Oneshots

Oneshots can typically take me anywhere from 45 minutes to a few days. I never go below 1,000 words, and I have only gone up to 4,000, however, I plan to improve and go past that. Keep in mind that when requesting oneshots they will take me some time to do, especially if I’m busy.

Example ;; Mycroft Holmes (BBC Sherlock) x Reader oneshot in which the reader is hired as Mycroft’s personal assistant. Over time, Mycroft discovers that he loves her after the reader takes a bullet for him.

Prompts

Imagines

Imagines don’t take me more than an hour usually. I keep them below 1,000 words, but typically they’re past 200 to 300 words long. When requesting these you can usually expect them to be done within in hour or so, unless I’m busy.

Prompts

Drabbles

Drabbles take me less than 30 minutes. They’re short and always exactly 100 words. I’d usually finish this anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes.

Headcanons

Depending on the request, these may vary from a couple hours to a few days if I need ideas. I don’t have a word limit for these, however, usually they are over 7 bullet points long.

Example ;; Headcanon for President of the Hospital Marcus Andrews (The Good Doctor) who’s dating a surgeon who works for him.

Preferences

Preferences are typically pretty quick for me to do depending on which fandom and how many characters you want. No word limit.

Aesthetics/Moodboards

Aesthetics/Moodboards are typically just a collage of photos for a character you want. It can be a character x reader collage, or even a specific character au that you want.

Ships are a small things for followers/readers to interact and ask me which characters I ship them with from a specific fandom.

What happens when you call fake phone numbers in movies? 'John Wick 2' uses 315 area code  

What happens when you call fake phone numbers in movies and TV shows?

In "John Wick: Chapter 2," an international network of assassins are all notified of a contract to kill the title character, played by Keanu Reeves.

"I have everyone in New York looking for him," Italian mobster Santino D'Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) tells Winston (Ian McShane) at the Continental Hotel.

The 2017 action movie, recently released on DVD and Video On Demand, then shows dozens of phones being alerted and violent attempts on John Wick's life in NYC. Two of the phone numbers displayed use the 315 area code common in Syracuse and Central New York: 315-194-6020 and 315-077-2231.

Go ahead, call them. We did.

Both numbers have an automated message from Verizon Wireless saying the calls cannot be completed as dialed. Sending text messages to those numbers also prompt an error message, saying they're connected to dead landline numbers.

That's probably better than what the movie wants you to believe: That the phone numbers belong to ruthless contract killers.

But why use real-sounding phone numbers? Why not stick with 555? The three-digit prefix has been used since the 1960s because many 555 numbers are set aside specifically for fictional use.  

"I hate 555 numbers in a movie," director George Nolfi told the Chicago Tribune in 2011. "We do so much work to try to help the audience suspend disbelief, particularly in a movie like 'The Adjustment Bureau' with a crazy premise. The idea of seeing a 555 number would really throw me out of a movie like that, so I asked for a real number, and they sent me to Universal's clearance department, and they said they own a real number."

"The Adjustment Bureau," directed by Nolfi, shows Emily Blunt giving Matt Damon a phone number with a New York area code: 212-664-7665. Fans tried calling it, and it similarly gave no answer.

According to the Tribune, Universal Pictures used the same fake 212 number in 2008's "Definitely, Maybe" and 2010's "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." The studio bought the digits specifically for use in films to avoid fake-sounding 555 numbers.

It also helps avoid complaints, like when Jim Carrey's 2003 movie "Bruce Almighty" displayed God's phone number as 776-2323. No area code was given, and sure enough, fans called it around the country. One Florida woman threatened to sue after receiving 20 calls an hour, and a minister -- who happened to be named Bruce -- was not amused that it was the same number as his church in North Carolina.

According to the Tribune, Universal thought it wouldn't be an issue because the film was set in Buffalo, where the number was not in use. To avoid lawsuits, the studio replaced it with a 555 number in television and home video versions of "Bruce Almighty."

E! News reports some studios have had fun with fake phone numbers, though, using the device to promote films and TV shows. "Scrubs" featured an episode with the number 916-CALL-TURK in 2004, and fans calling it got a recorded message from actor Donald Faison letting them know the show was moving to a different time slot.

"I am so excited," Faison said. "I can't believe you called me."

Similar stunts were used by "Gilmore Girls," "Supernatural" and "The Office." Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 movie "Magnolia" even set up a real line at 1-877-TAMEHER, where callers got an informercial message from Syracuse native Tom Cruise's character Frank "T.J." Mackey.

Tommy Tutone's 1982 hit song "867-5309/Jenny" caused many phone service providers to stop giving out the number, though the number works in some area codes. Some play the tune's catchy chorus, others feature automated messages joking about Jenny being not available.

