet your legs and feet as you both walk back to the hut to start your day.
Portia:
+ You and Portia definitely play hide and seek in the castle using the secret passageways that she’d showed you. Occasionally running into Nadia who doesn’t mind at all finding it funny and sweet. Nadia even jumps in with you guys sometimes and the three of you playing for hours until one of you has to stop.
+ When you go over to Portia’s house to sleep over or hang out, Pepi is always the first to greet you and jumps on your shoulders, purring as she nuzzles your neck and face. Meowing loudly to alert Portia that you’re here and sometimes causing crashes to be heard as Portia comes running out, looking frazzled but happy that you’re here.
+ After a long day, you sit with Portia on a window seat in her house and brush her hair as she hums softly, caressing Pepi as you all were bathed in the golden hour light. Trying your best to get the tangled out of your lover’s hair and not hurt her, successfully brushing through her orange curly lucks and tucking pieces behind her ear.
Nadia:
+ Nadia is someone which you might not spend a lot of time with but when you do it’s a time that you treasure and you both make sure it’s spent well. Oftentimes going down into Vesuvia’s streets to window shop and say hello to Nadia’s citizens, always stopping by to say hello to Asra and Muriel if you can. Enjoying the fresh air and warm sunlight as you walked through the streets, scents of different baked goods and herbs catching your noses.
+ It’s night and you wake up to hear a soft knocking on your door and assume it’s Portia or Nadia since both have offered to take walks with you at night because of insomnia or nightmares. You open your door to see Nadia with rose-tinted cheeks and gracefully smiling at you as she brushes some imaginary dirt off her nightgown. She asks you if you want to sleep with her in her room because she feels that it gets lonely and doesn’t want to wake you up every time she has a nightmare.
+ So there both of you are, snuggled under the covers with each other, legs tangled and Nadia caressing your cheek, rubbing your head as you sleep soundly. Comforted that you are with her and her nightmares are wrong, drifting off the sleep to the sound of your soft breathing.
+ Be ready because you will have to stop Nadia sometimes or a lot of the time if you don’t want to be spoiled or given many gifts from her and even though she knows that you deeply appreciate her gifts but aren’t fond of how often she does it, still wants to show you how much she loves you. Oftentimes coming back from a business trip with something new for you, brightly asking Portia where you are and Portia lying that she doesn’t know with full knowledge that you are trying to avoid being spoiled by Nadia when she came back.
+ You do really appreciate all of her gifts but at times you feel unworthy of Nadia’s affection and all her presents, which you bring up to her, and Nadia responding that you deserve every bit and this is how she shows her love. After that making sure that you know you are worthy of her affection and gifts, but also respecting your feelings and asking you if she can spoil you (sometimes she fully spoils you without telling because you can’t stop Nadia from showing you how much you’re loved).
+ If it’s not clear Nadia’s love language is gift-giving and sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming at times but you love her and happily indulge in her escapades. Finding yourself in soft luxurious clothing and wrapped inexpensive fabrics, Nadia admiring you with adoration. You do tell her that she can spoil you by helping those in poverty and giving them shelter and food, which she obviously is doing but increases per your request.
+ Nadia’s owl, Chandra, is often near you while you work making sure you’re safe and showing you small bits of affection while she is away or not able to be with you. You both have gotten into the habit of using Chandra almost as a messenger and sending each other letters when Nadia is away from you for a couple of days or is on a trip somewhere nearby. Letters going back and forth telling each other about your days and how work was going, explicitly saying how much you missed each other.

Say Anything
Characters: Asra x gender neutral reader
Contains: Asra uses he/they pronouns, mentions of anxiety, mentions of death, hurt/comfort, mentions of a breakdown, mentions of identity crisis, mentions of insecurity, Y/N reader, second person POV
Word Count: 2K+
Asra called out a farewell as the door of the shop closed, leaving you alone. Asra had to go run some errands and promised that he would only be gone for a few hours at most. They also promised to bring back some of the pumpkin bread he knew you loved so much. Of course, you couldn’t argue with that, so you told him goodbye, making sure to give them a small kiss before he walked out. As soon as the door closed, the smile on your face dropped and you let out a sigh that you didn’t realize you were holding. You knew your partner had things to do but you wish he could have stayed in today, to stay with you. Although you know if you simply told them you needed them to stay in, he would drop everything and be there for you, but you already felt like such a burden, your anxiety not helping at all.
Ever since the incident with the devil, you’ve been trying to adapt and reestablish a life for yourself. Although you still didn’t have all the memories from during the plague, you knew enough. You knew you weren’t the same person that Asra or Julian or even Muriel knew. You were different and everyone didn’t seem to care, everyone was just happy to have you back, but you still felt out of place and as if you weren't good enough. You felt like you would never hold Asra’s heart the same way the old you did. Sure, he told you how much he loved you and how much you meant to them but you slowly started to think that maybe he was just saying that. Maybe he was hoping the old you would eventually come back, but the old you was dead. The old you was only ashes in the Lazaret, simply a person of the past.
