I just remembered that last night I kept dreaming of all sorts of ways to die, from horrible diseases to accidents, and the last thing a young Indian (as in from India) looking woman with a pageboy haircut said to me before I woke up was “All things are rot and death”

Craziest thing is it wasn’t even a nightmare. It wasn’t pleasant but the world was full of color and sunshine so I wasn’t scared. Just mildly disturbed.

its raining really hard outside rn and I heard a group of boys (it is midnight btw) suddenly start up a jumbled chorus of singing before one of them went, "WAIT WAIT WAIT ok ONE, TWO, THREE" and then they sang feel the rain on your skin all off beat for like 2 secs before dissolving into mumbles again

In my head this is the Challengers power structure. As in who has more “control” over who.

Tashi > Art > Patrick > Tashi (and on and on forever).

I think they all love each other but it’s just a little uneven. In my non-geometry-understanding head I think it makes the triangle stable hehe .

Idk am I wrong? Did someone already make up some amazing analysis for this (link?)? Or am I just finding a new way to say that phrase I don’t agree with (Patrick loves Art, Art loves Tashi, Tashi loves tennis 🙄😭)

And yeah I think Patrick has power over Tashi. The way she was/is down bad for Patrick. I mean right after she got engaged?? In the back of his musty ass car he was living in…girl you are a wife and a mother…STAND UP😭

In Germany it is half past midnight so I can finally go to bed 😆 It's my sons birthday today, so I have to get up early probably. He is turning five (when did that happen???😭).

About the last book I read (the first novel of the Nicolas le Floch series) :

(Random reflections below the cut)

- I love the setting. 18th century is not a period I know very well, except maybe in religious architecture and a little bit of costume history, so I had Wikipedia open in parallel to check. I learnt things, it was fun !

- The characters are cool. It's interesting to see how the author chose to represent historical figures (Sanson as a forensic expert sure is a choice and I love it)

- Every time I read Châtelet, I had the metro station in head. Wich is very distracting when trying to imagine the old equivalent of a police station

- This is a book that made me want to eat. Descriptions of meals are strangely frequent and detailed x)

- I think I prefer the books to the tv series, because the setting is larger (except maybe for the dialogues. Subtext and things left unsaid are way more interesting when it's not explicited immediately by Nicolas in his head). Love interests feel less awkward and the internal pov helps a lot for sympathy towards the main character

- Borrowed and read it on the Internet Archive. Very cool and useful ✨️
