yk i realized i havent thought much about jay and ava’s relationship with each other when ava was alive. surprisingly
but like. jay always looking up to her big sister as the ideal role model, someone she has to immolate, someone she should be. ava looking at her little sister trying to follow in her footsteps instead of being herself.
do you think her stomach sort of dropped every time jay flaunted a near perfect score on some navy test. do you think she tried to subtly push jay away, tried to tell her she could do what she wanted and didn’t necessarily need to follow after her. do you think she felt a little sick every time she saw jay straightening her hair.
somewhere inside, a piece of her soul chipped whenever jay showed signs of ava. signs of jayson’s idea of a perfect daughter. jay never picked up on any of it. she always felt that sort of sad twang in ava when they were alone and talking about their futures, but that big boasting pride was so overwhelming it drowned it out
jay saw her perfect big sister with their father’s love and wanted to be just like her, ava saw her unsure little sister getting in over her head and wanted her to be herself. its late but. thinking about the ferin sisters
#ava was loud and proud and all for the navy. but she was molded that way#she didn’t start like that#and growing into the navy’s golden child was certainly not filled with love and support and positive reinforcement#ava was loud and proud and all for the navy but she remembered what it was like. how it felt.#the pressure she felt she could have cracked under had she not turned to. well. fucking with personal relationships.#and she didn’t want that for jay. of course not. they’re close in age but that’s still her little sister and she’s supposed to protect her#and no matter how loud and proud ava was. no matter that she’d never let that facade drop [especially in the face of her admiring sister]#she tried what she could to push her to a different path. hopefully a better one.#man. the navy and ferins really fucked with these girls#jrwi riptide#jay ferin#ava ferin#this could very well be another one of those posts i have to review tomorrow because its 5am lmao#but hopefully i got my point across#finch favourites

garry and jenna trying to comfort ib who recently woke up from her nightmare is doing numbers on my brain actually 😭
#i read your tag yomiel - i love that. i really love that#i watched the remake version of ib recently and the nightmare is portrayed differently .. and its more on ib's parents looking for her#while being chased by the horrors#i really like that. it reinforces the notion that ib just wants to go home and she had enough of this all even if she seems so neutral face#garry and jenna trying to keep her spirits high - garry giving her his candy and jenna being her bubbly self to make her smile#and i believe from that moment ib would have that ... instant connection with them that they're someone she can rely on#like imagine garry abd jenna huddled near her checking if shes okay - and for a brief moment she almost sees her actual mom and dad in her#like parents checking if their child is okay#its like that scene in coraline where her Other parents are checking on her before she sleeps#that kind of comfort that ib is experiencing with garry and jenna but she starts to “see” her own parents on them#its so sweet. actually. and they're in the safe room so the adults would want nothing more than her to recover before they can proceed#yeah.. ;-; much to think about#i would like to draw that.. actually#thank you for your tags yomi i really loved reading that ^^#jil's peer review#ough imagining that scene play out while the song memory plays omg omg tears on my eyes 💚💚

I think the reason win or loose is a pretty decent show is because, for most people, theres at least one character that you can just say “DAMN I get that”
Like, it’s not perfect and it’s got some ups and downs but I honestly felt that Kai episode so much…
#As someone who plays way too much football#I felt for her#And the way her dad was portrayed was really relatable as well#Cuz he loves Kai#But also but reinforces the idea that she can’t make any mistakes#And as soon as she does make a mistake#She feels like the entire game was her fault#BDHSJSBSJ I FELT THAT SO MUCH#I don’t think I’ve ever actually related to a Character that much before#So yeah#Pretty good show#Not as good as dream productions tho#That was a fookin masterpiece#Win or loose#Review#i guess

💦🌧️ Rainy Day Adventures 🌧️💦
Featuring Rexspecs Large / Big Horn Blue

I’ve been on the fence about getting Mandana goggles for a while.
For the most part, our lifestyle doesn’t require them.
The only brand I would trust are expensive.
Mandana is great with novel experiences but she has a tendency to develop gear shyness when she has to wear things for extended time periods so gear training is something we have to revisit often.
I wasn’t keen on the idea of adding a one-use piece of gear. The one situation I would want to use them is in off leash areas with brush but until recently we didn’t have areas like that. Now that we have this new Sniffspot near us we had to really reconsider. Some of you may remember when Mandana tore her cornea on a low hanging twig. We were incredibly lucky it was a very shallow cut and she was able to recover completely. I’m not comfortable taking that risk again.
We got the Rexspecs yesterday and had two training sessions. She was really receptive but I wasn’t sure if I was going to have her wear them today. I decided to try it out and I’m glad I did. Once she was running around they didn’t bother her at all. I thought maybe the rain on her goggles would annoy her but she actually seemed less bothered than having rain in her eyes. At one point she ran face first into a wire fence that neither of us saw (similar to the one pictured below but more hidden) and I was so glad she had them on.

