Lost it watching GBBO this week. 😂

Between their misguided takes on tacos and s’mores, and their insistence on “technicals” like (spring-rolls and icecream) that barely even pretend to be baking; they really seem to have jumped the shark 🦈 this season.

It’s getting really hard to take Paul and Prue seriously as experts when the show keeps pushing outside the realm of their expertise.

But then there are moments like this:

Sybira: …it’s going to have peanut-butter and berries.

Paul: Peanut and fruit.

Sybira: Yeah

Paul: You wouldn’t normally put together-

Prue: No it sounds quite strange to me.

Strange! Really?!

I get that not everywhere is the USA; but surely somewhere in their combined 132 years on this planet, between all of their international travels, SURELY one of them must have at least heard of PB&J!

Apparently not, because 2 1/2 hours later at the time of judging it still hasn’t occurred to them.

Prue: Sybira I think you’ve got really excellent flavors. They’re unusual, I would never have thought of that combination, and I think it really works.

💖 Bryce Lahela x Olivia Hadley (F!OC) [Open Heart]

Can I Have This Dance (OH1—forever) Some dances last a few minutes, others a lifetime, but every so often, there’s one that lasts forever. This kind of encapsulates their entire romance from intern year til the end. It’s fluffy and bittersweet and a little heartbreaking.

Dance with Me (OH1): Bryce and Olivia dance in the rain. 

Sea Lions, Tiger Sharks, and Penguins, oh, my! The gang takes a trip to the Boston Aquarium (and cause a bit of trouble).  

Stay (OH2, Ch5): Olivia helps Bryce make dinner for Keiki after her surprise arrival, but the surgical intern isn’t ready for Olivia to leave just yet. (the first Bryce fic I ever wrote)

The entire orphanage series but most specifically The Start of Something New. Where Mal and Daenarya first open the orphanage and meet the their first two rescues who they eventually adopt.

Passing Shower: Sometimes when there’s an unexpected rain shower, you just have to let go and live in the moment.

A Kiss: Mal and Daenarya take a short trip to a secluded island and discuss Daenarya's kissing a mermaid. 

More than a Kit: Mal and Daenarya continue to discuss their developing relationship. Daenarya has a test for Mal to see how much he cares.

Fall Fridays Vol. 8

BAKING/COOKING

It’s almost American Thanksgiving so that means I’m gonna make my s’mores pie, which is truly the easiest pie recipe of all time.

CRAVING

A hot chocolate with a smidge of toffee syrup in it. I’ve only thought about it in theory, so as soon as the temperature drops below zero I’ll go get one.

DRINKING

Blonde flat whites for life. I’m a creature of habit.

EATING

So I finally went to the new Wegman’s in the city and the best deals? Three pounds of family pack ground chicken for $12. I’m sorry, but that’s wild. Also their $9 frozen wild blueberries family pack, get out of here. Deals for days in there.

EXPERIENCING

I’ve started arranging my saved reels into categories (makeup, funny stuff, etc.) and it’s made my life so much easier. Didn’t even know that was an option.

LISTENING

90s Disney soundtracks. They’re so soothing. Aladdin especially.

LOVING

Nathan did the Gramercy Theatre for the New York Comedy Festival and it was so phenomenal. I understand how you could think I’m biased but I truly don’t see him on stage that much, so when I do I’m usually pretty excited for it. And this tech stuff was so good. He works incredibly hard and I’m so happy that it was such a success.

SHOPPING

I DO NOT NEED MORE CANDLES. So obviously I bought the new chocolate croissant one from Trader Joe’s.

WATCHING

We saw The Shark is Broken on Broadway and it’s hard to accurately express how wonderful it was. It closes this Sunday and I’m grateful that we got to see it. Every single element (acting, script, set) was overwhelmingly good.

WEARING

I’m currently going through my entire closet and trying to arrange full outfits so that I don’t have to think too much about what I’ll wear each day. I’d just love to be a little bit more put together next year - or at least give more of a shit about that stuff. I only started thinking more about this when I realized how much I love putting together my vacation outfits and how happy that makes me, so here we are. Let’s see what happens.

Day 17: Harry Potter/Lord Voldemort (Food)

Every night Harry dreamed of a feast.

It was never the same, each meal hosted in a new beautiful location and showcasing a mountain of delicacies. From grand ballrooms painted with gold, to displays colored by stained glass that stretched stories high, to gardens beside rivers full of gold fish bigger than he had ever seen. Always different, always changing. But there were two constants with each meal. The lingering taste of smokey meats and sugar sweets and heady wine that would haunt him even when he woke, and the man who joined him for each meal.

“Aren’t you hungry, darling boy?” Lord Voldemort asked, spider thin fingers offering the reddest apple he had ever seen. He smirked, shark sharp teeth behind thin lips, and took a bite from the apple, as though taunting him with proof that it was safe. Juice ran down his chin, a split tongue chasing after to not miss a drop of falling nectar. “Eat, Harry. You’re far too thin.”

And every night, without fail, he ate.

