We Reap What We Sow! 3
I REMEMBER being at school when the only person who would visit about their work would be a police officer and, respectfully, we were told primarily about the rights and wrongs but not about joining the force. Thankfully, here at least, we are given a lot more information and good career advice. In conversation with DC Pascal YESTERDAY, I had the pleasure of visiting and speaking at another…

honestly I prefer Hot Fuzz over Shaun of the Dead. All the characters in the latter are annoying as hell and the main source of comedy in that movie is “look at how much these people suck”. Hot Fuzz is better because it has a competent lead character to balance out everyone else’s nonsense. That and the comedy is sourced from the real life fact that all br*tish people are sociopaths

Idea for a movie trilogy:
Similar to the “Cornetto Trilogy”, an anthology trilogy in which the main connecting feature is the cast and a joke that is split up between all three movies. What I mean is that:
1) the first movie starts a long joke, but the character gets cut off before they can finish it.
2) the second movie has a scene where a character is in the middle of telling a joke. Keen viewers will realize that the joke is picking up where the first movie left off. The character is cut off again.
3) the third movie does the same thing as the previous movie, but the character finally finishes the joke.
We can call this the “Finish The Punchline!” Trilogy.
A hypothetical outline of this trilogy could be:
1) “The Fist of San Diego”: Martial arts comedy film. A young girl (Jenna Ortega) who grew up in a hidden island of warriors is told by the island elder to find the reincarnation of the society’s founder before their enemies do. She ends up in San Diego, California, where she confuses a celebrity martial artist (Pedro Pascal) as the reincarnated founder. Shenanigans ensue as the real reincarnated founder (Steven Yeun) is actually an ordinary Starbucks barista who the young girl just missed.
2) “The Cursed Blade of Muramasa”: Period/historical action adventure movie. In the 1960s, an infamous grave robber (Steven Yeun) discovers a map that leads to the Cursed Blade of Muramasa. Since he can’t decipher the map’s puzzles, he hires an expert (Pedro Pascal), who brings along his daughter (Jenna Ortega). Shenanigans ensue as the father and daughter, who have never been in a dangerous adventure, have to tag along with the grave robber. Along the way, the trio deals with the Yakuza, who are also looking for the blade.
3) “Blood Heist”: A fusion of a heist film and a horror comedy. In a society where supernatural beings and humans coexist with each other, a vampire (Jenna Ortega) stages a heist on a blood bank that is said to have the highest quality of blood in the city. She recruits several vampires to help her. Among them is a hacker (Steven Yeun) who claims he is a vampire, but is actually a werewolf. Along the way, the robbers are being watched by the lead human detective (Pedro Pascal), who has a soft spot for the vampires.

Shaun White Engaged to Nina Dobrev: His Proposal Prank
Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images Imagine you’re getting psyched up to have dinner with Anna Wintour. To discuss CDFA/Vogue business, which is very cool and important and one of the few things you’re willing to leave the house for, because you’re kind of under-the-weather and need to rest up before a big trip. So you go to glam and you get all shiny and cute. And then when you get to the…

