Kalego x Opera x Chubby AFABReader
Kalego squirmed as your hands ran down his thighs. Legs pulling helplessly at the restraints tied around his limbs, hands and ankles not even moving a millimetre despite using all his strength against Opera's. Whimpers and pleas spilt from his mouth for more. To touch him where he wants it the most.
You both ignored him.
Instead, you focused on tracing the femoral artery in his thigh with your nails before leaning over to lick and suck your way from his knee back up towards his pelvis. Once again, you avoided the one area he wanted the most attention, coming up at the last second to repeat the same action on his other thigh. It wouldn't be as much fun if he got what he wanted, and you all knew it.
Looking up when you heard shifting, you saw Opera moving so that they were using their legs to hold down Kalego's arms as they leaned over themselves to kiss him. Their hands gently held his head in place before reaching up as far as they comfortably could down his abdomen -- reaching either side of where his cock bobbed just under his navel -- and lightly dragged their nails back up towards them. Thin lines appeared in their wake, slowly welling with the thick red liquid that gave Kalego life. The groan Kalego let out was swallowed by Opera as they took advantage of Kalego's open mouth.
You, in turn, brought your attention back to his thighs. Unlike your demonic lovers, your nails weren't built as well for tearing into skin -- cleanly, that was. You could certainly gouge flesh out if you wanted, but this was neither the time nor place for such acts. Instead, you reached down to your garter and pulled out a shiny dagger, the hilt carved from a Netherworld gem called Hemolite -- which looked like a beautiful swirling mixture of amethyst and ruby -- a courting gift from Opera. You brought the cool metal and ran it along the femoral artery, tracing the many branching paths that it took, careful to never nick any of them.
You watched as his muscles seized and grew taut with each pass you made. Waiting, anticipating, for when the blade would press into his flesh as well. You took your time choosing. Would you do it here, you pressed the metal harder into him, just barely avoiding splitting his flesh open, directly down the middle of his thigh. Or perhaps here, along one of the many branching paths of smaller veins that your dagger twisted and danced across. Or, as your eyes flicked up, you could do it somewhere else entirely.
With a smirk on your face, you climbed up slightly higher, letting the knife trail from back up his thigh until you reached his throbbing member. The blade moved just above the metal ring wrapped around his cock before slowly grazing up to the tip. You let it circle around the head, just barely letting the metal graze him until you made a quick shallow cut along the edge. Kalego let out a choked gasp as blood welled to the surface of the cut and dribbled down, mixing with the pre suddenly leaking from his cock, turning a light pinkish colour.
Your eyes watched it trail down before you leaned down to drag your tongue up his cock, catching the liquid as you followed the path back up to the tip. Kalego's thigh tensed around you and you heard him make a deep guttural moan from above you as your tongue worked to clean the mess you had made. Your hand dropped the dagger and moved to grip the base, using your saliva as a lubricant to smoothly move up and down slightly. Your tongue making kitten licks and tiny swirls around the tip of his head, listening to his groans and pants into Opera's mouth and the rattling of the chains around his legs as they twitched.
Deciding you had teased him enough, you opened your mouth further, flattening your tongue and engulfed the entirety of the head. You heard Kalego shout the sudden change, felt his hips lift as much as they could to try and force you into taking him deeper, chasing the feeling to spread to his entire cock. The resulting act caused you to choke a little and you heard Opera hiss in warning as your hand moved from his member to dig your nails into the line where his thighs met his pelvis for your own threat. Kalego whimpered but reluctantly listened and lowered his hips back down.
With Kalego tamed for the moment you turned your focus back to the thick piece of meat pulsing in your mouth. Raising your head, a little again you gave the tip another swipe of your tongue before lowering again. Every time you raised your head you would drag your tongue along the underside of his shaft before swirling around the head and going back down again, taking more and more of his dick in your mouth with each pass. Over and over again you bobbed your head, pre and drool leaking out of your mouth and down his throbbing member, taking more and more of him in until eventually you felt the head hit the entrance to your throat, with still a few more inches of him left to go.
You had a sudden decision you had to make now. You could just continue as you had been, simply bobbing your head and listening to the mewls and whimpers coming from Kalego, or you could take it a step further. Well, you had never been a coward.
As you came back up this time, you took advantage to rearrange your body. Throwing both of your arms so that your elbows were perched on his hips it was easy to place one hand to wrap back around the base of his cock and the other underneath to cup his balls that were so desperate to blow a load but couldn't do so due to the cool metal rings looped around them. With a devilish smirk on your face, you lowered your head once more until you felt the head bob the back of your throat again – and then you swallowed.
You felt the head pop into your throat, heard Kalego give a deep snarl and felt his balls tense in your hand as you roll them around. Could feel as they tried so hard to empty themselves into your stomach but were stopped by the cock ring even as Kalego bucked and whimpered underneath you. Begging the both of you to just let him go, to please let him cum. You almost choked as he moved underneath you, not fully expecting his throbbing member to force itself further into your throat but swallowed around him again just in time.
You nearly choked again, this time in surprise, around Kalego's cock at the sudden pulling sensation of your hair, light pain pulsing where the strands attached to your head. For a second you thought Opera had let Kalego go, only to pull up, drool and pre-cum dripping from your lips, to see Opera's face in front of your own. Kalego whined at the loss as Opera pulled you closer. Their tongue darted out to lick up the mess on your chin and lips before drawing you in for a deep kiss, the rich taste of Kalego's blood mixing in with the saltiness of his pre and Opera's own unique taste. You moaned at the taste, hands reaching out to cup Opera's face as you both fought for dominance. Opera always won, but that didn't mean you wouldn't try.
The prize, while running along the same veins, was always different. This time it was you, as their arms circled your waist, digging into your soft flesh before lifting and turning you in one smooth motion, before dropping you on your back right next to Kalego. A short squeal left you as you fell, followed by an 'oof' when you landed.
You felt the mattress dip below you and spread your legs as you looked up to see Opera towards you from the bottom of the bed. You blinked in confusion before glancing over at Kalego to see his arms had now also been restrained by the same cuffs and chains that held his legs down, his eyes, lidded and glazed over, but still sharp as they never left Opera's form as they came closer to you. You had know Opera was fast, but this speed bordered on ridiculousness.
Your own eyes trailed back to Opera as their shoulders nudged your legs further apart, tongue darting out briefly to lick their lips as they stared directly into your eyes. It was unfair how unfazed they looked despite the slight flush to their pale cheeks and loosely tussled hair. You already knew both you and Kalego looked super flushed and dazed out. And it would only get worse you concluded, as Opera lowered the front half of their body down so that their arms braced under your upper thighs and hoisted your lower legs up so that your feet rested on their back.
Their eyes stayed locked on yours as their face lowered even further, the feline demon's eyes just barely being seen over the chub of your stomach where their clawed hands rested. Hands which were gripping and releasing your flesh over and over again like an actual cat kneading. They were far more careful with their nails on you then either of you had been with Kalego. Not once did they draw blood or even leave angry trails behind. Their hands trailed down your gut before settling themselves around the flesh of your thighs.
Their long digits pressed themselves into skin causing your fat to ident and overlap on itself around them as their claws threatened to rip it open and expose your lifeblood that was the same colour of their hair, forcing your legs to stay open as their head dipped low. Their fire like eyes stared into yours, never wavering even when yours closed with an accompanying gasp escaping you as their tongue poked out and ran along your slit.
You couldn't help squirming at the feeling of the rough bumps along their tongue scraping against your flesh as it ran up before soothing out the pain by running the smooth underside of their tongue back down again. Whimpers fell from your mouth as they repeated the action over and over again before you suddenly jolted at the sensation of pleasure that ran through your veins as that rough tongue scraped itself over the bud poking out of your slit.
Mewls and pleads tore from you as you begged them to do it again, hands pulling at their horns as you tried to direct them towards it. Considering the differences in strength between the two of you, they hardly even moved beyond their tongue continuing its original path. Never mind that you were pulling as hard as possible, they didn't budge an inch and simply continued in torturing you slowly, always just barely brushing the edge of your clit but never fully touching it.
Briefly your mind considered simply ordering them to do it, but you had long since learned that despite being Opera's mistress, it was them who was in control of these sessions.
Finally, after dozens of pleas left your lips for more, Opera's fingers repositioned themselves to reach past your stomach and hold your lower lips open. The sudden full exposure against the cold air coupled with Opera's warmer breath sent shivers down your spine until your entire body seized as their tongue made its first swipe up your clit. It was nothing much really, just a little kitten swipe up but it had sent floods of pleasure through you and wanting more. Even voicing as such with whimpers puncturing your every word until Opera deigned to give another swipe. An then another, and another until they were focusing all of their attention around playing with your bud with their tongue.
Poking, prodding, and swiping this way and that around your clit and never once letting up now that they had decided to go for it. After going so long without any touch the sudden onslaught was almost to much for you. Tears pooled around your eyes as your body squirmed at Opera's ministrations, pants escaping your mouth every second you were trapped beneath them. Your body was coiling tighter and tighter, a warmth in your core flaring so bright and you were so close –
Opera pulled away suddenly.
The wordless cry you let out at the lack of feeling almost made you actually cry. You supposed it was karma for what you had pulled with Kalego, who you could see watching the both of you with rapt attention from the corner of your eyes, but that didn't mean you felt it was fair. Your hands clutched at Opera's horns in desperation to let you finish. You had been so close and you wanted that orgasm to flush through your body so badly.
Whimpers and pleas fell from your lips until you felt the tongue swipe return, except it was far lower than you had been expecting and your entire body jolted at the sensation, eyes going wide in surprise. Their tongue once again lowered itself to the bottom of your lower lips and ran up its length before giving your clit a little flick at the end.
A low groan left you as their appendage forced your lips open and snuck its way inside. Forcing your core to spread and stretch itself around the muscle. A muscle that was far longer and more prehensile than it had any right to be, you concluded, as it moved this way and that inside of you. Wiggling and writhing and somehow managing to hit every spot that needed to be hit until you were once again a squirming and panting mess above them.
Your mouth opened in a silent scream as warmth rushed through your veins. Your back arched, fingers and toes curling in tandem with the clenching of your cunt, trying its hardest to milk Opera's tongue for something that would never come. Your hands, clutching their horns in what would be a death grip for anyone else, but didn't present even the slightest bit of a challenge to them as they lifted their head back slightly to be able to clean your lowers lips with their tongue. The ruff bumps adding an extra sensation that your body couldn't decide if it was too much or just right.
It was your turn to whimper as Opera moved away, their tongue doing one last swipe up your overly sensitive clit as your body wracked and shivered in the aftermath of your orgasm. You laid there dazed and floating, barely registering as Opera nuzzled into your neck with anything more than mewls. It even took your brain a few moments to realize they were also contorting your body into a different position, not fully realizing until your face was smushed into the pillow, your hands weakly grabbing at the soft fabric. Your back was arched and knees bent so that your arse was presented to the world.
You squeaked in surprise as large hands suddenly grasped your hips and felt something thick swipe along your entrance and heard Opera hiss again along with Kalego's yelp and the hands were gone just as quickly. Daring a glance back you saw Kalego sitting up on his knees behind you, Opera towering behind him with their hand wrapped in his hair and forcing his head back so that his neck was exposed to Opera's sharp claws. Opera's mouth was bent close to Kalego's ear and appeared to be hissing something in his ear. Forcing your way through the fuzzy headspace you caught the end of it, "-t slowly Kalego-kun."
You saw Kalego's throat bob and watched as he tried to nod his agreement before gasping out a "yes senpai." You could only assume Opera had tightened their grip on Kalego's hair to cause the gasp. Suddenly Opera let go and Kalego was forced to catch himself by clutching your hips again, the thin digits grasping harshly into your plump flesh and sharp claws even nicking your skin a little. You couldn't help the little 'oof' you let out as your body was forced forward slightly and the side of your face was smushed against the pillow. Even with your face in this position, you could still glance back behind you, only to widen your eyes at the sight.
Kalego had managed to straighten himself back up, though he was still folded inward slightly, likely due to Opera, who was curled flush around his back. One of their hands was around Kalego's chest fiddling with his nipple and leaving more claw marks around the areola as they circled it. One claw even nicked the nipple itself, leaving blood to well up and drip down his chest. Opera's other hand, however, was wrapped firmly around the based of Kalego's cock. It took a moment to realize that their fingers were also deftly moving, only fully registering when you saw a flash of metal fall before feeling the thump of it hitting the bed.
Opera had removed the cock ring.
You unconsciously bury yourself deeper into the pillow and spread your legs wider at the knowledge, consequently raising your arse higher, catching both of their attention. With half-lidded eyes you watched Opera's hand leave Kalego's nipple, a small amount of blood dripping from their claws before it lowered to out of your view. You gave a small jolt as you felt said claws run down your sensitive slit before spreading you back open again. A shiver ran through your body as you felt run up and down over and over again before you suddenly bit down into the pillow at the feeling of being punctured.
Opera's slim finger squeezed inside of you slowly but surely, your cunt clutching onto it easily and eagerly sucking it in more despite still quivering from what their mouth had down to you just moments before. You mewled in both pain and pleasure at the feeling of oversensitivity as the finger inside you started making a come-hither motion before it was joined by a second. Your hands gripped the pillow harder, your body shivering as Opera's fingers continued spreading you open, and apart. Constantly flicking and moving about, stretching you out and preparing you for what was coming next.
