I’m glad that he didn’t, but could you imagine if Horikoshi had written it to where Toga also had a crush on Shoto? How annoyed Dabi would be all the time at him being mentioned?

This moment hits so much harder now, because now not only is it "You're an abusive asshole who kept us so separated that I didn't even know what food my little brother likes." but it's "I didn't even know my little brother loves the same food my dead (because of you) older brother did."

I'm proud of Natsuo for going no contact with Enji, and that it's not framed as a bad decision.

QUESTION FOR THOSE CAUGHT UP TO THE MANGA--i know enji, rei and fuyumi say they would visit touya, and shoto and touya had that one soba convo, but was natsuo there at all?

For the 5 ask game: how about an au where Shouto Todoroki is the kid Izuku saves from the slime villain?

Ngl this took me a while to figure out since Shoto could counter Sludgy with his ice easier than Bakugou's explosion but I figured it out.

1- Shoto goes to a private school, and is rebellious. Sometimes this means leaving school and taking his sweet time walking home instead of riding the car back like he's supposed to. One day as he takes a detour under a bridge, he passes another middle schooler going the other way. And then a villain pops out of the sewers and threatens them. Before Shoto can move, the other kid throws his backpack and runs, pushing Shoto out of the way as the slime catches up.

2- Shoto watches in horror as the slime begins to choke the other boy, and attacks- ice to freeze the sludge solid, to pierce through it in spikes- as he tries to get the boy out with his other hand. It's difficult with the sludge rolling and fighting him, but he manages to pull Izuku out. Shoto knows they can't outrun the villain though, so he just covers them with an ice dome and keeps it up as the slime beats against it.

Both middle schoolers are utterly thrilled to see All Might when he smashes through.

3- Shoto quickly melts the ice in time for them to see All Might take down the villain, then pick up Izuku's bag, which he hands over, smiling at them. "You two young men alright? It was very heroic of you to help each other- and I won't say anything about the quirk usage, don't worry." Izuku tries to say it was all Shoto, but the other boy says Izuku acted first to help him. All Might says they must be good friends, then coughs heavily when Shoto replies in the same flat tone that they just met and he doesn't have any friends. All Might says he hopes this changes that, signs Izuku's notebook and Shoto's bag, then darts off.

4- Izuku tries not to be disappointed he didn't get to ask his question- but then turns to Shoto to thank him, and tell him he has a beautiful quirk. Shoto agrees the ice is nice, but then Izuku asks more questions- he melted the ice, does he have heat too? Does he want to be a hero, he could help so many people with that, and more questions that Shoto can't make out due to muttering. He sighs, then leans against the bridge. "Fine, yes, I have fire too. But I'll never use it, because..." Cue tragic backstory reveal! Izuku is horrified. Beyond horrified, really. After the story, Shoto leaves with a faint good luck, and Izuku leaves too. But he doesn't go home- he gets on the train and heads to Might Tower.

5- He tells the front desk that All Might saved him earlier that day, but left before Izuku could tell him everything about the villain, and he thinks it's important. The secretary waves him to wait, and calls Yagi- if there really was an incident, he'd know, even if he hadn't gotten to that part of All Might's paperwork yet. Yagi confirms the sludge incident happened and that he's on the train back too, he'll be ten more minutes and can meet with the kid. He recognizes Izuku, who explains that it's about the other boy who's in trouble, not the villain. He gives a rundown of the story without names, and apologizes for meddling but he had to do something to help. Yagi says that's heroic of him, and did he get a name- Izuku did. "Todoroki Shoto, he said his name was, and I know what school he goes to- is that enough? Is there actually anything we can do to help?" Yagi says there is, and the next afternoon he and Izuku catch Shoto as he's leaving school, and ask to help.

And there he stands, Dabi—his big brother— wreathed in flames every shade of blue with this strange look on his face.

His lips downturned and pressed together tightly, trembling. His furrowed brows and scrunched nose. It’s an unfamiliar face, one that he only remembers through cracked doors. No tears fall— they don’t even form, they can’t— but his older brother still looks like he’s holding them back.

“I’m proud of you.”

The air is heavy between them. It feels weighed down by emotions too complicated to name— grief, it’s grief— and he doesn’t know how to respond so he doesn’t.

But it’s fine because his older brother— Touya-nii— keeps talking, voice choked.

“I wish I could’ve known you.”

So, the Todoroki side plot got thrown in the garbage this chapter...

The less problematic stuff, aka, Geten being a Himura--pointless and just an excuse to explain the ass pull Hori pulls with the actually relevant characters. I think it's a neat that it turns out the Himuras were just as, if not more into Eugenics type shit than Enji. But besides getting a bit more background on Rei's family Geten being a Himura isn't important at all and really didn't need to be included.

