This is a secretarybird, the most alien-looking bird I have ever seen in person. It stands about four feet tall, and hunts lizards, snakes, and other small animals by walking along looking at the ground. It can strike prey with its beak, but often uses its long legs and claws.

I have read that secretarybirds often hunt in pairs or groups, but the two I saw were solitary.

You know what? Three-way crossover. Danny Phantom, DC, and Monster Hunter. 

Specifically something akin to Monster Hunter Wilds (Which isn’t out at this time) where there’s not much or any sort of settlements (from what we’ve seen) though there’s some signs of ancient ones. But several heroes might have erm, fallen through a portal or two and now they’re in some sort of… place full of unknown creatures and monsters. 

Dragons, for one, but that’s just the beginning of the proverbial iceberg. And they might be a bit… stuck. Just a little bit. 

On the other hand, the Eternal Quartet- that is Tucker, Danny, Sam & Valerie- have decided to go on a bit of vacation before college. You know, get some last bit of feral-ness out and alright maybe they just wanted to not have to deal with other people. 

And there’s a bunch of creatures here, and plenty of plants for Sam to get excited about too. And look, Valerie isn’t going to say no to a giant velociraptor sort of creature that she can ride. And- holy fuck Tucker do not harness the power of a storm to power your PDA- Actually stop summoning storms please-

There’s been some really interesting discussion on violence and hunting instincts going around, so fuck it, rambling time.

⚠️ TW: Violence, Prey Drive/Hunting Instincts, Intrusive Thoughts & ‘Thought Crimes’.

As a dinosaur, the hunt is not violence. As a dinosaur, I’m simply not capable of recognising prey items as anything more complex than food. Bringing down prey feels no different from cooking dinner, really.

But as a human, I’m painfully aware that things my prey drive wants me to go for are beings with their own experiences of the world. Especially when those things are humans.

I don’t blame the instincts, for the record. They’re holdovers from before modern society was even a twinkle in anyone’s eye, exacerbated by my nonhumanity. My instincts don’t focus on humans specifically, it’s just that my options are very limited in the places I’ve lived. Humans and livestock are the only animals with enough meat to be worth the energy to hunt.

That’s not to say I always enjoy having them, though. Especially when I was younger they were a source of great distress. I was stuck in an awful loop of [urge to hunt] -> [being frightened by that] -> [intrusive thoughts telling me only bad people have bad thoughts, so I 5 be a bad person] rinse, repeat.

I spent many years feeling like I was a hair’s breadth away from snapping and really hurting someone. Not true, of course, but try confronting irrational thoughts with facts and logic some time. It’s rarely very effective

I’ve come a long way since then. With appropriate treatment, my laundry list of mental health issues are significantly more manageable. Not to say I don’t have bad days, but on balance, I’m okay with who - and what - I am.

Golden eagles are one of the largest raptors in North America, and their numbers are declining due to an unlikely poison: lead ammunition left behind by game hunters. Eagles scavenge on animal remains contaminated by lead bullets, so conservationists are proposing a radical solution: getting hunters to go lead-free.

When hunters use lead ammunition, their bullets can fragment into hundreds of tiny pieces upon impact. These fragments are then left behind in gut pits that scavengers like golden eagles, California condors, and bald eagles feed on. Over time, the lead weakens their bones and interrupts nerve function, causing the eagles to lose coordination, become paralyzed, or eventually die.

That’s where Sporting Lead-Free comes in. Their mission: build a grassroots movement to educate hunters about lead-free alternatives like copper bullets, bringing the community back to their roots as conservationists. Through ballistics demonstrations, x-ray scans, and global ambassadors, this is an issue where every individual truly can choose to make a difference.

Simple gifts

When it comes to good pair, my requirement is quite easy to please. They must be know how to communicate with each other, enjoyed every simple things as long as they are together and equal in power. I think it don't matter how affectionate or they can fill the sexual needs if my requirement don't happened. I don't like too much misunderstandings and always jealous trope. Its tiring to watch. I also love it when a couple have good platonic relationship with their children, helper, relatives, neighbors and friends. Kudo trusted Yurie so much and Miyo's good treatment with Yurie is actually the key to win his heart easily. Sieg was not faze when she found out the villagers hate foreigners like her but instead she gave the villagers time to accept her and walk around the village every early morning to get to know them.