You felt yourself slowly beginning to get lost in your thoughts and you knew that if you continued to keep thinking over everything you would break down. And the last thing you wanted was for Asra to come back and find you sobbing, so you decided to take a walk. You grabbed one of Asra’s extra scarves and put it on along with a pair of worn out boots you had. You walked out the door and made sure the shop was locked before walking with no destination in mind, just wanted to try and clear your mind. You found yourself heading in the direction of the forest, your thoughts still running. Your mind was running from your own identity and purpose to what Asra’s true feelings and thoughts about you were along with just wondering if you were worth Asra losing half his heart for. Tears began to well up in your eyes and you knew you couldn’t hold it back anymore. You stopped and collapsed on the forest ground and started sobbing. You started to pull the scarf close to you, wishing it was Asra here with you before you took it off and tossed it aside. Your thoughts were against you, with the main one being that Asra doesn’t want you, that he is only taking pity on you.
You continued to sob and cry, even screaming out in anger and frustration as all these emotions hit you. You just had so much on your mind and were consumed with so many different emotions. You just sat on the forest floor for what felt like a few minutes, but time had clearly passed as the sun was beginning to set. You knew you should probably head back to the shop before it got too late, so you wiped away your tears as well as picking up the scarf. You were tempted to put it back on but just couldn’t. You started to make your way out of the forest, with what little light you had. In no time you made it back into town, hearing the ruckus of the townsfolk enjoying their evening. On most other nights you would laugh and join in, probably finding Julian hanging out amongst them causing trouble, but tonight you just weren’t in the mood. So you took some back alleyways to the shop, getting more anxious as you got closer. You arrived at the shop and just stared at the door, you felt yourself reach for the handle, but couldn’t get yourself to open it. You knew Asra was home as the lights were on inside, which only made you more anxious to go inside. You decided to just rip off the band aid and go inside, so with that you started to turn the door handle, only for it to swing open, Asra standing right in front of you.
“Oh Y/N,” he spoke, his voice soft and quiet. They went to reach out for you, to pull you into a hug, but you simply backed away. You saw him freeze before stepping aside and letting you in. You walked in and sat down at the table, not sure what to say. The room was filled with silence for what felt like forever, before Asra spoke up again. “Where did you go? I came back before lunch and saw you gone, I figured you just went to the market for yourself but as it got later into the evening, I got worried.”
You looked down at your hands, realizing they are covered in dirt, but now was not the time to wash them, this conversation needed to happen, even if you wish it could be avoided. You cleared your throat and felt the tears begin to form back in your eyes.
“I went for a walk, just went into the forest is all. I needed some air and some time to think and just lost track of time, don’t worry about me.” You spoke out, your voice trembling as you glanced up and tried to smile at your partner. God, it was going to hurt, you loved him so much but you didn’t want them to feel trapped or that they have to be with you.
You watched Asra move closer to you, placing his hand softly on your cheek, wiping away the tears that had escaped. “Oh darling, what’s got you upset and hurting?”
You felt a sob rising up in your throat as he called you that. You tried to fight it back, you had to for the moment. You needed to get it all out there, to just rip the band aid off. “I’m not the same Y/N you knew before the plague, and I know you loved the old me, but I’ve changed. I’m not the same as I once was and I never will be. I’ll never be the same person you knew and loved before. You don’t have to force yourself to stay with me and you don’t have to pretend you love me.”
You pulled yourself away from him, more tears rolling down your cheeks. You looked at him, knowing this may be your last moment seeing him, even if he looked sad and as if his heart broke.
“I love you Asra, I always will, but I don’t want you to feel as if you have to be with me. I’m sorry if you feel like you have to be with me, to feel pressured to love me all because you gave up half of your heart to bring me back. I’m sorry the old Y/N is gone, I’m sorry for everything. Just give me the word, and I’ll leave. I’m sure Nadia or Portia won’t mind giving me a place to stay so you aren’t stuck with me all the time, and I can just come in when you need help around the shop or I can go and do my own thing, if it hurts you too much to see me and be faced with the constant reminder that I’m not the one you truly love.” You finish your speech, getting all your thoughts out. You looked at your hands, afraid to look at them, you feared what their next words would be. Tears dripped onto your hands and your vision was becoming blurry. The silence seemed to go on for a lifetime and you just wish he would get it over with, that he would break your heart so you weren’t sitting here on the verge of a panic attack.
“Y/N, I love you. I loved the old you, the one from before the plague, but I love the you I brought back. I would bring you back over and over again, cause you are my other half, in more ways than one. Sure, you aren’t the same person I knew and loved from before, but I still love and care for you. You seem so much happier than I ever remember before. You seem so much more confident than you ever have before.” Asra pauses and lifts your head up. You try to avert your eyes elsewhere, but ultimately you are face to face with him. You see his eyes are red and puffy, tears rolling down his cheeks. He takes one hand and cups your cheek and you can’t help but lean into it. He places a small kiss on your forehead before resting his forehead against yours.
