OMG I CAN’T TELL YOU THE CONTEXT OF HOW THIS CROSSED MY MIND BUT:

MMA athlete falls for professional Ballet dancer AU.

Cass is the ballet dancer, Steph is the MMA fighter.

Steph’s athlete name is “Spoiler” because she is famous for knocking out people quickly, “spoiling” the fight by ending it too early.

In every other aspect, however, she’s a showgirl, smiling, dancing and playfighting before she climbs on the ring. A lot of competitors think she’s annoying because of that, but she’s never disrespectful, always bowing to her competitors before and after the fight, no matter the result. She gathers a lot of fans quickly because of her charm.

Cass is a very disciplined dancer. Very serious about her art, practicing all the time.

Adopted by the Wayne family, she had a tough past and has selective mutism. She can sometimes talk to Bruce, Dick, Alfred, Tim, and Babs if she feels comfortable. Other than that, she communicates with sign language.

She is in Gotham’s ballet company. (Maybe she dreams about going abroad, maybe she doesn’t, depends on what’s the main point of the fic really) She seems intimidating to anyone who doesn’t talk to her, but the few dancers that made an effort to know her quickly realized that she’s really sweet and helpful, always happy to help others improve their dance skills

Steph is dragged to a ballet presentation by her friends, Tim and Jason, because their sister is going to be performing and they are endlessly proud of her. It’s an original play from Gotham’s ballet academy, and she thinks she’ll be bored out of her mind, but when the presentations starts and the character called “Black Bat” comes on the stage, she has her eyes glued on the dancer, and when she steps out of the stage she keeps expecting her return.

Tim notices this, of course. He’s smart and he’s known this girl for some time now. He also knows that Steph has never met Cass and can’t wait to see her reaction when she finds out the dancer she’s already head over heels for is his sister.

Of course, Tim insists she meets Cass after the show, and she chokes on her spit when she sees Cass for the first time, in her Black Bat outfit.

She tries to be confident, but she’s a bit of a gay mess tm.

Cass finds her odly endearing.

Steph, upon learning that Cass uses ASL to communicate begs Tim for lessons.

She doesn’t even tries to hide her crush from him, she knows she won’t be able to.

She dedicates herself so much to the lessons that she picks it up surprisingly quickly.

Cass is surprised with how quickly she’s able to have full conversations with her in ASL, even if she has to take it slow and sometimes needs to pause and say things out loud that she still can’t quite translate.

All through this, Steph takes Cass to all kinds of amazing places that Bruce doesn’t let her go to in Gotham, because he’s afraid something bad will happen to her. Steph isn’t afraid of those places, because she grew up in worse ones, and now she can activey protect herself and Cass, so she takes her behind his back.

Steph teaches Cass how to throw punches and some more basic self-defence moves, and she’s too great at it. Cass tries to teach Steph some basic ballet moves, but she’s a complete disaster when it comes to dance, her body too stiff and used to the short and calculated jiu-jitsu moves, or the thightness and rapid moves from boxing.

Cass finds her attempts adorable.

It doesn’t take long for Steph to figure out that Cass can read her body language. She doesn’t think that even Cass fully knows what she’s doing, she just knows that she can always tell how everyone is feeling. Steph spends some time trying to find out why does she have such a skill, and doesn’t realize something very important.

A few days later she wakes up in the middle of the night when the realization hits her

“OH FUCK, SHE KNOWS”

She freaks out about it with Tim, who is just... “Why don’t you confess then?” - “NO I CANT WHAT IF SHE DOESNT LIKE ME” - “If she didn’t like you then she wouldn’t go on dates with you” - “Those weren’t dates?” “They were to her.” - “Oh. OH.”

She runs after Cass, who’s training in her studio, thinking of this beautiful speech she’s gonna recite to her, but when she gets there she just... Blinks. Stay still, watching this beautiful girl pour her spirit into her art, allowing her to see this piece of her soul, and suddely nothing she could ever say would compare to that. So when Cass is done she goes up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder

“I love you.”

Cass signs to her “I know. Me too.”

“I’m gonna kiss you now.”

