Date: May 16, 2024 Platform: Android, iOS, PC Developer: Beijing Mobi Culture Co., Ltd. Publisher: Beijing Changyou Times Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Genre: Card Game Theme: Adventure Also known as: 笔绘西行 Type: Reimanging
Summary:
The story takes place in the world of 100 years after Journey to the West. After five teachers and apprentices became Buddhas, they discovered the truth of the "scripture". This is just a wishful scam for the Buddhist world. In the writing "script", no matter how to overcome the magic barrier, it is just false. The demon that they have encountered and defeated are just "actors" and "chess pieces". , Even to preach the victim of the Dharma. The master and apprentice and his party were hit hard, so after sending the scriptures back to the Tang Dynasty, he disappeared from then on, and no one had seen them again. As a wordless scripture, "I" was taken back to Huaguo Mountain by Sun Wukong, attracting the snatch of the heavens and the demon. Goku was injured in protecting the scriptures, and his mana lost great mana and became a young form. In order to cure Goku and avoid the arrest, Bi Ling and Yutu and others embarked on a fantasy journey to find a helper, improve the wordless scriptures, and prevent the demon from the monster.

Starlit Sandsea (spoilers)
Tumblr media
A small part of me wonders if any of the Ateala refugees sometimes stop by the Inn and pay their respects to her memorial. Outside of us and the Guardians, Serenity was one of the first friendly human faces they saw after they fled Wargoth's Wrath. Moreover, with this new context in mind, they must have been personally horrified to have learned how she was "used" against us in Calamity, some perhaps more than others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ya know I can see this being one of the many catalysts, albeit obviously a small one, to set Alz'Ein off, in addition to a lot of the new characterization we've been getting for her in these Book 2 reimaginings. Imagine all the frustration she's experiencing from learning what happened to her people and their home world and now she's allowed time to let all of that stew in her head more while defending from behind. Sure, she is doing so alongside Etaos and Nirios, perhaps also Veyla, but I highly doubt she'll confide in them about her feelings regarding everything that happened.
Tumblr media
Fascinating that we now know how long the Ateala had previously settled on Somorah and I find myself almost surprised at the number of years considering, according to Dove, the Ateala only produce a child once a year and if memory serves this "once" is for the entire civilization not singular couples. Meaning within that timeframe only 3252 new Atealans have been born at this point of their history. Initially, I thought this meant that their population size must have been severely small even before Wargoth hit them but it's entirely possible through all those abandoned, or eaten, worlds that they were able hold on to a decently high population size through those that survived through their past calamities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's always a joy to get these little details as to what Somorah was like before it became a smoking crater even if it was only in the aftermath of the first Wargoth assault on the planet.
So yeah Book 2 reimagines are still doing pretty damn good.

One of the biggest problems of writing that Frasier post is that the logic of 90s comedies is not real life logic. It's not just that you can just pick which exaggerated thing to believe more (and sometimes you need to outright pick between two mutually excluding canon facts), but also the degree to which you believe anything. Which is fun for theorizing but also terrible for theorizing because to argue one way or another you need to create the fiction that the coherent narrative you are pointing out has value of truth in a universe where the value of truth is the rule of funny.
#This I'm saying about Frasier applies to others btw of course#like The Nanny suffers from those very same problems too#plus prestige tv in the early 2000s really messed with people's understanding of the extreme make-up-as-you-go quality of older tv#It's acknowledged with Cheers for the most part#But like yes Maris becomes more and more of a monster as seasons go by because the creators did take a direction after a few seasons#but seasons 1 and 2 at the very list (of Frasier I mean) are VERY undecided on whether they are going to save Niles and Maris' marriage#or take the Daphne route#And there's so much about expected genre tropes and the structure of sitcoms involved in those decisions!#the rule of funny being the main rule of a world above that of coherence and plausibility truly is a double edged sword#Like I'm confident I can write a narrative as to why Maris is actually not a monster at all in the first seasons of Frasier#And that at the very least some of the jokes are not meant to be taken seriously#but then to prove that I would have to point out all the times the narrative shows Niles mirroring Maris' bad traits#which of course are also ruled by the rule of funny!#Niles worrying about Maris ogling the pool boy while he's been ogling Daphne#Niles talking fondly of how one of their favorite past times when they were just married#was to laugh at people who wore white after labor day!#someone else could of course believe THESE are the ones played more for comedic effect#and believe the meanness of Maris as more real#(again still talking those early seasons)#and like it's not that serious#horrible people can be entertaining and comedy capitalizes on that#it's the emotional equivalent to the physical violence in old cartoons#it's not supposed to be realistic and taking it to be so is silly#on the other hand reimaging how the characters and the story could go in different directions#if the story WAS a drama is deeply compelling#but then how to convey you are just having fun theorizing the dramatic possibilities of unserious comedy#without coming across as if you were taking the comedy to be a drama#see the tough spot I'm in

I know you think I’m just using you.
The sudden re-imaging of Robert continues (first was the change in hairstyle) as he now willingly offers to help ‘mate’ (and manipulator) Sadie by using Katie as an unwilling source (all this driving Katie’s impending exit). In this episode, Sadie feigns tries to make peace with Katie (but it’s all for getting inside information on the Kings). Sadie sweet talking Robert (‘a friendly face’) by spouting her woes about Jimmy to the point Robert offers to help his mate if he can.

