For those post... 2010? The Nanny fans who want more fic and haven't discovered this one yet (or those older fans who thought this site was lost), let me introduce you to the Real Unofficial Nanny Home Page (RUNHP). Not online anymore, but well archived on the Internet Archive.

It was my home away from home for much of my teen years. It had screen caps when only a few people had capture cards. It shared interviews, appearances and titbits before we knew how to find them (especially us non-US folks). And it had fanfic. So much fanfic. I have personally archived about 800 stories from there.

Barb was the webmistress of the site, and especially in the beginning, you had to submit your story and she might not publish it. Also, most stories were written during the shows run, which means that most of it is Fran/Max. There is some Niles/CC, and I don't think there are any other pairings (except maybe TN Character/OC). Also, most of it is rated G or T, later stuff might be rated M/E.

Some authors made it over to FF.net (I don't think I know of any besides me who made it to AO3, if there are I would love to know) and republished stories there. But a lot are just on that site. Also, we did a virtual seventh which was quite fun.

Recommended authors: Christine Davis (F/M & N/CC), IvanaBGood (N/CC and the one who opened my eyes to that pairing), and SMB (F/M). If you want angsty teenager-written fic (some self-insert even) written by me, look for Sara (the one with the most fics).

Anyway, if you are craving more fics, if you want to see what people thought while the show was still on the air (and we didn't know even if Fran and Max would get together, let alone Niles and CC), have fun!

second, a question - so i'm not sure if it was a fever dream or something, but i remember Lambert telling Milena a poem in Must Brave The Thorns i think? maybe it was by edna vincent st millay? i've been going spare trying to find it, do you remember which one it was please?

I suspect what you're looking for is the poem Lambert quotes in Your Faults Have Made Me Love You More. Like all the titles in the Accidental Warlord series, it's from a Sara Teasdale poem; this one is The Wanderer, from her book Love Songs, which is available on Gutenberg.

Lambert only quotes the last two stanzas, of course, since there's no Nile in the Witcher 'verse, and I don't think they've got Perseus and Medusa either.

I highly recommend all of Sara Teasdale's work! I find it very beautiful, obviously, and I wish she was better known.

lovable background characters

employer-employee romance in which somehow there isn't too much of a power imbalance

a girlboss with great hair and fashion sense (i honestly can't stand her clothes but it's not meant to be ugly either, just flashy)

a bitchy, yet still loveable second female lead who actually has no chance with the guy she's trying to seduce but is convinced she's the first lead.

i know i know it's a reach but i was watching the best bits of The Nanny on youtube and there's the running gag of how Fran Fine can't admit to her real age (at some point a classmate of hers reveals her own but Fran protests that said classmate was held back multiple times so they're not the same age, even the FBI couldn't find her real age when doing a background check, at the beginning of the series she says ''yeah right what a loss to be lodged on the grounds i'll miss being er... twenty-fivee, and living at my parents house" with the butler snickering and saying "yeah right, twenty-five" -might be another age can't remember-) and the whole point is that... it works because we know that even if the male lead is older than her, she's a grown adult and also they might be closer in age than we know because we don't really know how old she is exactly. And that doesn't turn into a "bitter older woman doesn't want to age" like some in lore olympus do, because it's a running gag, it's not a drama subplot.

And C.C. is a much more gracefully written second female lead than Minthe, despite being the live-in friend and associate who's trying to seduce the male lead, because 1) she stays friends with him even when he doesn't show any reciprocated feelings 2) she's constantly ridiculized when trying to seduce him, but so is the main female lead, Fran, at least in the beginning 3) she has her own character arc beyond being a golddigging woman who doesn't want to age and 4) she has her own banter antagonist, Niles, who she has power over while simultaneously not (he's a butler but not hers, so she's higher in the hierarchy but has no direct power over her) and in summary she has her own friends, ennemies, family and character arc.