She got to meet the owner of this Sniffspot location which was the highlight of her visit. She also got to chase some deer. She spooked them and they took off but she wasn’t barking or harassing them and although her recall wasn’t impressively perfect (she didn’t turn on a dime) it was definitely satisfactory considering the situation and how we’ve never trained for that. One of the purposes of coming out to this Sniffspot is to do some off leash training so it was a good opportunity for us. When we got home Hubbins gave her a bath. Now she’s all clean and ready for a nap!

If you want to make a choose-your-adventure Musical video game: Hell fucking yeah!!!
If you decide to only make all the songs mid and very safe in a "first local theater project" way: Sure. A style is a style. It's your project and there's room to grow.
If a few characters given whole songs aren't passable singers: Okay. Going for the more realistic "if people who wouldn't normally sing are forced to sing, they're not going to be great" thing is fine. Can be charming or funny.
But if you give the MAIN character a classic all-black-and-leather Rocker look then assign her a vocalist who has NO power or stand-out qualities—no belting, no forte, no growling, no screams, nothing—and instead sounds like a reinforced pretty-voice school chorus member: Wtf are you even doing?
#video games#stray gods#reviews no one asked for#i AM a reinforced pretty voice school chorus member ok i know what i mean

also like. even if literally every single Palestinian were some murderously homophobic caricature, it still wouldn't justify what the State of Israel is doing. having bad views on queer life doesn't justify apartheid and genocide. like, obviously many Palestinians are themselves queer and many non-queer Palestinians are wonderful allies, but even if that weren't the case, it still wouldn't be an argument against fighting for their liberation
I'm very tired of this "queer college students should stop supporting Palestine, they'd kill you there!" I watched a hijabi ask a trans man, "but what name do you want to go by?" A butch giving a woman their hoodie so that she could keep her hair covered after the cops took her scarf. Muslim girls making sure the lesbian couple got through the system together. Religious men making sure green haired protestors got out safe. A Palestinian girl with an ex-southern baptist fiance, who definitely isn't a practicing Muslim, whose parents were raising hell for her. I don't want to hear it. Solidarity forever, free Palestine.
#sorry to move it out of the tags without peer review#i just feel very strongly that you don't have to 'earn' not having crimes against humanity done to you#and i think it's really easy to accidentally reinforce the idea that rights are something you earn by being good#when in fact that is entirely antithetical to the notion of rights#anyway#this isn't a disagreement per se#just a shift in emphasis#solidarity forever#from the river to the sea palestine will be free

Some cute Malleus facts from the Pajama Bday vignette:
He loiters everywhere but thinks Ramshackle really is unmatched. He's a bit disappointed he can't go there in the dead of night.
He reviews the day's lessons every night.
He talks to his gargoyles lmfao
The dragon statue in his room is a gargoyle of his own creation and is his masterpiece.
He lights up an incense that smells like the forest and makes him feel like he's back home.
He goes around the school to take gargoyles back to his clubroom to do repair work on them for free.
He writes in the school feedback that they should reinforce the floors strong enough to withstand 50 gargoyles.
It's hard for him to wake up in the morning because he's a nocturnal fae.
He has a very efficient morning routine because he uses magic to do everything at the same time, but he loses track of time when he has to choose what color he wants his makeup to be.
Although black is his preferred color because it's Briar Valley's symbol of nobility, he doesn't shy away at the idea of using red lipstick because the Thorn Fairy prefers that for herself, or violet just to be different.
He yawns loudly, but worries that his grandmother would scold him if he lets himself be seen in that kind of state.
Generally, the confirmation we got really is that he's not just "a natural" where everything just goes perfectly for him. He puts great effort behind the scenes, not just in his hobbies but also in academics and his appearance as well.
This really did a lot to present him to us as someone relatable and works hard behind his perfect persona!

