i watched the marbled floor turn into a field of clovers. i knew then, this is it, this is all there is, all there has ever been, all there will ever be. the man took my hand but it was no longer attached to me. i think that i am not my body. and that i am highly favored by God, and that God is real and so is everything else. every single particle of my being belongs to all of you. kiss me through the electric current flowing through glowing strands, extending from our brains like the strings of eight billion marionette puppets. the man took my hand- i kept mistakenly lying my hand on top of his as if he were courting me. if i listened close enough i could feel the electric current connecting every mind in the room. i smiled at my mother; i kept asking her what she was doing but she could not hear me through the screen of psilocybin—or perhaps i could not hear her. all of my thoughts were in the form of rhythmic poetry. i couldn’t stop smiling at those clovers dancing in the orange glow. oh, how i loved the shade of orange in the lightbulb. only the one that was the correct shade of orange. it made me feel warm. the man was angry, arguing with a woman. i think that they may have been speaking english. i was in another place. i could feel his thoughts. i could feel my soul caressing my tired vessel. i could feel everything that was. and as i fell into the depths of worldly poison, i could feel my limbs reattach themselves; once again caging me beneath their sinister embrace.

My Connection to Nature & It's Evolution
Hey everyone, welcome to my blog!
Today I'll be discussing my relationship with nature and its evolution over the years.
As I’ve progressed through university, I’ve found myself developing a greater appreciation of nature. Not that I ever didn't respect or appreciate it, but it was just always there, so I never took the time to truly immerse myself in its entirety. That's kind of the reality of growing up; you learn that life isn't simple and easy but rather that things can change quite quickly. When I was a kid I never thought about the future of the planet or of the colossal impacts we have on our environment. Now that I’ve grown up and taken classes detailing the science behind our planet and environment, I know how fragile it is and how unpromised its future is.
I grew up in Sudbury, Ontario. Sudbury is a city in northern Canada known for its rich natural surroundings and historical significance. The city is located on the Canadian Shield, and as such, has an abundance of rocky terrain and greenery. My house was 30 minutes out of town and ‘deep into the bush’ as some would say (I've included a picture below for context). Due to this, I was surrounded by forests and lakes with really no urban influence. Living there, surrounded solely by nature, I found a “sense of place”. Nature was not just a backdrop in Sudbury; it was an intrinsic component of my daily life. The trees provided a safe place, the lakes brought serenity, and the hard terrain was like a huge playground. Growing up I had a deep connection with the land, creating memories that were linked with the rustling of leaves, the smell of fresh pine, and the cool winds that blew around us while we played outside. As we had no real neighbours and about 140 acres of land with our house, me and my brother were often left to do whatever we pleased outside. This allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in nature and, honestly, gave us no other choice even if we didn't want to play outside. There was nothing even remotely close; just us and nature. This led to me having a more recreational connection to nature. I think this is why as a child I never truly appreciated nature, as I thought that it was just standard to always have it around us. It was only when I was old enough to understand the realities of the world that I developed a stronger appreciation for nature.
Tumblr media
Over the last several years, I've been fortunate enough to have taken various courses and learned a lot about nature. So far, Climate Change Biology (ENVS*3010) has by far been my favourite and truly opened my eyes about our impacts on the environment. As a result, my viewpoint on nature as a whole has changed significantly. I have also developed new kinds of connections with nature recently, including therapeutic, scientific, and sustainable-based connections. I now use my early memories as a source of reflection and thankfulness, displaying the long-term evolution of my relationship with nature.
I also have such a love for nature as it allows me to spend time with my family. Going out for walks and looking at all the diverse scenery is a great way to clear your head and take in its beauty. Recently, I've been training my new puppy how to walk on her leash. My parent's house is up north still so there aren't any sidewalks. Due to this, it's been challenging to get her to stay on the side of the road and walk off the paved road when cars pass. She seems to love cars so this has been quite a challenge. Especially when she tries to run in front of them or after them 🙃

We were so lucky during COVID, but my one loss was missing out on my first invitation to G4G, presenting a game in tribute to Robert Abbott.

'For Recreational Use Only': Blake Shelton returns to his roots
Blake Shelton’s 13th studio album opens with a fitting declaration for both his latest project and the current state of his career: “Stay Country or Die Tryin’.” It would be more accurately phrased like a question. At this stage, Shelton is a longtime veteran of Hollywood on “The Voice” stage with a pop superstar wife in Gwen Stefani, far removed from his Nashville roots, all while maintaining…

Dietitian Anuradha: Nutrition & Renal Diseases: Are You Eating Right?
Nutrition is very important, for treatment of any chronic disease. The question is about nutrition and renal disease; are you eating right? Challenge becomes bigger when there is organ damage involved. Kidney is a very crucial organ, which plays several important functions.
Avoid renal disease
Before I discuss diet for renal disease, I wish to talk about how to avoid renal disease.
1. Drink plenty of water to avoid kidney stones
2. Avoid excess salt, processed food, keep blood pressure in check
3. Follow balanced diet and healthy lifestyle including water, exercise and sleep. This will avoid diabetes.
Please note, diabetes is one of the leading causes of renal disease.
4. Manage stress, meditate, enjoy, and include recreational activities.
Renal Disease and nutritional problems
Diet in renal disease is based on the issues that are caused by the disease itself. Let’s try to understand:
1. Since kidney is unable to excrete urine, water retention in system happens. Water intake can be maximum 500 ml + amount of urine excreted per day.
2. Kidney has a system called rennin-angiotensin system which helps in maintaining blood pressure. Diseased kidney cannot handle this well. Hence, blood pressure fluctuates.
For this reason, salt restriction is very important.
3. Potassium is very crucial in renal disease. Sudden increase in potassium can lead to severe consequences.
Most fruits, vegetables, pulses, potatoes etc have potassium. Judicious choices are important as avoiding so many foods can cause deficiencies.
4. Erythropoietin system in kidney is responsible to maintain Red Blood Cells. Hence managing hemoglobin will require supplementation in kidney disease.
5. Phosphorus increase causes calcium loss from bones; the balance needs to be maintained. Hence, phosphorus rich foods are to be taken judiciously too.
Milk products being important source are mostly stopped, but they are important for other imp nutrients too, especially in vegetarian diet.
6. Protein restriction is most emphasized on. Please try to understand:
i. Chronic disease causes excessive protein loss in human system.
ii. Indians already take less protein in diet as compared to their requirement.
iii. Kidney disease require protein restriction
iv. Protein Restriction is 70-80% of the person’s ideal requirement, not less than what the patient is eating.
v. Protein restriction does not hold for patient on dialysis. In fact, lot of restrictions are relaxed for patients
7. Since, renal disease related diet is very restrictive, with good precautions also deficiencies occur. Supplementations are required with the help of medical practitioners
Renal Disease with other disease
Diet in renal disease is not very easy to frame anyways. When clubbed with other disease like blood pressure or diabetes, it becomes seriously difficult.
Simple fact, since proteins are restricted in Renal diet, carb rich diet is ideally given for the protein sparing action. In diabetic diet, carbs are restricted according to requirement. Opposite diets – two diseases –one patient. How do we manage?
Cannot write that in blog, as I do not wish people to follow it and get more sick. Patient will have to visit a qualified dietitian, period.
Final Word
If we do not want this to happen, take care of your health. Chronic disease can be avoided with proper diet and lifestyle. Prevention is better than cure.
The black mark on your neck is not dirt it is Acanthosis Nigricans. It means insulin resistance. You are already heading towards diabetes and eventually kidney disease. STOP NOW.