Haydari dip with fresh pita and sun warmed vegetables that still smelled of the garden they grew in. Gravlax with sprigs of dill, the scent following him for days afterwards. Flavorful soup dumplings that popped in his mouth and ran down his chin until he laughed in delight. Tiropita with flaky phyllo that fell like snow as he bit into the warm treat.

And Voldemort would sit beside him, brushing his lips with a silk napkin or refilling his glass of wine. He would teach Harry about the foods of the world, about the history of dishes he had never heard of and what combinations of salt and sweet would taste best on the tongue.

And every night, without fail, he gorged.

Beef Wellington and gravy, hot little buns of meat that he could cling to while birds sang haunting melodies overhead. Peaking duck served with paper thin pancakes, and sweet onion, his fingers learning the shape of chopsticks until he could use them as comfortably as any fork. Biryani served over and over but never the same, full of spices that danced on his tongue and brought with them the ghost of a memory he couldn’t capture. Bibimbap with the finest beef he had ever tasted and delighting him when the running egg yolk fell in a golden river.

And Voldemort would watch him, red eyes burning with possessive delight. He would feed Harry, first from his own plate, then his own spoon, then his own hand. His fingers, tipped with the black of his magic, would trail over Harry’s plump lips and he would watch the bob of Harry’s throat with a shocking intensity.

And every night, without fail, he indulged.

Tiramisu served with bitter coffee, the sweetness mixing and leaving him desperate for every last crumb. Gulab Jamun, deep fried and soaked in a sticky sweet syrup that lingered on Harry’s lip and coated his fingers. S’mores, which he had only heard of and had never seen, but which proved to be a favorite when he was allowed to roast his own marshmallow, testing his patience until he mastered the slow turn needed for a perfect golden brown. Crème brule, mixing creamy custard with the delightful crunch of caramel which provided its own music when he tapped away at the crust with a bone white spoon.

And Voldemort would taste him just as he tasted the feast. His thin lips would steal sweetness from Harry’s, his split snake tongue gathering the salt of the meal and of Harry’s skin, his teeth nibbling as though desperate to bite. He would push Harry back onto ornate pillows and against lavished futons and into lush grass. Hey y’all! I want to start getting some of my sewing patterns up for sale, but at least for the first pattern I’d want to remake the plushie myself and, if possible, have someone pattern test it. I’m going to list the patterns I’ve written that I might put up for sale, and please let me know if any of them interest you! Especially if you’re willing to be a pattern tester - elephant (version 1 and version 2) - octopus - frog (small but detailed, with two options. Grumpy and less grumpy) - whale - mini bee - hammerhead shark - tiny skunk? maybe? - sunfish (aka mola mola) (might just make this one a free pattern, it’s pretty simple) - jack o lantern (same for this one, if a pattern only has two pieces I’m reluctant to charge for it) - a large gecko - cuttlefish - spherical bee - teddy bear but it’s a deer (also with cat and penguin options) - human teeth (molar, canine, and whatever front teeth are called) - robot - s’mores ghost (probably a free pattern) - eel (also maybe a free pattern? Do you think there will be a time where the slashers go to a private beach only with the reader, Eva I think and Amita and basically blush at reader even though her swimsuit isn’t showing? And basically the reader introduces them to s’mores, swimming, sandcastles, and snow cones? Idk why but then at the beach sounds fun but if not its ok!!!

Freddy :

Now, Freddy would either start a water battle or just scare people at the beach.

Freddy *drools when he sees you and whistles* "Wouhou ! That's one Hell of a view !"

Amita *throws a shoe at his face* "Pervert !"

Eva : *bites her lower lip in order not to laugh as Freddy slowly sinks dramatically in the sea* "Worth. It."

Michael :

Michael would bring his book with him and just stay under the shade of a parasol and keep an eye on all of the slashers, making sure nobody drowns or that Freddy doesn't go too far with one of his pranks.

Michael *reads a book and flips to next page before raising his eyes to admire you from a far and smiles appreciatively**writes down* "Looking good girls."

Michael likes to read all the time, but he also enjoys swimming. He may not be the best swimmer, but he does know how to swim. And what a sight...*cough cough*..I mean, he has a rather muscular body and catches quite a few glances each time he gets out of the water.

He would also love to see you in a swimming suit, but would play it cool like a champ.

" Looking good, sunshine.."

Jason :

Poor boy is scared of the water. He can't get near it, but will play with Brahms on the beach or build sand castles. But, if you want him to get in the water ? You'll have to help him and reassure him that it's fine and hold his hand.

Jason *whimpers when he feels the waves crash at his feet* "I can't..I can't..."

He would also blush pretty quickly once he sees you in a bathing suit. Poor boy couldn't handle it. Nosebleed even..

The Penny Brothers :

Now, the two of them have to take a more "normal" appearance in order not to get too much attention. But, they both have very different ways to have fun at the beach.

