I was listening to Trolls 3’s soundtrack, like any sane person does, and came up with this idea and I’m actually so proud of how this turned out like omg!!!

Here’s the final cast I came up with!!

JD tells Branch about their parents

During a camping trip as Branch asked John Dory about their parents that John Dory had waited for years.

John Dory is sitting on a log as he is looking at book which is a family photo album. He looks at the photos of him and his brothers, and keeps turning the page every time until he stops at one with a photo of him, his brothers, and two trolls. The male troll had light cyan skin, John Dory's teal hair, and yellow eyes. The female troll had cyan skin, Branch's blue hair, and blue eyes.

The troll couple were his parents, Rowan Basil and Rose Willow. They were everything to him and his brothers, John Dory sadly sighs as he misses them. He hears a twig snap as he turns his attention to the source and saw his brothers, Poppy, and Viva "Hi, JD" Viva said "Are you alright, John Dory?" Bruce asked.

"I'm fine, I'm just...looking at our family photos" John Dory replied as his brothers come to look at photos and Branch's eyes widen at the sight of the troll couple "Is that...Mom and Dad?" he asked "Yes, it is" Clay replied as Poppy and Viva joined them. "Your parents look familiar as if I've seen them before" Viva said.

"Our mother, Rose Willow is friends with Queen Sunny, Poppy and Viva's mother. And our father, Rowan Basil is King Peppy's right-hand troll" John Dory explained "Now, I remember: Rose Willow was my babysitter when Mom and Dad go off on a date or something" Viva explained.

Branch glances at a photo of his parents, brothers, and him as an egg then something struck him "Hey, John Dory...I have a question that I wanted to be answered for all these years...What happened to Mom and Dad?" Branch asked. John Dory became hesitant before replying "When it was last time you asked that question?"

"To Grandma when I was little and she told me that to wait until I'm older" Branch said "Well, it's a good thing, she did because you were too young to understand what happened to Mom and Dad" Bruce added. As John Dory began "Years ago, when you were just a baby, just six months old..."

(Flashback)

Young John Dory was practicing his band song and choreography as he is unaware of a bergen approaching "I was so busy with by practice, I didn't hear my parents trying to warn me" John Dory said as Rowan and Rose Willow saw the bergen approaching their oldest son "John Dory! Watch out!" Rowan shouted as he and his wife rushed towards him, but the young JD didn't listen to him and the bergen is getting closer "Watch out, son!" Rose Willow shouted.

John Dory turns around as he saw his parents then the bergen as was about to grab him until his father shoved him out of the way as he and his wife were grabbed instead "Mom! Dad!" young JD shouted as he extends his hair for his parents to grab on as they did.

"Hold on, I got you" young JD said "John Dory..." Rose Willow said "Don't worry, I'll get you out!" young John Dory exclaimed "John Dory" Rowan said "What?" young JD replied "Just let go" Rowan said. "What? But, I need you guys, so do my brothers, and so does Branch" young JD protested "Your grandma will take care of you and your brothers" Rowan replied.

"John Dory...take of your brothers, do you promise?" Rose Willow asked as the young John Dory is bursting tears "I promise" he replied "Here's something to remember me" Rowan said as he removes his face goggles and tossed it to John Dory as he catches it "Tell your brothers that we love them so much" Rose Willow said "I will" young JD said as his parents let go of his hair. John Dory watches the bergen walk away with his parents as he glances his father's face goggles then he began walk back to the pod.

At the pod...

John Dory arrived at the pod as Grandma Rosiepuff and his brothers saw him, they were happy to see him until they saw his sad expression "What's wrong?" Grandma Rosiepuff asked "Are those Dad's goggles?" Spruce asked "Where's Mom and Dad?" Clay asked. John Dory answered as he explained what happened and his brothers became heartbroken as Grandma Rosiepuff comforts her grandsons despite being heartbroken.

The brothers were asleep in their beds as they are woke up by Branch's cry. John Dory got out of his bed and pulls Branch out of his crib "You miss Mom and Dad, don't you?" JD said as Branch continued crying which he takes it as a yes. "I miss them too...I wanted to save them" he explained as Branch stopped crying and listen to his oldest brother "but they told me take care of my brothers especially you" JD said as he bursts into tears and Branch placed his baby hands on JD's face then JD brings Branch closer to him and snuggles him "And I will keep their promise, Grandma and the four of you are what I have left, and I will make our parents proud, Baby Brother" JD said as Branch smiles and goes to sleep.

