I’ve seen an uptick in people saying they don’t know much about trains, as an fyi I’m open to giving technical/historical advice for OCs or specific concepts or ships. Outside of steam engines (they usually get worse with irl context tbh), odds are I will enable you with some weird real justification for a “silly” concept or “anachronistically old” character still being around. Real trains are wildly counterintuitive vs media portrayals and often way weirder than given credit for.

I’m broadly familiar with 20th-21st century US trains and have some knowledge of British ones. It gets a lot spottier outside that but I know where to look and can probably point you in the right direction or dig for something if you give me a few days.

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

Hmm...! Toby and Donald have both been super rewarding. I know I carped about the process of working with them a lot - I felt pressured because my problems with them emerged only after I started publishing a fic that people were reading. But! I did enjoy the "problem" of working with them. I'd never written them very much before but they wound up with more screentime cos I found I really liked them.

They wound up adding a lot of depth to the story, cos neither wishes to get dragged into #Drama. But they're also both quite well-equipped to handle it, when they are. 😈

18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

I was having some difficulty with Thomas and Gordon early in the year, specifically sketcing out where they land at the end of Small World. They had to be quintessentially #Them, even though they're in an alt-timeline and some heavy stuff has gone down and their relationship can't be the same as how we know it. But it still has to be recognizable. Very so.

Was pulling out my hair for a few weeks, but once I finally produced good copy for them I was basically ready to start my second draft/publishing!

Ironically, Toby with Henrietta was a also bit of a speed-bump. Too straight-married-couple coded for my blood! Again, once I got the hang of it things were fine (writing Henrietta's reaction to Toby's two near-fistfights in Ch. 5 was fun) but it certainly required a few runs before I got my wheels under me.

So question, in Shattered Glass, how do the events change? Is it that the events happen to the same characters as they did in the regular timeline, or so the events switch to a swapped counterpart of theirs?

Like for example, in Animated, would it be SG Megatron left as just a head for 50 years, or would it be SG Optimus?

I feel like I’ve heard cases of both, so I just want clarification on the matter

who do you think is smarter: dean or sam?

neither? i think the show goes out of its way to say they're pretty evenly matched. they just find fulfillment through different types of stimuli. sam seems to prefer the more academic, research-oriented type pursuits. dean seems to prefer to tinker around with things and figure out how they work. but like... they're both versatile. dean can do the research, obviously. and he has his GED so he can also obviously do the work necessary to pass a test. and sam supposedly rebuilt (edit: fixed up) the impala in between s7 and s8 so he can also obviously do the tinkering type stuff.