Cass nods

And holy shit, it feels like the world is exploding and rebuilding slowly.

After that, whenever she wins a fight Steph yells “This is for you, my Black Bat!” and throws a kiss at the camera or into the crowd.

Every one is confused as fuck, because they’re not out for the general public yet. They just assume she has a boyfriend with that nickname.

When asked about it by the local news, she just says “You really think I’m straight? With all of the effort I’ve put in all this? Kind of offended now, not gonna lie.”

And when Cass is finally ready to come out, everyone is like “Ooooh, that makes sense”

I don’t even ship those two all that much tbh, I even like to headcannon Cass as aro/ace (Although this would work super well for ace Cass too, I guess?) But they are the pairing that fits this the most in my mind. (Although Dickbabs could work too, or even Robinstar (Dick is the ballet dancer, ofc), and maybe even TimKon? Or Damijon? it could work with many ships if you really want to)

So yeah, I’d love for this to be a cliche fic plot. I might even try my hand at it, but rn I can’t sooooo... If someone sees this and feels inspired by it, send me the link when you’re done, hahahahahahaha!

RWBY vol6, eps 1-4

wow i love roadtrips where nothing interesting happens i hope we have several more volumes just like vols4-6

Episode 1

I forgot this episode opened on Adam slaughtering the White Fang. What Is Character Consistency

You know, it’d be a lot easier to sell Adam as someone using the Fang as a method of getting control or power if he hadn’t had to be blackmailed into working with Salem. If that hadn’t happened, this’d all run quite a bit smoother.

The aesthetics of Ruby’s Semblance genuinely suck. I get it’s probably hard to animate, but there’s gotta be something better than “giant red blob”.

Weiss also turned into a white blob when saved by Ruby using her Semblance, and while that doesn’t check out on how Semblances work I assume it’s just because it’s easier to animate.

Ruby and Nora being so excited about taking a train of all things seems dumb until you remember they walked to Haven. Which leads to the question of “why didn’t they go to the closest town with a train station”, but, shh.

How did Faunus saving Mistral Academy help them when it was Faunus putting it in danger in the first place? Or did they keep that part quiet?

Blake wants to track down the people responsible for the Fall of Beacon? Wow, maybe she shouldn’t have let Adam escape, then.

Blake’s ear and Sun’s tail animations are great. Also, Blacksun is way better established than Bumblebee. Blake kissing Sun turning into her and Yang being a thing is uh, how do you say, very misleading

I did like Blake’s awkwardness around Yang this episode, but would’ve loved some on Yang’s side as well.

Maria! Aka a massive waste of time god RWBY’s crew is overcrowded

It’s also funny that Qrow assumes everything bad that happens is his fault, in a sort of sad way.

Trained huntsman are OP as shit. Why are the two idiots guarding the train so incompetent? Especially when compared to first year dropouts?

Also this “turn off the turrets!” nonsense is nonsense. Yes, lets turn off our defences that are killing Grimm quicker than the Hunters are? The train is already reinforced, it just feels like the writers wanted a reason for Ruby to tell someone what to do.

Ruby’s leadership moments really, truly, genuinely suck.

Also, given it’s RWBY’s fault the Grimm are here to begin with...

I think Oz not telling the team the Relic attracts Grimm is like, the only morally dubious thing he’s actually done in recent volumes.

Blake’s Adam trauma would work better if, uh, she hadn’t treated him like a complete nobody not worth her time last volume.

This extended fight scene has a better reason for being here than the other ones, but that doesn’t mean its fun to watch. Also, why does Qrow get knocked around more than the amateurs???

His dual-kill with Ruby is cute, at least.

Episode 2

The scene where it’s revealed Cinder survived (to the shock of no one) is actually pretty good. Presumably because no one is talking.

So... Raven took the Relic out for Reasons, and then Yang stopped it from getting put back in the Vault by insisting on bringing it with her, and now there’s. Problems. God, this is such a stupid reason to have the Relic!

I wonder if Yang is so mad at Ozpin for not telling the truth about the Relic attracting Grimm because she knows it’s her stupid fault it didn’t get put back in the Vault.

