*Why were they here?* They didn’t have a good reason. They don’t even remember getting here.

“I needed help,” they tried again, then looked at Milo, “with, uh, social studies.”

It was the only class they had together aside from homeroom and P.E. Darlin was great at social studies, they didn’t need help. Milo took one look at them and they could tell he knew this, too. Marie, however, was fooled, because she grinned.

“Oh, you can help them, right, Mi?” she offered. She put a hand on her hip and pinned Milo with a stern look. “Your homework is done, correct?”

“You said it had to be done before Dad got home,” Milo grumbled. He checked the faux watch on his wrist. “So, I’ve got, uhhh, four days?”

Marie’s hand was swift, smacking him hard on back of the head. Darlin stifled a laugh, but knew Milo’s comment was based in truth. Colm was rarely seen and heard from even less, living and breathing at the Department as a beat cop. Most of the time, it was Marie and Milo at pack events. The last time Darlin saw Colm was months ago and it was obvious he was sour, something tense happening between himself and Marie.

“Knock it off,” she scolded, then turned back to Darlin. “Are you hungry? Dinner will be ready soon.”

“I can eat,” Darlin tried to answer nonchalantly. How did they not realize how starved they felt? Darlin felt like they could eat the Greer’s entire pantry in one sitting right now.

But their answer appeared to please Marie, as she disappeared back into the kitchen with a squeeze to Darlin’s shoulder. Milo stared, raising a brow.

“Social studies?” he said with less snark than Darlin was expecting. Still, they rolled their eyes.

“Can we just go downstairs?”

having heaven exist in spn post s5 is so bizarre because you then have to come up with motivations for the characters to not just let themselves die so they can hang out for eternity. Like why cling to any sanctity of life when the knowledge that the afterlife is real and is basically just retirement is established. So then sam and dean have to be motivated by their sense of Duty to Save the world for the sake of others, which is markedly less interesting than two fucked up guys on a sick vengeance quest who are clinging to a semblance of shared existence together
