New Preprint: RDFGraphGen: A Synthetic RDF Graph Generator based on SHACL Constraints

In the past year or so, our research team designed, developed and published RDFGraphGen, a general-purpose, domain-independent generator of synthetic RDF knowledge graphs, based on SHACL constraints. Today, we published a preprint detailing its design and implementation: "RDFGraphGen: A Synthetic RDF Graph Generator based on SHACL Constraints".

So, how does RDFGraphGen work, and why was it needed?

The Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL) is a W3C standard which specifies ways to validate data in RDF graphs, by defining constraining shapes. However, even though the main purpose of SHACL is validation of existing RDF data, in order to solve the problem with the lack of available RDF datasets in multiple RDF-based application development processes, we envisioned and implemented a reverse role for SHACL: we use SHACL shape definitions as a starting point to generate synthetic data for an RDF graph. The generation process involves extracting the constraints from the SHACL shapes, converting the specified constraints into rules, and then generating artificial data for a predefined number of RDF entities, based on these rules. The purpose of RDFGraphGen is the generation of small, medium or large RDF knowledge graphs for the purpose of benchmarking, testing, quality control, training and other similar purposes for applications from the RDF, Linked Data and Semantic Web domain.

RDFGraphGen is open-source and is available as a ready-to-use Python package.

Alchemy of Souls... IDK what to call this

So I have been lurking Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter... and there is a lot of discourse about Cho Yeong/ Naksu/ Jin Bu Yeon/ Mudeok... Over the fact that she never got to be an assassin again, never wielded her sword, lack of fighting scenes and what people are either calling a character assasination or decent development of it... the latter not very well phrased by me. And I also see a lot of posts piting S1 Mudeok with S2 Jin Bu Yeon... which makes me question aren't they the same character cause the only thing I see is that they are played by different actresses.

For me, her journey is not one of becoming an assassin again, she didn't choose to be one in the 1st place it was imposed, shacled and manipulated into being one by Jin Mu, 2nd when she ended up in the body of Mudeok/Jin Bu Yeon she makes comments on how weak the body is, cause while the body "hosts" the soul of a woman with the strongest divine powers, it is a body from a person that, from what I gather poor, so less access to nutritious food, so she might also be malnourished and maybe even anemic, 3rd after her memory comes back she also has the memory of stabbing the only person that ever loved her and vice-versa in the heart (they say heart... but the placement for me is more pancreas maybe... but the heart it is) so less of a reason to wield it again - I will not deny that she is attracted to her sword, I mean it was her sword for more than 10 years - she might also still be aprensive about wielding it, 4th when the process of "unpetrification" started Master Lee stated that, the strongest soul in the body is Naksu so maybe that whole process depleted her energy as a mage and to regain it she would have to train all over again but taking into account that the body where she resides is weak, she would take 20 years or maybe even more than that to reach the level that she was before she decided that it was not worth the hassle and 5th when Jin Seol Ran decided to give the body to Cho Yeong she also gave her divine powers - not sure if all of her divine powers, half or even a quarter, I like to believe that she gave her all of them - sometimes I'm also positive - so that she can still be the heir or produce a powerfull heir to Jinyowon, so she would feel even less inclined to be an assassin again. In this I have a gripe with cause I wanted her to used them more times cause throughtout the show we undestand how the mages use their powers but the divine powers stayed shrouded in mystery and never fully explained so I wanted to see more.

About the fact that in S2 Cho Yeong is innocent and all sunshine and roses... I mean why do people hate women acting cute and innocent there are people like that no matter the age, personality and profession, they (we... I am a woman to) aren't less powerful or comanding, a woman doesn't need to tear down other women to feel good about themselves, We all have different views on what a powerful person acts or is, but female power sometimes is not being in the frontline, acting like a "man" so that she can be respected. these ideas are ingrained into us since we are children. I like that her personality without the memories of her time as Mudeok, could be what she is without the trauma, anger and grief, she is just a facet of Cho Yeong but no less powerful and she knows that, while doesn't fight in the front lines, she controls the backgroung and backstage, from doing interviews to choose mages to train, to choose the new queen. Sometimes controlling the backstage is more important than being in the front lines.