PART 2 : STUDY BREAK (ORAL EXAM)
_______________________________________________________
It’s close to midnight when Seungcheol finally shows up.
He’s ten minutes late, again, with his hoodie pulled low and his hair still damp from a shower. You pretend you don’t notice the way he smells—like soap and warm skin and something a little too clean for the things running through your head.
“You already started without me?” he asks, throwing his bag on the chair across from mine.
“You were late,” you say flatly, not looking up.
He laughs, the deep kind that vibrates low in his throat. “Someone’s cranky.”
“I’m focused.”
“Mm. We’ll see how long that lasts.”
The words are offhand, but his gaze lingers. There’s something about the way he says it—how casual his voice is while his eyes roam over you like he already knows what’s going to happen.
You cross your legs under the table, gripping your pen a little tighter.
He takes his seat. You start reviewing. At first, it’s normal—terms, definitions, case studies. But then…
“Define operant conditioning,” he says, leaning in just slightly.
“Reinforcement or punishment used to increase or decrease a behavior,” you reply automatically.
“Good girl.”
You freeze.
He says it so softly you're not sure you heard him right. But when you glance up, he’s looking at you—really looking.
“You—what did you just say?”
Seungcheol smiles. “Just giving feedback. Positive reinforcement.”
“Don’t do that.”
“Do what? Call you a good girl?” His voice drops. “Does it bother you?”
“It’s distracting.”
“Interesting,” he says, folding his arms behind his head. “Because it looked like you liked it.”
Your pulse kicks up. The room is too quiet. Too private. It’s the end of the semester, and most of campus is asleep or wired on caffeine in another building. We’re in a back corner study room, half the lights off, no one walking by.
You should shut this down. You should get back to your notes. But then his foot slides under the table and touches yours. Light. Testing.
“Want to play a game?” he murmurs.
Your hand stills. Your mouth is dry. “No games. We’re behind.”
“Then let’s multitask.” His eyes flash. “For every correct answer, I reward you. For every mistake…” He smiles slowly. “You get punished.”
You know you should say no. Should roll your eyes and go back to reviewing. But your thighs are already pressing together under the table, breath catching in your throat.
You glance up. “How are you defining ‘reward’ and ‘punish’?”
His gaze drags down your face, your chest, your legs.
“Why don’t we find out?”
You swallow hard and nod once.
He leans back in his chair, arms folded, legs wide.
He smiles like he’s been waiting for this.
“Question one: What’s the difference between positive and negative reinforcement?”
You blink, recite from memory. “Positive reinforcement adds a stimulus to increase behavior. Negative reinforcement removes something to increase behavior.”
His smile deepens. “Good girl.”
The words slide under your skin like silk.
You’re not prepared for the way his foot slips under the table, brushing your calf, sliding up, slow and deliberate. You suck in a breath.
“That’s your reward,” he says. “Next.”
You barely have time to recover.
“Question two: Define punishment in behavioral terms.”
You hesitate, fingers tightening around your pen. “Punishment… decreases behavior. Positive punishment adds an unpleasant stimulus. Negative removes a positive one.”
His foot presses between your legs, nudging your knees apart.
“That hesitation cost you.”
You stiffen.
He leans forward, dark eyes locked on yours. “Don’t close them. Keep your legs where I put them.”
You obey, your breath catching when his toe presses lightly against your inner thigh.
“Third question. Define fixed ratio schedule.”
You’re panting now, trying to think. “It’s… reinforcement given after a specific number of responses.”
“Correct.”
This time it’s not his foot—it’s his hand, sliding under the table, fingers skimming the bare skin just above your knee. You’re hyper aware of every brush, every shift of his knuckles.
“Shorts?” he murmurs. “Or skirt?”
You meet his gaze, throat dry. “Skirt.”
“Fuck.” He closes his eyes briefly, like he's holding himself back. “You really are trying to test me.”
His fingers drift higher.
“Fourth question. Describe the concept of learned helplessness.”
You try. You swear you try. But all you can focus on is the heat of his palm against your thigh, creeping higher, tracing the crease where your leg meets your hip.
“W–when an individual… is exposed to inescapable negative stimuli, they stop trying to escape, even when a solution is present.”
His fingers pause just short of your underwear.
“Very good,” he murmurs. “So smart.”
You’re aching. Slick between your thighs. And he hasn’t even really touched you yet.
His thumb strokes along the waistband of your panties. The featherlight touch makes your breath hitch.
“Next one,” he says. “Ready?”
You nod, swallowing hard.
“Name two famous behaviorists.”
“Skinner and… Watson.”
“Good girl,” he whispers, and this time he rewards you with a single, slow stroke over your clothed core. You twitch in your seat, biting your lip to keep from making a sound.
“Oh, you liked that.” His fingers repeat the motion. “You’re so wet already, baby. I haven’t even done anything yet.”
You shift in your seat, thighs tightening. “Cheol, we can’t—”
“We can,” he cuts in, voice a command now. “No one’s coming in this late. And you’re the one begging for attention with those pretty little skirts.”
“I wasn’t—”
He cuts you off with a soft, dark laugh, leaning in. “You wore lace under that skirt to a study session. You wanted to be touched.”
Your cheeks burn. He’s right.
And when his fingers slip past the lace this time—bare skin to bare heat—you forget how to breathe.
He groans, the sound deep and quiet. “Fuck. You're soaked.”
“Cheol—”
“I told you.” He sinks a single finger in, slow and teasing. “Get the answers right, and I’ll give you what you want. Get them wrong…”
He pulls his hand away. Cold. Empty.
“…and you’ll have to beg.”
You whimper, chasing his hand instinctively.
The smirk he gives you is pure sin.
“Last question. Get this right, and I’ll make you come right here, right now.”
You stare at him, shaking slightly, thighs slick and trembling.
“Define conditioned stimulus.”
You open your mouth. Nothing comes out. His hand hovers just above your cunt, waiting.
“One…”
You panic. “A—a previously neutral stimulus… that, after association with the unconditioned one, triggers the same response.”
His hand sinks back down. Two fingers this time. Crooked just right.
“Correct.”
And just like that, you fall to pieces—back arched, breath ragged, his name on your lips like a secret sin.
You try to stay quiet, really, you do.
But when his fingers start pumping in and out, slow and steady, curling just right, it’s impossible to keep still on his lap. Your hips roll instinctively, chasing the friction, grinding down as your thighs tremble around him.
“Fuck, you’re needy,” Seungcheol growls against your neck, voice barely above a whisper. “Dripping all over my hand in a goddamn study room.”
You bite your bottom lip, tasting skin, trying to suppress the moan clawing its way up your throat.
His free hand grabs a fistful of your hair and tugs your head back just enough so he can watch your face as he fucks you with his fingers. “Let them hear if you want,” he says, eyes dark. “Or be a good girl and stay quiet. Either way, you’re not leaving this chair until I feel you come.”
You dig your nails into his hoodie as your body shakes, that coil in your stomach twisting tighter and tighter. Every press of his thumb against your clit sends sparks flying. You’re soaked, whimpering into his shoulder, thighs clenching around his wrist as he works you through it.
“Cheol—please—”
“That’s it,” he mutters. “Come for me, sweetheart. Be loud. Be messy.”
You do. You fall apart right there in his lap, teeth sinking into his collarbone to muffle the broken gasp that spills from your lips as your orgasm hits hard and fast, making your whole body go tense and weightless at once.
By the time you catch your breath, your panties are ruined, and his fingers are glistening.
“You made a mess,” he smirks, sucking one finger into his mouth with a filthy groan. “We’re not done.”
He doesn’t give you time to recover. Doesn’t let you fix your hair or adjust your skirt. He just grabs your bag, presses a kiss to your cheek like you’re some innocent girl he’s walking home, and guides you out of the library with his hand on your lower back like he owns you.
When you finally reach his dorm, he doesn’t even turn on the lights. He locks the door, pins you to it, and kisses you like he’s been waiting all semester to ruin you.
And he does.
He strips you slow—fingers tracing every inch of skin he uncovers like he’s studying you now—and when he finally peels your panties off completely, he brings them to his nose with a groan, then pockets them like a trophy.
“You’re gonna ride me,” he says, voice rough as he pulls his hoodie off and sinks onto the edge of his bed, jeans undone, cock thick and hard in his fist. “Nice and slow. Show me how much you really learned tonight.”
You climb onto him, thighs sore, cunt still throbbing from earlier. His hands grip your hips as you sink down, and the stretch steals your breath. He’s thick. Hot. Heavy. Every inch of him fills you up perfectly.
You start slow, bouncing gently, rolling your hips the way he taught you to move, but Seungcheol clearly has other plans.
“Not like that,” he snaps, slapping your ass. “You teased me all week wearing those short skirts. Begging for my attention in those tight little study group outfits. You don’t get to take it slow.”
He grabs your wrists, pulling them behind your back and holding them with one hand, while the other grabs your throat—not tight, but firm enough to make you moan.
“Now fuck me like you mean it.”
And you do.
You ride him hard, your thighs burning, tits bouncing, moans filling the dark room. His cock hits every sensitive spot, thick and perfect, dragging over your walls until you’re crying his name like a prayer.
“Touch yourself,” he growls. “Let me see how pretty you look falling apart on my cock.”
Your fingers find your clit, and with just a few messy circles, you’re unraveling again—legs shaking, cunt clenching tight around him as you come with a sharp cry.
“Good fucking girl,” he groans, and then he’s flipping you onto your back, hooking your legs over his shoulders and slamming back in, fucking you deep, hard, relentless. “One more,” he pants. “Give me one more.”
Your head lolls back, brain fogged with pleasure, body wrecked and begging. “Cheol—please, I can’t—”
“You can,” he says, biting down on your collarbone. “You will.”
You come again—shaking, sobbing, nails digging into his back as he finally lets go with a low, guttural growl, spilling inside you and holding you tight as he rides out every wave.
After, he doesn’t speak for a while.
Just pulls you into his chest, kisses your forehead, and strokes your hair as you lie tangled in the sheets, spent and dripping.
“Guess we’re doing another study session tomorrow,” he murmurs.
And the smirk in his voice makes you shiver all over again.