And we may not know a lot about what Maxwell (the male lead) does at work, but we constantly see him working over files, or discussing work with C.C., and we know what his work is precisely (producer of musicals) and we know he despises Lloyd Weber and there's a running gag of him wanting Cats to close down, etc. He has a life outside of the female lead, she has a life outside of him, they both have jobs, although she works for him, and neither hesitate to call out the other on their flaws, pre and during relationship.

In summary, if RS had written Lore Olympus as a goofy office/nanny&employer sitcom instead of some huge-stakes political thriller with twenty plot lines that she abandonned halfway through, it would have been way better.

Come on, if you've watched The Nanny and read LO, don't tell me you wouldn't want Hermes and Minthe banter a la Niles and CC, or Leuce in the role of Sara (Maxwell's late wife), or even Persephone and Hades just... having a discussion other than sex talk.

In the Wee Small Hours (A The Nanny Fic)

Title:  In the Wee Small Hours Summary: A late night conversation reveals a softer side to C.C. Rating: G, for now. Might go up in later parts. Author’s Note: This came to me, and I decided to run with it. There will be more parts, yes.

I checked it through with Grammarly, so it sounds okay, tell me if it doesn’t 😘Feedback/likes are so appreciated. Will also be posted to AO3.

It wasn’t unusual for C.C. to stay at the mansion, sometimes the endless revisions to plays and productions ate up her time and it was too late to head back to her apartment which truthfully, she preferred, her apartment was so cold and sterile compared to the Sheffield’s home; it was warm, and the fridge was always stocked with goodies and alcohol, what more could a person want?

The house was quiet, the family has gone to be hours ago. In her early days of staying over, C.C. entertained the idea of sneaking into Maxwell’s bedroom and offering herself to him, but she could imagine how that would go down, rejection and never-ending ridicule from Niles if she failed. She wouldn’t be able to show her face again. Getting the ice cream out of the fridge she leaned on the counter, taking a few mouthfuls.

She heard soft footsteps come down the stairs and hoped that it wasn’t Nanny Fine, she did not want to put up with that woman right now. C.C. looked over, surprised to see that it was in fact Brighton coming down the stairs. She didn’t have a lot of contact with the children, she preferred it that way, but the boy looked unsettled, she supposed she could try talking to him.

“You’re up late. Everything all right?”

Brighton shrugged as he went to get a glass of milk, an important date was coming up that the rest of the family had either chosen to ignore or had forgotten about but not him, and it had been playing on his mind.

C.C. wondered what it was that had put him in such a melancholy mood, a test at school perhaps? Bullies? A girl? As she observed him, she couldn’t help but notice how much he resembled his mother; Maxwell often said as such about the girls, but C.C. thought it truer of him. She glanced over at the calendar and suddenly understood what was vexing him.

“Ah, Sara’s birthday.” She’d been too involved in work to notice the date was fast approaching. It wasn’t something the family celebrated; Maxwell always tried to distract the kids with some activity to do that day so they wouldn’t be sad and while it worked, C.C. could tell it wouldn’t this time.

“You were friends, right? You don’t talk about her.”

“Your father thought it would be easier for you and your sisters if we didn’t.” She took a seat next to Brighton. “But I miss her every day, I still expect her to be here when I walk in.” C.C. smiled sadly.

“When her birthday comes around, I try to do everything that we would have done together; get coffee, go to the theatre, come back and annoy Niles while he’s cooking.” She chuckled; that was one tradition she kept alive daily. “Then I go to the cemetery and place flowers on her grave.”

“Thank you,” Brighton answered, he hadn’t been to their mother’s grave in years, and it never felt like the right time to ask. It was nice to know that Miss Babcock kept the woman in her memory.  “I just wish I remembered more about her,” Brighton said solemnly; his memory had gaps and while they had home videos, it wasn’t the same.

“You get your cocky attitude from her,” C.C. commented, while Maxwell would claim otherwise, C.C. knew that Sara was the real comedian; One time she had even suggested that Niles was in love with her, C.C. Babcock, the very idea. “And you have her smile.”

“Do you think I can come with you when you go to the cemetery? I just want to see her, I guess.” Brighton knew she wasn’t there, that it was just bones and a piece of stone that commemorated who his mother had been, but he wanted to visit.