(Flashback ends)

"Then that day when Brozone broke up, I felt like that I had failed our parents' promise and blamed myself for all of this. A failure as a band leader, a brother, a son, and a grandson. For years, I've been living with that guilt, and I let Mom, and Dad, even Grandma down as all of this is my fault" John Dory explained as he bursts into tears and sniffs then wiped his tears away. His three younger brothers comfort him as Branch stood there in shock from everything that John Dory told him before replying.

"I can relate to that, John Dory" he said as everyone looked at him and Poppy knew what Branch is going to say "I know what is like to lose someone you love and blame yourself for this...When I was a little kid, I was in the song, I didn't hear my grandma trying to warn me. She saved me from being taken away from the bergen chef and gets taken instead. I was heartbroken when she was took away that I lost my true colors and became gray. For 20 years, I lived with trauma and believing it was my fault for Grandma's death" Branch explained as he wipes his tears.

His brothers were surprised by this, Branch had already told them what happened to her, but they didn't knew he was responsible for her death. John Dory placed his hand on Branch's shoulder "No it's not...It's not your fault grandma died" he said as Branch listens to John Dory "Grandma sacrificed herself to save you so you can live. And, I now realized that our parents' death is not my fault either, they sacrificed themselves so I can live too, if weren't for them you and I wouldn't be here today" he explained as Branch smiles then hugs John Dory and John Dory is touched by this gesture as he hugs him back then Bruce, Clay, and Floyd joined in.

Poppy and Viva were bursting into tears and trying to hold their sobbing "This is the most beautiful family moment, I've ever seen" Poppy said "Me too" Viva added. "Let's take a photo to remember this" Bruce suggested as everyone gather around to get ready for photo. Viva readies the camera then she quickly runs to the group as the camera took their photo.

John Dory steps out of the group and approaches the camera, the photo prints out as he pulls it out to examine it "Is it good?" Viva asked as John Dory gave her a thumbs-up "It's perfect" he replied.

As he looks at the description of the photo: he, Branch, and Poppy were sitting on the ground. Viva, Clay, Bruce, and Floyd were behind them. The photo reminds him of another like this, he picks up the family album and founds the photo he is looking for. It was him, his brothers, and his parents.

He, his mom, and Bruce/Spruce were on the floor. Clay, Floyd, and his dad were sitting on the couch as he was holding Branch. "I'm made you very proud, Mom and Dad, and we are now looking out for each other, I wished you met Bruce's kids, you would be more than excited to become grandparents" John Dory said.

In your moonlight AU what do Branch's brothers markings look like? What was Brandy's reaction to Bruce's markings?

Very tricky!

Giving it some thought, I think all of the Bros have that hint of filigree that Branch has, but not to that extent (Branch's rendition is rather artistic)

All of them would have some sort of plant motif tho

For JD, I imagine something like ivy vine, all curling around his shoulders and other joints, spread across his back as if growing from a single root

Lots of curls and swirls, something like cross between those two:

Bruce's wouldn't be as symetrical; out of all the Brothers', only JD, Branch and Clay have symetry in their markings (ie the 'core' of them is centered between their shoulderblades or at the center of their lower back, from which the rest of the pattern spread out)

Bruce's 'core' would probably start at the high point of his left shoulder, then spread heavily down that arm, then the rest of the patterning would 'bloom' across his higher back down to his right hip, and to minor extent across his chest

All his limbs would bear spatterings of the same design, but they would be rather removed from the main root of it

Honestly it amused me to imagine him having like, hibiscus like markings, similar to that which you can see on 'Hawaiian' t-shirts- but honestly a lily in bloom would have served him way better XD

His markings definitelly look more like a purposeful tattoo- and when they met, Brandy probably took some time to convince it was natural and not this Troll just telling tall tales XD

Clay's patterning are like willow branches; no fancy curling or twisting, they resemble stripes more than anything else, sweeping from his lower back up and across his shoulders and arms, the long leaves complimenting the illusion.

Floyd's markings are similar to that of Bruce in that they start in unconventional 'core', in that they start at his right hip; the main 'design' definitelly being that of a rose- though in its simplicity, it looks like leopard or cheetah markings - with spattering of rose buds all over his limbs and shoulders- but the main eye-catcher would have been thorny vines wrapping around his right leg and all over his tail, reaching across his back and shoulders like creeping tendrils.

Out of all 5 of the brothers, only John Dory and Bruce would have been comfortable with their markings, growing up, as both would have been seen as pretty and intricate enough to catch an eye of a potential mate, and very attractive to a Pop Trolls' eye.

Clay's, similar to Poppy's, would be seen as too harsh; not simple, certainly not, but very rigid, with none of the desired fancy and 'bubbliness' Pop Trolls look for.

Floyd's, ironically enough, would have ranked rather low on the attractive scale; yes, he has the rose in full bloom, but most of his patterning is dominant with thorny vines/tendrils- not something that would be seen as a positive trait.