Team RWBY actually seems a lot madder than Ozpin deserves rn. If the lies had been adding up I’d get it, but they went from 0-100 on thte Oz distrust scale real quick.

authorial clairvoyance rears it’s ugly head. the ironwood problem, once more.

I also feel its valid that Oz doesn’t want to spill his guts more than he has to now that a complete stranger - Maria - is travelling with them.

It turns out it’s actually been a month since Team RWBY (thanks random TV screen in the corner) got the Relic, and that’s a month of Grimm incursions and mistrust they could’ve played for drama if they wanted, but RWBY really jumped the gun... mostly because it doesn’t feel like a month has passed. It felt like a few days at most.

What tone did Cinder take with Malachite? Her voice was too quiet to sound anything other than mostly normal.

It also bugs me this lady is called Malchite, which is green, but her colour scheme is purple.

Malachite’s talk of being scared of spiders, but making them work for her, reminds me of Batman being scared of bats and becoming a furry.

Okay, so apparently it’s been a month since vol 5, but “that big guy” (I assume Hazel) was asking after RWBY last... week?

RWBY is apparently so on edge about the Ozpin thing they are now threatening Qrow. Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of Oz being outed like this, but the buildup is fucked. Qrow also turns on Oz alarmingly quickly.

Also, Yang only yelling after Blake in concern sure is uh. Something.

Episode 3

I like Ozpin and Salem’s backstory in a vacuum, but their characters weren’t strong enough to really make it work. “Oh god this could’ve been cooler in a better show, up to 11.”

i say this knowing FULL WELL oz would very likely be my favourite character... in a better show.

also i really like the character design in this segment. ozma and salem look great.

Also the God of Life seriously just slam dunked Salem into the fountain of youth out of sheer spite and conceptually that is amazing

this all said, i’ll be very disappointed if oz and salem get a zeref-and-mavis style happily ever after ending.

Really not... much to say about it? It’s not a bad backstory, the episode just drags out a little. Buuuuut...

Episode 4

Okay so Team RWBY has been on this anti-Salem mission for a month or less and the worst thing they’ve had to deal with is one Grimm incursion. They haven’t even met Salem. If Oz had been stringing them along for a longass time their anger over him not telling them anything would be more justified, but... guys, it’s been ten minutes and nothing’s happened yet. Shut up.

This is why the only one that has any right to be mad at Oz right now is Qrow. Honestly, they’re the ones I feel bad for.

Poor Oscar, also. I also feel bad for him.

“We yelled at Oz for shit that wasn’t his fault in the midst of a near emotional breakdown, Qrow physically assaulted him and by proxy Oscar AND dealt him an emotional OHKO- how DARE he try to get away from us!”

Maria is the leader now, I guess? This would’ve been an actual good time for Ruby to step up, but apparently she can only chime in when it’s completely unnecessary.

Hazel is the MVP. Salem’s speeches are long and pointless.

he has over 15 brothers, no sisters somehow, but with multiple brothers came a competition between them all, and the biggest being for who would be the neck alpha in line, and as far as anyone was concerned, only the oldest was really thought about for that

either way, apparently that wasn’t the case, because after years he began showing the major side of an alpha from a young age

but still, scout wasn’t always called scout, he was known as no yongjoon before he was known as scout, but that story isn’t the nicest because no yongjoon is a dead werewolf, a traitor of a werewolf

it’s all because of his oldest brother too, a boy that is far too envious of everything to do with scout because he was supposed to be the alpha, he was supposed to take over the pack and be the golden child, not scout, and that’s how everything unfolds

just over 200 years old, preparing to take over the pack as he was supposed to - it’s the night before a full moon when his brother finally makes him snap

the male has been slowly testing his anger for years now, making him more aggressive and irritable than possible, until he finally flips on the full moon

anger drive, scout doesn’t even remember entirely what happens, he doesn’t know it all anyway - but the truth of it all is that when scout flips in wolf form, he attacks anyone he comes in sight with, a feral wolf truly as he kills some of his pack members, innocent civilians even, until the kill count gets over 60 within two nights