As for the rest--it's trash and ultimately could end up with the Todoroki subplot's theme endorsing abuse.

I've seen people defend Touya getting ice as a power up as it proving Enji wrong--proving that Touya was always good enough. Maybe that could have worked if his ice came out only once he was accepted by Enji and at peace, but instead it's the opposite. We are told a Quirk break through happen when people are put in life or death situations. Touya is getting his ice after burning himself into a black skeleton.

Touya getting ice does the following:

Makes Enji right about the Quirk marriage. He and Rei produced a perfect combo first try and later got a second.

Enji was wrong to stop training Touya when he started to burn himself, and instead he should have just dialed up the training and tortured him worse than Shoto because that's what would unlock his ability.

The narrative is essentially saying child abuse is good actually. Again, because Quirks only awaken like this if the person is under extreme duress, if Enji had kept training Touya, but in a way where he didn't burn himself that wouldn't have unlocked his ice. Touya would still be stuck with his handicap and unable to reach his full potential. He wouldn't have become the perfect combo. Enji being non-abusive wouldn't have solved this problem.

The only thing that would have made Touya what Enji wanted is if he'd abused him more physically. If he'd kept training Touya and forced him to burn himself to the bone. Essentially his abuse would be rewarded.

The story is saying that if Enji had just stuck with it, and ignored Touya's physical pain than he would have gotten exactly what he wanted. Yet, instead he stopped the training Touya because it was dangerous for him. He should have spent time in other ways, developed a relationship outside fighting, but that's not the message Hori sends with turn of events.

It also just ruins any growth Touya could have had. He no longer has to see beyond his Quirk. It robs him of realizing that his father should have loved him regardless of his Quirk and more about Enji not seeing him for the perfect boy he always could have been if his father had just set him on fire at four years old. Touya's no longer wrong about anything--his dad should have kept training him, he should have been beat the way Shoto was. If his dad really loved him he would have let Touya burn his skin off.

To me the way Hori has included this power up for Touya ruins the subplot. Whether Hori intended it of not, it's now possible to read it as supporting abuse and self harm. Your kid can't do a thing because they're disabled--keep making them, eventually, once you beat the shit out of them enough they'll be the perfect kid you always wanted. Can't do a thing because you're disabled and it hurts you--keep doing it, even to the point of full body break down because in the end you'll achieve your goal.

It's become "See dad, you should have loved me because I was perfect the entire time!" instead of "it doesn't matter what your kids can do, you should love them anyway".

For the love of god, stop saying Endeavor was a good father (A long-ass RANT)

With the recent episode of MHA season 6 coming out, I started to see a lot of fans talking about how good of a father Endeavor was before Touya started burning himself. Let me start by saying I am a huge Endeavor simp and fan myself, but even I have the decency to acknowledge what a horrible shit he is. This is a rant about why Enji Todoroki has never been a good father. Spoilers ahead obviously.

Endeavor and his family

Endeavor started a family because he couldn’t beat All Might. He started a family and had children for his own gain. Starting with Rei, the wife he bought off who was like 19 at the time only because of her quirk. He never had any intention of treating her as anything but a baby-making machine and a nanny for his kids. The only reason he married her was to have children. After he got what he wanted (Shoto), he sent her away because he damaged her beyond repair and he didn’t need her anymore. 

Endeavor loved Touya because he had potential. Touya loved the training so that wasn’t a problem, but when his first son turned out to be defective, he quickly tossed him and forgot him. 

My point is this, Endeavor only ‘loves’ someone when they prove to be useful to him. There are a million ways he could have handled Touya. Training him how to use his quirk without hurting himself or quirk therapy or even heat-resistant skin grafting. He’s a top hero who had all the experience and money in the world, I promise he would have been able to call up the best doctor in the country, which is what he would have done if he really did love Touya. 

Fuyumi and Natsuo are literally by-products. I bet the only reason he ever noticed Fuyumi was because she was a replacement for Rei as the ‘mother figure’. He treated Natsuo the worst, not even acknowledging his existence, which is why Natsuo was the one who was impacted the most (other than Touya).

Shoto is one who he really loved, not in a healthy way, but because he was the masterpiece. Even after Touya died, Enji never learned his lesson and kept up with the abuse. I couldn’t imagine what would have happened if Shoto wasn’t born the way he is. Would Enji just keep forcing Rei to have MORE babies? 

Was he really an abuser?