Then just as quickly as they had entered you they were gone. Leaving behind a feeling of complete emptiness in you and half a mind to beg them to come back. To enter you again and take the hollowness away once more. You were even about to open your mouth to do so when your words were replaced with a startled gasp as something far larger drug itself up and down your slit, coating itself in your juices and teasing you with what you wanted.
You turned your head slightly so that you could see behind you better and sent a glare towards the two demons behind you. 'Quit teasing me,' you tried to say with it, 'or I'll take matters into my own hands.' Kalego simply lifted an eyebrow, his mouth smirking in response from around Opera's fingers. It was his turn to you it appeared.
Greedily licking each digit thoroughly to clean up any last traces of you as his hips once more shallowing moved. With a huff you settled back in, knowing Opera wouldn't allow either of you reprieve until they felt their fingers had been cleaned of every last trace of you.
But you had a trick up your non-existent sleeve.
Clutching your hands into fists, you looked back over shoulder with wide eyes and a pout on your lips as you watched Kalego's tongue dance around Opera's sleek fingers, chasing every last drop of your juices that he could. When at last Opera's digits were cleaned of all traces of you and replaced with only Kalego's saliva they withdrew from his mouth, a small stream of spittle stringing itself along to follow the path and leaving you gulping at the sight.
Seeing Kalego suitably distracted, you caught Opera's eyes over his shoulder and watched the almost imperceptible nod. Always five steps ahead that Opera.
As Kalego went to tease you again you forced your hips backwards, just enough pressure that it forced the bulbous head inside and stretched you apart even further that Opera's fingers had. You whimpered at the feeling, but let out a strangled yelp as Kalego snarled and clasped your hips even tighter, claws almost breaking skin as they sunk into the plumpness of your flesh.
You whimpered and whined as Kalego continued to fill you up slowly, your flesh still sensitive from Opera's onslaught earlier, but still greedily wanting every inch he could give you. Suddenly the feline demon was beside you, hand brushing through your hair and whispering reassurances.
You're doing so well.
Look at you take him perfectly.
Such a good girl.
Just a little more to go darling.
Finally, when you felt so full and as if you could take nothing else, Kalego bottomed out. Hips flush to your arse and hands gripping right above your plush hips as he patiently waited for you to get use to him. You shivered and shook at the slightly overwhelming feeling of being stretched so pleasantly, Opera still whispering in your ear and claws untangling the knots in your hair as they brushed through. Eventually after a minute, or perhaps two, you felt your body finally give up its tantrum and give in to receiving more pleasure. Giving your hips an experimental wiggle -- Kalego letting out a moan at the feeling but obediently staying put until either you or Opera gave the okay -- you found nothing but a twinge of pleasure. Doing it once more to make sure you were truly OK, you let out a low moan as you accidentally hit, what you thought was your cervix, dead on. With a nod to Opera, you braced yourself. Opera may be the powerhouses of the group, but Kalego was no slouch either.
And this fact was quickly proven true as Kalego slowly pulled out, your body shivering at the feeling and your core walls clutching him tightly, refusing to give up their prize even when he was almost all the way out and then suddenly you were full again. A gasp tearing from you abruptly as you were pushed forward slightly from the strength of it. You barely had time to wrap your head around it as he set a fast and brutal pace to your innards. All of your and Opera's teasing had clearly affected him as he seemed to desperately chase the both of your climaxes.
You were already both so sensitive that it hadn't lasted long, not that you were disappointed. As much as were willing to have your insides pummled all night long, you could already feel your body tightening again and when Kalego paused for just a second to angle himself to hit that spot inside you, could feel as he found it harder and harder to fit all of himself in you as his knot swelled further until he gripped your hips tightly, and it was certainly going to be bruised in the morning with that strength, and forced all of himself into you – knot and all.
White spots scattered against your vision and your cunt clenched rhythmically around him. A feeling of warmth settled deep into your gut as came inside of you and you couldn't help the groan at the feeling. All you knew was pleasure. Pleasure racing through your veins, pleasure spanning its way from your cunt outwards and toes and fingers clenching at the overwhelmingness of all of it. You were so distracted by your orgasm that you almost didn't notice Kalego's hands moving from your hips to wrap around your shoulders as he laid out his entire body of yours and forced you to lay on your side, tucked into his arms.
Your body racked itself with shivers as the euphoric feelings of an orgasm left you. You were overtly aware of the feeling of being stretched out by Kalego's knot, of his long arms digging into your soft stomach to hold you taunt against his warm body. You jolted a little in both surprise and sensitivity at the feeling of your hair being pushed back from your face. You let out a quiet mewl, as if to say no more – even weakly trying to push the hand away with your own. You sighed in relief as the hand left you alone. In the long run of things, you hadn't done much, but it was amazing how much these two demons could overwhelm you and your body by having you do very little.
So much for human stamina.
Suddenly the hand was back, pushing your hair away again as you groaned in protest only to sigh in relief as it was replaced with a cool cloth. The cloth brushed against you in small gentle strokes, brushing away all the sweat, blood, and other things that had collected on your body. The icy coldness of the cloth felt so good against your overheated skin that if you had the energy you would lean into it. Cracking open your eyes just barely, you could see the blurry image of a pale being with red hair and a black blob moving with them.
Closing your eyes again you settled back in as Opera continued rubbing your body down. Methodically moving up and down your skin with the cold cloth and leaving nothing but a pleasant cooldown in their wake. A soft sigh left you as your body and mind started shutting down and getting closer and closer to falling asleep under Opera's careful movements while being wrapped in Kalego's arms.
You let out a whimper of pain as Kalego suddenly jerked from behind, the resulting movement of the still hard cock inside you causing more pain than pleasure for once. His arms squeezed you tightly and he nuzzled into your neck, whispering apologies into your ear as his hands rubbed in methodical movements around your stomach, tracing random patterns into your skin as he calmed you back down. Under the watchful eye of your two demonic partners your eyes closed for a final time that night, wrapped and filled in your two favourite demons.

All In Your Head
Tumblr media
-Mairimashita! Iruma-Kun! X Reader [Gender Neutral]-
Words: 1,985
Summary: The reader is hit by a hallucination spell when fighting Netherworld beasts. When the reader's eyes land on other demons they can't help but mutter out apologies. Apologies for something that never really happened.
Quick note! This takes place when Opera and the others are attending Babyls!
Posted this on my AO3 as well!
Tumblr media
Staring at the bodies in front of you, you couldn't move. How could you? Your breathing became irregular as you began to cry. Falling to your knees you sobbed their names out, apologizing for what you had done.
Kalego, Shichiro, and Opera. Their names left your mouth as you screamed out apology after apology. How could you!?? Your eyes stayed lingering on Opera, your heart felt like it had cracked into billions of pieces.
You didn't remember what had happened, you only really remember coming into the woods for your daily beast slaying. Did they somehow fall victim to your attacks? They had to, their bodies were all cut up in various ways. Your weapon was thrown a few feet beside you.
But why couldn't you remember? It's not like you normally blacked out. Was this maybe the beast doing? Maybe you were hit with an attack that made your memory fuzzy.
You heard a quiet chirp. Staring ahead you found that Kalego was never really Kalego. It was some type of Netherland beast. Standing up you made your way to it. It has reverted back to its original form as it cried out in misery.
Your eyes were empty and cold as you stood over it. Now that you calmed down slightly you noticed how the blood around you was not red, it was a purple-ish one. Your mind raced back to something you were learning back in Babyls.
Looking over the creature carefully you determined it was a type of bird species. While this certain species, the male birds were able to shape-shift while the female birds sprayed sometype of magic.
Rage filled you, how could you be so stupid? It was never real, you never really killed them. It was just a dumb trick, the damn bird had gotten the best of you.
Even though it was all in your head, you couldn't stop yourself from mumbling out apologies. Ghosting your foot over the bird's neck, you cried harder. Stomping your foot on it repeatedly your apologies were muffled put by the bird's own cries.
After a while it stopped but you continued, trying to get your sadness out. When you finally stopped you went to pick up your weapon. Using your bloodline magic you made it disappear into thin air. It was the weekend so the only place you had to go was home.
Your legs just started to move on their own as your blood-soaked clothes just stuck to your skin. Finally, you had made it home, it was deadly silent.
"Dad must not be home yet..." You thought as you made your way to your room. You entered your own bathroom in your room soon after. Stripping off your clothes you just threw them on the floor.
Turning on the shower you didn't even give it a moment to get warm and just got in. The flakes of blood fell off of you and fell into the drain below.
You couldn't go to school tomorrow. You just couldn't, if you were to see any of them you were sure you would just break down crying.
It was all in your head, you kept telling yourself. It wasn't real it was all just some animal's magic, it was going to be alright.
The shower water only merged with your tears, hiding them as if they weren't even there.
After showering you got out, grabbing a towel that was convincingly there. Picking up your clothes you just threw them away. Quickly brushing your teeth you then made your way to your closet where you picked out your sleeping clothes like normal. Brushed your hair like normal. Laying on your bed you realized you were crying the whole time.
Was this part of that bird's spell? The thought made you angry. You had only seen those 3 male birds, if you were really put under a spell there must have been another one of those disgusting creatures. You vowed to yourself that you would kill every last one of them.
Allowing your eyes to close you fell asleep.
....
You were currently eating breakfast as you had already woken up and gotten ready. You didn't really have the energy to do anything, you didn't even want to wake up. Your father had walked in, turning into his usual egg-like form as he began to shower you in kisses. You would normally laugh or try to push him away but today you just let it happen.
Sullivan found it strange as you hadn't muttered a single word. He called out your name a few times only to have to shake you to get your attention. He noticed how you kept your head low, staring down. Pushing back your chair to get up caused him to back up slightly.
"Y/N sweetheart? Is something the matter? why won't you talk to me!" He cried
You didn't even look at him as you grabbed your school bag and began to make your way to the door. Just about when you reached the front door he put a hand on your shoulder stopping you from moving any forward.
"Ignoring your father is no way to treat me, unacceptable!"
This whole time you had kept your head down not daring to look up at him, well that's what he was thinking. The whole incident with the stupid birds triggered something in your head. For some reason you saw your own father laying down on the floor, his eyes cold and empty as blood surrounded him. You thought you were looking at him the entire time, it was all in your head.
You shoved his hand away and made your way out of the mansion. Leaving Sullivan in shock. He knew something was wrong, were you on your evil cycle? No, you didn't normally act this way when you were. His eyes stayed on you until your figure was nowhere to be seen.
When you finally arrived at school eyes were all on you. By being the honor student it was normal to get this type of attention. Your father had practically made you into a celebrity. The girls and the boys would always whisper about how good-looking you were as you walked passed them.
Making your way to homeroom your hands began to shake slightly as you swallowed a lump in your throat. You shared homeroom with Opera. Currently, as you were walking to your class, your eyes were still glued to the ground and you wanted to cry.
Seeing all these "dead" people was unbearable. In truth, if you got close enough you heard them talking as if they were still alive. That was the only thing keeping your sanity together. You knew it was all in your head, a trick, but for some reason, you thought it was your fault.
As you opened the door to your homeroom class you quickly made your way to your seat. After a few minutes, homeroom had begun. Your teacher began to call names for attendance. Your name was called out once, then twice.
You felt a tap on your shoulder, turning your head slightly you heard the body of the girl next to you speak.
"Say...yo...her..." (Say you're here)
Your name was called out again, opening your mouth it was quickly closed as you felt a presence next to you.
"They're here."
This voice was much more recognizable than the last. Much clearer and easy to hear. You felt a finger poke your cheek. Flinching at the feeling you heard a quiet laugh. You knew it was Opera, your eyes threatened to release the tears you were holding in.
"What's up with you?" The poking action was repeated. The voice you heard was becoming less recognizable as you heard a ringing sound in your ear. "Did I do something to upse.." The voice drowned out in your ear. At some point, the poking stopped.
After a while, you saw how the bodies began to crawl towards the classroom door. Getting up you began to leave. Only for you to be slightly held down. Meeting eyes with Opera you were still looking down. Finally looking at their dead eyes you began to cry again, apology after apology you sobbed.
"Why are you crying?" They spoke in disbelief. You were always a happy person, nothing really ever got the best of you. "Why won't you talk to me? Did I say something you didn't like? I'm sorry if I did."
Hearing Opera apologize to you made you ball your fists. "No, it's my fault you shouldn't apologise." You sobbed. "Please stop looking at me like that! I already said I'm sorry!" You screamed. Your voice echoes in the empty classroom.
Opera furrowed their brows. Was their concerned gaze upsetting you? But they did notice how not once you had looked at them dead in the eyes. They were confused.
Saying one last sorry you shoved past them and made your way to the door leaving Opera speechless. As you closed the door you began to head to your first class of the day. Luckily it was not far so you would still be able to make it in time.
"Y/N!"
You recognized that voice, clear as day. "Shichiro!" You yelled out happily. He had embraced you in a tight hug. Though when you saw him, his eyes were also cold and empty. "Oh" was all you could think. Your smile turned into a thin line making Shichiro send you a questionable look.
"Ugh let go of her you big animal." Kalego huffed. "Come on Y/N let's walk to class together." He said as he continued to walk. He didn't look back to see if you were following him.
Shichiro noticed your hesitation. "Ar....you....alright?" (Are you alright?) His voice beginning to drown out in your ears as well.
Placing your hands over your ears you stopped thinking for a second. You took deep breaths as you tried to calm yourself down. "I'm sorry I'm not feeling well."