when he comes back too, he’s laying on the forest floor with no memories of the night, only that he’s messed up royally and no longer are his eyes a golden colour, but now a bright red that tells the tales enough of what he’s truly done, and his brothers come in major form to let him know just how angry they are at him

apparently anyway, he’d killed one of his younger brothers in the situation that had unfolded, and soon enough they found him and attacked him, both in wolf and human form they came together to rip up his skin and his body, to attack him completely - but the worst becomes when his oldest brother claws down his face, permanently damaging his right eye and leaving a grotesque scar in it’s wake

but maybe it’s wise when scout pretends he’d dead, pretends to die then and there on the forest floor as he bleeds out for all the wounds as they leave him there

but he doesn’t die. no yongjoon the supposed to be alpha wolf dies, but that is when scout wakes up instead

he goes it alone, runs away and goes off on his own instead because that’s all he can do, though the story of the werewolf that completely destroyed his pack and innocent lives, it becomes well known around the supernatural community - only they think he’s dead

scout isn’t though, and anyone that finds out who he is or what he did, he kills them and adds them to the list of bodies piling up behind his back.. an omega now as a lone wolf, but he doesn’t let it hurt him.. he needs to keep going

ten years ago is when he finds himself walking up to keisung academy, years after the incident and offered a place to enrol.. which he does as he keeps to himself for the most part anyway, or well at first, but it doesn’t take long for him to be initiated into a pack - the new moon pack

he joins them, despite his judgement being against it anyway, though it doesn’t take scout any more than a year to challenge the alpha in the middle of the school courtyard

it isn’t a long fight, and with both in wolf form, it doesn’t take long for scout to rip out the throat of the pack’s alpha.. securing his place instead as the new alpha to not be challenged - in his own defence anyway, the original alpha had been a dick and scout really wasn’t having it

but 9 years later, and he’s still the sole alpha of the new moon pack within keisung, and people have found it wise not to challenge him.. or to question his past which still remains a mystery to all

but he left for just over a year and he’s only just comin back now ( kinda a lil bit of a wreck too )

also hyunbin is his baby brother if u hurt him he’ll kill u k thx

personality:

he’s like the best kind of leader guy you can have really, like he’s a good alpha despite how intimidating and cold he can come off with it, but his pack does mean a lot to him even if he told himself he’d never let himself get close to another pack again

but he’s aggressive and he lets it show in the fact that he doesn’t hesitate standing his ground and making sure that his orders are followed and his dominance is known

but for the most part, he does still come off as more recluse than anything really, like he is still kind of on the more loner side for his own reasons, but he doesn’t want anyone finding out about his past and i can guarantee it’s not a good idea to question his red eye okay or the massive scar on his face and over his whole body

Autistic Philippa Eilhart Headcanons

As promised, the Phil Thoughts. Geralt and Regis to follow (I’ll link them here when they’re done!!) This isn’t really in any order...And isn’t very coherent...But I don’t much care.

Philippa Eilhart is pretty fascinating, complex, and rich as a character even before you add this spice on top. I could write screeds and screeds of meta about her sexuality, and her morality, and the place/role she plays in the narrative but...I will focus myself on this.

We need more unapologetic ladies in fiction; and we need even more unapologetic autistic ladies in fiction. I think, way too often, autistic ladies get overlooked, because they get good at hiding their traits/covering them up because it’s expected for them to be nice, and quiet, and polite, and good at all things social. And I’m so beyond here for lady autistic characters being ‘fuck that’ and being exactly themselves, and really, there’s no female character I can easily think of capable of doing that better than Philippa Eilhart.

Especially when Philippa is already utterly unapologetic and unashamed of the way she is, and especially since a lot of that really lines up with autism. It doesn’t really take much of a stretch with this. Wait, I’ll make a list, I like lists, and it breaks this up a little, but okay let’s see:

-She’s...Not the best with Social Skills. She’s definitely intelligent, definitely capable of scheming, and plotting, and manipulating people for the sake of her own ends but she’s also...Quite blunt. Quite to the point. I’m also fairly sure I remember (though maybe I don’t) the way that she watches people, studies them, that and the fact she’s had 300 years to perfect her observings of people helps her make up a little, and learn their body language....But she’s not perfect. And she’s just...never quiet been able to perfect the expected social niceties (and, frankly, at the age she is, she’s probably too fucking tired to bother with them tbh. She doesn’t see the point in them, she never gets them right, why bother?)