 “Perhaps if you decide to take a sudden interest in the theatre on that day, something can be arranged.” C.C. could always use a gopher and then let him walk in Sara’s footsteps.

“I can probably go to sleep now. Thanks, Miss Babcock.”

“Don’t tell anyone about this all right? I’ve got a reputation to protect.” It cannot be known that she was nice to a child, she would never work in this town again.

Brighton washed out his cup and put it in the dishwasher. “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight, Brighton.” She smiled and went back to her ice cream.

In another part of the house, Niles had been privy to the entire conversation having figured out long ago how to keep the kitchen intercom on, finding it helpful to keep him abreast of goings on. When he heard Miss Babcock address Brighton, he thought perhaps he should intervene should the witch try to cook him in the oven but something out of the ordinary happened; the ice queen ended up having a civil conversation with the boy, one where they had seemingly planned to celebrate the late Mrs Sheffield’s birthday together.

Niles had to wonder if the real Miss Babcock had been taken by pod people with a copy put in her place because there would be no way that she would willingly spend time with one of Maxwell’s children. He needed to find out what her angle was.

When he got to the kitchen, C.C. was rummaging through the fridge, Nile took a moment to take in her outfit; white silk pyjamas with a matching long robe, very different from what Miss Fine wore but classy, Niles expected no less. He moved quietly until he was behind her, then spoke. “What are you up to, witch?”

The voice was unexpected, and it caused C.C. to jump, almost dropping the cake she had retrieved from the fridge. She glared at Niles and put it over on the counter. “Eating cake? What, did you have a bad dream or something?”

“Mm yes, it was quite horrifying. I dreamt you were a decent person.”

C.C. smirked as she cut into the cake. “That doesn’t sound like me. What was I doing? Feeding the poor? Giving away my money?”

“Comforting a child.”

Her eyes snapped to Niles’, his words were too much of a coincidence for him to come up with such a thing on his own, he must have had the kitchen bugged or something.

it was a thrill watching the heiress so unnerved. “You put so much effort into pretending you don’t care but deep down you do have a heart. You even remembered Brighton’s name.”

Of course, C.C. knew Brighton’s name, she was his godmother after all, but it was one of those titles that had been lost over time due to Sara’s passing.

“You’ll be telling Mr Sheffield about your plans, yes? Should bring your brownie points up to one.” Not that he kept a chart, but Miss Babcock would have to put in extra effort if she was going to catch up to Miss Fine.

 C.C. glared at him; did he really think her to be so shallow as to use her friend’s death to get in Maxwell’s good books? “Okay servant, what is your silence going to cost? Name your price.” C.C. regretted her words immediately, who knew what the butler would want in return, or how long he would hold it over her?

Niles smiled devilishly, having the producer in his debt had several interesting possibilities. “A decision such as this should not be made lightly, like a fine wine it needs to be savoured.”

God, he was pretentious. “Well, I’m going to bed, some of us work early.” C.C. made her way back up to her room, going over in her head what Niles could ask for. He could be crafty, but a Babcock’s word was their bond, C.C. would have to honour it, whatever it was.

It couldn’t be that bad, right?

Did you see the announcement that Adam is going to be in Heat 2 with Michael Mann again? What are your thoughts on that? Do you have any dream team directors you would like to see him work with? I wish he’d do the Chloe Zhao Dracula movie!

HI! Sorry it took me a while to get to this.

I did hear the Michael Mann announcement, and all AD movie announcements are definitely good news to me! I've never been super impressed with Mann as a director and I have disliked all of his movies that I've seen, which admittedly aren't all of them. I'd be very happy if he did a Last Mohicans 2 and let AD have long hair and run around shirtless for 2 hours fucking people up with a hatchet, but Heat 2 isn't really blowing my skirt up. In all fairness, I've never Heat 1 so now I need to. I'll see how he looks in it before I get too excited lol. I made that mistake with Megalopolis by getting super excited over an upcoming movie only to have my hopes crushed when the first pics leaked. Megalopolis now falls under the same category for me as White Noise - I'll watch it, but I'm going to bitch the whole time, and need a Jacques and Mills mental palette cleanser afterward!

