That link is sold out, but it looks like it's published through an indy publisher specializing in sewing and embroidery books. So here's another link for you:
This is the book I'm using, btw, for anyone else interested in learning to sew.
I started off with a beginner's sewing class at a local quilting store, and now I'm moving through the 12 projects in the book.

Eddie obviously knows how to sew (hes not only dirt-poor living off of a single consistent paycheck and whatever he earns selling drugs, but hes also a punk- theres no way he DOESNT know how to sew), but steve most definitely does. not. one of his shirts get a hole and he throws it out.
When eddie first witnesses this, hes fucking MORTIFIED and ends up digging a t-shirt out of the trash and sewing the hole closed and fixing the loose stitching on the hem and gives steve a lecture about not wasting fabric and money.
And from then on, steve just shows up at the munson household every now and then with various clothes in his arms, asking eddie to fix them for him.

@themolluscasometimes said she wanted a Skinhe plush and now this skin creature lives in her home because I asked 'how much do you want one?' and everything spiraled from there. The most interesting part of all this has been explaining who and what he is to people not in the know - stay insane svsss fandom

This is. Hmm. Decidedly more orange than I was anticipating, I thought it would be more of a medium brown. This is definitely more terracotta than cinnamon to me.
However! It does drape beautifully, almost feels like a heavy silk crepe. Not at all as flimsy as I thought viscose was going to be. I have confronted my prejudice, realized the error of my ways and am grateful for the opportunity to adjust my views.
Tumblr media
Giving muted carrot vibes but it works I think. it's going on the inside anyway, who cares.
As for the wool, I finally washed it! No machine washing this time, I gave it a not-so-gentle soak in the bathtub with laundry detergent and hot water. I walked all over it, whacked it a bit for good measure, but that didn't achieve much besides making the fabric less stiff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pre wash left, post wash right.
This is fine as I wanted to preserve the twill diagonals and overall rough look, and didn't want to felt it. I finished it with a lanolin bath, which did improve the softness of the fabric immensely.
Tumblr media
lovely 💚
I didn't lose much width or length, so I'm gonna stick with my original plan
Tumblr media
Excuse the light but this works I think. Now all I have to do is cut it (😬) sew a few seams, sew the inlay, add pockets and done.

yeah like having to deal with the obnoxious middle aged women who thrift to resell wasn't bad enough, now we got the braindead fast fashion bozos cluttering things up too.
its ok shirt, i will love you like somebody else apparently couldn't even if you shed microplastics into the water supply and will fall apart after 7 wears. and then i'll sew you back together like anyone with two braincells to rub together Should

Back in ye olde small phone days, I had this little pouch that clipped to my backpack strap and it was so great - my phone and transit card (and mini Maglite, chapstick, earphones etc) were right there! No having to dig them out of my pack! But all joy is fleeting and when I upgraded my phone, it didn't fit. No more convenient pouch.
Except fast forward to now, in possession of both loom and sewing machine, and it hit me that I could just...make one that did fit. So I did!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wove the cloth on the rigid heddle out of 4ply merino/silk and the bands on the inkle loom out of 8/4 cotton, grabbed some quilting cotton for the lining, and sewed them all up into a little zippered pouch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A band runs up the back with a clip that clips to the D-ring, and I sewed velcro to the side bands to wrap around the strap and secure it in place. It holds my phone and everything else, right where I need them, and I'm so chuffed!

New cloak wahoo
Gonna add a dart to the left shoulder I think, once I have the buttons on. Dunno if it was historical practice, but it’ll shape it nicer