Branch honestly doesn't have any complicated feelings about his own markings- they are there, and they are too visible, so he considers them nuisance for that fact alone; it would take Poppy's interest and him starting to move past his Grandmother's death for him to really take closer look at his patterning and find beauty in it- and find the beauty in others' markings.

He just never really paid attention to them in that way XD

(Though when Poppy so boldly started posing and strutting for him, he couldn't help but be drawn into watching her, even as he was not completely sure why. Branch is just a soft goober honestly XD he is attracted to Poppy's confidence subconsciously, and on instinctual level he knows that's what her markings represent)

FOR THE HALLOWEEN PROMPTS ,,

“your costume looks great.”

He reached out and rang the doorbell, the chiming sound followed by the soft thumb of footsteps from within. The door opened, revealing Seamus inside, who did a double take when he spotted Jim.

Oh no was the concealment stone flaking, was some part of his troll form expo–

“Dude sick,” a wide grin split Seamus’ face “Your costume looks great,”

Relief washed over him, Jim returning Seamus’ smile with one of his own  “Thanks, yours looks awesome to,”

Seamus tipped his broad-brimmed hat and puffed out his chest in pride, making the ‘Hawkins Police Department’ badge stand out “What ever lame-o, get in there,”

Jim laughed and allowed Seamus to gently push him the rest of the way inside. He was still a troll under the illusion and all, Seamus couldn’t move him even with two other people to help. When he saw his reflection in the hallway mirror as he walked by he couldn’t help but stop and admire it

He was wearing one of the uniforms from Cosmic Frontier, although he’d have to ask Gus or Hunter for the specific meaning behind it, but underneath that he was his old self. Lanky and pale with long dark hair, completely and totally human. Sure it was just an illusion, but it felt good to be back in his old skin, even if temporarily.

“Hey guys,” Jim stepped into the living room where a large crowd of people was milling around, including his group huddled around the coffee table.

“Hey Jimbo,” Toby grinned at him from behind the fake beard of his High Mage Maverik costume. The others smiling and chorusing their hellos as well. Claire and Gus were in more sci fi outfits, again from Cosmic Frontier with their meaning escaping him, Luz and Amity were dressed as Azura and Hecate, but…

Jim glanced around as he took his seat “Where’s everyone else?” 

“Steve met up with Eli and they went outside to help set up the bonfire,” Toby said “Darci, Willow, and Hunter went out with them to smash some pumpkins. Now me and Gus need to go rehearse for later. We’re combining stage magic and illusions for a magic show that will knock your socks off!”

“We’re going to saw someone in half!” Gus add eagerly. 

“And one of us will get set on fire!”

“Oh uh…” whatever words of caution Jim had were lost as the two of them rushed off “They’re going to be ok…right?”

“Hey if worst comes to worse we have a lot of practice fighting magic fires,” Luz leaned over and elbowed Claire with a grin “Ain’t that right?”

Claire flushed and Jim couldn’t help the chuckle that rose out of him at the sight “At least we learned something, trying to use fire to fight abominations just leads to flaming abominations,”

Now it was Amity’s turn to blush, both her and Claire dark red while him and Luz snickered.

“Well…let’s worry about that later,” Amity got to her feet, pulling Luz up along with her “We still have some time before the bonfire and I want to try bobbing for donuts,”

“Oh yeah,” Luz smiled “All the fun of bobbing for apples without sharing spit with everyone else at the party,”

“Sounds great,” Claire recovered and stood as well “The donuts not the sharing spit part, mind if we join you?”

“Sure, the more the merrier,”

The four of them headed outside through the door underneath the back porch. The Johnsons had a large yard that butted up against the woods. And past the grass of their lawn there was a wide open space between their house and the trees. It was pitch dark already, but Jim could still see Seasmus, Eli, and Logan piling up wood for the bonfire. A little was away from them was the pumpkin smashing group. Hunter alternating between tossing pumpkins at Darci and Willow, the girls bashing them out of the air with their bats with expert percision.

Underneath the porch half a dozen donuts hung down from the ends of yarn. On the porch above Jim spotted Steve and a few others laughing and yanking on the yarn as the people below tried to snag donuts in their mouths.

The four of them scurried up, each under their own string, making grabs at the donuts with their teeth. Dodging and weaving to try and snag them as the donuts swayed in the air, courtesy of Steve’s yanking. Sometimes they managed to get bites out, but for each bite there were least three misses. All shrieking and giggling as  their faces became more and more covered in powdered sugar from each near miss. Jim laughing and getting dusted right along with them. Sure ever since he became a troll sugar and anything sweet tasted nasty, but donuts were usually fatty enough to make them bearable, and that yarn…

Luz was the first one to finish eating her donut, opening her mouth wide enough to snag what was left after her sustained biting. Followed by Claire, then Amity, then finally Jim.