I haven't see a Chloe Zhao movie, so I can't weigh in on her as a director. But I have heard the Dracula rumors and how it's supposed to be a Dracula Western and omfg I would love that!! That would definitely be on my dream list of AD movies. However, I personally speculate that with the new stupidly fun looking Nic Cage Dracula movie coming out, AD will not want to take a Dracula role. Which is really too bad. But I think he likes to be more original than that. I'd love to be wrong though!

Here are the directors I'd love to see him work with! The first three are my top three in order, then they're just random as they came into my head.

Chad Stahelski aka the John Wick director! AD needs to be the next John Wick! Or a bad guy in a John Wick movie! Or anything similar! Absolutely one of my dream roles for him! The John Wick movies are favorites, complete with some of the best action around, hot and well dressed men, gorgeous cinematography, and kick ass music. I love them! AD in a John Wick sort of role and all the things that are bound up in that get my #1 vote!

Quentin Tarantino. I have my fingers crossed that AD will be in his upcoming movie! That would be a dream for me! Inglorious Basterds, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Django Unchained, and Deathproof are some favorites of mine. AD really has to get Tarantino on his punch card for the best directors out there, and I really hope he doesn't miss the opportunity to work with him.

Clint Eastwood. Preferably in a western playing a scruffy cowboy with facial scars! I love Clint Eastwood and he's so good and genuine with creating rugged manly men. I grew up watching his movies and loving them all and I still do. Unforgiven, The Outlaw Josey Wales, and Two Mules for Sister Sara are favorites of mine.

Robert Eggars. I would actually bet that AD will team up with him at some point because they’re both young and have plenty of time to do so, and they both like strong talent and making dark weird things. They’re meant for each other! I personally want another hyper masculine role like Northman. I would kill to see AD in something like that! They could even repeat the naked volcano fight and I wouldn't mind at all!

Tim Burton. Gorgeous movies with great occult vibes! AD would be perfect to play a dark disturbed Victorian dude!

Guy Richie. Great action, great characters, hilarious dialogue. His movies are all a blast!

Kenneth Branagh. HIs movies are so beautiful! I'd kill for AD to have been in Death on the Nile! That would have kept my adventurer vibes going for years! Any intelligent, beautifully filmed, period murder mystery would be great by me.

Guillermo Del Toro. Another director who does beautiful and dark so well! Weird, macabre, and a match made in heaven!

Ridley Scott. In another period movie! By making him so unbelievably hot as Jacques and letting him lean fully into his hotness, Ridley is now one of my all-time favorite directors! He was in my favorites anyway and I love so many of his movies, but that gave him an extra boost! Ridley did two awesome period movies with Russell Crowe. They actually did five movies together total - three of them were great and one was even a romantic comedy! Ridley owes the same with AD as a minimum! He's another top tier choice for me for another period piece or an epic.

After Cocaine Bear, Elizabeth Banks gets my vote for the woman director he should work with first! That was so much fun and I would love to see AD in a campy action/horror comedy where he could do dark physical comedy.

These next three would never happen, but it’d be so much fun!

Gore Verbinsky. Some first rate adventure like Pirates of the Caribbean! I love those moves so much!

Stephen Sommers. The Mummy and Van Helsing are some of my all time favorites and anything similar would be a blast with him!

Baz Lurhman. I don’t actually like a lot of his movies, but they’re all SO gorgeous and he lets his men be hot! AD needs to make more pretty movies! Baz took my second favorite, Hugh Jackman, and gave him his hottest role ever in the western Australia. It was hard to top Wolverine, but Baz did it!

I actually feel super lucky and very happy that two of my dream roles for him he’s already done, and even luckier that they’re the two where I find him the absolute hottest! A badass knight and a rugged action hero!

I'd love to know who everyone else has on their dream list of directors if anyone wants to weigh in!
