Magical Girl Yuu's First Day pt 4
“Listen dude, I don't know what kind of cult thing you’ve got here and at this point I don't care. I just need to get back home before my mentor freaks out.”
This time it really isn't Yuu’s fault she got lost!
“Cult?! Night Raven College is the most prestigious school in all of Twisted Wonderland!”
“Cool story bro. You still kidnapped me.”
“The black carriage does not kidnap – !”
“The what?”
So according to Birdman all students are recruited via some spooky carriage and horse that Yuu does not remember seeing.
Actually she can't remember anything of how she got here. The day was Tuesday, or maybe Wednesday? She had been getting ready for… something important. Something that had the adult magica gearing up. Yuu remembers a sense of urgency, this had been different from the usual fiend attacks.
What happened? Did something go wrong?
For the first time since waking up Yuu feels truly scared.
Panic rises as she tries to go over what enemies could have the power to transport someone while fogging their memories.
Meanwhile!
Totally oblivious to Yuu’s mental crisis, Birdman was reaching his own conclusions.
“... truly weren't meant to be here then that could explain why you couldn't be sorted. I suppose there's nothing for it. Step back in front of the mirror, young man.”
Finally Crowley looks back at the child, Yuu, and takes in his state.
One hand is tugging at his hair while the other grips his strange magic pen. The boy’s eyes are unfocused and he rocks his weight back and forth from one foot to the other.
Hmm.
Hmmmmmmm.
That’s probably not good. If only Crewel were here to deal with this instead.
Remembering the damage from earlier, Crowley approaches cautiously. He keeps an eye on the hand holding the oversized pen and grasps Yuu’s shoulder in a clawed grip.
Yuu does a full body jolt but listens when Crowley tells him to approach the mirror again
*Return to sender!*
…
Nothing happens.
Yuu’s anxiety is getting out of control, so she tries channeling it towards something more productive. Specifically anger.
This mirror!
First he calls her a freak, now he's saying her home doesn't exist.
“I cannot discern –”
“Well, is there anything you do know? Or should I do this place a favor and break you out of that frame!”
For the record, Yuu wasn't actually going to break the mirror. Squakface still wasn't willing to risk it as he dragged her out of the room.
Crowley guides Yuu to the library where they spend some time looking for references to her home city Duskfront.
Eventually Yuu asks what the books are referring to when they say Twisted Wonderland.
After some more back and forth Crowley concludes that Yuu must be from another world.
Yuu is like okay bro, a likely story.
She’s still concerned this might be a plot, and thinks it's pretty convenient that they happen to be on an isolated island.
Crowley suggests that they shelve this for now and he offers to house Yuu in an unused dorm.
Yuu is not having it and tries to walk out, determined to swim back home if she must.
Crowley protests, despite the many complaints from both students and staff alike Crowley does in fact have a sense of responsibility. And while this particular student is, for whatever reason, unsortable, he cannot allow a student to just walk out. Not even one as unruly as Yuu.
Yuu really, really, doesn't want to be alone with her thoughts waste any time, but she understands this isn't the type of situation you can just bully your way out of. So with gritted teeth Yuu finally hisses out, “fine!”
Birdface is leading her far away from the main building.
Really far.
How big is this campus?
Finally they reach a derelict building that may at one point have been a dormitory.
“It's a little old, but a building with such character is suitable for such a rambunctious young man.”
“Why do you keep calling me that?”
“Calling you what? Rambunctious? I’d say it's rather accurate.”
“No. Young man. I'm not a guy.”
“What?”
Yuu loosens the sash holding her outfit and pulls back the outer robe to reveal modest, but still visible, breasts.
“WHAT!”
I was going to make it longer but I decided to split the final into two parts and give you this now. Sorry about the long wait (╥_╥). I'm kinda disappointed by how close to canon I've been but I know there will be big opportunity for change later. Specifically with the ghosts.
Ive been thinking about writing some drabbles or trying to draw out some scenes, turns out even making a short comic is hard. Im working on a short piece about the mine based more on the manga than the game. I'll focus on that after the last part of Yuu's first day, but might also do some smaller posts as well.