Claire giggled at him as he walked over to join them standing out on the lawn “You know the donut is supposed to go in your mouth, not all over your face,”

“Hey I’m just not a sugar person, but if you could save me that yarn…”

Claire and Luz laughed at that, giving Amity an opening to swoop in and peck Luz on the cheek.

“Well I think all this sugar makes my batata even sweeter,”

Now it was Luz’s turn to flush.

“Hey!” Steve shouted down at them from the top of the porch “No making out in front of the donuts! Take that PDA to the porch swing,”

“Screw you Steve,” Mary’s voice called out, from the angle of the porch they couldn’t see her fully, but the multicolored skirt of her Lucy costume was visible sitting on the edge of the swing  “The porch swing’s taken,”

The four of them laughed while Steve groaned and rolled his eyes “Whatever, now you ate the donuts so get in the kitchen and string some more,”

“Whatever you say Steve,” Jim called up, giving a cheeky salute.

“And Lake you’d better not eat all the yarn,”

Jim shut his mouth with a click, face growing hot, the girls all giggling.

Heading inside to the kitchen, they found an open box of donuts and a ball of yarn waiting for them and got to work. Taking seats with Jim and Luz pulling out yarn and cutting long strands of it while Claire and Amity tied the donuts. And Jim did not eat all the yarn, just the scraps and trimmings thank you very much.

After they’d been sitting in silence for a few moments, Luz spoke up “So if you don’t mind my asking, how’d you guys meet?”

“Well we first met at a fundraiser Claire’s mom, Councilwoman Nuñez, was holding at my mom’s hospital,” Jim leaned back and set his scissors aside “But we didn’t really get to know each other until we were in the school play together,”

“Wait don’t tell me the play was–”

“Yep,” Claire said with a pop and a sly grin “It was Romeo and Juleit with Jim as Romeo and me as Juliet,”

“Awww, so romantic,”

“How about you two,” Claire leaned forward “How’d you meet?”

Amity’s face instantly turned bright red and Luz let out an awkward chuckle “I maaaaayyyyy have snuck into Hexside, and then one thing led to another and Amity was bringing the principal in and he tried to dissect me,”

“Noooooo,” Amity threw herself back in her chair, hands going up to cover her face “It sounds so bad when you say it out loud,”

“Hey it’s not too different from how I met Draal,” Jim cut in “He was mad that the amulet chose me and not him, then I accidentally challenged him to a fight to the death. One thing lead to another, now he lives in my basement and we’re practically siblings,”

Amity sat up, peeking through her fingers, while Luz 'awed’ again “So you gained  an unofficial brother,”

“Well actually we might be official, I still need to double check with Blinky to see if trolls count holding you by your ankles and dunking you in a mud puddle as official adoption or unofficial,”

Claire elbowed him with a giggle “Knowing Draal he probably calls that Tuesday,”

They all laughed at that, and were still laughing when Seamus came into the room.

“Hey nerds! Put down those donuts and grab the smores makings. It’s bonfire time!”

Luz scrambled to her feet, ecstatic grin plastered all over her face “Sweet! You’re gonna love this sweet potato,”

She grabbed the marshmallows while Jim picked up the graham crackers and chocolate bars. The four of them heading back outside, running straight into Darci, Toby, Hunter, Gus, and Willow underneath the porch.

“Hey guys!” Darci called “Hurry up they’re about to start the bonfire, have you seen Mary,”

“No,” Claire replied with a small frown “Last I saw she was–”

“Guys we have a situation,” Mary strode towards them from down the porch stairs, voice firm and expression dead serious.

All of them instantly turned towards her “What is it?”

Mary glanced at her phone then back up at them “There’s a story trending about an incubus and a bird woman going around vandalizing monuments and graffitiing ‘Dismantle systems of oppression’ on everything,”

You could have heard a pin drop in the silence that followed those words.

“What….?” Luz squeaked out.

“Yeah it looks like the Christopher Columbus statue next to Arcadia Oaks Academy is missing its head,” Toby stared down at his phone with a wince.

“I’ve checked and there haven’t been any clear photos taken and a lot of people think it’s a hoax,” Mary’s face was chalky, a stark contrast to her usual spunk “But guys it’s– it’s everywhere,”

There was around five seconds of stunned silence where people checked their phones or stood there in shock, only to be broken by the sound of Jim’s phone ringing.

