James Gunn Denies Immediate Production of Teen Titans Movie, Casting Still Uncertain
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has dashed hopes for the immediate production of the Teen Titans movie. Recent speculation suggesting that filming would kick off by the end of the year has been debunked by Gunn himself.
Responding to a query from a DC fan on Threads, Gunn refuted a report from Production List claiming that Teen Titans would commence shooting in Los Angeles on December 31, 2024. The disappointment is palpable for fans eagerly awaiting the live-action debut of the Teen Titans on the big screen. Gunn's dismissal of the Production List report also casts doubt on the accuracy of the website's information regarding DC projects, as a similar report about the Booster Gold series was also debunked by Gunn.
The anticipation for a live-action Teen Titans movie peaked after James Gunn hinted at its development in March 2024, with Ana Nogueira slated to pen the screenplay. Nogueira, known for her work on the DCU movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, remains attached to the project. However, the lineup of young heroes expected to feature in the film remains a mystery. While characters like Beast Boy, Raven, Cyborg, Starfire, and Robin/Nightwing are iconic members of the Teen Titans team, no official announcements have been made regarding their inclusion.
While casting for Teen Titans has yet to commence, actor Ian Ousley from Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender series has expressed interest in playing Beast Boy. During the 2024 Fan Expo Philadelphia's Avatar: The Last Airbender panel in May, Ousley revealed his aspiration to portray Beast Boy, calling it a "dream role" for him.
In other DCU news, James Gunn provided an update on the Superman reboot, which is currently in production. The film, touted as the first release in the DCU, is "a little over halfway through shooting." David Corenswet leads the cast as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane. While plot details remain scarce, Gunn has hinted that the reboot will delve into Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.
Directed and written by Gunn, the Superman reboot is scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.

The Screen Actors Guild Nominations
Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Banshees of Inisherin are tied for the most film nominations at the 2023 SAG Awards with 5 each. Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans managed to leave a mark with 2 nominations. Other films that managed to score 2 SAG Award nominations include The Whale, The Woman King, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Literally, just after winning Golden Globes last night, Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Angela Bassett have all continued to secure spots in their respective categories. One nomination that may come as a surprise is Adam Sandler in Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role for Netflix’s Hustle,
The most nominated television show from the 2023 SAG Award nominations is Ozark with a tally of 4. Barry, Better Call Saul, and Only Murders in the Building then come in second with 3 nominations each. Again, after last night’s Golden Globes, Quinta Brunson, Jennifer Coolidge, Jeremy Allen White, Paul Walter Houser, Amanda Seyfried, Evan Peters, and Julia Garner nabbed spots in their respective categories and are shaping to be this awards season’s favorite in television.
29th Annual SAG Awards will be the first to be aired live on Netflix’s YouTube channel on Sunday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m

RACHEL BROSNAHAN, the wolf

Hey so when Rachel Brosnahan and Michael Zegen were playing with puppies for their interview, at about 6 minutes 30 seconds in they ask them what kind of shows they’ve been binge-watching and Rachel says Barry is one her favorite things on TV right now! First Sophie Turner and now her! I’m glad that Barry’s been getting so much traction lately! And it’s kind of apt because she won her emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy for Mrs. Maisel the same year Bill Hader won his emmy for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy for Barry so they’re counterparts, in a way.
Also, this has nothing to do with Barry, but around 20 seconds in or so they ask them what roles people would be surprised that they auditioned for and Rachel says that she auditioned for The Last Airbender movie when she was around 16 or 17. Like any self-respecting fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender would know, WHOO BOY! SHE DODGED A FREAKING BULLET with that one!