Arw you really the author John Green? The same person who wrote The Fault in Our Stars and Looking for Alaska?
Yes, but I published one of those books 19 (?!?!?!) years ago and the other 12 (!?!?!?!?) years ago. What have I been up to since then?
My brother Hank and I started Good.store, which delivers high-quality socks, coffee, and soap to your home and donates 100% of its profit to charity. Through good store, we've raised over $7,500,000 to support efforts to radically reduce maternal mortality in Sierra Leone, where as recently as 2019, one in seventeen women could expect to die in pregnancy or childbirth.
(In fact, technically I am here on tumblr as an unpaid intern for the awesome coffee club, which you should really sign up for if you like ethically sourced coffee that tastes delicious and doesn't enrich billionaires.)
I wrote the novel Turtles All the Way Down and then had a little existential crisis and wrote a nonfiction book called The Anthropocene Reviewed, the latter of which is my first book for adults and my first attempt to write as myself.
I helped produce made a movie adaptation (streaming now on Max!) of Turtles all the Way Down.
I helped raise my kids and supported my spouse as she wrote her book You Are An Artist and created a PBS show about art called The Art Assignment.
I ran the educational media company Complexly and the merch company dftba.com while my brother had cancer.
I bought around 2% of a fourth-tier English football team called AFC Wimbledon. Wimbledon are different from most football clubs because they are owned by their fans, each of whom gets one vote in the club's leadership regardless of how much money they put into the club.
I became obsessed with tuberculosis, the world's deadliest infectious disease (it will kill over a million people this year despite being curable), and how TB both exemplifies and reinforces human-built structures of injustice, which is the subject of a book I'm writing that will come out next year.
#what i've been doing#since a lot of people are new here#which is a little terrifying#but we'll probably get through it#and if not i can always deactivate this account and start a new one#as one does#john green#coffee company

