The roper! These stalactite- looking tentacle monsters are about twice the size of the average human. These sticky strands are strong enough to yank even an orc a full 50 feet in a few seconds, and in PF2e these are actually really intelligent creatures. They've got nothing to do and struggle to move, so they spend thier time thinking and philosophizing. These curious creatures will strike up conversations with victims to argue philosophy or hear stories, and clever people can sometimes be kept as pets for years! You'll want to eventually escape before you're consumed though. It's sentimental enough to keep a momento of your time together, but eventually it's going to get hungry enough to eat you.

So, I had only started watching Teen Wolf back in the day because of Tumblr posts and gifs that were flooding my feed. I can't say I discovered Tyler Hoechlin because of Teen Wolf, because I'd seen him in other things, but certainly he caught my attention again.

I didn't think I would start watching anything else because of Tumblr... But then, I guess because the new season of 9-1-1 is starting soon, all these 9-1-1 posts started. Specifically the Buddie gifs and posts (Buck and Eddie). So I figure, "what the hell, let's see what this is about..." It's a good show, but then Eddie arrives in season 2 and I am... well... charmed is what we'll say.

Of course, once I looked into the actor, Ryan Guzman, what do I see but that he was in "Everybody Wants Some" with Tyler Hoechlin!

Just look at these two adorable people.

I can't say that this connects 9-1-1 to Teen Wolf, but for some reason, it made my being pulled to watching 9-1-1 by Tumblr feel justified somehow.

Question about your recovery AU, was Roper and Raffs still infected? I was wondering what their situation was

Ah okay so! For these two it will be different Roper will not be infected, or not heavily at least, compared to the rest. It'll be more like a subtle change in his eyes and skin texture but he's overall pretty fine.

Raffs on the other hand, He will be pretty infected, but because he was pulled out of the diving bell pretty quickly thanks to the military team getting there in time, thanks to Roper, it didn't change too much. He looks a bit more like uh

Face remains the same but his skin is covered in these bulbous, pussy bumps and it's a struggle for him to walk anywhere, so Brodie has to support him or he gets wheeled around.

Drawtober Day 8 of my RPG Monsters Prompt List Pt 2!

Day 8 is "Roper!" Shout out to the guy from OMGcon who asks me every year if I've finally drawn one! THIS ONE'S FOR YOU, DUDE!

I imagine young Ropers are more mobile with little stalactite crab legs and can actively chase after prey whereas older Ropers tend to hunker down and implant themselves, moving much more slowly.

Sooooo I have been painting a lot these last couple of months, but have I actually been posting anywhere but Etsy? Noooooo. SO we are finally catching up on products that I have completed before the year is over!

This is the last roper out of two that I have sold, and it comes with its "normal" counterpart. These are considered large as they would sit on a 50mm base.

You might look at the peryton on the left and think it looks like a 5 ft (1.5 m) tall deer-bird that wants to eat your heart. That's because it's an accurate statement, but look at that grin!

On the right, the Roper! A 9 ft (2.7 m) monster with 50 foot (15.2 m) tentacles strong enough to pull a full grown orc half that distance in seconds. It also gets 6 at a time, and can infinitely regrow them almost instantly.

Ropers were ambush hunters that evolved in the underworld. They were favored by the drow god Ghaunadaur.

“You see, stalac-tites grow down from the ceiling, while stalag-mites reach — AAHHHHHHHHH —” — An explanation is cut short by a roper attack.

They took the appearance of stalagmites and would wait for a living creature to draw close.

When this happened, the roper quickly lashed out with tendrils extruded from its body that wrapped around its target, sapping the creature's strength. The roper then drew its prey into its fang-filled mouth to consume. As a roper never knew when its next meal was coming, it often slew and ate more than it could possibly consume at once.

The larval forms of ropers were called piercers, (not to be confused with the mollusks of the same name and similar behaviors.)
