It's not totally clear here why Dave's dream self appears to be already awake while his real self is also awake. I think we must infer that his dream self is in some sort of "waking trance" where he's technically awake but too preoccupied by certain things to be considered fully awake.

thinking about jade being lonely as hell on her island and going to sleep waking up on prospit and seeing john (not knowing his name yet) asleep plagued with the creepy dersite doll dreams with the scary teeth and just aughhhh

and she’d like overhear the white queen talk about the dark kingdom derse and the prince(sse)s of the moon that are there and trying to attract as little attention as possible jade would fly out there through the medium because shes so lonely. and she’d go to the purple moons’ towers. she’d find a girl is sound asleep in her purple robes and bed. but the other kid on the moon she finds is awake! except… not really. more like in a trance state. awake but not conscious. but she likes to hear whatever garbled stuff this triangle-speced boy has to say

the trip is long but jade visits this boy a few times since he’s the only non-asleep person like her she can interact with face to face. he usually seems lost in his own world, usually listening to music or talking to himself about stuff that doesnt make much sense. when she’s deprived of sapient affection she’ll touch him in small gestures like holding his hand while he listens to his music and he’ll squeeze back instinctually, and it helps her experience a microdose of the human connection. maybe he doesnt get much in the way of sapient affection either. when she hears The Horrors of the furthest ring another dream headset pops into existence for her to listen along with him and they listen to whatever music hes making. who is he

Since I LOVE your writing & I recently saw your post about why Minthara should be able to confront Orin, can I request your portrayal of how that would go down? If you're busy that's 110% okay 😊

So far, you're the third person to ask me to detail my idea of Minthara's personal quest. Right now, it's kind of just a bullet point list so it'll take me some time to actually put it into words and add it to the queue of drafts waiting to be posted.

However, if you have read my main fic, you'll kind of already have an idea of what that personal quest would look like. There were a lot of reasons why I wrote To Be Free From the Gods in the way that I did with the big ones being 1) I was mad about a no Minthara origin and 2) I was mad that there was no direct confrontation between Minthara and Orin and 3) I was mad at no Minthara personal quest. We only get to see one version of Minthara and that is of her as a companion as she will only really do what you tell her to do. But Minthara's decision making would be completely different if she was the leader of the group (although a true Minthara origin would look completely different than what I wrote in my fic).

A lot of people constantly talk and bitch that Minthara cannot be changed. What they fail to recognize is that Minthara does change, just not in the way that they want or expect. Minthara also changes for herself and without the direct influence of the player and without the intention to appeal to the player, which is something that people really do not like. There are some people that just really hate it when other people change without their explicit permission or changes in a way that does not make them feel good about themselves. However, I do understand why some people feel like Minthara doesn't change at all by the end of the game. Minthara is someone who is ruled by fear and most of the decisions she makes is informed by that fear. Perhaps Minthara is stuck in a cycle of fear because she isn't given the chance to overcome it like everyone else does.

Then I can't help but laugh and cry. Cause we can see the man throw his weapon away? I can't tell if it's some sort of rifle or a stick or just something long, but he tosses it the moment Sabine starts to choke him. Like he chucks that shit a foot away. Almost like he's trying to not seem threatening, while also not moving or trying to attack her?

So who wants to bet that this is Ezra, he notices and recognises her helmet, and puts his defenses down and without thinking just goes up to her like "Sabine :D"

Forgetting or not thinking about how it's been like a decade, and he's wearing a disguise, and that he is now nearly thirty now and the last time they saw one another he was only eighteen/nineteen, so Sabine just attacks him.

He tries to talk to her, not wanting to fight or hurt her, but she ends up dragging and choking him across the floor or trying to pull him down.

What if he has to either kick her legs out from under her or he uses the force to grab his lightsaber to free himself because she can't understand him as he's choking?

What if Sabine pulls him with her and sends him flying back into the side of the ship she's in front of, or trying to pin him to the floor?

What if we get Sabine being so angry that she doesn't care about what her trying to say, why he isn't fighting back, and just trying to talk to her?

What if she is just so sick and tired of people stopping her, taunting her, using Ezra against her that she doesn't want to talk anymore?

Until she hears him cough out a familiar "Sabine!"

And she just stops because she knows that voice.

Cue the man flipping them over, or cutting the cable, or just breaking through the rage rolling off her in waves with a single sentence: "It's me!"