“I love you so much Y/N. You are the love of my life, the one I want to be with till the end of time. The thought of losing you again pains me so much. Please, I want you to stay with me, here in the shop, if that’s what you want. If you want to go or if you no longer want to continue what we have, I’ll let you go. I never want you to feel like I’m holding you back, I just want you to be happy, even if that isn’t with me.” Asra chokes up and begins to cry as the words spill out of his mouth.
You feel the sob you’ve been holding back since you’ve got home rise up again, but this time you can’t hold it back. You gently pull away only to suddenly hug your lover. You bury your face in his chest holding onto him tightly, as you sob. Both of you cry in each other's arms, neither of you saying another word. Asra seems to calm down before you, as he begins to rub your back and whispers words of comfort. When you finally begin to calm down you start to pull away, just to be able to look at them.
“I love you, I don’t want to leave you. I want to stay here with you and run the shop and learn magic with you. I want to travel to the ends of the earth and see everything that is out there for us to see. I want to wake up beside you every morning and fall asleep in your arms every night. I just want you, if you’ll have me as the mess I am.” You say as you fidget with your hands, you can feel the dirt on them and it’s starting to bother you. Asra takes one of your hands into theirs and holds it tightly. He offers a small and soft smile to you, leaning in to kiss you softly.
“My love, I will always want you, mess and all.” Those words hit you hard, and before you can process what you are doing, you are pressing your lips against his. Asra of course, kisses you back, for he is never one to complain about any sort of affection you give. Asra swiftly pulls you into their arms and holds you close. You can feel both of your hearts beating as one and in that moment you begin to wonder why you ever thought they didn’t love you in the first place.
“Asra, as much as I would love to stay like this with you for the night, I really need a bath.” You mumble out and you hear them chuckle. Asra stands up, holding on to you as they carry you off to the bath. You hold on to them gently, giving them little kisses on the cheek. In no time the bath is filled and you are stepping into the warm bubbly water. You glance at Asra and give a playful smirk, “Care to join me?” Asra smirks back and begins to strip before joining you.

Something Lost, Something Gained (Part 3, NSFW, 18+ in the red)

"What happened?"
I turned to Past Me. She moved her arm in a wheel again, disrupting my vision. We were in Vasuvia, if it was called that then. The memories flashed quickly but there was a pattern. Always living in the shop, finding lovers, pretending to age, living life, taking long trips, returning to my shop claiming to be the descendant and claiming the property. Over and over. Keeping up appearances, visions of travels. Passionate love, painful heartbreak, death, moving on, but always returning to my shop in Vesuvia. There were children, too. I didn't see visions or memories of pregnancy. Perhaps adopted? It went on and on, and the city itself changed, too. Chaotic downfalls and dramatic rises. I was drawn to the magic of this place. Apparently, this was my home away from home. Memories showed occasional visits to the land I originated from. Memories in the cave that Asra had taken me to. I thought it was my first time there, but that isn't the case. Passionate romance ensued, rituals carried out, a lot of meditation sessions. The cave resembled the one in my own land. Also a secret room in the shop appeared several times, underground. A staircase hidden behind a rock wall of the shop. Decades flashed before our eyes in mere seconds, centuries in minutes. I couldn't help but contemplate the number of lives I'd touched, loved, and missed.
We briefly stopped on one memory in a little town. I was there to visit the salt flats. A terrible storm rolled in and delayed my departure. My memories had shown several terrible storms, this one contended in the top ten. People around my memory self thought it was the end. The gale force winds were certain to destroy buildings. Once the storm had blown over, as quickly as it had come, everybody came out to inspect buildings and check on each other. Thankfully nobody was killed. They were joyful till they saw pieces of a wrecked ship. One older woman in particular was worried, apparently her girlfriend was due to come in. A few hours past when a ship came into view. Lilinka, was that her name? Was relieved at the sight of the ship. As soon as the ship was docked and the gang plank down the two women ran to each other, hugging and kissing, obviously shaken by the storm that could have killed the other. Two red headed children came down the gang plank. One taller and gangly, the other so much younger. They looked pretty wretched. My past Memory self couldn't help be pushed in by the swarm of adults and children alike, surrounding the two kids and the two women. "I found them on some wreckage. They lost their family in that damned storm," announced the woman who had come from the ship.
"Oh we'll keep them till their family comes to claim them," Lilinka said without doubt, the entire town murmuring in agreement.
"What if we don't have any family left?" Asked the young boy in concern, holding on to, presumably, his little sister for dear life.
"Well then welcome to the family. This is Nevinon, we look out for each other here," announced Lilinka. "Now let's get you two out of those sopping wet clothes and something warm to eat, yes?"
She and the other woman hearded the two children into a building. Glad that something good came of the tragedy, my memory past self made my way home.
