Website Changes
So after talking to my classmates about my Google site, they seemed to like it overall. They stated that it looks fun and color-coordinated, but serious enough for a third grader.
My classmates did suggest some text changes. On the top of the page, I had stated that I was giving these kids “something to do if they were bored”. This made it seem as if doing this work was merely a suggestion instead of a requirement. I changed this text to state the reasons why we were doing this at home instead -- to benefit the child by not running coursework into their summer vacation.
I also adjusted the goal for the lesson, where I had originally just focused on making the brownies. I went more in-depth with the goal, stating that we are trying to figure out what happens when we combine solids and liquids. Some get more liquidy, some get more solid. I did mention chemical reactions that might be the exceptions to the rules and mentioned that we would talk about those later in the year.
There is the problem with volume on my video that I have attempted to change, but can’t. Sometimes it’s quieter in some parts than in others. I have adjusted these things on my ipad and tried to change them to no avail.

Hey there my friends! So this is going to be part of a collection for my class assignment. We are to write blog posts in response to prompts. It was a crazy Labor Day weekend, so I’m writing this a little late (sorry Doctor!) BUTTTTT HERE IT IS.

Prompt:
Who are your learners? Tell me about who you plan to teach and what you anticipate they will be like. What should you consider about your learners as you plan and design learning opportunities/tools? In other words, what are some general implications of your students on your approach to teaching? What new insights did you gain from reading Chapter 2? Be sure to draw connections to ideas discussed in Dirksen, Chapter 2.

When I become a teacher, the truth is that my learners could vary -- my degree is going to be in elementary education, which is very broad. I could teach anything from first to fourth grade. However, my dream grade would be in the middle of that -- not so early that I’m babysitting but not so late that the children have lost motivation. So, I hope to be teaching around the third grade. I am choosing this grade level due to my belief that intrinsic motivation is still strong in this grade. I believe that this is around the turning point -- that a good teacher can either make or break whether the child loves learning or not at this exact point.Third graders typically still love school, and my role is to maintain that intrinsic motivation, which the book mentions.
I’m pretty sure my learners will mostly be the “Hey this is cool” and “Oooh - shiny” learners, but I may have a few “required course” and “fear change” learners (29). What this means is that I expect most of my third graders will be legitimately interested in the material, but there may be a few students who are just along for the ride or who don’t like change. If I run into the “required course” learners, I will try to do as the book says and scour their situation for intrinsic motivation -- most material should be relevant in some way or form for everyone! If that doesn’t work I can always “look for their pain points” - I promise I won’t torture my students!- and try to make connections between the material and relieving their agitation towards it,making extrinsic motivation transform into intrinsic. I also hope to make a safe environment, where failure is a normal part of life.
As a teacher, I will need to consider the way my students learn as I plan opportunities and tools, and what knowledge they bring to the table. Some students might have a higher skill level than others and I need to accommodate for that. I can do so with scaffolding, using support material such as walk-throughs and even putting other experienced students in groups with those who need a little growth (40). I will need to be careful about the advanced students -- I don’t want to treat them like the rest of the students in fear that they’ll become bored, but I don’t want to single them out too much. I will need to find a way to keep intrinsic motivation alive in them, supporting them in their search for knowledge while not leaving the rest of my students behind.Another thing to keep aware of would be different learning styles. Some people learn through book reading, others learn through doing. A nice thing I could do is offer many ways in order to complete a project- they can do a paper, a presentation, or make a model!
A lot of chapter two was review for me, but I always thoroughly enjoy learning about different learning styles. It’s amazing to me that some people aren’t aware that others learn in different ways. I learned more about relating to those who learn differently and new methods I could implement for them.

Welcome to my blog!
Hello everyone! This blog is for a class called Intro to Rhetoric. For the class, we need to make a blog where we interact with rhetoric, so here is mine!
How did I define ‘rhetoric’ on January 13, 2021? 
“I think rhetoric is what happens when one focuses their words or maybe even actions as well to convince somebody of something. It has to do with knowing your audience, knowing different approaches you could take, choosing an appropriate approach, and adapting as you go to create the most impactful delivery”
What associations did I have with the word ‘rhetoric’ on January 13, 2021?
“When I hear the word 'rhetoric,' I think of speeches given by politicians, from an inaugural address to the Declaration of Independence. I think of arguments, such as televised debates, or even Twitter clapbacks. I think of advertising, both colorful logos to detailed pamphlets. I also think of sermons, conversations with friends about what we should do to hang out, and articles in the news. From what I remember from high school, I associate rhetoric with logos, ethos, pathos, and kairos, and having to write brief works using those elements. Historically, I have images of toga-swathed Romans or maybe Greeks debating some topic that we still speak about today. I think of how I anticipate learning much more about rhetoric in this class! Last, I anticipate creating this blog about rhetoric. 
How do I think my definition / associations will change?
I think I will learn more theory about debates surrounding what rhetoric is. Is all human communication rhetoric? Or just communication meant to convince? Is all communication meant to convince? I will learn more technical words to define elements of rhetoric. I believe, as I take this class, that I will thicken my associations with rhetoric with new names of famous figures, famous speeches, and famous schools of thought surrounding rhetoric.

Assignment 1-My favorite things

The first thing that is on my list of favorite things, are my dogs. I love animals, but I love dogs in particular. They always come to me when I get home, and they are always really happy about it. They can sense if i are happy, sad or angry. And they adjust to my mood.
The second thing I love, is volleyball. I like to be active, and I am also a social person. Volleyball is a team sport, and I am always having fun with my teammates. I can truly be myself when I am  around them, they are kind of like my second family. Everyone at the sport club knows each other, and it is a really safe place to be yourself.
Some other thing I get really happy from is:
- music
- Being with my family and friends
- eating in restaurants and good food