"Do...yo...nee...the...urse?" (Do you need the nurse?) Shichiro asked
"No I don't need the nurse, I just need to talk to my father. Don't worry about me I'll be fine. You guys go ahead I wouldn't want you to be late." Walking away quickly you made your way to your father's office.
You knocked on the door before heading in. As soon as you stepped in your father jumped up from his seat excited to see you.
"Ah! Y/N! How nice of you to come to see me! Did you get lonely without me?" He chuckled as he hugged you tight. "Don't worry about class! How about you stay here with me and keep me company from all these papers I have to sign!"
Looking down at you he halted from speaking. Pushing you off of him just a bit he noticed the tears in your eyes. His hands trembled slightly as he freaked out. "Hey, what's wrong! Is it something to do with what happened this morning?"
Hugging him again you held him tightly. Your quiet sniffles fill the room. "Dad I want to go home. I don't want to be here anymore."
"Of course but you have to tell me what's wrong. Did someone hurt you in any way?" He asked, his tone changed. He was talking much more gently so as to not scare you away.
"Dad...I...don't know what to do. I can't face anyone."
"What do you mean?"
You stayed silent. You didn't mean to but you did. From the moment you walked into his office, you couldn't hear anything. Not even the ringing sound from earlier. It scared you truly.
The embrace with your father only radiated a slight warmth. But it wasn't enough. Would you stay like this forever? The thought of it scared you. "Why can't I hear you, dad? Please just take me home.." You whispered, your voice trembling with every word you spoke out loud.

Welcome to Demon School x Reader
How they protect your drink in a bar
Characters: Balam, Kalego, Opera, Iruma, Clara, Asmodeus
💛- read as platonic
Warnings?: Drinking... obvi, kinda mentions it in the title XD
Tumblr media
Balam
- Holds the cup with two hands and has it close to his chest
- Glances down to the drink every now and then while making sure no one's hands come close to your cup
- Very unlikely anyone would try something, Balam would scare them off pretty easily by just standing there
- Your drink is safe with him :)
Tumblr media
Kalego
- Is a little stiff at first when you leave him with your drink
- He didn't know you trusted him like that, but once you make that clear he won't betray that trust, keeps the drink close
- Anyone that comes near will be scared away with a glare of his
- Your drink will be protected
Tumblr media
Opera
- They're a great pick, top 3 to look after your drink
- Will keep your drink on the table their sitting in front of but will move your drink closer to themself
- Anyone that gets close will get wacked by thair tail and if worse comes to worse they’ll beat them up
- 100/100 will keep your drink protected
Tumblr media
Iruma
- Never lets the drink out of his sight and for extra protection he places a hand over top of it
- Continues to converse with his friends and if some stranger happens to come over, there is 0 chance Iruma will let them touch the cup
- Drink is safe and sound
Tumblr media
Clara
- Drinks it
- Nah, but in all seriousness if you give her an important task such as look after your drink she will protect it
- Holds it close to her will two hands and glares at everyone that passes by
- Drink is 100% safe with her
Tumblr media
Azz
- Will leave your drink on the table counter but will pull it closer to him
- Glares at anyone walking by while sipping on his own drink
- If anyone suspicious comes over attempting anything Azz will threaten them with fire and scare them off
- Your drink will be safe

Dating Headcanons • Mairuma Adults
Hi hi! These are just some headcanons of what I think it'd be like to date any of these adults from Mairuma!
A/N: I put a spoiler warning before Baal and Mephisto because not everyone has read the manga, I reminded myself
Characters included: Naberius Kalego, Balam Shichirou, Opera, Robin Bars, Orias Oswell, Amuryllis Asmodeus, Baal, Mephisto
※ Naberius Kalego
Honestly you probably had to confess to him at least thirty different times before he even considered it
Not because he wasn't interested, but because of his family and their rules
If you/your oc are/is a human, he'd be even more reluctant because of a cErTaIn SoMeOnE cough narnia cough
He'd insist on keeping things as private as possible and would never let you attend any big events like Deviculums alone, even if he had to send someone else with you, he simply cannot allow that
Especially after the Deviculum incident
If you want to go out in public, expect him to act crankier than usual just so no one thinks anything is up
While he does feel bad about keeping your relationship hidden, he does try to make it up to you by being a bit softer during your private moments
He would never gift you flowers, but only because he'd gift you cacti instead
None of his own, of course
He makes sure you're educated on the proper care for cacti before he buys you your first one
He is not one for physical touch, but you might get by with hand holding while he listens to music, or putting your head in/sitting in his lap while he's reading, though the latter is less likely to happen
He does like it when you lean your head on his shoulder though
HATES letting you see him in his fluffego form because honestly? He's embarrassed that you find him cute like that, and he can't stand the thought of letting you pet his supposedly otherworldly soft fur
Will PROTEST to doing anything with Opera nearby, never visits the Sullivan estate while Opera is there
Lowkey a little bit of a romantic though if you think about it
In quiet moments, he might recite a poem to you but "It's in this book and I simply thought it was pleasant," or "I just thought you'd like to hear it."
A.K.A. Tsundere behavior
If for any reason you spend the night at his home, he'd make tea for the two of you and just not say anything about it
Secretly likes his hair being brushed
※ Balam Shichirou
He's just a darling
A sweetheart
Doting and caring, but he tries not to be overbearing
Heh, that rhymes
I like to think that demons don't have the same kind of "rituals" that humans have for relationships, so they don't really think to go on dates or anything like that
But Balam does the next best thing and takes you out on picnics every now and then
Probably to somewhere that's more and more breathtaking every time
If you're human, he'd worry about you going into public alone, or really doing much of anything alone
If you're human, he'd also take you to places you haven't seen or want to see in the Netherworld
We know he's a big-time toucher, can't keep his grippers to himself, but he LOVES it when or if you share his skinship
If you constantly find your hand resting in his, or on his arm, or if you naturally gravitate to sit on his lap he just turns into a giant mold of jello
He also particularly loves it when you play with his hair
Braid it, brush it, put flowers in it, he doesn't care
Give him little bows for hairclips and some space buns. Make him kawaii, he'll love it no matter what
He'd bring you little gifts like flowers that all have different meanings, and that can be useful even after they've wilted
They can be dried and used for various things, teas, spices, medicines, you name it
Oh, but he's definitely going to help you figure them all out, so you don't get anything mixed up
If you're human, he'd love it if you were to teach him about your language and culture, and just yap about the differences between Netherworld creatures and Human Realm animals
You cannot escape his nesting habits
Even if you get him to sleep on a normal bed, he still sleeps like Big Bird
You could indulge him in many ways like this; use his legs as a pillow and lay in front of him, curl up between his legs, or sit on his thigh and let him curl around you
He also likes it if you find fascination in his wings and touch them
※ Opera
Opera would be a loving little shit
They would be so happy to be with you that they'd always give you a smile when you're around, only to turn back around to Sullivan and (ㆆ_ㆆ) at him again
Please let them make food and tea for you, it makes their little kitty heart so happy
I feel like they wouldn't be very fond of cuddles to a certain point
They don't particularly seem to care about their gender, but I feel like they'd like it to remain a mystery
Hugs from the front and hugs from the back, side, you name it, are fine, but anything that might require being a little too close they might refuse
They do love to wrap their tail around you though
Sometimes they'll even poke your face or tickle your neck with the end of their tail if you're close enough
They also like to play harmless pranks on you
Like whoppie cushion kind of pranks, where it's just a moment of surprise and then laughter
They'd fall for you even more if you were to pull some harmless pranks randomly too
They'd pull a prank on you, and you'd call their name, they'd only respond with a "You know you love me," or a "Yes, my dear?" And it's game over
They don't have much time between their duties and other assignment to Bablys, but they'd love it if you were to just hang around in the rooms that they're working on or even help a bit, though they'd rather do the cleaning themselves
You'd have to beg to use Opera's kitchen, and they agree to let you cook or bake with them under the condition that you only do whatever they tell you to, especially if you're human
They have nightmares of the time Iruma and Amari tried to make cookies
They'd also do things like kiss you and then run off somewhere
※ Robin Bars
This little ball of energy has more love for you than what fits in his body
He doesn't let his small stature stop him from showering you with affection, oh no
If anything, he's more determined to show you that he can love you regardless
He'll climb up on you, or more likely just jump on you and cling to you like Clara to Sabnok and shower you with his affections and kisses
He likes to give you whatever gifts he thinks you'd like. A cool rock, a pretty bouquet, he'll even shoot an arrow into the wall next to you with a love letter on the tip of it
You bet this man is gonna show you off to big-sis Bachiko and the Chief. There is no escape
Not that you're really complaining
He also loves to cook for you, and while he usually only cooks veggie dishes, it's so good that you really can't complain
Both good for your taste buds and good for your health
At the end of the day, when he's all tuckered out, he goes into koala mode and just clings to you until he falls asleep
※ Orias Oswell
This motherfucker can either be the most charming man you've ever had the pleasure to be with, or he can be an equally as charming gaming gremlin who wraps you up on his lap with a blanket while he grinds away
When he has his ability activated, he's always got an arm around your waist or shoulder, and if he can't do that for some reason, he's holding your hand or touching you in some way
He's also gonna do his darndest to make you laugh, because by Devi does he love your laugh
He'd be the type to dip you in his arms just to see you get flustered
And then kiss you just to make sure you knew he loved you
He'd bring you flowers and gifts, and oh? Is that a gold ring in his pocket with 24k diamonds embedded in it? How lucky of him! He gives it to you
He's also such a flirt when his ability is active
He'd compliment you every chance he gets, and he'd pull no punches for any one liners he can hit you with
Bonus points for him if it makes you laugh
You might even earn a blush from him if you manage to hit him with a good one too
When his ability is off though, he asks that you forget he said ANY of those cheesy lines
Tell him no, he'll blush and hide his face with his hoodie
Pull it off and kiss him? You might have to pick him up off the floor, embarrassed asf
He's still utterly stupidly in love with you though so once he comes to his senses, you won't be able to escape the intense cuddle session he's about to start
I like to think that he's a lot more affectionate when his ability is off in the sense that he's down to do absolutely whatever you want to do
Play against him in a multiplayer game? You got it
Cuddle for four hours until you fall asleep? You betcha
Play with his hair and ask him to put on a dress? No but at least you got his hair done
I think he especially likes it when you cuddle up to him while he's playing games, whatever position you're in, as long as you're close, he's happy
Also, he'd call you his lucky charm or his little star
He won't say it as often when his ability is off, but he will say it in those quiet, heartfelt moments
I bet no matter his ability on or off, he likes to look at the stars with you, and if you happen to know about the stars in the Netherworld, he'd be all too happy to listen to information that he probably already knows
He'd particularly love kissing you in any manner under the stars, especially if the moons are visible, and his reason is because you look amazing under the light of the moon
※ Amuryllis Asmodeus
I'm running with the assumption that the father of Alice and his two little sisters is not in the picture, as I don't recall him being mentioned in the manga at all
Amu imo would probably like someone who can match her in strength at least, and I'm fairly sure she's Zayin (7) or Chet (8), maybe possibly even Tet (9) since she is one of the Thirteen Crowns
She would be just as lovey as she is with her children, and Iruma...
She'd honestly probably want someone who would cook for her too and help her do housework (if the family's security devil doesn't do it himself)
She'd love it if you made tea for her
And I'm gonna be honest, she would love some praise
I can't really see her being this cutesy lovey dovey "Oh don't leave me darling" type demon when she made a stray dog run with his tail between his legs if you know what I mean... cough narnia cough
Also, this is so unrelated, but Narnia is such a cool name, moving on
She'd be lovey dovey after you've earned it from her
She would like to relax with you. Maybe in a lavish bath or having a spa day
She'd like to be on the receiving end of gifts, but she'd be the one to set up most "dates" or outings as I feel demons would call them
She'd probably also call you something like Honey, or Sweetie, maybe even Sugar
Spoiler Warning ahead for Baal and Mephisto

※ Baal
First, idk why I put him in here, I've only thought about kissing his stupid face maybe four or five times?
But anyway, if he truly likes you, he'd be kind of a gentleman
Like opening doors for you or pulling out chairs for you
Bring you flowers every now and then and maybe chocolates or candies if he finds something interesting
He's kinda cocky though so I feel like at first your relationship is nearly one sided
Like he likes you he just doesn't like like you yet
Until that is that you blow his mind a few times by making him realize how boring and kinda lonely it is without you around
And when he realizes that he misses your voice and your face, and your occasional touch if you're so brave
He just realizes one day like 'Oh shit, I kinda do like them, don't I?'
And then he's all game
If you're leaving for the day/night and he won't see you till the next day or even some time later, he won't let you leave until he gets a kiss in on you
If he hears Atori and the other shits talk about you, he sends them a cold smile that makes 'em shut up real fast
Maybe I just like bad boys, I dunno, don't look at me
He's not super big on cuddling either, but he does like to hug you from behind, and when you're alone in his little throne room thing, he likes to have you sit on his lap like his evil little sidekick
Might even get you a little crown just for fun
I also have this weird thought that he's got an aesthetic running for him that he just simply does not want to drop, so if or when he gets you gifts, he gets you things like lightning-shaped jewelry and clothes that almost kinda maybe match his outfit that the has on
No, he doesn't want to match with you why in Hells would he wanna do that?