Once again the years flew past and slowed down to about over a decade before the present.
My memory past self had claimed ownership of my shop after my "aunt" died. I had been living this new life for a bit when a familiar fluffy white haired stranger with the most beautiful purple eyes began to appear in my life. My memories played out and stilled to this memory.
My memory past self was at the very familiar bakery. I was on my own, asking for a loaf of pumpkin bread.
The fluffy white haired, purple eyed stanger sat next to me and also requested a loaf.
"Are you going to introduce yourself? I've noticed you following me around for nearly half a year now." She said to them.
"That's why I'm here. My name is Asra."
Salsi brought the loaves over, still warm. I paid him with a coin and I asked for some tea.
"Sure thing!" He winked, and Asra paid by healing the cuts, scratches and bruises on Salsi's hands.
My past self glanced at Asra, surprised.
"You practice magic as well?" My past memory self asked.
"Well..." Asra blushed. "Not nearly as well as you."
"Oh?"
"Do you remember the night of the last masquerade?" Asra asked my memory self.
How could I forget? A stranger swept me off my feet and disappeared.
"I do, it was quite eventful. Why do you ask?"
"Do you remember meeting a stranger, dancing and laughing, feeding each other?"
"You wouldn't happen to know who it was?" My past memory self asked suspiciously, with a coy look in her eyes.
Asra began to blush. "Well, that was me."
A socially awkward silance as Selsi poured us each a cup of tea. My past self seemed to be enjoying this.
"Now why did you sweep me off my feet at the masquerade and disappear like that?" My memory past self asked before taking a sip of the tea.
Asra looked down to avoid my eyes. A very familiar snake popped out of his bag.
"Oh well hello!" My past self leaned in to take a closer look at the snake.
"Her name is Faust," said Asra, brightening up a bit. "You can pet her, she's friendly. She particularly likes chin scratches." He took her full body out of his bag and onto the counter.
"Very nice to meet you Faust!" My memory self said, gently scratching her chin. She looked very friendly.
"That reminds me, I need to head home and feed Bast. We can continue our conversation there, oh mysterious handsome stranger," my past self said rising from her chair.
"Gladly lovely lady. You didn't tell me your name?" Asra collected Faust and put her back into his bag.
I could sense my past self stiffen. Which name shall I use?
"You'll learn that in due time," she said coolly, taking Asra by the hands, apparently reaally in a hurry to get home. They waved Selsi goodbye.
The walk home to the shop was awkwardly quiet. Asra must have been thinking wildly.
"Is Bast your pet?" Asra finally broke the silence.
"Do NOT let her hear you refer to her as a pet," my past self laughed. "No, she is my familiar. As I imagine Faust is to you?"
Upon hearing her voice, she popped her head out from amongst his garnments.
Asra was visibly relieved but still a bit tense.
"Yes, I've had her since she was an egg. A very special present."
"I found Bast in a dump," my memory self snorted with a chuckle, putting Asra further at ease.
"Really?" This was the first time Asra had smiled, at least since the masquerade.
"Yeah," my memory self scratched at the back of my neck.
We were finally at the shop. I made tea and invited Asra to the back room, making sure to keep the sign on the store door "closed." And the light out.
"Now, you never answered why you disappeared on me after the masquerade, I was quite heartbroken," my past memory self flirted with him.
Asra looked down again, fingers fidgeting. Perhaps thinking of an answer. Perhaps that's when my past self noticed the dirt and worn out clothes.
"I don't have that great of a living situation at the moment," Asra finally confessed. "I live with a friend who doesn't do well with people. At all."
My memory self nodded, wondering who this friend was.
"Also," Asra interrupted my, her thoughts, "your magic is far superior to mine. Though I do have a few tricks up my sleeve."
"Well, how about this," my memory past self, so confident and sure of herself. "You can live here in exchange for helping at the shop, and we can exchange 'tricks' what do you say?"
Asra looked stunned, possibly speechless.
"That way you can't get away from me," my past self winked with a coy note in her, my voice.
"Yes, sure, i-if that's okay with you?" Asra answered hesitantly.
My memory self laughed. Bast finally came down the stairs and made her appearance. She wasn't in her largest shape-shifting size, but not her smallest, either. She sniffed through Asra's stuff, apparently stealthily enough not to draw attention.
"By the way, that is Bast," I, my memory self, pointed. Asra nearly jumped out of their skin. Bast raised her head with Faust all coiled up on her head. Asra had to take a few calming breathes before answering, eyes glued to the very large house cat whose head was large enough for a snake to comfortably sit on.
"H-hello," Asra finally got out, visibly calming down but still very on edge.
Bast looked at my memory self.
"Food?" Bast pawed at my leg.
"Yes yes here you go," my memory self tore a piece of the pumpkin bread and fed it to the giant cat.
"You... you feed her bread?" Asra asked.
"Not usually, as a treat. She seems to like pumpkin. I can't keep any pumpkins inside the shop. Autumn is a real challenge when everyone has their pumpkins out." She, I, answered causually.