I feel so bad for zephyr, what are some of her happiest memories? Would it be first meeting the members of her local group? I assume they would be built after her, was she excited about them being built or was she not informed at all?
she wouldn't be very... Present. most likely hadn't managed to be there for every Iterator when they first came online. she is very removed from most of her group because she's unable to stick in the chats for too long with all the damage and her endless attempts to conserve herself as much as possible, so her interactions with others outside of the Anemoi (and this one guy called Orion's Pathway) are extremely limited
Boreas, though, ever the life-saver, updates her on any new Iterator projects being build, how are the already existing ones doing- see she is kind of hard to cheer up and as a rule she never really laughs, but oh hearing about successes of others always manages to make her happy. that has been a thing for her since day one!
so Boreas would make a list of the Eo group's achievements with Euros and Orion's help and he'd read them out for her during their routine calls. those calls are probably one of her happiest memories, since she got so much serotonin and motivation out of hearing about her family (n also just in general- their start might've been rocky but Zeph n B really really love each other [platonically ofc])
they might not Know her, only be aware that their senior is called Abet Zephyr and her appearances are strangely rare, but she loves them all. if she hadn't, it wouldn't be called Mission Self-preservation. it'd be way more revenge focused. her number one priority is the safety of her family even if she doesn't know them personally. she puts them above her anger, physical and emotional trauma cuz she just fuckin loves them that much
her other happy memories include some stuff with Sparrows! after Zephyr allows her opinion about the Ancients develop, she finds herself glad whenever Sparrows would show up to do some more repairs and spend some time with the old humidifier. jgklsdmclk just like with a grandma, Sparrows would show her some stuff on her phone/Mechanic's watch and Zeph would be confused about it but she gets to spend the time with someone she likes so it's okay
along with Euros on a call the three of them would sing folk songs from Sparrows' home with Boreas usually listening in, very rarely joining in
Zephyr wasn't given overseers until Sparrows showed up for the first time, too, so when she synced with the eyes and took a peak outside for the first time in her life, that was... that stuck with her as a strong memory, too. can't exactly say it was a Happy memory, but only cuz there was so much happening in her emotionally in that moment that simplifying it to a singular one wouldn't really represent it right
here's her lighting up while Boreas tells her about positive recent events of the group
her antennas are broken- that's why they are always down like that- but Dammit she is Happy we Gotta wiggle 'em at least a wee bit

what do you think about ppl saying steve or robin is going to die in s5???? it makes me sad :(
it does make me sad too i would have to die in their place BUT i don't honestly think either of them are gonna die lol i think people get very 🚨🚨🚨 about it and steve has been slated to "die" every season according to everyone and anyone bc he's so well liked also if he died i'd die so i just don't think about it very hard. also i do think steve definitely HAS already died eddie's death like was his death or So the theory says...
also purely from an idk executive?! standpoint if they killed one of the most beloved characters in the show that theyve deliberately teased and marketed his "death" for BECAUSE they know it drives people crazy (like that protect steve billboard or w/e it said 😭) OR killed one of the two canonical gay characters it being the last season won't let them "get away" with offing any of the long time main characters. i don't understand why ppl say that either like as if people haven't burnt the world to the ground over bad endings to beloved tv shows and the one thing the duffers themselves has expressed is wanting a GOOD meaningful ending that leaves everyone satisfied. and even if they died in a meaningful well-written way that didn't murder their character alongside which would be hard for the duffers to actually nail (LOL) people would still deem it a bad ending just BECAUSE they died y'know. deaths are obviously very hard to handle !!!!!! like i think hoppers s3 death was one of the best ones they ever did el's letter makes me cry like little baby to this day but then the emotional impact is immediately erased cuz he's immediately Not Dead. anyways.
i don't think steve is going to die BUT heehee... i think jonathan might LOL. not that i like want him to or anything!! MY death predictions have always been jonathan or joyce (which is sad i know) because like fundamentally i Do Not think they're going to kill will and those two stand as the best like option in his place/would be the most likely TO die in his place, deliberately. and will is literally one of the ACTUAL main characters like i know it's an ensemble but the main characters of this show are el and will and always have been and i think this ramping up of will's connection to everything is leading SOMEWHERE for sure.
and along that vein!!!! if robin did die so would steve idgaf and vice versa. if steve dies in s5 and robin DOESN'T grab his bat and just start hitting it would be a waste of camera space!!! i also think another ~meaningful steve death would be like obviously protecting the kids or of course a The last showdown moment where he doesn't stop fighting until everyone's safe then just collapses i think it's like thematically accurate. i also think a good one would be like okay steve's connection to the kids on a purely protective standpoint is super like integral to his character and their dynamic even if he is The Reluctant babysitter he will never hurt them and will always b present for them and all that. like when he nearly smacked lucas with that fucking lamp i truly believe a big part of his freak out wasn't the adrenaline release it was that he could've hurt lucas like he was genuinely upset 😭😭 so um if there's some sort of turn to the dark side A La will's demon child possession in season 2 and they had to fight STEVE well that would be incredibly sad. but maybe people don't like that bc it's too sad and i guess the possession thing is getting old and can end up very trite or whatever ITS JUST A THOUGHT... just a thought... could happen...