And there’s actually...Sometimes not a lot of subtlety with her? At least, not in her interactions with other people. She is, if memory serves, rather lacking in delicacy. She says what she thinks, she doesn’t mince her words, she simply...Is?

Philippa is so honest about her dishonesty that she almost comes full circle and becomes honest again.

‘"Decent and honorable?" "You must be joking." ‘

Which I’m associating here with autism both as a social skills thing, and a black and white thinking thing. It’s this...Delightful little contradiction within her? Because she is duplicitous, and she lies, and she manipulates...But she’s so...Upfront about it? And utterly apologetic about it, too. This is just...The way Phil’s world works. This is just who and what she is. No point trying to pretend otherwise, what’s the point in that?

-Again with the black and white thinking is her commitment and determination. Philippa is utterly relentless, and single-minded in her pursuit of her goals. Not only in terms of ruthlessness, and the willingness to do whatever she deems necessary, but just her dedication to her goal is pretty admirable. I’m pretty sure the world could end, and leave her the sole survivor, and she’d just keep battling on in her defence of magic, it’s interesting.

-And speaking of interesting, magic can definitely be a special interest for Phil. Her dedication to it, the depth of her knowledge, how skilled she is (the fact that she’s one of few to have mastered polymorphy, for example) are all indicative of an obsessive interest.

-I think Phil gets characterised as a character without morals quite a lot. Which I understand, I do. But I also think that she...very strictly follows Rules. They’re just....her rules. Her own personal, internal rules. The rest of the world can go fuck itself, but certain things have to work a certain way. She struggle to see the merit in/accept worldviews that don’t line up with hers. I also think that she has very strict morals within herself. I think she has things that she believes are right, and things that she believes are wrong, and I think that’s something that she will never compromise. It’s that adherence to rules, as well as rigid thinking, which is quite interesting.

-Phil’s intensity is pretty indicative of autism as well, I think. Philippa, I think, is a character that feels things very deeply. She has, as I’ve said, very strong feelings concerning magic, and her idea of how the world should work. But on an emotional level, too. More than one of the characters, and Phil herself, I believe, have commented on her restlessness, her desires, the intensity of her feelings, and the things it can drive her to do. And also, that...Itch that she gets, the desire to get out and Do something, just reminds me of overstimulation tbh. So there’s that.

-But on the surface, she comes off as cold, and indifferent. And I can make a case for her being low-empathy as a part of this based on the way she reacts to other people (which is nuanced, and complex, and is something I could write an entire other piece of meta on itself, but...we’ll not go there rn) But I think that Phil...Doesn’t show that care for other people, and she doesn’t really let her emotions show all that much, either. She comes off as this ice queen, but beneath the surface we know that it’s a different story (which is a really interesting little contradiction to consider, even outside oft his headcanon), but, yeah.

-And on the subject of emotions and cold indifference, I think her decision making process is interesting too. Because it almost always revolves around logic. Whatever her emotions dictate, she typically makes judgements based on practical reasons, rather than emotional ones. Her emotions are strong, and are intense, but when it comes down to it, she’s ruled by her head. Almost too much.

I think a good example of this is the conversation she has with Yennefer about redeeming her in Geralt’s eyes. Yennefer’s plea is one that comes purely from a place of sentiment, and emotion. Philippa’s answer is one that comes purely from logic, and a careful, thought-through examination of the practical consequences of her action.

Philippa comes across as cold, and cruel in that moment, because Yennefer is so desperate, and her request seems so easy to grant, but that is 100% not Phil’s motivation there. She is not doing this to be cruel, she’s not doing this to hurt Yen, or Geralt, or anyone. She’s doing this because it doesn’t make sense.

