The fun thing about engineering is that some days you get a random call out of the blue from a contractor unironically asking you a question about a project you haven't even thought about in months. And then you check and realize you made a mistake three and a half years ago and it's taken this long to come to fruition and you need to drop everything and fix it right now.

Mira Lazine at LGBTQ Nation:
Yesterday, a group of “gay furry hackers” known as SiegedSec released 200 gigabytes of leaked data from the Heritage Foundation on their Telegram, a group texting application. “This breach can help shine light on who exactly is supporting Heritage, and also encourage people to fight against them even more than before,” said a member of the group known as “vio” to LGBTQ Nation. “I believe it’s also worth noting, this could help show the amount of support Heritage has that’s provided by malicious users or bots from China,” she said while linking to a thread on X by journalist Jackie Singh, which analyzes the leak’s data.
The leak resulted from a string of hacks carried out by the group’s “#OpTransRights,” which targets groups opposed to trans civil rights. The Heritage Foundation in particular was targeted for its creation of Project 2025, a plan to install ultraconservative policies if former President Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. Project 2025’s desired policies include strong restrictions on transgender care and denying any legal recognition of trans people’s gender identities.  LGBTQ Nation obtained access to the leaked data. It contains information from between 2007 and 2022, and it focuses primarily around the Heritage Foundation’s news wing, The Daily Signal. The data includes information on commenters’ email and IP addresses, along with information regarding those who had articles posted on the site.
[...] SiegedSec has targeted other groups and individuals earlier this year as part of #OpTransRights, including the ultraconservative outlet Real America’s Voice and a Minnesota church pastor who was accused of transphobia.
Project 2025 architects The Heritage Foundation got targeted by a gay furry hackers collective called SiegedSec. These heroes shined a light on Heritage’s bigoted ways.

STOP PROJECT 2025 COMIC
Different Comic book artists have gotten together to fully illustrate and showcase how scary and horrific project 2025 actually is and what's could happen afterward if Trump wins and if the Heritage foundation detailed plans are fully implemented in America.
This shit isn't a joke, nor is it funny and should be taken Fucking seriously.
Again, it's either keeping Democracy intact or having Christian Nationalism control the U.S. government and turning it into a far-right authoritarian theocratic Christto-Fascist country. This election shouldn't be that hard to decide on....

Chaos Insurgent #1, taking a tied-up and struggling Dr. Bright back to the van: Hey, Carl? Why do I hear boss music?
Chaos Insurgent #2, looking around in confusion: I don't know. Let's just get out of hereHOLY MOTHER OF- *pointing*
Dr. Shaw, sprinting towards the two Insurgents at full speed with a lightsaber he "borrowed" from Pataphysics, Duel Of The Fates playing from his phone in his pocket: GIVE HIM BACK, [EXPLETIVE REDACTED]! I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND!

Something very confusing to me is if there is this complaining everywhere from women about “omg patriarchal beauty standards!!” on social media but at the same time there is a large overlap of women saying “I wear makeup + high heels + uncomfortable unnecessarily revealing clothing and shave all for MYSeLF!!” “I don’t care what men think!!” …. then who exactly is upholding these beauty standards if men’s words don’t have an effect on women and who exactly are the victims if so many women perform beauty rituals ( that just happen to align with beauty trends) because it makes them feel good and confident??? How can the beauty influencers and female celebs that many women and young girls watch be simultaneously confident and insecure women about their appearance?? How can there be complaining about extreme beauty standards but then an admiration for the women who do adhere to these standards ….from an audience of the very women who go on social media boding over “omg patriarchal beauty standards amiright ugh it’s so hard being a women the pressure):”
Like at this point it’s pure insanity and it’s witnessing women going in circles and circles self-harming but then lashing out at anyone who tells them that they could …stop going in circles if they actually stop going in circles instead of complaining with other women about how they are stuck.
And a clue to the call coming from inside the house is when women jokingly went: “I don’t dress up for men I dress up for other women” #womencentered #feminism
It seems to me that women don’t want to be subjected to beauty standards but don’t understand the influence they have on each other and can’t seem to fathom that they “like” something male invented because that would mean taking responsibility that they have agency in rejecting and!! mostly importantly, putting in actual effort on dismantling patriarchal roles instead of telling other women that they’re all beautiful and going “ok but how does my eyeliner opress women lol there are bigger problems”.

Nemtheanga
‘Do-beram á mar mbréthir’ ar Bricni ‘Acht is airdarcu dúin sanas ná da neoch aile éigem.’ // ‘We swear,’ says Bricriu, ‘Only to us is a whisper more obvious than a cry to any other’
With the exception of one short passage in Scéla Conchobuir maic Nessa,* there are no physical descriptions of the Ulster Cycle’s premier Trickster, Bricriu mac Carbada. Despite that, I’ve been working with him for so long now that he’s all but gained total sentience in my head so here he is—the man, the myth, the menace.
I love this little shit with all my heart. He’s a social manipulator of the highest order. He throws the best parties. Him and Fergus are the most extremely divorced couple in the world. He’s such a pain in the ass that it actually puts him beyond reproach. He is completely pathetic. Ulster would have self-destructed without him.
*Frankly, I’m not entirely inclined to read the pinnochio-esque boil as particularly useful for a few reasons but I did like the idea of at least some of his otherness showing outwardly, hence the port-wine birthmark.

