Hello <3! I’ve recently got into F1 this year around May and I discovered Fathers and Sons around July and oh my goodness I absolutely adore it! Each Sunday I’d eagerly await that wonderful Ao3 update email and *rush* to go read the next chapter- and there’s so many things I love about it!

The dynamics between the kids, the difference between Max who was old enough when he was adopted to remember his life before Lewis and Seb v.s. Lando who only knows his family as is because he was taken in so young- with every chapter I find the siblings dynamics so unique and so interesting!

All of the individual struggles the kids go through, from being a teenager with a social life like Carlos, to Lando’s deafness and Max’s eagerness to step up and learn/practice with Lando- it’s just one of your fic’s charms that I ADORE!

The constant tension between Lewis and Seb, and how it affects the kids and each child’s perspective on their parent’s struggling relationship is so fascinating to me. Not to mention Seb and Lewis’s perspective of one another ontop of raising these four kids- and in some cases having to do it alone!

Every single side character as well and their own struggles, like Dan and his substance use or Checo and his own past- I just love every single detail you’ve included into this fic <3

The absolute rawness in this fic also pulls at my heartstrings so much- like when Max freaked out after the hockey game and pushed Seb through his anger, and then locked himself in the locker room and through his panic threw his phone on the ground- only to have the immediate realization that he fucked up and the utter guilt that comes with it when he realizes he messed up part of his phone- it’s phenomenal!

And not to mention the overarching mystery element to the story of Carlos’ adoption, and Lewis’s search for any clues or details he can find without involving Seb- it makes for such good angst and mystery- I love it so much!

I could honestly go on and on about how much I love this fic so far, and during your so much deserved break, I wanted to thank you so much for this delightful fic- and I hope my rambling in this ask wasn’t too annoying, but genuinely oh my goodness, thank you so much for this fic- it brings me such happiness as a reader <3

do i see maxy as one of your fave characters?? 0-0 but yes i love writing sibling dynamics! especially in the case of right now all siblings are living in the same environment (with lew and seb in a wealthy place) but they all view things so differently! as you said for example carlos has struggles related to his relationship or with his friends whereas max doesn't give a shit about school and is getting into trouble outside of it (ie checo and hockey). max and lando,,, i cry every time i write them, i love them soooooo much.

lewis and seb,,,, there's so much underlying drama there especially combined with the mystery element of carlos' adoption!!! i do love a good mystery - for an old fandom i wrote an insane murder mystery and it's the work I'm proudest of to this day! (a skz fic in anyone reads for that fandom!!)

i think side characters contribute so so much to a story! i hate when people don't utilise them well - they are people too with their own struggles and their lives don't revolve around the POV character.

i try to write some raw/emotional shit because i am an angst girl at heart. max is so easy to write angst for LMAO i always feel so bad hurting him, but I'm just too evil. don't worry - he'll get a break soon!

i LOVE a good long ramble especially when it's regarding a fic i've written so DON'T WORRY!!!! it makes me feel so appreciated as a writer and I'm churning with ideas for future chapters! I'm happy to announce I've planned scene-by-scene until chapter 50! and omgggg there's some utterly evil ones in there.

For most design stuff I'm going based on the official art for sophomore year but since the webtoon came out I look at it for a couple questions about color palettes (for example riz is sometimes lime green and something super pastel)

Tell me why drawing Fabian has been such a pain because his original sophomore year art has a drastically different skin tone than the webtoon which I assume is also official since it's a dropout project??? Which do I use???

And drops down to talk for a bit

Loves when you offer to fix his costume

Bc it looks just as nice & homemade as the rest of your/his fits

Grins under his mask when he sees a new patch or two

And starts snickering if you deny their application

He really appreciates everything you do for him

And figures he should prove it

Sure, he's saved you

But he's saved a lot of people..

He wants this to be special

the wildcards returning for the finale is great dont get me wrong. its jst. i guess at the end where all of the wildcards are activated its jst. so much?? like everything happening is too much at the same time yk? i think thats mostly the problem. bc. everyone has to deal with all these deadly wildcards adding up gradually causing some of the players their last life. which i think makes it more.. unsatisfactory? kind of? since the finale for others werent going out in pvp or traps and allat but the wildcards.

all of them happening at the same time is a bit overwhelming?? or maybe its jst me but theres too much going on every moment and such. its jst hard to actually focus/try to kill ppl? we have the slow to speedy thingy happening, the mobs dying and changing, which causes a lot of lag and deaths (gem to a vex is an example of this) cus theres a bunch of mobs to look out for, the trivia bot coming down sometimes at the worst possible moment (a snail chasing u n all), theres also the superpower card its kinda not been properly or well used during all this, and snails since they did end some series and caused a bunch of deaths in their past of being the main wildcard.

and: shiny duo again bc i cant not end this talking abt the wildcard(s) and i love them (sadly true)

when pearl got killed by grian, cleo ran straight for him. she ignored joel who was stabbing her in the back (literal). she tried so hard to blast grian off that cliff. i dont think she was trying to protect ren, who was getting chased by grian. she didnt yell at him, she was jst quiet and absolutely pissed that pearl died. i mean who wouldnt tbf. pearl was the only remaining teammate of the main 4 g's afterall. ohhhhshdbwb my moonrot heart has been revived.

With Lilac and Faba there isn't really a big or little spoon, they decide it often spontaneously depending on their mood. Cuddling time <3

Same to confident and shy, there are days where Faba is touchstarved, acts like a little idiot, is a very easily nervous and flustered wreck and Lilac "uses" it to make him even more flustered and acts quite confident. (If Colress would join in the flirting on these days Faba is often dead, congrats. Bi panic hits hard). But there are also days where Faba acts very confidentally loving and soft or like an over confident flirty little shit (sometimes he looks like an idiot...a cute idiot. Depending on the situation) Moments like these would Lilac feel also very shy and more flustered.

