Very upset about all the scraping of ao3 that's going on recently. I've always had my fics open and available to everyone, because I want people to be able to read and interact without an account.

But now I'm torn between finally locking them and the idea that it's already too late...

Like I've got over 200k words on there. That have already probably been fed to countless AIs.

It's nothing against you anon, I just never know how to answer it. Because if I say yes, then I have to trust that you're only doing it for personal use and then someone that isn't going to use it for personal use could take that as permission and then turn around and start selling it which could get me into legal trouble above all the other ethical issues with it.

I just never know how to answer. It takes a lot of trust (which I'm not saying you're not trustworthy) and I doubt if someone was going to do it with nefarious intentions, they wouldn't be asking permission.

So I don't know. I really don't.

Given the new wave of AI BS that's coming to tumblr I'm not going to be posting full chapters here anymore. I'm still going to be posting snippets and tags when I update for people who've asked, but no more full chapters or oneshots. Unsure of drabbles, but most likely those are going to AO3 as well. There's no way to completely avoid AI scrapping but I'd rather make them fight to take my things rather than handing them over on a silver fucking platter

Okay well I spend four+ hours a night in a writing K-hole as a pure act of passion while I kick my feet and giggle about dialogue because I’m insane and that is always going to be better than whatever the fuck AI generates.

Using AI to create “art” isn’t just unethical but it’s cowardly- it takes the joy out of living and out of humanity.

To be human is to create to have passion to do things solely because we enjoy them stop letting AI take away the joy in being human- please.

Make bad art make any art at all but make it yourself- partake in the human act of creation. (Also it’s killing the environment)

ai "art" my ass , ai cannot recreate art , or come close to it, art mimics its audience, not pictures online, art captures a feeling, art is an experience that is encapsulated and then shown to us physically, art is not copying and pasting different experiences all together for someone's half-assed ai bot that is only stealing from artists who are putting their souls into what they make just for it to be stripped off the internet and into a bot that can't even retain memory or form coherent storylines.