He raised it to his ear “Hello? Hey mom, oh, yeah I can put you on speaker,”

Jim tapped his phone twice and held it out.

“Hello?” Barbara’s voice echoed out.

“Hi Dr. Lake,” Toby replied “What’s happening?”

“I take it you kids have seen the story online?”

Uncomfortable looks simultaneously flashed on all of their faces.

“You…mean the one about Strickler and Eda?” Hunter said slowly.

Barbara sighed “Yes that one, I’m just calling to let you know that I have it under control and there’s no need for you kids to come home early or change your plans,”

Luz scooted forward “So is Eda…”

“They’re both at my house. Apparently they got to comparing troll meads with something called ‘apple blood’ and one thing lead to another,”

“Are they ok?” Willow spoke up.

“They’re both fine, just incredibly drunk,”

Jim couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing, brain refusing to register his mom’s words “So when you say Strickler’s drunk–”

“I mean he and Eda nearly broke down my door holding empty spray paint cans and the severed head of Christopher Columbus, then Strickler asked me if I was single and cried when I said I was married,”

Toby shouldered up next to Jim closer to the phone “Did you tell him that he’s the one you’re married to?” 

“Well I was going to, but then he threw up in the hydrangeas and passed out,” Barbara said flatly.

Even though it wasn’t directed at him Jim couldn’t help but wince at her tone. As soon as he woke up and sobered up Strickler was in for a bad time.

“What about Eda?” Amity added, siding in next to Luz “Is she alright to?”

“She’s fine, she’s just up on the roof and refuses to come down, but her partner and her sister are working on that. Anyways, we have it under control, you kids don’t worry about it and enjoy the rest of the night,”

Jim bobbed his head “Will do,”

“Thanks kiddo, love you,”

“Love you to mom,”

With that Jim hung up the phone.

“So….we still on for the bonfire?” Gus asked.

Mary grinned “Mr. S and the owl lady are fine so I say let’s do it!”

“Yeah Eda’s with Lilith and Raine, not to mention Jim’s mom,” Luz stepped back, the tension draining from her expression “She’ll be fine. Let’s just have a normal, human Halloween,”

They nodded and murmured agreement, heading out further into the yard, where the first sparks were beginning to glow in the dark night.

It really is perplexing to me how often their friends are forgotten in contemporary Davekat fic. Especially since like? I would argue one of the things Homestuck EXCELS at where other media doesn't is it's platonic relationships and just how realistic they feel and strong they are. Davekat specifically is written like people are scared that them having any close friendships outside of eachother will threaten their relationship. I know you said it's a trend that passed, but it's something I still notice in fics updating now

I think people just struggle to wrap their heads around the idea that platonic relationships can and should be just as meaningful (if not more so!) as romantic ones, and so they struggle to portray it well in their fics. And it's particularly jarring for DaveKat, who's friends do just genuinely mean That Much To Them.

That’s one thing I always loved abt homestuck and its treatment between platonic vs romantic. A lot of other media tends to diminish friendships in comparison of romantic relationships (small complaint, but it really hurts how in TOH, Luz’s dynamics with Gus and Willow is barely paid attention to anymore in favor of Amity)

like for example, Rose’s romance with Kanaya doesn’t at all make her friendships with the other betas seem weak and unimportant!! And Kanaya still maintains a good friendship with Karkat and potentially the other trolls if they were alive and she had more got damn friends to talk to!!! Because as important as rosemary is, romance has never been the main core of homestuck, so there’s no reason why Rose would just suddenly up and ignore her friends in favor of just spending every waking moment with Kanaya. (but this isn’t about the herb gays bc they barely even get attention, but they’re a good example at how you do a romance and don’t just flat out ignore their other friendships with people.)

Dave and Karkat in particular are a very special case, bc literally they live and breathe for their friends. Dave absolutely thrives off and wants his friends’ attention constantly, and he’s always up in their business so he could help them and bc he cares a LOT about them, and then Karkat is just so fucking friend shaped. He’s the unpaid therapist of his friend group. He’s the mom friend that fusses over everyone and WILL and CANONICALLY stayed up to get his friends settled. Dave and Karkat’s connections with other people is a huge part of their character especially, they literally even had the same crushes on the all the same people.

Like guys!! they’re knights and they serve (for their friends). Honestly, the whole “therapist couple” people shoved rosemary into should definitely be davekat instead, bc now that I’m thinking on it, they would SO definitely be the couple that everyone comes for advice and just needing to vent. Kanaya didn’t even like playing therapist for Eridan and lied to him abt Feferi liking him red-ways, and Rose being a therapist and psychoanalyzing her friends’ issues is all just an act. None of Rose’s or Kanaya’s friends would go to them for advice, they’re so bad at it

Draco noticed you when you went to go get something from the cart

And oh boy he fell hard

He sat there in that great hall "Please be Slytherin please be--" "GRYFFINDOR!" "oh come on."