Asra started to laugh.
Thus was the beginning.
Memories began to speed up again, like leaves falling from a tree in autumn. I felt as though I could reach out and grab one. My arm unconsciously reached out, but my double at my side grabbed my arm, brought it down, and once again put her finger to her lips.
"These are critical memories, so that you know what really happened," said myself in the black cloak. Our gaze returned to the scenes playing before us.
It must be 5 to 10 years. Asra and my memory past self were living comfortably. I had met the mystery friend who lived on his own now in the forest. I didn't blame him. I had seen the tournaments myself.
It was an average day, Bast had gone out hunting for herself to eat like she had done a thousand times before. My past memory self was heading back from foraging in the forst to stock the store. I, she, was minding the cobblestone streets when she, I, bent over in pain. Even though it was a memory, I could feel the pain. Visions of my people in a firey battle, cousins, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, aunts and uncles fighting and dying in an apocalyptic battle. I, my memory self, my past self at my side, and I my present self felt the flaring pain of all my people being wiped out. Flashes of a familiar humanoid goat grinning amongst the visions of my people falling. Images of my brothers in particular rang in my memory. I, my present self, was finally able to breathe after my memory self collapsed in the street. People gathered around as I blacked out. I clung to my double at my side.
"What the hell!?" I whispered in a pained breath.
"Our people, family and kin, were all killed in a tragic battle. All of them. We are the only one left." My past self huffed with her hands on her knees, trying to stand whilst supporting my weight.
"And we felt that?" I question. She nodded. As we recovered, the next memory played out.
My memory past self woke up in a bed not ours. Not even familiar. All senses on alert, she quietly got out of the bed and realized she wasn't even in her own clothing! Just some odd blank white sheet gown. What the fuck was this!? Her eyes looked around, collecting information like she had done so many times on a battlefield. As if in a theatrical performance and on cue, the door opened and a very tall man with gorgeous, unruly red hair walked in, attention entirely devoted to whatever he was reading in his hand. He closed the door with his hip, and strode across the room. It was a bizarre moment, he must not have noticed that she was up and standing out of bed. He was entirely fixated on his reading as he managed to put food into a bowl and place it on the ground for a dog to chow down. She watched in bizarre amazement as this very tall, lanky and *very* attractive man finished his chore without having to move his eyes from whatever it was he was reading. He didn't even notice she was out of bed until he was right in front of her and reaching for an arm to check for a pulse. When he didn't find an arm immediately, he looked at the bed with worry and shock written into the lines on his face and bolted up when he finally realized he wasn't standing even a foot from her. In which he tripped over his own two feet and fell backwards.
He definitely hit his head and was swearing in a language not unfamiliar to me. Her. My memory past self.
She spoke the equivalent of "excuse me?" In the tongue he was swearing in. Another comical facial expression of shock as he looked up, mouth open but nothing came out.
Finally remembering himself, he scrambled up.
"You're awake!" He exclaimed. The amount of shock in that statement worried her.
"Where am I? Who are you? Why am I in this... this garment?" My memory past self readied herself for a fight.
"This is my clinic, you were brought here by some people after you passed out in the streets. Please, please calm down my name is Julian. Julian Devorak. Please sit back down and let me check you over," he said with his hands up in a surrender or "i mean no harm" kind of way.
It was a very tense few moments while she contemplated what her next move would be.
She eyed him carefully. He was in a doctor's uniform, though aren't those uniforms usually white?
She relaxed herself and sat down, eyes almost glaring.
"Dr. Devorak?" She said questioning his credentials.
"Yes, as for your other question. You had to be changed, your clothes had been soiled by the ground and you were out for three days. I couldn't figure out why you wouldn't wake up-"
"Three days?" She relaxed a bit more, realizing the last thing she remembered was being on the ground in agonizing pain. It made sense.
"I apologize that there was no one here with you when you woke up," he spoke as he checked for pulse, heart beat, etc. "You're in the back room with Brundle since the front is often busy," he visually looked over for bruises or cuts, checking her head for any sensitive spots. "I-I was reading up on comas and people not waking up, even though your pulse seemed regular and normal and you were breathing. You had no fever," he pulled off one of his gloves and held the back of his hand to her forehead. "and... well here you are. Awake and aware. Everything seems fine, but it bothers me that I can't figure out why you collapsed in the first place, or why only now you're waking up." He sat down on the bed next to her, his eyes gazing at nothing. She could see the gears in his head running overtime.
"I'm so sorry where are my manners. You must be starved after not eating for three days and, and I'll go fetch your clothes and things. I had your clothing laundered, I'll fetch them," he raced out of the room. When the door was closed she flopped on the bed. She heard the dog slowly come over to her. She rolled over and gave the dog some good pets, her own mind racing. She couldn't think for long, she was feeling weak, in more ways than one. Food sounded good so she didn't resist.
