Rolling out 3 colors of ink with a brayer on the ink stone in preparation for letterpress printing in the print shop exhibit at the Sacramento History Museum. The order from left to right is red, white, and blue to make some patriotic prints for Independence Day.
As Jared demonstrates, this is done to create an even layer of ink on the ink stone and brayer. The remaining ink at the top of the stone will gradually be rolled out as more prints are made.