You ended up spending a lot of time with Fred and George, those two were practically your best friends.

Draco noticed you, always seeing that smile on your face as you talked to Hermoine.

He would usually find Hermione with you.

She would be trying to make you study and you'd be doodling or doing origami instead.

Draco would smile to himself as he would hear your giggles from Hermione's frustration.

Course he'd never admit that. God no.

He was always a class A dick to you and the trio

Then there was the "TROLLLLL IN THE DUNGEEEOONNN"

And you were forced to sit in your common room with the Slytherins.

"Bet one of the Slytherin kids let it in as a joke." Fred yawned.

You shook your head and leaned to him

"There's no way, none of them have the brain cells for that." You said making both of the twins snicker

"Hey wait a minute... Where's Harry and Ron-- Where's Hermione!?" You asked making the entire common room silent.

Mcgonagall was shocked when she was made aware of the situation.

Course when they all came back you started asking questions like "So you took down a troll... How do you feel besides absolutely epic?"

Christmas rolled around and you stayed with Fred, George, Ron and Harry

Molly made you a sweater and you usually wore it if you were cold.

Draco didn't go home for some reason and you took notice.

"Yo. Draco." You said walking over. "Oh God, what do you want?" He asked.

You rolled your eyes. "I wanted to say Merry Christmas. Here." You said handing him a paper crane.

He took it and stared at it for a while as you walked away.

"Y/n." He called. You rose a brow.

His heart almost beat out his damn chest and he quickly turned back around.

He found a note though on it's wing

"you should try smiling once in a while, I've seen you do it and it's nice."

Draco turned back around and you gave a wave with a laugh.

He shook his head... But he smiled.

And that's when your heart went "BAM. YOU LIKE THIS BOY NOW."

When the school year ended you walked over to Draco.

"Hey. Draco." You said making him turn around.

"What L/n?" He asked. "Write to me sometime. I'm usually bored over the summer." You said giving him your address.

He blinked a few times as you walked away.

Well he actually did. His letters at first were more aggressive

"Why in the world would you give me your address?!"

Then over time as you wrote back he actually became... Likable.

The week before school you both had a much needed conversation though

So when he saw you in Diagon Alley you said hi and he gave you this "DON'T COMMUNICATE WITH ME" stare making you confused

That's when you saw his father and was like "Oooohhh. He's terrifying!"

What you didn't realize is that you said that out loud

And you immediately had to duck behind Fred who was walking by.

"Hey Y/n what are you--" "SHHH. YOU DON'T SEE ME!"

He looked at Lucius malfoy and then you and nodded.

"Gotcha." He nodded before George stood in the way of Lucius' view.

"So what did you do?" Fred asked.

"Accidentally looked at him and said 'oh he's terrifying!' out loud." You mumbled.

Fred laughed and George snorted.

When he left you sighed with so much relief before you felt someone tap your shoulder.

"Imsorry-- Draco! Hi!" You said panicked.

He rolled his eyes with a chuckled. "I wanted to make sure that was you. Father has a problem with me talking to Gryffindors." He said.

"Ohhh." You nodded before Fred turned around. "You two are getting along? Damn I must've drank something strange this morning" he said making you shake your head.

"I have to go, will you sit on the train with me?" He asked. "Yeah sure!" You nodded. He walked towards the door "Y/n." He said making you turn back around. "It's good to see you." He said sincerely.

Your face turned so red and George laughed. "Someone has a CRUSSHHH!" He said making you smack him. "Shut it!" You hushed.

You did sit with him on the train, laughing at some stupid joke.

Harry walked by and then froze.

"Are you... Actually--" "Harry join us!" You said.

"What!?" Both of the boys said. "Join us! We're having fun and you two need to get along, join us!" You said.

"But--" you shot them both death glares and some how some way you actually ended up having fun.

Harry could almost find Draco... Enjoyable!?

None of you had any idea on how bad this year would be

When the chamber of secrets opened oh boy...

Draco was a nervous wreck, every other class period he'd be walking you to it.

"Draco, really I'm fine-- We CAN SIGN UP FOR QUIDDITCH THIS YEAR!?"

So uhm... Funny story you ended up on the quidditch team.

You stood in for Harry when he couldn't play, which was a lot more common than expected

Honestly? You could give Harry a run for his money.

The only issue? Draco hated competing with you in a setting as brutal as that could be.

Didn't stop him from playing as hard as he did though.

Then that bitch Lavender decided to hex your broom.