When he returned with her clothes and bag a thought occured to her.
"There wasn't any funny business while I was out, right?"
"I had to check to make sure you didn't pass out from menstruating-" he started explaining.
"You WHAT?"
"Just a check, and I'm a legitimate doctor! It was nothing to worry about and my assistant can verify I didn't do anything... inappropriate. If she hadn't quit on me," he suddenly looked exhausted. "I'll look her up if you want to verify-"
I didn't need to. Er, she, I, didn't need to. I sensed he was telling the truth.
"Well, you promised me a meal. Let me get dressed." She shooed him out. She rested for a second with her back to the door, listening for the sound of him walking away.
When she was satisfied that he had walked a good enough distance, she busied herself with getting dressed, making a mental note to ask who his launder was. Everything was so clean. Was that lavender?
Even though we were watching a memory, I could smell the fresh linen mixed with lavender fragrance.
As I, she, stepped out, she noticed he was at his desk in the corner writing something down. She could see his handwriting from the door and shuddered at how he could possibly read it, let alone some poor assistant. She gave the door a soft kick to get his attention. He bolted up.
"Ah, yes. I was thinking of this quaint little spot, it's got this lovely tea that has a smokey flavor that I've been craving for a bit. Not to mention I don't want to expose you to too much, seeing as you've just woken up."
In rather graceful moves he got his coat on and opened the front door of his clinic, bowing, "After you."
It was late morning, judging by the sun's position in the sky. They made their way to the promised tea room. It was a bit underground. Even from a distant memory I, my present self, could taste the first bite of some sweet bread and chowed down through slices of warm bread, sandwiches and soup.
"If you like soup that much I ought to get you some recipes from Maz," Julian spoke before taking a sip of the tea he had been craving. "Oh hell just come over to my place I'll make it myself. She's on ah... a trip."
"Careful, I may take you up on that offer," she remarked.
"Please do," he said sincerely, but with a hint of playfulness to his voice. He chuckled into his tea.
He moved onto straight black coffee and I tried some of that tea. It was nice and probably rare, but it wasn't to my liking.
"I was thinking-"
"There's trouble," he smirked. That smile. Omg that smile.
"Seriously," I, she tried to make herself sound serious. "You took good care of me while I was out. If you're short an assitant I'd be happy to help you out at the clinic. And try some of those soups you mentioned."
"I'll do you one better," he leaned in, putting his mug down. "I'll take you on as an apprentice if I can get a discount for some of the ingredients in your shop."
She deadpan stopped.
"You are the shop owner on the corner, right? That's what the people said when the brought you in," Julian started.
"OH MY GOD MY SHOP!" She quickly gathered her things.
"Yes, I am, I have to hurry and check on it, we'll discuss just how much this "discount" you want in exchange. Swing by after you're done for the day. Thank you for the meal I really enjoyed it." She paused, and turned to look at him again.
"And the company," she said with her own smirk.
Julian smiled.
"I'll see you later then," he raised his mug and finished off his coffee, but she was gone before he could get up.
She sprinted down streets and alleyways, and finally crashed into the door of the shop. She was rustling in her bag for her keys when the door swung open.
"THERE YOU ARE!" Asra yanked me in and locked the door shut.
"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!? I was so worried," Asra pulled me in for a bear hug, nearly crying.
"In a nutshell, I collapsed a few days ago and have been in a doctor's clinic. I'm fine."
I could feel the pressure of that hug in the present. Instinctively my arms raised to hug back, but I looked over at my past double in the black robe. I brought my arms back to my sides. In sync, we both looked back to watch the memory.
"Where's Bast? Why didn't she find me?"
"I thought she was with you? She hasn't returned either."
Faust popped her little head out, showing concern.
"Maybe she's with Muriel," Asra suggested. In my heart if hearts, I knew she wouldn't have stayed with Muriel and his wolf familiar. Especially if I had been in trouble. My mouth felt dry, in the memory and now.
"Asra, Asra listen. When I collapsed, I had visions. Unpleasant ones, I still feel weak. I think my connection to my magic might be severed," she looked in Asra's eyes.
"You do feel weaker. But I don't think it's completely severed. Here, try something simple like summoning light," Asra suggested, even more concerned than myself.
I did the spell and it worked, I tried others and it was evident that my power had become weaker.
"Let's see what the cards say," Asra headed to the back room, still holding onto my hand for dear life.
Asraa shuffled the cards, and I picked out one and flipped it over.
"The Devil?" I asked allowed.
Even though past memory me was confused, things were starting to make sense. My other self in the black robe nodded.