i feel like this opinion would get me killed in some places of the internet but castiel or misha or whoever has so much more genuine, compelling chemistry with his female love interests (or pseudo-love interests, i can't figure out what hannah is supposed to be) than with dean/jensen. like i'm 3 episodes into season 10 and i'm earnestly hoping for a romantic (or something) subplot with cas and hannah because i like how they're developing together. idk, i think it's nice. i like how cas interacts with the female characters; there's a lot there

Stop using beta.character.ai
Reminder that character AI is still trained off the same models that AI like ChatGPT and MidJourney uses. It's still stolen data, It is still stealing from artists. But this time using fanfiction and roleplay posts as its "training". Role-play with real people and not yes men bots that’s mostly if not always out of character and immersion breaking that changes the plot every few minutes.
Trust me as someone who’s been role-playing for 11~ years it’s so much better role-playing with real people. Sure it can suck sometimes when it could be days without a response, a way to combat this? A friendly once a day bump, or you know go outside and touch grass, do other activities while you wait for their reply since… gasp! They’re not machines and have life outside the internet.
Role-play in groups, while daunting yes, can lead to much more fun, more character development, more potential, etc. On discord there’s thousands of roleplay servers. Use a site like Disboard, use the search feature by typing what you like (such as “pirate-RP” for example), and read the available public servers that’s been recently bumped, if there are reviews read them! Hell join them, see if its right for you: if it ain't you're allowed to leave and search on. Or create your own!
If you somehow constantly have to rely on these bots for social interaction then um? I’m going to ask you to get help. Make real friends! Yes I get the social anxieties about it, I have social anxiety and I am on the spectrum but trust me it isn’t fucking healthy relying on bots as social interaction, if you’re of age go to the local bar!
This is the future plenty of media warned about (which yes I get pointing to video games or TV shows or movies ain’t good but literally? So many stories warn of this potential now very likely future. There’s no good ending here unless we do something about regulation)
Sora AI is scary ChatGPT getting this new 0.4 update is *scary* (AugustTheDuck video about it) Unregulated AI that has the very real potential to make socializing with real people harder, Unregulated AI has the potential to scam your grandparents, Unregulated AI has the potential to create blackmail and false evidence.
You are complicit if you use character AI or chatgpt. You cannot be anti-AI and still use character ai. There is no ethical 'creative AI', yet. There is no way to create your own AI that is fed your own work without using the same model that has thousands if not millions of stolen data. Character AI does not use this.
buzz tags so people can see this. AI-bros you can cry about it, touch grass. I am anti-AI but so people can actually read this goofy positive tags.
AI-Phobia does not exist. Cool links! Protecting Artists from AI Technologies (Alt Link for EU) And a google doc with how AI is bad and links with sources and support.

Now what?
First things first, protect yourself. Even if you think the threat of authoritarianism is overblown, take steps to defend against it. If you’re a journalist, maybe read this section twice.
Find your communities. Most people have many communities: the friend group you hang out with in real life, your family, your neighbors, your internet friends, your coworkers, your church or synagogue or mosque or other religious community. Strengthen these communities. If you don’t feel like you have much in the way of community, begin forming them: join new social groups, and try to meet likeminded people near you. Introduce yourself to your neighbors.
Join (or start) a union. There’s strength in numbers, and especially if your industry may fall under threat, you’ll want to unionize now and not wait for that threat to materialize.
Consider taking proactive steps to obtain healthcare that could become challenging to obtain in the future, if you are able. For example, if you need to replace or are considering getting an IUD, now might be the time.
Use end-to-end-encrypted messaging apps for your communications. I use Signal heavily, but there are other options. Please know that not all apps that advertise E2EE enable it by default or offer it for group chats (looking at you Telegram), so double check that.
Consider choosing a VPN to help protect your privacy online, and learn about the pros and cons of using them. Learn when, why, and how to use Tor. The EFF has good guides depending on your operating system.
Consider reducing your reliance on centralized social networks controlled by billionaires, and instead establishing a web presence you control. Evaluate the risks when choosing hosting providers, make backups, and make it as easy as possible to switch hosts should the need arise.
Consider no longer using apps that collect and store sensitive data, such as period tracker or fertility apps. Be cautious about location tracking and other tech-enabled surveillance.
Find and support trusted sources of news and information. If you rely heavily on mainstream news outlets owned by billionaires who were first in line to congratulate Trump on his victory, consider diversifying your media diet. ProPublica, 404 Media, and Flaming Hydra are a couple of great publications, or the Institute for Nonprofit News has a great directory of many more. Subscribe to and/or financially support independent solo writers like Parker Molloy (The Present Age), Erin Reed, Marisa Kabas (The Handbasket), and Seamus Hughes (Court Watch). Pay for a subscription to your local newspaper. Maybe also subscribe to a non-US paper while you’re at it. Consider supplementing your social feeds with an RSS-powered blogroll.