2023-000agsddg...
Without any further context, this inconsistent and digressive fiction blog presents its first (and possibly only) movie review. What the heck guys?
Barbie (2023)
Of the movies I have seen that are based on best-selling and/or long-standing brands, Barbie stood out to me as one of the strangest, most compelling and most fun. It’s full of hilariously absurd humour peppered throughout a story that I found to be both thought-provoking and emotionally satisfying. The knowledge of Barbie’s existing brand presence might cause you to assume that the movie can only be enjoyed by women or by young girls but I disagree. Barbie is a movie for everyone. At its heart is a beautifully delivered message about the complicated and contradictory nature of being a woman in the present day. As a whole, Barbie reminds us that, no matter how long you’ve gone without changing, no matter what your purpose you think you were made for, there’s always space to imagine something new. While these themes do come through rather heavy-handedly, I think that’s necessary. They are being given the volume and importance that they both need and, honestly, deserve. In summary, Barbie is a fun and touching movie that carries its important message well and I strongly recommend it to anyone.
#This is probably what the kids are calling sideblog content but I don’t have one of those#I think this probably just reinforces the idea that I have no idea what I’m doing#which is the whole point anyway#for the most part#I’m putting my words out there so they get out of my head#but i don’t think this movie will be gone anytime soon#Barbie#Barbie 2023#Movie review#Out of character post#Heavily edited#this paragraph took me three days to write#cries

i didnt get too much into academic theory when talking about slow damage but theres a pretty large section of the sweet pool review where i go into horror as a method of revealing social anxieties and the social function of horror. particularly- how sweet pools parasites and the categories of osu and mesu both critique and take on elements of misogyny within society. its the kind of thing i regularly do for college and i think is a super obvious examination. but i feel literally insane writing for youtube because theres so much extra stuff i have to contextualize here
#caws#review posting#like we gotta talk death of the author we gotta talk about horror as allegory we gotta talk about horror as reflective of social anxieties#and horror as a way of both reinforcing and challenging hegemonic norms. except i dont use the word hegemonic#i wanna use the word hegemonic though#we gotta then use all that to talk feminist theory and allegory#it just keeps going