"You are starting to realize," she waved her arm in the motion of a wheel in front of me, obstructing my vision. Memories hastened. Asra and I checked with Muriel, he hadn't seen her but would look for her. Inanna didn't look optimistic, and began sniffing the grounds immediately. The doctor swung by the store, luckily while Asra was away, and we set a 30% discount on the herbs and oils in my inventory in exchange for apprenticeship. The work at the clinic helped keep my mind off my troubles. Temporarily. Otherwise if I wasn't at the clinic, I was at the shop. If I weren't at either one, I'd be in the woods searching for my familiar. My heart ached for her and my ability to practice magic was crippled. Asra was patient and helped me practice and relearn. Asra knew I needed to keep busy, and didn't question my apprenticeship with the doctor. Of course both romances ensued. I was lost, my people had been wiped out and my familiar was gone. Muriel reported that the didn't find anything in the forest. Even if she had died they would have found something.
Again memories fluttered past. One, which I think is a particular favorite, I made slow in front of us. It was during one of Asra's trips to find answers where I was left on my own. It was a long day at the clinic, people were starting to get ill. Julian and I had gone out for drinks and as he was escorting me back to my shop, a thunderstorm rolled in and began to rain. Julian clinic was closer so we rain in the rain laughing and full of life. We took refuge in a favored city garden with flowers that glowed. Starstrand. Deadly starstrand. Julian pulled me in close to himself. We were both soaked, and breathing heavy from our run. His mouth was so close and his lips looked soft. He kissed me, I kissed him back. We both had the same desire in our eyes and decided to head for his place. More than once we stopped along the way and made out in the pouring rain, grabbing at each other. We finally reached his clinic, which similarly to my shop his living space was above his work space. He pushed me up against the door, his mouth seeking mine and vice versa. The smell of him and fresh rain made for a heady sensation. When I was finally shivering from the cold and wet clothes Julian carried me inside and up into his place. We hurriedly stripped each other of our soaked clothing, heated open mouth kisses. Oh that first time with him, he was damn ready to please repeatedly that night. It had been so long. We were still at each other like rabbits when rays of the early dawn filtered through the windows.
"Oh, Julian, our businesses. We should- OOoh," I moaned into his shoulder as he slipped into me again.
"We're closed today," he practically growled.
Finally, exhausted, we fell asleep intertwined.
We were rudely and suddenly woken up by someone banging on Julian's clinic door.
"Doctor, I really need to see you!"
Julian, disgruntled and possibly regretting choosing his career, threw open the window.
"I'll be down in a half hour," he shouted to the person pounding on the door. He shut the window but looked troubled.
"What is it?" I asked him. My past memory self didn't know, but dread creeped into my chest.
"I-it's nothing. I guess I should have opened regular hours today. Let me get washed up and you can wash up while I take care of my patient," he kissed me on the forehead and then the nose.
I looked down at the floor at our still wet clothes we had viciously ripped off each other the night before.
"Uh, what about our clothes?"
"I've got spares I can change into. I think there might be a nurse's clothes packed away. I'll find it once I'm done washing up," he gave me one more squeeze and headed to the back of the living space.
Julian got cleaned up and had set up clean warm water for me. He left the nurse garments for me.
I came down after I had properly cleaned and changed. Julian spotted me and rushed towards me.
"I want you to go home, quickly. And stay there. This doesn't look good," he looked over his shoulder at his patient. He had drawn the curtains around him. "Please, go home and stay home. I'll send a message when I can," he pushed me towards the door. I turned on my heal, face landing into his chest.
"I'm your apprentice, remember? It can't be that bad..." I began to protest but Julian cut me off.
"Yes, it can. Please, go. Get some rest and eat well, and we'll see about you continuing later," he pushed me outside and right into some more people who looked terribly ill.
He pushed me right through the gathering crowd. "Go!" He sounded absolutely urgent and allowed the ill people in.
I felt hurt. I made my way back to my shop. I was exhausted and I still felt weak from when I collapsed weeks ago. I couldn't help but notice the streets we not as loud as they usually were.
I closed the door to my shop and slumped to the floor. I guessed something might be going around and I should probably take stock, people will be asking for herbs and tinctures and other home rememdies.
I made my way up the stairs into the living quarters to find Asra sitting on the edge of our bed. By the look on their face, the answers he found weren't good. He noticed the clothes I was wearing.
"We should leave Vesuvia," Asra said bluntly.
"What?"
"There are warning signs, something very, very bad is going to happen," Asra had risen from their spot on the bed and held my hands. "We need to leave."
My double at my side waved the memories on to speed up.
The next memories were difficult and painful. The Red Plague had broken out. Julian and I were issued plague masks to wear while treating people in our clinic. Asra still pestered me to leave Vesuvia while we had the chance.
The Palace summoned doctors from all over when the Count came down with the plague himself, including Julian. He tried to keep his clinic open whilst working in the palace. We saw countless gut wrenching deaths in his clinic. It didn't help Julian when Brundle passed. We had to make a decision: should we close down the clinic, advise people to go and die in their homes, and work full time at the palace? Or stretch ourselves thin to the point of breaking. Julian and I couldn't bring ourselves to abandon the people of Vesuvia, so we chose the latter.
But the casualties escalated. Businesses closed down, everyone quarantined. Healthy people fled. That's what Asra wanted to do.