Some fans say ‘oh he wasn’t that bad’ or ‘he never really physically hurt them’ because we never explicitly see it. For the kids it was mostly emotional and verbal abuse, I doubt he physically hurt Shoto other than the training. Enji would beat him until he was vomiting for the sake of training, but with Rei he damaged her the most. She married him for the sake of her family and tried to love him. She tried to be a partner to him, and he still pushed her away. He treated her horribly and was a monster. He never physically hurt Natsuo or Fuyumi but he beat Rei up like it was a routine. He slaps her around when she tries to voice her opinion or talk to him, and he downright blames her for everything, including Touya training in secret. 

This panel is downright horrifying because it shows what a monster he was and how Rei saw him. This strong pro hero is pulling her and throwing her around like a sac of potatoes in front of the children. He is violently beating his wife. So for fans saying there is no proof of him doing this regularly, here is the page to prove it. I don’t think Horikoshi can show graphic abuse, so he tried to make it as subtle as possible, just showing hints. Not many people have seen these extra pages (from chapter 301-302) because it was only quite recently added to the chapter. The anime studio literally censors blood, so I honestly doubt this will be animated. Also in the manga, there is a panel where it is insinuated he slapped Rei. You can see the giant SLAP in bold letters.

If this is a man who is supposed to be a top pro hero then these children and Rei have no one to run to.

Power dynamics and victim blaming

Its very interesting to see how much the Todoroki children blame themselves for how Touya ended up. This image is from chapter 302.

Even if they went to the police, nothing could have stopped Endeavor. Given how corrupt the hero system is, the abuse would have worsened if someone ratted him out. There is no way Rei, Fuyumi or Natsuo could have stopped this. They are victims as well. Endeavor was the #2 hero, they would have easily swept it under the rug and called them crazy or ungrateful. Enji with his connections and status could have sent them away. What hero could they have gone to that would have believed them? Who’s to say they would even help?

Misogynistic?

Endeavor had this tendency to treat women who are not heroes in an odd way. He saw them as weak and preferred boys as successors. If you look at his behavior with women outside of the hero profession, it's super awkward and he in general doesn’t know how to treat or interact with them. This is mostly based on speculation, but I feel like this is where Touya got his misogynistic way of thinking. He had to pick it up from somebody and I doubt it was Natsuo or Shoto. 

Facing the consequences

Endeavor wanting to atone and not asking for forgiveness is a major sign of growth. I’m glad he acknowledges his wrongdoings and is now trying to bond with his family, but that doesn’t erase the past. Enji had abused and tortured his family for years. You don’t come back from that.

I don’t like how Enji thinks he can do a few favors for them and call it atonement. He doesn’t face real consequences because in the end, he’s the #1 hero, he’s rich, and he still has his masterpiece. He is thriving and doing great careerwise. The punishment does not fit the crime. Enji being forced to atone is a super lenient consequence. 

This is actually pretty scary. Endeavor is the hero with the most cases solved, you CANNOT tell me he didn’t run into a few domestic abuse cases in his 25+ years as a hero. He is locking up abusers while being an abuser himself. Talk about double standers- 

Glad he got exposed (#Endeavoriscanceled)

If it weren’t for Dabi/Touya revealing what Enji did publicly, I don’t think he would have ever faced real consequences. The world needs to know this man is no hero behind the scenes. In any country, abusers whether male or female get jail time, probation or fines. For long-term abusers, I’m pretty sure jail time and a criminal record is on the table. Also, aren’t quirk marriages illegal in some places? Or at least have laws and regulations? 

After the final war arc there might be a chance he will retire, but this retirement won’t be easy. Endeavor will be disgraced and knocked off his pedestal, which is exactly what he deserves. It's devastating as an Endeavor fan but honestly this man needs to learn his lesson the right way. Thank you for reading my rant.

His fingers traced designs against the bare skin above your sweats.

The distance was closing slowly, and you closed your eyes as you felt his mouth come in contact with your neck. His lips trailed upwards towards your ear, feeling the small kisses in their wake. The warm breath of air tickled slightly as he began to whisper in your ear.

“If you’re not careful you’ll bring back my morning wood,” he trailed back down before switching to the opposite side and repeating his actions. The warm around and inside your body grew as he continued his musings, “and it took so long to stop thinking of you after my dreams last night.”

Humming, you moved your hands towards his head, pulling his hair softly as you moved to whisper back. “Is that so? Let’s make our dreams a reality then,” your teeth pulling gently on his earlobe as you moved your head back.

A gasp of air left your mouth as he moved quickly and suddenly, biting down with force against your neck. While his fingers tightened around your waist, pulling you flush against him. A deep warmth pressed against you intimately as he rutted upwards, groaning.