Some studios have used telecom services to buy fake phone numbers for use in movies, like the recent "John Wick" sequel, to keep viewers immersed in the story. Because when watching Keanu Reeves kill more than 100 people with guns, knives and pencils (!) in a secret criminal underworld, it's easy to see how something silly like a fake phone number would suddenly make you think the story is implausible.

Is the Texas A&M case a slippery slope? Not if the NCAA does right.

A new rule gives transfers incentive to tattle on their previous schools on their way out the door. If that bothers colleges, they could fix it by changing one of the worst rules of all.

Texas A&M might be in hot water with the NCAA because of an outgoing transfer’s waiver request to play immediately at Arizona. Redshirt freshman linebacker Santino Marchiol left the Aggies for Tucson this summer, following fired A&M coach Kevin Sumlin to his new school. In Marchiol’s quest to convince the NCAA he should be allowed to play this year without sitting out, he has told the NCAA (and the world) about alleged violations at A&M.

There’s a lot of detail in that report by USA Today’s Dan Wolken. Some takeaways are here, but Marchiol alleges these three things against Jimbo Fisher’s staff:

-An assistant coach giving Marchiol cash to host recruits on visits that were supposed to be “unofficial” — i.e., not paid for by the school.

-Coaches showing up at supposedly “voluntary” June practices and fudging NCAA limits on what they were allowed to do at those sessions.

-A&M’s training staff mishandling an ankle injury that kept Marchiol off the field in 2017, by having him continue practicing when he didn’t think he should (and then taking X-rays after).

Those are a mix of things that would be NCAA violations if they were true and things that sound just plain bad, even if they’re not covered by NCAA rules.

Marchiol told on A&M to the NCAA because, under a new rule, giving up your old school might be the best path to getting eligible.

Last spring, inspired by a handful of transfers from Ole Miss who wanted to play elsewhere in the wake of NCAA sanctions, the NCAA passed a new rule.

It says that if a transfer left his previous school under “documented mitigating circumstances” beyond his control, he could be eligible to play without sitting out a season — the usual requirement — at his next school.

“Documented mitigating circumstances” is a broad term, but it’s clear that the NCAA meant something like “if your last school got into NCAA trouble or got caught lying about its NCAA trouble.” That’s what happened at Ole Miss, the school whose case brought about the rule. Marchiol’s lawyer is Thomas Mars, who also represented Ole Miss players as they sought immediate eligibility elsewhere. The stories aren’t exactly one-to-one, though.

Naturally, this dynamic could lead to a slippery slope. Won’t transfers all over the country now air their old schools’ dirty laundry to the NCAA?

When players get more power, that tends to worry schools.

The Athletic’s Max Olson and CBS Sports’ Barrett Sallee both argue that Marchiol’s strategy could set a precedent around the sport. As Olsen writes:

The implications here are fascinating. If Marchiol’s efforts are successful, delivering dirt on your former school in exchange for immediate eligibility at your new school is a transaction that should terrify a lot of coaches.

If schools are worried about getting snitched on by every outgoing transfer, there’s one really easy way to circumvent the problem.

Just let every transfer play right away, without a requirement to sit out a season.

The rule change dealing with “mitigating circumstances” was a step forward for player rights. Still, more transfers than not have their movement restricted by the requirement that they sit a season after picking a new school. In Marchiol’s case, because he already redshirted once, sitting out 2018 would cost him a year of college competition. That’s because the NCAA requires players to play all four seasons within a five-year period.

It’s good that the NCAA is giving more players the chance to play right away when they go to new schools. Schools might be right to worry about other players replicating Marchiol’s approach down the line, pitting their old teams against the NCAA so they can play, too. But if they don’t want that to take hold, they have the power to stop it now.

Schools are the NCAA. They make the bad amateurism rules that players could now use to get these same rule-makers into trouble. The simplest option is to just let everyone play without sitting out. Or schools could just not break the rules they set together. But you tell me whether that seems more practical than treating athletes more fairly in the first place.

You can do it two ways:

1b. What should I include in the request?

The person you want me to write the request for and the scenario for it. If you want anything specific - just throw it in, the better description = the better the fic you get as an outcome.

You want smut, fluff or angst? You want something over-the-top dirty or just itty-bitty erotic? S P E C I F Y. This helps a lot!

Anything that makes me uncomfortable, is a non-con or it’s not in the circle of what I usually write won’t be written. When it comes to smut I’m okay with most of the kinks that are up there.

2. How long will it take for me to write your request?

It depends on few factors:

the amount of my working hours;

the amount of my free time;

the writing/creative flow;

the type of request.

I will try to stick to chronology when it comes to request (first come first serve rule), but if something tickles my fancy more or I just am in the right mood for something I will push it to the top of the list.

Also I will let you know if the request got accepted.