He loves matching couples items and you know because he gave you a gold lightning bolt bracelet and he mysteriously has a shiny new matching one on his wrist now
Also he likes putting his hand on your thigh if you're sitting with him on his throne
Makes him feel like you're not going anywhere
I bet he's also mayhaps just a bit insecure about your relationship, especially if you're more good-hearted because he does have evil plans that are being plotted and you're just along for the ride, so what if you ditch him after you find out what he's planning?
That's also another reason why he like his couples matching items, because it shows that you're his, or at least that you're in this together
He does the opposite though if you're note so pure-hearted and indulge in his plans, it just makes him fall harder
※ Mephisto
CLOWN
Not to the point where it's annoying but like, to the point where this newly appointed Thirteen Crown whose job is protect the Netherworld and help decide it's future is making you wonder why anyone chose him for the position
But affectionately
He's not exactly against PDA, he does like to wrap his arm around your shoulder or waist while in public, but he prefers to keep the more intimate things behind closed doors
If you're cool with it though, this clown will randomly leave big, wet kisses on your cheek and just carry on with his day
And surprise visits from him stop being surprises when you notice that he shows up literally every other day because he wants to see you
He's a big baby too
He wants to be the little spoon most of the time and he likes it more when you hold him, but he'll never say no to you sitting in his lap with his arms around your waist and his face buried in your hair or your neck
Yet at the same time I feel like he's the type to just randomly start tickling you too if you're just sitting there doing nothing but cuddling
I think he'd also be a bit of a gamer, but moreso board games
He'd fucking destroy you at Twister or Monopoly, even Trouble or Sorry, Parcheesi, you name it
He probably sucks at Uno though
Skip Bo too
OFF TRACK
He'd like to cook for you, but I don't think he can cook all that well
Like, certain dishes could be served at a six star restaurant, and others you wouldn't even feed to a hellhound
He's also the kind of clown to slurp noodles with you Lady and the Tramp style
He'd tell corny almost dad jokes randomly when you're alone
"Where do bad rainbows go?"
"Where?"
"To prisim. It's a light sentence, but it gives them time to reflect."
"... Oh my Devi-"
And he'd say it with a straight face too
He'd like to get a ring on your finger just because he thinks it'd look good
He bites
I think writing this has awoken me to the possibilities of Baal and Mephisto but I'm not certain I'd be able to handle having any more fictional men on my mind right now. I don't think it's healthy

The pebble
.... so you've somehow, someway have done the equivalent of a marriage proposal without realizing it. To Balam of all demons. Who accepted it.
One part of your brain was still in the wait, what just happened phase. But another part was running around hands in the air and screaming. "YES, YES, YES!" And course your greedy side was singing. "Mine, mine, mine, he's all mine!"
Overall, no regrets. You could live with this. In fact, he accepted, so no take backs, no returns. To think is all started with a shiny rock you found.
*earlier that day*
You had just been wandering the gardens, nothing really on your mind. That's when you spotted something glittery from the corner of your eye. There, by the edge of one of the ponds, was a pebble. You knelt down and carefully picked it up. How pretty!
It was maybe half the size of your palm and somewhat smooth except for the rough edging on its left side. The color was deep blue. With specks of purple, and was that silver along the jard edge? It reminded you of something.
You stood up and lifted it to the light, getting an even better view of the reflective surface. It was so colorful and so soothing to fiddle with in your hand. Releasing a pleased hum, you pocketed your find and walked back inside.
Zipping down the hall, you made your way to the den where the children were currently doing their homework. You laughed when Clara and Lied tackled you whining about the piles of work they still had. You cooed and petted both their heads before nudging them off you.
"Okay. Tell me what you don't understand and we'll go from there." Soon, all the kids were huddled tail and limbs around you as you helped with homework and talked about upcoming projects. How comfy this place felt now that it was full of life just about every day.
"Is Balam-sensei coming over later?" Iruma asked egarly as he tenderly held one of the books his teacher had gifted to him. You beamed and reached out to pinch his cheek. "Course he is how can he not want to spend time with such cute students!" Making several of the kids laugh.
"You two have been getting along well, haven't you?" Giggled Elizabetta, her tail swinging playfully back and forth. You narrowed your eyes at her for a moment before flicking her forehead. "Ow." You watched her pout for a minute before smiling.
"You're getting cheeky, aren't you. That's what you get for taking after your mentor." Playfully wagging a finger at her. "But it's no surprise that Balam-sensei is head over heels for you. He practically has hearts in his eyes whenever he sees you." Lied piped up, and you ruffled his hair as you tried to hide your embarrassment.
Of course, more of your kids chimed in, ganging up on you. "Yeah, yeah, super lovey dovey." Pops up an excited, Clara. "You two do make a lovely couple." Alice nodding happily. "I wouldn't mind another parent. Balam-sensei is cool and very nice to us." Jazz says casually, leaning against your shoulders, preventing any escape.
You spotted opera and Sullivan peering into the room mischief in their eyes. You knew exactly where the kids got the idea now. You mouthed 'traitors', and they quickly disappeared.
So this is how you would die. Out of pure embarrassment. There was a knock on the door. Oh, thank devi. You scrambled up and out of the pile. "I've got it! I've got it! Nobody else gets up!" Dashing to the front door. Yanking the door open, you saw the Demon in question.
He reached out and cupped your face gently so that he didn't hurt you. "Are you alright? Your face is red? You didn't have to run. I could have waited." Carefully turning your face before lifting you up for a closer look.
"No, no, I'm fine, just embarrassed is all," you laugh nervously as you attempt to wave off his concern. Looking at him face to face, you couldn't help but recall the conversation from before, causing a darker blush to spread.
"The kids will be happy to see you." You quickly changed the subject. "Their in the den." He cradled you to his chest, and you relaxed. It was your favorite spot, after all. Making his way inside, you avoided the kids' gazes and just listened to them interact with Balam-San.
You couldn't help but stare at him as your thoughts roamed freely. He was so sweet. A calming presence in the wild hellish world you now lived in. He had helped you and all your kids more than once. He was strong, an unyielding shield that protected all he stood before.
Honestly, you doubted you could have survived long without his assistance. Thankfully, Opera had the foresight to introduce the two of you. You smiled at the memory.
*flashback to adoration your pov*
You hadn't known much, well actually you knew nothing about the world you found yourself now living in. But that moment when you turned around and saw him staring at you kneeling in the entryway. Well, the way he looked at you made you feel special. You felt like you were some kind of artwork in his eyes, a long-lost mater piece brought to light.
His size alone should have intimidated you. Kneeling, he was still a little taller than you. But maybe it was the fact that he was so lost in thought that made you approach carefully. One step then two. Till you stood before him in the light waiting for him to realize your flaws.
That moment never seemed to come. In fact, it was harder to tell with his wild hair and the mask that covered half his face, but you could have sworn he was crying. He was crying! What a silly demon. You couldn't help but laugh.
You remember what Opera had briefly mentioned to you before meeting him. "He's been wanting to meet a human his entire life. He'll probably overwhelm you with questions and constant touches, but it's doubtful He'll ever harm you." The words brining comfort to you in that moment.
"I hear you've been waiting a long time for me. Is that true?" You prompted, watching as his head bobbed rapidly. 'So pretty.' You remember thinking in that moment seeing the bright colored eyes reflecting your image. "You know something?" You teased out, watching him as he subconsciously leaned forward.
You brought yourself closer, too, and it felt safe. Surprisingly safe and warm as you made sure he was making eye contact. "I think you and I are going to get along just fine. Please take good care of me." You giggled. Reminded of him stuttering out his reply. "O-of course."
*end flashback*
The happiness in those eyes radiant like starlight. You shake yourself out of the memory to realize you had been left alone with Balam. How he was still holding you as he read a book. Seeming content. His heartbeat is slow and calm.
"Mmmh, so they all left us, huh?" You teased. He chuckled. "It seems so." You shifted only to feel the weight in your pocket. Oh! The pebble. That gave you an idea.
"Hold out your hand." You instructed as you sat up straighter and pulled out your shiny treasure. That's what it reminded you of, Balam himself. He held out his hand curiosity in his eyes.
Carefully, you placed it in his palm and smiled. "It reminded me of you. It's so pretty. I'm sure you'll like it!" The gargoyle could only stare at it with wide eyes as you smiled confidently. "A-are you sure?" He seemed to stumble.
"Of course, I'm sure! It's almost the exact same shade as your eyes! I'll show you wait there while I get a mirror!" You jumped off of him and rushed to the bathroom where you recalled setting down a hand mirror this morning.
**Balams pov**
... his brain was not functioning correctly. In his palm, he held a saints tear. One of the rarest minerals in the netherworld. And to top it all off, you just handed it to him. Saying that, he resembled it! A bright red blush covered his face, thankfully contained by his mask.
How did you know this was how gargoyles courted?!?! Presenting a simple pebble was usually how it went, but you were giving him a priceless gift! The darker the color, the more expensive they were. Hesitantly, he rubbed the near smooth surface. A courting gift.
What was his human thinking??? They needed to make a nest with plenty of room for the kids and to ask Sullivan for his blessing. Wait! Did humans even build nests? He'd have to ask iruma! He sped up the stairs and opened the door to said boys' room. "Iruma!"
Big blue eyes stared up at him innocently, unaware of the large demons' internal crisis. "Yes, Balam-sensei?" He asked. "H-how do hu-humans court? Do you build nests? What should be given in return?" The teenagers' eyes bulged in shock at the overwhelming amount of questions.
"Well, I mean, I thought you were already courting Balam-sensei. That is well. You two are always cuddling and playing with each other's hair. You always eat together. And you help them with all of us even though you don't have to, and they never once asked you. Umm, humans don't really build nests, but we like comfort, and they always seem to be comfortable with you or in your vines, so I don't think it's a problem. As for gifts, um, most do jewelry, but Grandpa gives them lost of jewelry, so o don't think that will work. Maybe something handmade?"
He found himself listening with rapid attention nodding egarly for more information, but before he could ask anything else he heard. "Balam? Shichirou? Where did you go?" Panic entered his mind he hadn't said yes yet! What if they thought he ran off!??!
Zooming back down the stairs, he barely stopped behind you. "Oh, there you are! Look at you. You have your poor feathers all ruffled up. Such a shame they're so lovely, too." As they reached out and attempted to settle zome of his neck fluff, an idea came to mind.
**you currently**
You were momentarily startled when balam lifted you up and set you down on the couch. He knelt down so that both of you were of closer height. He seemed nervous, and you weren't sure why. Taking a deep breath, he took hold of both your hands.
"I-I never thought that there wo-would be an-anyone that wanted me. I'm not ex-exactly a catch by demon standards." You reared up about to fight anyone who had ever said anything, but he squeezed your hands, getting you to focus again.
"But I am so glad. Extatic that you would gift me something so precious." You blinked... was he talking about the rock? "I promise I will always cherish it, and I accept your offer in courting." Oh my devi, he was talking about the rock. How did he think this was a courting gift???
"I ca-can't offer you much in return, but I -I hope these will do for now." He pulled out a few of his own feathers and slowly weaved them into your hair. Tears began to swell in your eyes. Oh! "Perfect." You whispered in awe.
Throwing your arms around him tightly. "It's perfect! Don't get me anything else! I'll be so mad if you even try." You croaked out on the verge of sobbing. A pleasant rumble escaped the demons large chest as he held you against him.
You snickered for a moment. "What is it?" He asked you. "Ah, I just thought that this means Kalego-San will have to come over more if he wants to see you." More laughter spilled out, and the gargoyle also tried to muffle his own laughs at the looks of horror and distain his colleague was sure to have when given the news.
He watched as you pleasantly played with the feathers now decorating your hair. ☆one perfect pebble, just one humble stone. But oh, what a stone can do~ it means that I have one love forever and one love alone. A now and forever with you~☆ You kissed his temple as he stared at you in amazement.
"Does this mean we get to call Balam-sensei dad now?" Both of you jumped startled by Soi's question. Sneaky child. You could see the others on the stairs looking hopeful. You returned your gaze to shichirou, who appeared to be swelling with pride and embarrassment.
"Were kinda a package deal. You want one of us, you gotta take all of us." The playful smile on your lips as you nudge him to answer. "I'd be honored." The words coming out with reverence and joy. Leading to a large 'family' cuddle pile.

For the Sake of a Smile (v.2) Chapter Five
Title: For the Sake of a Smile (Revised)
Overall Rating: Mature (18+)
Chapter Rating: E for Everyone? Some violence, but not much
Trigger warnings: Nothing beyond the child abuse hinted in the series, though we do explore the consequences a bit more.
Main Pairing: Balam Shichiro/Reader
Summary: Hell on earth was your motto for your job. Granted, you were pretty sure earth really was hell, considering the shit you had seen in your life. And the fact your coworker was a child.
A child named Suzuki Iruma, in fact. A kid who’s life was decidedly worse than yours, but yet he smiled despite everything. It wasn’t long after meeting him that you decided you’d do a lot for his smile. Including summoning a literal demon and signing your soul away.
But as it turns out, hell (The Netherworld, actually) was a lot better than living on earth. Demons were more humane than a lot of humans you knew.
And Iruma’s smile wasn’t the only one that would change your life.

Walter park was in ruins by the time you and Sullivan arrived. Three beasts continued their rampage amongst the wreckage, easily towering over everything else. A red dragon, a blue minotaur, and then a yellow rodent-like monster. None of which you had read about in your studies of your new home so far.