Faba hates PDA in busy places which Lilac very much respects and holds herself very much back, especially at work (they both try...but sometimes. It's hard having to see your loved one the whole time.) So they share cute moments only in private places or places with just a very little amount of people that don't know them.

Housework and Cooking was a little difficult to decide on because in my story they don't have houses, they each have a room in the Aether Foundation- but Faba can cook and keeps his room tidy, such a Lilac. Even tho Lilac can only do Paldean sandwiches well for now...but hey it's something.

They are both protective especially when some random employee decides to be disrespectful. Since they are so defending about each other some people guess they have something ongoing but they always deny it for Fabas privacies sake.

Now to the Bars:

Trust: after everything they went through trust is written very big in their relationship. They can be honest about every tiny little thing with each other without fear aaaah

Clingy: Lilac is so super fn clingy omg. She loves you? Now she's glued to you until you need some private space. I must admit this "sadly" has also smth to do with her bpd, she feels such a big amount of Happiness around Faba it's literally like a drug. If she is lonely somehwere for a very long time she is usually an empty and useless feeling wreck. (Faba knows this and is there for her whenever she needs it) But Faba is nearly as clingy as her just needs some private moments more often. As much as he suffers from NPD, his symptoms and toxic perfectionism are very low around her and he can actually feel genuine happiness after all the trust they gained towards each other over the years.

Jelaousy: Lilac is the least Jealous person on earth I might say- "Yo Faba you love someone else next to me? HELL YEA I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU THAT YOU CAN TRUST SOMEONE ELSE THAT MUCH!!" (literally her after Faba told her he has feelings for Colress. And someone else- no spoiler) and she awws everytime Faba is cute with someone. She is so happy for him.

Faba on the other hand really doesn't want to be jealous but his NPD literally fucks him over some times against his will. But in moments like these he learned he can just calmly and openly communicate to her that he feels bad or angry against his will right now (and then usually gets a bunch of love and reassurance)

And the rest is art- might add that Faba and Lilac L O V E to dress up in very different clothes or do cosplay, even silly roleplay. (More to that on the other Template I work on)

So this is a pretty good question, but this has plenty of spoilers! Let's just say that they're similar to Aether/Lumine, but unlike them, they weren't trapped in one world. If you remember how the reader ended up in Teyvat, somewhere deep and dark. It's a conspicuous mode of transportation. in my completely stupid logic, I believe that if I'm in a dark place, no one can fucking find me—

So I may or may not have projected that thought to this fic— so yeahh... Let's add the fact that Focalors was able to trick Celestia, with reader's mother being her niece... I'll leave that up to your imagination!!

Zuko's character arc is not lost it's clickbait

*Tired sigh* EarlyGame released an article saying "Zuko's character arc is lost!" in the live action and have said that Zuko's character motivation has shifted from chasing Aang to restore his honor to now chasing Aang to help the FN win the war. They use the short promo clip of Dallas Liu's Zuko writing a letter/journal about the Avatar to say that, especially when he says the line "it is my duty to capture the Avatar".

First of all, I read the article, because I got concerned too. Honor is a large pat of his motivation, we also got a trailer clip of Zuko telling Aang "You are the enemy of the Fire Nation!". We know Zuko didn't hunt Aang for the war.

Except.

New audiences do not know that Zuko's chasing Aang for his honor. The first premise we as an audience knew when we watched the cartoon was this;

Fire Nation is taking over the world

Aang is the only one who can stop them

The Fire Prince is chasing Aang and getting in his way

When we are introduced to Zuko, Sokka talks about invaders and spies from the Fire Nation. Zuko then attacks the village and destroys Sokka's wall with his ship and fights him. From all of this, we get the impression that Zuko's here with animosity towards SWT along with the goal to capture the avatar for the FN.

We, the OG viewers, did NOT know Zuko was doing this as a necessity due to his banishment until The Storm, halfway through the series. We thought he's just in competition with Zhao and being an asshole FN Prince. It was a huge twist and a spoiler that contributed heavily to us sympathizing with Zuko when we learned the real reason.

The Live Action isn't just for the original fans, it's for everyone. What is blatantly obvious to us is not for those who are going to watch it with brand new eyes. Zuko doing this due to his banishment is a surprise and they're 100% trying to maintain it for the live action too.

Zuko's arc of honor is also impossible to be removed btw, because we SEE clips of Ozai attacking Zuko, Zhao is still his competition. These characters and incidents are the bedrock of establishing the 'honor' motivation so no it's not gone.

In addition, it makes sense for Zuko to at least tell other people that he's trying to capture Aang for the Fire Nation. In the og series he didn't give a shit about the war, which makes sense, but Zuko is a Prince, an heir to the throne. He would've been deep in the propaganda. It's like;

Father wants to win the war -> Father has banished me-> The Avatar is a huge obstacle in the way of the war -> He has assigned me the task of capturing the Avatar -> I AM important to the war! -> So war= avatar's capture= me being vital -> The war and capturing the avatar, an honor mission, become one and the same.

If Zuko frames his mission as serving the Fire Nation, despite his banishment, he can think himself as still being a part of the royal family.

Nothing has drastically changed, I honestly think it's a good addition to include Zuko's thoughts on the war itself because of course the PRINCE of the FIRE NATION would have an opinion on the war. It is impossible for him to not think the Fire Nation is deserving of their victories.

Literally every single time I've seen people freak out over things, it's over a clickbait title, the article writers badly misinterpreting things, or people going into this convinced that the Live Action is bad. A conclusion has been made, and people are desperately searching for evidence even if it's false.