God has done it again, she made me want to go find a girlfriend in the wilds of a marsh somewhere and name the feathers of birds and the shells of mollusks and write naturalism books and have soft moments on the beach until one of us quietly dies on our small motorboat to leave the other shattered with longing and a dark realization that I committed the crime that I was acquitted of

THIS. For Reasons, I've been working mostly on a freshly-imaged W10 laptop this week, and the amount of Copilot I want to rip out of my environment is ridiculous. (it's got two separate installations on fresh up to date W10, and one of them pops up at login.) It's fucking pernicious.
I wish there was a way to completely OPT OUT of AI. Like you could set your ENTIRE Internet browser to NOT shove it down your throat.
When social media was getting big, you could just NOT get a Facebook or a Twitter. It was simple as that. You can't do that with AI.
Trying to find a job? It goes straight to an AI filter. Trying to look at art? Here's 100+ ai shit. Trying to look up who was in what movie from the 1980s? GOOGLE GEMINI IS HERE WITH THE COMPLETELY WRONG ANSWER!
Someone PLEASE create a way to allow people to get AI the FUCK OUT of our lives if we DO NOT WANT IT!

Summary:
One night, a monkey is born from a stone atop a tall mountain and disturbs the Jade Emperor. He gives the order to eliminate the cub, but Buddha appears before him and tells him to let him find his purpose. Monkey finds a troop of other monkeys, but his unruly nature keeps him from fitting in. One of his escapades causes a feared demon to pounce from his mountain lair and grab one of the troop's cubs for food; as a result, Monkey is banished.
To prove his worth, he trains to fight the demon. After many years, when he deems himself ready, he confronts the demon, but his training proves ineffective, and another cub is snatched. To fetch a more suitable weapon, Monkey dives into the sea realm of the Dragon King, who is about to use a glowing column to eradicate all life on the world's surface. Communicating with the column, Monkey turns it into a staff and escapes. Monkey returns to the demon's lair, defeats him, and rescues the cub. Prompted by the grateful troop, he crowns himself King of the Monkeys, but the troop's elder cautions that his staff should only be used by the gods, so the new Monkey King decides to kill 100 demons, thus gaining the right to become a god.
Eventually, he comes to a village terrorized by the Red Girl. With the endorsement of a girl named Lin, Monkey King defeats Red Girl, but the Dragon King arrives during the victory celebration to reclaim his prized weapon. After fighting him, Monkey King leaves the village; Lin, pledging herself as his assistant, tags along, even though he treats her condescendingly. Unknown to him, Lin is helping the Dragon King reclaim the staff in return for saving her drought-stricken village.
In a graveyard, Monkey King opens a portal to Hell to get to the Archive of Souls and strike his name off his Scroll of Life and Death, thus gaining immortality. King Yama, the ruler and chief judge of Hell, recognizes them as outsiders and fights them. Monkey King succeeds in erasing his name, but is only made ageless. He steals Yama's Book of Everlasting Life and learns he must eat a peach from the Orchard of Everlasting Life to gain full immortality. The Dragon King subtly guides Monkey King and Lin to a peach tree laced with an intoxicating poison, but ends up getting fed one himself, foiling the plan.
After realizing the peaches are fake, Monkey King learns from the book that Wangmu, the divine Queen Mother, brews an immortality elixir for the gods. He and Lin infiltrate the Jade Palace's pharmacy to create a sample of the elixir. Wangmu catches them in the act, but Monkey King consumes the potion, thus becoming fully immortal. Although Lin has several chances to steal the staff, she repeatedly returns to help Monkey King, who also demonstrates that despite his rude behavior, he cares about her too. Monkey King and Lin flee the Heavens, and in a following heart-to-heart, Lin admits that she longs to make a difference in the world and tries encouraging Monkey King to do the same.
When Monkey King remains aloof and boisterous, Lin outwits him and delivers the staff to the Dragon King. The Dragon King reneges on his deal and prepares to drown the world in a mega-storm, but Monkey King challenges and attacks him. Realizing her mistake, Lin enables Monkey King to beat the Dragon King, but Monkey King becomes power-drunk, and Buddha prepares to intervene. Wanting to give Monkey King another chance, Lin is allowed to act as Buddha's voice and challenges Monkey King to leap off Buddha's hand to win rulership over Heaven, or else suffer a period of penance. Monkey King fails and is imprisoned in a mountain. Before the mountain is fully closed off, Lin is allowed to say goodbye to Monkey King, who finally admits how important Lin has become to him. She leaves him his staff for company.
Five hundred years later, Monkey King is freed from his prison by a monk, a pig, and a river spirit at Buddha's behest. They invite him to join them on a journey to the West, to which he over-happily agrees.

I noticed that there was suddenly money in my paypal account so I went to go thank the person who donated it to me, but it turns out it was from a class action lawsuit from a computer program I bought 2 or 3 years ago to fix my other broken laptop
"This company used fake images and misleading ads to scare people into fixing their computer" well that makes perfect sense considering it didn't work at all lmao

Mermaids and Sirens at this point have kinda been almost morphed into one and generally speaking I can look past it,
It is what it is. You wanna give your mermaid those siren traits sure
However there is a very positive thing about separating the two and not making them same which is you do that and you could have both creatures in the same story with out confusing people.
Siren's having originally been depicted as beautiful bird-women, which would make it all the easier for them to perch on large rocks or simply fly over head and get sailor's attention as they sang.
Side note; my honest assumption and view of the a Siren's song was that part of what made it so alluring and irresistible was simply like some kind of magical charm/enchantment to it. Person of course hearing/being sang to about whatever they desire most I suppose which enchants the listener unable to ignore. Looking like beautiful women to catch attention probably only helping their cause but yeh (add on sailors who have likely been deprived of any female companion ship for a long time,) and maybe because *Magic* is why the siren's song tends to only affect men.
Equally important is also not conflating them with Harpies, which tend to be depicted as far less attractive creatures, filthy. Scavengers and thieves that will still your food, insult you, tbh probably kill you too if given the chance