"We've got to go!" Asra had never raised their voice with me but I could tell he was getting desperate.
"I've got to stay and help. These people need our help! We can't abandon them!"
"We can't save them! It's time to save ourselves. They're going to close the boarders tonight!"
"That's ridiculous! Julian - Dr. Devorak says the source are the beetles..."
"It doesn't matter!" Asra slammed their fist into the table. "There's a place far from here that I have, we can go there and ride this out..."
"I won't abandon the city-"
"THE CITY IS DYING! THE COUNT HIMSELF IS DYING!" Asra was screaming.
"What about Muriel? What if he gets sick?"
"He's far from the city. He and Inanna will be fine!"
"Is there no one in this city you care about?" My eyes looked into Asra's, searching.
"You," Asra started to tear up.
Emotions boiled up. Even in the present I could feel the lump in my throat.
"I've got to stay," I managed to get out in a whisper, tears rolling down my face.
Asra stood up and kissed me, he kissed at my eyes.
"I've got to go," Asra's voice matched my own hoarseness and emotion. He grabbed his bag, tossed his scarf around his neck and his hat with that odd feather.
"I'll come back once you've changed your mind," Asra kissed me good bye. And then they were gone. I slumped down on the floor, crying. I'd felt heart break in my long lifespan but it never hurts any less. I managed to lock the doors, climb up the stairs and into bed.
The very next day I woke up feeling pretty terrible. I assumed it was just from crying most of the night. I washed up and dressed to work down at the clinic. The door was locked, thankfully Julian had given me a spare key for when he overslept. People were already gathered outside.
"Give me five minutes," I bolted the door behind me. It was oddly quiet. I went up to Julian's living space. I found a note on the bed.
"'My Love,
I've been summoned to work full time at the palace. We'll keep in touch. Don't open the clinic anymore, just make house calls. There is no cure yet, that is what we are working on here. Just make them as comfortable as possible, and write down whatever information you think relevant.
I do think it goes without saying I love you. Be strong, we'll see each other through this. I know we will.
Yours,
Julian ♡"
I slumped to the ground beside the bed. When would I see him again? Rubbing my eyes, I wasn't ready to face today. I had no choice.
I made my way downstairs, wrote a sign that the clinic was closed and to wait for house calls.
I put my plague mask on and came outside to face the people whose eyes had started to turn red.
"Please stand here, I'll be collecting names and addresses. The clinic is closed and I will be making house visits."
I nailed the sign to the door and locked and bolted it. I took names and addresses and the crowd dispersed.
The memories started to flutter again, I already knew what became of me. My past self and I decided those memories did not need to be addressed. They fluttered past, even though we passed through them quickly I could feel the loneliness, the pain from the disease. And then the flames of the furnace.
We were once again surrounded by the white fluff. I felt so many emotions at once.
"We were weakened intentionally so we would be susceptible to the plague," my past self finally spoke. "We were severed from our people, and our familiar. It was intentional."
I looked at her. I knew it was true. And I knew who the culprit was.
"So he has Bast?" I said aloud, more of a statement than a question. She nodded solemnly.
"I had to walk this path of memories with you before we merged. Our old age has lots of memories and it could have killed you, us if I hadn't taken this time to show you."
I nodded, understanding.
"What will happen when we merge?"
"We will be whole again," she said simply.
"We can tap into the energy that surrounds us. We are still a great and power magician. We can take it further and tap into our memories, the years spent practicing all sorts of magic. We have one more advantage," she said, with hope in her voice.
"And what is that?"
"We can tap into the spirits of our deceased people. They have always been with us, I think you must have forgotten that when we lost our familiar. Our ancestors will give us enough strength," she held my hands.
"Enough strength to do what?" I asked.
"To become what we once were. Powerful Witch and Warrior. We will get our familiar back and win this battle," she said with certainty.
"As we speak our body is changing, the muscle memory will return. The strength we once had will return. And our people's spirits will be with us."
"Will I remember?"
"Yes. It is time to merge. You know what we knew and what we must do,"
She looked me in the eyes. My face, my hair, my eyes.
"The past and choices have led us here. To this moment. It is time to take the present into our own hands and make the best of it. Our destiny awaits," she released my hands and opened her arms to embrace.
I hugged her back. Myself. She is me and I am her.
The white cleared, I gasped for breath. It must not have been more than thirty seconds outside of my walk through memory lane. Asra was by my side, their parents making their way towards me. The woman with the spear was on the table hunting Lucio down. The courtiers were throwing a tantrum and the Devil was yelling at them because something had obviously gone wrong. Everything was in slow motion at first but the next thing I knew Asra's parents were hovering over the both of us, Muriel and Julian on my other side.
"Are you okay?"
"How do you feel?"
"Are you hurt?"
I felt my body changing, just as my past self in the black robe had said. Energy, so much energy.
It was almost too much to take in. Everyone peering at me.
All I could say was...
"I remember"
