The song "Bananaphone" was the subject of a brutal copyright dispute in 2007, in which its author, Raffi, was nearly bankrupted under legal fees by Warner Music. He ultimately prevailed, but was only able to recoup some of the losses from the fight, between the insubstantial damages awarded and the fraction of legal fees that Warner Music were ultimately ordered to pay.
Other artists, including Alanis Morrissette and Eminiem, have referenced the Bananaphone case as explanation for abandoning their claim to some of their works to record labels, in spite of the clear strength of their case for ownership.

Dante's story is one of the record man stories I have heard quite a lot but it never ceases to amaze, enthrall and inspire. To have been present around all these great people and careers even thought I will be honest not a fan of Santana or Everlast.

Publishing has always been a fucking nightmare, but now it’s a layer of hell. It’s not enough that writers be good at what they do. Writers have to maintain an active social media presence and cultivate a following. Be available.
They have to be conventionally attractive enough to look good enough to see on a screen, aesthetically pleasing, kind, funny, up-to-date on trends, socially aware but not so controversial that they turn off a brand from California from slapping their discount code on a video promoting a book.
They have to do all of this with no media training, with little help from the companies that are supposed to be doing this for them.
Of course, a lot of this isn't possible for say, the 40-something mother of two who teaches English at a school and writes on the side. She’s boxed out of an already complex industry that already has enough walls.
On some level, I think authors have always marketed themselves a little, but we’ve reached such a crazy point where we’re demanding the author become the influencer. Accessibility in publishing has narrowed from an inch to a sliver. And that inch was hard enough to get in as is.

Nine Inch Nails "Get Fucked" Condom, promoting their first single, "Down In It" in 1989. This recently sold on eBay and I don't think I've seen higher quality photos so just archiving it here.

This is my vinyl record collection of old school and new school dark alternative music. From post-punk, darkwave, gothic rock, deathrock, new wave, shoegaze, ebm and industrial metal this is probably my favorite section of a pretty eclectic collection I’ve built for over a decade. Many of these records I’ve been able to get at shows and records stores in different cities and countries, which adds to their sentimental value. When I listen to music like this, I always want to crawl into a coffin and melt away or haunt a foggy dance floor with my fellow darklings, dancing the night away. Lately I’ve been spinning more of the newer act like Twin Tribes, Forever Grey and French Police, but it’s always nice to revisit the classics like Bauhaus, The Sisters, The Cure, Siouxsie… I myself am strange and unusual. 🦇

It has been a LONG time coming! But, finally, my new album is here!
Heaven Spat Me Out, Purgatory Filters Me, And Hell Awaits Me
It's a barely contained manic energy and the softest soothing lullaby one could endure at once. A sonic dissection of myself.
I really hope you enjoy. This is my magnum opus.

This could potentially mean no (new) Zayn, Niall or Liam as they’re all signed under the UMG umbrella.