I think the S2 would benifited with having at least more 2 episodes, the 9th and the 10th became to rushed and plot holes and discrepancies became evident, it's still good but story wise the S1 is superior in that regard it had time to have good pacing and create essentially an amazing cliffhanger, for me S2 has the chemistry between the main actors as a selling point, I rarely see an onscreen chemistry that makes me feel it and this one did it, and call me basic or cliché I love me some, Sunshine girl/ Brooding guy, Forced Marriage, a bit of enemies to lovers which they deliver, S2 is like a fanfiction written by the authors and if this is the key for it to have a happy ending then be it... I still have trauma from the ending of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo I don't wanna relive it...

SHACL (Shapes Constraint Language) is a powerful and flexible data validation language for RDF graphs (possibly expressed as JSON-LD). It can specify constraints on individual properties and nodes, using simle or complex paths, even using SPARQL. There are many built-in predicates, and you can even use JS or SPARQL for more complex ones. See an example in the shacl-playground.

I have first learned about it from the presentation of the Clojure DB Fluree, which I suppose uses it under the hood, even though the docs do not mention it. (It also uses RDF, JSON-LD, SPARQL.)

For the Shacles of time anniversary :D: my favourite character is Arlen, I love this studious moon elf on adventure out of his comfort zone, and I love his dynamic with the dragon-cat and their snarky little conversations together. And I love the whole main trio together, they are so different and it's magnificent how they play off each other.

As for a favourite moment, I love the introduction interviews with Wyndulin before the sparring scene they had to see if they would be accepted into the guild or not. All three of them having such different reasons and poetic answers, leaving you curious as what exactly stands behind those words👌

As for worldbuilding, there are so many bits :D flying island above the guild. Arlen's magic. I loved the description of the training grounds in the guild and they system of getting missions, how they are ranked, how the safety measures work, the badges. So detailed and realistic👌.

Imagine this:

The velvet room of persona 5, but all the prison bars are broken and rusted, the shacles and cots destroyed. Instead what replaces them are comfy old couches, a small oven and a large table surrounded by chairs next to igors desk. The walls are covered in banners, posters and cork walls that have maps and information on them. The once pristine cells are filled with the chaos that a lived in space brings, what once was a prison is now a rebels hideout

idc what's wrong with me but I can't stop listening to this song and all i see is merlin thinking about the "there is no place for magic in camelot" scene, right after he sends arthur out to avalon...

The entire show was just Merlin always having to choose between his love for Arthur, and his magic. Both of which were the two most important parts of him.

Even though it killed him to do so, telling Arthur to not bring magic back to Camelot felt right to him. To protect Arthur, like he had been all these years, was part of who he was now.

Now that Arthur's gone, he's left with questions and doubts, about his choices and decisions. It felt right to him, but was he wrong? Did Arthur die because of him?

Was it supposed to happen this way? Is there where he was supposed to end up?

What I'd give to see if the grass was greener

on the other side of all I've had and lost,

Would it be enough?

Would I still be wondering?

What if he'd let magic return to Camelot back that day? Would everything have been different? Would Arthur still be alive? Would he finally have to stop choosing between magic and Arthur? Would it have been enough to release him from the shacles of those questions that just won't go away?

Also defo not dying over the idea of this just. Strawhat pirate, one Killer doesn't really know like, at all, just being throw into jail with him and sooner or later they just take off their scarf and offer to put it on Killer so he can hide his face again

And like if I remeber right, in prison Kid's n everyones arms are shacled behind their back, so if that's true, I like the idea of them going through the trouble of getting their hands infront of them (which I think is possible if they're bendy enough) just so they can put the scarf on his face better

And like they don't even want anything out of him, they just don't like seeing anyone so uncomfortable

Then Kid sees someone try to harass them and he just decks the guy bothering them and from then on, the Strawhat has to hang with them so he can make sure people don't try shit, because, well, Kid prolly hates owing people and I feel like helping his best buddy is kind of a big deal to him