“Where do you think Iruma is?” You asked, clinging to Sullivan as he flew closer. Despite carrying you carefully in his arms, all traces of the genial old man you were beginning to call 'dad' were gone, leaving a serious persona you presumed his enemies had to face.
“Usually I can sense him, but those monster’s mana are making it difficult,” He answered, before explaining further without prompt. “Those are summoned beasts, with mana stemming from multiple individuals. It's like a fog of mana covering the whole park. making it hard to pinpoint anything from this distance. Especially someone whose own, natural, mana is as weak as Iruma’s.”
“Damn it,” You growled, clutching at the fur of his suit. “What are we supposed to do then?”
“Well, I can pick out Opera, Kalego, and Balam. They're high-ranking enough that their power stands out amongst the fog.” He sighed, “And of course, each of them are near one of the monsters. I’m confident in each of their abilities…”
“Balam!” You interrupted, remembering he had texted you stating Iruma’s phone had died. Maybe Iruma was with him!
Sullivan was silent for a moment, no doubt contemplating your words and his next actions before sighing. “Okay. But, if you’re going to be near those things…” Something shifted, and it wasn’t just Sullivan as he suddenly descended. You recognized magic swelling around you, wrapping around you like a cocoon before black marks appeared along your body, stinging like a bad sunburn as they appeared on your skin. “There. That should keep you safe.”
You studied at the harsh, sharp lines, twisting and curling around your limbs, marked by runes in open patches. “Please don’t tell me these are permanent,” You groaned. Yes, there was alway that rebellious desire for a tattoo, but not like this. And definitely not across your whole body.
“They’ll fade after a few hours,” Sullivan reassured as he touched down on the ground, helping you to stand on the broken concrete. “It’s old magic I learned from a friend, that someday I hope to teach you since Runes are one the few types of magic that humans can use. After all, it’s how you first summoned me.” He smiled slightly before pointing towards the red dragon rampaging not too far away “Now, Balam is near the carmine dragon. I’m going to go towards the panther rat since that’s where Opera is.”
“Wait!” You grabbed his hand as he went to take off again. “You really think it’s safe to split up like this?”
“I wouldn’t put you in danger if I didn’t know you could handle it,” He reassured with a soft smile, patting your cheek. “You’re well defended, but who’s to say Iruma has that same guarantee?”
His words stirred that fire in your heart, and you let go with a firm nod. You could trust Sullivan. Besides, you weren’t completely sure that Iruma was with Balam, or if he was with one of the other groups and Balam was just relaying the message.
Hopefully, if he wasn't with Balam, he'd be with Opera.
You weren't sure if it was the magic or your frantic desire to see your adopted son safe and sound that gave you the boost of energy. You ran across the debris, the path becoming more rocky and treacherous the closer you got to the rampaging dragon. You soon met demons fleeing the other way, though thankfully none tried to stop you.
"--children, can you believe that?"
"--not even their own, why?"
"--crazy, all of them. I mean--"
"--blue hair--"
The last comment made you skid to a stop and turn towards the demon who had overheard. "Wait! What about blue hair?!"
The demon looked startled by your intense expression. "Uh! Well! A group of children were trapped, and some boy with blue hair swore he was going to rescue them! Even though it has nothing to do with him!"
That was Iruma, alright. And you didn't know if you were proud, worried, angry, or all three at the same time. "Where?" You snapped, grabbing his shirt.
He pointed shakily towards the dragon, and you continued your run without another word. It wasn't long before you were caught in its massive shadow as the dragon towered less than a few meters away, still causing chaos without an apparent target.
Then a blast lit up the sky, making you falter and instinctually cower. You glanced up at the sky, stomach turning as you recognized the blond and pink haired demons in the sky above you.
Sabnock and Asmodus.
And wherever Az was, there was Iruma.
"Az!" You screamed up at the pair. "Sabnock!"
You not only garnered the two students' attention but also the dragon's. It roared as it twisted towards you, its claw a blur as it swept towards you.
Oh. Fuck. You didn't know what else to do but brace for the inevitable, hands protecting your head. The massive paw struck like a raging bear.
A bear you somehow withstood. Knees shaking, arms trembling as you felt its claw press down, but the only thing that buckled was the concrete itself. The runes burned, making you hiss, but it was minor compared to what it would have been like otherwise.
Like being squashed to death. Instead, you were stuck at a standstill, sandwiched between the ground and the dragon.
Could you push it back?
You screamed with determination as you pushed against its scaley claw. You didn't exactly push the dragon back, but shifted the claw enough it slammed to the ground beside you causing a tremor to shake the ground.
The dragon apparently didn't like the fact it was unable to crush you, and roared again…except now its mouth was filling with white-hot flames. Even as Asmodeus and Sabnock tried to distract its attention away from you, their familiars now by their side, you feared you had pissed it off too much.
Would the runes protect you against that? Or would they fail? You looked for shelter, but everything nearby had been reduced to piles that had no place for you to hide.
The fire crackled like a raging wildfire, giving you a brief warning to brace one more time for the inevitable.
Except there was a gust of wind instead of fire, The flames roared around you, casting off intense heat but otherwise harmless, the familiar swell of mana casting over you much like Sullivan's. You opened your eyes, and saw nothing but a dark shadow before you.
Eventually the blast faded away, letting you see more than a shadow as Balam glanced back at you, his expression indiscernible.
"Hi," You breathed out, more than a little stunned by the impressive display. "T-thank you."
“What are you doing here?” He finally spoke, sounding frantic and worried. “How? Why! Do you realize how dangerous it is right now?”
“And you think I could stay away when Iruma is in danger?” You shot out of reflex moments before the dragon roared. You could barely move as the dragon fired a blast once more, but Balam's reflexes proved quick enough as he pulled you close, a cocoon of magic wrapping around you the same way his arms were.
“I suppose right now isn’t the best time to argue,” He admitted, barely audible over the flames despite his mask brushing against your hair.
“Agreed," You replied, fighting the invasive thought from being so close. Instead of being warm, he felt nice and cool, shading you from the heat.
“Now that the children are safe, I’ll step in,” He continued, “but you should take cover with the boys over in that building.”
“Sounds like a plan, just…” You paused, looking up at him, meeting his gaze. "Be careful, please." You wanted to blame the adrenaline for the odd thumping of your heart as he gently touched your face. It was a very brief moment, yet felt far more significant than any touches in the past.
“You too,” He finally spoke as the flames died. “Now, run.”
You didn’t look back as you sprinted towards the half-demolished building. Your heart lightened when you saw Iruma waving at you. Him, Agares, and half a dozen small kids meeting you near the entrance.
“Mom!” Iruma crashed into you with the same intensity you crashed into him. “What are you doing here?! Are you okay?!”
“Am I okay? Are you okay!” You pulled away to check for any injuries, though found nothing more than some mild scratches. The boy did have inhuman reflexes at dodging, but it still felt like a heavy boulder was lifted from your chest as he gave you a smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He said, glancing towards the others. "We're all okay, I think."
Once you were satisfied he was unharmed, your attention moved to the other kids. Agares was fine, if looking mildly annoyed that he had to share his cloud with the young children. All of which looked terrified, still covered in dirt, a few scrapes but nothing serious. Still, that maternal instinct urged you to clean the dirt off their faces. “Are you kiddos good?”
“Yeah,” They each sniffed, nodding their heads. You smiled reassuringly as you fussed over each one, checking for yourself for any injuries. More than a few ended up silently clinging to you, desperate for a reassuring touch.
"Iruma!" You looked up to see Asmodus and Sabnock approaching, the taller demon looking like he had taken the brunt of one other dragon's fire attacks. Iruma tackled Asmodus in a hug, and you shifted your attention to the golden haired demon.
"Are you two okay?" You asked, wishing you knew more than the basic first aid for small cuts and minor burns. Or maybe just first aid for demons. You weren't sure if what you knew applied to them, considering every human you knew would be near death looking like Sabnock, but the teen was (mostly) upright and grinning.
"Yeah, we're fine!"
"Liar! Neither of us can barely walk!" Asmodus shouted from behind him, still holding Iruma tight. "Let alone use any kind of magic right now!"
"Yeah, but we're alive aren't we? And so is Ms. Suzuki and the kids Iruma saved! And we looked absolutely cool while doing it!"
Relief washed over you in a brief moment as the two bickered, and you could see Iruma's smile reflect the same emotion. Agares groaned and grumbled about the two being too loud, and the children just watched with stars in their eyes, as if meeting real super heroes.
Though, in a way, they were. All of them.
And you couldn't be any prouder.
The earth rumbled again, cutting your thoughts short. You feared the red dragon had set its sights on your group again. But instead, a second dragon now stood guard between the shelter and the scarlet beast. The new dragon looked more like a creature that dragged itself from the depths of a swamp than an actual dragon, with a mane like seaweed from head to tip of its tail.
And, barely able to be seen, was Balam hanging down from vines that seemed to make up the dragon, using his clawed feet to hang on.
"Is that Professor Balam’s familiar?" Iruma asked with the same awe you felt.
"Actually, I think that’s Nigyul," Asmodeus answered. "I've heard rumors that Professor Balam had a Nigyupnil dragon as a pet named Nigyul. Nigyupnils are related to the nigi-nigi weed, except they grow with mana instead of water. They're nearly impossible to find, and I admit, until now I thought the Professor taming one was just a rumor."
And until now, you hadn't really seen Balam as the demon he truly was. After all, he was so nice, so kind, so eager to learn, and hardly seemed to want to harm anything or anyone.
But as you watched the two dragons fight - Nigyul easily overpowering the carmine dragon - you realized that there was definitely a powerhouse behind his usual demeanor.
But, also, you realized that you weren't quite in a safe place as Nigyul wrapped vines into the other dragon, causing it to begin to thrash violently. The surrounding buildings shook as if an earthquake had hit, rubble once more raining down. "Let's get out of here before something happens," You urged, helping Sabnock despite his reluctance.
You expected the tussle to last a while, especially as the carmine dragon used its fire breath. Except the fire seemed to pass over Nigyul as harmlessly as it passed over you and Balam earlier. Nigyul shaked off any embers that managed to catch its mane before he lunged forward, tackling the carmine dragon and digging in his claws, teeth, and vines.
The carmine dragon's roar of pain was choked off a thick bundle of vines. Its massive maw snapped at the air, claws pinned to keep it from scratching at the noose. It took a minute before the dragon started to waver, slowly collapsing onto the ground - as if in slow motion - before landing heavily.
Still, Nigyul waited, making sure the beast was well and truly dead before releasing his grip.
You were stunned by the display as Nigyul shrank rapidly, Balam landing gracefully on the ground, with Nigyul in his hand, no larger than a small kitten.
Minutes. Minutes is all it took for Balam to topple the dragon. You had felt the power of the dragon itself crushing down on you, nevermind the evidence of its destructive power was in the ruins of the amusement park surrounding you.
Yet, for Balam and Nigyul, it had seemed no more than a minor opponent.
Iruma, Sabnock, and Asmodeus soon crowded around the tall professor expressing the same sentiment, professing how 'cool' and 'powerful' he was.
It was amusing to see Balam flustered, his face pink but obvious that a smile was hiding behind his mask. He looked over towards you as Asmodus and Sabnock started to argue once more, something changing in his gaze.
You ignored the flip-flop of your stomach as you took your turn to approach the hero of the day.  "That was amazing,” You offered, feeling unusually shy. You were fully aware everyone else had said the same thing, but still, you felt like you needed to say it.
And even then, it didn’t seem to do justice to what you had witnessed.
"Thank you," He said, rubbing the back of his head, face still darkened by a blush. "Though, I hope no one was hurt by any flying debris when the carmine dragon was thrashing around…"
"Not a single pebble hit anyone, as far as I know," You reassured, your attention drifting to the dragon in his hand. Without really thinking, you reached up to brush its wet-looking mane. It looked so cute with its tail twisting around his thumb, reminding you of an opossum baby holding onto its mother. "I can't believe this little cutie is the same beast that took on that dragon with little effort."
The small dragon sniffed your fingers carefully before headbutting them, reminding you of a cat demanding to be pet. And well, who were you to refuse the chance to pet an actual dragon? The main felt soft and damp, while his hide felt both pliable but firm, rather like the body of a vine.
"Nigyupnil dragons feed on magic. The more magic for them to consume, the more they grow. While in the wild the largest they usually achieve is that of a hellcat, Nigyul can grow far more massive when linked to my mana." Balam explained, easily sliding into professor mode before catching himself. "But more importantly, how are you here?"
You were about to explain the rapid flow of events when two flashes of light caught your eye. You barely realized the carmine dragon itself was starting to glow when Balam shifted his stance, standing between the magical beast and everyone.
"Stay back!"
--+-- Su-Ki-Ma --+--
Opera was surprised when Lord Sullivan landed beside them, watching as Ameri fought the panther leopard. "Lord Sullivan? What are you doing here?"
"I saw the newscast and was worried about my precious grandson!" The demon lord answered, pouting slightly. "How could I stay away when my precious Iruma-kins was in danger?"
That made sense, but only very superficially. "Iruma is with Balam's group." And Sullivan should have been able to pinpoint exactly where the human was, considering both the magic of the Gluttonous Ring and the cologne masking the human scent of Iruma was easy enough to follow.