(And it would also have been easy here to lie to Yennefer, especially with Triss watching, and promise her that she’d do what she’s asking, to make sure they part on good terms, that’s the calculating, manipulative thing to do here. But Phil doesn’t do it. It’s again that strange, unapologetic honesty that she has, and I think it’s interesting too, because it would have been easy to lie, would have been ‘smarter’ to lie, might even have suited her purposes better to just lie, and tell Yennefer what she wants to hear. But she doesn’t. And that’s...really fucking interesting, from my pov anyway)

But yes, Phil’s entire decision making process there is based on logic. She is practical. She is pragmatic, above all.

-Her planning, too. There’s always something ticking away in the back of her mind. She’s always thinking about things, always picking at the details, always tugging at threads, always plotting, and planning every little thing. Which I can quite easily see being a habit. I think she probably orchestrates her breakfast in the same way she’d orchestrate an assassination. It’s just the way that her mind works.

-Okay, lighter/less canon related/’ur just making things up u like now, lauren, aren’t u?’ ‘yep’

-Phil hating flying when it’s raining because the feeling of her wet feathers is Sensory Hell.

-but equally, Phil loving flying more than just about anything else, especially when she’s stressed, because it’s such a nice, calming stim.

-Phil chilling in owl form quite a lot when she gets overstimulated because it’s so much easier to deal with (esp if she’s non-verbal, bc no-one demands that an owl start talking to them, and that is a blessing)

-Phil having a deep guilty pleasure of having her feathers stroked because it is The Best (all who know this are sworn to secrecy about it)

-Phil being hypersensitive to touch, and exceedingly picky about who she allows touch her, when, and where. People 100% respecting Phil’s boundaries on this bc they’re not Dicks.

-Phil being hypersensitive to certain sounds as well, and getting extremely short-tempered, irritable, and snappish when overstimulated. Anyone who spends any amount of time around her starts recognising this, and doing their best to minimise the noises that are bothering her so much.

-Phil definitely likes deep pressure, and is just kind of like ‘lay on me’ @ all of her partners at any given moment. Especially when she’s stressed (which is...almost always tbh, even if she doesn’t show it)

-okay this one is my fav, Indulge Me: most of the sorceresses were sent to Aretuza, if I remember, bc they had some kind of physical deformity which the sorceresses ‘corrected’ when they took them in (I am not going to discuss the wisdom of this, bc it’s not really my place, but lays the groundwork for this, so I’ll mention it briefly)

We don’t really know what Phil was sent off for but I kind of like the idea of it being bc of her autism. HEAR ME OUT.

So her family take her to Aretuza and are just....She’s weird, okay, there’s something wrong with her, have her if you want, fix her if you can, kind of thing. And smol!Phil is not oblivious to this. Smol!Phil knows she is different. Smol!Phil knows she is ‘weird’ to use her mother’s favourite phrase. Smol!Phil understands she’s being sent to this place so she can be made normal and ‘fixed’.

Smol!Phil trains at the academy with the others, and never feels any different. No-one ever uses spells, or potions, or anything to try and fix her. One day, she decides to talk to Rita about it. She pulls her aside, and asks her in that way of hers (I can see Phil being such a serious child. So intense and intense, like she’s got the wisdom she has at 300 at the age of 11) and just straight up asks Rita why she doesn’t feel any different. Her family sent her here so they could fix her, make her normal, stop her being the way she is, but she doesn’t feel any different at all. Why isn’t it working?

Rita gets very indignant, and angry, that smol!Phil has been led to think these things, and very firmly informs her that they cannot fix her. There is nothing to fix, there is nothing wrong with her. This is just who she is.

And that’s the end of that.

Why did Haley and aaron decide to get a child (idk how to express that properly sorry) at the time they did? Like why then, why not earlier? They’ve known each other since high school, were they already trying? Did it not work or did something stop them?

Ahhh there’s was something else but I keep forgetting it grrrrr

Maybe what hotches love language is? Because he clearly cares about the team but how does he show it?

What made him give up his job as a prosecutor and become a profiler?