Penny would come to search for you at 4 am and just stand there until you wake up. He would be so excited that he couldn't sleep. (Not that he needs it.) You would also have to remind him that running on all fours in the water is not a very human thing, more like a dog thing..He loves water and would enjoy just staying in it for the whole day..Just, remind him that he is not a mermaid and has to breathe for the humans not to panic and think that he is drowning ?

He would also love to see you in a swimming suit. But, Penny is not easily aroused, he just sees flesh as meat so...Yeah...

Pennywise would make fun of everybody at the beach, mimicking people who try to act cool by lighting cigarettes when it's already very hot or just pulling pranks with Freddy. He is not a very big swimmer, but will get in the water with his brother to spend time with him.

"Bro ! This guy really thought I was a shark !"

Yeah..Don't be surprised if not a lot of people stay around you after that.

Pennywise is like Penny, he sees flesh as it is, but...He still can appreciate a nice body.

*whistles* "D*mn ! Nice piece of a**!"

You can guess where Amita's other shoe landed...?

Brahms :

Now, normally Jason is the one who is clumsy...But, in the water ? Brahms is a disaster. He actually attracts sharks and jellyfish..He loves water, but has to stay on the sand in order to stay safe..He would build sand castles with Jason or any of the other kids present. He also has a very nice body. He doesn't really care, but a lot of women/men do..

"~Heyyy handsome ! Wanna play volleyball with us ?"

Eva makes sure to get the point across rather quickly..considering he has the mentality of a child.

" Shoo shoo ! That one's not for sale, ladies/gentlemen !"

He would blush like crazy at you in a swimming suit and start stammering, even more than usual.

" Y...Y...You..l...look...pr..pretty..."

Arthur :

Favorite part ? The way to go to the beach..He would stare at the landscapes slowly changing and just relax. He doesn't really mind the beach, he just feels like going and coming back from the beach is just as fun. He actually asked you three if he could just stay in the bus ? He usually stays with Victor who doesn't like the sea..They both enjoy just looking outside and maybe taking an ice-cream ? They don't talk and it's just fine by them.

However, Arthur would come just to have some fun sometimes (and see you in a swimming suit).

"You're beautiful..."

Five :

4 words. Margarita on the beach. He just wouldn't pass on the occasion to sip alcool while looking at the sea. Also, Five has body issues...For people ? He's just a kid. Women would ask him to play with their children, men would ask for his identity card every single time he orders an alcoholic beverage. He just hates it and would just bring his own bottle sometimes. But, he does enjoy the view and to look at the different people in the sea, even if he is usually the prime prank victim of Pennywise and Freddy.

" You fuck*ng a**holes put apple juice in my bottle of whisky !"

Five would also appreciate seeing you in a bathing suit, but...He's technically a kid and wouldn't want everyone to look at him weird if he was to get a..Yeah..You know. 😏😂

Barry :

Barry will be the best-dressed man on the beach, even in a simple swimming suit. He will also judge every single person on the beach, just by looking at their swimming suit and their attitude wearing them.

" This one is definitely a b*tch. That one is a little too traditional. And...OH MY GOD ! A FASHION CRIME HAS BEEN COMITTED !"

He would probably be the one who chose your swimming suits..He's good and he knows it. He also can appreciate a good model.

He wasn’t jealous - there wasn’t anything to be jealous of. He and Dylan weren’t dating or anything, they were just both counselors at the same camp who sometimes talked to each other and sometimes hung out and sometimes sat at the same table for lunch or dinner or whatever. They were friends, not boyfriends, so what did he care if Dylan wanted to hang out with other people, or snicker at their jokes, or whatever? That was his business, not Ryan’s. Jealousy didn’t even factor into it.

But man, Josh was not his favorite person.

His campfire stories weren’t even scary.

That was the real problem - Josh’s ego. It wasn’t jealousy at all. It was the fact he’d come into the camp thinking he was hot shit because his dad was some movie exec back home, and somehow that meant he was going to be the reigning champ of ghost stories during nights at the fire pit even though Ryan had been the one telling tales over s’mores since he’d been a camper, way back when.

All of his stories were the same, too. He acted like they weren’t, like each one was some sort of shining example of originality, but at the end of the day they always boiled down to the same thing: People eating other people. Which was gross, sure, and it always got the kids to gasp and shout ‘EW!’, but no one else was impressed. No one.

He sure thought they were, though. That much was obvious in his deadpan joke delivery and all those shitty smirks. He thought he was like, something to talk about, Josh, again, all because his dad was semi-famous and he was a couple years older than the rest of the counselors. Again, he wasn’t, but good luck convincing him of that; the smirking, the winking, the under-the-breath comments, they were constant, like if he stopped flirting for even a second, he’d suffocate to death the way sharks did if they stopped swimming.

Of course Ryan didn’t like him - the guy was obnoxious, and full of himself, and at the end of the day, sort of a creep.

It absolutely, positively, unquestionably had nothing to do with the way he and Dylan had been hanging out so much lately, or how often Ryan caught the two of them snickering together, voices pitched down low as they passed judgement on fellow counselors and staff alike. It had nothing to do with that at all.

Or at least that’s what he told himself.