"Oh, I know," Lord Sullivan confirmed with a smile and went as far as winking at his security demon "But I have every faith the white gargoyle of Babyls can protect not only Iruma, but maybe impress my dear daughter some more while doing so."
Opera smiled faintly, their hands clasping together as their tail twitched with glee. "Oh? So Operation: Matchmaker is a go?"
"Absolutely!" Sullivan agreed with a clap. "Oh you should have seen the way she was smiling at his messages today!" Sullivan pulled out his own phone, showing the feline demon snapshots of you smiling at your phone, happiness evident on your face. "Those two are going to be so cute together!"
"Indeed they will be, sir," Opera readily agreed. They were happy that they had possibly found someone appropriately suited to be their kohai's mate; someone who wasn't perturbed by his skinship habits, or intense love of learning about anything that breathed.
You had accepted Balam's quirks readily, and even appreciated them. Opera even dared to hope that you were beginning to love him even for the supposed flaws.
Hopefully, you wouldn't be scared off by his physical quirks either. It was easy to tell you found the professor attractive, but you hadn't seen his scar yet either - or the rest of his demon nature.
"Speaking of which," Lord Sullivan interrupted Opera's silent musings. "Have you figured out which of these lovely demons have a thing for our little Iruma?"
"I'm pretty sure all of them, sir. Though Master Iruma continues to be oblivious."
“I’m glad they can all appreciate how wonderful my grandson is! Though, I have a feeling Asmodeus will be giving them a run for their money.” Lord Sullivan smiled as he watched Ameri land the final blow. “To have the honor of seeing the next era of the Netherworld develop right before our eyes, Opera, is going to be more fun than I thought it would be.”

Memories (Balam Shichirou x AFAB!OC) Comm
Summary: Today is a very special day for Lee Kai. After all, she's finally getting married to her one true love. As she readies for the big event, she can't help but be overcome by memories of the times they spent together.
This was a piece commissioned by a friend for a mutual friend of ours, @shichirolover666! She gets the lovely joy of marrying our best boy Shichirou
Check out my other works on my masterlist!
The day had finally arrived.
Kai was preparing for her wedding. As she stood in front of the mirror, gently manoeuvring her obsidian black curls into just the right positions, memories of her high school days flooded her mind, each intertwined with the presence of Balam Shichirou, her lover and soon-to-be husband. Turning slightly, she leaned over and picked up the crown woven from flowers picked from their shared garden. Lightly plucking one from the crown and bringing it up to her nose she sniffed, a giddy smile lit up her face as the familiar floral notes flooded her brain, an echo of a time long past joining it.
It had been the first day of high school. Her first time far away from home and it was to attend the prestigious school of Babyls, headed by Lord Sullivan himself. It was an honour, and an anxiety fest because of it. A new school meant new rules and new demons to learn about while trying to survive. Kai was well aware she wasn't the strongest of demons, her family, the Lee's, rarely ever even earned rank Vav, but they were well regarded regardless due to their bloodline ability.
Manisfesto. The ability to project anything they pictured in their head onto a piece of paper. On its own, it didn't sound like a much-needed ability unless you were an artist but with a bit of creativity, the ability was incredibly useful. Especially when you worked as an informant or spy and could create layouts of homes and compounds just by seeing them and then copying them down on maps. This made the Lee's a nice family to have on your side in times of skirmishes, but in general, they much preferred hanging out in the background and painting their days away, and Kai was no exception to this.
This is why when the first day of class came around and she entered her new homeroom, she had made an immediate bee-line for the quietest part of the room where only two other demons sat, avoided by everyone else. The one on the left was nearly a head taller with short black hair and curled back horns combined with a grimace on his face that made him seem like a permanently snarling dog, and she had to lightly bite her lip to keep from laughing at the image. The one on the right however seemed to be their polar opposite, far shorter (even shorter than her and what a surprise that was to a 4'9" lamb!) with fluffy white hair falling to their narrow shoulders and a gleaming metal mask covering their lower face, leaving only wide circular eyes staring at their desk partner.
Kai gently plopped into the seat next to the tinier demon, catching only the tail end of their conversation, "-was the quietest seat. I can't stand the other seats, they're noisy. You can move if you don't like it," the dark-haired one growled out, black eyes quickly flickering to her before going back to looking at their book.
"I agree," she added as casually as could, placing her sketchbook on the table, flipping it to an empty page, once more trying not to laugh as the smaller demon visibly startled at the addition of her voice, white hair whipping with their head as they turned their wide eyes onto her.
"Ah no..." his voice came out softly and almost awed sounding as his eye flicked back and forth between the two demons he was now surrounded by, "It's fine. I'm...Balam Shichirou."
The dark-haired demon flicked another look in their direction, a considering look in his eyes, "...Naberius Kalego," he finally said, almost causing Kai to squeak in alarm knowing very well how infamous the Naberius family was, before turning his dark gaze solely onto her with a raised eyebrow.
"Lee Kai," she said with a smile, "It's a pleasure to meet the both of you."
A sigh left herand she placed the flower back into its right spot in the crown before resting it gently above her head, being careful to avoid the sharp horns poking out from her forehead. The bright colours of the flowers shone brightly in stark contrast to her black hair. Clawed pale hands reached out from behind her head and carefully lifted the top portion of her hair up so that the back half of the crown settled beneath the flowing locks, before separating and braiding them around the crown so that the curls were nearly inseparable from the flowers from behind.
Kai glanced up into the mirror as the demoness behind her got to work, the taller figure's own silky blonde locks were done up in an intricatebraided bun of her own. Leaves and wildflowers twirled in and out of the hair strands as if they had grown there naturally, a show of talent no doubt from the third member of this little bridal party. The feathered wings on her back were a green so dark they looked black until they moved just right under the lights, and the showing couldn't help but remind Kai of Shichirou's own set of similar but far larger wings. Even when they had been kids, she couldn't help but be fascinated by his wings, so uniquely different from all of the other demons she had met at the time, and even now, she knew of only a few who shared that similar trait, and all of them were members of his family. Even the one currently doing her hair was.
Lyra Northman, a member of an off-shoot branch of the Balam family. They not only had similar looks, with their deep green feathered wings and varying levels of blonde hair, but they even had a similar blood-line magic. Whereas the Balam family had 'Buzzer', which could tell whether or not you were lying, the Northman family had 'TruthSeer,' an ability to detect the intentions behind why you were doing something. It came in quite handy on several occasions but had also led Lyra to pick many fights while in school, both as a student and a teacher's aid, much to several people's discernment. Even now, as a bonafide teacher themselves, while having calmed down, they still picked fights.
Most notoriously were the fights between Opera-senpai, Lyra, and her partner Kalego. Though really, it was Opera and Lyra picking on Kalego who then usually started the fight.
Kai could still remember the first time she had met both Opera and Lyra.
Bam!
Kai and Shichirou jumped in surprise from where they had sat at the cafe table looking over one another's drawings, a squeak even leaving her mouth at the suddenness of it. Kai stared wide-eyed at Kalego who slumped down into his seat with a snarl. "This is the eighth time!"
Now that she recognized that it was merely Kalego and his usual surliness, she simply sighed and put her sketchbook away, mentally praying that she wasn't about to be drawn into something before asking, "Eighth time?"
Another snarl from him was her answer before devolving into a rant, "This is the eight time I've been pestered by upperclasman! I've only been enrolled here for a month, and I don't know why the keep picking fights with me! What bad luck! How awful! It's also getting pretty annoying..!" He devolved into growls, harsh vibrations escaping his throat as his body visibly jittered with it. Kai and Shichirou simply exchanged a glance, more than use to their classmates surly attitude by now.
"You draw a lot of attention Kalego-kun," Shichirou commented, crossing his bird-like feet over one another under the table, "and you look menacing." he continued on looking away and ignoring Kalego's shout of hey.
"Well," Kai pipped in before Kalego jumped over the table, "Do you have any idea why they might be pestering you?"
"Maybe you bit them in a fit of rage?" Shichirou said, taking a sip of his drink.
"I don't," Kalego replied, "I'm not some feral dog. I wouldn't attack first unless I had to. In other words..." he trailed off leaning forward, folding his hands together and resting his chin on them as he stared at them intently. "They mistook me for someone else. Dark curly hair...wears both a male and female uniform...has two horns-"
"That's you." Shichirou and Kai deadpanned together.
"Listen! I'm telling you two that's not me!! I'm not foolish enough to go around beating anyone up that I see! That 'Top Dog' halfwit, I will definetely find them!"
"And what are you going to do after that?" Shichirou asked. Kai leaned forward slightly, lamb ears twitching in curiosity at the answer. They had been listening to Kalego complain about this person for weeks, whaevert revenge he had dreamed up had to have been interesting.
"Strip them down and shave their head." Kai blinked at the response, well she hadn't been wrong at least but still-
"That's worse than just beating them up." Shichirou voiced her thoughts and Kai nodded to show her agreement.
"Why not change your hair?" She asked, internally holding the giggle that wanted to erupt at the sudden picture of a blond Kalego.
"Why should I have to give in?" He snapped at her, seeming to sense that she was laughing at him. "Once the foolish 'Top Dog' stops their foolish fighting spree, the fools who are pestering me will cease and I'll return to a life of peace and quiet."
"Quiet huh..." Shichirou mumbled seeming to stare off in the distance, before shaking himself out of it and laying his head down on the table, " I think you tend to get yourself involved in troublesome situations, though."
"What?"  Kai hummed in question.
"Nothing, just talking to myself." Shichirou replied.
Suddenly Kalego slammed his hand on the table causing a loud banging noise to ring out through the cafeteria and causing Kaitlin to jump at the sound as he stood up. "Anyway, we're going to investigate! I'm definitely going to catch the 'Top Dog' by the tail, and make them pay."
Kati and Shichirou both let out a sigh but dutiful got up to follow him. They were definitely getting dragged into something and she could already tell it wasn't going to go the way Kalego wanted it to.
After spending several hours, just trying to find even a glimpse of information not already
known to them, from searching the library to asking both the teachers and students, Kai had definitely gotten confirmation that nothing was going to go to Kalego's plan.  After all, how could he do anything to this "Top Dog" when they couldn't even figure out what they fully looked like? Collapsing onto a bench out in the courtyard, leaning onto Shichirou and even using his head to rest hers on she watched as the little gargoyle demon produced a picture of what looked like an angry ball of fur with two horns to show to Kalego.
"And so, based on our research we can conclude that the identity of the 'Top Dog' is this." Shichirou concluded proudly. Kai started to lean over and coo over the cute drawing before falling over with a startled bleat when Kalego's hand appeared and gripped Shichirou's face, barely missing her own.
"Tell. Me. Which part of that exactly looks like me!?" Kalego snarled out, tightening the grip he held on Shichirou.
"The eyes," he replied at the same time Kai muttered, 'Your surly attitude,' as she righted herself and sat back up properly with a sniff, ignoring Kalego's shout of 'hey!' "Everyone just gave us vague descriptions!" Shichirou continue, unbothered by their fighting, "Doesn't help that the witnesses are all in the hospital. This is what they look like when we combine all of the rumours."
"...So we're stuck," Kai piped in, before sinking further into her seat, legs stretched out before her as she slumped down. "If only there was someone who knew everything about all of the students." Kalego visibly flinched at her words, eyes darting away from her and she raised an eye at the reaction.
"Hey, Kalego-kun," Shichirou called while leaning forward, "Isn't it about time? You should ask him." Him? Kai sat up, ears perked in interest at who this him was that could cause such a reaction in Kalego.
"I...don't want to," Kalego muttered, still looking anywhere but the two of them.
Shichirou took advantage of Kalego looking away and hopped down from the bench gingerly before pushing Kalego in the direction of the school, ignoring his Kalego's struggles and indignant squawking. "Don't be so selfish, it's for the sake of our research! Come on!"
Curiosity piqued even further Kai also hopped down from the bench and followed them back into the school and down several hallways before ending up....in front of the teacher's lounge? She blinked several times in confusion as Kalego struggled even harder against Shichirou's grip before her curiosity roused even higher and she opened the door for all of them. Taking advantage of it Shichirou gripped Kalego slightly harder and raised him off the ground slightly before depositing him into the room and quickly shutting the door again behind him.
Kai's ears lowered in disappointment at not being able to know who was causing that reaction in Kalego before Shichirou gestured her over from where he was leaning against the wall. "You're not going to want to be in front of the door when he comes back out." Obidiently Kai walked over to where he stood and leaned agaisnt the wall too before sliding down to sit on the floor.
"Who is he?" Kai asked after a few minutes of silence. At Shichirou's confused look she clarified, "the one that Kalego doesn't want to talk to, who is he?"
"The guard dog of Bablys, also known as his uncle."
"Oh, ok."....wait what?
Before she could ask further questions the door slammed open and Kalego raced out with a loud shout of, "The rooftop!" Without even thinking Kai and Shichirou's feet pounded after him, following him down the halls towards where Kai could only assume the rooftop was. "That shitty uncle!" Kalego complained as they ran, "He was stalling on purpose, this is why I hate him. And I even had to use my brother as an excuse!"
"The rooftop...can we even make it in time?" Shichirou asked.
"We just have to try, there's no other choice!" Kalego answered as they raced up the stairs. Kai's ears twitched as the sounds of grunts and shouts filtered down. So there really was a fight up there, and if Kalego's uncle was to believed, than the 'Top Dog' they had been hunting all day was up there.