"WOAH!" You said flying. Draco noticed you jolt and nearly fall. "SHIT!" you gasped as you nearly fell off it, seeing the golden glint beneath you. That's when you had a plan.

You let go.

You naturally hit the ground hard, you sprained your wrist

But then you held up that snitch and the crowd went WILD

Your wrist was fine within a week so you weren't worried.

Draco acted pissed but truth be told: he was happy you were okay.

Then it happened. You had studied with Hermoine until you two were booted from the library.

You forgot something and turned back, walking as fast as you could because to be honest, the castle kind of scared you at night.

You left a magnifying glass, you used it because of the fact that THE TEXT WAS TOO SMALL (seriously who can read that small?)

That's when you saw this reflection on the glass and you blacked out.

The next morning everyone found out about it, Draco was losing his shit and told Harry to "FIGURE THIS OUT! PLEASE!"

That was the first anyone had heard him say "please" and he was basically thrown into the investigation.

He was there for it all, Gilderoy being a complete MORON, Fawkes, the chamber-- Draco was there.

When you finally came to the first words out of your mouth was "BASILISK!"

Draco booked it to you when he found out you were awake and he hugged you.

"Woah woah woah-- what happened to you, you look like hell?" You asked.

"Found the chamber of secrets-- that's not important, you're awake!" He said.

"Yeah-- wait what?"

So you spent that summer at the Weasley's and my God was it fun

You, Fred and George had a blast together

Then came news that Sirius Black escaped from prison

Draco was panicked when he found out that he was possibly near hogwarts

Letter after letter he was basically begging you "Homeschool. Please. I almost went insane when you were attacked by a basilisk, now there's a convict on the loose"

To which you were like: "I'm not homeschooling, Draco I've got you, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred and George, I think I'll be fine!"

He found you in the leaky cauldron and while he was happy to see you he was also worried sick about you being here.

Everyone at Hogwarts was treating you like a child playing in traffic and it began to piss you off.

The only person treating you normally was Cedric after he found you kicking a tree.

"Woah there, that tree didn't hit you did it?" Cedric asked.

"What?" You asked confused.

"I'm genuinely paranoid about the plants on this property because of the whomping willow, did this tree attack you?" Cedric asked making you laugh.

"No no... I'm just angry that's all." You sighed.

"Really? Why?" Cedric asked.

"Well... Everyone's been treating me like a little kid because I was amongst the few who was petrified." You said.

"Ohhh." Cedric nodded.

He listened to you talk and he told you if you ever needed to get away from everything you were welcome to go to Hufflepuff's common room

Fun fact: Draco felt jealous for the first time

He saw you two hanging out by the lake and he just felt so jealous.

"What's with Draco?" Fred asked, noticing him being grouchy.

"he's been like that all day." Ron said.

"Probably because Y/n and Cedric started hanging out." Hermione said.

"What?" Everyone asked.

"I was walking by and heard them talking. She's tired of us basically treating her like she's a walking hazard. She has a point, we've been hard on her." Hermione agreed.

So they all eased up on it but Draco was still upset and wouldn't tell you why.

"Draco can you please just talk to me!?" You asked.

"I don't want to talk, I'm going to my room." He said.

You began to feel really hurt by this and then that damn lesson came along on Boggarts.

It got to you and it turned into Draco just... Leaving?

You stared at it for a while and Remus just handled it before you took off.

Draco thought that the boggart was just him so of course be was genuinely worried.

He went after you and found you having a meltdown.

"Y/n." He said kneeling to you.

"I'm sorry." You whimpered.

"I don't know what I did but I'm sorry Draco."

It was then that he realized what your boggart actually was.

You were afraid of him leaving you.

He never left your side again from that point on.

Draco began to sit at the Gryffindor table more and people of course took notice.

No one dared to comment on it though because uhm.

Draco could be scary when he wanted to be.

Course when he cried like a little bitch because Buckbeak attacked him that wasn't intimidating.

"I swear, you treat me like a child but you're the dumbass that just walked up to a Hippogriff!" You sighed.

"You're the one that managed to fall walking up the stairs. HOW DO YOU FALL WALKING UP THE STAIRS!?"

Madame Pomfrey had to listen to this argument the entire time

Hogsmeade was the best

When you all got back to school you all agreed to stay in groups in case that bastard really was lurking around.

Then came Lucius going "Well that creature just tried to hurt my son so... Let's kill it"

You were PISSED.

You actually had to be pulled back and you were kicking and screaming.

That's when Hermione said "I have a time turner!" And you were like "Well shit why didn't you say something BEFORE I INSULTED MY BEST FRIEND'S DAD"

Draco went all protective mode and was like "Guys I don't think this is a good idea--"

And then he was dragged into this adventure too.