On My Radar: 3.23.19

VISIT: Emeril Lagasse, Robert LeBlanc, Slade Rushing and Tommy Digovanni recently shared their favorite restaurant dishes in New Orleans with The Scout Guide. In this article, Robert LeBlanc claims Meauxbar has the best trout almandine — so naturally I had to put him to the test. My family and I booked a pre theatre dinner at this French Quarter establishment, and hands down, Meauxbar Chef John Bel wins. Not only was the fish the absolute best, so was the ambience, the service, and the entire experience. I’m looking forward to scouting out all of the other recommendations from these key stakeholders in the New Orleans restaurant industry.
LOVE: Happy 30th birthday to Azby’s! Celebrate local with Kerry Bruno and team Azby’s all weekend long with 20% off clothing and shoes. After you pop into this West Mag boutique, stroll down to the PRC Shotgun House Tour just on the other side of Jefferson Avenue — and then keep walking! Spring has arrived in the city and all of the stores are filled to the brim with color, so you don’t want to miss the opportunity to explore the city and find something new to love!
WANT: Now that it is finally outdoor living weather, I want all new outdoor furniture! Villa Vici is having a Lee Industries sale until the end of March. With 30% off, I just might have to pull the trigger.
LEARN: Shaun Smith heads to Houston this week for Texas Design Week! Find him at Found alongside Paloma Contreras where they will discuss Contemporary Design in Traditional South with Katy B. Olson, Editor of AD Pro on Friday March 29th. Looking for recommendations on what to see and do in Houston? Make sure to consult the recently released TSG!
MEET: I’m thrilled to introduce the beautiful Emily LaBorde, makeup artist, girl boss and owner of BLEU, A BLOWDRY BAR. Emily, along with her BLEU “KREWE” of 20+ employees, seeks to empower ladies by providing luxury hair and makeup services so they look as fabulous as they feel. Find out more about Emily’s small business here.
TELL THEM SCOUT SENT YOU!

Since there's no letter from our good friend Jonathan Harker today here are some vampire movies you can watch to fill your daily vampire quota:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992): Predating the show, this is a cheesy, Clueless-esque romcom... with vampires. High school senior Buffy finds out she is the chosen one, destined to kill the evil vampires which are running rampant in SoCal. But hey, on the bright side, she gets to ride a motorcycle, wear a kickass outfit, and date Luke Perry!
The Lost Boys (1987): This movie has everything an 80s vampire movie should have: incredible fashion, barely concealed homoerotic subtext, a kooky grandpa, excellent music, a shirtless buff guy playing the saxophone, an Echo and the Bunnymen cover of People Are Strange, and Kiefer Sutherland as a punk vampire.
What We Do In The Shadows (2014): I'm sure all of you know this one, but I'm including it anyways because it's one of my favourite vampire movies of all time. If you haven't seen it, it's essentially a mockumentary about a group of vampire roommates in New Zealand – and also their human friend Stu.
Bloodsucking Bastards (2015): Kind of like Shaun of the Dead except with vampires. It's a workplace comedy about a guy, his ex, and his best friend. Oh, and their new vampire boss: Pedro Pascal.
Let The Right One In (2008): I have some mixed feelings about this movie. I wouldn't call it good, per se – the writing is all over the place, the plot and characters are bizarre, and (unfortunately not uncommon in horror) there's some questionable trans rep – but if nothing else I think it stands as an unintentional comedy, and an important entry in the recent history of vampire movies. It follows a young Swedish boy who forms a close friendship with the girl next door, only to discover that she's a vampire.
Nosferatu (1922): One of the most iconic vampire films of all time, second only to Dracula itself. It's actually also a loose adaption of Dracula, but it's better known for the visuals and German expressionist aesthetic than the plot.

Finally getting around to watching The Last of Us episode one. No spoilers talk. I'll just say wow this is intense. And I am a huuuuuuuge baby when it comes to zombie anything.
I hate it, I got scared during Shaun of the Dead first time around. Which, don't get me wrong, I love that movie but yeah that's how much of a pussio I am when it comes to zombie shit. Especially like...dawn of zombie apocalypse shit when the whole world falls apart and just....N O P E.
So I've never played the games, I will never play the games and am lowkey regretting my life choices at the moment but everyone on the internet is losing their tits over it so I gotta see what all the fuss is about.
And so far, it's awesome. Did I have to pause it halfway through because I was getting overwhelmed sitting in the dark watching it?
Yup.
The only thing I will say about this show is holy fuck Pedro Pascal continues to just knock it out of the park. It's just gut wrenching watching him act his heart out in this show.
Woof. Just...woof. This show is intense suffice it to say. And I knew some of the major spoilers thanks to the internet but I was not emotionally prepared for this. I definitely need something light and fluffy after this.