A loud bang echoed through the stairs, followed by a started squeak from Kai as the three first years barely had enough time to dodge as a door flew down the stairs followed by a large student who landed uncounscious behind them.
"Wha..." Kai muttered turning back to look at Shichirou and Kalego before her eyes darted up to stare at the now open door, daylight streaming through and almost blinding her. The idenity of the 'Top Dog' was right behind that entranceway. Carefully climbing up the rest of the stairs, Kai's ears stayed up and alert in case there were anymore flying objects headed her way, but everything seemed quiet now. Had the fight ended?
Crossing through the archway Kai blinked to let her eyes adjust to the sudden brightness before gasping in shock. Standing before her was a large pile of what she could only assume were fellow students, and sitting on top of the pile, as casual as could be, was a single demon with-
"Dark curly hair, wears both the male and female uniforms..." she muttered out loud.
"You!" Kalego interrupted, " So you're the one!!"
"...Oh my," they said before hoping down effortlessly, gracefully even. Every nerve in Kai's body was singing that this demon in front of them was dangerous and it only rose as they gave a small smile, "You three...got a problem?" "Oh," a voice cooed from behind the pile of defeated students. Kai's eyes whipped over to where a head with blonde hair popped out casually, followed by a body obviously belonging to an older student and a large pair of feathered wings so dark the green almost looked black except when they hit the light just right. "Have more little mice decided to try and...Shichirou?" The voice ended bewildered, eyes wide as they finally caught onto the smallest member of their little trio.
"Lyra?" Shichiriou questioned in return, obviously just as confused at this new person's appearance, as Kalego snapped something at the first demon who had appeared, not as easily distracted or deterred in his mission to stop the 'Top Dog'. Though perhaps it should be 'top cat' Kai mused to herself, noting the feline features before focusing back in on the other conversation, following Shichirou as he wandered closer to Lyra. Kai would much prefer being near what was obviously a reunion of some sort rather than being dragged into the fight that was most definitely about to occur between the other two as they argued.
"Look at you! I had forgotten you were starting this year. How are you finding it so far? Let me know if you need anything and - oh!" Lyra's eyes finally moved to Kai tilting her head and staring in such a way that Kai felt like a mouse being watched by a bird of prey before Lyra suddenly grinned, eyebrows waggling at Shichirou. "Who's this cutie? Did you get a girlfriend already baby bird?"
Fierce blushes covered both Shichirou and Kai's faces at the question, a startled bleat even squeaking out of Kai as Shichirou spluttered out denials. This went on for a few seconds before Lyra let out a laugh, enjoying their reactions immensely, waving their words away. "You're both far too easy to tease," She said with a wide grin.
Shichriou sighed before gesturing to the blonde, "Kai this is Lyra, my older cousin from my mom's side of the family. Lyra this is Kai, my....ally?" He ended hesitantly. Technically, even though they had been chatting and hanging out for over a month now, they had never actually confirmed whether they were just acquaintances or if they enjoyed each other's company enough to be allies.
Kai sent a smile and slight nod at the tinier gargoyle before bowing at Lyra. "It's a pleasure to meet my ally's family. My name is Lee Kai, a first-year--"  a loud crackling noise rang out and Kai barely even paused, though she was certain that meant Cerberion had been summoned "and that grumpy dog over there is Naberius Kalego, also a first-year."
"Northman Lyra, older cousin of the baby bird here and a fifth year. Mr. Top Dog over there," her grin widened, clearly amused at the misnomer as well, "is Opera, a second year." Lyra's eyes flickered over to where Kalego and Opera were, letting out a low whistle at the sight of the large dog made of electricity that Kalego had surely let out by now.
Shichirou whirled around, just now registering that Kalego and Opera actually intended to fight on the rooftop, "Wait, Kalego-kun, calm down!"
"This is your last chance," Kalego said ignoring him, " Are you going to quit fighting?"
"No," was Opera's simple reply. "I mean if you want to try and stop me by force go ahead and try. I was planning on silencing you by doing the same anyway. I can't have you going around revealing my identity can I?"  A shiver of fear ran down Kai's back and she involuntarily took a step back, the pile of bodies next to her an awful reminder of what this Opera was capable of, and was apparently ready to do to all three of them. Suddenly her view of the fight was slightly blocked by a large green wing curling around her as Lyra stepped closer to her and Shichirou, ready to protect the both of them.
"These two are off-limits kitty-cat, keep your claws off of them,"  Lyra called over to them, getting the slightest nod of acknowledgement in return.
"I prefer this method of talking," Opera claimed as they got into a fighting stance, ready to take Kalego and his magic on barehanded, now that they knew Lyra wouldn't be stepping in.
"Don't mock me!" Kalego snarled, whipping his arm out to send Cerberion charging towards Opera. Kai's eyes widened and her hands flew to her mouth as she watched Cerberion's claws come crashing down onto Opera's figure. Kai's arm flew up to protect her eyes from the wave of dust that came flying at them at the impact, once the flow of wind came to a stop, she dared a peak and let out a gasp at the sight.
Where there should have been a flattened student, instead stood Opera, barely slouchy as their hands gripped the far larger claws of Cerberion, looking all for the world as if they were blocking a puppy rather than an electric dog that was close to the size of a small home. All three of them watched in shock as Opera readjusted their grip before throwing Cerberion over their shoulder -- right towards where Kai and the other two were standing.
Kai let out a bleat of distress at the sight of the incoming dog and barely had the thought to me before a wall of crystal appeared, blocking the canine's descent on top of them.
Lyra's shout, "Give a girl a warning you stupid cat!" and Shichirou's exclaim "A shoulder throw!?"   sounded as if it was miles away, barely heard over the blood rushing and heart beating rapidly in her ears as Kai watched Opera dart forward before landing a solid punch into Kalego's gut. She couldn't help but wince as Kalego was visibly lifted off of the ground from the force before falling to the ground, certain that he was blacking out -
Until Kalego's feet caught the ground and he whipped forward with a snarl, fangs flashing as he bit down harshly onto Opera's tail. Spitting it out he growled, "I couldn't possibly care any less about whatever reason your hunting is, but stop using that stupid 'Top Dog' title..." he paused staring directly into Opera's eyes, "because the guard dog of this school is me!"
Silence descended upon the rooftop at that declaration.
Opera blinked slowly, "Guard dog?" they muttered, before deadpanning, "You look more like an underdog to me..." Lyra snorted in amusement and even Kai couldn't help a startled laugh at the statement. "I see, you're quite --"
A startled scream from Shichirou interrupted whatever Opera intended to say and had everyone whipping their heads towards the small gargoyle. Kai's eyes widened at seeing him lifted off the ground by one of three students she had assumed was as knocked out as the rest of the pile. Had they simply been biding their time?
Did it really matter what they had been doing though, when what she could only assume was the head of the group, had his arm wrapped securely around Shichirou's neck.
"Don't move!" The leader shouted, brandishing his bat at them.
"Oh my," Opera commented as Lyra simply raised an eyebrow at the group.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," she said.
"Ya hear me, don't you dare a move a muscle," a crazed grin lit up the leader's face, "Heh, you let down your guard ya morons."
Shichirou grunted as the arm squeezed tighter, his fingers curling around the arm just that much tighter so that it wouldn't choke him, "It'll...it'll break."
"Really," Lyra said, "you should let him go or it will break."
"That's right! Try to fight us and I'll break this kid's ne..." He paused and Kai pulled at her ears, worry coursing through her veins at what was about to happen when she noticed that the leader was tilting. "ne...ee..." A loud crack resounded throughout the rooftop and before Kai could blink the leader was on the floor screeching in pain as Shichirou stood above him, arm still clutched in his hand as he fretted.
"I'm so sorry! I'm really bad at controlling my strength so...I might break your..." Shichirou trailed off, quickly letting go before he did further damage.
Lyra sighed, placing her forehead in her hand, "I tried to warn you it was going to break. Honestly, how is it you can hold a newborn devikitten but the second it's another demon all control flies away."
'Ah,' Kai thought, her eyes refusing to leave where there was a significant dent where Shichirou's fingers had connected with the leader's arm, 'so this is why Shichirou refused to ever touch her or Kalego.' To be fair, if she had the same problem, she would probably never touch another being again.
Her thoughts were interrupted as the leader did his best to get up, wondering to himself about what they all were. "Damn it! We'll retreat for now." He shouted as he ran past Kalego and Opera towards the exit. Privately Kai wondered why they didn't fly away rather than risk getting closer to the one who had beat them initially, though if she was in their position she might not have been thinking rationally either.
"Those who can still move report back to the Ethos Battler!" Another one shouted as he also ran past, and soon it was only the five of them left. Well the five of them left who was still conscious at least.
"Lyra! Opera! What in the Demon King do you two think you're doing!" A feminine-sounding voice screeched out from behind Kai, startling all of them. "You better not have been the cause of all this or I swear I'm going to-"
"There," Lyra said dragging Kai out of the memory, "your hair is all done and you're looking like a proper demon king if I say so myself." Kai's hand immediately flew up to touch and admire how the top of her black locks had been drawn up into an artful braid around the flower crown, woven into the vines and looking almost natural despite it being two different materials. The lower half had been left down but curled into a wavy mess that flowed behind her back, with tiny braids filled with flowers throughout it.
"The demon king?" A new voice popped in amused, sounding far nicer than when Kai had first heard it, "She's looking more like one of the goddesses above themselves. Could even give that adorable little princess a run for her money." Slowly appearing into the frame of the mirror, Kai met the gold eyes of the new demoness and blushed at the compliment. Kagetsu was always heaping compliments onto her and others, her succubae training always apparent in this manner, though according to Lyra, Kagetsu had always been the one people go to feel better, even before she had been dragged into the Succubi battler.
"Hardly," Kai replied, "but...do you think he will like it?" Her hands fiddled with the thick fabric of the slightly off-white gown she wore, being careful that her long claws didn't rip the delicate upper layer of thin lace above the main fabric. Out of the corner of her eyes, she could see Lyra and Kagetsu exchange a look before Kagetsu came closer and wrapped her arms around the lamb demoness. Kai could feel the warmth of the older demon's body as her breast pressed against Kai's back, Kagetsu's larger hands lightly gripped Kai's own forcing them to hold still before a hole could be worn through as Kagetsu's face nuzzled into the side of Kai's head, careful to not ruin Lyra's handiwork.
Two large pairs of black bat-like wings flowed out of Kagetsu's back, one pair slightly smaller than the other, and wrapped around them both, effectively hiding them from the view of the world, even from the view of the mirror so that all Kaitlin saw was the leathery blackness of Kagetsu's wings. "Oh, darling little Kai, he adores the ground you walk on and the sky you fly in. He would like it if you appeared in a potato sack or one of those overdone crystal ballgowns. This allows your true beauty to shine and the second he sees you he'll be praising Derkila and the gods themselves for letting him have even a chance at courting much less to marry you."
Kai's eyes teared up slightly at her adoptive parents' words and she nodded with a light laugh. With that Kagetsu's wings were gone, once more tucked neatly into her back, and she walked around the chair so that she was in front of the tinier demon. Placing a clawed finger underneath Kai's chin, Kagetsu gently tipped it up and tilted it from side to side, nodding softly to herself before waving her other hand, several palettes and a couple of bottles floated over leisurely, filled with what Kai could only assume was a multitude of makeup products.
"Besides," Kagetsu continued casually as she grabbed one of the bottles filled with a thick, viscous liquid, eyeing it carefully then opening the lid and pouring some onto the back of her other hand, before looking Kai in the eye with a feral grin, "should he be anything less than courteous and respectful to you I will personally rip out his wings and shove them down his throat before taking his tail and strangling him with it. Now tilt your head up and keep looking at me." Kai merely sighed at the threat, more than used to Kagetsu's darker side at this point, as Lyra nodded along and offered more colourful threats should Shichirou displease her in any way. Being essentially adopted by the older demonesses in her first year meant also having two bloodthirsty females who would go to war for her.
Kai didn't really mind it in the least now. In the beginning, it had been slightly horrifying, always terrified that their bellicose ways would turn on her somehow, but it never did. Not once. Oh, there were definitely times they argued and snapped at one another, you couldn't have three inherently territorial creatures in one space for ages on end without them, but never had Kai felt truly scared of them when it happened. There were, in fact, times when they had made Kai feel stronger and more empowered when it happened. Kagestu always twists and manipulates words so that even when she wins the fight, Kai feels like she has also won and is all the more confident about it. Still, it was probably for the best that she never mentioned the few times Shichirou had actually made her cry, otherwise there wouldn't be a demon left for her to marry today.
Or she'll end up a widow before the night is over, and as she would really like to avoid that it was probably best to avoid mentioning anything. It was really no wonder that the two allies kept the Naberius brothers well in line.
Kai laughed at her thoughts and shook her head slightly, mindful not to disturb Kagetsu's careful handiwork. Lyra, catching her movement, raised an eyebrow in curiosity.
"What's amusing you, Kai?" she asked, her voice as gentle as the brush strokes against Kai's face.
"Oh, nothing much," Kai replied, her smile widening. "Just thinking about how far we've come. If someone had told me back then that I'd be here, getting married to Shichirou, with you both by my side, I wouldn't have believed them."
Kagetsu and Lyra exchanged a look before breaking into matching smiles.
"Life has a funny way of surprising us," Kagetsu said, her tone softening. "But I, for one, am not surprised. You and Shichirou are perfect for each other. You balance each other out in ways that not many mated pairs can claim. I bet even Lilith herself would be jealous of you upon this day."