So You didn't expect Harry to produce a patronus

you didn't expect Remus to be housing a convict

You didn't expect Remus to be a werewolf

And you didn't expect that damn rat to be an actual PERSON

Your head was spinning and by the end of that night you felt like you were insane

"So... Never talk about this again?" You asked.

Everyone exchanged glances

"Agreed." They all said in unison.

Summer was again, really fun.

You spent it with the Weasley's and you helped Fred and George with their business

You were always writing to Draco in your free time

And uhm...

Sometimes Draco would sneak out and go to you guys.

Molly enjoyed having him over and promised not to say anything about him being there

Arthur and Molly both recognized that look whenever he'd look at you though

That was love.

Both of you would whisper things to each other and then laugh

Molly would smile to herself knowing damn well that you two liked each other.

When he left one day you were helping Molly with cleaning.

"So how long have you liked him?" Molly asked making you almost drop a plate.

"Wha- no-- I-- uhm-- That's absolutely crazy-- I--" you saw the "You're really going to lie?" Look on Arthur's face as he put down the paper. "... How'd you know?" You asked.

"It's quite obvious darling." Molly said.

"Well to everyone but the boy." Arthur said.

You both asked them not to say anything and they agreed

You all went to the world quidditch game and had to pretend to hate Draco.

Course he wasn't the biggest fan of Cedric being there with you

Course the group noticed the smiles and flirty glances from you two across the damn stadium.

When it ended you were hanging out with Ginny when Draco ran in.

"You all need to leave." He said out of breath.

"What's going on son?" Arthur asked.

"Death eaters, everywhere. They're scaring the locals-- it isn't good." He said.

"What about you!?" You asked.

"I'll be fine Y/n, go." Draco said.

You hesitated but he put a hand on your cheek and looked into your eyes.

"Go." He said.

You and the Weasleys booked it and got the fuck out of Dodge

You all made it back to the burrow and were exhausted.

Draco snuck out to you guys and you hugged him immediately after seeing him.

That's when it clicked for the rest of the crew that "Ohhh so she likes him likes him."

The school year began with talks of something weird going on

Then the cup was introduced and you just got this gut feeling something was wrong

Fred and George were hellbent on getting their names in that goblet though

Draco stood there next to you watching those two jackasses try to put their names in to the goblet

You were standing next to a statue and his elbow was resting above you as you both laughed as those two not only failed but were launched back and taken off by Madame Pomfrey.

You two laughed and then looked at each other and just... Something changed. Something in you just nearly fell apart looking at that boy and your words were just jumbled.

You two spent most of your free time together though, always laughing or you showing him how to do origami.

Then came finding out who was going to be in the trials

Fluer, Viktor, Cedric and Harry-- wait what

Ron got upset but you could tell this wasn't planned and was bad.

Harry accepted it though.

Hermione had a little buddy following her around though

Viktor.

Nice kid, really. But did he have to be here all the time!?

You finally just decided to start studying with Draco.

Then came one day where Cedric sat with you and Draco had to deal with it.

It became a regular thing.

Then the second trial came and you were the one Cedric had to retrieve

When he came back up you both were out of breath and soaked.

Draco ran over and helped you up.

"So there's a Yule ball coming up." Cedric said making you look up. "Yeah?" You asked, slightly shivering from the weather. Cedric noticed the "Don't you fucking dare" look on Draco's face.

"Would you like to go with Draco?" Cedric asked.

Draco opened his mouth for a threat but when he realized what Cedric actually said he just started blushing.

"Uhm... Sorry did you just ask... Me... To go with... Draco?" You asked.

"Yep." Cedric nodded.

"Did you two plan this out or something?" You asked.

"Yes." Cedric said.

Draco was still reeling. "Uhm... Y-Yeah we did." He lied.

"Then... Yeah sure." You nodded with a laugh.

And so Draco was spending even MORE time with you.

The dance class was so much fun to you

Plus, Draco you being close didn't hurt either.

SO MUCH FUN! RIGHT!?

You both danced with giggles and exchanging smiles.

The Yule ball finally happened and Draco was at a loss of words when you and Hermione both walked down together.

"Y/n... Wow." Was all the poor guy could muster.

You smiled and tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear

You two danced for a bit, smiling at each other

Then you two walked through the grounds and Draco gave you his coat.

You looked at him and something just took over

You kissed him.

You two started dating from that point on

Draco would walk you from class to class even if his classes were on the other side of the school

Everyone loved seeing you two so happy.

It was now a common occurrence to see you two in the library together

He'd be doing origami while you studied.

Course he always made sure you weren't too stressed too