1. I am now going to refer to having a baby as getting a child I love that!! Okay so my headcanon about this is really boring... in my opinion, they didn't intend to wait THAT long. They broke up when they went to college because they wanted to make sure they were definitely compatible, and they got back together when Hotch started law school- which was right after graduation. Haley was teaching, and Hotch was still a student so finances were not great, so they held off because they wanted to be stable.

They got married a few months after Hotch started as a prosecutor, and then they sat down and had a conversation about children. Hotch had always wanted a kid, but he was terrified. Anyways, they started trying, but it just wasn't happening- the doctors said everything seemed fine, and couldn't work out what was wrong.

Haley wanted to take a break from trying because it was just getting harder and harder to look at the negative tests, and Hotch obviously accepted this. Then he left the prosecutors office and went back to the FBI academy, so there was a break there, and then Hotch needed to get established because he couldn't be having a child when he was just working as security, then as SWAT...

They chose to have a baby when they did because things seemed settled. They were back in Virginia, close to Haley's family and their hometown. Hotch had been with the BAU for long enough to be able to step down or become a desk agent. Gideon was unit chief, and Morgan would make a great lead profiler, JJ was handling things as liaison and Reid would grow with help from Gideon. Hotch could easily leave.

It was the best possible option. But Haley found out she was pregnant moments before Hotch got a phone call telling him the team needed to go to Boston because there had been a series of bombings... and that bomber just happened to be Adrian Bale. So yeah.

2. Okay this is just projection. I think Hotch's proper love language is quality time. Like he's happy to just sit in a room with someone and exist. You don't need to talk, or even be doing something together, it's just the company and their presence. When him and Haley were together, they would sit together in silence and she would mark/plan and he would write his papers etc.

When it comes to the team, he adjusts his love language to what they need. This means he hugs Garcia and kisses her forehead, and takes her hands when he's speaking to her. It means he comes into the office with a coffee and a snack for Reid because he hates buying himself stuff, or he'll bring him a book or clothes that are brand-new. It means JJ gets words of affirmation and Emily comes in to see something has been done for her.

Rossi and Morgan are more complicated.

Hotch shows how much he loves Morgan by trusting him in a way he doesn't with the other members of the team because his role in their lives is different. Morgan knows Hotch's phone password, and what his different microexpressions mean. He's also the only one that will Hotch he's being an idiot and a control freak, and Morgan is the only one that Hotch trusts enough to hand over control...

With Rossi... okay this is sad, but it needs to be said. He lies. He hides his true personality, and he regresses back into the young, hopeful and desperate to please agent that was first recruited to the BAU. Because he's not stupid. He knows that Gideon sent a letter to Rossi when he left asking him to come back, and that's the only reason he did. He also knows that Gideon painted him as that same boy, so he pretends to be someone else in order to help Rossi feel useful and needed (AHEM THIS CAN FEED INTO THE ARGUMENT IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO WRITE IT)

3. OOH!! I wrote this!! The start of the second chapter aaron (which you can find if you click here hehe cheeky self promo) is basically his final case as a prosecutor. Hotch tells JJ (I think?) it was because he got tired of getting justice for people after they died. I ran with that line and altered things slightly.

There is a case that crosses his desk. He takes it because he's been assigned it, and when he looks at the little boy in the file, he sees himself. Because this child is not dead. They're alive. And the police believed them when they said their father is abusive, so now they're in court. And he wants to do for this kid what no adult ever did for him: listen, and act. So it's several long nights and early mornings.

It means he's at the office when Sean calls him. He ignores the message. He goes home, and Haley tells him his mother has passed away. That she was admitted to the hospital, but when they, Sean and her tried to get through to him, they got his voicemail instead.

They go home for the funeral, and Sean blames him. Roy steps in and is like: Sean stop, but the damage is done. And when Hotch ends up in court, the defence rip him and the child to shreds, and he loses the case. The child blames him, spits in his face, and gets sent home with the father.

He gets home, sobs the moment he closes the front door, and the next day, Haley presses the FBI recruitment advert into his hands and tells him to apply.