Lyra nodded in agreement. "And you've always had a knack for finding your way, even when the path seemed unclear."
Kai's heart swelled with affection for her friends. They had been through so much together, from the early days of school to the trials and triumphs that had followed. Their bond had been forged in the fires of adolescence, with her often heavily leaning on the two for parental advice, and it had only grown stronger with time.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "I couldn't have done this without you."
"Nonsense," Kagetsu said, brushing off the sentiment with a wave of her hand. "You've always had the strength within you. We just helped you see it."
As they finished the final touches, Kai took one last look in the mirror. She barely recognized the radiant demoness staring back at her. Her gown fit perfectly, and the intricate lace, embroidered vines that trailed up from the hem, and oversized sleeves highlighted her slender frame. The flowers in her hair added a touch of natural beauty, making her look like she had stepped out of a fairy tale. A far cry from the little first year who hadn't even known what a menstrual cycle was and had to have her, then ally's, mother explain it to her.
Kai lay curled up in Shichirou's nest, wings tightly curled around her as she lay clutching her stomach, waves of pain coursing through her body. She had come to visit him during their winter vacation, looking forward to a week of relaxation and fun. But instead, she had been struck by a mysterious and agonizing pain that left her weak and trembling.
Shichirou sat beside her, his face etched with worry. "Kai, what's wrong? What can I do?" he asked, his voice tinged with desperation. Kai could only shake her head, unable to speak through the pain.
"I don't know, Shichirou," she managed to gasp out. "It just... it hurts so much."
Panic flashed in Shichirou's eyes, and he quickly got up, rushing out of the room. He knew he needed help, but he didn't know what to do. Bursting into his mother's study, he found her reading a book, her green wings draped gracefully over the back of her chair.
"Mom! Something's wrong with Kai!" he blurted out, his voice high with anxiety. "She's in so much pain, and I don't know what to do!"
His mother, Althea Balam, looked up quickly at her youngling's panic before gripping his shoulders and kneeling before him. "Take a deep breath, Shichirou," she said gently. "Tell me what's wrong."
As Shichirou explained, Althea's expression softened with understanding. "It sounds like Kai is having her first period," she said, a slight laugh in her voice as relief gripped her. "It's a natural part of growing up, though it can be very painful and confusing, especially for the first time."
Shichirou's eyes widened. "Her...period? But, what do I do?"
Althea stood up, placing a comforting hand on her son's shoulder. "I'll help you. First, we need to make her comfortable. I'll get some tea and pain medication. You go back to her and just be there. Let her know she's not alone."
Shichirou nodded, his heart still pounding with worry but now bolstered by his mother's guidance. He returned to his room, finding Kai still curled up on the bed. He gently climbed in beside her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.
"It's going to be okay, Kai," he whispered, his voice soothing. "My mom's getting some tea and medicine. I'm here with you."
Kai buried her face in his chest, finding comfort in his warmth and the steady beat of his heart. "Thank you, Shichirou," she murmured, her voice trembling.
A few minutes later, Althea entered the room, carrying a tray with a steaming cup of tea and a small bottle of pain medication. She set it down on the bedside table and smiled reassuringly at Kai.
"Here you go, dear," she said, handing the cup to Shichirou to give to Kai. "This should help with the pain. Just sip it slowly, and take these as well." She handed Shichirou the bottle, and he carefully measured out the proper dose before giving it to Kai.
"Thank you, Mrs. Balam," Kai said, managing a weak but grateful smile.
Althea nodded and gave her son a gentle pat on the back. "Just let her rest, Shichirou. She needs comfort and warmth right now. You're both doing great."
With that, Althea quietly left the room, closing the door behind her. Shichirou adjusted the blankets around them, creating a makeshift nest that enveloped them both in warmth. He held Kai close, stroking her hair and whispering soothing words until the tea and medication began to take effect.
As the pain gradually subsided, Kai felt herself relax in Shichirou's arms. The warmth of his body and the gentle rhythm of his breathing lulled her into a state of calm. She nuzzled closer, finding solace in his presence.
"Thank you, Shichirou," she whispered again, her voice barely audible.
"Anything for you, Kai," he replied softly, resisting the urge to kiss the top of her head. "Just rest now. I'm here."
Kai closed her eyes, the pain fading away as she drifted into a peaceful sleep, secure in the knowledge that Shichirou would be there to take care of her.
"Ready to go?" Kagetsu asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
Kai took a deep breath clearing the latest memory away and nodded, carefully flipping her veil down to cover her face without messing anything up. "Ready."
With that, Lyra and Kagetsu led her out of the room and towards the grand hall where the ceremony would take place. As they walked, memories of her journey flashed through Kai's mind, each step bringing her closer to the moment she had been dreaming of.
The doors to the hall swung open, and Kai's breath caught in her throat. The room was filled with friends and family, all gathered to witness this special day. At the end of the aisle stood Shichirou, his eyes locked onto hers with a mixture of love and awe.
As Kai made her way down the aisle, she felt a sense of peace wash over her. This was where she was meant to be, with the people she loved most by her side and the demon she adored waiting for her.
When she finally reached Shichirou, he took her hands in his, his touch sending a shiver down her spine.
As Kai stood hand-in-hand with Shichirou, her mind drifted back to the first fight they had ever had. It was a memory she rarely revisited, but today, on their wedding day, it seemed important to remember how far they had come.
It had been a stressful week at Babyls. Exams were approaching, and the pressure was getting to everyone, especially the third years, as this marked whether or not they would be able to continue their next three years of final schooling at Babyls. Kai had been working tirelessly, balancing her studies with her familial duties. Her sketches, studies, and plans fill her every waking moment. Shichirou had been equally busy, his responsibilities as a student and his own family obligations leaving him exhausted.
The tension between them had been building for days. Little things that normally wouldn’t have bothered them became sources of irritation. They hadn’t had much time to spend together, and when they did, their conversations were strained and filled with misunderstandings.
The breaking point came one evening in the library. Kai had been hunched over a particularly challenging assignment, her frustration mounting with each passing minute. Shichirou had arrived late, looking worn out and distracted.
“Could you please keep it down?” she snapped, not even looking up from her work.
“I’m not making any noise,” Shichirou replied, his voice equally sharp.
Kai glanced up, her eyes narrowing. “I could hear your talons clicking from a mile away, and you’re fidgeting. It’s distracting.”
Shichirou sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I’m just trying to get comfortable. Can we not do this right now?”
“Do what?” Kai shot back. “All I’m asking is for a little bit of consideration. Is that too much?”
Shichirou’s eyes flashed with irritation. “Consideration? You’re the one who’s been snapping at me all week. Maybe if you weren’t so wrapped up in your work, you’d notice how stressed I am too.”
Kai felt her anger flare. “Oh, so it’s my fault now? I’m doing the best I can, Shichirou. I’m sorry if that’s not good enough for you.”
They stared at each other, the tension between them thick and palpable. The library felt suddenly too small, too quiet. Shichirou’s wings twitched in agitation, and Kai’s ears flattened against her head in anger before snarling at him. Her usually hidden fangs bared and Shichirou startled, eyes wide in his surprise and tensing in case she snapped and tried to attack him, a low warning growl in his throat.
Without another word, she gathered her things and stormed out of the library, leaving Shichirou standing there, his expression a mix of surprise and worry at what had just happened. He had never felt so out of place in her company before, and he didn't like the feeling.
It wasn’t until a week later, during a particularly quiet evening in the garden, that Kai finally found herself in his presence again.  She found him in their garden, sitting on a bench, looking lost in thought as he worriedly picked at the scales on his arms. Gathering her courage, she approached him, her heart pounding in her chest.
“Shichirou,” she said softly.
He looked up, surprise and relief flashing in his eyes. “Kai.”
She sat down beside him, her hands trembling slightly. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I’ve been so stressed that I ended up pushing myself into an evil cycle and I took it out on you. That wasn’t fair.”
Shichirou sighed, his shoulders relaxing slightly. “I’m sorry too. I should have been more understanding. We’ve both been under a lot of pressure.”
They sat in silence for a moment, the tension between them slowly melting away.
“I don’t want to fight with you,” Kai said finally. “You mean too much to me.”
Shichirou reached out and took her hand, his grip warm and reassuring. “I don’t want to fight either. Let’s not let this happen again. Next time let me help you, okay?”
Kai nodded, a sense of relief washing over her. “Okay.”
As Kai stood at the altar, she squeezed Shichirou’s hand, her heart filled with love for the gargoyle before he. That fight had been a turning point for them, a reminder that their relationship was worth fighting for. And today, as they stood together, ready to face the future as partners, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
"You look beautiful," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion.
"And you look handsome," she replied, her smile matching his.
As the ceremony began, Kai felt a sense of completeness she had never known before. Surrounded by love and supported by her friends, she knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, she would face them with courage and strength.
What few clouds there were moved and the sun bathed the garden in a warm, golden light as Kai and Shichirou stood before their gathered friends and family. The air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers and the gentle murmur of the assembled guests. Shichirou's white hair, for once properly brushed and pulled back into a high ponytail, shimmered softly in the sunlight and Kai's eyes sparkled with emotion.
The officiant, a respected elder from their community, nodded to Kai to begin her vows.
Kai took a deep breath, her heart pounding with the weight of the moment. She looked into Shichirou's eyes, finding strength in the love she saw reflected there.
"Shichirou," she began, her voice steady, "from the moment we met, you have been my anchor, my confidant, and my greatest challenge. We’ve faced countless obstacles together, and every trial has only made my love for you stronger. I promise to stand by your side, to support you in all your dreams, and to cherish every moment we share. You are my heart, my home, and I am honoured to become your partner for life."
A soft murmur of appreciation rippled through the guests as Shichirou squeezed Kai's hand gently. He took a moment, collecting his thoughts before speaking.
"Kai," he said, his voice filled with warmth and sincerity, "you have brought light and joy into my life in ways I never imagined. Your strength, your passion, and your unwavering dedication inspire me every day. I promise to be your protector, your supporter, and your friend. Together, we will face whatever challenges come our way, and I will love you with all that I am, for all of my days."
The officiant smiled and nodded, signalling for the next part of the ceremony. He raised his hands, signalling the completion of the ceremony. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you bound in love and life. You may seal your union with a kiss."
Kai and Shichirou turned to face each other fully, Shichirou carefully lifting the front of the veil so that her face was exposed. They both held out their out their left hands to the other’s face. Kai felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as she gently took Shichirou’s hand, bringing it to her lips. She met his eyes, silently asking for permission one last time. He nodded, a small, reassuring smile on his face.
With careful precision, Kai bit down gently on Shichirou's ring finger, leaving a small, neat mark. She felt a strange sense of connection flow through her as she did as if this act truly bound their souls together. Shichirou then took her hand and did the same, his bite firm but tender, and Kai was quite proud to have held in the wince at the pain that hit her.
Kai and Shichirou leaned in, their lips meeting in a kiss that was soft, yet filled with all the passion and promise of their vows. The guests erupted into applause, celebrating the union of two souls who had found their perfect match in each other.
As they pulled apart, Shichirou whispered in Kai’s ear, "You’re finally mine.”
Kai smiled, her heart swelling with happiness. "I always was.”
Yes the day had finally arrived.
And it was perfect.

Welcome to Demon School x Reader Headcanons
Their reaction to reader saying ‘‘tis but a scratch” when they’re actually injured
Characters: Balam, Kalego, Opera
💛- read as platonic
Tumblr media
Balam
- Oh boy, let's say Balam is aware that you're human
- This will lead to him being even more concerned, sure you've survived for this long without anyone knowing you're human but still, he’ll be worried
- He’ll accidentally come across you bleeding out, first thing he notices is the injury and the smell of your blood
- Panics ‘cause demons and humans smell different -> any demon can come after you -> quickly brings you to his office and takes care of your injury
- Even if you insist ‘tis but a scratch’ he’ll just stare at your bleeding side while taking out many bandages and first aid stuff
- He may not know much about humans but what you have is definitely not a scratch!
- Makes you check up with him everyday to make sure its healing correct, gives you extra healing and bandage supplies to take home
Tumblr media
Kalego
- He didn't know you were human until you were injured
- We’re gonna say he’s okay that you're human in order to write this
- First thing he checks is if there are any other demons around, it could be a problem if you're secret got out
- In a rush he brings you to Balams office/ room
- He knows he can trust Balam, and also Balam is the best demon he can think of that can help you
- While you guys wait for Balam to show up you keep insisting that you're okay, that ‘tis just a scratch’
- He pauses to take in what you said and then- “Are you an idiot?”
- Thinks you lost too much blood and makes you sit
- Tries to find anything to wrap you up for the time being
- Once Balam shows up he explains to Kalego that everythings good, Kalego stays until he sees for himself that you're okay
Tumblr media
Opera
- They know because Iruma told them
- So when you come stumbling by them with a major injury they immediately take action
- They bring you home (the mansion), quickly informs Sullivan, and gets to work with cleaning you up
- As they bandage you, you tell Opera that you're okay, ‘tis but a scratch
- They ignore you and forcibly make you take some meds ,it's some tough love okay? No way they are letting one of Irumas friends bleed out
- Once the injury has been maintained and taken care of, they will make some tea and cookies for you and let you rest
- Gives you suckers before you go
- For the next week or so Opera asks Iruma if you're doing alright
